I agree with the slippery slope argument, and it started long ago.
When people are presented with an opportunity to stand up against tyranny and they shirk that patriotic duty we all live with the outcomes.
And that is exactly what happened in Canberra on a winters day ten years ago.
A man leading a convoy of protest had an opportunity to be a beacon of hope for this country but, confronted by Federal Police waving nothing more than black broomsticks, he turned and fled.
Our current malaise can be traced back to that seminal moment in Australian history.

Projecting sin onto others is not what conversion is
By Philippa Martyr -October 16, 2021

I’ve just finished reading how one Catholic educator said that a Church called to conversion should focus on changes in governance, formation, inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people; include more women in leadership and promote an integral ecology of life.

I was left with the impression that for this speaker, personal conversion involved either joining a committee, or creating a compost heap at home. Possibly both.

decades of poor catechesis have left many Australian Catholics – including very smart and educated ones – with a Jesus who looks exactly like #ThingsJesusNeverSaid. (Try googling that, and you’ll see what I mean).

So we’re now in a Church where we are called to ‘repent’ of things we didn’t do personally – like colonialism and industrial pollution.

Philippa has recognised a great failing in how many view faith. So did Lewis:

What we want, if men become Christians at all, is to keep them in the state of mind I call ‘Christianity And’. You know—Christianity and the Crisis, Christianity and the New Psychology, Christianity and the New Order, Christianity and Faith Healing, Christianity and Psychical Research, Christianity and Vegetarianism, Christianity and Spelling Reform. If they must be Christians let them at least be Christians with a difference. Substitute for the faith itself some Fashion with a Christian colouring.”

Depends where you are. In WA it IS possible (just, barely, allegedly) to get a self-loader if you can convince the boys in blue that (a) you have a NEED for it, and (b) you have a reason; e.g. a physical disability that precludes manual operation. As for power, here you MIGHT get approval for a .338, but that’s about it; and even that’s dodgy AF. Were it I, I’d have a .308/7.62 for preference. Accurate enough to hit an A2-sized target out to 900 yards, the ammo is as common as muck and there is a v-a-s-t range of projectiles of varying weights and formats for reloading. And speaking of reloading, a tin of 2208 or 2206H goes a lot further with your .308 than refuelling the latest bigboremagnumthumper500.

Kishida Cautious about Ratifying U.N. Nuke Ban Treaty

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Wednesday reiterated his cautious stance toward Japan’s proposed ratification of the U.N. Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

He was responding to a question from Akira Koike, head of the Secretariat of the Japanese Communist Party, at a plenary meeting of the House of Councillors, the upper chamber of the Diet, Japan’s parliament.

“What Japan should do as the only country hit by atomic bombs is to join the treaty and urge nuclear weapons states to abolish nuclear arms,” Koike said.

Good to see a Yank politician read my piece on taxing the rich and has taken to heart some of the lessons…
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/stop-treating-left-wing-advocacy-groups-like-charities-opinion/ar-AAPsPl9
While theoretically dedicated to charity, the president of the Ford Foundation, Darren Walker, has been on the board of some of America’s largest and wealthiest corporations, and collects well over $1 million a year in various forms of compensation. Meanwhile, the foundation he runs possesses $16 billion of assets. Left-wing activism pays very well, it turns out, so long as it’s packaged as charity.

The Ford Foundation is hardly alone. It is merely one fish in an ocean of endowments and foundations dedicated to left-wing causes. Others include the Gates Foundation, the Macarthur Foundation and the Harvard university endowment. Taken together, they represent well over $1 trillion in wealth, and that wealth is deployed in almost exclusively partisan ways..
…..
It is against this backdrop that I proposed we tax the assets of these foundations, and shrink their size over time. Most fundamentally, it’s the fair thing to do. It’s preposterous that my middle-class aunt pays a higher tax rate than the $41 billion Harvard endowment. But the power of these institutions also creates a massive left-wing bias at the heart of our society. The Left has stashed a trillion-dollar war chest and protected it from ever paying a nickel in tax. There is no comparable right-wing institution, no similar preference created for conservatives.

Who says the cat isnt ahead of the curve.

While JC has a point about those who start with nothing and build a business empire (much as I loathe the Gates and Zuckers of this world), there is absolutely no case for tax exemptions for multi-generational “foundations” and “charities”.

A US joke is that Harvard is an investment fund with a sideline in education.

We note the submission from Rosie.
But yes, as far as I’m aware you have to have a covid test to go over a state border, which in itself should be opposed.
But I note, that’s not even considered, as so too will the jab, it’ll be just part of the life of slaves, and the process and the extra things you will have to do further on.
Truckies have to be jabbed to cross the border so do you think others can just waltz in?
Which is how this all progresses since it was two weeks to flatten the curve, which should have had murderous crowds falling upon parliament house that very day.
As if getting the jab, (which will of course bring in the passport that all the sneering fuckheads here said was conspiracy theory) will help you see your elderly relatives or even cross state borders in the future…..but it will help tyrannize them.
Can you get into WA from NSW fully jabbed?
There has to be sacrifice now, to stand our ground now, to not make it worse for our loved ones.
Next, because of mass submission comes compulsory jabs and then watch the elderly croak it.
This is killing people, and getting a jab to visit your aged parents won’t do them or everybody else,s aged parents any good in the long run.
So I put it back on Knuckles.
And all of this is a morals/ responsibility question that we all have to consider.
Is it ok that you all submitted making the next step of compulsory vaccinations to enter food shops etc, easier, thereby killing my and other’s old parents with the death jab?
Right back at the start when it would have been easier to stop this people here know I tried to organise things , not only did I get no takers, I was abused for doing so.
So now look at the moral dilemma you’ve got yourself in.
But that’s ok, abuse me for being a hick, as you perceive me.
Shoot the bastard who is holding the mirror up.
But I’m just a realist.
You’ve made it so much worse for your families and mine and everyone else’s.
Submission to tyranny does not get you out of tyranny, but as you all know underneath, but hate being told, it increases tyranny.

LIBERTY QUOTE
The loss of the religious understanding of the human condition—that Man is a fallen creature for whom virtue is necessary but never fully attainable—is a loss, not a gain, in true sophistication. The secular substitute—the belief in the perfection of life on earth by the endless extension of a choice of pleasures—is not merely callow by comparison but much less realistic in its understanding of human nature.

If you want something with a bit of historical flair, look at the No.4 Mk1:

The action is highly reliable, far exceeds that of most modern hunting rifles.

The .303 round is potent and old stock is available with all sorts of useful projectiles.

The sights are excellent, real battle sights, fast target acquisition plus accurate.

No.1 Mk.III in my opinion is no where near as good because of the sights. Accurate for target shooting but to post is to fine for real world use.

Queensland

Restrictions

Any person arriving from Queensland is permitted to enter South Australia without restriction as long as they have not been in a restricted zone in the past 14 days. In this case, they would be subject to that zone’s restrictions.

All travellers coming to South Australia must first complete a Cross Border Travel Registration. Travellers must complete a separate Cross Border Travel Registration for each person in the travelling party including all children.

Providing you aren’t in a Red Zone (I am not sure, but I think rural Queensland is all green), it is just a matter of filling out a form with name, address, email, phone number and a statement about where you have been for the last two weeks.
As far as I can see, no vax, no test, no big deal.

Geez, adrenaline and ego are a tough combination to switch off mid-stream!

I was just at a local cafe, waiting patiently in line, when a customer with his hands full was leaving, so I stepped out of line about four paces to open the door for him. The young couple directly behind me stepped in to order. I went back and positioned myself in the bloke’s peripheral vision, to let him know that I hadn’t left the cafe and was next in line. Nope. Bloke looked at me and continued ordering. I waited for them to finish, made my order, and as I walked past them told the bloke he needed to have some manners and respect for others. ‘Oh, but I was talking to me mate, I didn’t see ya, what? What?’ I told him that I was in his direct view as I stood to open the door open for the other customer, and then returned. More excuses. Girlfriend chimes in. Blah, Blah. ‘You just need some manners,’ says Muddy. Both start being smartarses. Muddy starts to swear (a sign he’s losing control). Stranger steps in and says stop swearing in front of my kid. Fair enough. Muddy apologises to strange bloke. Young couple continues. Young smartarse see copper walking up to get his lunch and says “This bloke is harassing us because I wouldn’t open the door.” ‘Ummm, no,’ thinks Muddy. Copper looks at Muddy and says “Walk away, mate.” Smartarse does the echo, now he has a protector: “Yeah, just walk away. Walk away mate.” Muddy looks at copper. Muddy is not happen and feels himself getting over-excited (it has been a challenging few weeks). Looks at smartarse who repeats “Just walk away, mate.” Muddy looks back at copper. Copper repeats instruction. O.K., decision time. Is it worth being arrested for, what, public disorder? Not really. Feckit. My ego wants to slash and burn, but no damage has been done to me, so I (very) reluctantly walk away. Young smartarse continues “Walk away, mate. Walk away. He and his girlfriend telling bystanders of their innocence. Breathe, Muddy. Breathe. Smart decision, but my ego is not happy. Not at all happy.

So, in the a.m., get up, go to the mosque, listen to a sermon about bow and arrow man in Norway doing good deeds for Allah and set off in righteous zeal . Wander past a church and notice the gathering inside. Assume it’s Christian dogs worshiping their false deity. Head inside and the man seated at the table and receiving all the attention is obviously the Christian imam so make him your target.

feminist thought is a gateway drug

Dickless uptickers is the proper term. Make it a meme. It is gender neutral. 🙂

One anti-vaxxer chasing me for two days with a total strawman, and the rest disallowing that I put considerable time into investigating and commenting on a piece of epidemiology that had gone seriously wrong in its reporting, turns me into some type of feminist thinker? How many of the dickless uptickers had actually done any analysis at all of the study? Precious few, I suspect. Gilas made the only really useful comment about it, re the NEJM and its decline in proper peer review, which I agreed with and had demonstrated with the cohort confusion that had occurred.

On Arky’s thread about ‘getting the Vaxx’, where shades of the old Catallaxy could be seen, where people knew each other and respected each other, CL suggested that Rosie and I might be ‘friends’ of the Cat and that some people could just lay off with the aggro.

I haven’t seen much evidence of that. Regarding myself, people I’ve never heard of pile on me for no really good reason, and yet the site sustains some serious ‘Bill Gates is out to murder us all’ conspiracy whackos, who in general I give their say to and don’t complain about. I genuinely believe in freedom of speech. And I do not believe in hounding people simply for the sake of it. And I am clearly on the record as being totally against mandatory vaxxations and lockdowns.

Just leave me alone with my birdies and my favorite rendition of Carrickfergus for dusk’s fall is what I am thinking now. It better than the one I linked the other night and a powerful reflection on life’s ending.

The only catch is that I do not entirely trust the Finn who provided the words.

There is supposed to have been an Australian correspondent, sent to interview the Israeli General, and politician, Ariel Sharon. In all innocence, he asked a Hebrew speaking colleague, the Hebrew for “Good morning, I hope your day is going well.”

At the interview, Sharon looked at him and said “You do realize what you told me was “Go and stick your head up a dead bear’s bum?”.”

I have the Finnish phonetics for “fsck off you fat female genitalia” written down somewhere.
The only catch is that I do not entirely trust the Finn who provided the words.

I can assist you with afrikaans for ‘ your mother f*cks for bus money’ …
if that would help?

I know how to say ‘bullshit’ in sign language, but that’s about it.
I might need sum edjahmuhcayshun.
I’m a little calmer now. Bit annoyed at myself for getting sucked in to the whole to-and-fro play, rather than just saying my piece and then walking away.
I’d really like to be able to walk around with a poleaxe. Tucked into the belt, of course. Nothing threatening about that. “It’s a therapy poleaxe, officer. You know, like a therapy dog?”

Regarding rude words in foreign languages, several years ago while holidaying in Sri Lanka I learned the local (Sinhalese) course name for female genitalia.

Here it is, and it’s right in the centre of Australia.

To misquote Marx…
Outside of a bear a book is a mans best friend.
Inside of a bear it’s too dark to read.

Go and stick your head up a dead bear’s bum

Olfactory assault.

then there is the story of a dead bullock on a highway that had spent several weeks in the sun AND a truck AND a combi van.

The dumb as a rock Somalian wasn’t attacking a Conservative MP.
He was attacking what he thought was a Christian minister.
But let’s ramp up the security for MPs.

Epilogue
We have a lot planned for the future – but first a brief comment about our ‘loss’ in the High Court. …

The loop holes (confidentiality and area of expertise) JCU escaped through are also easily plugged with legislation. If the Education Minister, Alan Tudge, and the NTEU act we go from partial defeat to complete victory on the principles, and reality, of free speech. It will not help me, but it will help other academics in the future. And I know of others in this predicament right now.

So take heart. This is not over. We did far better than it first appeared – on the principles of free speech at universities. JCU can take no solace from this decision.

However, let us look to the future. …

1. Is this aggression because I’m gay?
2. Why do you need to be so racist?
3. Why are you so mean to us transgenders?

Canada – Do not Comply

A truly uplifting speech to Rebel News during a huge demonstration in Calgary Canada. People who have experienced communism easily recognise what is happening and absolutely refuse to tolerate it again.

Please listen. This is exactly our experience.

Muddy been in the same position once or twice. Bravado stopped both times when told no probs I’ll be at “insert place” for the next half an hour if you want to continue tough guy.

Anything he says after that is inconsequential if he doesn’t show. Problem is when you pick someone who is a multiple dan black belt and takes up your offer. (Face with head bandage)

Some discussion above re Tempe, the southern half is really quite OK, it’s Sydenham that cops the flight path.

And in other news, I am now the proud bearer of a Covid-19 Vaccine Medical Contraindication certificate getting me off the hook for the jab until 17 Feb 2022, being six months after my positive covid diagnosis.
I will test it’s efficacy at the local later on today ?

Rick W.

The old .303 ammo with the big, copper-coloured primers certainly is Mercuric primed. It is also CHLORATE primed.

The Mercuric Fulminate is shock-sensitive, thus it starts the ignition process when the striker crushes the priming pellet between the cup and the anvil.

However, the old Cordite was a bit of a “slow-starter”, especially at low temperatures, so the (Potassium) Chlorate was added to increase “brissance” (fancy word for “flash”) to get the Cordite going.

The Mercuric Fulminate releases a hot vapour of metallic mercury as it reacts. THIS is what messes up the brass by effectively breaking the zinc / copper bonds and causing embrittlement.. It has NO effect on the steel in the barrel. HOWEVER, as the Chlorate does its thing, it produces CHLORIDE salts. Thus, it is a bit like shaking kitchen salt into your barrel. OK when it is hot and dry, but will attract ANY moisture from the air and you can just about hear the barrel rusting overnight.

Thus, the traditional method of cleaning barrels using “Mil-Spec” / “issue” .303 ammo was to simply pour boiling water from chamber to muzzle, (using the approved, issue funnel) until the water ran clear. The barrel would generally dry itself rapidly because of the heat absorbed by the steel, or you could wipe it out with a clean bit of 4 x 2 (flannelette, NOT timber) and then apply preserving oil.

Cordite-fueled .303 ammo may also be found to develop neck cracks in storage. This is because during manufacture, the Cordite “bundle” was inserted and topped by a “glazeboard” wad BEFORE the case was final-formed. Thus, there was NO “neck-annealing” after the stress of reforming a cylinder of brass into a tapered stepped cone to support the bullet.

The past is an interesting place.

Decided that I’m going to Centrelink on Monday, have never had any dealings with them before, bottom line is I want my $750 a week off these arseholes for preventing me from working.

The only alternative looks to be a life of crime. Hmmm. Needs thinking about.

So much to enjoy in this so very ABC story.

Woman, Covid, undeserved shame and stigma, musical artist, double-jabbed, trendy Sydney inner west (Is Tempe in Sydney’s inner west? Inner SYD western flight path, more accurately) and the evergreen ‘Calls for’.

FFS — talk about manufactured oppression.

White, middle class classical percussionist feeling too privileged, catches cold, announces it to the world along with some perceived handicap that accompanies it.

Will live in a bowl littered with floaters that need flushing. She’s one of them.

Got to love the article. 2/3 were fully vaxxed.

  1. Here is my first reply to your comment yesterday morning: I wasn’t referring to “your comment yesterday morning”. You made…

  2. Labour is not going well… https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GdBinRcXUAABgnR.jpg Farage has won a few more council seats in by-elections in the last couple…
