“It’s a big call but this case, of all the corrupt cases against Trump, takes the cake for sheer unadulterated bullshit.”

A difficult call indeed!

NY: even Democrat leaning lawyers are asking what the crime was and what relevance Trumps preferred sexual position has to a bookkeeping charge, never mind the unfairness of asserting that DJT cannot even respond to disparaging public comments made by potential witnesses.

GA: the prosecutor looks set to at the very least be removed from the case (essentially “re-setting” the whole deal) and at worst facing charges herself, and perhaps even open to being personally sued for wrongful prosecution of at least 18 individuals

FL: the prosecution has admitted to evidence tampering, which by the “fruit of the poisoned tree” doctrine means they likely don’t have any admissible evidence left.

I sincerely hope DJT wins and then uses the precedents set in the cases against him against the entire set of democrat pollies and deep staters. Not because I think it’s the right thing to do, but because they need to learn that rules and norms exist for a reason, and you will reap what you sow. Best would be to have them indicted, put on trial to expose their malfeasance, and then for Trump to pardon them near the conclusion of said trials, with the comment that the pardon is made because such political prosecutions should no longer be entertained by either side, and this is an end to the matter.

Former PM Tony Abbott launches a blistering rebuke of COVID-19 pandemic leaders after bombshell pandemic report

Former prime minister Tony Abbott in a scathing rebuke has said state and territory leaders’ overreach during the COVID-19 pandemic eroded Australia’s democracy.

Former prime minister Tony Abbott has backed fresh criticism of Daniel Andrews and other COVID-era leaders, claiming the premiers’ overreach eroded Australia’s democracy.
The former Victorian premier and other state and territory leaders have landed in hot water for adopting health decisions during the pandemic which were not backed by medical advice, according to former federal health minister Greg Hunt’s submission in the federal government’s inquiry into COVID-19.

Now, Mr Abbott has expressed fresh disapproval of COVID-19 era leaders, saying “the policy to deal with COVID-19 turned out to be far worse than the disease itself”.

“When you go back and look at this honestly and dispassionately, you’d have to say that the first mistake that governments made was throwing out the carefully prepared pandemic plans that we all had in panic in early March 2020, because of the dire photographs coming out of overwhelmed Italian hospitals,” he said.

Mr Abbott said there was “no doubt” government’s “ceased being a democracy and became a kind of a doctocracy” at the time.
Victoria implemented stringent curfews, a 5 kilometre radius, as well as the state’s choice not to use ADF personnel at hotel quarantine facilities.
The state of emergency in Victoria was extended for four additional weeks in April, a move the government claimed help slow the spread of coronavirus and save lives.
Residents and businesses who did not follow COVID-19 restrictions were subject to on-the-spot fines from Victoria Police who were granted additional powers.

Victoria’s tough measures were backed by advice from former state health minister Jenny Mikakos and then chief health officer professor Brett Sutton.

In his submission, Mr Hunt said despite references to “medical advice”, some decisions made by the then Victorian premier lacked such advice from the Commonwealth and chief health medical officers.
“And my fear is that without a fair dinkum Royal Commission type inquiry into the whole response to COVID. Next time a pandemic happens, and it will, we’ll take the over the top response to this one, as the model for all future actions,” Mr Abbott said.
?
“But the last thing we want to be is locked up, for several years, again, in response to a disease that turned out to be relatively mild.”

Spud should, if he gets in, make the most of a Royal Commission into government malfeasance and misfeasance during the coof pantomime.

Disgrace all the pollies who leapt in the bandwagon and trampled on our rights and on commonsense while they sought political gain. That means all of Labor (who do not tolerate dissent), the Greens (to whom the idea of freedom is like colour to a blind person – they can hear how people talk about it but have no idea what they are talking about), and the wet Libs.

The thwarting of Abbott’s Warringah Motion, which would have freed branches to choose their members, was a disaster.

AND .. cos I’m having one of my, bloody, looooooooooong dayz an addition to the ME, ME, ME file ……….!

Having lotza free time being an OAP who. cos quacks, is now spending too much time at home & on the net I drift onto EBay quite a lot .. not too buy but just out of the curiosity of being a “born” collector ..
I’m getting quite amazed at how much I could be worth, on paper, going off Ebay offerings & sales …. setting aside my stamp collection(s) as the only way to sell them would be by break-up and far too much time & effort with individual listings for the plethora of various themes .. we’re talking 23 full albums not counting full Oz pre & decimals collections, pre is a mix of used & mint , decimal is all mint ……..
 But the Oz coin collection(s) seem to go gang-busters, lotza $2 coloured sets, individuals & a full collection .. same applies $1s, 50cents & 20 cents … I’ve got ‘em all ..
Then there is my “Dad, why don’t you get rid of all those silly-old-ornaments” collection .. This from adult kids who have no idea what DELFT is or its worth .. duuh!
Disney & Looney Tunes plastic mugs ( 80 different), apparently still being chased after ..
Unfortunately, due to Oz Post prices the market has fallen away when it comes to books so my military collections (Napoleon, US Civil War, WW2 and Ancient World miscellany) are more op-shop bound than any likely dollars recouping …….
But in the end, for the 1st time in my life (76) I am, actually, well off .. by my standards, not anywhere near what my kids have but for a country bumkin from a pit village in County Durham way beyond what I ever expected ..
Mind, mostly due to doing bugger-all when it comes to money over the last few years .. The OAP goes into the bank and other than basic living expenses + grandees-doting it ends up in my back garden “safe” .. soooo I have no need or inclination to sell ..
but it’s nice to know I am/or wuz pretty good at pickin’ stuff up …… LOL!

Now – re Abbott & Hunt’s comments:

Firstly, Greg Hunt is attempting to cover his ar-e. After all, he was the Health Minister who actually endorsed the mRNA vaccines. And what is this s–t about governments not seeking medical advice????? They DID, but it proved the WRONG advice. They certainly did not rebuke or deny the actual copious medical “advice” that came from all sorts of medical advisers – state, c’wealth, universities etc etc. And they damn well didn’t heed the contrary advice of many many retired senior practitioners ( eg Emeritus Prof. of Immunology and Dr. Phillip Altman, a doctor of pharmacology with 40 years experience – including clinical drug trials for our TGA) who were aghast at the adoption of novel vaccines without sufficient clinical trials.

Correct me if I am wrong – but, although Tony Abbott’s comments are very welcome now, I don’t recall his opposition to the policies at the time. Did he appear at the famous rally in Canberra amongst all those families & average Aussies????

Having said that …. I do understand the fear at the time…. it wasn’t easy to go against the trend and so many senior officials, let alone family & friends. So, I am happy to see the mea culpas. But the bitterness lingers……

The French nobility regarded the peasantry as less than fully human

Reminds me of a movie we watched recently – Lady Jane – about the life of Lady Jane Grey, who lasted nine days as queen after Edward her brother died.

Mary – the eldest daughter of Henry VIII – won out instead.

Attracted to the movie on the basis of the cast, which included Helena Bonham Carter in the lead. Unfortunately the scriptwriter got away with depicting Jane and her husband Guilford as being interested in giving the peasantry more rights, giving women a better place in society etc etc.

At one stage G declares:”I want a world where men are not branded or sent into slavery because they can’t grow the food they need to eat!”

Turned it off at that point. Jane liked to pray a lot and was very intelligent, but the the thought of giving those slaving in the fields a better deal would hardly have crossed their minds.

The Children of Henry VIII by Alison Weir, gives a better insight.

No winners’ in defamation case: Justice Lee
Ellie Dudley
Federal Court judge Michael Lee says there are “no real winners” in Bruce Lehrmann’s defamation case against Network Ten and Lisa Wilkinson, as he criticised the broadcaster for advancing “an assertion that they won the litigation” in the aftermath of the judgment.
Justice Lee is delivering a costs judgment and determining who will foot the bill for the reported $10 million associated with the landmark case.
“Although the respondents legally justified the imputation of rape, their conduct was not justifiable in any broader sense,” Justice Lee said on Friday afternoon.
He criticised the “credulous” approach of The Project team in “readily” believing Brittany Higgins’ rape allegations, as communicated to them by her partner, David Sharaz.
Justice Lee said last month he had reached a “level of satisfaction” that costs would be awarded in Ten’s favour, but has not yet revealed the amount.
Network Ten’s failed qualified privilege defence will not impact its ability to claim costs, Justice Lee says.
While Mr Lehrmann had argued the broadcaster’s inability to prove it had acted reasonably in its interview with Ms Higgins on The Project should reduce the proportion of costs it is ordered, Justice Lee disagreed.
“I’ve concluded the issues of the statutory qualified privilege defence were not sufficiently severable from other aspects of the case such as to make it appropriate to deprive Network Ten of its costs of this aspect of the proceeding entirely,” he said.

Agree…..it’s a very good book, worth reading.

Well, get a load of this shit, I think you’ll find the film ‘Lady Jane’, with Helena Bonham Carter, is a masterpiece of historical accuracy compared to the latest drivel that has just been made in the UK. Don’t laugh but they’ve just done a series on Lady Jane Grey called ‘My Lady Jane’….and of course, Lady Jane’s cousin, the young tuberculosis plagued king, Edward VI, only son of Henry VIII by his third wife Jane Seymour, brother to ‘Bloody Mary and Elizabeth I, is being played by a black actor.

Who knew that the UK had so many black people back in the 1530s and 1540s? The Tudors were black? The Seymour family was black? I don’t think so. I’m sorry, but I refuse to watch such grotesque garbage. Everything is being blackwashed.

He criticises Channel 10 for blindly believing Higgins’ nonsensical story but the one and only reason he found that Lehrmann was a rapist was because Higgins was, apparently, super-duper credible.

I’ll repeat. No judge in Australia complained about the lockdowns or forced vaccines – betraying literally 800 years of post-Magna Carta jurisprudence (forced vaccination is a form of extra-judicial punishment).

A Darwin edition of Monopoly is set to hit shelves, with a team of board makers consulting locals to determine what locations will feature in the game.

On Tuesday, the company behind the development, Winning Moves, announced work was underway to piece together a localised version of the popular trading game.

Winning Moves representative Jaime-Lee de Niet said the idea to feature Darwin had been floated “for years”.

“Between its vast history, diverse culture and breathtaking scenery, Darwin is such a special part of Australia,” she said.

“We’ve been wanting to create a custom Darwin board for years and are thrilled the time has finally come to honour all that’s iconic about the region.”

My comments under the article, still in moderation:

“Go to jail” squares on every corner?

How about a Chance card that gives you a bottle of wine at the same price as one down south?

Or another one that says “You have constant shocking headaches. Fly to Adelaide and stay there at own hotel expense to see a neurologist.”

Or another that says: “Your house has been broken into. The police know who did it as they have fingerprints. The court case will take two years to happen, and then the offenders will be given a $100 fine which they won’t pay, and which nothing will be done about. You get nothing.”

Lehrmann to pay 90 per cent of Ten’s fees
Federal Court judge Michael Lee has granted a costs order in Network 10’s favour in its landmark defamation case against Bruce Lehrmann.
Justice Lee has ruled the network can recover costs from Mr Lehrmann on an indemnity basis – covering about 90 per cent of its legal bill – in relation to its truth defence, and on an ordinary or party-party basis – about 70 per cent of its legal bill – in relation to the qualified privilege defence.
“On balance, the appropriate exercise of discretion is to make an award that Network Ten recover its costs against Mr Lehrmann on an indemnity basis, except for costs incurred in relation to the statutory qualified privilege defence, which will be recoverable, save for the costs of the affidavits, to which I referred on an ordinary or party-party,” he said.
He made an award in the same terms for Lisa Wilkinson.

I agree, Vicki. However, to be fair to Tony Abbott, remember that he was the subject of several malicious complaints during Covid, one time involving that unlamented Skank from Scotland Island, who reported him to the police for being maskless, another time was when he was dobbed into the police for the crime of being without a mask at Manly Beach. He had to pay a fine the second time.

As for Greg Hunt, spare me his chutzpah. He had a responsibility to speak out during the Covid insanity, instead he, like Scumbag, stayed silent.

Just freaking unreal.

Words can’t describe how horrible Lee is.

He previously said he would barely have given Lehrmann a red cent even if he found that he never raped Higgins. Only the reputations of important people matter to Lee. It doesn’t bother him in the slightest if little people can never get employment again or are abused in the street. Only judges, politicians and celebrities need worry about their reputation – everyone else is pondscum according to Lee.

He isn’t in the slightest bit bothered at the idea of a media organisation with hundreds of millions of dollars backing it, destroying the life of a mere pleb. Lee has spent the last month speaking power to truth and he revelled in it.

It appears that Craig McLachlan, back in early 2022, did the prudent thing in dropping his defamation case against Nine and the ABC.

So, Justice Lee prefaces his costs judgment today by stating that there are no winners in this case but he then goes on to validate and reward Ten and the Amphibian.

I would like to make clear that my comment was not in response to Old Ozzie’s Abbott comment.

’Tis mere happenstance!

With that out of the way I am drinking my preferred Speyside scotch and listening to Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy.

Bruch – a German – lived in a part of the world choked by traditional and folk tunes. Everywhere he went there would have been folk tunes – when he passed street performers with violins on street corners, labourers whistling at work, the humming of the buxom frau at the brauhaus, even just turning on the kitchen tap…

I suppose Scottish tunes were exotic though and strongly hinted at a mystical wilderness with its mountains, gorges and clear spring waters, its strange beasts, its wraith-like spirits, where the ancient and present coexisted, wreathed in mist. In exactly the same way we might imagine those old German towns to be filled with handsomely bewhiskered men bellowing with laughter over foam brimming tankards, served by shapely blonde women in comely traditional costume – utterly insensate to the stink of horseshit in the street, the inescapable mischievous drafts, the inadequacy of the plumbing, and the insistent lack of personal hygiene products – an entire village without a single stick of Rexona between them!

I suppose it is a bit like those mediaeval French women who were so entranced by the stories they heard of King Arthur in that strange, at once dreamlike and nightmarish, land across the channel. The stories the French told of Arthur were almost unrecognisable compared to the traditional British ones – and it was the French ones that won out. The idle civilised and safe with the opportunity to escape their world into fantastical realms with monsters, maids, knights, and superhuman gallantry.

Small aside – when I first saw Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Arthur was facing the French taunter who derisively spoke of “Arthur King, you and all your silly English…Keniggits”. It was not until years later I realised ‘keniggits’ was a mocking pronunciation of ‘knights’: ‘k-nig-hts’.

Naturally I now seek to distance myself this misapprehension by using it to mock other people. “Hmmph! That astrophysicist is so stupid that I bet he doesn’t know ‘keniggits’ is a joke on the spelling of ‘knights’. Yeah. And he poohs his pants!”

There is no comeback to that, right?

It appears a critical issue for Justice Lee in making this decision was Mr Lehrmann’s denial that any sexual activity took place while the pair were in the office of Senator Linda Reynolds.

Justice Lee said, even in an alternative where he did not find the rape took place, he was unable to find there was no sex at all.

So now the judicial heir to Marie Antoinette backtracks. Maybe there wasn’t rape after all but Lehrmann still deserves to have his life destroyed because he had the temerity to defend himself using a strategy that may well have been completely valid but nonetheless gave this great legal mind bad feelz.

It’s like every judge in Australia was replaced by TikTok feminists.

Utterly bizarre. Lehrmann’s defence was incredibly high risk because it was actually true. If he had had sex there is no way in a million years he would have denied it. Lee just inverted the most obvious exculpatory piece of information to somehow justify destroying Lehrmann.

Indemnity costs are not unusual and can be awarded in straight forward circumstances where a party makes an offer to settle which is refused by the other side and which is improved at the final hearing. In this case Lee has made the award due to his finding that Lehrmann acted improperly and lied to the court.

But this comment by Lee is extraordinary:

Justice Lee said, even in an alternative where he did not find the rape took place, he was unable to find there was no sex at all.

“Even if I had not reached the level of satisfaction Mr Lehrmann raped Ms Higgins … I would have declined to award costs in Mr Lehrmann’s favour.”

So even if Lehrmann had disproved 10’s truth defence he would have got nothing because Lee asserts Lehrmann may still have had sex with briternee. That is fuking amazing and grounds for appeal on the basis that since Lee concedes he cannot be sure Lehrmann had or did not have consensual sex how the fuk can he be sure on the standard of proof that non-consensual sex ie rape occurred?!

Indeed, the Shia and Shia offshoot sects such as the Alawites, Druze and Ismailihave long been on the receiving end of Sunni extremism and violence.

The Druze might want to consider making common cause with Israel. One thing that has become ineluctably clear over the past few weeks is that, in contrast to the vehemence the anti-Israel mob that ultimately sway national policy because their tantrums outlast news cycles, their intellectual heft could not bend a single blade of (doubtless racist, Zionist, patriarchal, misogynist, sexist, racist again, white supremacist) grass.

Thinking in slogans rather than concepts, a single slurring of ‘Druze’ as ‘Jews’ could see them as vilified and as deserving of death as those brilliant, peaceable, but somehow intolerable, people whose one wish is not to be killed for some retarded, camel stinking, wife beating, child molesting vendetta.

Brittany Higgins fights on against Linda Reynolds defamation claim – as Sharaz waves white flag

Brittany Higgins looks set to battle on to defend the defamation claim against her by outgoing WA Senator Linda Reynolds – but her fiance David Sharaz has confirmed he is waving the white flag.
During a strategic conference before WA Supreme Court judge Paul Tottle on Friday, lawyers for Mr Sharaz confirmed that his statement that he would “not fight Reynold’s legal actions anymore” still stood.
They confirmed he would not contest her claims during the trial scheduled to begin in July.
However, his barrister Jason MacLaurin warned that the question of how much damages he might have to pay could still be argued over.

OpinionWhy you won’t find this woman’s name on the list of Australian victims of domestic violence murdersGary AdsheadJournalist
May 10, 2024 — 3.00am

Listen to this article
4 min
She was punched 40 times in the head and neck, repeatedly stomped on, choked and hit again before staggering away and dying.
But you won’t find the 24-year-old’s name on the growing list of women killed by their partners, because the West Australian justice system concluded that the Aboriginal woman’s death was not “directly” or “indirectly caused” by the beating she took on December 15, 2022.

Her attacker, Aaron Leyton Wumi, wasn’t charged with manslaughter or murder despite admitting to every prolonged and punishing part of the bashing.
Instead, Wumi eventually pleaded guilty to doing “an act as a result of which the life, health or safety” of his victim “was likely to be endangered”.
His punishment was a four-year jail sentence. It was backdated to the time of his arrest just hours after he delivered such a level of brutality it prompted WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch to describe it as “one of the most violent attacks I’ve ever seen in a public place”.
Wumi was sentenced in the District Court last week. With parole he’ll be a free man by Christmas.
If you’re thinking none of the above seems fathomable at a time when the nation’s leaders from the Prime Minister down have condemned violence against women – and promised to end the cowardly scourge – then you’re not alone.
The family of the victim, who I will refer to by her cultural name of Nyaparu, have been left feeling as though their relative’s life didn’t count.
“This is a black-on-black death,” her brother-in-law Michael told me this week. “They don’t care.”
Michael doesn’t accept how the decision not to lay more serious charges was made.
The post-mortem concluded the level of alcohol found in Nyaparu’s body and her pre-existing heart issue combined to end her life.

“If she didn’t get beaten would she have had a heart attack?” he said on 6PR this week.
“Him chasing her around the city and the assault that occurred caused the heart attack.”
If you’re wondering whether a lack of evidence about the ferocity of the assault was an issue in determining the appropriate charge and resulting sentence handed down to Wumi, the answer is no.
Almost all of what Wumi did was captured on CCTV in Yagan Square and another location between 12.42am and 1.47am that morning.
“You continued to strike the victim to the head and upper body while she was curled protecting herself,” Judge Wendy Hughes said while sentencing Wumi.
“You pulled her to the ground and continued to punch her to the head, face and torso before kicking her to the head and stomping on her head with your foot approximately five times.”
You get the picture. The Judge certainly understood the gravity of what Wumi did.
“The women in your community must be respected,” Judge Hughes said.
“They are not a punching bag for your anger.”
Horrific, but not deadly enough for the system to determine Nyaparu suffered so gravely at the hands of her attacker that it killed her.

Endured some ABCcess yesterday, there was a big ” report” on the protesters at US unis.
The usual fart huffing over how any attempt to restrict them was bad, and how awful the counter protesters are etc
But after reading that piece posted here on the funding and groups involved it was all the more galling as agitprop dressed up as serious journalism.
There is news there, how the same groups, funded by the same people, glim onto any grievance to afflict wider society with impunity.
But the media won’t touch it, I wonder if they get a sling as well.

The Bay of Biscay, the Sacred Heart and other San Sebastian stories.

For those who haven’t visited San Sebastian, the layout of the city is worth a description. Sprawled along a golden sand portion of the great Bay, it is dissected into a few very distinct districts. The first is the Old Town, nestled under a great outcrop called mount Urgull, which is covered with gardens and remnant vegetation. On the top is an enormous statue called the Sacred Heart. The little town is thus protected from northern gales which threaten, and often do, send the ocean over the sea wall.

Then there is the estuary, which splits this area from the newer part, the Gros. This is where we stayed this time, a very nice hotel called Abba. It has a cycleway just outside the front gate – pedestrian beware! Some lovely bridges span the channel which is full of fish and has, I’m told, a 4m tide.

Directly opposite is another “new town” in which sits the neo gothic cathedral. If you look very carefully, there is a crooked line of sight up to its more elderly relation in the Old Town. And it’s the Old Town that’s full of bars and pinchos and funny little shops. Still recovering from the destructive and totally unnecessary covid nightmare.

Yesterday, as we set out under glorious “Sydney Blue” skies, I noticed a great sea mist developing over the Bay. Slowly, inexorably, it crept towards the town. It enveloped Mount Urgull, leaving only the statue visible. Then it swathed the head with a halo of mist, and finally everything was fog. The cold descended. Sunny Spain no more. A pea souper had caught us.

Shirley that would be Morgan Freeman? Deeper voice and “presence”.

I have always been slightly mystified by the association of Freeman as the intellectual. To me he sounds like someone sitting on the back porch. His delivery is kind of flat drawled out.

I am mentioning this because I rewatched 7even last night. I thought it was the hot blonde sheila from Star Trek. There should be a law…

Freeman was perfect for the character ‘Red’ in the Shawshank Redemption – laid back, wise, and controlled. And able to express welcome if unexpected surprise.

Denzel Washington has a much miner clip and tempo to his voice. He has a cadence in delivery. When he talks to someone he is schooling them.

The best, though, must be James Earl Jones who might be disqualified from many roles by being too powerful such that it would overshadow and smother the other actors. When he speaks to someone he is ruling them. I saw him on House the other night playing am utterly despicable African dictator. You hated him, but you could see the power of the dictator within him.

Talking about the West Coast. A poll in Perma-left Washington State showed Trump is ahead by a point. Look, if Trump is ahead in Washington, it could potentially mean the election is a straight-out Trump tsunami of 1984 proportion, which was when Reagan won by the length of the universe. Forget landslide talk. The margin could be so big that it would be impossible to steal without being found out.

I know, I know, I’m an optimist, but I wouldn’t totally discount a Trump win in New York. There’s Upstate, which is no bullshit central, and there are a lot of really pissed-off New York Jews in the city.

There’s one other thing to consider with the too-big-to steal theory. They stole the 2020 election in what were believed to be marginal states. If the blue states are going for Trump, the tsunami will be just too big to cheat. They may not have the infrastructure ready to steal blue.

As for the assassination Trump idea, If Trump picks the right VP, there’s no need to worry because you just end up with a younger Trump, and the demons would be aware of this. I suspect the potential to assassinate Trump is very much dependent on the choice of VP.

I know this sounds clinical, but that’s where we end up either way.

Bruce won’t be going to Debtors’ Prison, if we have ratified these conventions

In 1963 Article 1 of the Protocol No. 4 to the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms
“No one shall be deprived of his liberty merely on the ground of inability to fulfil a contractual obligation.”
In 1976 Article 11 of the ICCPR – International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights – came into effect stating,
“No one shall be imprisoned merely on the ground of inability to fulfill a contractual obligation.”
These international agreements contradict the domestic laws of several ratifying states which allow for imprisonment.

Fun fact.
Less than half the Muslims in Australia recognise the “The Grand Mufti”.

Going from memory here and from an interpreter we had in central Asia but Sunni’s don’t have hierarchical clergy so no Imam is superior to any others hence the problem with controlling the hate preachers.

Shia on the other hand have such hierarchy, hence the Mullahs & Ayatollahs.

If we have close to half/half Shia & Sunni here wowee that is an epic imbalance. Something like 90% of the world Muslims are Sunni.

Something’s bothering me: How Justice Lee found that Lehrmann raped Higgins.

We all know that some kind of sexual interaction took place, but to call it “rape” is a big leap.

I think Lee’s words were along the lines of, “Higgins could not have consented” (because of her state of drunkenness).

But what exactly constitutes consent? For 99% of sexual intercourse, the consent is given by body language. Often, it is the lack of objection that denotes consent.

The two were seen to be “pashing” and kissing at the nightclub – and we can imagine what was going on in the back seat of the Uber on the ride to Parliament House. These actions denoted consent – to some degree.

Lehrmann clearly had consent – to some degree. That Higgins had accompanied Lehrmann into the parliamentary office, knowing what was on Bruce’s mind, amounted to consent – to some degree.

With some degree of consent, how on earth could the judge have found that he raped her? Why couldn’t he have just found that some sexual interaction occurred?

Slicing off a few corners of this circle in California

Pistol-Packin’ Progressives

You’re familiar with California’s flight club, in which liberals often like to pretend that something other than a desire for sensible governance is motivating their decision to move out of state. Now it seems that some of those who remain are taking prudent steps to ensure their safety in the Golden State, even if it can be challenging to reconcile with leftist dogma.

James Queally writes in the Los Angeles Times about firearms instructor Tom Nguyen, founder of L.A. Progressive Shooters:

“It’s always like a dirty secret. I always feel like, before 2020, being a gun owner in liberal progressive spaces was like being in the closet,” he says. “Like you didn’t want people to know you had a gun because you would be judged or looked at a certain way. Like, is there something wrong with you?”

The highlight appears to be real.

Reading upstream, on many subjects, so I will make a few statements on some. Firstly, and maybe only comment, concerns the infamous “JAB”. I have been stuck in a nursing home for several years, and have almost physical altercations with doctors and staff over this crap. I remain the only person here whom is not jabbed, but that leaves me in a position where I can have no visitors, and remain basically isolated from life. The staff and any visitors still have to do the R>A>T> test every time they enter the place, and still have to wear face nappies, what a load of crap. If I had a way out, I would raise the middle finger, but I do not have that option, so all I can do is continue the fight.

DPP steps up as Chris Dawson insists Lyn phoned after disappearance
By claire harvey

  • 7:40PM May 10, 2024

Christopher Michael Dawson claims Justice Ian Harrison caused a miscarriage of justice by failing to believe his story that his wife Lyn called him to say she “needed time away” from him and her two young daughters.
The appeal, commencing on Monday, will see taxpayers fund both sides of the case, with Dawson to be represented by public defender Belinda Rigg SC and the crown case to be put by NSW Director of Public Prosecutions Sally Dowling SC.
In a fresh appeal point lodged with the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal, Dawson claims Justice Harrison was wrong in 2022 to find Dawson guilty of murdering Lyn and sentenced him to 24 years in prison.
Dawson won’t be eligible for parole unless he reveals what he did with Lyn’s body, thanks to a new piece of legislation named ‘Lyn’s Law’ in honour of the devoted mother, who vanished in 1982.

Lyn’s family have asked that she be known by her maiden name, Lyn Simms.
Dawson claimed in police interviews after her disappearance, and through his lawyers at his murder trial, that on 9 January 1982, while he was working as a lifeguard at Northbridge Baths on Sydney’s north shore, he received a call from Lyn in which she indicated she was leaving him and their two little girls.

No judge in Australia complained about the lockdowns or forced vaccines – betraying literally 800 years of post-Magna Carta jurisprudence (forced vaccination is a form of extra-judicial punishment).

They’re all a bunch of cowards.

Once again, agree with you wholeheartedly. If there was one section of the community that is immune from popular sanctions it is the judiciary. They could have taken on the pseudo-health bureaucracy in the form of the Chief Health Officers and simply compelled them to show their work and the whole lockdowns horror could have been avoided.

I agree, Lerhmann should take it to the high court. He has been decided as guilty simply because the judge didn’t like him.

If I had the money I would back his appeal, not because I like him, as a matter of fact the whole lot involved in this sorry saga are revolting.

I would back him because of all them he was the one totally wronged by the ‘performing to the crowd’ judge.

Oh look, some universities are finding their spine. From The Oz….

Universities cancel October 7 ‘victory’ speaker Sami Hamdi
One Australian university has banned British Muslim speaker Sami Hamdi and another has cancelled his planned speaking engagement.

“I have made the decision that an individual who made unacceptable comments in the days following the terror attacks of 7 October 2023 will not be allowed to speak on campus,” University of Queensland vice-chancellor Deborah Terry told The Weekend Australian.

“This decision was not taken lightly but the safety and wellbeing of our community must be my priority.”

The University of Western Australia also confirmed it had decided to cancel the event after “careful consideration”.

“Consistent with UWA’s code for the protection of speech and academic freedom, UWA affirms the right of all persons to engage in lawful and respectful expression of their views,” a university spokesperson said.

“However, the university also has a duty to foster the overall wellbeing, including psychosocial wellbeing, of all its students and staff.”
