He advocates casting a legitimate vote in the lower house, which will inevitably end up going to the unipardee. Compulsory preferential voting is the culprit.

This is why I no longer cast formal votes in the lower house. I’m not going to be forced to vote for some deadsh*t I wouldn’t urinate on if they were ablaze.

What the f*ck are you on about?
You have no rights.
All you have is what you have the power to enforce, or what you can plead others to enforce for you.
That is reality.

There are no such things as “rights”.
All there is, is power.
What occurs in this world is what those with the power to enforce upon others want to occur.
Including any bullshit waffling about “rights”.

The left is correct about one thing, and one thing only, and only because they got it from thinkers much greater than themselves: there is only power. Power is all that counts in this world.
If you are confused about this, consider: is there anything you have that cannot be taken away from you?
There is nothing.

“Rights” is female thinking.
It is the thinking of a child.
It is the thinking of those who are protected, but who have never contemplated that the protection they receive is at the pleasure of the protector, and not because of some property inherent to themselves.
The “protectors” have an entirely different view, and their own reasons.
Whatever property the protected have is not absolute, only subject to circumstance.
That an entire society has come to believe, for whatever reason, that they have this property, is irrelevant to the substance of reality.

There’s the problem.

“Rights” are NOT ‘granted” . Such things are privileges, able to be “withdrawn” at the stroke of a pen

No, because duties exist regardless of rights.
Responsibility arises from existence itself.
Rights are an entirely artificial construct.
No one owes you anything.
The animals themselves have duties and responsibilities.
No animal awakes in the morning without required tasks to complete.
Even if those duties are only in service of their own existence.
A duty is a required task.
Nothing more.
A right implies tasks that others are required to do on your behalf.
There is no such thing.
Again: no one has to do anything FOR YOU.

This thread should include a discussion of ‘positive’ vs ‘negative’ rights.

Positive rights are the ‘right’ to get something done for or given to you (‘free’ health care, ‘free’ schooling etc etc etc) In contrast, negative rights are the ‘right’ to NOT have something done to you (not be robbed, not be raped, not be killed etc)

Arguably, Positive rights cannot exist because they clash with Negative rights – if I have the ‘right’ to receive health care, someone else has the obligation to provide it – stealing their labour or their money.

In either case, there needs to be an enforcement mechanism – I believe that enforcement of negative rights is is one of the few legitimate functions of government – to stop me being robbed for example. The obvious problem being, of course, that the biggest perpetrators are our governments. (taxation is theft, inflation is taxation etc etc)

In its ideal, pure form you are perfectly right.
But we live in a society, take it or leave it, and sort of agreed to participate and contribute, voluntarily or enforced makes no difference, by paying taxes or free labour.

In return we are promised and claim certain “rights”, like healthcare and living assistance if needed.

The fact, that some abuse the system by claiming the same rights but contribute nothing, does not change anything.

What we should do is to call up those bludging on the system and exclude them.
Never happens, they vote as well.

I think it’s incredibly naive how conservatives bought in to this leftist “rights” crap.
The left never believed it for a second by the way.
We saw that with “free speech”.
For the left “rights” were just a way to get you to not to use your power agin them when you had it.
They never intended to be curtailed by it in any way shape or form, as the covid bullshit showed you.
The French Revolution spewed on about the “rights of man” while they fed everyone through the guillotine.
It’s like with the money they channel through the budget directly to their friends.
While you and I imagined foreign aid was about helping starving kiddies, they knew all along it was about the money.
It was always about the money, and the shell game they played only had to be plausible to the idiots we used to be. Stop being an idiot.
Stop being foolish and understand: it’s always about power, it’s always about the money, it’s never about “rights”, it’s not about helping anyone, and it never was.

From the OOT …

Peter Dutton’s hopes of being able to form government in a hung parliament have been given a significant boost, as South Australian independent Rebekha Sharkie says she will meet with the Opposition Leader first if he can form a stable administration that will champion regional voters.

Yeah, nah.
This is typical posturing to appear even-handed and harvest ill-informed middle ground voters.
Precisely the tactic used by Oakeshott and Windsor a decade ago.
And a bit like our local Climate200 candidate who “doesn’t have a view” on our proposed offshore windfarm, and will “consult widely” after the election to establish what the electorate thinks.
Because he knows showing his hand now will kill his campaign stone dead.

Yep. Take that lesson from Allegra Spender in Wentworth. All sweetness and negotiable considerations etc prior to the election and look what happened. She voted with Greens 66% of the time, whereas the Green vote in Wentworth is only 8%. She voted Green for UNWRA too, in spite of the large Jewish population in Wentworth who would never have voted for that.

Yet now, she’s still espousing sweetness and light about who she’ll support. She’s going to ‘listen’ to all sides.

Yeah. And vote still for one side only, and it’s not conservative.

I will be pushing how-to-vote Liberal hard on election day against this pointless and trendy and vapid nightmare called Spender.

We have a bit of history with supposedly conservative “independents” in South Australia.
Twice they installed Labor governments after Labor lost elections – and that’s just in the last 25 years.

We knew all about it years before Oakeshott and Windsor got into the act.

I wouldn’t trust Sharkie as far as I could throw her with one hand, against a strong wind!

The Chook claimed before she was elected as a Teal that she had voted in the past for the Liberals.

I didn’t believe her then and have believed her even less since.

I think it was just a ploy to attract votes away from the Coalition to her.

Happier days?
England in the 1960s.

If you lived there and then be the judge.

A couple of comments on this;

Alison LH
Born 1950, left school 1966, college 2 years studying shorthand and typing, left college 1967 straight into job at Royal insurance group in Manchester. Learnt audio typing there. Spent 8 wonderful years there. Left 1975 to start family. Later on returning to office work in insurance, medical and legal work. Was never out of work the whole time; abundance of jobs in those days. Wonderful memories made, fantastic friends, now retired and 75 years old!

?Barbara R
Those days were the best. Grew up an got married in the 60s had two of my children. I walked out of one job on a Friday back into another on the Monday. Had a great social life, dancing, pictures. We could walk the streets without fear of being attacked. Worked hard managed to get my first house. Everything in it was second hand. I definitely wouldn’t want to try and buy a house these days. Its nearly impossible for some people.England in the 1960s.

Our three grandchildren and their parents were down from Brisbane over the weekend. On Sunday the parents went off to a wedding and Hairy and I minded our beautiful little grandies aged 10, 8 and nearly 6. Such a delight. I was dropped off at the ferry in Watson’s Bay by their parents on their way to the wedding and Hairy walked the three kids down to meet me as I haven’t had my stitches out from my spinal op yet. We enjoyed the ferry ride, had gelato at Circular Quay and listened to the buskers with the children giving them coins for the performance, and then got the ferry back to Watson Bay for lunch of fish and chips at Doyles before ALL of us walked home together. I was a little tardy though going up the hill, taking it in stages. It tired me out but it was a day in a million, and one I wouldn’t have missed ‘for quids’ as my father used to say.

Meant to add for Shaterzzz above that it also got the kids off their ipads and out into the wonderful great outdoors that surrounds us on this harbour peninsula. Their parents do restrict their ipad usage, and when we got home they left off begging us for ipad time. As I was languishing on the sofa I suggested to them I had never seen the Harry Potter movie and perhaps if they watched it with me they could give me clues and hints as to what was going on, and tell me about scary bits coming. We did that, and I don’t think there is anything wrong with family interactive TV watching. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone wasn’t bad watching for the first third, as the scene was set bringing in all sorts of Victorian ambiance and ancient memes, prophecies, spells and mythics, which I actually enjoyed, especially with Maggie Smith playing a stern headmistress. The last two thirds was tedious cinema but the kids still enjoyed seeing it for about the fifth time. The mythic qualities of JK Rowling’s book which the two girls had read (but I hadn’t) certainly stirred up a cauldron of imagery of the sort that kids thrive on.

Trump says he ‘couldn’t care less’ about higher car prices –

“Donald Trump has said he “couldn’t care less” if carmakers raise prices after his 25% tariffs on foreign-made vehicles comes into effect.”

Trump’s senior counsellor for trade and manufacturing Peter Navarro asked people to put their trust in the US president.

“Trust in Trump,” Navarro told Fox News, adding that previous tariffs on China by the US have led to “prosperity and price stability”.

“The reason why we will not see inflation is because foreigners are going to eat most of it, they have to,” he said, adding that the US “is the biggest market in the world.”

This should be the election campaign message of the “conservatives”, but Dutton said again that he supports Net Zero. The following is from American Thinker:
The challenge coming up is the collapse of the various politically driven “energy transition” schemes that arose from the over-selling of climate change fears and the attendant idea of “net zero.” The hopes for “renewables” like wind and solar to power current and growing levels of prosperity are finally being dashed on the cold, hard physics of energy. We’ve lost a decade or more in capacity improvements chasing the pipe dreams of the environmentalists.
A return to energy sanity will mean a surge in electric generation construction fueled by coal, natural gas, and uranium.

Better he get on with immediate cost of living decreases. Dropping of fuel costs will have major impact across supply chain, as well as for consumers.

WATCH: Private European Aerospace Firm’s Rocket Crashes Into Sea (30 Mar)

OSLO, Norway (AP) – A rocket by a private European aerospace company launched from Norway on Sunday and crashed into the sea 30 seconds later.

Despite the short test flight, Isar Aerospace said that it successfully completed the first test flight of its orbital launch vehicle by launching its Spectrum rocket from the island of Andøya in northern Norway.

They’re putting some epic positive spin on it. The video is wild: the rocket very nearly crashed back onto the launch pad and the kaboom was enormous.

Meanwhile Elon makes it look easy. Due tomorrow is a launch of 4 astronauts into a first ever polar orbit, including an Aussie. And in a couple hours from now another Starlink mission, which you can watch live at the link with your morning coffee if you want to:

A mother who tortured her own baby with a hot hair dryer and threatened to kill her other child – who kept her own medical kit handy – was engaged in an evil, malevolent and gratuitous level of violence fuelled by a love of meth that she prioritised over her own kids, a court has heard.

The eldest daughter is salvageable. All it would take is parents who loved and protected her, and time to heal.
The baby hasn’t yet formed the emotional ability to understand what has happened to her.
Scars – both physical and emotional – will remain, but there’s still the ability to overcome them and grow.
Kids are resilient.
The mother needs to be put down like you would with a mad dog before her own emotional disaster zone consumes more lives

WHY WE’RE A WASTE EXCLUSIVE

JAMES O’DOHERTY
31 Mar 2025

NSW Treasury has slugged taxpayers more than $170,000 for a consultancy to write up the findings of a government review into how to save money on consultants.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal that KPMG is being paid $176,000 to “assist” the government with a review into procurement, which has collected data “on the size, skill-set, distribution, and capabilities of public sector workforce”.

The Telegraph understands that KPMG is being paid to write up the findings of the “NSW government operational review” into a final report.

The review is designed to overhaul procurement practices, including by finding ways to spend less on consultants.

NSW Treasury refused to say what KPMG was doing to earn its $176,000, but said the operational review would “assess the current operating environment for NSW government procurement, to ensure that it continues to support delivery of outcomes for the people of NSW”. The contract is for about 6?½ weeks of work.

The KPMG contract is the latest example of the government paying external consultants hundreds of thousands of dollars, for reports, consultation papers, and advice.

The Telegraph has previously revealed that the government paid consultancy firm Elumni $200,000 for a consultation process on the future of the Moore Park Golf Course, which Premier Chris Minns has largely ignored.

Labor went to the election vowing to save taxpayers’ money on labour hire, after the auditor general found the Coalition had spent more than $1bn on consultants without having appropriate procurement policies in place.

Finance Minister Courtney Houssos will today launch an in-house advisory body, which will put bureaucrats to work doing jobs which were previously outsourced.

Editorial:

CONSULTANTS ARE THE WINNERS EITHER WAY

Even when they lose, they win. There’s just no way to keep consultants from cashing in on government contracts.

Their latest financial victory is possibly their finest yet. As The Daily Telegraph reports, NSW Treasury has billed taxpayers more than $170,000 for a consultancy to write up the findings of a government review into how to save money on consultants.

If it weren’t for the expense, you’d almost have to admire this remarkable level of double-sided accomplishment. Well done.

In the US polls consistently showed the presidential candidates as ‘neck and neck”. That was never the case, and I don’t think it is here, either.

Lord I hope I am wrong. Incidentally, there is another survey that shows young men turning away from Labor. I am sure that is the case.

I read that & as, usual, all supposition .. They polled, their figures, close on 39 000 folk but instead of releasing those as the result they then spread/divided them across the whole population, vote-wize, to come up with their answer ..
So 39 000 into 14 million (guessing ..) getz you Labor ……
Polls are guessing games which. for some reason, lotza folk believe are real results ………!

The statistical error would be about 3%. So, all with in each other.
the more interesting into the 2PP is they are assuming the same preference distribution as last time. OK.

in any case, people aren’t generally inclined to yet admit their mistake after one term, and will vote the same way they did last time. Even Whitlam got elected twice.

Media has been running mostly dead on Albo and running attack pieces when they do on Dutton.

Wallet wizards budget had cursory scrutiny and then there’s immigration also being ignored.

Most of the electorate get their news from the open sources. Behind paywall is a tad different.

BTW if the polls are right, the problem is definitely Dutton. Maybe he is a hard man to love. I have always said that Canavan is was of the few on the Right who has the conviction to say it “how it is” and the “right stuff”. Some of the young bloods – like Paterson and Hastie – are excellent, but not yet ready for leadership. Others are very good – like Leeser – but don’t seem ready ready to come forward. None of the women are leadership material that I can see. It is deeply depressing.

Patterson is not the smartest guy in the room despite signs he believes he is. Wastes valuable time at Committee on crappy detail. He is smart and he does work hard but needs to step up and tackle issues with substance. (The ADF’s chronic lack of lethality, and ISR would be a good start.)

Hastie had an interesting start. Encouraged to write in The Oz. Showed that he couldn’t. But as a local member has been outstanding. Local work on the ground (like the work of ordinary party members) is often undervalued. Hastie shouldn’t be.

Could do with some ‘real life experience’. Work in the mines, McDonalds, boring office work, small business anything that would help him shed the ‘out of touch’ just finished university/ipa vibe. Ditto some of the others from ipa. Maybe it is the coaching and mentoring, there is something that hasn’t quite gelled yet.

Have just been having a chat with a candidate standing with the support of the Community Independents Project – scary. They sort of comes across with a hint of a ‘cults’. Out of the 39 candidates, just 9 are male.

It’ll be more depressing after 3 May when Labor falls into minority government and then does a deal with the Australian Nazi Party to stay in power.

Shades of 1933 Germany.

Albo is still bashing the supermarkets for “price gouging” despite a 12 month review that failed to find evidence of the so-called gouging. His minders have obviously set-up staged media opportunities with brave Albo “saving us” from the “nasty supermarket gougers”. Michael Smith has run Albo’s latest messaging on the subject. It is all to create media opportunities for Albo and to pander to the Greens that have been in the work up to attacking supermarkets and blame the cost of living increases that he has created on them. They have been working on this strategy for the past three years. I recall I was surveyed outside a suburban Coles by a young Greenie with a push/poll survey nearly two years ago, and a petition to sign. Labor has no expertise or knowledge in retail and supply chain and have dived in thinking it will score cheap points and positive media for little effort. The blow-back could sink them.

Albo is as cunning as an s-house rat. He see’s mileage in this. He’s right too there is a simmer discontent with supermarkets and their near duopoly.

Colesworths are their own worst enemy though. My beef is all these gimmicks that have added to my trolley price. RSPCA accredited meat, cage free eggs, responsibly sourced this, diversity that etc… The relaxed labelling requirements so country of origin is removed and % Australian inserted so they can source Chinese processed goods at rock bottom prices. There’s literally no sea food from these waters anymore or it’s rare and the frozen stuff is all Chinese.

Then they’re charging for paper bags which is price gouging but the ACCC did nothing about.

That said price controls never work and my local Coles regularly looks like a East German 1980’s shop with all the empty shelves now, with the obligatory blame on insert weather event/COVID here. Price controls would make that worse.

The biggest impact on high supermarket prices comes from government policies that drive up costs, especially the cost of energy at all stages of the production and distribution process.

Coles and Woolworths were keen to get on board with the Voice, let’s see them enter the political fray on behalf of their shareholders and customers in a matter where their interests are really at stake.

See my above Roger, Colesworths have got on with every lefty gimmick around in recent years and the one thing I noticed was the steep rise in prices before to after.

Power yes but Coles tells me their use of renewables, aint that meant to be the cheapest?

I suspect having Linfox and a few refrigerated companies like Nolans doesn’t help either with supply chain inflexibility. My local Woolworths tells me Cyclone Alfred is the cause of shortages, even though the roads never really closed down the coast and it still being a month ago. I started politely disagreeing with these excuses if given them by people.

Not quite, prices reflect 2 inputs 1) the actual cost of producing and marketing the good 2) the purchasing power of the currency you are trading for it.

Government expansion of the money supply constantly devalues the dollar (thats why counterfeiting is illegal – for us) at a rate of around 10% per year (not the 2-3% they admit). If you want to check that for yourself, compare the price of gold for the last 20 years..

A bit of schadenfreude to start the day. Joe Hildebrand writes in the Daily Telegraph:

Every once in a while a country reaches a crossroads where it has to ask itself which way it wants to go. What sort of a country does it want to be? What will it tolerate and what will it refuse?

Australia is the most multicultural nation on earth and the most successful multicultural nation on earth.

It is something of which we should be enormously proud.

People from all over the planet have been coming here for 60,000 years, working and living alongside each other, sharing each other’s food and languages, and overwhelmingly sharing Australian values.

Values like respecting each other’s beliefs and political differences; like settling our arguments with votes instead of violence.

This makes Australia the best place to live and also sends a message that human beings can live together in friendship instead of fear.

And it is this that makes attempts to sabotage and undermine the great fabric of our nation so despicable.

The ugliness that has been exposed among some individuals in the wake of the October 7 terror attacks is a wake-up call in itself.

It tells us not that multiculturalism has failed but that extremism cannot be tolerated or it will.

Some with such views are homegrown student activists who have never met a cause they didn’t like; others are those who have let old prejudices travel with them to Australia.

Either way, we cannot allow such deranged furies to flourish here.

The disgraceful targeting of Tony Burke and others by hardline members of the Muslim community is one of the ugliest episodes in Australian history. If we excuse it, then we allow it and if we allow it, God help us.

The southwest Sydney MP has been ruthlessly and relentlessly pursued and his campaign material defaced and vandalised – eyes and face burnt scratched or blacked out – ever since activists decided to make the war in the Middle East a local issue.

In this he is not alone. Jewish MP Josh Burns has had his electorate office brutally vandalised and the PM’s own electorate office was barricaded by activists for months.

But the apparent threat to Burke is both more visceral and more personal.

Unlike the left-wing activists who populate Australia’s inner suburbs, and the left-wing MPs who represent them, Burke lives in Muslim working-class heartland and has represented their interests for decades.

Even since October 7, Burke has played a critical role in Australia advancing Palestinian statehood at the UN. As Home Affairs Minister he was effectively solely responsible for bringing thousands of at-risk Palestinians to the safety of Australia.

For this, he and the government have been attacked by conservatives and Jewish groups, and yet supposedly pro-Palestinian activists have attacked him more brutally than any.

Because for such diehards, no matter what you do it is never enough.

And so a minority of hardliners is trying to whip up anger against him in his own community to the point where he has now been told he shouldn’t be allowed to feel comfortable in it.

The idiocy of the argument doesn’t make it any less frightening.

Burke was attending a Muslim prayer meeting on Friday March 21 – as strong a show of support for the Muslim community as you can get at a time when it is under great strain.

And he showed up despite WhatsApp messages being reportedly circulated ahead of the event urging people to “hold them to account and show them they are not welcome”. Once there, Burke’s protection detail felt the mood was unsafe and he left, and it is here it gets really nasty.

Antagonists circulated a video attacking Burke for leaving the event they wanted to make him feel unwelcome at, while at the same time claiming they were disappointed they didn’t get to hear him speak.

The video also attacked Muslim MP Jihad Dib, who has done more for the Punchbowl community than perhaps any human alive, and whose teacher wife was disciplined by the Education Department for being too outspoken as a pro-Palestine activist.

But of course that was not enough. It is never enough.

The activist in the video accused Burke of “scurrying like a rat” and challenged him and other politicians to “come speak to us” while at the same time saying: “Don’t you dare show your faces in front of us, because you won’t be made to feel comfortable within our community.”

It’s deranged but that doesn’t make it any less dangerous to our democracy, nor our community, in which everyone should feel comfortable.

People on the right constantly say multiculturalism doesn’t work and Islam is incompatible with Australian values and hardline firebrands like this are doing everything they can to prove them right.

It is they who are the true traitors to their community.

Lie down with dogs, you get fleas. That’s where it is at Mr Burke. They hate you like they hate any Australian.
And Mr Hildebrand, this means that multiculturalism is a failure, despite you trying to pump those tyres.

FFS!!

Culture is the sum total of all the ideas and beliefs and agreed rules that determine how your society works. Its like your road rules but scaled up to your entire society. And like road rules, you can only have one set or your get collisions and accidents. This is why multicultural societies fail – there are too many collisions and too many injuries.

Note that CULTURE is NOT the same thing as RACE. Culture is software and RACE is hardware. Multiracial societies can work just fine provided they share a common culture. It is not ‘racist’ to criticise multiculturalism.

“I won’t be voting for the Liberal Party in the upcoming federal elections because, simply put, no matter how they spin it and no matter how much they try to scare us into voting for them, the Liberal Party are all about supporting the rich getting richer.”

And what, precisely, is wrong with that?

But let’s just throw money at those ‘traitors’ eh Mr Hildebrand? To keep Burqa and other associated morons in power. Daily Telegraph again:

An aged-care home established by a Western Sydney mosque secured a special multimillion-dollar federal funding deal shortly before the mosque publicly endorsed Labor cabinet minister Jason Clare, who faces the first serious challenge for the seat of Blaxland in 18 years – from an independent backed by new political movements The Muslim Vote and Muslim Votes Matter.

The pro-Palestine groups want to plunge the ALP into minority government by turfing out Mr Clare and fellow high-flyer Tony Burke in the neighbouring division of Watson, as well as Maria Vamvakinou in the Melbourne electorate of Calwell.

Mr Clare comfortably won Blaxland at the 2022 election, just as he has ever since becoming the member in 2007. Three years ago he secured victory on first preferences with a massive 55 per cent of the primary vote.

But this time round pharmacist and Cumberland City councillor Ahmed Ouf is aiming to push the Education Minister all the way.

The Muslim Vote and Muslim Votes Matter have called on the 30 per cent-plus of the Blaxland population who practice Islam to get behind Councillor Ouf.

Which is why the endorsement of Gallipoli Mosque at Auburn is so valuable to Mr Clare.

It’s understood the affiliated Gallipoli Home Aged Care facility next door was notified by the Department of Health in February that it would receive $3.35 million of urgently needed funding.

Gallipoli Home’s publicly available financial statements show a loss of $3.2m last financial year — and that its liabilities exceed assets by a similar amount — following large increase in workers compensation premiums.

Clare corflutes appeared on the mosque’s fence on March 16 after Gallipoli Turkish Cultural Foundation government relations adviser Enver Yasar contacted the Blaxland MP’s office and asked for them to be put up.

Two days later Mr Clare announced the financial lifeline, declaring he “was pleased to work with Gallipoli Home Aged Care to fight for this funding”. He noted it is the first aged-care facility in Australia “centred on the needs of Muslim elders.”

Mr Yasar told this masthead that “mosque management gave permission for the signs to be placed” on the fence.

He is also a Cumberland City councillor, representing Labor. He was previously an electorate officer for former NSW Labor leader Luke Foley.

“The mosque supports Jason Clare as he has consistently engaged positively with our community and represented its interests effectively,” Mr Yasar said.

Mr Ouf said he was “genuinely happy our community is finally receiving the attention and funding it has long been denied.

“But when it follows campaign posters, people notice,” he said.

“Labor’s in panic mode, throwing money at Blaxland like it’ll buy loyalty. After 18 years of neglect, this last-minute blitz is too little, too late.

“I’ve asked the institution to display my posters too, because fairness, not political deals, should guide community engagement,” Mr Ouf added.

His signs have not been displayed so far.

Mr Ouf said he was concerned about transparency.

“Mr Clare must come clean: was this funding about care or about campaigning?” Mr Ouf said.

Mr Clare’s spokeswoman said assistance “for the Gallipoli Home Aged Care was not conditional on the mosque endorsing” the MP.

Shadow Health and Aged Care Minister Anne Ruston told this masthead the financial injection was “very concerning.”

Senator Ruston questioned why the government had provided a lifeline to Gallipoli Home when 78 other facilities had been allowed to shut their doors since Anthony Albanese became Prime Minister.

“It begs the question: what was so special about this facility,” Senator Ruston said.

Answers on a postage stamp Senator Ruston.

Labour launches net zero crackdown on boats (30 Mar)

Labour is implementing stricter net zero measures on fishing boats, canal barges and pleasure craft, The Telegraph can reveal.

Under the maritime decarbonisation strategy, boat owners will be forced to swap out diesel engines, petrol generators and wood-fired stoves for electric motors, batteries and extra shore power hookups.

There will also be tax rises on marine fuel, with new boats required to be entirely electric.

Maritime bosses branded the Government’s plans “completely and utterly impractical”.

Maybe we should just go back to the Age of Sail.

The video discusses declining fertility and marriage rates, particularly in Western countries, emphasizing Lyman Stone’s view that delayed marriage is the primary issue affecting fertility rates. Once married, most couples tend to have children, but with people marrying later, they miss the opportunity to have more children during their reproductive years. The discussion highlights several factors influencing this trend, including the inability of young men to signal their suitability as partners, such as through wealth or military service, which has become less common. The conversation also covers women’s increasing socioeconomic success, creating a gap where they struggle to find equally successful male partners. The impact of modern lifestyle expectations, such as the pressure to maintain a specific lifestyle seen online and intergenerational comparisons, contributes to a feeling of inadequacy despite better economic standing than previous generations. Additionally, women prioritize career success but find it challenging to locate partners who meet their expectations, resulting in delayed marriage and childbearing. Finally, the conversation touches on how forming relationships earlier in life allows couples to grow together and create a shared life, potentially reducing the likelihood of divorce, compared to waiting longer when individuals have already established distinct lives and preferences.

In Feb 2021, then DC chief judge Beryl Howell created a special framework for judges to use in determining pre trial detention for J6ers—meaning keep them behind bars awaiting trial.

What became known as the “Chrestman factors” turned due process and standard bail rules on their head. Even nonviolent J6ers charged with conspiracy or obstruction with no criminal record could be held in a federal prison—often hauled cross country to the DC gulag—because as part of the “mob that attacked the Capitol,” they represented a danger to their community.

A J6er’s release was not considered on a case by case basis—which is normally required—but rather how big of a role in the “insurrection” (how Jeb Boasberg describes it) the defendant played.

Howell now claims she is the victim of a smear campaign by Trump’s DOJ.

NEW YORK MOVES TO BAN TESLA SALES—CITES “MASSIVE ISSUES” WITH ELON

New York lawmakers are coming for Tesla’s direct-to-consumer model, and Elon is the reason why.

A new bill introduced by State Sen. Pat Fahy would strip Tesla of its five existing sales licenses by 2026—opening the door for rivals like Rivian and Lucid to grab the permits.

If it passes, Tesla would be effectively banned from selling cars directly in the state.

“This isn’t about EVs,” one source said. “It’s about Elon.”

Critics are calling it a targeted takedown—weaponizing policy to punish the man, not the company.

This should be a serious case for the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice—swiftly.

In a recent development, Argentine President Javier Milei has ordered the release of documents concerning the escape of Adolf Hitler and other Nazis to Argentina after World War II. The video discusses the long-held theory that Hitler did not die in a Berlin bunker but instead fled to Argentina, where he reportedly lived until the 1960s. The release of these documents could shed light on the extent of Nazi operations in Argentina, which some sources claim served as a secondary base for the Third Reich. Additionally, the discussion touches upon the involvement of U.S. intelligence agencies, like the CIA, in facilitating and later recruiting these Nazis for operations against communists during the Cold War, notably through Operation Paperclip, which brought Nazi scientists and intelligence personnel to the U.S. This move towards transparency by Argentina could reveal more about these historical connections. The video also briefly mentions an ongoing investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s files, suggesting a broader trend towards governmental transparency.

Latest offering has Climate200 candidates losing nothing, in fact gaining a seat.

They’ll be down one in NSW (Abolition of Nth Syd), from what the bookies say Spender, Steagall and Scamps are likely to return. Vic Daniel is likely to hold on but Ryan may not (line ball on odds). Cheney is gone in WA.

From what the bookies say they are unlikely to win any other contests, even Cowper.

Oliver Stone to testify at JFK assassination hearingDavid ShepardsonReuters
Mon, 31 March 2025 7:41AM

Film director Oliver Stone will testify at a US House of Representatives hearing on thousands of pages of documents related to the 1963 assassination of John F Kennedy released at the direction of US President Donald Trump.
Representative Anna Paulina Luna, chair of the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, on Sunday said lawmakers will hear from witnesses about the value of the documents.
“By investigating the newly released JFK files, consulting experts, and tracking down surviving staff of various investigative committees, our task force will get to the bottom of this mystery and share our findings with the American people,” Luna said.
Shortly after taking office for his second term in January, Trump signed an executive order directing national intelligence and other officials to quickly come up with a plan for the full and complete release of all records relate to President Kennedy’s assassination.
The archives’ Kennedy assassination collection has more than six million pages of records, the vast majority of which had been declassified and made public before Trump’s order. Kennedy’s murder has been attributed to a sole gunman, Lee Harvey Oswald.
Stone’s 1991 film JFK faced harsh criticism from historians for its suggestions that Kennedy’s death was the result of high-level conspiracies. Stone has said Kennedy was not killed by a lone assassin and believes certain elements within the US intelligence community were involved.
The Justice Department and other federal government bodies have reaffirmed the conclusion in the intervening decades that Oswald acted alone. But polls show many Americans still believe his death was a result of a conspiracy.
Also testifying on Tuesday are journalist and author Jefferson Morley and author James DiEugenio. Morley said on social media he will focus on the CIA’s complete pre-assassination file on Oswald during the hearing.
Trump promised on the campaign trail to provide more transparency about Kennedy’s death.

The Democrat party is evolving into a fascist party before everyone’s eyes, turning every state they run into hostile territory for capitalism. I expect Trump can retaliate by withholding federal funds.

Regrettably, the orange oaf is helping communism along too. The proposal to make tipping and overtime tax free is that it will be paid for with more taxes on higher income earners. As someone called it – communism from the Right.

That’s not the suggestion coming from the WH, which is that income tax on high earners will pay for it because deeper cuts to government services may hurt Trump politically.

We wish, Will. Most of federal government spending is made up:

Mandatory Spending (~60-65% of total spending):

  • Social Security: The largest single program, providing retirement, disability, and survivor benefits. It’s driven by an aging population and cost-of-living adjustments.
  • Medicare: Health insurance for those 65 and older, plus some younger people with disabilities. Costs rise with healthcare inflation and demographic shifts.
  • Medicaid: Health coverage for low-income individuals, jointly funded with states. Spending varies with enrollment and healthcare costs.
  • Other Entitlements: Includes programs like federal employee retirement benefits, veterans’ benefits, and income support programs (e.g., SNAP, Supplemental Security Income).

Discretionary Spending (~25-30% of total spending):

  • Defense: Funding for the military, including operations, personnel, equipment, and research. This is often the largest discretionary category.
  • Non-Defense Discretionary: Covers a wide range, including education, transportation, housing, scientific research, law enforcement, and national parks. This portion is subject to annual congressional appropriations and often faces budget debates.

Interest on the National Debt (~10-15% of total spending):

  • Payments on borrowed funds to finance past deficits. This grows with higher interest rates and increasing debt levels. By March 31, 2025, with rising rates in recent years, this could be trending toward the higher end of that range.

They have to find 6% of GDP in these groups to balance the budget.

If they went near the medis they would be slaughtered at the next election.

Let’s say the US will take in $500 billion on tariffs, and that’s a lot. That alone will go toward making tips and overtime tax free. The debt is going to be difficult to deal with and so is the annual deficit.

If the Tariffs slow down the economy, which is what the markets are worried about, tax receipts fall and welfare goes up.

It’s now 2 months plus, and he’s not really touched much on deregulation, which could help growth.

Anyway, we’ll see where this all ends up.

Also the two policies he’s advocating really don’t make sense. He’s saying income from tariffs will help “make us rich”, which is Trump speak for paying down the debt and lowering taxes. At the same time he’s wants to move manufacturing onshore. So what happens to those tariffs?

Ent, all this is excellent. Not one cent.

The deficit, though is 6% plus of GDP (near enough to $2 trill). The DOGE cuts will help but it’s not much in terms of the heavy load. 6% of GDP is really big.

LOL, I did this years ago with my car. I came home and parked in the street outside my house, then noted a ‘camera car’ parked a little further up. I got in my car reversed back to block it. The operator hopped out and asked me to move … I refused …. the operator moved.

Another time, I got a camera ticket – which puzzled me – for my plate had a (then not illegal) central fin attached which should have obscured one of the digits. I therefore called for the picture. It showed that indeed the car they said was mine had one of the numbers occluded. I therefore objected, very reasonably claiming that there was doubt as to the identity of the car. SAPOL replied that ‘there are only 10 possibilities, and of those 10, you are the registered owner of the only one matching the observed make and colour’. I replied, ‘well it must be fun to be a detective, but does the legislation require that the plate be seen, or does it allow some combination of partial plate and make and model?” They cancelled the fine.

And in a different encounter, I defended a fine accrued whilst I was interstate by ‘naming the driver’. Only problem for them was I named *2* people – I said ‘I don’t know exactly which of these 2 people was driving, but it was either X or Y.’ They replied ‘not good enough, you haven’t named the driver’ . I said ‘ah yes but I have, I gave you 2 names, one of which was the driver, ergo I gave you the name of the driver’. They cancelled the fine…..

Must have been for only a moment, he continues on. Just pay it, I say. We’d never win on appeal. We had a good time, and that’s just part of the cost of it, on top of the parking. Victoria’s ‘Compassionate’ bail laws kill two more kids. Topher Project Ep 041

In this episode, Topher Field discusses the tragic deaths of two teenagers who crashed a stolen car in Melbourne, critically examining the role of Victoria’s perceived lenient bail laws. Field argues that the state’s “compassionate” approach to juvenile crime, which often results in minimal consequences for young offenders, contributes to such tragic incidents. He criticizes politicians, the media, and judges for prioritizing compassion over accountability, suggesting this lack of enforcement emboldens reckless behavior among youth. Field calls for stricter enforcement and consequences to deter crime and protect both potential victims and the young offenders themselves. He advocates for firmer legal repercussions as the truly compassionate response, contrasting this with the current system, which he believes fails to address the root problems effectively.

Why do we persist in naming the deaths of criminals committing a crime as ‘tragedies’. If the police rang me and said ‘we found your stolen vehicle and its totalled’ I would say ‘aw crap’.

If they said ‘we found your stolen vehicle totalled with the perps dead in it , I would say ‘fair trade’

More Trumpening! If the Dems keep on like this they will be out of power for a generation:

Tim Walz’s daughter has turned down a graduate school offer because she does not want to ‘give her money’ to an institution which won’t support students’ right to protest.

Hope Walz, whose Democrat father would have been vice president if Kamala Harris won the election, will instead ‘take her time’ over the next year to find a school which better aligns with her values.

She said as a ‘privileged white woman’, the repercussions of protesting on campus wouldn’t necessarily impact her, but she didn’t want to give money to an institution that wouldn’t also protect her peers.

Protesting on campus has become a flashpoint of the Trump administration, after the president signed an executive order describing pro-Palestine activism which swept campuses last year acts of antisemitism.

He threatened to cut federal funding to schools which ‘allow illegal protests’ and vowed to imprison ‘agitators’ or send them back ‘to the country which they came from.’

American students who could not be deported faced expulsion and arrest, Trump said, while simultaneously banning masks which shield a protester’s identity.

Hope’s comments sparked outrage among critics who said she was acting ‘performatively’ and ‘setting feminism back 50 years.’

‘White women privilege is getting into college but having such rich parents you can decide to not go.. how noble and brave,’ another critic said.

Others questioned whether she truly was accepted to her ‘dream school’, saying she could have been creating an elaborate excuse when in reality she simply didn’t get in.

‘She didn’t get in lol. I wouldn’t be surprised if she didn’t even apply to one… it’s all theatrics,’ one critic said.

Another added: ‘In other words, I don’t want to go to grad school, but I can pose as a social Justice warrior and then get hired by dad’s buddies think tank.’

A third wrote: ‘If virtue signaling paid well, she’d be a millionaire.’

Another warned that she was so ‘brainwashed’ that she was inadvertently ‘screwing herself out of an education.’

‘Person 17’: Conversation with Ben Roberts-Smith’s ex-lover at centre of appeal bidBy Michaela WhitbournMarch 31, 2025 — 8.43am

Listen to this article
5 min
The leaked audio recording at the centre of war criminal Ben Roberts-Smith’s bid to reopen his defamation appeal involved a conversation between a journalist and the former soldier’s one-time lover, the Federal Court has heard.
The former Special Air Service corporal filed an application last week to reopen his appeal to introduce new evidence about a recording of The Age and Sydney Morning Herald investigative journalist Nick McKenzie speaking to a witness in the defamation trial.

McKenzie, an author of the articles at the centre of the defamation case, was one of the respondents to the lawsuit.
Roberts-Smith is seeking to overturn a landmark decision by Federal Court Justice Anthony Besanko in 2023, which dismissed his multimillion-dollar defamation case against The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald and found he was complicit in the murder of four unarmed Afghan prisoners.
Roberts-Smith’s barrister, Arthur Moses, SC, confirmed in the Federal Court in Sydney on Monday that the recorded conversation sought to be used in his appeal was between McKenzie and “Person 17”, a witness in the defamation trial whose identity was suppressed by the court.
A transcript of that conversation was filed in court as part of an affidavit sworn by one of Roberts-Smith’s lawyers.
Person 17 is a former lover of Roberts-Smith who gave evidence against him in the defamation trial.
The audio of McKenzie telling Person 17 he had received details of Roberts-Smith’s legal strategy in the defamation case was published by News Corp’s Sky News last week.
According to the transcript, McKenzie, who was attempting to reassure Person 17 about giving evidence in the case, said Roberts-Smith’s ex-wife, Emma Roberts, and her friend, Danielle Smith, were “actively … briefing us on his legal strategy” in the defamation case.
“I shouldn’t tell you. I’ve just breached my f—ing ethics in doing that … If Dean knew that … I’d get my arse f—ing handed to me on a platter,” McKenzie said.

The video on Asmongold TV discusses the lengthy and complex bureaucratic process for implementing broadband infrastructure improvements in the U.S. under a bill supported by the Biden administration. The process, as outlined, involves numerous steps including multiple rounds of proposals, planning grants, reviews, and mapping stages, each fraught with challenges and delays, resulting in only a few states progressing through the entire process. The speaker expresses frustration at the inefficiency and bloated nature of the government system responsible for administering these initiatives. Highlighting Elon Musk’s perspective on inefficiencies, the speaker uses humor to underline the convoluted nature of government procedures, suggesting an overly regulated “Karenocracy” as a significant hindrance to effective policy implementation.

PM says Chinese ship being ‘monitored’

Anthony Albanese says he would “prefer that it wasn’t there” on the Chinese government research vessel off the south coast of Australia but has declined to provide more details on the Chinese mission or what the Australian government had done.
“Do you know what it is researching? What have you done to protect our undersea cables from any monitoring or sabotage? And have you communicated anything to the Chinese government about this?” he was asked.
“What we have done is we’re continuing to monitor it,” he said. “We won’t – for obvious reasons – broadcast everything that we’re doing. But we’re keeping an eye on this as we do.”
When asked what “monitoring” meant, he said it meant the “Australian Defence Force is monitoring what is happening”

How do you spell “Appeasement” again?

The Oz on the weekend reported Dutton as wanting a referendum to put aborigines in the Preamble to the Constitution.

Leaving all of that well alone would be a far better move.

Who wants to revisit that nonsense, and have it later used against us?

Just let Jacinta get on with her job which will win a lot of voter approval.
And do something useful for aboriginal people as well. A Preamble mention will just sow further division.

Tin ear there, Dutton.

The MSM worldwide hates Trump, especially now that he has pulled a lot of no-questions-asked funding via the defunct USAID.

It has been depressing since 2016 how ignorant and uninformed local coverage of US politics has been. I keep dreaming that a Senator will get up in Estimates and ask TheirABC how many positive/negative/neutral stories they have run, and why.

You can’t blame the average Aussie, who is not obsessed with politics, for seeing Trump as an ogre. That is the 100% message in the MSM, and social media is not much better.

Incidentally, my opinion about why Trump is not crushing Tik Tok is because he doesn’t want to allow the rest of the titans to eliminate a serious competitor without his agenda getting something out of it.

Just a thought.

The video from The Duran discusses the current issues facing the UK economy and critiques political focus on foreign policy, particularly by K Starmer, with an emphasis on Ukraine. The commentary highlights that domestic economic concerns are being overshadowed by ambitious foreign interventions, which are straining the British economy. Key points include: 1. **Economic Crisis:** The UK economy is struggling, with recent contractions shocking economists. Increased government spending and taxation haven’t yielded growth, instead escalating national debt to around 100% of GDP. The UK’s deficit requires foreign capital, causing a cycle of spending cuts and tax increases, termed a “doom loop.” 2. **Starmer’s Focus:** K Starmer, focusing on foreign policy — specifically Ukraine — is criticized for neglecting domestic economic issues. His international pursuits, such as sending military aid to Ukraine, are questioned given Britain’s strained finances. 3. **Public Sentiment:** There’s widespread public demoralization in the UK, with declining trust in political parties. People perceive deteriorating conditions and see no clear solutions or leadership. 4. **Nigel Farage:** Farage remains a prominent political figure but struggles with defining his role between establishment and reform. He’s noted for his past successes like Brexit, but his current political vision and strategies lack clarity. Overall, the video highlights a perceived disconnect between political leadership and the pressing economic challenges within the UK, with a call for domestic fiscal policies to be prioritized over foreign entanglements.

Penny drops for Alan Kohler:

“We know that dwelling approvals have been in trend decline for 10 years. We also know that population growth has been climbing for 20 years driven by a doubling and then tripling of migration. This is why we have a housing crisis: too many people, not enough houses.”

He notes (citing ABS statistics) that, with migration at present settings, demand is outstripping supply by 12 000 dwellings per month.

And with demand running at more than twice supply, Dutton’s 25% migration cut for two years is merely cosmetic, an attempt to cover an ugly fact of contemporary Australian life with a band-aid.

In the video “Cancers in the young” on Dr. John Campbell’s channel, the discussion focuses on an interview between Tucker Carlson and Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, a seasoned surgeon and medical researcher. They address the unexplained rise in cancer rates among younger individuals despite a decrease in smoking, traditionally a major cancer risk factor. Specifically, there is a notable increase in occurrences of aggressive cancers like pancreatic, colon, and ovarian cancers in younger age groups, including children, which historically was rare. Dr. Soon-Shiong attributes this rise to potential immune system imbalances, where the body’s natural killer cells, responsible for eliminating cancer and infected cells, are being suppressed. This suppression may be linked to chronic inflammation, possibly caused by factors like ultraprocessed foods. The conversation also touches on the need for greater focus on immunology within cancer treatment, exploring concepts like “quantum oncotherapeutics”—the ability of cells such as neutrophils to change function under chronic inflammatory conditions. The discussion highlights concerns that current treatments, like surgery and chemotherapy, inadequately address immune system regulation. The video also mentions promising research, such as a vaccine developed to upregulate T-cells, but notes regulatory challenges in bringing such treatments to public use. Overall, there is a call for better data collection to understand underlying causes and correlations between recent health interventions and increased cancer rates.

Slightly long, but a good piece explaining where Trump’s head is at with Tariffs and the onset of Tariff day.

The realpolitik of Trump’s tari?s

The president’s trade policy is about power and security, not economics

T-day — or Tariff Day — is coming this week. Or not. We simply won’t know until

it’s here, given that President Donald Trump changes his mind about policy daily.

But assuming reciprocal tariffs do go into effect, it’s worth thinking about them as

Trump himself probably does.

Economists might fret about their inflationary effects, but Trump isn’t motivated

by classical economic theory. To the extent that he thinks about tariffs in purely

economic terms at all, he would look at the evidence of the increased tariffs against

China during his first term, between 2018 and 2019, and note that, even though

these represented a material adjustment in rates, they had minimal inflationary

effect.

https://www.ft.com/content/60bf5b3d-5e2b-44b8-a119-ffbd6dd6ba92 1/43/31/25, 3:49 PM The realpolitik of Trump’s tariffs

As Stephen Miran, the chair of Trump’s Council of Economic Advisers, put it in his

now infamous report “A User’s Guide to Restructuring the Global Trading

System”, the result of these tariffs was that “the dollar rose by almost the same

amount as the effective tariff rate, nullifying much of the macroeconomic impact

but resulting in significant revenue. Because Chinese consumers’ purchasing

power declined with their weakening currency, China effectively paid for the tariff

revenue.”

Readers who want to understand America’s current tariff strategy would do better

to think less about orthodox economics, and more about the realpolitik that

motivates Trump. There are three points to consider here.

Trump’s realpolitik rule number one is that burden sharing between America and

the rest of the world must shift. We already know about this in terms of the US

push for more European defence spending. But when it comes to tariffs, there are

only three numbers that matter to Trump: the average US tariff rate on other

countries is 3 per cent; Europe’s is 5 per cent; and China’s is 10 per cent. To him,

and to many Americans, those figures seem fundamentally unfair. If the president

can move those averages closer together within four years without any major

inflationary impact or a market crash, that will represent success to him, and to

many voters.

Realpolitik rule two is that China is the most critical geostrategic threat to the US

and must be countered by any means necessary. Trade deficits between the two

countries matter to Trump, but so does security. This is the reason that he is

pursuing decoupling in areas such as ships, technology, critical minerals and

energy, creating separate nodes of production and consumption globally for

security reasons. It is all about being able to project power and strength, which are

the things — aside from wealth — that motivate him.

There are certainly exceptions to this. For example, it doesn’t make a whole lot of

sense to allow American financiers to pay for the rebuilding of the Nord Stream 2

pipeline to carry Russian gas into Europe (not that many Europeans would trust

Vladimir Putin with their energy security anyway), given the tight relationship

between Russia and China. It’s much smarter to use cheap US natural resources as

a bargaining chip in trade negotiations with Europeans. These are the sorts of

head-scratching Trumpian decisions that bolster the idea that his only real north

star is commerce and short-term transactionalism.

https://www.ft.com/content/60bf5b3d-5e2b-44b8-a119-ffbd6dd6ba92 2/43/31/25, 3:49 PM The realpolitik of Trump’s tariffs

Still, supply-chain independence from China is a stated goal for the

administration, not only for reasons of trade but for security. If you don’t have

independent supply chains to produce crucial goods, you don’t have national

security. Or, as Trump has said, “if you don’t have steel, you don’t have a country.”

The US doesn’t even want to count unequivocally on allies that have significant

trade relationships with China, as Europe does (China is the EU’s largest import

partner, and trade dependency between the two regions has increased in recent

years), because the administration doesn’t believe it will be able to trust them

given their economic dependence on Beijing.

Finally, realpolitik rule three is that the Trump administration views the dollar as

both an exorbitant privilege, as then French finance minister Valéry Giscard

d’Estaing put it in the 1960s, and an exorbitant burden. The emphasis right now is

on the latter.

The possibility of a “Mar-a-Lago” accord to weaken the dollar is roughly based on

Ronald Reagan’s 1985 Plaza Accord, which did the same thing relative to European

and Japanese currencies. In both cases, the goal was to make US exports more

competitive.

While many people believe Trump would never do anything to destabilise the

dollar and thus potentially endanger the US stock market, it’s worth bearing in

mind that his re-election is no longer on the table. Share prices undoubtedly

matter to him, but legacy probably matters more. Being the president who ended

the Bretton Woods era would be quite the legacy.

Consider too that the dollar must weaken to support re-industrialisation, which is

crucial to realpolitik rule number two. This is also an echo of the Reagan era,

another period in which realpolitik mattered as much as economics.

Reagan was a free trader, but also a defence hawk. He worried about US exports

and supply chain security; indeed, his deputy US trade representative Robert

Lighthizer, who was later Trump’s USTR, put pressure on the Japanese to limit

exports of steel, cars and other goods in part for this reason.

Realpolitik is practical, not moral or ideological. If Trump thinks tariffs will help

him, he won’t care who they’ll hurt.

You know, it may not be a good idea for the conservative party to win the election in Canada. Let it become Carney’s carnage.

Trade whoresCan Canada survive a 19% drop in its GDP?

As you read or view media reports on Trump’s Trade Wars, bear in mind these facts.

Mexico’s GDP is $1.8 trillion a year. Its exports to the United States are $506 billon a year. Exports to the USA make up 28% of its economy.

Exports to Mexico make up less than 2% of our $27.7 trillion GDP.

Canada’s GDP is $2.1 trillion. Its exports to the USA are $413 billion a year. Exports to the USA make up 19% of its economy.

Exports to Canada are less than 2% of our GDP.

Delusional politicians in Canada like Ontario’s Doug Ford are huffing and puffing like a fat man on mile two of a marathon race.

Ford said, “We’re going to make sure that we inflict as much pain as possible to the American people without inflicting pain on the Canadian population.”

As the Indian chief said, how. We can replace Canadian bacon with slices of ham. I don’t think the 51st state can replace its $100 billion trade surplus by opening a few more Tim Horton stores in Red China.

After being called America’s hat for so many years, Canadian politicians came to believe they are America’s brains. Who can blame them? Just consider how stupid our politicians are—or have been until this president returned.

Trump shocked Washington this time by appointing a Cabinet of people who can think for themselves and actually run the departments the deep state experts thought they had all to themselves.

The Canadian trade imbalance is of recent vintage as the two countries generally swapped trade surpluses of $20 billion or less up until 2020. Biden ignored Trump’s free trade agreement with Canada (and Mexico). Also Biden’s shutting down American oil drilling made the nation more reliant on Canadian oil. This widened the gap.

Mexico has always been a problem. Just wall it off.

And maybe we can do the same to Canada.

The press, of course, is getting the story backward, acting as if Canada supplies the lifeblood of the USA’s economy.

AP opined, “The U.S. cities most vulnerable to a trade war with Canada turn out to largely be in the states that helped return Donald Trump to the White House—a sign of the possible political risk he’s taking with his tariff plans.

“A new analysis released Thursday by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce detailed the areas most dependent on exports to Canada, with San Antonio and Detroit topping the list of 41 U.S. metro areas. The findings show that the United States’ 25% tariffs on Canada and Canada’s retaliations could inflict meaningful damage in key states for U.S. politics.”

Things for Canada and Mexico could get seriously ugly in a hurry.

Put the fork down Calli – the protests were Paliwood.
They just decided to make it look more authentic by killing the poor bastard that got his picture taken.
The message is :
“See what happens when you disobey us?”
Behind the savagery, there is a vast cunning. Don’t ever underestimate them.

The phrase “Allah is the best of plotters” is derived from Surah Al-Anfal, Ayat 30 of the Quran. This verse is often translated as:

“And (remember) when the disbelievers plotted against you (O Muhammad) to imprison you, or to kill you, or to drive you away (from your home at Makkah). They planned, Allah also planned, and Allah is the best of the planners.”

Iran has no effective air defenses, after they were largely destroyed by Israel in retaliation for ballistic missile attacks last year. Iran is possibly gambling that Trump would not dare follow through on his recent threats of military action.

Possibly.

Given global stakes and the fact the threats were certainly and unequivocally made, I guess you’d have to thank the Ayatollahs for volunteering Iran to find out the amount of resolve that sits behind the Resolve Desk.

Some cats and kittehs may recall that I read left-wing Slate’s advice columns for shits and giggles,

This one stopped me in my tracks:

My partner of two years and I have a long-distance relationship that requires us to go and stay with each other for one or two weeks at a time. How can we fairly manage our finances around shared food costs when staying in each other’s houses? A particular grey area is around staple food items that we always keep in our respective cupboards (oil, pasta, rice, peanut butter, teabags, oats, etc.), which we use when alone and together. It’s becoming an issue!
—it Would Be So Much Easier If We Lived Together

What’s more, it garnered a serious response from the Agony Aunt about how they could draw up lists of expenses and so on. And have D&Ms about their expectations.

Years ago, they had a smart, funny Jewish woman called Emily Yoffe doing the column. She would have said that if you are nitpicking about penaut butter and pasta expenditure, the outlook for your future as a couple is not good.

My favourites are the ones where anguished ‘liberal’ white parents whose kids have black friends encounter ‘the n word’ and how it should be explained and why they can never, ever say it. The contortions are worthy of a Barnum & Bailey freak show,

From the Oz.

Greens leader Adam Bandt has bizarrely sheeted blame to Israel for Hamas’s brutal executions of Palestinians who had risen up against the terror group’s stranglehold of the Gaza Strip.
The leader of the left-wing party – which could play an important role in a hung parliament – said while the killings should be investigated by human rights groups, the ultimate problem in Gaza was Israel’s occupation.
Hamas has begun to crack down on thousands of Gazans who protested against the group last week, executing at least six and publicly beating others, according to Israeli media.
One of those murdered was Odai al-Rubai, 22, who was beaten and tortured for four hours before being dumped, dying, on his family’s doorstep.
“He was dragged by a rope around his neck, beaten with clubs and metal rods in front of passers-by,” a Gaza City resident told Israel’s Ynet TV.

The future deputy Prime Minister of this country? Words fail me, they honestly do.

….

When The Australian asked Mr Bandt if he condemned Hamas’s actions and if the International Criminal Court should investigate, the Greens leader did not reference the terror group by name and instead attacked the Israeli government of Benjamin Netanyahu.

“The killing of civilians is devastating, never acceptable and should always be investigated by human rights organisations,” he said. “For all killings to finally stop, and for Palestinians and Israelis to have a just and lasting peace, the occupation of Palestine and the invasion of Gaza need to end.

“Australia needs to move from words to action and put pressure on the extremist Netanyahu government to end the occupation of Palestine, which is the root cause of the conflict, and end the invasion of Gaza.”

CBO Issues Dire Forecast for US Debt

“The US Congressional Budget Office is warning that the federal deficit has hit a point of no return. It is far too late to cut wasteful government spending. Politicians have kicked the can down the road for far too long and left us with a financial system held up through perpetual borrowing that cannot be reversed.

The CBO’s long-term forecast shows the federal deficit rising to 7.3% of GDP by 2055, but the figure is currently at 6.2% as of 2025 and this is an optimistic report. In contrast, the 30-year average from 1995 to 2024 was 3.9% of GDP. Public debt is projected to hit 156% of GDP by 2055, up from the 100% of GDP we face today.

Now the CBO mentioned that Trump’s tariffs could negatively impact the economy but we reached the point of no return years ago. Trump cannot be blamed for the current situation in the least. “Mounting debt would slow economic growth, push up interest payments to foreign holders of U.S. debt and pose signi?cant risks to the ?scal and economic outlook,” the Long-Term Budget Outlook: 2025 to 2055 stated.”

Schmitt Brings Up ‘Obama’s Secret Weapon’ While Breaking Down ‘Whole Of Society Censorship Campaign’

In the Forbes Breaking News video titled “Schmitt Brings Up ‘Obama’s Secret Weapon’ While Breaking Down ‘Whole Of Society Censorship Campaign’,” the speaker, a former Missouri attorney general and current senator, discusses a perceived large-scale censorship campaign led by an alliance of activists, academics, journalists, big tech companies, and federal bureaucrats. This alliance allegedly suppresses dissenting viewpoints, particularly those of conservatives, and operates both within and outside of government structures. The speaker highlights the role of NGOs and nonprofit organizations in shaping public discourse and suppressing conservative speech through blacklists and manipulation of media narratives. The video mentions specific organizations and individuals involved in these efforts, including those who transitioned from the Obama administration to roles in the nonprofit sector and back into governmental positions. The senator argues this network operates as a “shadow state” influencing society’s power centers and undermines constitutional protections of free speech. Additionally, the speaker claims extensive coordination between the Biden administration and these groups, with taxpayer dollars purportedly funding these censorship efforts. This campaign, the senator warns, threatens the foundational principles of free speech and self-governance in America.

Thank You Victorian Government news (the Hun):

A freed immigration detainee shot by police in Melbourne’s southeast was on five sets of bail when he allegedly ran at officers with a metal pole, a court has heard.

Five. Sets. Of. Bail.

Which means that since his release, ordered by the HCA, he has cocked it up five times, been arrested five times and been released each time by the pissweak Vicco judiciary.

Masi Ayiik, 33, fronted the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday afternoon after copping a bullet to the armpit at the weekend.

He had been facing deportation for serious criminal offences.

Duh.

His defence lawyer Daniel McGlone told the court on Monday his client would again apply for bail, but noted it would be a complex application.

“There’s also revocation for five bails, so it’s more than just the bail application,” he said.

“The difficulty is the revocation applications because they relate to a further five sets of offending.”

And:

He allegedly breached his visa conditions in December and again in January.

Mr Ayiik was among hundreds of criminals, including murderers and rapists, who were cut loose on the nation’s streets after the High Court ruled a stateless Rohingya man, known only as NZYQ and convicted of child sex abuse, could not be indefinitely detained.

Over $100 million, this has cost the taxpayer – not counting the human cost of what these animals have done to Joe and Jane Citizens since being let out – and frequently given bail again and again after reverting to type.

‘We’ve Never Seen Anything Like This’: Jonathan Turley Details Modern ‘Anti-free Speech Movement’

In the Forbes Breaking News video, Jonathan Turley and others discuss what they see as a modern “anti-free speech movement.” The conversation highlights concerns about censorship under the guise of combating disinformation, particularly in contexts like the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 U.S. election. Big tech companies, like those funded by Mark Zuckerberg, are criticized for allegedly participating in censorship by suppressing dissenting viewpoints, such as stories about the Hunter Biden laptop. The panelists argue that this censorship has eroded public trust in media and government institutions. Turley notes the historical consistency of free speech debates and warns against the unprecedented coalition of government, academia, media, and corporations working together to suppress free speech. He emphasizes that even though some corporations like Meta might be stepping back from censorship practices, these efforts could shift to government actions in other regions like the EU and Brazil. The discussion concludes with a reiteration that while technologies evolve, the fundamental legal questions about government censorship remain unchanged according to the First Amendment.

* It was you who assured the Egyptian Foreign Minister that – “I am a Muslim.”
* It was you who bowed in submission before the Saudi King.
* It was you who sat for 20 years in a Liberation Theology Church condemning America and professing Marxism.
* It was you who exempted Muslims from penalties under Obamacare that the rest of us have to pay.
* It was you who purposefully omitted – “endowed by our Creator ” – from your recitation of The Declaration Of

* It was you who mocked the Bible and Jesus Christ’s Sermon On The Mount while repeatedly referring to the ‘HOLY’ Qur’an.
* It was you who travelled the Islamic world denigrating the United States Of America.
* It was you who instantly threw the support of your administration behind the building of the Ground Zero Victory mosque overlooking the hallowed crater of the World Trade Center.
* It was you who refused to attend the National Prayer Breakfast, but hastened to host an Islamic prayer breakfast at the
White House
* It was you who ordered Georgetown Univ. and Notre Dame to shroud all vestiges of Jesus Christ BEFORE you would
agree to go there to speak, but in contrast, you have NEVER requested the mosques you have visited to adjust their decor.
* It was you who appointed anti-Christian fanatics to your Czar Corps.
* It was you who appointed rabid Islamists to Homeland Security.
* It was you who said that NASA’s “foremost mission” was an outreach to Muslim communities.
* It was you who as an Illinois Senator was the ONLY individual who would speak in favour of infanticide.
* It was you who was the first President not to give a Christmas Greeting from the White House, and went so far as to hang
photos of Chairman Mao on the White House tree.
* It was you who curtailed the military tribunals of all Islamic terrorists.
* It was you who refused to condemn the Ft. Hood killer as an Islamic terrorist.
* It is you who has refused to speak-out concerning the horrific executions of women throughout the Muslim culture,
but yet, have submitted Arizona to the UN for investigation of hypothetical human-rights abuses.
* It was you who when queried in India refused to acknowledge the true extent of radical global Jihadists, and instead
profusely praised Islam in a country that is 82% Hindu and the victim of numerous Islamic terrorists assaults.
* It was you who funnelled $900 Million in U.S. taxpayer dollars to Hamas.
* It was you who ordered the United States Postal Service to honour the MUSLIM holiday with a new commemorative stamp.
* It was you who directed our UK Embassy to conduct outreach to help “empower” the British Muslim community.
* It was you who funded mandatory Arabic language and culture studies in Grammar schools across our country.
* It is you who follows the Muslim custom of not wearing any form of jewellry during Ramadan.
* It is you who departs for Hawaii over the Christmas season so as to avoid past criticism for NOT participating in seasonal

Worst U.S. president ever.

Including Biden.

The damage he has done is lasting and his continuing influence pernicious.

Anyway, “Sliante” to all you mob.

Finished reading “Pearl Harbor – Final Judgement” by Henry Clausen.

Clausen puts all the conspiracy theories to bed, once and for all, but he comes to the conclusion that the top officers in Hawaii, Kimmel and Short, were just ‘asleep on the job” and ignored all the warnings. He also comes to the conclusion that, certain senior officers in the U.S. Navy, saw secret intelligence as their little sandcastle, and not to be shared with the Army.

Good reading, check it out.

Defence has handed responsibility for the monitoring of a suspected Chinese spy ship to the Australian Border Force despite Anthony Albanese’s claim that the ADF is on the case.
Security experts have warned the dual-use Chinese research vessel Tan Suo Yi Hao, currently operating off South Australia, is almost certainly gathering undersea data to assist in future Chinese submarine operations.
The vessel’s appearance off Australia’s coast throws a spotlight on national security as an election issue, and comes just weeks after the government learned from a Virgin Australia pilot about a live-fire exercise by Chinese naval vessels in the Tasman Sea.
Speaking on the hustings in Perth, Mr Albanese said the Australian Defence Force was “monitoring what is happening” with the Chinese ship.

From The Oz. Any of the bush lawyers on this blog care to explain what options this country has? I do realise that sinking said ship, with all hands, is not an option.

As always, he is working steadily on the Trumble agenda and as always, Australia’s interests are not part of his

There seems to have been a consistent pro-China approach, ever since he switched from the Labor party to the S F Liberals

A Supreme Court judge has given the green light to a trust left by multi-millionaire philanthropist Millie Phillips to promote Jewish pride, declaring Australian Jews are “in need of protection” and anti-Semitism must be eliminated.
Judge James Hmelnitsky late last week ruled a portion of the reported $62m estate of Phillips, once Australia’s richest woman, would be used as a charitable trust to help galvanise a “vulnerable section of the community” in circumstances where Jewish Australians are “under threat”.
“The evidence demonstrates that there is an acute social need to combat anti-Semitism, not just for the benefit of the Jewish community but the Australian community as a whole,” he wrote.
“So far as the Jewish community is concerned, there is a profound interest in combating anti-Semitism and seeking to eliminate it. The evidence shows that the Jewish community is a vulnerable group in need of protection.”
The former chair of the International Mining Corporation, known widely as “the Nickel Queen”, died in 2021, after spending three years in a nursing home following a stroke.
Having escaped the Holocaust, she dedicated her time to supporting Israel, the Jewish people and other community charities.

Oz and China have both signed UNCLOS, the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Therefore unless the ship approaches to within 12 nautical miles of our coast, none.

She has the right of free passage.

If a ship was to be commercial fishing then that would allow armed force boarding. Or similarly engaged in other operations such as mining prospecting.

We could go and be a nuisance – eg: get in front of it and slow down; or cross its bows etc, but then accidents happen.

Predicted 40 years ago – and they will still not fight!

a society stands on the brink of internal collapse, beset by invaders it is in no way armed to fight. its government is hopelessly corrupt, venal, kleptocratic, and arrays itself against the interests of the people in service of the oligarchic interests of self-styled “elites.” violence rises, totalitarian rule impends (or already pertains), and the people are ill equipped to resist the main force of power to which no truth may be spoken, much less lived.

Calli Yesterday – on eating humble pie:

Those who are rushing to celebrate the protests in Gaza need to consider that they are most likely nothing but a show by the Iran-backed Hamas to fool the world into thinking that there is an uprising against the terrorist group.

After all, this is the same Hamas that kept signaling to everyone, years before its terrorists attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, that it was not interested in another round of fighting. Then it murdered and brutally tortured 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped 251.

  • According to some reports, Hamas members have been spotted leading some of Gaza’s demonstrations.

Today’s Daily Tele:

OUR CLASSIC SIGNS OF AN ELECTION IN PROGRESS

TIM BLAIR
1 Apr 2025

The faint rustling of cardigans. A soft shuffle of Scrabble letters. The nearly-audible yearning for visits from great-grandchildren.

These are all signs of frantic activity among the Friends of the ABC – or ABC Friends, as the group is now known following a 2014 coup against definite articles and prepositions. The Friends have become energised by the coming federal election, which they see as a threat to their otherwise-unwatched billion-dollar broadcasting buddy.

“The stakes are high for the ABC in this election,” ABC Friends president Cassandra Parkinson – a Balmain resident, as required by Friends law – wrote in an email to her elderly team.

“We must remind our political representatives that people across Australia care about the ABC’s future.

“You, our 77,000 members and supporters, are a powerful group who can tell them that the ABC must be properly funded.

“That it must remain free to access, with no ads and no subscriptions. And that we vehemently oppose any attempt to sell it off.”

As The Australian reports, such an attempt isn’t actually happening.

Sadly. But an ABC fear-fest is now common during election campaigns, along with various other colourful customs and conventions, including:

The disrespecting of the corflutes:

Islamic anti-Labor agitators got things rolling on this front with multiple attacks on signs promoting government frontbencher and Western Sydney MP Tony Burke. Matters subsequently escalated, as Joe Hildebrand reported this week.

In Mosman, a blonde woman was caught on security video deploying a stick of lipstick to deface a poster for Warringah teal MP Zali Steggall.

Hilariously, and appropriately for that area of Sydney, the vandal then realised she had used a far fancier lippy than intended.

“S–t, was it a Chanel?” the woman howled, asking her offsider: “Why did you let me do that?”

Possibly because she was all out of Yves Saint Laurent Loveshine Candy.

But at least those corflutes remained in place, unlike one for Victorian Liberal candidate Amelia Hamer. Hers was spirited away by a fellow who turned out to be the husband of chief teal lady Dr Monique Ryan, who, along with over-supportive hubby Peter Jordan, later apologised.

The triennial foreign astonishment:

Every election year, an overseas media outlet will run a piece explaining compulsory voting to its confused readers.

Their bewilderment is understandable. After all, it hardly makes sense that Australians get fined for not voting – but we can campaign, cast a ballot and stand for the Greens without even the slightest risk of imprisonment.

The declaration of importance:

Nobody ever dismisses an election as “ordinary”, “run of the mill”, “average”, “boring” or “Logies night”.

Every election is always a crucial turning point for our people.

The same is true in 2025. “On 3 May, you choose the way forward,” Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said in his election announcement. “Your vote has never been more important.”

Sky News’s Outsiders host Rowan Dean agreed, but from an opposing viewpoint, saying on Sunday: “This is quite literally the most important election of our lives.”

To be fair, Rowan backed up that perennial claim with substantial evidence. Search for “Race to save Australia” on Sky’s YouTube channel.

The underdog proclamation:

No government or opposition wants to be the overdog. When it comes to canine political positioning, coveted underdog status is craved by all.

So while polls suggest a current Labor advantage, Coalition home affairs spokesman James Paterson quickly turned this into a bonus.

“What these polls show is that the next election is going to be close,” Paterson told a TV interviewer on Monday. “That’s what polls have shown for the best part of a year. It shows that the Coalition are underdogs.”

The vests of fluorescence and the hats of hardness:

You’ll see them in abundance from now until polling day. Liberal leader Peter Dutton went for the fluoro look while visiting the Cougar mining equipment plant in Newcastle on Monday, during which he tried to wrench the nuts off some nearby machinery.

Which is also what he’s trying to do to the Labor government.

The one peculiar thing that nobody really understood at the time, but everyone remembers:

It hasn’t happened yet during this year’s campaign, but brace for something along the lines of former Labor leader Bill Shorten’s 2016 polling booth bid to eat a sausage in a long bread roll.

Inexplicably, Shorten – who very nearly toppled then-prime minister Malcolm Turnbull in that election – went at his sausage roll sideways.

He was either unaware of sausage protocols or else was concerned about the optics. Still, Shorten’s oddly-angled chomp will always be part of Australia’s election heritage.
