After a brutal afternoon’s cross-examination by Mr Elliott SC, acting for Bunyons, as well as some precise skewering of her carotids by Lee, Tisha Smithie, the Ch 10 lawyer who allegedly advised Bunyons into the deep excrement pool will be immensely lucky to just retain her practicing licence.
In fact, she’ll will be lucky to avoid having to repay Ch 10’s wages for the last couple of years.
An appearance in front of the Law Society as sure as the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics.

Just been catching up on the events of the day.
I did suggest the other day that, if indeed a Ten lawyer gave an unconditional tick to Cane Toad’s speech, then this could be career truncating stuff.
A possible saving grace might have been for Tisha Smithie* to throw herself on the mercy of the court and admit she was star-struck, young and naive and very, very sorry.
Instead she went the full suicide bomber.
She tried to match wits with Justice Lee and came up short.

Not being an “at risk” industry, I’ve seen OH&S only once in my working life. They’re total wankers & it shows.

This retard turns up to the driveway & & watches the ladder to the mezzanine level where lotsa beer cartons are stored. He was offended to see the staff going up & down the ladder to bring down cartons of beer.

To solve this obvious OH&S issue, he issued a written directive that when “climbing a ladder” we must maintain a minimum of Four points of contact at all times.

It was near 15 seconds before he realised his error. However once a directive is written, they’re not really in a position to rescind it.

Nope, it is in writing, from a govt WH&S officer. He had some pretty stern words to accompany issue of the directive.
Immediately & in front of this pencil-neck, the shop manager climbed a ladder, using his chin to maintain 4 points of contact, then put a carton of beer on his shoulder & trotted back to ground level using only his feet to touch the ladder. – all as per the written directive & right in front of the pencil-neck, who was invited to state if any part of his directive had been breached.

Commander of HMAS Brisbane stood down over alleged drunken incident
Andrew Probyn
By Andrew Probyn
February 13, 2024 — 3.00pm

Listen to this article
5 min

The commander of Australia’s most lethal warship has been stood down after allegations of a drunken episode that caused the navy international embarrassment.

Commander Kingsley Scarce was relieved of his command of HMAS Brisbane in mid-September when the $3 billion guided missile destroyer was docked at Cairns.

A formal complaint had been made against Scarce from within the Australian Defence Force. The allegations were considered of such a serious nature that he was immediately stood down and replaced by an interim commanding officer.

Defence is still investigating the complaint, and while Nine News has been told a court martial is not expected if the allegations are found to be true, the matter could lead to career-ending administrative sanction.

Scarce, the son of former South Australian governor Kevin Scarce, was accused of excessive alcohol use at sea and causing embarrassment to Australia at an international event involving US counterparts.

The complaint against Scarce came after his alleged conduct came to the notice of Director General Maritime Operations Commodore Mick Harris.

Alcohol has long been restricted in the navy and last year, after the Brereton war crimes report, Defence issued a directive banning alcohol consumption on operations or exercises. Alcohol in “non-war-like operations” is restricted to two drinks, but only with approval and on national holidays.

In the lead-up to Scarce’s suspension, HMAS Brisbane had been involved in Malabar, a joint naval exercise with US, Japanese and Indian forces in August 2023.

“One good thing about exercises like Malabar is that we get to understand the people at the other end of the systems, how they think, how they talk because whilst we might speak English, we don’t necessarily speak the same kind of English,” Scarce told reporters during the exercises.

“It can be even something as simple as if I’m talking to some of my American colleagues and I say, ‘Do you want to go for a brew?’, I’m talking coffee, they’re talking beer. I’m happy with both outcomes. But it’s very important that we understand the language that you’re using and what we actually mean when we’re talking to each other.

HMAS Brisbane, under Scarce, also took part in Talisman Sabre, a multinational military exercise led by Australia and the United States involving 30,000 personnel and 13 nations.

He was commanding officer of the warship when it helped in the search-and-rescue effort after a Taipan helicopter crashed off Lindeman Island in Queensland on July 28, killing four airmen. Navy personnel involved in the operation are known to have found it traumatic.

Sources with knowledge of the matter but not free to discuss it on the record said that when the warship was at port in Cairns on September 18, its 220 crew members were ordered to “clear lower decks” to witness the arrival of interim Commander Grant Coleman who was accompanied by a one-star commodore.

Some crew members had earlier witnessed Scarce leaving the warship.

Later that day, HMAS Brisbane set sail for Darwin before a three-month tour north via Malaysia, Singapore, Japan and Guam.

HMAS Brisbane was forced to dock for repairs at Port Sembawang in Singapore when a fire broke out in the galley. It was also on the scene when HMAS Toowoomba was “pinged” by a Chinese warship on November 14 and on its return to Australia, the ship was diverted to Willis Island to rescue four Bureau of Meteorology staff as a cyclone approached.

While not naming Scarce, Defence confirmed a member had been stood down pending the outcome of an inquiry.

“There is no place for unacceptable behaviour or conduct within Defence,” a department spokeswoman said. “All allegations of unacceptable behaviour are taken very seriously and investigated thoroughly following due process.”

Defence said it could provide no further comment due to obligations under the Privacy Act.

Former independent senator and one-time submariner Rex Patrick said the ADF was unnecessarily secretive.

“Our Defence Force is extremely opaque, unnecessarily opaque,” Patrick said. “Defence needs to be open with the Australian public if they want to gain their confidence.

“It’s a really important arm of government. It receives tens of billions of dollars in public funding. We need to be confident in the manner in which defence is exercising its responsibilities and functions.”

Scarce has not publicly commented on the allegations or the alleged complaint. HMAS Brisbane returned home to Sydney on December 15 under the command of Bernard Dobson, who took over from Coleman on November 7 in Nagasaki, Japan.

Just watched Ferrari with Adam Driver in the hot seat. Great name, Adam Driver, as the main actor in a movie about racing cars.
The movie was made for American audiences as there were a lot of “feelings” being discussed between the Enzo man, the embittered wife, and the girlfriend. Enzo had a really peculiar business model. Every other carmaker was totally focused on selling cars to the public and racing a distant second, but not the Enzo man. He just made enough cars to sell in order to sustain the racing side. Racing drove the entire business.

Apart from being too American, it was actually a decent movie, as the racing and the crashes were spectacular. The thing that amazed me, though, was just how vulnerable the drivers were in those 50s and 60s cars. If the car tipped over, the driver would have invariably lost his head.

I’d give it 7 1/2 out of 10. I paid 25 bucks, but I’d recommend waiting a week or two for the piece to drop.

Sounds like wishful thinking. People have been saying the days of the mullahs are numbered ever since Khamenei took over, and that was a very long time ago. Iran in its current iteration doesn’t appear to be going anywhere. In fact, it appears to be getting stronger.

Something would seem to be amiss with the design and/or construction of the Victorian transmission towers.

Fifty years ago power transmission lines used to be designed for the worst case of temperature, shorting current, wind loading etc. Presumably they still are , but maybe not given the event.

Unless there is a one in a hundred+ year event they should not fail. It seems that more than one tower failed so the design is faulty or the construction was not to spec.

Are you seriously suggesting that some pencil-neck with an IQ <100 and a ticket book, turning up at my place & telling me "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you" may actually distract me from my core duties?

I think you should. They are a dangerous person and agent of chaos.

Not huge but a decent collection especially of Nuraghe and Roman era artifices.
They also have some fossilised trees.

Might be something at Porto Torres so shall go there tomorrow.
My landlord is a youngish tattooed man who spend a year in Sydney working as a kitchen hand in an Italian restaurant. He didn’t like Sydney, too expensive.
I assume he owns the building, perhaps he saved up his Sydney earnings.

Far canal i might just have landed a jeerb !!

That will depend what the WH&S wankers decide when they weigh up the results of their inspection.

In all seriosness I can get blokes and blokesses home in one piece.

That won’t be your role.

I do know how to put the right pacifer in the correct orifece when it comes to Gubbermint operatives.

Just so long as we understand the pacifier must be at a minimum the size of a baseball bat.

I have my own off grid accommodation … a truck .

Where ya gonna park it? I’m in the middle of town. Street camping ain’t viewed favourably here, the council is quick to act on grey nomads who camp under the bridge & places like that.
You’ll have to pay a caravan park for a lot.

In my experience they don’t require much “luring”
i.e. once they realise one is leading them back to one’s humping den, the lasso rope you used goes loose & you can’t get it tight again.

We aren’t “ready to rock” until a formal job offer has been made, & has been formally accepted.
Y’know, signatures on paper.

No job offer will be made until I see what these peckersniffers at WH&S want, most likely I’ll just tell them off, resoundingly, & then continue on as I was before – the two new Euro-honeys arrived this afternoon.

Hmm, to reach me in Vietnam, from Perth, your truck is facing quite an obstacle with all that salt water.
You should be okay if you just drive along the beach until you get here.

The truck may require dual fatties at low psi, and you’ll need to fill up in Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Phnomh Penh & Saigon.
So bring plenty of local dinero for each of those places.

You should be mindful that in Vietnam the Fair Work Act does not apply, nor does much other Australian law, & I’ll be allowed by the authorities, nay encouraged, to authorise whipping for poor work performance.
