thank you for sharing your story and for pointing out the difference between what you did to your younger self and how it almost destroyed you, with the now potential destruction of our young, not because of anything that they have done, but because of what is being done to them by their own government(s).

It sickens me when the media portray the protesters as hooligans. Many are just average people like me who were there. I spoke to a 60 year old mum who was there with her son. A man who came down from the country. People who just want to be able to go to work, live their lives and not be forced to be vaxxed.
The footage of the elderly lady being knocked down and pepper sprayed should be the end of Andrews and Patton. But it won’t. It won’t even be eating at their conscious.

This song will forever remind me of the day my grandmother died. As newlyweds my grandparents had a farm in western NSW and went through the severe drought of the late 1930s. They moved into town in the early 1950s and had a retail business but Nan always had farming on her mind.

The media language is always amusing. When it’s a protest they approve of (BLM, Socialist Alliance, unions) the report starts with “Police clash with protesters…” but when it’s a protest they disapprove of, the report starts with “Protesters clash with police…”
Honestly though, the juxtaposition of the very same police forces who carefully babysat and protected ‘protestors’ gluing themselves to the roads in the CBD at peak hour for weeks on end, now ‘blocking in’ and unleashing violence of thousands of people who just want to walk down a road on a Saturday arvo.

Every town has one. They are generally accessible, but also have easy egress. Most are surrounded by parkland. There is no reason that everyone on a Saturday might decide to visit the family graves, at precisely the same time. It’s something many promise to do, but it seldom happens.
It might also provide a collective reflection about what those that lay beneath our feet might think of the current predicament.

Some good news to report to Cats.
Mostly the coppers in regional Australia aren’t hassling people. The plod are just going about their day to day stuff. In fact, they have very low visibility, if not being completely invisible altogether.

Today could have been completely different. The Police should have waved the protesters through, and in fact, walked with them. Their job should have been to make sure no private or public property got smashed up. End of story.
If any protesters had started smashing shit up or burning it, then I would be 100% for a swift Police reaction. The majority of protesters would have helped/applauded them sorting out the rioters.
But it didn’t pan out that way. This “us against them” mentality is rife now. It could have been so easily avoided.
