Courier Mail article comments about Pauline v Irwin very much in her favour and now over 600 comments which is a lot for a CM article.

The YouTube clip is only showing 100k views which seems low considering every media outlet carrying the story. Anybody know how to see how often viewed as clips are everywhere?

Meanwhile a King had his trooping of the colour yesterday and Princess Kate looked good.

Princess Kate looked far too thin. She started off from a very low BMI before her illness which was probably contributory to it, imho; I have worried about those thin legs or hers for a while – the legs do tend to show incipient cancer, as I’ve noted in a few friends and celebs over the years. Kate now looks very sticklike. Luckily her facial features have held up well. Seems she is not receiving chemo for a gynie cancer as she hasn’t lost all her hair. One medico opined some form of bowel cancer due to her lack of chemo hair loss. All that said, she is brave and doing well and things seem hopeful right now. She needs to eat up now and get back to the weight she had in her 20’s when she first met William and before the pressure came on to her to be a clothes horse.

In Perf I think it is a flat X dwellings per local government area. It was quite a stink in our (lower) middle class Western Suburbs of Curtin as it was allowing terrace developments and subdivision of corner blocks. Have been some questionable developments through Dalkeith and Claremont. Developers are eyeing off the subregional shopping centres now.

Seems I have missed the original version of the Irwin Qld promotional campaign.

Below from ABC on 1 June. I think it makes Irwin fair game for Pauline’s parody cartoon.

“The Queensland government is tapping into the global popularity of local sensation Bluey with its biggest tourism campaign in a decade, built around the game of “keepy uppy”.

The theme borrows from an episode of the hit show that first aired in 2018, when Bluey and Bingo took turns in keeping a red balloon from touching the ground.

The $9.2 million campaign —”Bluey’s world, for real life” — features images from the state’s 13 tourist hotspots including Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and the Great Barrier Reef.

Robert Irwin, from Australia Zoo, fronts the television advertisement, inviting viewers to “come play”.

The online campaign is expected to reach New Zealand, United States, United Kingdom, Japan and Singapore — markets where the blue heeler family is popular.

The government’s hoping to attract an extra 1.3 million holidaymakers to the state by June 2025 — both from interstate and worldwide — spending an extra $1.7 billion.

She’s right. This is the Mass Formation that brought in the Communists in Russia, and the Nazis in Germany.
The West is now getting it’s own lesson that it is not immune to Mass Hysteria.
Hopefully, those who made it a life’s work to humiliate in perpetuity, Japan, Germany, Russia and Chile, etc, can recognise the same forces that brought them down and adjust their attitudes today.
Perhaps we can avoid the mistakes these nations made, but I doubt it – those who could make a difference here are too busy pointing the finger at others to notice.

The Hamas terrorist group last month stole some $108 million from banks in the Gaza strip, the Israeli military revealed on Wednesday.
Last month, France’s Le Monde reported that armed groups in the Strip with suspected links to Hamas looted $70 million from branches of the Bank of Palestine, a leading Palestinian financial institution.
The funds were taken from the vaults of several branches of the bank across Gaza, said the report, which cited a Bank of Palestine document sent to “certain international partners” detailing the alleged robberies.
In one instance, the largest Bank of Palestine branch was attacked by terrorist commandos who claimed they were sent by “Gaza’s highest authorities,” which Le Monde said was understood to mean Hamas.”

World leaders meet in Switzerland to discuss a Ukraine peace roadmap. Russia is notably absent (AP, 16 Jun, via Lucianne)

OBBÜRGEN, Switzerland (AP) — Dozens of world leaders converged on a Swiss resort Saturday to discuss how to bring peace to war-ravaged Ukraine, though any hopes of a real breakthrough were muted by the absence of Russia. … About half of the roughly 100 delegations were led by heads of state and government. Analysts said turnout would be a key indicator about how much pull Ukraine and its staunch Western backers have with the broader international community.

I have no idea what this gaggle of geese will come up with, but if they tell Russia to return to the 1991 border that would be very interesting. I think it is possible. The problem for Russia in such a circumstance is that quantity has its own quality and having 100 countries say something like that would be quite hard to defy.

It is possible they will call on Ukraine to make a peace based on current front line. But the vibes from Russia and China don’t seem to support that outcome – Putin and Xi have been very active in trying to discredit and denature the Swiss confab, which suggests they have gotten some early vibes from it.

It will be intriguing to see how the circle is squared, or etc.

Can we have a Canberra Pig Book please?

Congressional ‘pig book’ released and look whose noses are in the trough (14 Jun)

Citizens Against Government Waste, a nonprofit, has published its annual “Congressional Pig Book,” and it’s a doozy. Published annually since 1991, the “Congressional Big Book” contains a compilation of all the wasteful “pork-barrel” projects in the federal budget pursued by both Democrats and Republicans. Covering last year’s budget, this year’s book reportedly contains 8,222 earmarks costing a whopping $22.7 billion. Of the legislators who pursued earmarks, Rep. Susan Collins, a Republican, pursued the most.

Oink, oink! I suspect Labor would be quite porcine in a local edition of this august tome.

Opposition leader Peter Dutton accuses government of ‘wrecking the economy’ with its ‘renewables-only’ energy policy (Sky News, 16 Jun)

The Opposition leader has sensationally accused the government of “wrecking” the economy by pursuing what he describes as a “renewables-only” energy policy.

“Sensationally” seems to mean “accurately” these days. It’s quite true of course. The most interesting thing is he seems to have enough sway in the Turnbull/Kean-dominated soft-left Liberal Party to say this.

So another renewable “world first” venture is about to be funded half by the Australian Government and half by the German government. A mere snip at only $40million. The promotional spiel, (joint press release) is cluttered with the usual jargon found in such releases. The idea it seems is that green methanol will be used to power ships and planes. Have ships ever been run on methanol? Could planes? Perhaps someone here more technically minded might explain if this is feasible and economically viable.

“Vast Renewables Limited, a renewable energy company utilising concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) systems, has signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with global energy company Mabanaft to propel Solar Methanol 1 (SM1), a CSP-powered green methanol reference plant, forward.
Located at the Port Augusta Green Energy Hub in South Australia, SM1 will produce 7,500 tonnes of green methanol annually.
Green methanol, a versatile hydrogen derivative, offers a pathway to decarbonise challenging industries such as shipping and aviation, Vast said in a media release.” https://www.australianmanufacturing.com.au/joint-devt-agreement-powers-port-augusta-green-methanol-project/

“Dozens of world leaders converged on Lucerne resort Saturday to discuss how to bring peace to war-ravaged Ukraine“

Diplomacy is a complex artform.

I suspect this meeting of minds in Switzerland is just to get to the next round and so on. The agenda must be pages long by now there are so many details to be considered.

It’s not a simple business for either side since they have to answer to their own people why people are dying and have died.

Statements that sound as trite as, oh they should just return to this or that year’s border, are unlikely to be on anyone’s mind but journalists who want simple words for quick clicks and page impressions. (walkey awards or equivalent)

It’s complicated by the sanctions brought in by the USA (and their colonies in the EU) and now theft of Russia’s foreign reserves. How does BRICS now figure into this? Will the USA accept another international defeat? Will it walk away leaving the dead behind who accomplished nothing but glory for American politicians.

American companies now own a substantial amount of Ukraine farming land, will they abandon that back to Ukraine ownership?

Ultimately, I suggest it is going to end in unconditional surrender by Ukraine, as it’s a war of attrition they cannot win, they don’t have the people and Russia appears able to neutralise any wonder weapons in this theatre.

US special forces are not an army, they are surgical kill teams and most special forces around the world are the same. There’s not enough of them to take on a peer on peer conflict.

The Americans have truly screwed up, and eventually will pull out and leave the usual mess behind.

7500 tonnes of methanol is uncannily close to 10,000,000 litres but anyways

I’m unconvinced and here’s one simple reason …

  • methanol has about 1/2 the specific energy of diesel
  • a big ship can use 5000 litres of diesel per hour
  • you’d need around 2x the methanol to push a ship around so that’s 10,000 liter per hour
  • which gives you 1000 ship-hours

I’d wager that methanol ships would like very much to explode

… which gives you zero ship-hours and coincidentally zero ships

Mass density of methanol is 792 vs ship fuel of 850 – 870 kg/m3. If you need to carry twice the volume of methanol than fuel oil the center of buoyancy and center of gravity will be different which may effect the stability of ship. Assuming that a fuel oil ship is converted to use methanol.

Eugenics has always been an “elite” project, and was an explicit aim of Margaret Sanger, early advocate of “family planning”.

The sainted Ruth Bader Ginsburg, in an incautious moment, also supported the eugenics aspect. IIRC, she hinted that the black population was a target.

It is hardly surprising that the poor standards of integrity and critical thinking in the medical profession during the Covid years has led to a reevaluation by some of the entire profession.

For some years a highly respected Sydney Orthopaedic specialist – Prof. Ian Harris – has been arguing that orthopaedic surgery is over prescribed in this country. He is particularly critical of the number of knee and back surgeries that are unnecessarily performed. I find it amazing that a prominent professional has challenged orthodoxy on this question.

He has written two books in the last few years : “Hippocracy” & “Surgery, the ultimate placebo”.

Cats might like to listen to a podcast with this remarkable physician:

Was a day away from back surgery when my grandson was suddenly taken very ill and I decided I had to cancel the surgery. Sitting in a car was agony, I used to lie on the floor at home because that was the only comfortable position. After three months of discomfort, painkillers etc, the back came good. No further problems. I came so close…
Now I go to the gym regularly to strengthen my back. I would never again contemplate back surgery until I had rested the back for several months. Yet the surgeon was very willing to operate.
Sounds as if Ian Harris might be well worth reading.

Thanks for that personal experience, Charlie. Like many others, I have experienced intermittent lower back pain. My bookshelves, replete with books on back pain, are mute testimony! But, as you describe, the pain has proved transitory, although sometimes lingering for longer than I would like.

At the moment, I am suffering lower back pain of my own, stupid making : bouncing over paddocks of clumped grass on an ATV & lifting containers of water which were too heavy for my stature.

I am holding off coccyx surgery for my severe and displaced coccygeal fracture until I have exhausted all ameliorative and palliative possibilities, for this is spinal surgery and not to be undertaken lightly. It may however be a necessary surgery after trying everything else. I am fast becoming an expert in the epidemiological literature on this. Pain gets you like that. 🙂

The surgeons do complete or sometimes only partial removal of the coccyx below the sacrum, though most recommend complete removal to avoid two surgeries.

I’m in hospital on Monday 24th June for a day to start the palliative treatment under anaesthetic.

Ka-ching, ka-ching, ka-ching, of course.

An excellent site for anyone so afflicted is http://www.coccyx.com which also has many personal accounts of experiences, also links you chase for further epidemiology; Vicki, you might find it help as quite a lot of the comments relate to lower back pain that stems from a bruised coccyx.

Always try a good physiotherapist before rushing to the surgical option. I speak from experience of a painful and constricting shoulder problem which a skilled physio fixed by manipulation and (lots of) exercises on my part; she seemed like a bit of a slave driver at times, but it was worth it.

Very weird hill for her to die on.

Kevin Spacey has been acquitted by two separate juries on two separate continents. One was civil trial in the US, the other was a criminal trial in the UK. Hmm, could it be that Monty is insinuating that because Kevin Spacey is a homosexual then that makes him guilty of the allegations? Is that what he is implying? Gosh, that is a weird hill for a leftist progressive like Monty the pervert apologist to die on.

Haven’t caught up with most of last thread and this one.

Been busy, including yesterday arvo feeding some very wet and hungry birdies. Currawongs first, with Attapuss’s defrosted meat (how I still weep for his loss), but at least the meat-eaters are very grateful for the cat-free verandah now, not just the edges of it. Strange that we haven’t seen any kookas at all, they must be dining elsewhere. Magpies now come occasionally, while butcher birds and minahs also wait for their moment. Even the young and hungry crow lands on the verandah roof with a thump and caws horribly. When the others are fed, I tend to turn away deliberately for a minute, not seeing him as he knows he’s forbidden, and let this crow creep down for a bite, because crows have to live too, though Hairy objects to this viewpoint.

Then it is the lorikeets’ turn. As soon as some spare bread is wet and crumbed for them over the verandah tiles the flock of thirty-five descend in loud joy and gobble frantically away till not a skerrick is left. They are hilarious to watch with their pushing and shoving. The top of the obvious pecking order is one I call Boss Boy, who was beside himself with anger running with his head down to ferociously butt away hangers-on at one end, then having to run and do the same on the other end of the buffet. Serves you right, greedy, I tell him, so the little bruiser hops up onto my arm then to have it out with me too.

Winter is a tough time for native birds around here.

That, for me, is an opportunity!

My project this week is one of the young grey butcherbirds. I’ve had him on my hand three times today! Briefly, in each case, but he’s getting more accepting with every episode.

The currawongs are morphing. Rather than arrive at 7am in hordes, they are now appearing more spread out, and later in the morning. I think that is because the nest construction is well advanced. Maybe they’ve even started nesting! That would be good.

Currawongs are in a terrible existential conflict with channel-billed cuckoos. My currawongs nest as early as they possibly can. That way they can raise currawong kids not cuckoos, since the cuckoos don’t arrive from their migration until at least August.

I also have a new kooka. She/he knows me somehow, and instantly jumped onto my hand. Dunno how that works, maybe he/she was a graduate of the lamented and lately demised Cafe penthouse. All four other kookas are still around, so I don’t know where this one fits into the plan. Kooka politics are what they are.

I’m treading carefully re what treatments I’ll accept, never fear, Vicki. Happily my bone density is really good so these three small bones aren’t crumbling as they can do in some people of my age.

As for pain, it was worse from November last year till February this year, when the fracture I got from the fall on ice in Finland seems to have busted open and dislocated. It wasn’t too painful before that. May explain some of my tetchiness here over that period. 🙂

The pain now scales at about a constant 3 to 4 on the ‘pain scale’ they give you, whereas previously after we returned from Italy in October it got up to 8 or 9 at times. It didn’t cause much trouble in South America in March, as it seemed to ‘resettle’ again, leaving me instead with a fairly painless frequent ‘clicking’ feeling and real pain only when sitting and leaning back. The new swivel desk chair Hairy got me this last week is a great improvement too.

ps The pain wasn’t the best when riding with you on your little open tractor vehicle over your paddocks, the one you blame for some of your tailbone problems, which is maybe why I had to get out half-way and swap Hairy in to sit beside you on it. The original injury in Finland wasn’t helped by going dog-sledding the next day either, bouncing around on a flat board as over-enthusiastic dogs ran over bumps in the track at 30k/h while Hairy, as driver, did his best to brake them down a bit on corners so I wasn’t thrown out with the momentum. Wouldn’t have missed the Finland experience though. What I didn’t enjoy in our travels was the altitude sickness in the Alps.

Located at the Port Augusta Green Energy Hub in South Australia, SM1 will produce 7,500 tonnes of green methanol annually.

Green methanol, a versatile hydrogen derivative, offers a pathway to decarbonise challenging industries such as shipping and aviation, Vast said in a media release.”

Green methanol requires hydrogen produced from renewable electricity plus CO2 removed from the atmosphere – otherwise it is a net contributor of horrible carbins jazzed up as renewable.

It’s not clear from the puff piece how Vast or Mabanaft are going to achieve this at Port Augusta.

Not really, CH3OH, the simplest alcohol. Liquid at normal temperatures and pressures. Not safe to drink but OK as fuel. You just need lots of it (2x petrol). Used in speedway and other racing cars at times in spark ignition engines. Use as diesel substitute has some difficulties but can be done.
I like to think of alcohols as partially burned petrol – see the oxygen atom in the molecule.
Octane rating about 110. Will work in jet engines but again you need lots of it. Jet engines will run on anything that burns from straight hydrogen through Bunker No 2 (heat first to make liquid) and probably even powdered coal.

Meanwhile in Hobart:

Hobart City Council has apologised to a transgender rights critic, conceding it discriminated against her by blocking her from booking a venue, and it is understood will pay her compensation.

Louise Elliot, a councillor and critic of transgender activism, in September 2023 tried unsuccessfully to book the Town Hall ballroom for a “women’s rights and free speech” forum featuring Moira Deeming and Katherine Deves.

Documents later revealed Ms Elliot was intentionally “blocked” from making the booking, and that emails exposing this were withheld from a Right to Information request.

The existence of Ms Elliot’s booking request, made as a private citizen, was leaked by lord mayor Anna Reynolds to a pro-trans activist, who approached the council to express concern.

Ms Elliot lodged a complaint with the state Anti-Discrimination Commissioner, alleging discrimination the basis of political belief or association.

The Australian can now reveal conciliation has resulted in HCC providing significant admissions, apologies and, it is understood, compensation to Ms Elliot.

HCC chief executive Michael Stretton refused to release a copy of the apology and admissions.

Not denying significant compensation would be provided to Ms Elliot, he declined to provide details.

“The matter has been resolved through a conciliation process and the City of Hobart is currently working through these matters,” he said.

“The matter will be publicly communicated in the open section of the July HCC meeting.”

Ms Reynolds declined to comment. Ms Elliot said she was unable to comment on the detail of the settlement of her complaint, but welcomed its resolution.

“I’m pleased that the extent of the discrimination has finally been admitted and owned by the council,” Ms Elliot told The Australian. “I’m optimistic that there will be change; there has to be.

“You can have all the diversity plans, flags and photo opportunities you like, but they’re worthless showboating if words and action don’t align. What happened to me proves that the HCC’s talk of being inclusive and welcoming is selective.

“I tried to book a public venue and I should have been able to hold my event. It was shameful for the council to censor political beliefs, especially when these beliefs are held by millions of Australians. It’s wrong and anti-democratic.”

As revealed previously by The Australian, several senior staff left the HCC in the wake of the scandal, and investigations, including by the state Ombudsman, are ongoing.

The HCC has refused to release an independent report into the behaviour of council staff but The Australian understands the next council meeting will note a report to be provided by Mr Stretton and outline a letter to Ms Elliot. It is understood the letter will apologise and admit that the HCC, in blocking Ms Elliot’s ballroom booking on the basis of political belief or association, discriminated against her in a breach of state law.

As well, it is understood the HCC will concede Ms Elliot was lied to by council staff about the availability of the ballroom and in a subsequent attempt to cover up.

The letter is expected to concede council staff failed to comply with the Right to Information Act by withholding documents about the incident sought by Ms Elliot.

It will concede Ms Elliot’s personal information was shared with others in breach of the state Personal Information Protection Act.

Ms Elliot said she hoped the outcome was a “big step forward” for the HCC but that other formal processes alleging breaches of privacy and RTI laws would continue.

“Unfortunately, it wasn’t just straight-up, blatant discrimination,” Ms Elliot said.

“The depth of the lying, scheming, gaslighting, privacy breaches, and frustration of legal processes has been astounding.”

One would hope it’s the lord mayor who pays the compo, but I bet it’s not going to be….

I think everyone – even sceptics – hope for an epiphany. I know that I did. So I went on a solitary pilgrimage to the Hold Land one Christmas. I found that the Lord has a great sense of humour – funny, but tender. The damn first Intifada broke out while I was there & there was a terrorist attack, as I recall, on Leonardi da Vinci airport in Italy.

So, in spite of the fact that I was in a state of fear, for the most part, a lesson (not quite an epiphany occurred). On my journey along the via della rosa I eventually came upon (I can’t find it in photographs now) a little chapel near the Garden of Gethsemane, which bore the passage from the New Testament on its pediment…”not my will, but Thine”. Said it all.

BTW I am damned if I can find reference to that little temple…will have to go back to Israel…maybe…one day

Oh…and the Lord also has a sense of humour…I took a phial of water from the Jordan river….and a wart on my hand (had been there for years) disappeared within the week! For heavens sake!

God doesn’t allow evil to flourish – he gives us the instructions, it’s up to us to follow them or not.
That’s the problem with free will – it means we have to accept our own failings and refusal to follow the instructions, when it’s easier to blame someone else.

According to Farrell, the barely literate Albanese trade minister, the visit by Li is an opportunity to test whether Dutton will support the “stable, mutually beneficial relationship with China based upon mutual respect or will he return to the old failed antagonism promoted by the LNP that has undermined the interests of our primary producers”.

There is nothing rational that can be said.

One lady is a long time teacher. Union member and the sort who a few years ago would vote Labor no matter what. Loved the Pauline cartoon and now says done with state and Federal Labor. Says Albanese too far left. Particularly has problems with Education Qld as she teaches special needs kids. The school where she works is removing the surrounding fence which was designed to ensure some of the special needs kids don’t leave the school grounds. They have also been told to pretty much accept scratching as part of the job and not to do anything about it. Not only will she not vote Labor she is now a Pauline fan to the extent of buying her ON gin/rum and going to vote ON.

Seems Pauline and Ashby will be inviting Irwin to dinner and are planning to send him some ON booze. Not likely he would accept.

Has turned into a massive media win for ON and Irwin on the losing side PR wise.

It was an odd choice of venue, but I accepted it, perhaps the invitation was meant ironically, a joke, something to spice up an evening, although she would have had no idea about my politics at that point.
I’ve been single now for quite a while and women are so bold and empowered these days, sometimes I get asked out on dates. Women now seem far less shy than I am; this invitation came while standing in a coffee queue.
I was invited to an event at the Sydney Writer’s Festival. I’ve never attended any of these festivals before, as Gerard Henderson’s columns have over the years convinced me that they are get togethers of the self-declared morally pure, left-wing, homogenous, and conservative free zones.
Yet, here it was, an email ticket to attend a discussion of her new book, I Don’t by author Clementine Ford – her case against marriage. The talk was held at a place called the Carriageworks in Eveleigh, the closest rail station is Redfern.
Throughout Ford’s presentation, which was in the form of responses to a moderator’s questions, I took notes on my phone. I didn’t know if I could get a transcript afterwards and suspected her comments would be good material for a Flat White article at some point.
The following night at the same venue, ABC political correspondent Laura Tingle called Australians ‘racist’ which became a bit of an issue for the board of the taxpayer-funded ABC.
It turned out my inclination was good, Ford’s comments were memorable.
To my recollection, she seemed to be arguing this interesting idea that a society’s children should be reared in all-female communities, where the women would support each other and dispense with men. I don’t recall her explaining the mechanics of how it was the women got pregnant; I guess she envisions an industrial scale sperm harvesting and IVF infrastructure. At least that was my interpretation of her talk, but I’ve not read her book where it is probably set out in detail.
To give you some sense of the audience’s, the main crowd excitement arose whenever Ford’s disparagement of men broke from vague civility into straight out profanity.
After the talk finished, a coterie of women rushed and surrounded Ford near the stage; they were like members of the Collingwood women’s AFL team, huddled and scrapping after the centre bounce, all kitted out in black and white, except the pattern wasn’t vertical stripes, rather, the jersey pattern was that of radical chic Palestinian keffiyeh.
My date and I then got pizza nearby; the restaurant didn’t have any standard beers like Peroni or VB, and I was forced to drink a bottle that had a picture of Bob Hawke’s head on the label. When I went to pay the bill, the waitress seemed baffled and uncertain on how to accept my offer of a tip. She called over the chef to work out how a 15 per cent tip could be configured on the EFTPOS terminal.
Then I remembered I was in Surry Hills, where the profound sensitivity to injustice and the sheer goodness of its locals doesn’t it seem extend to something as crass as giving a waitress a tip.
It was during the pizza meal that red flags started going up. There was an Aboriginal dot painting on the back wall, and my date commented on how stunning it was.
I told her that canvas dot paintings emerged in the 1970s in an art class held by a whitefella, well after Captain Cook had arrived. And that the original and authentic Aboriginal drawings were mostly done in sand and dirt, so they’ve not survived rain and wind.
Some, thankfully, were etched into rock, such as that which can be seen at Berry Island Reserve near Wollstonecraft.
She took up my reference to Captain Cook and launched into him. She described him as a ‘horrible’ man and that all Australian land was First Nation’s land. She’d voted ‘No’ in the referendum, because Albo’s proposal hadn’t gone far enough.
She had crossed a line with me, yet that old male weakness kicked in. I told myself that opposites attract, and that girlfriends in full agreement on everything are boring.
There was also this country song I remembered, written by singer Sunny Sweeny, about two politically opposite neighbours who befriended through a love of country music. This is one of the verses, usually sung in duet:

“I’ll ignore all your hippie bumper stickers
And that Ronald Reagan poster on your wall
It’s true that we’ve got nothing in common
But a love of country music conquers all.”

Of course, these rationalisations were not the workings of a truth-seeking clinical mind, but something a lot baser.
She was at least a decade younger than me and at least two rungs higher on the physical appeal ladder. I overlooked her Captain Cook comment for the same reason men for centuries have defied their better judgement and destroyed their lives.
Even so, the evening was increasing strained. Her parents had migrated to Australia from Chile and she and her parents hated Margaret Thatcher for keeping ‘evil’ Pinochet in power who, she said, had Chilean communists thrown into the ocean out of military helicopters. She said Western governments had a lot to answer for, although I noted she stopped short of invoking intergenerational trauma.
Rather nastily, I asked her why her family moved to a Western country if its values were so appalling and had they ever considered moving back to Chile. Her response was infantile, she said she wanted to destroy the West from the inside.
At that, I asked her to stop the car, and got out. It is of course embarrassing for me to admit I had something of a teenage hissy fit. But there you have it.
When we spoke some days later, she conceded being ‘shitty’ and apologised for deliberately baiting me.
Incredibly she even attributed it to ‘that time of the month’. She then asked me to apologise for storming out of the car which I refused to do; obstinance is a cherished right of my white male privilege.
I should have taken Henderson’s perennial advice, and just not gone to the Sydney Writer’s Festival. And, by the way, that’s also the end of Woke women for me. The results are in.

Best to keep off politics about South America’s past until you are better friends. Other politics, go for it. Girls these days can enjoy a bit of anti-woke from an old white guy who is neither too old nor too uninteresting to bother with compared to all the soy boys she’s meeting. She’s obviously attracted to you and prepared to back down a bit.

Give it another try. Tell her you never apologise, it’s against your white privilege principles, but you won’t do it again, because in her case you can learn to compromise because she is so alluring to you. She’ll be yours in a heartbeat, you old tiger.

Like Chemical Ali, Joe Hildebrand is now the Albanese government’s official spokesman on Australian pay TV.

He might as well be working for Elbow’s sponsor, Emperor Xi of China.

It’s disappointing to me that Hildebrand hasn’t had the balls to officially announce his resignation from the Australian journalism business as he transitions to a government propaganda hack.

I enjoy watching Liz Storer have a go at him on The Late Debate on Sky at 10pm. He gets so defensive. She sometimes seems a bit sweet on him, in a reforming sort of way. In some ways, being on that show has forced him to revise some of his thinking and give way to theirs.

Then I remembered I was in Surry Hills

Back when I lived there (for about seven years) it was becoming more “sound” by the minute. Used to buy my drugs from the Clock, which ended up shut for renovations from 1997 until the start of the Woild Cup in ’98.

The Strawberry Hills Hotel was my first introduction to the place, watching among others, the Moffs.

I just work there nowadays. It’s even more sound – a mixture of hipsters, aged collectivist dinobores and taut young womanages, much as it’s always been.

Abdul’s Restaurant used to be good, when the brothers worked there. I think grandkids run it today and a big boy who seems eternally grumpy.

Great shawarma though, all their takeaway was good, the sit down food was ordinary. Unless you just got deconstructed shawarma of course.

Used to be part of Redfern, then became Strawberry Hills.

Meanwhile in Hobart:

Hobart City Council has apologised to a transgender rights critic, conceding it discriminated against her by blocking her from booking a venue, and it is understood will pay her compensation

The only reason she had a win was that someone within council leaked the emails which were circulated to deliberate block her booking of the town hall, citing safety yada, yada as excuses.
Without the leaks, the trannie cheer-squad would have simply stuck to their story and she wouldn’t have had a case.

It’s just as bad falling for trannies simply because they support you on this or that issue.

Firstly, he isn’t a trannie.
He is a flamboyant dresser, true, but clearly describes himself as a gay man.
And who “fell for him”? If someone points out obvious hypocrisy, does it matter if they don’t wear chinos and a navy blue jacket?

LOL this proves it. Now I’m sure they’re the de facto government of Palestine.

In one instance, the largest Bank of Palestine branch was attacked by terrorist commandos who claimed they were sent by “Gaza’s highest authorities,” which Le Monde said was understood to mean Hamas.”

I can’t even make a joke about it without the joke becoming true just a few sentences later.

“To turn the saying around, man does not live by prayer alone.
Why not reward the cloth for their work?”
They are rewarded though some chose to take vows of poverty.
Cardinal Pell had some super but I’m sure mentioned he had exhausted it paying for his legal expenses which were also paid for by donors, no doubt they ran into milliond of dollars.
It is an an unfortunate that when the state loses egregious criminal cases like this one they aren’t liable for the defendants costs.

Lady MAGA is not a trannie, he’s a conservative gay. He can’t help it that his dress sense has over dosed on psychedelics. Conservative gays literally know which side of their arse the butter is on. They know without a stable Western society they’re rooted. The conservative gays know they’re toast if the muzzies or the commies take over. Conservative gays know the left are the useful idiots of the muzzies and commies. Alternatively leftie gays like the bloated lezzos Lady MAGA was interviewing are brain dead.

Men in women’s clothing are transvestites or what are often called trannies.

No, that’s wrong: trannies are blokes who believe they’re women: flamboyant gay men who dress like duluxed chickens still know they’re men.

David Sachs & Chamath Palihapitiya hosted the Trump fund raiser in California last week.
Chamath participating is interesting as he’s a billionaire who’s previously been a DNC donor of size.

From the 8:48 mark they talk for 15mins about it.

Funniest bit, Trump looked a Chamath’s wife & then said to Chamath:

On the Irwin- Hanson business, a friend reminded me that attempts to sue over cartoons don’t have a great success rate. Patrick Cook took a wonderful shot at the (allegedly) great Harry Seidler’s modernist and functionalist architecture in his ‘Harry Seidler Retirement Park’ cartoon:

comment image

(The cartoon showed residents standing in rectangular concrete boxes with fook shovelled into their mouths through a hatch and waste shovelled out through a hatch on the other side.)

An outraged Seidler sued and lost: the judge ruled that the cartoon was fair critical comment.

The March of Dimes Syndrome

Why have activists declared a “national state of emergency” for LGBT people? Why was the election of the first black president followed by the Black Lives Matter movement? Why, as radical prejudice declined, was there a rise in the number of “hate groups”? Why, as sexual violence declined in America, did academics and the #MeToo movement discover an “epidemic of sexual assault”?

The better things get, the more desperately activists struggle to stay in business.

For career activists, success is a threat. They can never declare mission accomplished.
