If Dutton can tap into the inner city seats, he’s home.

BB, I think the opposite. The key for Dutton will be to ignore the Teal/Filth inner-city seats and concentrate on the outer suburbs, which are bearing the brunt of Labor’s inflation crisis, which was caused predominantly by excess government spending on unicorns like trying to change the weather.

Howard’s tradies — most of them traditional Labor voters — are crying out for a new political leader now that the trade union government has abandoned them.

Well I just got my haircut. Such trauma cries out for a drink or three.

The trauma is not the haircut itself, but to see, after the spiders and cobwebs and bits of bark have been combed out, and then further see the much reduced mass snipped down even further, is very dispiriting.

So spirits were the order of the day – Aberlour in this instance.

So last week I went to a quack’s (1st trip to any doc since Cancer finished 2014) cos my enlarged prostate prob (15 years) started playing up a bit .. Anywayz he sent me for blood tests and an ultrasound …… Goes back today for results and he runz thru a list of odds & sods which, basically, come back .. no probs ….
“Fine” sez I, .. exasperated .. “but I didn’t come in for any of those things I came in about the “waterworx”..
“Oh!”, he sez, “I’ll send you to a specialist for that” ….. DuuuuuuH!
“Whilst your waiting for that appointment take these tablets to help” …….
prints prescription and off I toddle to the chemist .. “$157” sez chemist .. leaving me spluttering & gasping, “Ya gotta be kidding I’m an OAP” (excellent self restraint shown by not adding any expletives .. LOL!)
“No, he’s given you a non PBS script so go back and ask for the PBS approved alternative, there is one” …..
SO back to quack’s and another , bloody, appointment for later this arvo to get the script changed …….
NO wonder I avoid quackticians .. FFS!
The only good thing to come out of it all is having had Cancer you alwayz think the worst with non standard health issues and think, “Damn it’s back” .. but no in this case everything else AOK ……!

I have finally seen Jerry Nadler, that Democrat with pants up to his armpits, describe how the illegals are necessary to pick farm produce. There is so much that is wrong there. First, what happened to the famous American automation?

Second, why aren’t citizen farm pickers paid a decent amount for their work? Oh that’s right, then the corporates would not be able to make as much money to give to their members of congress. Funny how cheap labour means richer politicians.

Third, by importing all the illegals and giving them benefits that citizens and their children are not eligible for means that even if fruit and vegetables are cheaper the tax burden is bigger. Ultimately the lowly working class are paying for the elites to do as they please and preen their wokeness.

The same is happening here with the astronomical legal immigration, the citizen working class can groan under mortgage interest rates and increased cost of living as long as Labor can import their future voters.

Who is going to be the leader of a serf uprising of our time?

STIRLING: When magical thinking meets a polar vortex cold, hard reality follows

…wind farms in Alberta quietly all went to sleep as temperatures hit minus 30C the night before. Why? Because in extremely cold weather, infrastructure like wind turbines with exposed blades and internal mechanics way up high face the risk of embrittlement and… shattering. Even though there was some wind, the risk was too great to continue operations, meaning that almost all of Alberta 4481 MW of wind power became useless. About that same time, the sun went down. Meaning that all of Alberta’s 1650 MW of solar power vanished for the night.

Minus 30C, little or no power, and the woke don’t believe in cutting down trees for firewood gaia forbid.

I can see them wading through the snow drifts, frozen, and knocking on their non-woke neighbor’s doors like the ant and the grasshopper parable.

The Democrats who insist on hiking up the minimal wage are also doing all they can to encourage illegal immigration – people who work outside the wage structures.

Democrats are happy to incentivise the breaking of law because they have determined they can get a cut.

And the businesses that employ illegal immigrants? It is the only way to keep their businesses going. Especially in the classic Democrat economy.

Kirsch’s ‘schtick’ was to be so good at analysing numerical trends in economic data that he could spot anomalies and trends early, and parlay that into billions of dollars in profit in the financial world.

You are confusing Kirsch’s day job as a software entrepreneur with his personal interests. Bill Gates is a smart man and a successful software entrepreneur too; but you probably wouldn’t take his advice on Covid vaccination.

I’m a casual observer, but the statistical ‘methodology’ run out on Kirsch’s sub stack is objectively terrible. And the fact that he presumably understands the flaws and misrepresentations prompts me to describe it as ‘schtick’ – because he’s apparently taking the piss.

Lord’s Prayer could be dumped from Victorian parliament
AAP

Pressure is mounting on the Victorian government to scrap a hundred-year-old tradition to better reflect modern community values.

Each sitting day in Victoria’s parliament is opened with the Lord’s Prayer which has been the case for 106 years.

The prayer is followed by a Welcome to Country.

Premier Jacinta Allan hinted the prayer’s days were numbered, saying there has been cross-party discussions on the issue.

“It’s important that as a parliament we reflect the community that we represent,” she told reporters on Monday.

I struggle with that. Automation is used a lot, and is used extensively as much as possible, in field transport & infield conveyers, etc.
However with some crops, the picking can only be done by hand.

Where automation is not possible, higher wages does not drive automation in those hand-picked crops, it closes them down & moves the growing to low wage countries.

Research on automation, & on breeding to fit automation, is proceeding flat out, fuelled in part by the unreliability & volatility of a field workforce.

No, that wasn’t the point, this was the point: The United States has approximately 3500 Tomahawk missiles on hand – so few that at-sea reloading capability is pointless because in the event of war the USN will actually run out of missiles before it runs out of launchers.

War doesn’t begin overnight. It take months of preparation. Russia’s assault on Ukraine is an example of that. It is impossible to hide those preparations. A US destroyer can carry up to 90 missiles. The carriers carry hundreds of air to ground weapons. There is a program for transport aircraft to deliver pallet loads of missiles. Then there are B-52s, B1Bs, with enormous ordinance capacity and effectively global reach.

3500 Tomahawk missiles is the tip of the spear. Taking into account all their air to ground capability by the time the ships need to rearm the opposition will be searching through ruins for spare parts.

Let’s start with the overarching claim that drove all this, that the US can’t reload the Tomahawks from its shooters without them leaving the Red Sea. Djibouti is an allied port and airfield on the Red Sea. You can spit and hit it from where the allied ships are operating.

So reloading is not an issue.

Further, the USN has plenty of cruise missiles both in stock and under production. Enough so that they are allowing production to be diverted for sales to their allies.

What a cunning plan.
.1 Select people uniquely unqualified for a task.
.2 Encourage them to do tasks they are clearly not able to fulfill to adequate standards.
.3 Stand back and watch them fail and kill their customers.
.4 Apologise after multiple disasters, but fight all the way to hide the problem.

Why do the airplane industries hate their customers and the intellectually impaired public so much?

Sky News after dark’s weekday regulars all return to work tonight after 4-6 weeks off for the holidays, leaving just the Outsiders crew to sidle back into the office next Sunday morning.

The major change is that Sharri Markson has swapped shifts with Chris Kenny, who returns to his old 5pm hour. I suspect Markson, who was frequently absent last year, has requested the change to better fit in with the needs of her newborn son (who she’s training to be a vegetarian – FMD).

After his disastrous spruiking for the Voice, which crashed his ratings, it will be fascinating to see if Kenny can hold Markson’s 2023 ratings at 5pm, which often saw her No.4 behind Paul Murray (9pm), Peta Credlin (6pm) and Blot (7pm).

Re effectiveness of the allied strikes on the Houthis.

The allied strikes against the Houthis happened on the 11th, it’s now the 15th and there are no reports that they have fired any more missiles or launched any drones.

While nobody but the Houthis and their Iranian masters know the exact extent of the damage and of their remaining resources, it would appear that the strikes and the interdiction of any munition resupply from Iran have had significant effect on their ability to terrorize shipping.

Killing insurgents doesnt reduce their numbers, it multiplies them.

Killing the insurgents’ weapon systems and preventing their resupply is the point.

Arguably more important is the lesson that while poking the sleeping bear to show your bravery might be fun, at some point the bear will awaken, at which point he can and will do significant damage to you and yours – you don’t want to be the one who wakes him from his slumber! And the more often and harder you poke him, the more likely he is to wake up and the more likely he is to be angry about it.

Lord’s Prayer could be dumped from Victorian parliament
AAP

Pressure is mounting on the Victorian government to scrap a hundred-year-old tradition to better reflect modern community values.
Pressure.. applied by whom? The Work Experience staffing their ABC over their eight week summer break?
Each sitting day in Victoria’s parliament is opened with the Lord’s Prayer which has been the case for 106 years.
Goodo. It’s a “count your blessings” reminder as well as a pledge of allegiance to the ethics which the whole circus is actually built upon.
The prayer is followed by a Welcome to Country.
Since when? Seriously, you dated the Lord’s Prayer to 1918AD, can we have a bit of journalism please?
Premier Jacinta Allan hinted the prayer’s days were numbered, saying there has been cross-party discussions on the issue.
Ah, so that’s where the pressure is coming from. The Fifth Column.
“It’s important that as a parliament we reflect the community that we represent,” she told reporters on Monday.
Sure, love. Just own the idea eh? You want a First Nationses legacy, just own it and go for it, it’s so much more manly than the girly-girly discussing reflecting consulting tea party.

It should have been obvious that the onslaught of homogenous Welomes To Countryses has been co-ordinated, compulsory, and designed to replace Christianity. And give the laptop class a permanently open ethics loophole, too. Soon every backflip, broken promise and unforeshadowed international treaty imposed upon us- not just the breaking of ground, but the hiring of staff, the purchase of goods and the movement of money- will be fobbed off by genuflections to Elders Past, Present And Future, Now and Forever, Amen.

Calli, I doubt if she has seen it. She seems to me to be such a self-possessed entity that she would refuse to be confronted with a reality that may challenge her SO perfectly formed world view. She is a “piece of work”. But she is far from stupid – & that is what makes her a dangerous politician to be given her ministerial role.

I am hoping that the Israeli officials who are charged with dealing with her give her “the business”. They are very good at it. Elon Musk initially doubted the depth of the horror of 7 October. But he left Israel “very shaken” according to the Israelis who took him to the stricken kibbutzim.

But, again, the point of the post was US Navy’s lack of capacity to load VLS at sea. Once they’ve fired their clip they’re out of action until the get back to port and have reloaded.

I wonder if the problem is more a case of ‘won’t’ rather than ‘can’t’?
Perhaps the risk of losing a missile at sea precludes the practice, but in wartime service, the risk is worth it?
If so, the USN has a bit more capacity than thought, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this habit extended a lot further than just missile reloading.

What I find particularly galling is that almost all the professional feminists have nannies to look after their children. They see nothing wrong with paying a pittance to other women for work they despise. With them it’s feminism for me but not for thee.

I’m not so sure about that, Crossie. Cleaners in NYC are asking for 35 bucks cash on the knocker.. Nannies wouldn’t be that much different as they usually were on par from what I recall.

Building trades were once relatively inexpensive as you had a lot of Irish and Polish dudes drifting in during the summer months and then take off. These days they don’t appear to speak a word of English, Asian, and the labour cost is much higher than here. We did a reno and the only Native American who was English speaking was the site foreman. I was pretty surprised when the quote came in as I was halfway expecting the cost to be about the same here in terms of dollar for dollar, and ignoring the exchange rate. It came in around 40% above my expectation . That was 2019, and it’s got much tighter since.

A few months ago we were there and there were for- hire signs plastered on a lot of store fronts.

Husband went into the city today to try to solve two problems:

* Optus is apparently upgrading mobile network to 4G in our rural area & for some weeks we only have occasional mobile sevice. What thah? Just needed to know the schedule & what to expect. So, stupidly, thought someone in HO might be able to assist, since all their operators on phone & internet had not.

Result? No one could help. Suggested he contact Optus on internet.

* While at Optus enquired about new phone, as he had dropped existing one with screen damage. No one really interested. Went to Apple outlet – Asian employee very difficult to understand. Went home without phone.

Fortunately, we have a small local business that deals with digital problems. He is repairing the phone for a fraction of the price Apple & Optus quoted.

The point of the experience? It is very very difficult, it seems, to get reasonable service from big companies – that is, if their employees have even a good command of the language.

Wong’s decision ‘petulant and childish’, says Sharma
Jess Malcolm
Jess Malcolm

Liberal Senator Dave Sharma has attacked Foreign Minister Penny Wong’s decision not to visit the southern Israeli towns where the October 7 massacres occurred as “deeply insulting” and “petulant and childish”.

Senator Sharma, who previously served as Australia’s ambassador to Israel, told The Australian that Senator Wong must seek out first hand experience of the trauma experienced by the Jewish homeland.

“Penny Wong’s decision to refuse to visit the site of Hamas massacres is deeply insulting and insensitive. But it’s also profoundly mistaken. If Wong wants to help support efforts towards peace, as she claims, then she needs to have some first-hand appreciation of the trauma Israel has experienced, and which continues to inform its military strategy,” Senator Sharma told The Australian.

“Instead of visiting these sites, Wong will instead meet with ‘victims of Israeli settler violence’. It seems that Penny Wong, who was reluctantly forced into this trip, now seems to be finding as many ways as possible to insult Israel in the process. It’s petulant and childish.”

LOL. Is there anything in the US they don’t make complicated?

In this particular case I can say without hesitation… blame the Democrats. They will do anything to buy a vote with taxpayer money and as Reagan said:

“No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth!”

So they just stack up and get more and more labyrinthine.

“Instead of visiting these sites, Wong will instead meet with ‘victims of Israeli settler violence’. It seems that Penny Wong, who was reluctantly forced into this trip, now seems to be finding as many ways as possible to insult Israel in the process. It’s petulant and childish.”

OMG. I would never expect to ever be forced to say I was ashamed to be an Australian. With this thing as our ‘alleged’ Foreign Minister, I am dumbfounded. What this says is that Australia is f/ked good and proper. I cannot believe how far this country has fallen so bloody quickly.

The BOM is a fuking disgrace:

Why it is so rainy on Australia’s east coast even though the country is in ‘El Nino’ – and how everything we thought we knew about the weather system is wrong

Dr King and his colleague Dr Andrew Dowdy wrote on a University of Melbourne publication that despite all the recent rain, Australia is still in an El Nino event.

The SOI is in neutral territory which means there is no El Nino event.

The academics said an El Nino weather pattern means there is an increased chance of dry conditions, rather than a guarantee of that happening in all cases.

‘The relationship between La Nina and Australian rainfall is considerably stronger than the effect of El Nino on rainfall,’ they said.

‘While La Nina events are pretty reliably wet, El Nino events can often be wet or dry.’

How mealy mouthed is that? El Nino defined on the BOM website:

El Niño typically means:

Reduced rainfall
Warmer temperatures

We used head out for drinks in Sydney, especially Friday evenings at one of the bars, near the Rocks, which I think is the Four Seasons now. Dr. John would often be there with some of the Macquarie traders. He always put up his hand for a drink, but no one recalls he ever shouted one.

So, this government, this sleaze of a PM, this slag of a foreign minister, equates the massacres, rapes and kidnappings on 7 October 2023 with “settler violence”.

I am speechless.

Actually, I’m not. I’d like to see this putrid fetid disgrace of a foreign minister be dropped in the middle of Gaza, and to experience exactly what Shani Louk, Naama Levy and the other young Israeli women experienced on that awful day and since. I’d like to see her pants stained with blood, after being raped vaginally and anally.

Meanwhile, the Jew hatred in the West festers, foments and grows, rapidly. The best analogy I can think of is the alien from the films, Alien. Once Jew hatred is awoken from its nap, once Jew hatred is succoured, once Jew hatred is officially or unofficially licensed, it becomes empowered and the violence that ensues, either with words or actions, knows no bounds.

Let’s see what Trump can do at least with one bureau, the FBI. I expect him to sack everybody if congress won’t defund it. The other option is a war of attrition, 20% cut in staffing per year until it dwindles into insignificance.

Premier Jacinta Allan hinted the prayer’s days were numbered

She’s not doing well lately

‘For many it’s a day of division’: Allan responds to questions on Australia Day stance (Sky mainpage headline, 15 Jan)

Jacinta Allan has said “for many people” January 26 is “a day of division” amid questions on her stance on the national public holiday, while the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria has given a four word response to Woolworths’ Australia Day merchandise decision.

No Ms Allan, Australia Day is not a day of division, since anyone who celebrates it is an Aussie and anyone who doesn’t isn’t.

If you don’t like Australia Day go live someplace else.

Just got off a call with my work colleague out of Germany. Our market is missing a person to oversee a number of projects. Now that my kids have grown up I put my hand up for the role last year. Quite a bit of I/N travel involved but could do the role with no problems.

My colleague told me (on the quiet) he was instructed to put a female into the role. No choice in matter. The young woman they wish to use is 2-3 years away from being experienced enough for role.
…and so the role goes unfilled for a while yet.

Hopefully I will have moved on by then.

Unreal.

The Federal Aviation Administration is actively recruiting workers who suffer “severe intellectual” disabilities, psychiatric problems and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency’s website.

“Targeted disabilities are those disabilities that the Federal government, as a matter of policy, has identified for special emphasis in recruitment and hiring,” the FAA’s website states. “They include hearing, vision, missing extremities, partial paralysis, complete paralysis, epilepsy, severe intellectual disability, psychiatric disability and dwarfism.”

Stocks for private jet manufactures are going to fly off the shelf over the medium term if this keeps going. Anyone worth over a US$50 million is going to buy a partial lease.
