What have you got against John Williams, Cassie?

JC
JC
December 9, 2023 7:30 pm

JC, of course is totally sold on his opinion as fact.

No, it’s an opinion, you mentally impaired moron. There’s nothing factual about predictions.

Repeat after me, J.C. “Gold is a store of value” and do it several times until you finally work out that:

Did you read he piece and actually understand it, you delusion meathead?

.

.1 Gold is a store of value, then

Deutsche Bank strategist Jim Reid has data that goes back even further. Since 1800, gold has returned just 0.32% a year after inflation versus 3.07% for 10-year Treasury notes, and 6.83% for U.S. stocks. “Interestingly, we are only 15% above the peak during the American Civil War in the 1860s, when inflation was very high,” Reid writes. “So you can be a long-run inflationist but still be a bit underwhelmed by gold as an investment.”

In other words, gold has been a comparatively bad store of value over the very long term.

.2 It is a medium of exchange.

Oh FFS, you’re a moron. You have no idea what medium of exchange actually means. There’s nothing wrong with being ignorant of the term, but there is to use it to defend an argument when you have no idea what medium of exchange means. Learn what it actually means you delusional skank.

.3 only at the third point does it become profitable to buy and sell it.

What’s the third point, you dickless wonder?

Continually claiming that it is profitable or not to own it is a lie by misdirection.

Why is it a lie by misdirection? What exactly am I lying about?

I suppose you’re comfortable with that, as you are with any form of lying that gets you an advantage in anything you do.

I actually posted the piece because I believed the gold bugs would like to read the comment. I was half hoping you’d avoid reading the commentary, for the obvious reason that you’re a clown.

Now, I’m lying because I posted a piece on a subject I have little interest in for other people to enjoy? Can you see why I have zero respect for you and that you really need to stop talking to me? I’m just intolerant of your craven dishonesty and delusions. Just go away.

I’m conflicted. Do I throw out the music I love because the composer/singer is a moron?

They can be political morons but artistic worthies. And chances are that Peter Gabriel has merely been long exposed to inaccurate information: he may believe that the land that is Israel really was once a purely Palestinian homeland, that the Israelis really pushed them out of the way by military force, and Da Jooz are still trying to exterminate the innocent Palis who are guilty of nothing more than wanting to live in their own lands in peace.

His sympathies would thereby be reasonable.

Just wrong.

By mere dint of unquestioningly following the MSM narrative it would seem the ‘decent’ thing.

He is a singer. Not a thinker.

But if you have any scrapbooks with cutout newspaper pictures of him, with locks of hair or cigarette butts purporting to be his that cost you thousands on eBay, and pagers margined with glitter where you dreamily practiced signing “Mrs Calli Gabriel” over and over – might be time to visit the incinerator.

Arab culture, and particularly Arab men, like their women fat, even obese.

It was explained to me that the idea was to have the woman fat enough to continue breast feeding the sons up until the age of 1 year in case of very limited food.

Covid lovers going for the moonshot (the Hun):

Dogs and cats could be catching Covid from their owners.

Vets have reported pets being brought in to clinics unwell after a member of the household has had Covid, with the RSPCA warning owners to take precautions to prevent spreading the virus to their dogs and cats by washing their hands before preparing their animals’ food, and minimising contact with their pets while they are unwell.

It also recommends keeping dogs suspected of having Covid away from other dogs, so they don’t spread the virus.

In a wierd way, I am satisfied with the forecasts for continuing dry for the Gregory.

We had made the decision not to go ahead with the January seeding on the basis that forgone income was a superior outcome to lost capital. We have more than adequate fodder stocks to survive a failed wet.

But then a few minor storms arrived and the greed bug started playing its insidious games. “C’mon, give it a go”. It’ll work out”.

Hypocrisy reigns supreme in the Arab world.
If you think that there are facts, then yes. But the Arab muz world is not about facts it is about feelings and power. That is why the COP28 was such a success. A bunch of feelings people ( climate officiandoes) met a bunch of rich people who know how to manipulate feelings for power (the Arabs). Hamas, Iraqis, Jordanians, Lebs will never tell the truth. The concept of a ‘fact’ outside of a personal power is incomprehensible to them. If you get a chance read Sir Richard Burton’s journey – he nailed it.

But is Morrisey’s songs about love or whatever good because his politics is right?

Or is it just the songs resonating with you.

I don’t think there is a necessary political connection so you will find some artists agree with your politics and some won’t.

That said, some people (I hesitate to muse the word ‘artist’ as being a little to grandiose) who take their non-performative selves waaaay to seriously and make it so you cannot hear them or see them without associating their politics. I cannot watch George Clooney, for example, because every role he appears in he looks like that Obama-fellating half-wit.

Just like I would not give a brass razoo to any UN charity, I would not give a brass razoo to the Red Cross. The Red Cross took sides in World War II when it helped to hide and cover up the crimes of Nazis in World War II, and it is helping to hide and cover up the crimes of the Nazis in 2023.

From Powerline…

THE RED CROSS TAKES A SIDE

It is hard to understand why a wide range of non-governmental organizations, including but not limited to news organizations, have become embedded with Hamas in Gaza and are on Hamas’s side. A case in point is the Red Cross. From the Jerusalem Post:

Families of Israelis being held hostage by Hamas were reprimanded by representatives of the Red Cross in a meeting earlier this week, with the Red Cross telling one family they need to “think about the Palestinian side,” KAN reported on Thursday night.

Roni and Simona, the parents of Doron Steinbrecher who was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists from Kfar Azza on October 7, were invited to a meeting with the Red Cross earlier this week.

Doron needs a medication she takes daily and her parents thought that the Red Cross was finally willing to transfer the medication to her, but instead they were sat down and reprimanded by representatives of the Red Cross.

“Think about the Palestinian side,” the representatives of the Red Cross told Simona, according to KAN. “It’s hard for the Palestinians, they’re being bombed.”

I’m guessing the parents of the kidnapped Israeli have been thinking a lot about the Palestinian side, and what it did on October 7 and has been doing for many years. The upshot was that the Red Cross refused to try to get medicine to the Israeli hostage.

Those who assume moral equivalence between Israel and Hamas are bad enough–inexplicably bad, really–but how much worse are those supposedly civilized people and institutions that actually side with the mass murderers?

I haven’t heard the word “smiting” for a while, well it’s time to smite the Red Cross, the UN, Save the Children (except for Jewish children) and all the rest of the Jew hating NGO charities. They need to be eradicated, destroyed and erased. Enough, finito.

I love the story of their arrival in Basque country where they anticipated a fellow travellers’ welcome. They may have been welcomed except the idiots started killing dogs who the Basques adore.

Haven’t read it JohnJJJ, but dipped into the bio of RB and wife that came out a fair while ago now.

In it the writer talked about his meticulous preparation for his journey to Mecca. He steeped himself in Islamic practice so as not to give himself away as a European. One thing I remember was in crossing the threshold of a mosque one always did so with the right foot first. There were other little giveaways as well.

Here in Australia these so-called charitable organisations are anything but. 80 to 90% of their income comes from the taxpayer via government grants to (ostensibly) to do “good works” and so they don’t give two hoots about what the donating public actually are donating for. There are too many charities, too many little fiefdoms for people to make money and gain status. The church based ones I don’t know about. There are now so many charitable organisations these should be amalgamated to reduce the enormous waste that occurs. There are organisations that evaluate charities.

I wasn’t aware that charities relied so much on taxpayer funding. That compounds the problem.

One thing I remember was in crossing the threshold of a mosque one always did so with the right foot first. There were other little giveaways as well.

Interesting. This is actually a giveaway for a Jihadi, it is the same for the hamam ( i.e. the bathroom). A fact that can be used to identify them at an event ( Manchester?). There are many but I am sure our security service know them: no rings or watches on the left hand, no gold against the skin… There are many, they are listed in their books and are well known by Saudi security services.

Police arrest 72 climate activists in Melbourne CBD for blocking traffic outside Flinders Street Station

“We’re really sorry to be causing inconvenience we understand that it can be stressful but the climate breakdown is going to cause so much inconvenience that this will seem like a pleasant party compared to what we’re heading for,” Ms Coco said.

Ya gotta laugh. The photos are all of protesters being arrested whilst stopping traffic due to a “climate breakdown” on a miserable drizzly Melbourne summer day that is so characteristic of the kind of shitty weather that Melbournites are inexplicably proud of and it has always been thus.

America’s Equity Obsession: An Interview with Heather Mac Donald
Leading American institutions have adopted a simple ideological explanation for the nation’s perceived ills: systemic racism. Why are black Americans overrepresented in prisons and underrepresented in C-suites? Why do members of different groups tend to perform differently on standardized tests? From the concert hall to the faculty lounge to the corporate boardroom, our leaders insist that racial disparities can be fixed only with racial discrimination traveling under the banner of “equity.” That threatens not only American excellence but also the signal achievements of Western Civilization, according to Heather Mac Donald, author of When Race Trumps Merit: How the Pursuit of Equity Sacrifices Excellence, Destroys Beauty, and Threatens Lives.

From The Daily Telegraph…

‘Love always’: The glowing texts accuser sent to Alan Jones

One of the men who accused Alan Jones of sexually touching him sent several glowing text messages after the alleged incidents, expressing ‘gratitude’ for the role the broadcaster played in his life.

Veteran broadcaster Alan Jones has denied allegations he indecently assaulted several young men. It is unclear when the alleged incidents took place but at least four people have come forward detailing moments Mr Jones allegedly groped them without consent. The first accuser, a man called Brad Webster who doesn’t want his real name to be used, was 20 when he started working for the radio host at 2GB. At the time, 65 year-old Alan Jones, who was also a former Wallabies coach and political speechwriter, also had news columns and a national TV program. Mr Webster alleges Mr Jones touched his genitals as he drove him home from 2GB Studios, which he says was one of his job requirements. Lawyers representing Mr Jones say he denies all accusations, telling the Sydney Morning Herald that: “Our client denies ever having indecently assaulted the persons referred to in your letter, and your suggestion that he has is scandalous, grossly offensive and seriously defamatory of him.”

One of the men who accused Alan Jones of sexually touching him sent several glowing text messages after the alleged incidents expressing “gratitude” for the role the broadcaster played in his life.

The messages were sent to Jones by a former colleague who went public this week with claims that Jones repeatedly groped him and attempted to kiss him.

Jones strongly denied the allegations and announced plans to sue The Sydney Morning Herald, which published the story on Thursday.

In the text messages, sent between 2018 and 2020, the man thanked Jones for sending him a wedding card, revealed that his wife was pregnant, and also sent best wishes to the shock jock before and after his back surgery.

The messages were sent long after the man had left his job with Jones, and some were signed off with “love always”.

In a text message on October 22, 2018, the man thanked Jones for sending him a card for his wedding and he said became “quite emotional reading it”.

“I’ll never be able to appropriately express my gratitude for what you have done to my life,” the man wrote.

“For you to be there by my side on a most special day means far more than you could realise.

“I will always strive to make you proud of me.”

He ended the message with: “Thank you. From the bottom of my heart.”

On December 4, 2019, when Jones was battling back problems, the man wrote: “Good luck with your surgery, mate.”

“I know it’s been a tough year and we haven’t spoken as much, which makes me sad, but I understand why,” he wrote. “Often I’ve just wanted to give you a big hug.

“Please get some rest over Christmas and I hope you’re back fighting fit.”

In late 2019, he wrote: “I’m glad your (sic) not in pain and will be in your own bed tomorrow night” before announcing he and his wife were expecting a baby.

The man wrote he wanted Jones to be the “first to know” the “special news” before “all the other riff raff find out …”

On May 12, 2020, the man sent a congratulations text following Jones’ retirement announcement.

“I, along with so many others, owe my career to you,” he wrote.

“You’ve seen me get married and become a father. In all that time you have only ever treated me with great decency and tremendous generosity,

“You’re (sic) kindness towards me has never, ever wavered. Even when you may have felt entitled to allow it.

“I can only say thankyou.”

Further to media outlets like the SMH, their ABC, the Guardian, Ten and so on, it is pretty clear that when targeting individuals to destroy, the sole criteria is a person’s ideological bent, and so the likes of conservatives such as Alan Jones, George Pell, Bruce Lehrmann, Alan Tudge, Andrew Laming and others are considered fair game.

Kate McChlamydia, the mendacious muckraking mediocrity who calls herself a journalist, is behind the Jones’ allegations, and she was behind the Craig McLachlan allegations, which effectively destroyed McLachlan’s life and career.

The ignorance of the anti-Israel mob beggars belief

‘From the river to the sea,’ chant young middle-class Westerners. Yet many of them don’t even know which river and sea it is

MICHAEL DEACON
COLUMNIST

All over the Western world, armies of Left-wing students are marching in support of Palestine. Touching though it is to see the young taking an interest in politics, I find the ferocity of their passion somewhat curious. Not because these Western students live thousands of miles from Palestine. But because many of them seem to know next to nothing about it.

This week, Ron E Hassner – a professor of political science at the University of California, Berkeley – carried out a survey of students from across the US, to gauge the depth of their knowledge. First the students were asked whether they endorsed the controversial pro-Palestine chant, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” Those who said they did endorse it were then asked to name the river and the sea in question.

Remarkably, less than half of them could do so.

The correct answers are the Jordan and the Mediterranean. Yet 53 per cent of these crusaders for Palestinian rights didn’t know this. Some thought the river was the Nile. And even more incredibly, some thought the sea was the Caribbean.

A fascinating thought. Because, if Palestine stretches from the Nile to the Caribbean, that means it encompasses most of Africa, and indeed the West Indies. Which means that the students are calling for all non-Palestinian inhabitants of Africa and the West Indies to leave, so that the Palestinian people can at last reclaim their rightful territory.

Logically, in fact, the Atlantic ocean must be Palestinian, too. In which case, all the fish in it are settler colonialists. They, therefore, must also leave, so that the Palestinian people may swim peacefully once again in their rightful waters.

The most important point, though, is that if Palestine stretches from the Nile to the Caribbean, its territory does not include Israel. Which means the Israelis can keep it.

Cowardice at the heart of the lucky country

Australia, who have we become? When Israel’s government considers its citizens safer in Tel Aviv and Haifa than Bondi, Caulfield or Mount Lawley, it seems a prudent time to ask.

By GEMMA TOGNINI

(Angry chants of “F..k the Jews” and “Gas the Jews” rang out across the steps of the Sydney Opera House on October 9. Picture: Jasmine Kazlauskas)

From Inquirer
December 9, 2023

There’s a popular saying about good times producing weak men and hard times building strength. The phrase comes from a post-apocalyptic novel published in 2016 and, despite being a work of fiction, there’s truth in those words, I think.

Just as our muscles grow soft, flabby and weak in the absence of pressure from repeated time under tension, so it goes with the development of character and integrity – be it in individuals, communities, businesses or government.

This past week the Israeli government issued a travel warning for its citizens coming to Australia. The message was clear. The seemingly sudden and vicious rise in anti-Semitism from living rooms to boardrooms and classrooms across Australia means the lucky country is dangerous for Jews.

Australia, who have we become? When Israel’s government (which knows a thing or two about anti-Semitism) considers its citizens safer in Tel Aviv and Haifa than Bondi, Caulfield or Mount Lawley, it seems a prudent time to ask.

I don’t want to talk about the war specifically, though of course that’s the context.

Since October 7; since angry chants of “F..k the Jews” and “Gas the Jews” rang out across the steps of the Sydney Opera House on October 9; since carloads of thugs drove hours across suburban Melbourne to hurl glass bottles and rocks at a synagogue on Shabbat; since pro-Palestinian protesters invaded a Melbourne hotel where families of Israelis kidnapped or killed by Hamas were staying; since some media outlets and most of academe and the political left decided that terrorism is now a matter of opinion and deemed the steely, broken voices of Jewish survivors to be worth less than the shouts of their deniers; since all of these things, we have seen a growing ugliness in this country that I’d never have believed possible.

(Pro-Palestinian activists ambushed visiting friends and families of Israeli hostages at the Melbourne hotel they were staying at.)

(READ MORE: Bloodstained Sderot reminds: no excuses for silence | Silence is violence … but not for Jewish women | Crisis of courage in the face of unspeakable Hamas barbarism | Media regards claims of murderous monsters as legitimate | The Greens are, by sins of omission, soft apologists for Hamas |)

And it’s not the examples I’ve cited, though they’re the most prominent. It’s the universities that have said to Jewish students, do your exams at home, it’s safer, rather than acting with integrity to ensure campuses are safe for all students. It’s in the Jewish-owned businesses being boycotted and vandalised with hate symbols. It’s the dad who shared that school parents cancelled a play date because their children wore kippahs and they feared it was too dangerous to be seen as Jewish in public. It’s the friend in Western Australia from my university days who reluctantly decided to ask his daughter to stop wearing her Star of David. It’s not safe any more, he lamented.

It is in casual conversations I’ve been part of, others I’ve been told about. Everyday people, when confronted with the atrocities of this war and the rise in violent Jew hate in the community, who respond with a shrug or a weaselly “yeah, but”.

It is all of this. Slovenly, me-first, moral weakness that reeks of cowardice, because that is what is at the heart of this denialism. Cowardice. Who but a coward would respond to first-hand reports of a woman having her breasts sliced off, then being raped, with: “I need more proof.” Or worse still: “That’s Israeli propaganda.”

Hamas terrorists committed these atrocities, they filmed it, shared it gleefully with the world then boasted about. Survivors and first-hand witnesses have testified. Yet in Australia there’s a glowering murmur that says: Did it really happen?

How far we have fallen. In 1947 HV (Doc) Evatt, a former High Court justice and Labor MP for the federal seat of Barton in southwest Sydney, guided the UN vote in favour of the formation of the state of Israel. No doubt he was driven by moral compulsion, the memory of the Holocaust still fresh. Now? I imagine he and his contemporaries would be turning in their graves. Australian Labor today is but a shadow of its predecessors in terms of moral clarity and integrity. Australian Labor today is failing and flailing.

Oh, but I don’t want to be angry. I’m trying my best not to drown under the weight of it all, the rage within my chest, but how can people turn away? Everyone loves to say they’re an ally. An ally to the Indigenous community. The gay community. To women in the workplace. All of these are worthy of our allegiance, I’m not questioning that, but I am asking: Where are the allies for the Israeli people? Notice I said Israeli. Yes, a predominantly Jewish nation but 21 per cent of Israelis are Arab. Muslims, Druze, Christian, Bedouin. This is because Israel is a liberal, pluralistic society, yet another highly inconvenient, ignored, fact.

It’s in my nature, I think, to attempt to tease out and understand the heart of an issue. Here? I’m at a loss. There’s nothing rational or logical about it. There’s devastating recent world history to flag the warning signs, yet here we are, having to plead with our neighbours and colleagues to see the lights of the oncoming train.

Perhaps, and hear me out here, what we’re seeing is at least in some part a reflection of the price of peacetime. While no country in their right mind goes to war on a whim, the brutal truth of human nature as repeatedly shown throughout history is that often one must wage war to deliver peace.

For younger Australians, this experience of war, albeit at a safe distance, is their first. They know nothing of the price paid so they can wag school and shout “From the river to the sea”, spoiled and smug in their ignorance.

Peace? Yes, this is the ultimate goal, always. But some, like Hamas, don’t want it. Islamic State didn’t want it. Osama bin Laden didn’t want it. That means peace comes with a price. Those who bought ours with their lives are mostly long gone, so is it any wonder our collective memory is faded, our moral clarity so dimmed?

As for me? I will not be an ally to the weak and the immoral. I will not give my allegiance to comfort and convenience over truth, or sit in the company of mockers, armchair historians and anti-Semites. Just as Israel’s battle against Hamas is existential, so is Australia’s war on anti-Semitism. We must fight with renewed vigour while we still can.

Lefties: We respect the science!! you backwards trogs…

Also lefties

We will do a whole sharticle on a major newspaper condemning Javier Milei using…. astrologers as the basis for the sharticle.

As one of Argentina’s foremost astrologers, Gael Policano Rossi spends much of his life contemplating the future – and his prognosis for 2024 is bleak.

“I see chaos,” he replied when asked what the new year had in store for his country after the temperamental far-right libertarian Javier Milei became president.

As Policano smoked cigarettes down to their carrot-coloured ends, he predicted Argentina’s next leader, who takes office on Sunday, would oversee “a shock doctrine sh*tshow” and admitted his nicotine consumption had risen as a result.

“It’s the fu**ing Donald Trump agenda,” the 35-year-old astrologer and author warned over an afternoon coffee at his studio apartment-cum-consulting room in Santos Lugares, a town outside Buenos Aires.
….
Given the dearth of answers about Argentina’s fate, the Guardian asked two of the country’s best-known astrologers for their thoughts about the path ahead under the man they call “El Loco” (The Madman).

Policano, a leftwing poet, playwright and astrologer known as AstroMostra, offered a disturbing vision of the future.
He understood Milei’s victory as one of the last big upheavals in a 15-year period of disruption related to Pluto’s presence in Capricorn. That era, which began in 2008 and ends this year, saw the collapse of a succession of seemingly indestructible power structures, Policano said, citing the global financial crisis and Occupy Wall Street, the advance of the feminist movement, and Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Ludovica Squirru, a celebrity astrologer whose predictions are based on the Chinese zodiac, was unsure what Milei’s presidency held in store. “Milei is a metal dog … [and] the dragon year, which starts now, is his complementary opposite,” she said. “That means it could be the best or the worst year of his life.”

You cant parody them anymore, satire is dead.

Trump Is Absolutely Smoking Biden In Yet Another Major Poll

American lefties are so deranged about Trump they cannot understand:

— In a nation that despises politicians, Trump is the most popular politician since JFK.

— Trump is popular because (like JFK) he stands for the little man against the might of the state, which lefties are defending because they’re now the state. It’s three decades since lefties were the opposition – they’re now the Pig State they used to despise.

— The persecution of Trump has made him a martyr for a cause that 80%+ of the population supports – even if they despise Trump.

Yeah, Gabor.
I understand the CDU having that base in the south & south-ish.
But I would have thought more pockets of AfD across the country.
And more CSU pockets in the east

Interesting that Hamburg and other ports as well as the Ruhr and what looks Ludwigshafenish(BASF) are the west German pockets, and Berlin is CDU/CSU.

The CDU & CSU are essentially the same party the CSU is the Bavarian version of the CDU – think aussie National Party and LNP in Qld.

Brits May Be Forced To Take Selfie Before Watching Porn

BY TYLER DURDEN

Authored by Paul Joseph Watson via Modernity.news,

Brits may be forced to take a selfie and upload it to an adult website before watching porn under new rules to protect children.

Ofcom could force websites to use “facial age estimation” technology to confirm users are age appropriate.

Such technology is seen as more “privacy-friendly” because it would avoid viewers having to upload personal IDs or credit card information.

However, the shame aspect of having to take a selfie in order to watch hardcore pornography is very likely not just to prevent children accessing such material, but adults too.

ISRAEL WARNED NOT TO OFFEND GAZANS

You see this every time conflict breaks out between Israel and Palestinian terrorists. This time, it is the Telegraph, but you can find many more examples: “How the invasion of Gaza risks radicalising a new generation of Palestinians.”

As opposed to the generation that launched the October 7 massacre, apparently.

Air strikes and a lightning ground offensive in the north forced more than a million people into southern Gaza, a pocket of relative safety until last week when it too came under bombardment.

The future of the whole of Gaza, and indeed the Gazan people, is now more uncertain than ever as concerns grow that the war is fostering yet more animosity between Israel and the Palestinian people.

What fosters animosity between Israel and the Palestinian people is the sick Palestinian culture, which has reached its apotheosis in Gaza, that teaches children that killing Jews is the highest possible aspiration.

You have probably heard the audio recording of the young Hamas terrorist who called his parents in the midst of the slaughter to report that he had killed ten Jews.

They were suitably proud of him.

The idea that Palestinians would be peaceful if only Israel would stop defending itself is either a fantasy or a deliberate attempt to undermine Israel’s security.

What will diminish the likelihood of future October 7s is a crushing victory in the current war, that convinces Palestinians that dedicating themselves to destroying Israel was a catastrophic mistake.

“The river from the sea /
Makes Hamas tunnels so drippy!”

Israel’s IDF flushes Hamas’s tunnels with sea water — and sends terrorists scurrying out like rats

Hear that flushing noise?

Amid all the screeching of the anti-Semitic global elites, the haze of pro-Hamas global protests, and the Biden administration’s efforts to micromanage how Israel conducts its war against avowed terrorists, Israel’s Defense Forces have been quietly takin’ care of business.

AT’s editor, Andrea Widburg has written about the mass surrenders which is happy news indeed, here.

But how they did it is fascinating.

These pictures of this mass surrender are circulating now all over the arab countries, especially on Palestinian social media accounts, and their morale is on the floor now. LFG!!!

This is very important, Hamas savages in Gaza who surrounded themselves to save their lives.

Why is important? In the ME culture, this kind of humiliation (naked and on the ground) goes a long way toward showing that they are defeated.

I was really down on Milei succeeding and this was compounded more so by the Argentinian dude I met (also a libertarian fellow traveller) who was pessimistic.

In my opinion, Milei has one huge problem, which is the foreign debt. His policies need to be pushed in omnibus style and all at once.

He needs to

1 Deregulate the labor market
2. Close down departments and fire masses of government schleps.
3. Government spending has to be cut massively
4. Privatisation
5. Cut red tape.
Then comes the dollarisation

The privatising has to be carefully performed and constructed in a way that foreign investors are totally comfortable holding Argentine assets and feel safeguarded against expropriation by future leftist trolls. In my mind he can only achieve this by incorporating important provisions allowing foreign investors the ability to seek compensation against Argentine assets held overseas.

Privatisation is the most important element of the package because it then allows Dollarisation.

God’s speed.

It’s sad to see a guy who is believed to be the oldest working journalist in the world, who saw Krystallnacht and who fought the Nazis as a soldier in the British Army, be so pessimistic. But he’s seen it and done it and lived through it over a long life.

Not my place to say much else, other than the explosion in really nasty antisemitism from so many people here in Australia and in many other countries is breathtaking, and not in a good way. Hamas seems to ripped Pandora’s Box open and all sorts of horrors are suddenly spraying out of it.
