Me just saying I am a student of propaganda hits so many buttons… Well you must want to argue about something !!! Bring it on ..and since I didn’t … the arguments I didnt make, get attributed to me ….

Propaganda… a fascinating topic…

If the “door of sorrow” is a reference to that poor child Indi Gregory, then, sadly, Dover, I really doubt it will be. It should be. State-sanctioned murder of an innocent should always be.

Hun:

A Jewish man has been assaulted outside a Bentleigh East synagogue in what police are treating as a “racially motivated” incident.

The Herald Sun can reveal a man, aged in his 70s, was assaulted while walking into the Chabad on Cecil St about 10.40am on Saturday, November 18.

The victim’s son Anton took to social media to express his concerns about the incident, saying his father was “brutally attacked”.

“My father had parked his car and was walking towards the East Bentleigh Chabad House (synagogue) when the assailant parked behind him,” he wrote on Facebook.

Anton said the attacker then examined his father’s car, where he noticed Jewish calendars with Hebrew writing.

“This observation seemed to trigger his next actions.

“He returned to his vehicle, retrieved a syringe (weapon), and purposefully attacked my father with it.

“This wasn’t a random act of violence. The assailant’s decision to attack after seeing Jewish symbols makes it clear that this was an anti-semitic, racially motivated crime.”

Anton said the community needed to be aware of the incident to take appropriate precautions.

“I urge the police and Community Security Group (CSG) Victoria to consider these details in their investigation and communication. It is vital for the safety and awareness of our community,” he added.

A Victoria Police spokesman said an occupant exited the car and assaulted the man.

“The victim was not physically injured,” the spokesman said.

The vehicle, believed to be a light coloured Holden Commodore sedan, left towards Mackie Rd.

The spokesman said the exact circumstances surrounding the assault were under investigation, but police were treating this as a racially motivated incident.

All I have for news, apart from this site, is the BEEB.

Tonight, I’m being told that the premmie babies were being bathed in dirty water. By a “doctor” in a well-lit hospital. Apart from the obvious deception, how about….boiling the water first? You know. Like I had to do in PNG.

They’ve also had a couple of smooth faced junior j’lists on Sunday rotation. One of them drew the short straw – an interview with Mark Regev. This guy takes no prisoners, but does it succinctly and factually. A joy to watch. Sorry I can’t link.

They also had some teatowel from Qatar, whining about “peace”. The drip must have got wind of Israel’s long term intent with the architects of the massacre living like sultans in his neighbourhood.

And finally, and keeping with the headgear theme, a strikingly khol-ed hijabi yapper also whining…with a remarkable rider. Of course it would be helpful if the hostages are returned, amongst a number of other baby steps. Sorry Fatima, that is the only reason the IDF have spared Gaza. The hope that your evil co-religionists have spared their lives.

Tim Blair on point as always in today’s Tele:

KIDS HAVE BIN READIN’ AND LOVIN’ BIN LADEN

TIM BLAIR
Mon 20 Nov 2023

Certain responses to the shocking October 7 attacks on Israel weren’t shocking at all.
The swarm of Islamic cheerleaders chanting “gas the Jews” outside the Sydney Opera House, for example, was easily anticipated.
After all, Sydney’s extremist Sunni Muslim subset supplied more volunteers (and therefore more corpses) to ISIS’s demented cause a decade ago than just about anywhere outside of Syria, in per capita terms.
So it stands to reason that our same vibrant multicultural community would be up for a celebration following news last month that their Palestinian allies had burned, stabbed, sexually tortured, murdered and kidnapped so many innocent civilian Jews.
Equally unsurprising was the response of elite Western leftists, who’ve been screaming for decades about Nazis, dictators and tyrants in our midst – mainly conservatives and conservative voters.
Yet the same crew became noticeably calmer and more conciliatory when confronted with actual blood-drenched evidence of genuine Nazi-level atrocities.
They’re funny like that. Put the likes of Tony Abbott or Donald Trump in front of lefty sophisticates and they see nothing but evil.
When Hamas madmen violate and butcher Jewish girls, children and babies, however, our leftist pals reflexively resort to gutless equanimity: “Well, let’s not rush to judgment. There’s two sides to every story.”
All of that is sadly routine, of course, in our corroded, death-spiral culture. But last week brought something alarmingly new. An undeniably peculiar revelation.
A significant wedge of the TikTok generation – 20-something onliners who know a lot about photo filters but not quite so much about anything else – is now hot for Osama bin Laden.
Seriously.
It seems some TikTokky types happened upon the dead terrorist’s 2002 Letter to America – an attempted justification for his gang’s 9/11 annihilation of 3000 people in 2001 – and liked what they saw.
TikTok then lit up with bin Laden admiration. Some examples:
“I will never look at life the same, I will never look at [the US] the same.”
“Eye-opening.”
“Explains so much.”
“In the last 20 minutes, my entire viewpoint of the entire life I have believed and lived has changed.”
“He was right.”
“It ALL makes sense now.”
“I need everyone to stop what they’re doing right now and go read – it’s literally two pages – go read A Letter to America.”
One page too long for our Prime Minister, then.
It’s easy to see why, in a shallow way, these youngsters find bin Laden so compelling. On some levels, his letter is a first-year arts student’s simple whinge-list of Bad Things Done by White Folk and their Awful Climate-Hurty Capitalism.
It even features teen-friendly punctuation. Bin Laden, in the over- emphatic manner of a girly TikTokker, notably favours multiple exclamation marks.
More crucially, he goes on and on about occupation, colonisation and Western aggression – themes that have become increasingly prominent in leftist-dominated Western education and media.
Bin Laden’s main message, to which onliners respond so keenly, is that Palestine has been occupied by Israel “for more than 50 years; years overflowing with oppression, tyranny, crimes, killing, expulsion, destruction and devastation”.
“The creation and continuation of Israel is one of the greatest crimes,” bin Laden continued, his words echoed in deed by October 7’s killers and those “gas the Jews” goons at the Opera House. “The creation of Israel is a crime which must be erased.”
Ol’ Binny wasn’t exactly a two-state solution kinda guy; not in the Middle East and not anywhere else.
As his letter makes clear, bin Laden’s preferred vision was of a global “Nation of Martyrdom; the Nation that desires death more than you desire life”. That might be a hard sell even to the TikTok kids, although they do very much insist on the greatness of bin Laden’s entire letter.
Presumably, then, they’re OK with the bits condemning “fornication, homosexuality, intoxicants, gambling, and trading with interest”.
And there’s also bin Laden’s demand for “complete submission” to Islam.
Go for it, TikTokkers. You know “it ALL makes sense”. And imagine how much time and worry you’ll save on photo filters once you’re safely bagged up inside those hijabs.
Further online learning awaits.
My US friend David Burge advises some mid-20th century research for our late-developing history buffs: “If you kids think bin Laden made some good points, wait ’til I tell you about a vegetarian former art student with an ironic moustache whose impassioned manifesto about the Zionist oppression of his people sparked a worldwide movement.”
They may fall for it. Poor babies.

BIG PRICE FOR A WEE DRAM

LONDON:

A bottle of The Macallan 1926, described by Sotheby’s auction house as the “most valuable whisky in the world”, has been sold for a record £2.1 million (A$4m).
The sale set a new record for any bottle of spirit or wine sold at auction.
One of the Macallan 1926 bottles had the previous record for the most expensive bottle ever sold, when it fetched £1.5m in 2019.
“I tasted a tiny drop — a tiny drop — of this. It’s very rich, it’s got a lot of dried fruit as you would expect, a lot of spice, a lot of wood,” Sotheby’s head of whisky Jonny Fowle said.
The bottles are among only 40 that Macallan, based in Moray, northern Scotland, has confirmed were bottled from Cask 263 in 1986 after spending 60 years in dark European oak, which was reflected in the colour.

CYMI: Musk was responding to a post Wednesday that said Jewish communities “have been pushing the exact kind of dialectical hatred against whites that they claim to want people to stop using against them.” The post also referenced “hordes of minorities” flooding Western countries, a popular antisemitic conspiracy theory.

Uh oh.

Hijack horror as Israeli cargo ship stormed by ‘Iran-backed militia’ in Red Sea (19 Nov)

Armed hijackers have reportedly stormed an Israeli-flagged cargo vessel in the Red Sea and taken the crew hostage.

Members of the Yemeni-based Houthi rebel group are understood to have taken control of the Galaxy Leader ship with 22 sailors on board.

Israeli authorities confirmed the Galaxy Leader had been seized but it is thought that there are no nationals from the country on board.

THe IDF do have a couple of naval ships in the area, which have been shooting down Houthi missiles. And the US has quite a lot in the area too. It could get quite messy for the Houthi hijackers, I doubt the Israelis in particular will be disposed towards niceness.

IDF soldier taken hostage was murdered in Gaza, Israel confirms (19 Nov)

IDF R.-Adm. Daniel Hagari revealed on Sunday that intelligence has shown that Israeli hostage, Noa Marciano, was murdered in Shifa.

It’s hard to sympathise with grievances about land dispossession that relate to events that occurred in the 1930 and 40s.
Such events were not unique to the Palestinian Mandate, they occurred thousands of times in all parts of the world including to nearly a million Jews forced out of North Africa and the Middle East.
Now four five six seven generations later with numerous descendants is there some sort of deep spiritual relationship to that land amongst likely hundreds of those descendants that justifies butchery?
Just no.

“Reduce Your Emissions Within Two Months Or Face The Consequences”, Brussels Tells 12 Member States (20 Nov)

The EU executive sent a letter of formal notice to Luxembourg, Poland, and Romania, and a reasoned opinion to Bulgaria, Ireland, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Austria, Portugal, and Sweden for failing to ensure the correct implementation of their commitments to reduce several air pollutants as required by Directive (EU) 2016/2284 on the national emission reductions of certain air pollutants (“NEC Directive”).

I can’t see Hungary complying, although Poland has just been taken over by the Left, so they might. I wonder if this silly stuff will be the catalyst for a break up of the EU?

Big Serge’s latest Ukraine war analysis is up.

https://open.substack.com/pub/bigserge/p/russo-ukrainian-war-the-reckoning?r=yhwki&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email

He sees only accelerating degradation of the Uke forces via relentless attrition, exhaustion of NATO munitions stocks and the willpower to send them, and – now – a pivot to supporting Israel. He says the Ukes ‘summer offensive’ has failed to achieve anything, and given the above, sees nothing ahead for Ukraine but defeat.

The picture is not overly complicated. Ukrainian combat power is in a decline which has little chance of arrest, particularly now that events in the Middle East mean that it no longer has an uncontested claim to western stocks

I wonder how many of those screeching about “dispossession” and “settler societies” would support Germans seeking to return to the lands in (former) East Prussia and Kaliningrad (former Konigsberg) that had been German for a millenium, until the Germans were dispossessed in 1945 (with hundreds of thousands dying in the process) and replaced by a Russian “settler society”?

After a few decades, it is time to let the past bury its dead, and look to the future.

‘A battle inside us’: Hebrew Catholics in the Holy Land wrestle with challenges of war
CNA – By Marinella Bandini – Jerusalem, Nov 19, 2023

Among the many expressions of the Church in the Holy Land, the Hebrew-speaking Catholic community is the smallest. It comprises about a thousand Catholic faithful living in Israel, immersed in a Hebrew cultural and linguistic environment. But despite being a vibrant and diverse part of the Christian community, it remains relatively unknown even at the local level.
.

The day after the attack, Sunday, Oct. 8, the Hebrew-speaking Catholic community began the “Great Advent.”

This period spans from seven to 13 weeks before Christmas and commences the day after the celebration of Simchat Torah (Joy of the Torah), which this year fell on Saturday, Oct. 7, Zelazko explained. For Jews, this day marks the conclusion of the annual cycle of Torah reading and the beginning of a new one. Similarly, Advent inaugurates the new liturgical year for the Catholic Church.

“During the Great Advent, we add a reading to the Mass, drawn from the biblical passage read in synagogues that week (the Torah corresponds to our Pentateuch). It is a way to resonate with the same word and make evident the relationship with Judaism and the points of connection between Jews and Christians.”

Palestinian Authority claims Israel, not Hamas, committed Re’im massacre (19 Nov)

The Palestinian Authority’s Finance Ministry put out a statement on Sunday, denying terror group Hamas was responsible for at least 350 partygoers slain at the Re’im music festival massacre.

The statement says that “preliminary Israeli police investigations” showed that Israeli claims in the media were false, followed up by saying that this was then used by “the occupation to justify its aggression against Gaza.”

Prime Minister Netanyahu responded later that day, “Today, the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah said something utterly preposterous. It denied that it was Hamas that carried out the horrible massacre at the nature festival near Gaza. It accused Israel of carrying out that massacre. This is a complete reversal of the truth.”

Well at least it means they’re a tad sensitive about how bad the look was, but to produce such huge steaming pile of bullshit with a straight face really takes the cake.

Truth, lies and the long road to exposing an Australian ‘hero’
Karl Quinn
By Karl Quinn
November 20, 2023 — 5.30am

Seven years after Chris Masters first heard the whispers about what Victoria Cross winner Ben Roberts-Smith did in Afghanistan, he’s not sure what he’d do if he heard them again.

“I’d probably ring Nick McKenzie and say, ‘I’ve got a good story for you, mate. I’m gonna go kayaking’,” the 75-year-old veteran says with a small and hard-won laugh.

The collaboration between the two journalists led to a series of explosive stories about Afghan prisoners of war being executed in cold blood by SAS corporal Roberts-Smith or by soldiers under his command.

In the Fairfax (later Nine) outlets, on 60 Minutes, and ultimately in the Federal Court in Sydney, where Roberts-Smith sued for defamation, the story dragged out for years, at enormous personal and financial cost for everyone involved.

Now, with judge Anthony Besanko having dismissed Roberts-Smith’s case in June – at an estimated cost to the former soldier and his backers, including Seven supremo Kerry Stokes, of $25 million – the story behind the story is being told in Truth on Trial, a documentary for Nine-owned Stan. (Nine is the owner of this masthead.)

It marks an endpoint of sorts, with the case wrapped and Roberts-Smith found to be “complicit in and responsible for the murder” of three Afghan men, and “not a reliable witness”. But it’s not a definitive full-stop: Roberts-Smith has appealed the ruling, and that case will be heard in February. There is also still the possibility he could face criminal charges over the alleged killings (which have so far been proved to a civil standard only).

The case and its reporting have drawn praise and opprobrium for the journalists.

“There were many moments when I wished we’d never done it,” says McKenzie.

“When you’re staring down the loss of your career, your reputation, and what would be a massive blow to your witnesses and whistleblowers and to those grieving families [if you lost], you’d be mad not to rethink your actions.

“What guided us always was that we knew we were right. We knew it was the truth. But what we didn’t know was whether the truth would win, because there’s always other factors that come into play.”

Investigative journalism always starts with an irresistible tug towards a story that someone doesn’t want to be told. And for Masters, this was just such a tale – even if he rather wished it wasn’t.

He first sat down with the intimidating Roberts-Smith, who stands 202 centimetres tall and comes from a prominent Perth family, to raise the accusations.

“A big part of me hoped he would come up with a sensible explanation for why his view of what occurred in Afghanistan, and the views of some of his fellow soldiers, were so disparate,” he says. “But he didn’t. He arced up, got really angry, and I walked away from it thinking, ‘Well, he’s got something to hide’.”

In their reporting, Masters and McKenzie were always at pains to make it clear that Roberts-Smith and his cohort were the exceptions, not the norm. The real heroes, they felt, were the soldiers who risked everything to speak out against the rogues.

Reporting it was tough, says Masters. “There’s so much about what Nick and I do that can damage your psyche, because we’re looking down the gutter all the time, we’re seeing the worst of humankind.”

But having to prove it to be true in a court was so much harder.

“It was exhausting, stress-invoking, anxiety-producing for everybody involved, but most significantly for our witnesses,” says McKenzie.

“Honestly, you wouldn’t wish litigation on your worst enemy.“

Not allowed to mine asteroids.

Bernie Sanders wants to bring socialism to space (18 Nov, via Instapundit)

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) recently sat down with Rolling Stone for a wide-ranging, rambling interview. The subject turned to Sanders’s least favorite person on the planet: space and electric car tycoon Elon Musk. Sanders made a strange accusation against the SpaceX CEO.

“It’s no secret Musk wants to develop Mars. And by the way, the kind of riches that he could benefit from mining, literally mining, meteors is a huge amount of money. Do you know that? No one is talking about it. Right now, Musk and Bezos literally have the legal right to take rare minerals off a meteor for their own personal gain — which, to me, is literally beyond comprehension,” Sanders said.

A lot of things are beyond comprehension of leftists, it has to be said. Like the difference between a meteor and an asteroid.

Oh, how much the times have changed!

The United States Army is now begging COVID unvaccinated soldiers, who underwent involuntary discharge for their refusal to take the vaccine, to return to service and also permits them to correct their military records!

Thousands were given career-destroying reprimands:

Lt. Col. Terry Kelley, a spokesman for the Army, said that 2,767 soldiers have received “general officer written reprimands” — killing their opportunities for promotions or transfers within the military — and that two battalion commanders as well as four other officers have been relieved of their duties but remain enlisted in the military.

The leadership, sadly, stayed silent. (pictured here is Lloyd Austin)

As a result, the military is missing its recruitment goals by 25%

Dover – They moved to the Red Sea a couple weeks ago as I recall. The Houthis have been sending missiles and drones against Israel, and both the IDF ships and USN ones have been shooting them down.

IDF sends warships to Red Sea after aerial attacks from Yemen (JPost, 1 Nov)

Israeli missile boats were deployed in the Red Sea on Wednesday as reinforcements, the IDF said in a statement, following long-range missile and drone attacks claimed by Yemen’s Houthis.

Images disseminated by the military appeared to show Saar-class Corvettes patrolling near Eilat Port in the Red Sea

I suspect the USN Arleigh Burkes are a lot more capable, but depending on the US right now is probably not a good idea given the internal politics within the Biden Administration.

Midnight travelogue.

We are awoken at midnight. The aurora borealis is starting to light up. A quick struggle into thermals and parkas and it’s out to the aft deck.

Eyes become accustomed to the darkness, and I look across to the port side horizon. What I had processed as a long ridgeline with dawn breaking behind it was nothing of the sort. I am looking at the northern lights, a vast, coruscating ribbon stretched along the ocean’s length.

Every so often, a plume rises high into the night, the hidden sun catching some heavier density of material and shooting off a cascade of iridescence. Next, what look to be searchlights behind the ribbon arc up, throwing beams of growing brightness and collapsing back into themselves. To call such a phenomenon “beautiful” is an understatement. Sublime, ethereal, enthralling.

The cold becomes so intense I have to leave my position at the deck rail.

Another observation….I was the only person on the deck who had no camera. What is it with modern humanity that if they have no photo, it didn’t happen? I can easily buy a photo of the lights. What I can’t buy is the experience of standing quietly and experiencing them in all their glory.

Now it’s back to sleep.

Because I’ve no speed at bs I dropped out of the lanes swimming and into the general splash around area and so to avoid the congestion I’ve started my swimming between 5/6 in the morning (when the pool opens) .. it’s an ideal time for no-one-in-the-way swimming but, bloody hell! .. finished by 8, at the latest, makes the rest of the day .. looooooooooong! …

That’s good news! I was sure it would be stolen, since the various deep state players are really hostile towards anything Trumpitty Trumpish right now. Maybe they didn’t think Argentina is worth the effort though, since they have a fair bit on their plate right now.

Graham ‘Polly’ Farmer or Sir Charles Court: Parties to fight over name for WA’s federal political battleground
Dan Jervis-Bardy
The West Australian
Mon, 20 November 2023 12:01AM
Comments
Dan Jervis-Bardy

The sprawling region east of Perth is shaping as a new political battleground as the major parties push for the State’s 16th federal seat to be established in the area.

Labor wants the new seat named after football icon Graham “Polly” Farmer, while the Liberals want it to commemorate former Premier Sir Charles Court.

The West has obtained the parties’ submissions to the re-drawing of WA’s federal electoral boundaries — which includes creating a new seat at the next election.

Labor and the Liberals have identified the areas east and north-east of Perth as the best location for the new division.

But the two parties are proposing different boundaries for the seat to give themselves the best chance of snaring both it and the surrounding electorates.

Under Labor’s proposal, the new seat would swallow up huge swathes of Tania Lawrence’s seat of Hasluck and take in a handful of suburbs at the northern tip of Andrew Hastie’s Canning electorate.

Smaller parts of Burt and Swan would also be transferred to the new seat.
Liberals want the new seat to commemorate former Premier Sir Charles Court.

Labor wants Hasluck, a seat it won from the Liberals in 2022, shifted west to take in suburbs currently in the Perth electorate such as Eden Hill and Bassendean.

That would leave the new seat to cover the areas east of Darlington, all the way out to Chidlow and Wooroloo.

WA Labor acting state secretary Lauren Cayoun said its proposal would address rapid population growth in Perth’s north-eastern suburbs.

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) took a similar approach when it created Burt in 2016 to deal with a population boom in the south-east, Ms Cayoun said.

Labor is officially calling for the seat to be named “Farmer” in recognition of the WA football legend and Indigenous icon — an idea first raised by Perth MP and former party secretary Patrick Gorman.

Graham “Polly” Farmer, who died in 2019, was named ruckman in the VFL/AFL Team of the Century and is considered one of the greatest footballers of all time.

“Farmer captained the AFL team Geelong, even before the 1967 referendum to count Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as citizens. He has a freeway named in his honour, the Graham Farmer Freeway, and is a much-loved West Australian,” Labor wrote in its submission.

What is it, with the Labor Party, and the endless efforts to re – write Australian history?

The butchery wasn’t justified but neither do I think its hard to sympathize with the grievances, like those of the 30s and 40s. I certainly didn’t credit this when I was younger but the older I’ve gotten the easier it is to sympathize with the strength of attachments to place. Further, the grievances aren’t limited to the 30s or 40s, but involve the entire period to the present. Many of those in the population will have lost close relations over the last 70 years or so. It is very easy for us to understate the difficulty here for the obvious reasons (and this is the case on both sides).

Well said, db.

But if they were ‘in the area’ surely the ship wouldn’t have been boarded which is the point.

The Red Sea ain’t small Dover. I gather that the Israeli missile boats are up north, where they are in position to best intercept bogies from Yemen before they reach targets in southern Israel.

The USN has been in the south of the sea, but small fast boats aren’t easy to stop unless warships are actually escorting them, and so far there’s been no convoying or escort systems being implemented.

The main issue is the IDF ships are probably too small to have a marine complement, but if they have helipads it might be possible to air cav teams in. Which may lead to lots of energetic fun and dead Houthi kiddies, if the IDF are at their usual level.

I don’t find it easy to empathise Dover.
I see the hundreds of thousands of Jews arriving in Israel empty handed, from Europe, from North Africe from the ME making a fresh start and looking forward to making a better life, and leaving unspeakable horror behind.
The Palestinians, most of whom were not indigenous to the region just nurse grievances, there are only so many orange groves in Jaffa.
I think what we see in reflective of ever festering muslim ideology that cannot abide anyone else having, well anything, really, but most of all the Jews, who should be perpetually cowed.
What a wretched society where women are effectively confined to breeding farms, where education is mostly hamas controlled indoctrination, where it’s almost impossible to better oneself, to get a job, to leave, to think for oneself.
It became clear to me that women only go out with brothers or fathers because alone, they are in real danger from muslim men, even fully draped.
That is their society.
Do you think if Palestinians were to show documents that they owned this or that piece of land and were given fair compensation, it would end?

This stuff is amusing.

Wall Street Lines Up To Back Nikki Haley’s 2024 Bid (19 Nov)

Wall Street financiers are looking to Nikki Haley as the candidate to pull the 2024 Republican nomination away from former President Donald Trump, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The Murdochs decided that Haley would be their girl after DeSantis hit the skids and Youngkin wouldn’t run, and they’ve been puffing her up for weeks now. Which has done exactly nothing, since actual righty voters do not want an elite RNC establishment pick.

Which isn’t stopping the puffing. What was it, again, about doing the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome?

The butchery wasn’t justified but neither do I think its hard to sympathize with the grievances,

Maybe consider the connotations and strength/weakness of words before they are placed forever in the world of ideas.

“the butchery wasn’t justified”………….just forget, for a moment, the second part of the statement & concentrate on those significant words.

I have lived, as many have on this blog, for quite a few years. I have struggled over those years to make sense of the world. I have embraced “left” causes in my muddled youth when I hadn’t sorted out the existence of “good” & “evil” in this world. I had settled on a world view which included a place for both, given the vast store of events in human history.

But 7/10 plumbed new depths for me. The significance of the barbarity (in “civilised” times) has triggered something of an existential crisis for me.

I have been a student of history all of my life, and studied both anthropology and modern and ancient (in particular) history. But I have been shaken by the nature of the events of 7/10. Yes – various communities have committed terrible things in so called “modern” times. But this – if you have become aware of the details and seen the photographs and other evidence of the atrocities – is something that reveals aspects of that socio-political dynamic in Islamic communities that many refuse to recognise.

This is all I will say.
