Rabz’ Radio Show – New Year’s Eve 2023

Cats, this post is about songs released in 2023. Seemingly not an auspicious year, but there were some diamonds in the dirt.

So wonderful to hear Everything but the Girl again, over two decades having elapsed since we last heard from them.

Having said that, I’ve looked through various websites’ “Best songs of 2023” and the reality is somewhat more dire.

However, feel free to check out Olivia Rodrigo’s “Get him back”, Soo Joo and Hudson Mohawke’s “Running Water” and Mandy, Indiania’s “Pinking Shears”.

With some honourable mentions for the Rolling Stones, Kylie and Lana del Ray.

Here’s my two favourites for the year:

Confidence man:

Despite the travails of life – which includes the good, bad and the uglee, I hope you all have a Happy and Prosperous New Year, Cats. Goodness knows, we need one.

Not up to their best, but not bad. From their album “Memento Mori”.

Depeche Mode – Wagging Tongue (2023)

Put this one up on an earlier Radio Show, since it is from this year it’s worthy.
Also it’s Tull, which makes it worthy whatever.

Jethro Tull – Wolf Unchained (2023)

Serious flute…I’ve worn out my copy of Thick As A Brick.

Peter Gabriel also came out with a fine bunch of songs this year after a couple decades of doing other things.

This is really crimping my style, I have not bought a single piece of music produced this year. Rabz, you could have made it easier by extending it to the past decade.

I might have to look through my country music list, I might have bought something from that genre this year.

Here is a song by Alana Springsteen, I don’t think she is related to Bruce.

Thanks Crossie
Your 2 links – no pretentious, instrumentation, no machines, lyrics which do not need to be decoded for what they mean.
Raw talent and people. Have not deformed themselves.
Thanks for the link to Jethro Bruuuuu
What did you think of the Weekend Oz top 52.
Surprised by some of the choices from 52 to 89 – esp goats head soup by the stones.

Anyone read the article in the Weekend Oz about faultless albums.
Food for thought.
Revolver for me.
I had never heard of a lot of the recent stuff.
First sude of Born to Run is the best of all time IMHO.
