Interesting thing about Iowa – the county “Johnson” the only county Trump didn’t win, was won by Haley.
By 1 vote.

Trump/Vivek. De Santis and Haley are RINO’s and will stab Trump like Pence did.

The Dems deserve Trump, but Trump can’t get enough people on his team who can actually work with the deep state bureaucrats, and survive a term.

Thanks for the recommendation for North and South, Salvatore – will give it a go.

Just finished series 2 of Julia, which is about the life of Julia Child, the famous American cook who wrote the cookbook The French Chef. Interesting personality who originally worked for the OSS in WWII. A bit of a chick-flick but applauded by Mrs TE, who is a retired chef.

Started in The Last Post, about the British in Aden in the 1960s. Looks a bit too clean for purpose but will persevere.

Good friend of ours in the village is a pureblood and developed Bells Palsy when travelling overseas 2 weeks ago. Hubby, also a pureblood, had a cold, which he still has the lingering after effects, she showed no symptoms but must of caught his virus

I suspect that the spike pathogen which is thought to be the culprit which may cause Bells Palsy in vaccines, may also cause Bells Palsy in the unvaccinated who catch Covid 19. This is may be rare in the unvaccinated, who seem to have less severe effects from spike, may it may nonetheless occur.

Having contracted the more recent strain (probably BN1) 3 months ago, I have considerable respect for this latest manifestation of the virus. The body definitively does not like it. I appear to have a mild residual inflammatory condition in my right ear.

“Trump running at 55% and increasing.

He gave a calm and measured speech (Trump style) in claiming Iowa.
He’ll work on fixing it all. Local, and foreign. Including Ukraine and Israel.
He’ll work it through negotiation Russia and defunding Iran.
Xi pull your head in. In the US he’ll close the borders and open the oil spigots.”

Also:
reduce spending, reduce taxes, reduce regulation.
By 2027, the US will look like it did in 2019 – “best year evah!” for many small businesses in the US was 2019.

But we are ahead of ourselves – this is the primaries, be they caucuses or primary elections. He needs to win those, and the SCOTUS cases so he can run, and then the actual election. And he needs to get good support for R’s in the house and senate for a majority in both to have a chance to do what he wants to do.
Seems possible, even likely as things stand – just take a look at black Chicagoans backing Trump! – but it’s still over 10 months before the actual election, an eternity squared in politics. Getting house and senate RINO’s primaried out seems at least as important at this point, they could block him on plenty of stuff like they did last time.

Funny that, after criticism for using AI to source information, someone may actually be using it to improve language skills.

North & South has a very engaging & well flowing plot. It’s one of the few “can’t turn it off” shows ever made.

(the TV of Herman Wouk’s Winds of War and War & Remembrance is another in the same “can’t stop watching” class)

3rd series of North & South (never shown in Australia) let itself down via the non-appearance of the keypane character (Patrick Swayze as “Orry”) and also some continuity issues via unfortunate choices of actors to replace stars who didn’t sign up for the 3rd series.

The books by John Jakes were far better in their continuity of readability, as the story is a fair dinkum epic.

If I had to choose the most watchable TV miniseries ever made: North & South.

What does Bard say if it was AI generated.

However, there are also some aspects that could be seen as suggestive of AI generation:

Structured format: The post starts with a strong statement about the show’s plot, followed by comparisons and then personal opinions. This structure could be consistent with how some AI models generate text by piecing together different elements.

Top Ender: The Last Post gets better as it progresses through the episodes. It is a garrison soap opera combined with a macho military story. It had to be made with non-cooperation from the Army & the Military Police. Right down to cap badges & so on having to be totally different to the real ones (under threat of lawsuit).

Show is made in South Africa, at some disused beach resort, IIRC.

Quite a solid, dependable show. I thoroughly recommend it.

Salvo,
I know I shouldn’t be, but I am still surprised when production companies shoot themselves in the foot when they destroy their own legacies for the almighty dollar.
I have the complete set of Lonesome Dove mini series. Whilst the others weren’t as awesome as the first, at least they followed the story and kept the series quite workmanlike. Still enjoyable to watch.

I read Larry McMurtry’s “Anything for Billy”, many years ago and remember thinking at the time that it would have made a good mini-series. There was also an excellent book he wrote about a reporter whose curiosity definitely got the better of him. I vaguely remember the ending gave me chills. I assume McMurtry’s writing style is not de rigeur these days. Too masculine. 😀

From The Oz…

Antoinette Lattouf slams ABC bosses Ita Buttrose and David Anderson in a now-deleted social media post

Sacked ABC radio presenter Antoinette Lattouf has doubled down on her criticism of the ABC, sharing a now-deleted social media post which declared that the broadcaster’s chair Ita Buttrose and managing director David Anderson will be forced to resign over her job termination.

Her latest public attack on the ABC comes just days after she expanded her Fair Work Commission complaint against the taxpayer-funded broadcaster, claiming she was sacked because of her ethnicity and accusing the ABC of discriminating against people of colour.

On Tuesday morning Lattouf, a profilic user of social media, shared on her Instagram account a post by comedian Dan Ilic who wrote: “Let’s remember … Whilst employed by the ABC @antoinette — lattouf merely posted a @humanrightswatch video on her Instagram stories.

“This saga will end up with Ita (Buttrose) and David Anderson resigning because they forgot what their job was.”

The post was deleted a short time later without any explanation from Lattouf but remains on Ilic’s Instagram account.

Ms Buttrose finishes her five-year tenure at the ABC in March and Mr Anderson’s term was extended last year until 2028.

She was dismissed after she shared a series of inflammatory social media posts about the Israel-Gaza war.

Lattouf’s case against the ABC will be heard at the FWC on Thursday before deputy president Gerard Boyce.

It is unclear whether Lattouf will attend the hearing.

In Lattouf’s FWC claim she alleges she was unlawfully terminated for breaching the ABC’s social media guidelines after sharing a post by Human Rights Watch about the war that read: “The Israeli government is using starvation of civilians as a weapon of war in Gaza.”

Lattouf, a Lebanese-Australian, is being represented by Maurice Blackburn’s employment lawyer principal Josh Bornstein. The firm declined to comment on Lattouf’s deleted social media post on Tuesday.

Lattouf is publicly calling for donations via a GoFundMe page to help raise money for her legal fees. On Tuesday she posted on social media: “Lattouf v ABC. Crowd-funding for my legal fees. #NoFearNoFavour.”

She has so far received more than 680 donations worth more than $29,400.

A Maurice Blackburn spokesman said Lattouf’s “crowd-funding call was put up long before we got involved.”

Lattouf was contacted for comment but did not respond to questions.

Mr Bornstein said last week his client’s legal claim had been changed to outline further claims as to why her five-day stint as a fill-in presenter ended prematurely.

“The claim has now been amended to reflect that Antoinette Lattouf alleges that she was sacked by the ABC because she expressed a political opinion and also because of her race,” he said.

“Since October 7 and the ensuing conflict in the Middle East, it has become notorious in the media industry that Arab and Muslim journalists are being intimidated, censored and sacked. “In this case we will show that the ABC has not sacked white journalists for expressing political opinion, even where those journalists worked in news and current affairs.”

Lattouf has also repeatedly questioned the “gas the Jews” footage that went viral from Sydney’s Opera House after the Israel-Hamas war erupted last year and she said it was unverified content.

She wrote on TikTok: “A horrendously offensive video went viral. Nobody can verify it. Those who posted it won’t respond to my questions.”

By sacking Lattosh, Buttrose and Anderson were actually doing their jobs.

Can’t help but think of legendary King Canute who intentionally embarrassed his annoying sycophants by trying to command the tide to go out — while it was coming in.

I am so pleased to see someone quote the truth about this episode.

Thank you indolent and Winston Smith — Cnut the Great is one of my favourite ancients — he was a god-fearing man and was sick of the sycophants brown-nosing him and saying how great he was that he could command the wind, the sea and the sky — Cnut wanted to show them that that was not the case — his wicker chair was taken to the edge of the sea as he ordered, he sat there commanded the incoming tide to recede and it did not he is said to have stated that only God can command the Earth and all within it — that may not be verbatim — Cnut the Great was no-one’s fool — including the wokesters of his day.

Trump would have to be the best comedian in the US at the moment.

There was a story that ran through a podcast I listened to earlier today about what he said to Hope Hicks, who was married at the time, with kids.

Hicks is quite the looker.

She was part of the group who accompanied Trump on the meet up with the Little Rocket man during his presidency. Supposedly, it was a border meeting that partitions the two Koreas.

Kim Jong Un gave Hope a wink and a smile and Trump saw it.

Apparently, Trump said to her, that she should take one for the team, after which she would be considered a real hero back home.

Top Ender, I’ll recommend again The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem. Over three series a family drama unfolds, picking up on all of the themes of British Palestine/Israel in the lead up to the 1948 Partition and the Middle East in those times. An essential and very well depicted sense of what it was like to live in Jerusalem in those times. Very good too on the rise of a Jewish Terrorist movement vs the British. Your wife might like it as well, for it deals with women in circumstances of change, and there is quite a bit of cooking involved. 🙂

Was Big tooth actually sacked or did she resign? I just read this missive in the Oz and it reckons she resigned.

Only days ago two young female reporters, Antoinette Lattouf and Nour Haydar, abruptly quit the organisation citing grievances over the treatment of culturally diverse staff and the coverage of the Israel-Hamas war. It is certain both Lattouf and Haydar will be active on social media accounts now they have departed, further disenfranchising young people from the ABC.

There’s this as well, which I couldn’t reference to see what is meant by scaling back airtime to Q&A. What does the author mean by scaled back as I couldn’t find anything?

Reluctantly, the ABC has scrapped The Drum and scaled back airtime given to Q&A. Both are good decisions. Contemplate this: The ABC’s definition of good current affairs television included hours given over to carefully selected panel members discussing subjects on which they had little or no knowledge.

It’s a piece written by “John Simpson (is deputy chancellor of Monash University)” so it may not be accurate.

I think from having a squiz around that North and South came out in two versions – one in the 1980s that ran for three series, and a four episode version in 2006.

Forgot to say the superb Sarah Lancashire is the lead in Julia, looking very buxom and 6’2″ like the original Julia Child, despite apparently not being so in real life. Vivek has to prosition himself as VP rather than a Cabinet Sec role if he intends to run in 2028 as whoever has the spot in 2024 would be the front runner. Easier to be seen as the heir.

Gerrymandering – Are All Elections Fraudulent?

COMMENT:

Marty,

Just like leading the country in election cheating (this isn’t a great site to reference, but it does list some of the “irregularities”
https://www.factcheck.org/2009/01/mining-the-minnesota-recount/).

It appears Minnesota was also ahead of the con game with the results of the last census where Minnesota kept all its congressional seats even though it should have lost one (ironically to NY) (https://www.twincities.com/2022/05/19/census-overcount-mn-undercount-congressional-seat-federal-funding/). I’d guess the next census will show states like MN & NY will have upwards of ’81 million’ residents and then like the GDP & every other govt number it will be revised down afterwards after having its intended effect.

Keep up the good work.

-JJ
REPLY: “Those who vote decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything,” has often been attributed to Stalin but there is no definite source. Your example highlights how losing political parties will use every dirty trick in the book to sway the results in their favor.

Elections have been rigged for centuries. Pericles was attacked and banished amid the first democracy. During the Senate elections in Rome of 53 BC, only the elite voted. Interest rates DOUBLED because people were borrowing so much to fund bribes to rig the election.

The 2008 US Senate recount in Minnesota that you mentioned was another slap in the face to democracy. Republican incumbent Norm Coleman initially led Democratic challenger Al Franken by more than 200 votes. However, the state Canvassing Board’s certified recount results showed that Franken received 225 more votes than Coleman out of nearly 2.9 million votes.

This incident highlights some of the common tactics such as duplicate ballots, missing ballots, and rejected absentee ballots. The documentary “2000 Mules” explained in-depth how they managed to swing the 2020 US Presidential Election in Biden’s favor through ballot harvesting.

Now this happened before mail-in ballots made rigging an election so easy that even a child could do it. You no longer need to prove who you are to vote, nor do you need to prove you are from this country. In fact, you do not need even to exist.

Biden secured the dead vote during the last election, as thousands of deceased Americans rose from the dead to cast their vote. Mail-in ballots were sent to dead people, stolen by bad actors, and counted as fraudulent votes.

There are videos of election officials blatantly changing the ballots they receive to favor their candidate of choice. There are videos of mail carriers and others discarding mail-in ballots. Hundreds of pounds, not ballots, were found discarded in a junkyard in New Jersey after the last presidential election.

There were instances where people received absentee ballots on behalf of others. In New York, over 100,000 voters received ballots with the wrong names printed on them, and there was no way to track if someone was voting on behalf of someone else. Where did this occur? In Brooklyn, where Democratic Rep. Yvette Clarke is positioned and ADMITTED that their plan has been to pack the district with migrants for “redistricting purposes.”

We have all heard of redrawing voting lines to rig elections. DeSantis did this in Florida as well in recent years, and I am not pointing at simply one side. Gerrymandering is a practice intended to establish an unfair political advantage for a particular party by manipulating the boundaries of electoral districts. This corruption was named after Elbridge Gerry, who had engaged in this corruption from the very start of the United States election process. As they say, where there is a WILL, there is also a WAY to make it happen.

There are corrupt antics in EVERY election, but now the tactics are blatant. This does not mean one should refrain from voting because these politicians deserve to know that their constituents never wanted them in power in the first place.”

The Real Horror of Labor Statistics

“Let me explain about labor statistics. Back in the ’90s, one staff member was in charge of verifying all government statistics worldwide. That project produced some really eye-opening facts. We discovered that in GDP, the government counts total government spending and total personal income (private & public). We could not find where they were backing out of the government payroll. I called the head of the BLS and said that this mistake was so egregious that they had to be backing it out somewhere. I was told they would get back to me. After some time passed, I called and said, hey, I don’t remember you getting back to me. The response was – NO COMMENT.

This means when Biden hires 87,000 IRS agents to harass small businesses, from a statistical basis, it is the economic function in GDP or creating 174,000 jobs. Every small business must now reveal who is the beneficial owner and they must report to the government where they live and if they dare to change residence. Failure to do so is prison time. This is why the Founding Fathers outlawed any direct taxation. They knew people would then be accountable to the government for absolutely everything they do. If you own a small business, it reminds me of what I saw behind the Berlin Wall. You were not allowed to move without the permission of the government. Oh, how power always consumes everything.

In high school, I had to read George Orwell’s 1984. That would probably be on the disinformation list along with Atlas Shrugged today and banned in most schools. Nevertheless, the one line that stuck with me was none other than:

“Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.”

US Tesla charging stations have essentially turned into car graveyards in recent days, as negative double-digit temperatures highlight how frigid temperatures can affect battery life.

Amusing tale of woe. Yes, corporal Ben Roberts-Smith was attacked, vilified and almost crucified by the media, senior officers, some of his buddies

I thought it was accepted, especially after Oct 7, that killing of non combatants was not on.

The issue is un-uniformed combatants. Are you equating teenagers attending a music festival with the type of un-uniformed insurgent encountered on SAS missions?

Those murdered on 7 October were non combatants. They are protected by the Geneva Accords. Un-uniformed combatants like those encountered by the SAS and on the battlefield have no protection and under the Geneva Accords can be summarily executed.

The Australian SAS soldiers are constrained by rules of engagement which are far more restrictive than the Geneva Accords and these RoEs are putting the lives of Australian servicemen at risk.

Equating these scum with the innocents murdered on 7 October does you no credit and just starkly exposes your ignorance.

Rightio. And if old mate sprayed ‘From The River To The Sea’? Courier Mail:

An Ormiston man, charged with wilful damage at an inner-city Brisbane Woolworths store on Monday, has been charged with two more counts of wilful damage after a police investigation on Brisbane’s bayside.

The man, 40, was charged with wilful damage in relation to incidents at Victoria Point and Cleveland, both believed to have occurred on Saturday, January 13.

Police started investigating the possible links between pro-Australia Day graffiti outside the Woolworths stores on Brisbane’s bayside following an alleged vandalism and a flare being detonated inside an inner-city Brisbane store early Monday.

Workmen at a construction site behind a 7-Eleven service station at Victoria Point notified police early on Monday of the graffiti in red spray-paint covering the fence.

Now I don’t like graffiti at all. It is wilful damage, but what was so offensive about what was daubed?

“Boycott Woolies. Now or Never. Boycott Woolworths. Boycott Aldi. Aussie Aussie”, was sprayed across the fence opposite the Victoria Point Shopping Centre, which is anchored by Woolworths but also includes Coles.

It was the second incident of anti-Woolworths graffiti in Redland since police were called to a Woolworths store in Cleveland where reports of similar graffiti spray-painting were made.

Woolworths said it was also investigating the latest vandalism incidents at both Victoria Point and Cleveland but was unable to comment further and was unsure of the exact time frames of the crimes at the Redland sites.

Gasp! What a fiend!

Iran clarifies its position:

When questioned about possessing nuclear weapons for power balance, [Head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Agency] Eslami clarified, “It is not an inability; rather, it is a lack of desire. Our system’s will is not inclined towards such a thing. The national security strategy is to move forward in this direction. We have reached a point where there is deterrence without violating any laws,” though the international nuclear regulator has repeatedly voiced concerns about Iran exceeding levels of enrichment allowed under international law.

So, just sayin’, then.

The deterrence that comes from having a stockpile of 60%+ U235 that can be upgraded within weeks to several crude bombs worth. And two UN Security Council buddies keen to see the US humiliated on the international stage. Again.

ABC journalists in the broadcaster’s Sydney offices have threatened a walkout unless management addresses concerns over the handling of the termination of radio host Antoinette Lattouf.

On Tuesday morning, the Sydney Morning Herald reported it had seen a chain of leaked WhatsApp messages showing a letter-writing campaign from pro-Israel lobbyists targeting the ABC managing director, David Anderson, and the chair, Ita Buttrose, in the week starting 18 December over Lattouf’s December fill-in job on ABC radio in Sydney.

On Tuesday afternoon, about 80 staff members demanded a meeting with Anderson, who is currently on leave. They threatened to stage a walkout if their concerns over the situation were not met, the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance confirmed.

It comes as the ABC filed its defence with the Fair Work Commission in response to Lattouf bringing a wrongful termination claim against the broadcaster in December after her final two shifts filling in on mornings on ABC radio Sydney were cancelled by the broadcaster over an Instagram post on 19 December.

The ABC claims Lattouf was warned against social media posting on controversial topics before she was dismissed from the casual radio role.

African gangs formed in Melbourne now in Alice Springs?

Koang Wuordol appears before Alice Springs court over Yiel ‘Yoal’ Deng Gatluak’s alleged murder

Melbourne gangs, stolen shoes and a New Year’s casino rendezvous: Read the allegations at the centre of Yiel Gatluak’s homicide investigation

A boy has been accused of “extreme callousness” and “disregard” after allegedly stealing the shoes off an Alice Springs teenager who was beaten to death on the side of a dirt road.

Police have alleged the blood stained mementos were discovered in the 17-year-old’s bedroom a week after Yiel ‘Yoal’ Deng Gatluak’s death.

The 19-year-old Alice Springs teenager’s body was found on Undoolya Road, 10km east of Alice Springs on New Year’s Day.

Koang Wuordol appeared in the Alice Springs Local Court on Tuesday charged with murder, while another 22-year-old Guandong Lual Gatl Guandong faced court on Monday charged with aiding and abetting.

A court has heard allegations that Wuordol was a member of Melbourne’s Setta Gang and was known to Victorian Police intelligence.

Their 17-year-old co-accused, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Judge David Bamber on Monday charged with being an accessory to murder.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Phillip Emmett told the court that on the day of Mr Gatluak’s death police picked up the 17-year-old at a Braitling home at 1.30am.

Sergeant Emmett said the 17-year-old, Wuordol and Guandong were captured arriving at the Alice Springs casino at 2.25am, and despite it being a licenced premises the teenager was allowed in.

He said it was there the trio bumped into Mr Gatluak.

Sergeant Emmett said due to the “close knit” nature of the Alice Springs African community they all knew each other, and by 3.52am the four young men left the venue.

He alleged Guandong was the driver of a 2017 black Ford Ranger Wildtrak, when they started driving around when “a physical altercation takes place between two of the parties”.

Sergeant Emmett alleged an autopsy report concluded the 19-year-old’s cause of death was from blunt force trauma to the head, with bruising to his internal abdomen “consistent with blows of strikes with extreme force”.

“This man was beaten to death on the roadside, ” he said.

Sergeant Emmett said police were aware of a “group” of witnesses, but no one had presented an explanation for the alleged violence.

He said 37 potential witnesses had been identified, but only 20 had been named and many provided “statements that are blank”.

Sergeant Emmett alleged for “reasons unknown” the 17-year-old allegedly took the victim’s shoes, leaving blood stains on the back of the ute.

Seven days later, police allegedly found Mr Gatluak shoes in the 17-year-old’s bedroom — with blood detected on the soles of the shoes.

But defence lawyer Cassandra Leonard said the allegation for being an accessory after the fact to murder was “not an overwhelming case”.

Ms Leonard said the 17-year-old merely being present at the alleged murder did not mean he was criminally responsible for it.

“The height of the seriousness of this case is that shoes were found at his house,” she said.

Ms Leonard said the prosecution had to prove that the “only reasonable hypothesis” was to help hide the evidence.

“(And) if he is indeed found guilty for concealing shoes, a very lengthy term of imprisonment is not certain for this young individual.”

Ms Leonard also called out the extraordinary period the teenager spent in the watch house, after being isolated, limited legal access and subjected to poor hygiene.

She said for the first five days the teenager was locked in a cell by himself, “he had one shower, he wasn’t allowed to call me for two days”.

“On the fifth day he was allowed to go call me, and requested some fresh underwear and clothes,” she said.

Ms Leonard said despite a 20-year-old man — who was also detained for six days — giving a witness statement within days of his arrest: “I have only been disclosed blank documents”.

The 17-year-old’s bail application was denied, with a preliminary examination hearing set for Thursday, February 29.

Wuordol and Guandong were also remanded in custody, to appear back in court on March 7.

Mr Wong is a slant eyed kunt.

But this is to be expected. The liars are literally in power due to muzzie votes.

It is so evident the liars hate Australia and will put our interests behind their ideologies.

“Un-uniformed combatants like those encountered by the SAS and on the battlefield have no protection and under the Geneva Accords can be summarily executed.”

That, is a ridiculous statement.

Clearly, you are another who has never been in the Defence Force and read the LOAC or any OFOF instructions.

Killed in action, is VERY different to summary execution, halfwit.

Microsoft has changed the way it stores URLs, which are now listed by their headline summary instead of the embedded HTML. That means the cartoon URLs I stored early this morning now take me on a wild goose chase that has nothing to do with the original image.

The MS nerds were bored so they went looking for something to stuff up.

Psyop forces no doubt convinced Trump that Suleimani was a “bad man” which, to them, he was.

I think the psyops aspect of his killing has more to do with the event than almost anything else. The hit was not so much about killing Suleimani for who he was or what he did but it was a message that they can precisely knock off anyone, anywhere at any time of their choosing.

The desired outcome was to have those with the capacity to undertake nefarious operations against the US and its allies should spend more time focussed on protecting themselves and watching their back than undertaking nefarious actions or traveling to other countries….
