Will the Supreme Court Save the Nation?

“This effort to prevent Trump from running for President is presenting a major CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS. We have the extremely LEFTIST Supreme Court of Colorado ruling unconstitutionally that Trump should be barred from being on the ballot. Then we have the Michigan Supreme Court ruling against Colorado. Now, the State of Maine, another LEFTIST government, is also seeking to follow Colorado.

These Leftist Governments are planning to really destroy the Constitution in any way they possibly can. Not a single person on January 6th was criminally charged with the Insurrection Statute. Yet, these LEFTIST states are trying to use the 14th Amendment to block Trump from running when it has NEVER been used even once in history against any Southerner.

These states are fulfilling the warnings of Nikita Khrushchev (1894-1971). They are so anti-Constitution and are allowing this country to be flooded with people from South America who have traditionally been Marxists, which is why they have destroyed their own economies and are flooding into the United States for free food, clothing, healthcare, and to be taken care of for life as long as they vote for the Marxists here determined to destroy the US economy.

Our model warns of a recession from May 7th, 2024, into 2028. As Chairman Powell of the Federal Reserve warned, this spending by Biden is “unsustainable,” and there may not even be an election by 2028. Democracy is all about letting the people decide. States are rigging the ballots so that no challenger in the Democratic primary may appear on any ballot, leaving no choice for Democrats but Biden. Then, they are trying to prevent Trump from running at all. This is not Democracy – it is totalitarianism.

I fear we have reached the end of the rule of law. If the Supreme Court strikes down these Marxist States, they will only claim it was a Republican Decision. The very idea of a “UNITED” formation of states can no longer be justified. The nation has become so deeply divided; as Abraham Lincoln once said, a house divided cannot stand. This is what we face as we move into 2032. The Supreme Court instigated the Civil War with the Dread Scott decision when they tried to defuse the potential for the Civil War.

Emerson was Scott’s owner, and he allowed Scott to get married and left Scott and his wife in Wisconsin when Emerson traveled to Louisiana. Emerson died in 1843, and Scott attempted to purchase his freedom from Emerson’s widow, but she refused. Dread Scott argued that since he became a permanent resident in the federal territory of Wisconsin, which prohibited slavery, he became a freeman. The district court applied the laws of Missouri to find Scott was still a slave, and the Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed. It then went to the Supreme Court, in a hotly watched issue, then much as removing Trump from the ballots today. In a highly contentious opinion written by Chief Justice Taney, he held that persons of African descent were not citizens of the United States. The Court reasoned that, at the time of the ratification of the U.S. Constitution, persons of African descent were brought to the U.S. as property and, whether later freed or not, could not become U.S. citizens. With that decision, the Civil War became the solution. Abraham Lincoln was never on the ballots in 10 states: South Carolina, North Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Texas, Georgia, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Virginia. He did not receive any votes from the states that would later form the Confederacy besides Virginia, where Republicans secured 1% of the votes. History is repeating once again. Today, the Marxist-following states that do not believe in Equal Protection of the Law seek to remove Trump from their ballots as well to prevent him from becoming president, precisely as was done to Abraham Lincoln.

Regardless of how the Supreme Court rules, as in Dread Scott, one side will never support the outcome. It is questionable if the United States will ever be able to stand as one nation once again.”

That doesn’t prevent pretty well every GP in our practice putting the fear of God into patients regarding their cholesterol levels.

Yep, they are very good employees of pharma – aiming the consult towards a statin script whenever possible – just ask them if they know that statins double your risk of diabetes, which IS an actual risk factor for heart disease.

I should have given every one of them a copy, for Christmas, of Dr. Malcolm Kendrick’s book, “The Clot Thickens”.

Highly recommended, I have gifted multiple copies to people myself

I am yet to hear how “bureaucracy” ruins the life of a pilot.
A big chunk of those “bureaucratic rules” are what keep aviation relatively safe.

At least in the COVID arena, CASA appeared to follow the same script as AHPRA:

1) Mandate an untested therapeutic, contrary to all previous practice
2) Censor and if necessary, deregister dissenters.

As an example, they cancelled the career of senior Qantas Captain Graham Hood for refusing to take the jab due to its unknown risks, particularly at altitude. He had 32,000 hours btw, and claimed to have ‘never left a passenger up there’.

Has Europe Just Committed Suicide?

“Europe has laid the groundwork for World War III and the destruction of Europe as a whole, all to save its failed fiscal management of the economy. Using the Ukrainian war that the West instigated by promising democratic elections to the Donbas in BAD FAITH just for being Russian, the European Union Council adopted a 12th sanctions package against Russia. This time, they sealed the fate of the world and Europe by also announcing that the end of this contrived Ukrainian war would not be lifted after the conflict ended. From the very beginning, Europe negotiated in BAD FAITH with the intent of creating war. They promised to allow the Donbas the dignity and respect every human society deserves – the right to determine their own fate by a free election.

The Donbas was to be allowed to vote on their independence all because Nikita S. Khrushchev had merely redrawn borders for administrative purposes, designating that they would be governed from Kiev. The New York Times has put out real propaganda just as they once hailed Stalin as the economic model for the United States back during the Great Depression. When Gareth Jones (1905-1935) in March of 1933 exposed the New York Times reporting as propaganda, the truth finally began to appear. However, it still took the New York Times until 1990 to admit they engaged in fake news pushing communism on America. The NYT wrote that their reporting on the Russian Revolution constituted “some of the worst reporting to appear in this newspaper.” Their journalist Duranty even supported Roosevelt’s New Deal. He helped install drastic progressiveness in taxation. This time, the New York Times outright lied:

“Mr. Putin is repeating his longstanding argument that Ukraine’s borders are an artificial creation of Soviet planners who unjustly cordoned rightful Russian land within the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.”

Is the New York Times just cheering on World War III in hopes of resurrecting a totalitarian state in the aftermath?

Anyone with any sense of history knows that there was NEVER a Ukraine, and the border of Russia under the Tsars was the Dnieper River. The very name “Ukraine” means borderland. They joined with Hitler, who promised them their own country upon his victory. Kiev was the birthplace of the Rus (Russians), whose city was destroyed by the Mongol invasion of 1240AD. They were dispersed, and eventually, Moscow began to rise as a city.

This is why, to this very day, much of Eastern Ukraine is still the homeland of Russians who were promised to be able to hold their own election to separate from Ukraine to rejoin their own ethnic people. It was Khrushchev who redrew the borders, as Putin stated during the Soviet Union period.

Not only did Khrushchev rise through the ranks to head Russia after being in charge of rebuilding Kiew after World War II, but his successor, Brezhnev, was born in the Donbas, which the West wanted to now claim was Ukraine to provoke war.

There are NO Ukrainian coins. The earliest coins of Kiev are that of the Rus or Russians. After the fall of Kiev to the Mongols in 1240, there were no coins. Money became foreign Byzantine coins or silver ingots known as hryvnias. During World War I, there was a brief attempt West of the D River, creating the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917 to 1921. This involved some paper money that was briefly issued. The first coinage of Ukraine as a nation was in 1992. Because the Rus displayed a trident on their coinage, today, the Ukrainians try to claim they were their coins, but this was just not true.

The war for the territory that was NEVER the borderland and thus NEVER occupied by Ukrainians amounts to a territorial grab. It would be as if Mexico seized Texas and then outlawed English as a language. Over 500,000 Ukrainians have died in these proxy war games waged by the West. Merkel has so much blood on her hands that it will NEVER be washed off. She will go to her grave with the stain of so many people who have died for her treachery. Is it truly worth the destruction of Europe all for this nonsense of personal hatred of Russians because they were once communists? Or is this really just a cover-up for the economic collapse of a failed Western economy that borrows every year with no intention of ever paying off any such debt?

The Ukrainians hate Russians so profoundly that they have outlawed their religion, and now Ukraine has even abandoned Eastern Orthodox Christianity. They have now announced that Christmas will be that of Western Christianity – December 25th. Whatever they can do to offend every Russian living in what they claim is Ukraine, they are doing, and the West supports this abuse, even denying the freedom of religion. All of this is because the West needs war as the excuse for the collapse of the monetary system.

The people of Russia never wanted to return to the days of the Soviet Union. Once they tasted freedom, all the propaganda that Putin wanted to resurrect the old Soviet Union was just nonsense. Rome was the greatest empire ever to exist, with decades of peace because everyone benefited from the common market. Europe has chosen hatred rather than prosperity driven by the Neocons, who now also control NATO. The future is being determined right now. Europe has just condemned its own people to war. For what? To deny the people of the Donbas what the West had promised under the Minsk Agreement? Or are they, too, just pawns in this game to retain power?

The new sanctions package they recently announced includes a ban on the import, purchase, or transfer of diamonds from Russia beginning on January 1, 2024, and tightens enforcing a Western price cap on Russian oil at $60 a barrel. Worse still, they have violated international law and set a highly dangerous precedent whereby some 61 people and 86 Russian companies were also sanctioned, according to a list published by the European Commission. They have even sanctioned Putin’s cousin, Anna Tsivileva, and the son of former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Ilya Medvedev. If there is a dispute between countries, this precedent destroys the rule of law and the world economy. So if a war between the US and China unfolds, then each side can confiscate the assets of private citizen based entirely on their race and ethnic background.

The world economy has been torn to shreds. It will NEVER return before 2032. We are looking at the economic decline our Model warns will unfold between May 7th, 2024, and 2028 as we head into 2032. The leaders of the West are NOT interested in peace. They are brainwashed by the Neocons and NATO, which has been scared to death that peace with Russia makes them irrelevant. So, to retain all the jobs in NATO, their self-interest is always to talk up war. Peace means they are no longer relevant or necessary.

This is NOT my personal opinion. If I could stop it, I certainly would. Our leaders are playing with more than fire; they are playing with the destruction of Western Society as we have known it since the end of World War II. These stupid sanctions have ensured that globalization has come to an end. It was that economic interconnection that created the countless years of peace under the Roman Empire – Pax Romana. The cornerstone of civilization is free trade. When everyone benefits by joining together, the economy expands, and peace flourishes.

What our illustrious leaders are doing is following the Neocon recipe for war. Impose sanctions, wage economic war, and the people will overthrow their governments. The Russians and Chinese are NOT stupid. They know who is waging this economic war, and it is the West. The West has undergone a coup like Rome many times. The Neocons are in complete control of the White House and the EU, not to mention the NATO – The North American Terrorist Organization. These people are trying to conquer the world, not much different than the ambitions that drove Alexander the Great (336–323BC), Hannibal (221–202 BC), Julius Caesar (58-44BC), Attila the Hun (434-453), and Genghis Khan (1206-1227), Napoleon (1799-1815), Adolf Hitler (1934-1945), Josef Stalin (1924-1953).

1833 Russia 12 Roubles PlatinumCyclically, 2024 is right on schedule with Russia’s 72-year revolutionary cycle. Many have dreamed of the conquest of Russia, for it is one of the wealthiest nations in natural resources, which include gold, platinum, and diamonds. Russia produced platinum coins between 1828 and 1845. No Western Nation was ever able to produce Platinum coinage.

Indeed, just before the Communist Revolution of 1917, Russia had the largest gold reserves of any nation on earth. Kolchak Alexander VasilyevichFor nearly 100 years, people have been searching for those gold reserves, which weigh nearly 500 tons (a ton equals 32,150.7 troy ounces of gold). That is 16,075,350 ounces or $32.150 billion at $2,000 an ounce. The Russian Empire’s gold reserve fell into the hands of Alexander V. Kolchak in November of 1918 when he overthrew the government in Siberia supported by the Triple Entente allies. Kolchak was the leader of the White Anti-Bolshevik movement in Siberia during the years of the Russian Civil War. The gold was transported from the capital, Petrograd, during WWI because of the German threat of invasion of the city.

Kolchak’s gold, as it has been called, has been looked for on the Yamal Peninsula. Others suggest carts with Kolchak’s gold might have been found in the Altai Region. Still, others have said that Kolchak’s gold was dropped into Lake Baikal. These headlines have been following the search for the Russian Empire’s gold.

For the first time since World War II, German troops have crossed Poland, moving to Lithuania to defend the border with Belarus/Russia being stationed there until 2027. NATO cannot admit Ukraine as long as it is at war. Therefore, NATO is seeking to create the same situation in the Baltics, and the people of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are now to be sacrificed on the altar of the Neocons along with the more than 500,000 dead troops of Ukraine and the 8 to 10 million Ukrainian refugees who have fled to Europe with no intention of returning home.
Estonia has passed the same law as Ukraine, outlawing the Russian language to discriminate against the Russian population that lives there. Can you imagine if the US outlawed Spanish or Canada outlawed speaking French? This is a deliberate act to invoke a response from Russia as they did to the people in the Donbas. NATO wants war, and they are determined to create World War III. Nobody is interested in peace whatsoever.

Lithuania is now considering imposing a “WAR TAX” on its people, as reported by the local press- BNS. Yet, BNS interviewed 16 economists, who agreed that increasing defense funding is necessary. However, they disagree on whether it needs a separate tax, with only five supporting that. This tax they seemed to foolishly tell the people they are seeking to boost their deterrence capabilities, insisting that it will not be possible to rely on borrowed funds alone.
News agency BNS asked sixteen economists and experts to evaluate the defense tax idea this year. Five would tend to support it; eight believe that a separate tax is not necessary. BNS also noted that the tax can be debated, but would the taxes collected be used transparently and according to the intended purpose? Another emphasized the priority is to have not only resources but also robust and efficient government institutions.

Death of EuroThe design of the Euro was unsustainable in the long term. The ONLY way the Euro could have competed with the dollar was to consolidate the debts. However, Chancellor Kohl knew he would have lost 7:1 had he allowed the German people to vote on joining the Euro. So, he admitted he denied any democratic principle, took Germany into the Euro, denying the people a right to vote, so the compromise was that there would be no debt consolidation. I know since the commission came to our 1998 London Conference, and I warned then there would NEVER be a single interest rate in Europe for the member would be no different from the states in the USA – each pays a rate based upon their credit score.

Unfortunately, now, with debt crumbling beneath the surface, they need to escape responsibility for the coming sovereign debt crisis. The way to do that is W A R! They are pushing hard to get Sweden into NATIO.

This is the unspoken agenda. Sadly, these people in power do not care about the people. There are too many of us anyway, according to Bill Gates. They are deliberately seeking to use the Baltics to try to get Russia to take the bait to justify World War III. NATO is also expanding its authority to Asia, knowing that this will be a war between the West, Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran, just for starters.

Kaja KallasThe small nation of Estonia is also desperately trying to sacrifice its people for NATO and the Neocons. Prime Minister Kallas is using Estonia’s strategic position to further this proxy war with Russia. She has outright stated that negotiating a peace deal with Putin is off the table. She is willing to sacrifice her own people for personal safety before she gets a free flight to the USA.

“For us, it is important to not make that mistake again like we did in Crimea, Donbas, Georgia,” she said. “We have done the same mistake already three times, saying that, you know, negotiations, negotiated peace is the goal. … The only thing that Putin hears from this is that ‘I can do this because no punishment will follow.’”

She deliberately fails to mention the Minsk Agreement and how the West negotiated peace in bad faith because this has been the intention from the very start – to create World War III to end democracy and move to a totalitarian state proposed by Klaus Schwab and the end of the United States as all power is then usurped into the United Nations.”

Note that it is indicated in asymptomatic patients at ‘moderate risk’ (ie the vast majority of people who have never had a heart attack but are being pushed to take a statin) and tell them you want proof you have coronary disease (the calcium score does this) before you will consider longterm therapy with statins, due to their side effects.

If they refuse, get a new GP, yours is incompetent and not listening to what you, the patient, wants.

There are studies on humans demonstrating that statin use can increase the rate of arterial calcification. I looked into it because of animal study finding some statins inhibited the production of MK 4, a vitamin K2 believed to play a role in calcium management.

Most people think statins are just about cholesterol management. Statins have also demonstrated increased nitric oxide production and reduced inflammation, both being important for health in general.

I’m not as black and white as some here. Statins generally appear to provide good benefits for people who have had a heart attack. GPs though seems to prescribe statins solely on the basis of cholesterol levels. There are at least 3 cardiologists on youtube with differing opinions. The literature is dense and confusing, GPs don’t read that literature, and the ones that do, cardiologists, have differing opinions.

Statin research makes so many claims of benefit, including protection from some cancers and dementia, that statins appear to be wonder drugs. Yet doctors will routinely mock claims about supplement X being able to cure so many conditions because that is just too good to be true.

I always challenge doctors.

My coronary artery calcium scores are considered very good, especially for my age.

I think that could probably be used to ameliorate any heavy-handed pressure for statins in my case. The heart specialist who supervised my calcium CHD tests of course recommended statins, but when I looked dubious he said it was entirely up to me. They weren’t really necessary.

He also added that he considered statins fairly useless for people over 80 and that they were completely ineffective once over 85. You should stop taking them then.

Good news, I said to him. All I have to do is get older. I’ll wing it without till then.

John H, I think one has to be very careful in the way a patient challenges a doctor’s advice. At the end of the day, a doctor will concede to the way a patient challenges the advice because ultimately it’s the patient who decides. This is also an easy way out for the doctor to simply go along with the patient. No skin if the patient refuses.

Thanks Duk. I hadn’t seen this document. I did know that a recent research document suggesting that CACs are being over prescribed & over relied upon has caused something of a furore in medical circles here. But it is clear from the RACGP document that a more restrained approach is being recommended re CACs. I suspect that many GPs haven’t seen it.

As for changing GPs – I have been at the same practice for a couple of decades. I have moved on from several in the practice when diagnoses have proved incorrect. Even more so if an MPH or similar is their only claim to post-graduate medical research themselves. It is sometimes helpful to let them know. Years ago a colonoscopy I had produced an embedded and rather nasty polyp 7cm long, and the gastroenterologist gave me three excellent papers to read on re-evaluations of the ‘staging’ of bowel cancers. Very helpful. An endocrinologist also did a search for me for papers on making the shift from oral to transdermal oestrogen, pros and cons for this following a provoked DVT. He’d printed off some relevant sections which we discussed. Again, very helpful.

At the end of the day, a doctor will concede to the way a patient challenges the advice because ultimately it’s the patient who decides. This is also an easy way out for the doctor to simply go along with the patient.

You are fortunate in your experience. One relief GP years ago tried to stop me going on an OS trip because she was convinced I had Pertussis (Whooping Cough). I actually have very mild Bronchiectasis – which I have had for years. She didn’t, & I got on my plane – but it was an unpleasant experience.

lol. As if I would, JC. I’d go straight to Google Scholar and Medline to check it up at source for myself. Decide then how good various studies are, or aren’t. Discuss if necessary with GP or Specialist. I was given the option of ‘watchful waiting’ with my ovarian lesions, did some quick searches, and booked in for a major op for removal asap. Not buggerising around with anything like that. Hairy and I combined did the same thing for his prostate cancer; picked brachytherapy and he’s never looked back.
Very minimal side effects. He’s at ten year ‘cure’ now, but we say that cautiously.

I get the professional-level Medscape into my inbox four times daily for various interesting recent papers and discussions. Certainly haven’t got time to read them all.

Gee, I bet they love you, John H.

The tactic is easy. Start referencing the literature. GP responses can vary. For the most part doctors have respected my input. I don’t go into it with a supercilious attitude, rather that we work together. There is evidence that doctors are human beings and are subject to the behavioral repertoires of human beings.

I won’t go into too many details here – but a few years back I had a persistent digestive problem. GP couldn’t help – in fact he (not my regular GP) refused to prescribe an intensive antibiotic since the PCR had come back negative for a parasite infection. So I consulted a gastroenterologist – no red flags, he said. But I continued to be mildly ill. Took things into my own hands – literally – with a suspicious stool. Being on a farm I was reminded that earlier in the season I had eaten out delicious figs off our tree – which we do not use pesticides on. I also recalled fruit flies around the figs. For a week I drank pure celery juice (an emetic) & I took the sample back to GP & insisted on a lab test. Result? A fruit fly larvae.

Within a week of the celery juice process I was on my way back to normalcy. The GP after that satirically called me “Dr” – although I assume she doesn’t know I am an academic “Dr” of an entirely different area than medicine. But I simply won’t ever accept a diagnosis that doesn’t accord with the evidence.

And yet they defeated the Crusader States and the Mongols in the Levant.

Thanks for that.
I had to double check. In both major battles (Ayn Jalut and Hattin) the Muslims were Mameluke i.e. slaves such as Mongols (Bahri) lead by Kurds and Turks (Seljuk)- not Arabs i.e. of the Mohammed variety.
It took a while as I lent my Armies of the Sand to an Israeli. Mo’s method stays. One of the Hadith ( if I remember) is that you raid with the desert at your back. Then retreat to the desert so the pursuing enemy will die of thirst.
My guess is that this is why Israel is more concerned with the Iranians. They are not Arab and far more disciplined.

I confess, Lizzie, that I was a bit freaked out when Covid came on the scene because of the bronchial condition. The first round of Covid I contracted in 2022 was pretty much a non event – 3 -5 days of blocked eustachian tubes & loss of taste & small. All good. However, the new strain that husband and I contracted in mid October was far more intense. We both had a curious cough from what we think was more post nasal congestion, than bronchial. It was quite intense coughing – almost as though the body really didn’t like this type of viral congestion.

My oxygen levels remained high – so, in spite of the nasty cough the bronchial were coping well. BTW my specialist years ago explained that Bronchiectasis leaves the end of the bronchials “floppy” so that overnight they get a little congested – causing the characteristic cough in the morning. Don’t know whether you get that Lizzie – but it is just an almost “normal” thing for me. A few coughs they are clear.

And BTW when the bronchiectasis was first diagnosed all those years ago my then GP gave me the “sombre” news with a majorly serious face. I insisted on seeing a specialist – a very well known pulmonary bloke – who tested me & queried whether I had been an athlete, since my lung capacity was so expansive! I told him I walked a lot – especially up a famous hill in our Sydney area. No treatment necessity.

Jets seemed to go down a lot during the 80s with the blame placed on wind shear. What ever happened to wind shear?

The first thing was understanding the conditions which gave rise to it and avoiding them.
The next big thing was Mr Doppler.
Detection via radar basically eliminated the risk.
The phenomenon doesn’t usually persist for long so easy to avoid.

Challenging doctors needs to be done cautiously, if at all. Lizzie’s advice to just sack the ones that don’t measure up is sound, IMHO. The arrogant ones will never shift, even in the face of solid evidence.

I have had a couple of scraps with the Hindu Princess, but usually she takes the view that it’s my funeral, so to speak, and documents that I declined her suggestion. She asked me if I wanted COVID ‘vaccine’ and I said no, and that was the end of it.

My Christmas was marred by a stuff-up in my arthritis pain medication – the e-script didn’t come through for some reason and the clinic promptly closed down till the New Year. Since old people with chronic pain conditions are treated like street junkies by the health system, and I only had a couple of days worth left, things looked grim. Fortunately, my regular pharmacy gave me a print out of my prescription history and I managed to find a friendly doctor at a clinic I previously attended who was able to verify that I was a genuine patient. It was touch and go, though.

In fairness to doctors, they are routinely bullied by various arms and legs of the bureaucracy in ways that prevent them from looking after their patients properly. As I and others keep saying here, pain management is one of the worst examples of the precautionary principle/one size fits all approach favoured by lazy health bureaucrats and their professional bodies.

These beautiful non creatures must die …

Fatty Trump, on song, again:

Following 9/11, Trump wanted twin towers rebuilt

In the years following the attacks of New York on Sept. 11, 2001, Donald Trump pushed a proposal that would have rebuilt the World Trade Center’s iconic twin towers, with the only difference being the tower’s being five stories taller.

Instead of going with Trump’s plans, New York City officials opted to build the 1776-foot-tall Freedom Tower at the site of the World Trade Center. The 94 story building opened in July 2013 after seven years on construction.

In an interview on MSNBC in 2005, a decade before starting his run for president, Trump called the Freedom Tower “disgusting” and a “junk yard.”

“I would rather have nothing than what they’re building,” Trump said. “It was a terrible design; it was designed by an egghead architect who doesn’t have a lot of experience designing something like this.”

Trump said he simply wanted the World Trade Center’s twin towers back.

“What I want to see built is the World Trade Center stronger and maybe a story taller,” Trump said before construction of the Freedom Tower. “That is what everyone wants.”

The New York real estate mogul claimed that rebuilding a taller version of the twin towers, which were destroyed by terrorists who flew planes into the buildings on Sept. 11, 2001, would not allow the terrorists to win.

“If rebuild the World Trade Center stronger and a story taller, we win,” Trump said. “I don’t want to have the terrorists win, and that’s what will happen if we build this pile of junk.”

Trump’s proposal essentially died in 2006 as officials called for the groundbreaking of the Freedom Tower.

18 days ago, President Javier Milei was inaugurated in Argentina. Since then:

Gets even better.

Argentina’s Javier Milei Sends Giant Deregulation ‘Omnibus’ Bill to Congress (28 Dec)

On the matter of state reforms, the bill proposes to declare all of the roughly 40 state-owned companies as “subject to privatization,” including the oil company YPF, the Aerolíneas Argentinas airline, the Banco Nación bank, the Télam news agency, water company AYSA, and the Ferrocarriles Argentinos railway company. It also proposes that the Argentine state will no longer be able to regulate fuel, power, and gas prices.

The proposal includes an article that prohibits the use of the word “free” for benefits or services that are paid for with taxpayers’ money.

On taxes, the bill includes provisions to allow persons or entities to regularize up to $100,000 in cash, real estate, assets, or cryptocurrencies without paying taxes. The text proposes a new comprehensive regime for the regularization of tax, customs, and social security obligations, eliminating certain existing taxes such as a tax currently imposed on anyone who sells a property bought after 2018.

The bill will also eliminate a 50-percent customs tax on Argentine citizens or residents who return from a flight bringing products for personal use worth over $500.

On education, the bill would modify the functionality of Argentina’s public universities so that they can charge tuition and other fees to foreigners who are not residents in Argentina, stating that public university education will continue to be tuition-free “for every native or optional Argentine citizen and for every foreigner who has permanent residence in the country.”

Other education-related proposals pertain to the implementation of a mandatory final test for high school students “that measures the learning acquired and the capabilities developed” prior to their graduation. Teachers must revalidate their skills and knowledge every five years, under criteria to be determined by the corresponding authorities.

The bill proposes reforms to the Argentine penal code to greatly expand the definition of “legitimate defense,” eliminating penalties for those who use weapons in cases of self-defense.

Be interesting to see if the Argie Congress fails to pass this bill. He says if they don’t he’ll take it to a plebiscite. Popcorn!

“this summer” goes right off the rails.

Where I am, summer began pleasantly mild, with daytime temps around 25. Then, on Christmas Eve, the temp plummeted and for five full days it flatlined at 12 – 16 degrees, with wind, constant drizzly rain and not one skerrick of sunshine until yesterday.

Amazing! And for me, wonderful; cooking and feasting with the wood fire roaring away. This has never happened before in my five decades of preparing and hosting Christmas lunch. No worries about the prawns and crayfish getting warm, no air conditioner and no flies. Not one!

Of course, my delight was despair for the kidlets and doggies: no water pistols/blasters, no water slide and no cricket. Everyone stuck inside, all day, with nothing to do but eat (my homemade) Christmas pudding and brandy custard, play carols on the piano and sing along. How sad. 🙂

100% agreement that I won Christmas this year with my gifts: cruises on the One and All tall ship for all five fellas, beauty stuff for the grandgirls from ‘unlabelled’, who claim to donate their profits for the prevention of youth suicide and for daughter, an exquisite metal sign with the name they have chosen for our house.

A lovely day – a lovely Christmas week – with up to 10 extras for meals and accommodation. Now our attention turns to New Year’s Eve with eight overnighters – some in their own caravans – and a Chinese banquet. Prawn toast and spring rolls, as usual, from me, with maybe a Mongolian lamb and honey chicken. This will be some banquet!

As for the weather, instead of hovering around 35 nasty degrees as usual, the temps this year are predicted to be a nice, cool 26 C. Love global warming!

We need some serious disruption of the status quo.

Hard to see where that is going to come from. Getting on for 20 years since Howard, and you wouldn’t say the final 2 terms of that government set things on fire either. Have to give them the GST, although much of the promised tax reform around it failed to appear.

Israel will win. We Jews will prevail. Am Yisrael Chai.

I don’t have a reference, and I think the Israeli politician involved may have been Golda Meir, but there was an interview given, soon after the discovery that the State of Israel possessed atomic weapons, and the means of delivery, in the shape of F4 Phantom aircraft.

“Does this mean the State of Israel would strike at Moscow, if all looked like being lost, in another Yom Kippur War?”

“All things are possible.”

“Given the aircraft would need aerial refueling, to make a return journey, any refueling aircraft may well be shot down, meaning this would be a one – way mission, with no hope of return for the aircrew?”

“The young men of Israel know their duty to the State of Israel.”

From The Oz…

John Howard would not vote for Donald Trump if he had a vote in the US presidential election next year because the former president failed to accept the outcome of the 2020 election and fraudulently tried to overturn the result.

The former prime minister (1996-2007) told The Weekend Australian he would have “ever so reluctantly” voted for Mr Trump in 2020 because he identifies more with Republicans than Democrats, but could not do so in 2024.

I think it is time Mr Howard was put out to pasture.

I’m not as black and white as some here. Statins generally appear to provide good benefits for people who have had a heart attack.

Yes, when you dig into the data, the ONLY group that appeared to benefit at all (and minimally at that) were people who had already had an MI. Even then, the effect is likely more due to the anti-inflammatory effect, NOT the cholesterol lowering effect.

GPs though seems to prescribe statins solely on the basis of cholesterol levels.

Yep, as I noted earlier, they are trained to do this (by the pharma dominated medical system) to get more statins prescribed, that is the goal of big pharma – statins are one of their most profitable lines.

Statin research makes so many claims of benefit, including protection from some cancers and dementia…

And yet the data shows that statins increase your risk of diabetes, sepsis, cancer and dementia … its almost like the statin research is fraudulent … no … it cant be that….

My observation is that over many seasons, they push a jarrah or blackbutt into so much stress that the bardi grubs get under the bark, then they can strip the bark for the bugs, and ringbark the tree from the top down.
White-tails, not so much. They just get wasted on huffing euc oil from the gumnuts.

True, but Hairy’s had more physical problems than I have had (so far I’ve been extremely healthy and dancing well, driving often). His DVT’s in his legs and then later a lot of leg cellulitis has left him with swollen legs and feet. We’re getting a physiotherapy program for that lymph swelling, and he never, ever, complains, but I do worry, as wives do.

We’ve always said we’ll go out together, by some stroke of luck never by volition, and I have to keep that in mind. (stroke a poor word choice there).

Crossie, I have friends in your situation and I know how hard it is, but I also know that picking up sticks and getting out and about is the answer; my friends have joined together with others in our ambit and they’re all off to Vietnam soon for a girls’ fun holiday – I’m almost envious. When my brother died, my sister-in-law wasn’t at all a coper, but she’s pulled around tremendously, joined groups, made friends, and does cruises with them.

Something going on in the Armenian Quarter.

Altogether, the Israeli relationship with Armenian interests is shameful, from non-recognition of the Armenian genocide, to arms supply for Azerbaijan’s war against Armenia, and now this where the judiciary could have stepped in to determine whether the lease was due to corruption among Armenian leadership. It’s an area where Israel has let cynical political advantages override moral imperatives.

Was watching a couple of months back, a pair of sulphur crested Cockies were deliberately sending some nesting plovers into an absolute fury. The boys in the area had already stirred the birds up enough, couple of boys had gel blasters at one stage.

Regular as clockwork, same time of day the cockies returned for about a week and taking turns with one resting in the palm trees and the other causing havoc.

Great amusement as the birds would have known what they were up to.

BRING THEM HOME, NOW

Cass – that is magnificent. Jewish peoples really do come in all shapes and sizes, which makes the malevolent insanity of anti-Semitism even more inexplicable.

There is no such thing as a “Universal Jew*“, which anti-Semites throughout the ages have invoked as a figure that panders to the inadequacies of those that have and would perpetrate pogroms.

*AKA, “Rootless Cosmopolitans”.

It’s odd not sweeping her tail off the keyboard every minute or so

Umm, never mind.

Zatara, for shame. You have obviously never enjoyed the close companionship of a loved cat. When we return from O/s, if Attapuss is being minded elsewhere, the place feels so empty. We pull out all stops to make getting him the first thing we do.

Elsie will be OK, areff, and so will you. Winston can send videos for you, they are a comfort we find when we are away. Look, we say, he seems pretty happy, and that’s his inquisitive stance, he’s clearly enjoying life. It helps.

And you’ll be away soon enough on your own adventures.

The continual posting, verbatim, of verbiage from the Armstrong crank’s blog with no attempt at commentary is a blight on the reputation of this blog.

Either add a blog link and nail your colours to the mast or farc this rubbish off.

I knew it (the NT News):

Single, straight women living in inner-city areas may struggle with dating, with Darwin the only capital city in Australia where men outnumber women.

Darwin was the only capital city which reported a high ratio of men to women, with 105.8 males per 100 females.

The author of this piece, which includes ‘dating tips’ from ‘experts’, is a Jessica Wang.

Lizzie, I have in fact been co-habitant with a cat or two.

We have reached terms. I fill the bowl with fresh water and tasty food, provide scratching posts with little fish on long springs, and they leave me the hell alone while I’m reading or working.

On the other hand, I find non cats “sweeping their tail off my keyboard” a completely different distraction.

Good documentary on the Mount Erebus/Air New Zealand disaster – 257 people lost their lives, because the Chief Navigational Officer of Air New Zealand hit the wrong key on his keyboard. The judge of the High Court of New Zealand, who conducted the Royal Commission, and said several unkind things about Air New Zealand, copped a lot of flak from one “Piggy” Muldoon…
