Dear Colonel Sneakers,
As the proud voter in a one-Party state, I will not allow the present crisis to go to waste. Please ask your team to report on how much small business benefits from WA Government regulation. Have them explain how compliance issues should be costed and where in the Government the small business person should present their bill for costs of compliance.
Then pass that info on to the small business sector.

Breaking news – the Andrews government will introduce their new Emergency Powers bill into the Lower House tomorrow, to be rammed through this week. And perhaps they will try to push it through the Upper House as well. A bill that as I type is still secret.

Normally a bill should be introduced and left to sit on the notice paper for two weeks before passing through the Lower House, and then sit for another two weeks before it comes to the Upper House. It would be extraordinary for them to try to push it through both houses in the same week the bill was first shown to the Victorian people.

This is the kind of behaviour you expect to see in a Banana Republic. Which should surprise nobody if they have been watching the government in action over the last 18 months.

Some people object to referring to the Premier as Dictator Dan. But sometimes, when the Jackboot fits, it has to be worn.

Maybe ScoMo should ask India for a few million doses of Covaxin.

One can only speculate as to what quid pro quo he would sign us up to in exchange, but two things are certain:

1. It would not be in our national interest.

2. The Nats would hold off on their support until offered another cabinet position.

Should be interesting watching Chairman Dan, as he realises the election is upon him, and he has a year to make nice with an electorate which has seen businesses collapse by up to 50% of their numbers, according to some analysts. In addition to that, you have all of the mental trauma of separated and divided families and groups in the cycle of the world’s longest lockdowns.

He has until 26 November 2022. Victoria has fixed terms. He has 55 out of 88 seats in the lower house at present.

Of course, actions like proroguing parliament, or dissolving it early somehow, are all in the mix.

Dear Colonel Sneakers,
Having grown up in the belief that Australia was a corruption-free paradise for ordinary decent citizens, I was a little alarmed by certain behaviour of Labor governments in the 1980s. Recent information has come to hand, suggesting that certain practices of that time were abandoned because better lurks have been found to spend one’s bagmen’s effort running.
To prevent the ignominy that is certainly coming the way of the only party in WA’s Parliament, you should pack several large envelopes with fine, used Australian 50-dollar bills, and have them delivered to

Does anyone remember Boy on a Bike?

Last time I heard of him was some years ago when he & Tim Blair got into a .. robust discussion… over traffic in the city & how bikes were faster coz: No waiting in traffic.
This triggered Mr. Blair into challenging Boab into a race across Sydney CBD.
Bicycle vs. performance street rod of Blair’s choice.

Haven’t heard anything since. Perhaps Blair, in a Mansell-style red mist, gunned it & taught all cyclists a lesson by running over Boab (bike included) or something, displeased having spent the allotted race time sitting hemmed in stagnant traffic, whilst Boab gaily freewheeled in for a several furlongs margin of win without even being puffed.

Dr John Wakefield PSM
Director-General
Queensland Health.

Extracts from a message from the above, dated today:

It is my obligation to ensure your safety in the workplace, the safety of your co-workers, patients and visitors and the community; this is why this Directive and Policy is in place; we know that vaccination against COVID-19 is highly effective and safe.

Getting vaccinated is the right thing to do. Staff have a legitimate expectation that they can be as safe as possible in the workplace, and if you are not vaccinated, you are putting yourself, your colleagues and patients at risk. In New South Wales and Victoria, we have seen the effects of transmission of COVID-19 to patients inside hospitals and the tragic outcomes for these people. We all have a duty to minimise this risk and I intend to take a very firm stance on this critical safety issue.

If you haven’t responded to calls to upload your vaccination details and have not applied for an exemption, then you are not compliant with the requirement to be vaccinated and from 1 November will not be able to enter a facility where care is provided to undertake your duties. You can expect to be notified in writing and maybe the subject of a discipline pathway.

My primary objective is to provide a safe workplace. I don’t want to be pursuing a disciplinary pathway. However, I will not hesitate to do so for staff who fail to comply with this reasonable condition of employment, in order to provide a safe workplace.

The time for “please” is gone. Get vaccinated—it is the right thing to do and this Directive will be enforced from 1 November.

I left Australia once on a private charter flight. The flight plan gets lodged and approved, then about 45 minutes before departure time some immigration staff drive up and check your passports.

No need to pick an aircraft that can go all the way in one stretch, one fuelling stop wouldn’t be to difficult and would also allow the pilots to stay in their hours.

One of the uncool fifteen years old boys was at our farm collecting a wild bee hive over the weekend.

“Any money in it?”

Military force arrests Sudanese PM, ministers in apparent coup
By Khalid Abdelaziz
Updated October 25, 2021 — 5.21pmfirst published at 2.01pm

Khartoum: Soldiers arrested most of the members of Sudan’s cabinet and a large number of pro-government party leaders on Monday in an apparent military coup, three political sources said.

The Information Ministry said “joint military forces” had arrested civilian members of the Sovereign Council and members of the government and had taken them to an undisclosed location.

The ministry said Prime Minister Abdulla Hamdok had been placed under house arrest in what it called a military coup.

It said the internet had been cut off and military forces closed bridges. The country’s state news channel played patriotic traditional music and scenes of the Nile river. The Umma Party, the largest political party, described the arrests as an attempted coup, and called on people to take to the streets in resistance, the AP reported. Earlier, the Sudanese Professionals’ Association, a group leading demands for a transition to democracy, issued a similar call.

Saef (noun)-
2. A catch-all term for increasingly restrictive and abusive limitations imposed on peoples’ freedoms of movement, association, employment and pursuit of satisfaction in life. Characterised by governmental paternalism, infantilisation of what little discussion and dissent is permitted on the matter, and a desperate, seemingly common desire to live life at its barest minimum as a preference to the possibility of (apparently) premature death.

There’s a huge difference between blogs and face to face meetings. You can’t leave stupid people at a blog , they /you just hang around.

I’m very polite to people I meet because frankly the people I’ve met I’ve liked. If there’s an occasion I don’t I move to another group or focus conversation with someone else.

Employees appear to like me because I’m decent and nice to them. I can’t ever recall someone leaving my employ unless they were let go for good reason.

I may have mentioned this some time ago. A lifetime back, one of the platoon commanders in my rifle company was a bloke by the name of Peter Tinley. He was a great big unit, markedly different to the inspid specimens we usually saw straight out of ADFA, and he was a fucking maniac.

A great platoon commander, by all accounts (he wasn’t mine) but he’d flog those poor blokes in his platoon senseless with PT, more PT, extra PT and additional PT. And rope climbing with full pack. All the time. We did enough of that as it was, but Tinley was next level.

He spent a pile of time in the Army, most of it in one form of SF or another, and now he’s a long-serving Labor pollie in WA. How, I will never know but someone told me years ago he went down the path of liaison office in other countries, or similar.

Apparently a good bloke. Never had adverse dealings with him. Vote for him? Fuck off, he was a lunatic when I knew him and I have no idea what his skill sets are outside of the ADF.

The only way we get herd immunity is to contract the virus. Which our idiot “protectors” have shielded us from for two years.

Not exactly -the “immunity only from contracting the virus” part. Apparently being relatively healthy and hanging around people who have contracted the virus seems to do the trick. Such as caring for a sick relative or, suprise, suprise exposed medical personnel like nurses. For example:

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-021-22036-z

“Here we report virus-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell memory in recovered COVID-19 patients and close contacts. …suggesting close contacts are able to gain T-cell immunity against SARS-CoV-2 despite lacking a detectable infection.”

Or, as there are voluminous studies demonstrating, have previously been exposed to the non-weaponised relative of SARS-Cov2. For example:

https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abd3871

“Several studies have reported that some people who have not been exposed to SARS-CoV-2 have preexisting reactivity to SARS-CoV-2 sequences….the preexisting reactivity against SARS-CoV-2 comes from memory T cells and that cross-reactive T cells can specifically recognize a SARS-CoV-2 epitope as well as the homologous epitope from a common cold coronavirus.”

Well, Hairy got up Foxtel Go on his big laptop and we watched Succession Series 3 Ep2 on that over the dinner table tonight. Screen size was ok if you imagined you were in business class on a plane. Turns out the kids are still a bit scared of dad. I thoroughly enjoyed it, as in previous series. Shiv reminds a lot of our daughter in corporate mode, very much a lookalike too, and Roman has echoes of my footloose second son, the eternal cool cynic with insecurities on show along with the helpless ambition. When they meet, sparks fly as their dislike for each other collides. The show is quite close to family life as we know it – at times. Part of its appeal for many I suspect.

We don’t mind paying for Foxtel as we enjoy Sky News, Outsiders, Bolt, Alan Jones – all regularly, and the History channel and occasional others. Our Foxtel Go is also used by my firstborn son and his non-live-in partner; it seems to have kept them together over the 12 years of their son’s life so far. We subscribe to other TV things one-off, only Netflix with an ongoing subscription.

Haven’t watched the ABC for years, although I did recently come across The Durrells on Corfu, which I greatly enjoyed; Hairy less so, he is less interested in English eccentrics than I am.

Today in 1854, the Charge of the Light Brigade occurred. Wiki:

Lord Raglan had intended to send the Light Brigade to prevent the Russians from removing captured guns from overrun Turkish positions, a task for which the light cavalry were well-suited.

However, there was miscommunication in the chain of command and the Light Brigade was instead sent on a frontal assault against a different artillery battery, one well-prepared with excellent fields of defensive fire.

Thankfully, lessons were learned and there were never any fucked-up communications between military commanders during a battle ever again. Also, someone always put their hand up and said ‘It was my fault’ after that.

This state of affairs also translated into politics, which is why things like hotel quarantine were so well-run.

The order that launched that charge is in the Imperial War Museum in London – I’ve seen it, and I’m of the opinion that no – one could read the staff officer’s handwriting. Also, when Lucan questioned his orders, Louis Nolan, who came from the commanding general, Raglan, and, as such, spoke with Raglan’s full authority, pointed down the valley and said “There my Lord, is your enemy. There are your guns!” Bit hard to argue with that!

Can we switch ScoMo with this bloke? Quotes Martin Luther King in Russian, better than Brandon in English! If not, we may be able to get his history changing numbered organisation to help us some hope-and-change. (apologies if it has been posted before. So some commentary about it, but not the vid)

Don’t blame me, I’m merely the Field Officer in Command. Naturally I follow the instructions of the CHO.

Newsdotcomdotau just carried a story today of a young person suffering a stroke from the vaccine.

One story at Newsdotcomdotau is not much better than news burial.

For months, there has been nothing like the coverage previously given to adverse reaction deaths and injuries.

Did you read the Virology Journal –From Virology Journal 2005, the official publication of Fauci’s National Institute of Health – of which Fauci is Director (?)
He had published an article that stated Chloroquine was a potent inhibitor of SARS coronavirus infection and spread.
He knew all along he was lying.
We need a Nuremberg II Trial.
Fauci is responsible for more deaths than Hitler and Stalin.

I actually appreciate that you, and others, are doing your best to keep things light and cool.

And I appreciate that.

But look at what PM ‘s and Premiers have done to the Australian People.

Yet you can focus on what Ricardo Bosi says and not see that The Premier of Victoria is going to shove through another draconian Emergency Act to keep his powers going until when?!

2024, 2028, 2032???

There is draconian crap happening.

Accused COVID breacher Riccardo Bosi calls Adelaide magistrate an ‘imbecile’ during phone hearing

Salvatore, Understaffed & Overworked Martyr to Border Closure

From the article:

A former Special Forces officer charged with breaching South Australian COVID rules has called an Adelaide magistrate an “imbecile” and a “traitor” during his hearing.

Magistrate Jack Fahey hung up on Riccardo Bosi, who appeared via phone from New South Wales on Monday.

“You have no standing, you are at worst a traitor and at best an imbecile, the truth of which will be determined in due course,” Mr Bosi told the court.

Magistrate Fahey told Mr Bosi “I’m fed up with this rubbish, I’m terminating this call”, before cutting his line.

He’s an arsehole of the first order and can’t be trusted about anything . Whenever Uber rich fucks make comments about markets etc, always ask why and what position they have. Someone mentioned his comment earlier and I said he could have positions in BTC. Someone here said he has a large position through Square.

He would make that comment to help his BTC go higher. Also, there’s the possibility he believes it too, but he has no edge in knowing.

what a fuckwit Dorsey is

Square Inc. said it purchased $170 million in Bitcoin, further committing to the cryptocurrency and raising its holdings to about 5% of the company’s cash and equivalents.

The announcement came Tuesday as Square reported that cryptocurrency continues to be a growing part of its business through the use of its Cash App for Bitcoin transactions. The financial payments company’s involvement with Bitcoin is a reflection of Chief Executive Officer Jack Dorsey’s belief in cryptocurrencies and the open internet.

The investment “really comes down to the alignment with our purpose, and aligning our incentives with cryptocurrency and more broadly expanding the economic empowerment opportunities and making them acceptable more broadly in a fair way around the world,” Chief Financial Officer Amrita Ahuja said. Square also bought $50 million worth of Bitcoin in October.

Looking at the matter impartially, it is fair to say Mr. Bosi’s legal defence strategy is of a most daring and bold nature.

He may happen to like Australia.

Does the PM and State Premiers like Australia?????

Bosi’s opinion of Magistrates is one I share.
Not sure opening fire hard & early (possibly quite effective in the SAS) is a real good idea when you’re in the dock & addressing Hizzoner.
