An active duty member of the US Air Force set himself on fire in front of the Israeli embassy in Washington and declared “I will no longer be complicit in genocide.”

While on fire, he repeatedly yelled “Free Palestine.”

I hope he didn’t use USAF jet fuel.

There’s 30% of people out there that give their first preference to minor parties, which is huge.

Higher than that I suspect. Newspoll by definition reports the intended votes of voters who respond to polls. I don’t.

Committal hearing set down for Bruce Lehrmann’s rape case in Toowoomba

By aisling brennan
Queensland general news reporter
NCA NewsWire
Updated 1:48PM February 26, 2024, First published at 12:33PM February 26, 2024

The barrister representing former parliamentary staffer Bruce Lehrmann, who is facing rape charges in Toowoomba, will be able to cross-examine witnesses in the case against his client, a court has been told.

Police charged the 28-year-old with two counts of rape over an alleged incident in Toowoomba in October 2021.

He is yet to enter a plea but has indicated he will defend the charges.

Mr Lehrmann’s barrister, Patrick Wilson, told Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Monday that both parties had come to an “agreement about the scope” of the cross-examination of witnesses planned for a committal hearing on June 17.

Mr Wilson also told the court the Crown had agreed to “provide particulars” before the committal hearing.

Mr Lehrmann was not required to attend court on Monday and his bail was continued.

The criminal charges in Toowoomba are not related to the incident at the centre of a separate civil defamation trial involving Mr Lehrmann in the Federal Court in Sydney.

Last year, Mr Lehrmann’s identity was revealed after Queensland legislation was changed so that those accused of rape or sexual assault could now be named before they were committed for trial or entered a plea.

Previously, Mr Lehrmann was only known as a “high-profile man” in all media reporting.

After the law changed, he lost his bid to seek a non-publication order to continue to keep his name from public view.

I still can’t get over the $9 mn 4 bedroom, 1 car space terrace house in Paddo.

You find some curios on the Cat.
I knew the bloke who’d owned that terrace house. Knew him peripherally, it was his brother I knew.
Interesting what you find out. I knew they were cattlemen from Breeza Plain, didn’t know much else.
Except his brother, who I knew from mutual friends & his brother calling in to the pub from time to time, when on tour with the “Banjo Club” (a group of keen Australian poetry advocates who’d travel to various bush race meetings to support the bush)

Though they were mostly all well known to me, & sporadic visitors to my town, I had no idea the Banjo Club were racing identities. That never came up. Admiration for the bush, Australian history, and of course bush poetry, was all that was ever talked about (& red wine, my cellar may have had something to do with it, apparently it surpassed many in Sydney & contained bottles unknown to the fine wine shops of Woolloomooloo.)

Nor did I have any idea the brothers were excellent horsemen. “Learned to ride before they could walk” That was something we’d have had in common, topic never came up – then again, to blokes in the bush, being able to “ride before you could walk” is nothing to mention. For silvertails & plebs alike.

Had no idea the bloke who’d owned the terrace was an Olympic medalist. Shows you can know someone for years, & still be surprised.

The actual vendor of the terrace house would have been the estate of his widow. Whatever else went on around Paddington, I’d be very surprised if he’d been a part of the daffodil society. His purchase of the terrace may well predate the arrival of the “good with colours & decorating” cohort.

There was one helluva dust-up over the estate of the brothers. Went on for years.

I looked at a place at Mudgee, near the little village of Lue, before I bought my current property near Goulburn.
The house at Mudgee was bigger and not to old and a hundred thousand less than the one I bought. This place I have now had a bore and very fertile soil. The Mudgee property didn’t even have a dam and the land was very stony. But what really swung it for me, 2 hours from Camden versus 4 hours to Mudgee.

Two hours either way is an easy trip for one day. Family and friends visit regularly. Four hours, and you are into planning to stay the weekend territory.

We are 3 hrs from Sydney, and I have to agree that more than that makes it an arduous journey. We are about an hours’ drive from Mudgee – which makes it very acceptable as a pleasant morning or afternoon visit for provisions or winery lunch.
Visitors and family don’t have a problem with the drive from Sydney & enjoy a stopover or shop in one of the Blue Mountains villages.

However, you are right Pogria – it is at the very least an overnight stay – and most often 2-3 nights. But I find that this is good – as it spaces visits which can be time consuming when you have a farm, livestock and extensive gardens to look after. When we have 3-4 couples visiting I spend a fair time prior cooking & good part of a week after servicing bedrooms & recovering!

Nonetheless, I have always loved the Southern Highlands – especially Bowral and its environs. More civilised than our wild valley but very, very cultivated and beautiful.

Can’t see the point of Soyboy not revealing where the bodies are. Since he was a cop who used his service gun his sentencing is going to be at top end of the scale even if pleads guilty. He is young enough that he could still have a few years not in jail. Telling where bodies are might get him a slight jail discount. Is it NSW that brought in legislation that no parole if don’t reveal where body is ?

Meanwhile hitmen in the Mafia are already rolling around laughing that a cop should be so bad at crime scene cleaning up.

There was zero chance he was not going to be linked to the murders. He did not return the van and even took a friend to vicinity of where initially dropped the bodies.

Discovery of the bodies aside, the big question in this case is: Did any of his (possibly police) family have any after-the-fact knowledge or involvement.
They’re going to come under the microscope, as Plod searches for any hint they assisted him in any way.

Resident shoots alleged intruder inside Perth home
By Heather McNeill
February 26, 2024 — 6.23am

Listen to this article
1 min

An alleged intruder is in police custody after being shot by the owner of the house he targeted.

A WA Police spokesman claimed a 27-year-old man broke into a house in Stake Hill around 3.20am on Sunday.

Residents at the property were woken by the disturbance, with a man in his 50s arming himself with a rifle before checking each room of the house.

The man allegedly located the intruder naked, hiding in a bedroom wardrobe.

A confrontation occurred during which the intruder was shot in the leg.

He fled the scene and the resident immediately reported the incident to police.

The shot man was found by the police canine section a short distance from the house.

He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital and later charged with aggravated home burglary and one count of indecently dealing with a child under 13.

He will appear in Perth Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Inquiries are ongoing.

So they don’t even have a system for checking when cops take their guns out. Surely there is a roster of who is doing the user pays shift.

Serious flaws in their gun supervision. Family of victims might want to consider NSW for negligence and go for a payout.

Plane hijacker Leila Khaled’s eco-conference: Albanese government urged to intervene

A woman who hijacked two planes in 1969 and 1970 is set to speak at an Australian eco-conference unless the Albanese government intervenes. TAKE OUR POLL.

DAILYTELEGRAPH.COM.AU08:36

The Albanese government has been urged to intervene to stop a Palestinian activist who took part in a series of aeroplane hijackings in 1969 and 1970 from speaking at a Perth conference on “ecosocialism” in June.

In a letter to Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus, home affairs minister Clare O’Neil, and immigration minister Andrew Giles, the Executive Council of Australian Jewry has asked that Ms Khaled be blocked from speaking, even via video link, at the conference.

Organisers of the Ecosocialism 2024 conference have promoted Palestinian “activist” Leila Khaled’s appearance at the conference, which is billed as a chance to “fight climate change not war.”

According to the conference website, “Khaled is a national committee member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a socialist organisation that advocates for the creation of a democratic, secular Palestine.

However Ms Khaled was also one of the PFLP hijackers who took over a TWA flight from Rome to Tel Aviv, forcing the plane to divert to Damascus.

Should Palestinian activist Leila Khaled be permitted to speak at an Australian eco-conference?
Yes 6 %
No 94 %
217 votes

The group had thought that then-Israeli ambassador to the US Yitzhak Rabin was on the flight, although he was not.

No one was killed in the hijacking but two Israeli passengers were held for a number of months.

The following year, after undergoing plastic surgery to change her appearance, Ms Khaled took part in the near simultaneous hijacking of four separate airline flights.

Ms Khaled was arrested by British police in the wake of the hijackings but later freed as part of a hostage-prisoner swap.

Ms Khaled “remains a member of the national committee of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), an organisation which is listed under Australian sanctions laws,” the letter states.

“Given her criminal background and current associations, her appearance, actual or virtual, would be likely to have the effect of inciting, promoting or advocating terrorism to an Australian audience, to aggravate current social divisions and thus cause damage to social cohesion.”

In a series of incidents in 2020 and 2021, tech companies YouTube, Facebook (Meta), and Zoom have refused to carry broadcasts by Ms Khaled, citing terms of service and potential violations of US export control, sanctions, and anti-terrorism laws.

I think it’s silly to think that the phrase ‘Free Palestine’ is genocidal.

It’s most certainly genocidal. Don’t be disingenuous. Hamas and Fatah constitutional documents are quite clear on the subject. Polls make it clear what the local Palis want. Supporting “free Palestine” is therefore clearly supporting the aims and intentions of the Pali population, and that’s even before you get to the genocidal antisemitic verses in the Koran.

The Palis had a free state. It was called Gaza. They chose to behave poorly. Now they don’t have a free state and will not for a long time. They had the opportunity to behave like decent civilized people and they used it to attempt genocide on Jews instead.

100%.

There’s three categories here:

1) “Free Palestine” means free all of Israel of Jews and Christians.
2) “Free Palestine” means free Gaza from Israel (which it was until they decided to suicide themselves).
3) “Free Palestine” means to free Gaza of Hamas.

Option 1 being the most favourable to Pallis.

Hiring working holiday makers (sometimes known inaccurately as “backpackers”) it is always wise to look at their background.

There’s some absolute shocker backpackers, who’re worse than any employer’s worst nightmare. Pre-covid I’d probably hire about ten total disasters each year. As I got better at reading-between-the-lines of their background, the number of total disasters was brought down to only a few each year.

The best thing that anyone can do for the Palestinians at the current time is to urge them to surrender unconditionally and release the remaining hostages.

The Japanese finally surrendered and were occupied for several years. Once they earned the chance to govern themselves responsibly and in peace they were given it.

Israel withdrew from Gaza and gave those Palis a chance to do likewise. They didn’t take the chance. I am sure if they now surrender like the Japanese and behave responsibly the Israelis would eventually give them their freedom in like manner. After all Israel just wants to be left alone.

But we all know they never will be. And therefore the Palis are going to be up against it demonstrating good faith, which I very much doubt they ever will. But who knows maybe the horse will indeed learn to sing.

Israel has offered a two state solution several times, so there’s no reason why they wouldn’t try yet again if there was reason to believe it is viable.

“Free Palestine” is a really despicable slogan in the current context. It is very clear what it means. My contempt for anyone who uses it is vast.

Notice how the regime in Ramallah has been quiet as a mouse through all this, despite fierce combat in the West Bank, especially in Jenin. The IDF has even been calling in air strikes when required.

The reason why Abbas has been so quiet is that the IDF is conducting a hot war with Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters in his territory. It is to Fatah’s benefit that Hamas and IJ are exterminated in the West Bank, and I suspect Fatah is quietly assisting Mossad and Shin Bet with intel.

Yes it wasn’t quite on the 1967 borders, but it gave the same area to the Palis. All they had to do was accept that a few sections would be politically difficult to give back, especially Arial near Jerusalem. But the Israelis were willing to give quid pro quo land exchange in a deal.

Olmert is a lefty, but it was clear at the time that almost everyone in Israel would go along with such a deal. They just wanted peace. Maybe Olmert would’ve suffered the fate of Rabin, but there weren’t any demos or protests against the proposal, or at least none that I can remember. I’ve been busy, giving an interior designer a hand moving some stuff to a property in Bungonia. I just sat in the rented van while he moved the stuff into the dam. No, I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. Hope I’m not going to be charged with assisting in the covering up of a crime.

Re Constable Hyphen-Soyboy.
This is a long shot, I know, and I think sticking with “monumental dumb-arse” as a basic premise is wise here.
But what if he cooled down and realised he hadn’t committed the perfect crime and wanted to throw Plod off the scent?
He could dump the bodies somewhere around Newcastle.
Then drive to Sydney and find the most gullible bimbo in his contacts list, who will crumble and spill the beans under the slightest duress.
Make sure she sees him buy the ankle grinder, lock and weights. Drive down to Bungonia, drop her at the end of the road drive on, wait half an hour then pick her up and drive back to Sydney.
Pitch the ankle grinder and lock anywhere.
A long shot, as I say, but I cannot believe someone would bother creating an after the fact witness who was no practical use to him.

F around and find out.
From the Saturday Telegraph.
In 2019 a Mullumbimby woman died following a heart attack after taking “kambo”, a poison taken from the South American giant monkey tree frog.(for her health)
It appears that “kambo” has subsequently been classified as a poison and is now illegal.
No surprises so far but the State Coroner is a beaut. She made no recommendations because of the subsequent banning of the poison.
She is quoted as follows, “While regulators must balance the risk of harm with personal liberties…people are drawn to using kambo in circumstances where those who administer it…lack basic training in first aid.”
“Without wishing to insinuate blame or shame, it is…extremely regrettable that (Victoria Sinclair who administered the drug) had not equipped herself with the number for triple-0. Vital time was lost before triple-0 was called.”

So some nutter who was pissing around with poison from an Amazon tree frog which killed her patient deserves no “blame or shame?”
It is merely “regrettable” that the skank “had not equipped herself with the number for triple-0” and “vital time was lost.”
If the State Coroner Ms. O’Sullivan has been accurately reported then she has failed at her job.

NSW head copperette on the skids:

Karen Webb has again been caught on the back foot when she should be instilling confidence

NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb says questions over her leadership are “offensive”. Rather than attacking critics, she should lift her game in public communication, writes James O’Doherty.

Police Commissioner Karen Webb has a major perception problem; time and again she has been caught on the defensive when she should have been on the front foot.

How many chances should the state’s top cop get to lift her game in communicating with the public?

The Police Commissioner on Monday declared criticisms of her leadership were “offensive”.

But instead of attacking journalists, perhaps Webb should look at her own response in times of crisis.

As Commissioner, Webb is supposed to be the figurehead of the Police. She rarely fronts the media to speak to the public; when she does, it is clear why.

She now stands accused of going into “hiding” over her delay in fronting the public after one of her own was charged with murder.

Webb was publicly absent amid the frantic search for Luke Davies and Jesse Baird last week. It then took two days after Constable Beau Lamarre-Condon was charged for the police boss to break her silence and express her “heartfelt condolences” to the men’s families.

Webb argues she was tied up at budget estimates on Friday and attended a sunrise service in Coogee on Saturday.

On Monday morning she revealed that she had tasked Victorian Police with reviewing how a serving NSW police officer had access to his firearm out of work hours, which detectives say was used in the killing of the Sydney couple.

Webb on Monday left it to her Deputy Commissioner David Hudson to provide operational details of the murder investigation, before lashing out at suggestions she had been caught short.

As Upper House MP Rod Roberts told The Daily Telegraph, it’s Webb’s job to “instil public confidence in the NSW Police Force – If the public has no confidence in the police force themselves, and that always comes from the top, things start to unravel”.

Her lacklustre response to the alleged murder of Mr Davies and Mr Baird is the latest in a string of bungles.

First, there was the response to the tasering of 95-year-old great grandmother Clare Nowland, when police took two days to acknowledge that a taser had been used.

The Telegraph later revealed that fourteen hours after the incident at the Cooma nursing home, Webb’s chief of staff told colleagues that the state’s top cop intended on taking a day off.

That day off was cancelled, something which should have been immediately obvious.

She was also missing in action after protesters burned Israeli flags and shouted anti-Semitic chants outside the Opera House on October 9.

Rank and file police officers are increasingly unhappy with Webb’s performance, and Premier Chris Minns was hardly effusive in his defence of the state’s top cop on Monday.

Minns will not sack Webb, but he would be desperately hoping that her performance improves.

Seems his income from YouTube and a chocolate brand is about 550m pounds per year. He is mid 20’s and been creating content since 13. A lot of his income is given away whilst creating his content. Houses and cars etc.

Sure.
Of course, the questions ensued.

“So how do you do your quarterly BAS then?”
“Err, what? Gambling is one of the most regulated activities in the country. If you can’t reconcile your Pokies revenue to the last cent, how come the gaming company and regulator aren’t all over you?”

Indigenous Australians and Torres Strait Islanders in SA to vote for state-based Voice (Sky News, 26 Feb)

On March 16 more than 27,000 Indigenous Australians and Torres Strait Islanders will elect the members of the South Australian First Nations Voice to Parliament.

So only aboriginals get to vote? When did South Australians get a referendum on this? Oh that’s right it was last year and they voted 60% against it.

Not going to further the cause of recognition and racial amity one bit. Fury and hatred more like. Nothing worse than an unelected bunch of people telling us what to do.

Soooo, no proof mate, we trust ya. Just chuck it back in the cabinet when ya done, ‘kay?

This was mentioned a couple of days back – but pretty much, yep.

Access is not restricted, but audit trails of swipe card access to such places will reveal relevant times and dates. Basic maths at the time revealed that this would occur over 8700 times in one station alone each year.

The alternative is to have a bloke individually checking weapons out (as I have heard used to happen in some such places quite a while back), but in this case also asking:

‘Now, are you or are you not planning to kill your gay lover and his new squeeze before bringing this back? Because if you are, I’m not going to give this shooter to you.’

Dunkley polling still shows 12% voting for the filth. It’s a mental illness.

It also reflects that there is no One Nation or Fat Bastard Party this year in Dunkley, which means, if you don’t want to vote for the Filth or the Liars, you have no choice but to vote for the Stupid Frigging Liberals, who this week waved through the Victorian parliament the Liars’ green dream that calls for 95% hippie electricity in the next 20 years.

The state LNP leader Proscuttio hates those who want to vote for him and is a recipe for permanent opposition. He needs to be arseholed toote suite or the Stupid Frigging Liberals will never again hold government in Victoria.

I’m thinking of a system used by a tech manufacturing business that I know of in the US that uses a QR code-like function on their “production line”.
Stuff can’t move to the next stage until you QR code release it.
Means 100% accountability at every stage.
Your QR like function is bio metric so you can’t give your device to someone else.

Maybe plod should have something similar on their gun lockers.
Instant traceability that some AI could monitor weapons that are being checked out at odd times.
Also, if someone like the chap in Sydney tried to check out his weapon but wasn’t rostered onto do anything that needed it, it would set off alarms.

Doesn’t seem like an onerous system/procedure to put into place.

Under The Bus and/or Sour Grapes news (the NT News, paywalled):

The NT Police’s most elite tactical unit routinely handed out awards for “c–n of the year”, mockingly recognising its members “for exhibiting the most c–n-like behaviour of the year”, a court has heard.

Former NT police constable Zachary Rolfe gave the explosive testimony at an inquest into the death of Kumanjayi Walker, who he shot and killed during a bungled arrest in 2019, after returning to the witness box on Monday.

Doubtless this will be third-hand or worse information, but still.

Mr Rolfe, who was acquitted on all charges over the shooting in 2022, also told Coroner Elisabeth Armitage his police colleagues in Alice Springs would refer to an “Aboriginal only” pub as “the animal bar”.

That term is not restricted to the NT jacks, nor is it only in Alice Springs this occurs.

Mr Rolfe said he had been surprised to hear other officers denying racist language was used routinely within the force, saying it was “normalised” and “utilised nearly daily”.

That’s not what he said during the trial.

“You’ve heard evidence about the Territory Response Group and how professional they are and they are the tip of the spear and from the TRG a number of those members have gone on to have high ranking positions in the police force,” he said.

“Up until recently the TRG had an annual party where they would issue awards to some of the members. Among the police force we had heard of this award and we knew it to be called the ‘c–n of the year award’ … for exhibiting the most c–n-like behaviour of the year.”

And:

“This is accepted and this is known about by multiple people who have given evidence here, and multiple people have lied about it and the people who have taken part in it have moved their way up into the executive,” he said.

Mr Rolfe appears to have been told about a lot of things, without actually knowing them.

“Culture starts at the head and in a small place like the NT Police, we’re going to hear about this kind of stuff and this does become normalised.”

Really having a crack, it would seem.

Mr Rolfe said as he was not a member of the TRG he never attended the party but had heard about it “through other TRG members who have gone throughout the police force”.

Hmm.

“I know there’s a (live) stream on so I’d remind them that there’s photos and videos of this ceremony occurring,” he said.

I’m actually not sure what Rolfe intends to achieve here. He’s obviously been told that as this is a coronial matter rather than a trial, the normal rules of evidence and burdens of proof don’t apply.

By the same token though, he has absolutely opened himself up to open slather when counsel for the NT jacks has a crack at him.

I hear that Rolfe was a mad rooter of chick cops while in Alice Springs, which is fine (if not laudable), but I also hear he was extremely disparaging to them afterwards in the presence of all sorts of other people in and out of the jacks.

I sure hope Rolfe hasn’t had – or still does have – a stash of intimate chick copper pics, taken without consent and forwarded to other people that he thinks the brass don’t know about, and that counsel haven’t got hanging over his head.

I suuurely hope.

The West is going to have to shoot their way out of this mess – there’s not going to be an alternative.

For fear that members of parliament would be murdered if they did not vote in accordance with the wishes of the “From the River to the Sea” horde choking the surrounding streets, the UK parliament just halted a vote. The UK parliament went to quite some breach of convention to ensure that vote was never put to the floor of parliament, to avoid angering the “Free Palestine” horde.

If there’s a way out of this, without shooting our way out, let’s hear it …..
