A young lady in the top 5% of American earners wore a $100K dress to $30 000+ a ticket fashion gala in NYC overnight.

The dress was adorned with the slogan ‘Tax the Rich’.

It’s Uccello, Dover. He did lots of battle scenes (Battle of San Romano most famous), a lot of perspective studies and foreshortening.

The paintings seem to swirl with action and entice you in. Even his more two dimensional works are fascinating, borrowing from the medieval with an energetic Renaissance flavour.

I have never understood these “kill off nan & pop & get their assets” laws.
If you want to top yourself, do it.
All this bizarre shit of having some panel of people approve & endorse your choice to top yourself just doesn’t compute.
& then to suck up resources in a hospital to actually do it.

From the NSW COVID update.

NSW has recorded 1127 new locally acquired Covid-19 cases and two deaths in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

Of the deaths, one was a man in his 50s from western Sydney who died at Concord Hospital and the other was a woman in her 80s from western Sydney who died at Ryde Hospital.

The man had received one dose of a Covid vaccine just three days before testing positive and did not have any underlying health conditions.

The woman in her 80s had received one dose of a Covid vaccine and has underlying health conditions.

So is the chap including in the COVID numbers, the adverse vaccine numbers, or both.

Things a vaccine passport doesn’t do:
– Stop you from getting COVID
– Stop you from spreading COVID to vaccinated and unvaccinated people
– Stop you from testing positive to COVID
– Stop you from completing two weeks quarantine should you test positive
– Allow you to travel interstate by plane if you test positive
– Allow you to visit a pub, restaurant or sporting match, if you test positive
– Excuse your participation in mandated lockdowns, curfews or outdoor movement restrictions

Things a vaccine passport does do:
– Shows your tacit endorsement of a two-tiered society divided by privilege
– Allows you to indulge in moral righteousness at the expense of your fellow citizens
– Allows State and Federal government to monitor and regulate your medical status and health directive compliance in perpetuity and in real time.

Anyone who thinks there’s going to be a change in the governor’s mansion in California is delusional.

Hey, it’s just an equipment issue. No biggie at all.

Some San Fernando Valley voters think they are being wrongly prevented from casting a ballot in the upcoming gubernatorial recall election, but the county elections office said it was an equipment issue that was resolved.

At El Camino Real Charter High School in Woodland Hills, some voters say they were told the computers showed them as already having voted, even though they had not.

West Hills resident Estelle Bender, 88, said she was far from the only person who was being told incorrectly that they had already voted.

Could be a big deal if enough suppliers are stiffed as well.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/sep/09/china-property-market-evergrande-300bn-debt-share-slump

The online market trading platform IG said Evergrande posed “a risk of contagion” after Bloomberg reported that Credit Suisse and Citibank were no longer accepting the bonds of another highly indebted Chinese property developer, Fantasia, as collateral.

There were also reports from China on Wednesday of employees protesting outside the company’s offices about salaries not being paid. Evergrande claims to employ 200,000 people and indirectly generate 3.8 million jobs in China.

The company has run up liabilities totalling more than $300bn, after years of borrowing to fund rapid growth and a string of real estate acquisitions as well as other assets including a Chinese football team.

But the firm has struggled to service its debts and a crackdown on the property sector by Beijing has made it even harder to raise cash, fuelling concerns it will go bankrupt.

The value of new home sales has fallen 20% in China since the peak in the first three months of this year, and the value of land sales are also sharply down. Along with Beijing’s tougher regulation, these factors have made it much harder for Evergrande to dispose of unsold properties even with huge discounts.

Exactly, Arky. This isn’t about people wanting the ‘right’ to die. It’s about compelling other people in hospitals and nursing homes to tale part in killing them, and compelling the taxpayer to pay for it.

Speaking of the taxpayer, the ABC is getting in a lather about anonymous donors contributing to Porter’s legal fees. Well we all know who pays the ABC’s legal costs, and the private legal costs of its privileged hacks and hackettes such as Milligan, don’t we? The poor bloody taxpayer again.

Hutt River Province borders set to stay shut after land sold to local farmers while ATO waits on proceeds
Jenne Brammer and Neale PriorThe West Australian
Tue, 14 September 2021 12:53PM

The self-proclaimed Hutt River Province micro-nation at Northampton has been bought by a local farming family and is unlikely to re-open as a tourism destination.

Proceeds from the sale are expected to be claimed by Canberra over Federal taxes that the late Prince Leonard Casley refused to pay between 2005 and 2013 because of his self-proclaimed monarch status.

Sources says the Hutt River Province land, about 40km north-west of Northampton, has sold for less than the $3.3 million-plus being claimed by the Australian Taxation Office on the strength of judgments and caveats.

Although the name of the buyer has not been released, it is understood to be an established farming family that had operated in the district for many decades.

The 6100ha grain and sheep property became an independent principality 51 years ago when eccentric farmer Mr Casley evoked a provision in the Magna Carta and announced he was seceding from Australia.

His push into politics and tourism came after a stoush with Federal and State officials over wheat production quotas.

Although the Commonwealth has never legally recognised the 75sqkm Hutt River as a sovereign state, Mr Casley declared himself prince of the micro-nation until abdicating in favour of his son, Graeme in 2017.

But Prince Graeme and other family members have been left with a limited legacy thanks to Prince Leonard’s battles with the ATO over the unpaid tax bills.

Landgate records show the tax office lodged a sweeping caveat over the land in May 2019, three months after Prince Leonard’s death.

The caveats claims the ATO is entitled to pull out $2.77m, plus interest, clocking up since June 2016.

The caveat claim cites a series of WA Supreme Court and Court of Appeal decisions against Prince Leonard over his Australian tax status.

In a June 2017 decision, Justice Rene Le Miere blasted the concept of Hutt River being Australia’s oldest micro-nation.

Upholding the $2.77m-plus debt ruling against Prince Leonard, Justice Le Miere said anyone could declare themselves a sovereign in their own home but “they cannot ignore the laws of Australia or not pay tax”.

With tourism supplementing the farm business, Hutt River Province was forced to shut its borders when COVID-19 restricted visitors.

Tropical cyclone Seroja in April decimated buildings at the heart of the property, including its church, museum, post office and accommodation facilities.

Fresh from recreating the iconic strap on scene in 7even with the AIDs riddled body of the Star Wars franchise Hollyweird has decided another iconic old series needs to be ass-raped by Kathleen Kennedy.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge* may flip the script on Indiana Jones.

The English actress, 37, could be replacing Harrison Ford as the lead in the fifth installment of the “Indiana Jones” franchise, which is set to hit theaters next summer, according to The Daily Mail.

Sources told the outlet that producer Kathleen Kennedy was looking to make “big” changes — which could include replacing the lead character with a woman.

“It would be a huge statement, and a great role for Phoebe,” one insider told the Mail.

It was announced earlier this year that the “Fleabag” star had been cast opposite 79-year-old Ford in the film, the name of which has not yet been revealed.

The iconic franchise has starred Ford as the lead since the first film, “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” was released in 1981.

It’s not clear who Waller-Bridge’s will portray in the upcoming movie, but a source told the Mail, “The gossip on the set is that this character will slot into the leading role.”

The project has long been delayed, and was pushed off again this summer after Ford injured his shoulder while shooting a fight scene.

Has lesson been learned from defence debacles?

ROBERT GOTTLIEBSEN

When Defence Minister Peter Dutton and Foreign Affairs Minister Marise Payne visited Indonesia, India and South Korea there was one subject that each of the three regional nations would have had difficulty raising – the fact that Australia is squandering around $400bn on three massive defence equipment purchases that add little to regional security.

Just as bad, we are being hoodwinked into becoming almost totally dependent on overseas supplies to maintain whatever contribution this equipment may make.

Most of the Dutton-Payne discussions would have been on regional issues like Covid-19, the role of the US, the rise of China encompassing the Australia-China trade war and the dangers in the South China Sea and Taiwan.

In an era when the region may need to rely less on US defence power, the ability of Australia to spend such vast sums could have been a major plus for the region. Instead, the submarine, frigate and Joint Strike Fighter/F-35 programs show the region that we lack clear direction in defence and, long term, cannot be relied on for meaningful help.

But during the Dutton and Payne regional tour a first step in overcoming the disasters was actually taken by Treasurer Josh Frydenberg when he declared: “There will be times when we must pay a ‘premium’ to protect our economy and ensure our long-term economic resilience. It is also the case that Australian businesses will need to enhance their own resilience.”

Frydenberg was addressing Australian enterprises and consumers. His second step must be to give the government and particularly the defence department the same instructions to set Australia back on a path towards being a better contributor to regional defence.

The need for a local industrial base was underlined in World War II and we built significant capacity in the decades that followed.

Accordingly both the Collins submarines and the first frigates built in Australia used extensive Australian components. Then foolish people in Treasury and Defence decided that they should source vital equipment around the world at the best price. We contracted with three overseas-based prime operators to design and build the three big projects – the JSF (the US), the submarines (the French) and the frigates (Britain). In each case the design process has had little relationship to total cost and to local suppliers.

The Joint Strike Fighter has some local content but in all three cases the overseas prime contractor was anxious to button their local supply chain into the projects. They argued their supply chain will provide equipment at much lower cost. They also designed the frigates, submarines and JSF with specifications that gave their local supply chains an advantage.

In the pandemic we have been taught a valuable lesson because we are finding it difficult to access supplies and naturally the container shippers are ripping us off with huge charges. But that’s nothing to what will happen if there is a serious rise in tensions in the region.

When we decided that an industrial base no longer mattered we began step by step to dismantle fast segments of it. Frydenberg now understands the cost of this mistake.

We are going to need the defence industry to help us rebuild that base. But we will need to make sure this time round that we do not allow bad work practices to unnecessarily boost the costs and we must take advantage of modern technology.

Meanwhile there is actually encouragement from Peter Dutton.

The giant submarine fiasco will cost in the vicinity of $150bn to build and operationally will head towards a total cost of $300bn. By the time we have an operational fleet in 2040 and beyond the technology being developed in China makes this huge investment a waste of money. At some point the Australian community must be told the truth by whichever party wins the next election.

It will be easier for the ALP to do it but I suspect the Coalition is also prepared face the truth. We could have taken the project to the manufacturing stage but it is still in design.

It would have been a lot cheaper to cancel the contract now but the electoral implications were too great. It can still be cancelled after the election at a higher cost but it’s a token outlay compared to the hundreds of billions set to be squandered.

In the case of the frigates we thought we were buying an already designed vessel but instead we are trying to design a new one that’s running into all sorts of bother. The British want to use their supply chain.

The prime contractor will not admit it but senior American defence chiefs now know that the JSF is a failure and we have to help them devise a way around the problem and in the process this time make sure there is more Australian content.

The key to previous defence projects was that we had an Australian prime contractor that kept control of the exercise to make sure it could be integrated into the local industry. We need to go back to that style.

There is not much good that will come out of the pandemic but if it teaches the nation the need for an industrial base given our isolation then there will be at least some benefit.

The problem with huffing and puffing about Australia’s ‘Defence Industry,’ is that it is as much a farce and a rort as the bugmen who order it.

Take it from a former End-User whose basics (boots, pack, load-bearing equipment) was so crap he bought his own, only to then suddenly have COMCARE arbitrarily ban all non-issued magazine pouches and load-bearing equipment for some 4-5 years because it somehow caused live ball ammunition to get mixed in with blank ammunition on a Reserve excercise in Victoria, and diggers got hurt. The risk assessment and controls was too hard.

If buying something off the shelf means it isn’t shit (e.g. Virginia/Astute SSNs or Apaches or current-spec Blackhawks), then do it. And make sure you have competent third-party suppliers in Oz who can make the spares and even whole products afterwards.

But sadly, not too many companies outside of Thales (Lithgow Arms, the Bushmaster PMV plant, all our munitions, etc.) and General Dynamics (M1A1 Abrams and ALSAV support) or Boeing (FA-18A and F, Wedgetail, C17, P8, A330 MRTT maintenance, etc.) seem to be able to do the jobs demanded of them. Which is particularly bad for us, given that our geography demands capable naval and aviation capabilities to put down/pick up boots on the ground and keep the sealanes open…

It reminded me of the Joni Mitchell song, but also this. 😀

Doc, spent some of my childhood round Liverpool. Had relatives there till they started the move further SW, most now around Camden. I know Cabramatta as well, the Viet community is very strong there as well as other South East Asians like Cambodians, Lao’s and some Thais. These people never forget too, if you take a train ride along the line from Liverpool to Granville just past the Cabravale Club there is a house still flying the RVN flag, I have seen it elsewhere too within the suburb. I was last there 18 months ago.

I was waiting for the backlash and it didn’t take long. I don’t think she will meet with the same fate as John Newman but the factions round there will damage her in other ways and we are already seeing the leaks coming. Is it me or is the ALP doing it’s darndest to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory???

Calli, I’ve been thinking a lot about that lately…..I’ve often wondered how it happened and now I know.
I now know how revolutions begin

In 2020 everyone was ordered into their houses, a revolution was staged, the internationalist public health class overthrew the bureaucratic class and fundamentally transformed society and now you must pass a loyalty test to join their post-revolutionary technocrat data-driven mass surveillance society.

The biggest black pill is they haven’t lied once about it. In March last year I first read the words “New Normal” and articles explaining that what was happening- which politicians were pretending was temporary – wasn’t going to officially end until 2022 with mandatory vaccines and ‘passports’ and digital ids and permanent contact tracing and them reigning supreme forever.

There are roadmaps and policy documents and WHO guidelines and orders that all public health departments all over the world are operating off and have been since Feb 2020. Nothing is happening off the cuff, everything is being implemented when certain societal ‘markers’ are reached in each country.

They’ve never lied, it’s always been so clear where we are going.

But it’s not over yet.

Every revolution has to do something the guard against the counter-revolution. The reactionaries always have to be taken care of before they can mount a response.

One of Australia’s big four banks has undergone a major logo change to encourage the uptake of vaccinations nationwide.

The National Australia Bank will on Friday launch a marketing campaign to help increase vaccination rates and will change its logo from NAB to JAB.

It’s not the first time the bank has spoken up to encourage people to get the jab. In August, NAB announced it was working with the department of health and its regular flu provider to inoculate employees at work.

The name change comes after chief executive Ross McEwan threw the bank’s weight behind vaccine passports as the ticket out of lockdowns.

Speaking to the House Standing Committee on Economics, Mr McEwan said Australia must have a system ready to go when the nation reaches the government’s 80 per cent vaccination target.

He argued Australians deserved to have more detail on what specific restrictions will be lifted once the nation hits the elusive target around mid to late November.

“European countries have provided this by implementing a vaccine pass, which gives people freedom to attend restaurants, sporting events, major concerts and domestic travel,” Mr McEwan said.

“Australia needs its own national vaccine pass, providing similar freedoms, ready to launch when we reach 80 per cent.

“This should be developed alongside existing plans for an international vaccine passport for Australians to prove their immunisation status overseas and on their return to Australia.”

The ticket out of lockdowns, you stupid self aggrandising fuck knuckle, is to repeal those odious Public Health Acts.

How woke mobs have left cops too scared to police Minneapolis since George Floyd’s death: Traffic stops have plunged 74% and problem area patrols by 76% because cops fear being unfairly targeted in viral videos – while crime has soared

In-depth analysis shows policing plunged in Minneapolis starting last June
Traffic stops dropped 74% and and foot patrols plunged 69%
Cops were apparently reluctant to engage after furor over George Floyd’s death
Some even slow down their response to calls in hopes suspects will leave first
But fewer stops meant fewer people being searched for drugs and guns
Residents say the city has become a ‘gangster’s paradise’ for criminals
Murders in Minneapolis are on track to reach a 20-year high

I have searched the Public Health Act 2010 (NSW) & the Public Health Regulation 2012 (NSW) – and also the Public Health (COVID-19 Gathering Restrictions) Order (No 2) 2021 (NSW) and Public Health (COVID-19 Safety) Order 2021 (NSW)…and finally the Public Health (COVID-19 Additional Restrictions for Delta Outbreak) Order (No 2) 2021 (NSW).

There is no legal authority so far for “Health Passports” (but they have been effectively forced on other industries).

They just ASSUME that they can make the order legally, and with no opposition.

This will get a lot more resistance than what we see now.

Reading lotza stuff regarding KK hovering over Fowler and other than a bit of media interest wondering why anyone cares? I’ve lived in Fairfield for over 30 years and for 28 of them was in McMahon held always by Labor and I’ve NEVER once come across anything that the sitting member has done that made any difference .. the effort seems to consist of a coupla tax-payer funded glossy brochures resplendent with the turtle’s pix a coupla times a year + a tax-payer funded Chrissie card .. end of story!
The only thing I can remember Labor doing that benefited McMahon was build a swimming pool in 1993 but even then it wasn’t the local member’s initiative it was Paul Keating doling out free pools Oz-wide trying to solve the recession-we-had-to-have that he created … LOL!
Been in Fowler since the last redistribution (last street in the electorate on the Parramatta side LOL!) and until this KK publicity and I couldn’t recall the name my local member until earlier this week when I saw it in print ..
Basically, I couldn’t care less which party puts who up for election because three days after it’s all forgotten until glossy brochures/Chrissie cards times roll around …
There may be some folk lucky enuf to live in electorates where the sitting member gets something or other dun but not when you live in, hereditary, Labor fiefdoms like MCMahon or Fowler .. the vote is guaranteed and they know they can enjoy the trough until the next one rolls around ……….
