Khelif was abruptly disqualified from the 2023 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships. IBA president Umar Kremlev said the DNA test results of Khelif “proved they had XY chromosomes.” Khelif tried to appeal these findings but later withdrew it.

Kelif has male chromosomes.

Testosterone levels can be artificially fiddled with, chromosomes can’t.

However, the International Olympic Committee uses a different rule set and cleared Khelif to compete at the Paris Olympics.

Obviously a rule set that doesn’t take chromosomes, the single most determinative factor, into account.

m0nty
m0nty
August 2, 2024 10:19 am

So it turns out that Khelif might not even have high testosterone levels. That claim and the XY chromosome claim were made by the discredited and disgraced head of the IBA, a Russian stooge who DQed Khalifa after she defeated a Russian fighter, and has called the head of the IOC a “sodomite”. The IOC has decertified the IBA after a string of corruption scandals.

Yet another non-story where you lot are on the side of the worst people.

PARIS — An outcry erupted at the Paris Olympics around the presence of two female boxers who were disqualified by the International Boxing Association at last year’s world championships in New Delhi for what the organization said at the time was a failure “to meet eligibility rules.”

IBA President Umar Kremlev told the Russian news agency Tass last year the disqualifications were because “it was proven they have XY chromosomes.”

The issue, which had been simmering for a few days around the Games, blew up Thursday after one of the two women, Algeria’s Imane Khelif, won her opening bout in Villepinte. Her opponent, Angela Carini, quit less than a minute into the 66-kg (145.5-pound) round-of-16 bout following a powerful punch to her nose.

It remains unclear what standards Khelif and Lin Yu Ting of Taiwan failed last year to lead to the disqualifications.

The IOC, which is overseeing the boxing competition in Paris, does not test for gender, and there never has been evidence that either Khelif or Lin had XY chromosomes or elevated levels of testosterone. They have competed for years, including at the Tokyo Olympics and several world championships.

In his comments to Tass in 2023, Kremlev said two boxers were given DNA tests. In the minutes of the IBA’s board of director’s meeting held two days after the women were disqualified, George A. Yerolimpos, the organization’s CEO and secretary general at the time, told the attendees the women had failed tests conducted by an independent laboratory. He also told the meeting’s attendees that both women had failed a different test, conducted by a different laboratory, at the previous year’s world championships in Istanbul, but that the results had come too late for the fighters to be disqualified.

The meeting’s minutes do not say what kind of test had been administered or the name of the laboratory. Yerolimpos told the meeting that he “closely followed” the women’s testing as soon as they arrived in India.

In a statement this week, the IBA said the women did not “undergo a testosterone examination” but “a separate and recognized test.” The statement added that the test and results are “confidential.”

In a statement issued Thursday evening, the IOC said: “The current aggression against these two athletes is based entirely on this arbitrary decision, which was taken without any proper procedure — especially considering that these athletes had been competing in top-level competition for many years. Such an approach is contrary to good governance.”

Throughout the week, IOC officials have said they had no reason to keep either boxer from the Olympics. Several times, IOC spokesman Mark Adams has cautioned that the controversy involves “real people” and stressed that “this is not a transgender issue” in the face of attacks from critics of transgender athletes.

A person with knowledge of last year’s disqualifications from worlds but not authorized to speak publicly called Khelif and Lin’s banishments “classic IBA disinformation.”

Three people familiar with the details of the women’s case pointed out that the disqualifications came three days after Khelif defeated Russian Azalia Amineva and a day after she won her semifinal bout in the 63-66-kg (139-145.5-pound) category.

Fed up by a history of judging and bribery scandals involving the IBA even before Kremlev was first elected as the organization’s president in 2020, the IOC took control of Olympic boxing at the Tokyo Games. It became suspicious when Kremlev spent heavily on marketing himself, lined up only one sponsor — Russian energy company Gazprom — and battled with Olympic leaders. The IOC took control of the boxing competition at the Paris Games as well, and it left the sport off the program for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Three months after Lin and Khelif were disqualified, the IOC decertified the IBA. Another organization, World Boxing, supported by the United States, the Netherlands and several other Western countries, has emerged as a potential replacement for the IBA. In the 14 months since, relations between the IOC and IBA have deteriorated further.

On Wednesday, Kremlev posted a video on X, criticizing the Paris Games Opening Ceremonies and calling IOC President Thomas Bach “a chief sodomite.”

Every four years, athletes gather at the Olympics to test the limits of human potential. But those limits might be closer than you think. Host Ava Wallace is joined in Paris by two Post reporters who analyzed the past, present and future of world records.

Despite the suspect credibility of last year’s disqualifications and the fact that neither boxer is transgender, several high-profile critics of transgender athlete issues seized on the results of the fight as well as comments made by Carini, who told reporters: “It could be the match of my life, but in that moment, I had to safeguard my life, too.”

Within an hour of the fight, social media was alive with posts blasting Khelif and Lin as well as the IOC. In comments to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said the fight was unfair, baselessly citing Khelif’s testosterone levels.

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova said on X: “This is all on [the] IOC and those in power who make the rules. It’s a travesty and makes a mockery of all Olympic sports.”

Putting money into 1.4 Billion Chinese pockets is gonna make inflation that much harder to tame for CB’s.

Shanghai Macro Strategist

@ShanghaiMacro

Huang Yiping, a member of the PBoC’s monetary policy committee, just made a bold statement. Although this committee is an advisory and not a decision-making body, his comment was still significant:

“If the Chinese economy falls into the trap of low inflation, the consequences will be severe. Therefore, we should set a hard target of 2-3% CPI growth and shift our policy preference from investment to consumption. We should confidently adopt fiscal measures to support consumption, such as allowing migrant workers to settle in cities (get Hukou) and directly sending money to households.”

Despite the growing support in China for bold fiscal measures to boost consumption, those with real decision-making power have clearly remained hesitant to embrace unconventional measures.

The suspect in the Southport stabbing attack can been named for the first time.

And what is starmer’s and the left’s concern after letting these grubs in?

  • PM Sir Keir Starmer denounces the actions of “a gang of thugs” who took part in a riot in Southport and says a new “national capability” will be established to tackle violent disorder
  • Tuesday’s riot followed a vigil for the victims Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine.

These are the same creeps who have terrorised Tommy Robinson and allowed the muzze/palli riots to go unchecked.

Firstly well done to the Italian boxer lady for bringing worldwide attention to the male in women’s sports issue.
I note The Australian and Courier Mail not allowing comments under their articles on this. A clear sign too sensitive and not willing to allow readers a say.
It seems the IOC criteria for being able participate in Olympic women’s boxing is having a passport that says your are female.
Qld recently decided to allow people to identify how they like and even have a new birth certificate issued. No doubt same applies to their passports. So I guess that means eligible to participate in women’s boxing. Oh wait, Brisbane holding Olympics in 8 years. Could be interesting.
This has all come about due to a small vocal minority and pathetically weak and gutless politicians who gave into wokeness.
What a mess.

Wait for the racial stereotyping. When Franca Arena started campaigning about the rampant pederasty in gay circles in Sydney, she not only lost her Labor preselection (no surprise) but attracted a sneering campaign from the gay lobby: ‘just an emotional big-breasted Italian mamma’. It’s dead simple to clear up the question of Kelif’s sex.
Release the test results.

Privacy concerns? Test results have been released to prove qualifications on many occasions (dopers/sex determination) in the past. He should have worried about that before he walked onto the international stage claiming he was something he quite obviously is not.

But the Olympic Committee hasn’t/won’t release the results.
Why? How about because they will show Y chromosomes?

It is amazing how the geography of Switzerland can change in just two hours.

We went from the rugged, rocky Matterhorn region (29 over 4000ft that you can eyeball there) – pine trees, beautiful tiny wildflowers, scree, waterfalls – to the productive orchard/grape/crop farming valleys which have the most powerful tumultuous rivers I’ve ever seen.

Then onto the lakes (now at Montreux on Lake Lucern again – opposite end to Geneva) with a warm “sub-tropical” climate zone growing small banana palms, hibiscus and I even saw a frangipani.

Rise of Kamala Harris solidifies Dems’ full embrace as the party of ‘preachy females,’ scolding shrews (1 Aug)
New York Post, by Miranda Devine

With the ascension of Saint Kamala, we are now watching the Mean Girl rebranding of the Democratic Party. It has to be the biggest miscalculation in political history. As polls show America’s young men are lurching rightward at a rapid pace, the Democratic brand has finally evolved into the party of scolding shrews, nagging Karens and “preachy females,” as Dem dinosaur James Carville calls them. Its image is tied to a type of unserious, self-involved, neurotic, dogmatic Dem-fem who insists on telling you her pronouns and whose highest goal is abortion on demand right up until the moment of birth.

After the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, I paraphrased an Obama comment and attributed it to Muntsac. I wrote, “if I had a son, he would look like Thomas Crooks”.
Lo and behold, the Gimp bit, he ordered me to never mention his son as, apparently he has one. Poor little boy.

Upthread, Lizzie had mildly chided Muntsac about the treatment of women and girls and stated she hoped, if he had a girl child, that he would treat her better than they way women and girls have been treated collectively in the media, and politically. Treatment which the Gimp whole heartedly subscribes to, I will add.

Now we know the Gimp has two children. Has stated one is male, so one would naturally assume the other is female. He did not answer Lizzie’s plea for understanding and better treatment of the female sex. Not a peep.

This leads one down the path of realising what most of us here have long suspected/believed, the Gimp really does despise female humans. Even his own.

Michael Phelps is literally referred to as a freak of nature because of his disproportionate wingspan, double jointed ankles, lung capacity twice that of an average human, body that produces half the lactic acid of a typical athlete, and he is rightly celebrated for being the greatest male swimmer in history.”

None of which changes the fact that an XY has higher bone density, more muscle mass, more fast-twitch muscle fibre, a higher centre of gravity and higher grip stregth than an XX, to name a few.
These are not just “edge cases” – in statistical terms, the highest grip strength of an XX is about the average grip strength of an XY, for example.
XX an XY have different bodies – one is better at some things, the other is better at others. I am NOT saying one is superior to the other, except in certain specific areas where they have a clear physical advantage. For instance, an XY can jump higher than an XX can because of the physical higher centre of gravity. Of course, the XY is more stable because of the lower centre of gravity.

I find it interesting that at least in terms of sporting competitions, it is the XY imitating the XX that wins more often than not, while the XX that imitates the XY rarely does so. That tells you a lot right there.

I am happy to call you by your preferred pronouns if you ask nicely, but am unlikely to if you should be so crass as to think you can “demand” it. And just because you decide to wear a dress, have surgery and take drugs to change your appearance, it doesn’t mean you are “fairly” competing again those you are trying to imitate.

Trump must surely be among the most vilified of contemporary political figures. James Allan has written a fair defence of him in this week’s Australian Spectator. Whatever one thinks of Trump, one should ponder the remark of Albert Einstein:

“ Those who have the privilege to know, have the duty to act”.

I think many of us may perceive the significance of current events, but rarely put those evaluations on the line. Trump has done this in spades.

Endurance, originally named Polaris, was built in 1912 in Norway for Arctic tourist cruises.

It was a wooden three-masted barquentine with a coal-fired steam engine of 350 horsepower, capable of speeds up to 10.2 knots.
The ship was 144 feet long and 25 feet wide, with a tonnage of 300 tons.
The foremast was square-rigged while the mainmast and mizzenmast were fore-and-aft rigged.

Endurance was one of the strongest wooden ships ever built, designed to withstand the harsh conditions of polar regions.
Ernest Shackleton purchased the ship in 1914 for his Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition and renamed it Endurance after his family motto, “By endurance we conquer.” The ship set sail for Antarctica from Plymouth in August 1914.

Endurance became trapped in the Weddell Sea by dense pack ice in January 1915. The ship was beset by ice and drifted for months before the pressure of the ice began to crush it. In October 1915, the crew abandoned the ship, and by November, Endurance had sunk, leaving the crew stranded on the ice.

Shackleton and his men camped on the ice and later made an incredible journey in lifeboats to reach Elephant Island. Shackleton and a small party then sailed over 800 miles in a lifeboat to South Georgia to seek rescue. All members of the expedition were eventually rescued without loss of life.

The story of Endurance is one of the most remarkable tales of survival and endurance in the history of exploration.

Reynolds’ courtroom showdown with Higgins kicks offPaul Garvey

The courtroom showdown between Senator Linda Reynolds and her former staffer Brittany Higgins is finally here, despite the exhortations of multiple Supreme Court justices who repeatedly urged the pair to resolve their issues without a trial.

Courtroom 42 of the David Malcolm Justice Centre in the Perth CBD will be the latest venue for a legal examination stemming from Bruce Lehrmann’s rape of Ms Higgins on a couch in Senator Reynolds’ Parliament House office.

While the previous courtroom battles – the criminal prosecution of Mr Lehrmann, which ended in a mistrial after juror misconduct, and the defamation action by Mr Lehrmann against Network 10, in which Federal Court Justice Michael Lee found that on the balance of probabilities Mr Lehrmann did rape Ms Higgins – have focused on whether the rape actually occurred, this trial will focus on the fallout.

In particular, Senator Reynolds is arguing that her former staffer and her now-husband David Shiraz defamed her in a series of social media posts made in the months and years after Ms Higgins’ rape.

Senator Reynolds’ statement of claim argues that the posts were published as part of a plan by Ms Higgins and Mr Sharaz to use the allegations that Senator Reynolds had been involved in a political cover-up as a weapon to inflict immediate political damage on her.

Anthony Albanese’s closest confidantes, Katy Gallagher and Penny Wong, were drip-fed false information by Ms Higgins and Mr Sharaz as part of a larger plan to destroy Senator Reynolds’ career and take down the Morrison government, the senator alleged.

Mr Sharaz also organised meetings between Ms Higgins and Labor MPs to discuss her rape allegations, the documents say, including then opposition leader Mr Albanese and Tanya Plibersek, as well as former Liberal prime minister Malcolm Turnbull and former Labor prime minister Kevin Rudd.

Ms Higgins in her filed defence “denies the allegations”, and claims in her amended defence that the senator “mishandled the aftermath of the incident” and failed to support her.

Senator Reynolds is also suing Mr Sharaz for defamation, although he has said he will not contest the matter due to a lack of resources.

Mr Lehrmann has always maintained his innocence and is appealing Justice Lee’s decision.

The start of today’s defamation trial comes despite repeated urgings for the parties to avoid having the case go to trial.

Justice Marcus Solomon, who was first assigned to the matter, had repeatedly warned Senator Reynolds, Ms Higgins and Mr Sharaz about the human and financial cost of taking the case to trial and personally led a lengthy and ultimately unsuccessful mediation session between the parties earlier this year.

And WA Chief Justice Peter Quinlan last month again called for the parties to avoid going for trial as he handed down a decision ordering Ms Higgins to hand over to Senator Reynolds’ legal team details about the trust set up to administer the $2.4 million settlement she secured from the Commonwealth.

I surmise they thought some uncoordinated effeminate nancyboi that they could coo over was going to make a fool themselves coz we’re all really so good though we can’t beat 15yo males at anything. Instead not good enough males charged through. Don’t expect others to stand up for you if you won’t stand up for yourself. Just about every governing body of sport is made up of never any goods, nothing to do with the sport or wannabes. Sport in general would be far better off without them. Indeed. Despite the attempted assassination and the USSS telling him to no longer do outdoor rallies, he has defied them and said he will continue with the outdoor rallies he and his supporters adore. Coming on the heels of refusing to cower in fear minutes after a bullet took a chunk out of his ear, and instead standing fist raised shouting “Fight, fight, fight!”, this shows the mettle of the man. That he lost money both running for and being President, and that he is fighting every single fake “crime” he has been accused of, also says plenty.

He could have simply retired to play golf at Mar-a-Lago, but instead stood up to be counted – and continued standing up for what he believed in through the smears, the impeachments, the lies, and the attempt on his life. This is clearly a man who loves his country and wants to save it. Say what you will of his personality and politics, and even say he is wrong about everything, but his patriotism and courage is not in doubt.

Around 750mm oa long, about the same tall. Varying widths. Scales 1:25, 1:50, 1: 75, 1:100. Some of them are modern. Even making a longboat for one is exciting only 75-120mm long. Doing the rigging is as hard as the hull and as time consuming. I’ve started a Russian Battle cruiser 2.3 m long. A single masted fishing boat is a good place to start or a revenue cutter. Even just a dingy can be challenging depending on how accurate you want it to be. For me its the journey not the destination A brig, US Eagle has 2 masts and there is a practicum for it to help. Depends how brave you are. I work in wood that I cut myself, brass and tinplate. All scratchbuilt.

That means Wyoming has 1 house rep, while Cali has 52.

The point, my dear Humpy, is that you can “bend” such stats to say whatever suits your agenda. The system is what it is and for good reason – a “democracy” invokes the tyranny of the majority, while a Republic attempts to mitigate the worst of it. Splitting govco power over three branches adds more mitigation.
The democrats could undoubtedly get 50%+1 of the votes on something like third trimester abortion, but they are unlikely to to get 50%+1 of the house, 60% of the senate and the President to all agree to that.

Higgins’ settlement based on ‘bare-faced falsity’Paul Garvey
The Commonwealth’s swift $2.475m settlement with Brittany Higgins was based on a “bare-faced falsity,” Senator Linda Reynolds’ lawyer says.

Martin Bennett, opening Senator Reynolds’ defamation case against her former staffer, said the outcome of the confidential mediation between Ms Higgins and the Commonwealth – which was leaked to the media “before the ink was dry” – would have caused the public to believe Ms Higgins’ claims that the senator had harassed her in the wake of her alleged rape.

“Any person in Australia reading this would automatically think the allegations made by Ms Higgins were so true, so damning, so correct in their allegations against Senator Reynolds, that the Commonwealth paid $2.5m on a single instance of mediation,” Mr Bennett said.

“The claims made by Ms Higgins were false, and Senator Reynolds was denied the appropriate venue, the appropriate time, the appropriate funding by the Commonwealth to defend the actions of herself and her staff.”

The 46 seconds of mayhem that saw Italian fighter Angela Carini, two time world champion, abandon the bout against controversial Algerian boxer Imane Khelif may yet be the killer blow to boxing’s future as an Olympic sport.

You know what, I have zero sympathy for the Italian gal. She’s no novice and a twice-world champion, so she knew what she was getting herself into. And then the bawling, because it didn’t work out. She should never have gotten into the ring with a bloke, because she’s fully aware it would be a hiding to nothing.

Here’s more on the subject. In Algeria, they may not throw them over the side of buildings, but they are fined and sent to jail.

Algeria criminalises same-sex sexual activity between men and between women. Sentences include a maximum penalty of three years’ imprisonment and a fine. There is some evidence of the law being enforced in recent years, and LGBT people are vulnerable to discrimination and violence.

Higgins’ texts ‘contradict’ claims when securing payoutPaul Garvey
Text messages sent by Brittany Higgins to her then-boyfriend contradicted the claim made by the political staffer when she secured a $2.475m payout from the Commonwealth, Senator Linda Reynolds’ lawyer has said.

Martin Bennett has been reading out messages sent by Ms Higgins to her then-boyfriend Ben Dillaway when she was in Perth working on Senator Reynolds’ re-election campaign, in which Higgins describes having a “fun” and “cool” time in the city.

The messages describe how she spent her time door knocking and attending campaign events, community forums and dinners during her weeks in the WA capital.

“Been out and about doing ground level campaigning. It’s been pretty fun actually,” she wrote in one of several messages to Mr Dillaway read out in court by Mr Bennett.

“My day has been awesome, mostly spent poolside,” read another.

The details contrast, he says, with what Ms Higgins told the Commonwealth when they negotiated her settlement. Mr Bennett said Ms Higgins told the Commonwealth that she had been “working alone in a hotel room for seven days a week, for six weeks” during her time in Perth.

The Federal Court ultimately found members who took up its Sustainable Plus options had investments in companies involved in industries the website statements said were excluded, such as:

Critics argue that the plea deal is a betrayal of the victims and their families, and that it undermines the ongoing war on terror. No sentimentality, whether civilian or foe in the fight for/to control the drug trade in Naples .. also a distinct lack of plod …….! Two things stand out like dogs balls in the XY Chromosome Imbroglio:

Firstly, the general argument that Khelif does not benefit unfairly from XY-power, but is a plucky 100% free range female, being monstered by unhinged heteronormatives (or something), turns on the IBA being discredited as notoriously corrupt by the notoriously corrupt IOC.

The IBA may well be thoroughly corrupt. But, interestingly, Khelif’s 2023 IBA expulsion on chromosomic grounds has not found its way to the Court for Arbitration in Sport.

Thus, we segue effortlessly, with pike and evidence-free double somersault, from any prospect of reasoned discussion on fair play in sport to the woke agendas.

Secondly, Jessica Fox seems to be XX positive and doesn’t appear to be either a transsexual or a Drag Queen.

All very well from a DEI perspective I suppose, but it’s not immediately clear what sort of role model she’s supposed to be…

The case relates to events in 2001. This alone makes it a nightmare on terms of evidence and prosecution. I have no idea what the actual evidence might be but any admission in a trial by the scumbag would have to be doubtful as no doubt would have been obtained by coercion. No problem for gaining intelligence but not much help if trying to use confession on basis it was voluntary.
Taking the life sentence plea deal avoids a very messy trial.

“Khelif might not even have high testosterone levels. That claim and the XY chromosome claim were made by the discredited and disgraced head of the IBA”.
As usual Monty on team try hard.
In simple terms the money is on Khelif having a condition that although he is male his body failed to produce male genitalia and gives him softer skin, he went through normal male puberty and has the testerone of a male.
Why would the Russians go after him?

Tuesday I went out in the morning, there were two brown objects on my front lawn.

Looked closer: a pair of Pacific Black Ducks.

That was fun since I’ve never had them come by before. They were fairly okay with me, and saw me handing out food to other Cafe clientelle. So I tried tossing them some small bits of bread.

Ooh, we like bread!

Someone has been feeding them. Anyway I made an impression since the next morning the male was hopefully lurking at the bottom of my front stairs. He got some bread then also, but they haven’t fronted since.

Know of a teenage girl who was raped not long after I left school, her dad was ex-armoured corps unsure but maybe Viet Vet as well.

As soon as he heard what had happened he zoned out and vanished, the rest of the family were searching frantically for him.

Cops picked him up on one of the main streets down to where the perps lived with a loaded shotgun. He went quietly and no charges were laid.

The blokes were promptly arrested and were told if they make bail leave town. Her dad wasn’t the only one angry. Last I ever heard of them they were doing time.

This was in the Victoria before Hulls stacking of the judiciary and when Vic Pol were made of sterner stuff.

https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2024/07/31/snapchat-refuses-to-reinstate-donald-trumps-account-shamelessly-asks-campaign-to-buy-advertising/

In the email to Trump’s campaign, Snapchat said, “I hope you had a nice weekend. I spoke with our Policy team and to provide a bit more context, they made the difficult decision to terminate President Trump’s Public Profile in 2021 after multiple policy violations.”“Unfortunately, our Terms of Service do not allow for reinstatement or for terminated users to create new accounts,”

Snapchat continued. “Reinstating the profile would involve reassessing and implementing entirely new Terms of Service, and we are unable to give preferential treatment to any creator on the platform.”
The social media platform went on to ask the Trump campaign for money via advertisement on Snapchat.

“I genuinely believe that Snapchatters are a key audience that can be persuaded to turn out for Trump — we reach over 96M users 18+, allow for the upload of first party lists, and have highly competitive CMPs ranging from $3-$6,” Snapchat said.

“I would love to explore alternative paths forward for our partnership, even given the current state of the profile,” the social media platform added. “If the team is skeptical about launching paid media without an organic presence, we highly recommend using the RNC’s profile or creating a new Vance profile.”
“Eager to hear your thoughts. Thank you for your understanding and visibility,” Snapchat concluded in its email

“Lying cow’ comment unfortunate but defensible: lawyer
Linda Reynolds’ lawyer has described the moment the senator described her former staffer Brittany Higgins as a “lying cow” as an unfortunate but defensible incident.

Barrister Martin Bennett told the WA Supreme Court was horrified at the falsity of what was being said about her when Ms Higgins appeared on The Project to detail her alleged rape inside Parliament House and her belief that Senator Reynolds had engaged in a political cover-up of the incident.

Mr Bennett has spent the afternoon detailing what he referred to as “bare-faced lies”, “nonsense” and “fabricated fictions” put forth by Ms Higgins when describing Senator Reynolds’ handling of her rape allegation.
The Australian revealed soon after The Project aired that Senator Reynolds had described Ms Higgins as a “lying cow” when watching the interview. Ms Higgins threatened defamation against the senator, who settled the matter through a $10,000 donation to a Canberra rape crisis centre.

Mr Bennett said Senator Reynolds’ use of the word “lying” to describe Ms Higgins was appropriate, while the word “cow” was unfortunate but reflected the senator’s “intense anger” about the claims being made about her by her former staffer.

“When you’re watching someone lie about you, ‘lying cow” is an entirely defensible thing to do,” Mr Bennett said.

He said the senator had swiftly settled the defamation claim and apologised as she did not want to interfere with the police investigation and potential prosecution.

“The reason she did that is because people might have interpreted her comment as casting doubt on the veracity of the rape allegation,” Mr Bennett said.

“Senator Reynolds apologised and entered into a non-disparagement clause that Ms Higgins forgot about immediately.”

Senator Linda Reynolds will spend all next week giving evidence in her defamation battle against Brittany Higgins, with former prime minister Scott Morrison set to follow her on the stand.

Senator Reynolds’ lawyer Martin Bennett late on Friday confirmed that the senator’s evidence would be followed by that of her husband Robert Reid, with Mr Morrison, Senator Reynolds’ parents and brother, former Liberal candidate David Goode and former Liberal MP Steve Irons all to follow the following week.

Senator Reynolds’ former chief of staff Fiona Brown is also expected to be called, as is news.com.au journalist Samantha Maiden.

Ms Higgins will then have up to four days on the stand towards the end of August.

Ms Higgins has so far not been in court for the proceedings. She married David Sharaz earlier this year and has since revealed that she is pregnant.

Court has concluded for the day.

This should be funnier then the circus.
