Interesting about the IDF bombing of the hezbollocks headlessquarters. I think they said its reported 5 dead, 7 wounded from a large explosion that destroyed a 3 story building and damaged an area 500 metres around it. Managed to kill the top brass but the bwave freedom fighters survived. This program brought to you by Comical Ali. No doubt the 7 survivor’s whereabouts have been checked by the ABC factchecking branch at Monash. Ah yes, here’s one of them now and over here we have another bit, looks like a head. Wonder if it gives their Iranian backers pause for thought. I couldn’t be more pleased with the IDF if I were Israeli myself. Nobody can’t be got to. Then again not everyone is D J Trump.

Maybe it is partly fondness, maybe not, but among all of Trumps mountain goat-like rhetoric – capering, impossibly nimble, yet sure-footed – he has pearls like what the ad has him say about ‘impossible’ and about ‘outsiders’ (a subtle reference to himself politically but also a reference to so many of his base who have been pushed to the outside – and likely outnumber the insiders). I won’t post the quotes because they are so much more vivid in their context.
But anyway, it may be mere fondness on my part, to me those nuggets of profundity from Trump are far more resonant than those from Obama – the Obama whose reputedly mellifluous delivery sent tingles down Andrew Sullivan’s leg (not a smart thing for someone whose job has him standing around electrical cables).
Obama’s rhetoric, to me, always seemed contrived. Like someone who had been shown a list of inspirational phrases, determined what they looked like, but had never been inspired themselves, so when they go to create them they are stillborn: fully formed but lifeless. “The day the seas ceased to rise and the planet begin to heal.” A lofty enough turn of phrase but unanchored to the Earth where people live. And sure enough the people who heard this came out believing Obama was going to put free petrol in their cars. Even his audience listened without the words speaking to them.
Trump, on the other hand, does his rallies by the seat of his pants. They are actually a dialogue between him and an audience of tens of thousands of people. No, not even a dialogue. Something more intimate, filled with in-jokes, comical mimicry, rib-nudging, and serious exposition.
Obama gave progressive beatitudes from the mount. It was no accident that photographers made a point of framing photos so blurred lighting or images of official seals would look like halos.
But when Trump goes for inspiring messages, like that ad, it reverberates. Everyone can take those messages – about impossibility and the feeling of being an outsider, and work it into their lives, to see themselves in a new light.
Good shit.
But that is the thing: Trump is the real deal. The Dims are all show. Explains why they are so keen to recruit the company of Hollywood.

He mentioned Biden’s name once. He sheeted the woes back to the Administration…smart because Biden most likely won’t be running. Everyone is thus tarred with failure.
He touched on the election rigging, the lawfare, the utter incompetence coupled with malice against the American people. No one was spared. No shoutyness, but plenty of emotion, especially as he spoke about the men killed and injured on Saturday.

An ex of mine have reconnected since 7 October. He’s now retired but as he’s grown older he’s become more leftwing, ridiculously so. He was never like that when we were in a relationship a long time ago. People are supposed to become more conservative as they get older….but not him! He admitted to me he voted for a Teal in his very well off seat. As you can imagine, I was very unimpressed by this revelation and I said to him that he was lucky, unlike most ordinary Australians, that he can afford the folly of voting for a Teal! I’ve asked him why the so called ‘climate crisis’ hasn’t stopped his overseas skiing trips. I’ve told him to stop watching their ABC, he only watches and listens to the ABC! He’s always bewildered and I suspect rather charmed by my frankness….LOL.
But his biggest fault is that he suffers from serious deranged and unhinged Trump Derangement Syndrome. On Sunday he visited my mother, I was there, and he was gobsmacked by our love for the Donald. I could see him wincing. As I said to him on Sunday, ‘you have Trump Derangement Syndrome whereas I have Trump Delirious Syndrome’. He laughed. My mother adores him, despite his faults, always has.
Anyway, he rang me today to wish me a Shabbat Shalom and I told him about the drone attack in Israel, which is very worrying, it’s clear Iran is revving up attacks on Israel (and Jews) prior to the US election and a probable Trump win. We talked about Israel and I then told him about how wonderful Donald Trump is, and how inspiring the RNC has been, particularly seeing Omer Neutra’ parents speak at the convention. Well, he clearly didn’t like what he was hearing and he said…’gotta go’ and he then abruptly hung up on me!

Two hours later he texted me to say…’I can’t stand the GOP, let’s not talk about American politics’.
I will not respond.

It’s just not fair. All I ask is that people who are paid better than me be better than me. Yet the more people are paid in government, the less competent they are.
The golden rule of WHS is that people are the weakest link. That they are even meeting is admission that they have failed. They won’t succeed, but they ll take credit for its resolution regardless. Anyone who innovates should quietly sell it, other wise your boss or their boss or their boss will take credit for it.
Never reward bad behaviour.
Five & a half days since the assassination attempt & I’ve had the first comment made by a patron:
By a Grey Nomad frightbat.
Triggered by Trump’s image on the TV, she commented that she wished he’d been shot & killed.
This was at lunch today. She must be still around town, as she came back for dinner tonight. (My tucker is pretty good)
Tonight she needed no picture to prompt her, & launched into an unsolicited rant to the kitchen staff (who were quite shocked, politics rarely gets a mention in a pub).
Uninvited, she continued in a most unwelcome manner to regale the chefs in graphic detail on how wonderful it would have been had his skull been blown apart by the bullet, in the manner of a watermelon hit by a high velocity projectile.
(This is not normal speech, let alone in a country pub – in fact it is downright disturbing)
She looks the part, hawk faced, likely never smiled, part of a larger group who’re all from Canberra. Her husband looked like a retired mid-to-senior public servant, actually the whole group had that useless look some public servants have. (For those who don’t know what I mean, picture Kevin Rudd & Gillian Triggs)
Not one local or regular has mentioned the attempt on Trump’s life – though some must know of it.
Likewise nobody has mentioned the CFMEU fiasco – this would be a combination of (a) not yet having heard of it, (b) not understanding what the problem is supposed to be, & (c) doesn’t affect the footy results or this week’s discretionary spending in their pay packet – thus have no interest in it.
Treaty call by First Peoples Assembly of Victoria to seek minister’s powersTricia Rivera
6 minutes ago

The organisation tasked with negotiating a statewide treaty for Victoria wants the powers of the state’s First Peoples Minister to be handed to an elected Indigenous representative and key recommendations from a truth-telling body to be implemented.
First Peoples Assembly of Victoria co-chair Rueben Berg said some of the likely priorities of a treaty would be to ensure decisions impacting Indigenous people will be made by them, to expand the role and responsibility of the assembly to provide advice and hold government to account, to enact Yoorrook Justice Commission recommendations and to celebrate Aboriginal language and culture.
In a keynote speech to the Castan Centre Human Rights law conference, Mr Berg said treaty negotiations would begin in November and he hoped the first agreement would be struck by April.
He flagged that traditional owners will also negotiate local deals and that there was an intention to “have multiple treaties across a significant time period”.
“We think that when there are decisions being made by government that are directly about First Peoples, they shouldn’t be made by an elected group of non-Aboriginal people up in Spring Street. Those decisions should be made by an elected group of First Peoples chosen by their community,” Mr Berg said on Friday.
“We’re looking to see what those decision-making powers are and what is the structure that needs to exist to enable First Peoples to make decisions instead of the government.
“At the moment we do have a Minister for First Peoples (Natalie Hutchins) … she shouldn’t have that role, all her powers should come across to a future assembly, that’s what we’re striving for.”
Asked by an audience member why the state government had not implemented solutions to barriers faced by First Peoples, Mr Berg said red tape made it “almost impossible”.
“These local communities … know what the solutions are, know how to achieve it, but can’t disentangle that from the web of government,” he said.
“We see this process of treaty, through the establishment of this future assembly, to be able to short-circuit all of that and say we’ll take on the risk.
Why do I see a legal dogfight, of monumental proportions on the horizon. Is someone who may have had an Aboriginal great grandparent one of the “First Nations?”
Happened to me when young and innocent, such a simple innovation, I was wondering why nobody thought of it.
Unfortunately I was wondering aloud where my foreman could hear it, within two weeks and before I could propose it, not knowing the channels, it was implemented and he got a big bonus, saved about ten jobs for the company, no they were not sacked, just redeployed elsewhere.

Defence Department compensation plan for Afghan killingsRhiannon Down
36 minutes ago
Entire villages in Afghanistan could benefit from a scheme to compensate victims of unlawful killings and abuse by Australian special forces while on deployment, with the Chief of Defence granted decision-making power.
The day before they came into effect on Friday, Defence Minister Richard Marles quietly released the regulations, which provide a pathway for families of the 39 Afghans killed by Australian Defence Force personnel and other victims who suffered “unlawful assault or property damage” to receive financial payouts and other forms of compensation.
Documents outlining the long-anticipated response to the inquiry into Australian Defence Force war crimes in Afghanistan, released almost four years ago, say individuals who are “reasonably likely” to be the relatives of wrongfully killed Afghans and other victims would be eligible for a payout, but did not specify a dollar figure. Those seeking compensation would also have to be “reasonably likely” not to be a member of a terrorist organisation or subject to sanctions.
In documents outlining the functioning of the scheme, the Albanese government acknowledged the precarious security situation in Afghanistan, complexities arising from the “broad” definition of family, and risk that victims receiving financial compensation could become “targets for criminal organisations or the Taliban”. Security experts and the Greens have raised conflict-of-interest concerns about placing the nation’s highest-ranking military figure in a decision-making position on compensation claims for misconduct committed by his own personnel, rather than an independent arbitrator.
Under the regulations, Chief of Defence Force Admiral David Johnston would refer individuals to a newly created Afghanistan Inquiry Compensation Advocate, who would then make their recommendation on the outcome to the top-ranked military official.
Documents explaining the functions of the scheme said that the CDF, who would also be responsible for deciding if he will accept the advice concerning the claim or reject it, would be “best placed to source and verify information”.
The scheme brings the government closer to responding to the 15 recommendations set out in former judge Paul Brereton’s November 2020 report into ADF war crimes committed after the US-led invasion of Afghanistan, with a spokeswoman for Mr Marles saying the government was committed to implementing the Defence-designed compensation scheme.
“The Deputy Prime Minister has been clear about the Albanese government’s commitment to implement the recommendations of the Brereton Report to the fullest possible extent, including establishing a pathway for compensation,” she said.
“The Deputy Prime Minister, in his capacity as Minister for Defence, directed Defence to design a scheme in consultation with relevant agencies. The establishment of the Afghanistan inquiry compensation scheme represents a significant step forward in closing out these recommendations.”
“reasonably likely” Words fail me, they honestly vooking do.
