Does anyone here think it’s perfectly normal for a 17 year old kid to be out in crazed streets with a loaded AR15 strapped over his shoulder… IN A Suburban setting?

Yes or no?

Of course it’s not “normal”. That’s the whole point. Crazed streets… suburban setting…, there was no “normal” for Rittenhouse to be “normal” in.

I watched the IBAC hearing yesterday. Nothing I didn’t know already but learned that this apparently is the Vic Labor standard approach to dirty deeds (from the mouth of the polly on the stand) “First deny and then lie”. I thought it would make a great slogan for all government vehicles.

There’s our new slogan for licence plates:

VICTORIA – FIRST DENY THEN LIE

Let’s get a little real

At 17 if I had access to weapons, and given the “state” was doing nothing to protect its citizens from a mob, I would have done the same.

Rittenhouse wanted to be a gun hero – that’s why he was there. If he wanted to medically attend to wounded people, he could have done so and would have been left alone.

He was putting out a fire and the mob came after him.

Vaccination Programs are solely the business of State Heath Departments.

Really? Then who was it who spent 100s of millions of dollars on multiple times more doses of the rubbish than there are people in this country?

Yeah, that’s how it works.
The States can’t directly import the vaccines and the Federal Government can’t mandate vaccine programs or run the programs.
Clearly the States have requested the Vaccines from the Feds, it’s now up to the States as to whether or not they proceed.

Yes or no.

It’s irrelevant and you’re stupid.

We’re talking about allowing an underage kid to go out into mean streets and I wouldn’t allow it. What’s that got to do with me going or not going to a demo? In any event the Melbourne event was not violent and never was going to be anywhere close to what occurred in the US in 2020. Remain silent as you’re embarrassing the site.

They are unethical because of the risk of causing serious harm to other people for no valid reason; irresponsible because they run counter to individual and collective responsibilities to contribute to important public health goals; and in the case of certain kinds of religious opposition, they might be irrational because they are internally inconsistent. All in all, our argument translates into the rather uncontroversial claim that we should prioritize people’s lives over religious freedom in vaccine research and vaccination roll out.

I’d wouldn’t be having a easy going chat if I had a 17 year old wanting to take a gun to a suburban setting. It would be very confrontational.

On the plus side, the kid knocked off two fuckers who sorely deserved having their lives shortened and a third with most of his upper arm blown away. The negative is that he could end up behind bars bars for the rest of his life. The case isn’t over until the fat lady sings in the jury room.

In essence, yes. Nowadays society keeps teens in cotton wool, ” educating” them forever, under parental control for far too long imho. They really want to break free, but are suppressed from an early age by we adults. We kill curiosity, shut down adventurousness, scare youngsters with our own fears, infantalise them, actually. But underneath they really are out for adventure – busting to join in a dust-up somewhere in the Empire, tramp around South America, rescue a village in Nepal, endless opportunity to better the world. When we shut this down, we weep at the suicide rates in 20 year olds !

Is the offer reasonable? (Not really good enough on its own). It goes to the market being efficient and informed.

Is there shareholder oppression? Or reasonable/equitable benefits to all shareholders?

Usually this sort of thing has to be egregious. I’d say you’re probably not going to stop them. If 7/10 shares vote for a dud deal, that’s part of the risk of owning a public company.

The inquiry into ABC complaints could get interesting, but ultimately will come to nothing as these things always do.

Seems that the ABCcomplaint process had come under some pressure because of bias. So the ABC did what it does and launched its own ‘inquiry’, which works something like this: Ita rings up a couple of ’eminent’ media people such as ex-bosses of media companies and asks them if they want to earn a lazy couple of hundred grand for a few months ‘work’. A few months down the track, the inquiry can be relied on to conclud that no, there is no bias.

However this time, the Senate will be having a concurrent enquiry. This will put pressure on the ABC enquiry to actually look a little harder, because they wouldn’t want to be shown up as corrupt grifters would they. Hence Ita’s tanty.

Well If Rittenhouse was my kid I hope I would have the guts to stand with him.
Sent my youngest on his own to the US at six and again at 15. Let him hang out with the nanny’s dancing most of the night at Kruger when he still was in nappies. I spent near 48 hours stuck in Kuala Lumpur airport waiting for a connecting flight with him on the way home They walked to school most times and was allowed to make mistakes and stepped for his mates and his older brother died preventing a house invasion. So I’m not a helicopter parent so equivalencies from days long gone of other people kids don’t cut it.

My guess is that Maximum Leader is waiting till the tyranny Bill safely passes the Legislative Council.
Patten, Ratnam and Mednick may be amoral elitist shills, but even they might not want to be seen to hand unlimited power to a despot who is at that very moment having ordinary citizens smashed to a pulp by a paramilitary force just for disagreeing with the despot. (The operative words there being “be seen to” – they’d clearly have no objection to doing it per se.)
Once the Bill’s through, the “health advice” will be that “safety” requires extensive restrictions on protests (subject to exceptions for worthy causes of course), to be enforced with batons, tear gas, pepper spray, water cannons and rubber bullets, with the “rubber” being subject to review at a future date.

The flames have now spread to the company’s main facility on Mitchell Avenue, where thick black smoke is now billowing from the building.

Oh dear. Well I suppose they won’t catch Covid now that flames have gone through their facility. Sterilizing fire and all. But just why an aluminium factory had a warehouse full of hand sanitizer is an intriguing question.

It’s not “normal”, under normal circumstances…. but circumstances are not normal so it’s perfectly reasonable.

He was there for the right reasons and defended himself – as the court should find – in an appropriate manner given the circumstances. There is nothing morally superior about being a coward or a defenceless victim.

As to his age, we have many records of young men of his age defending their families, communities and countries. I was lucky enough to be born in safer times, but the official record has me fighting fires from the age of 14. The Proposition is a 2005 western film directed by John Hillcoat and written by Nick. It stars Guy Pearce, Ray Winstone, Emily Watson, John Hurt, Danny Huston and David Wenham. Nick and Warren also composed and performed the music for the film. Set in the Australian outback in the 1880s, the movie follows a series of events following the horrific rape and murder of the Hopkins family, likely committed by the infamous Burns brothers gang.

Sod this, peoples – some might say I’m happy with what I’ve got …

However, the public gets what the public wants – but I want nothing this society’s now got …

So – I’m going underground (going underground) … 🙂

The CAC had the task of redesigning the American F-86 Sabre – the CAC Sabre, with the Rolls Royce Avon engine was 20% more powerful then the F – 86, and with 2 x 30MM Aden cannon, better armed then the 6 x.50 caliber machine guns of the American aircraft.

When the 30mm cannon were tested at first, the engine used to flame out. So they flew a Canberra bomber underneath with an upward facing movie camera to see why. Only they forgot that as soon as the guns fired the recoil seriously slowed the Sabre. So the Canberra was in front and just below the Sabre, i.e. exactly where you want the aircraft you want to shoot down to be. I was told the story by the Canberra pilot who ducked and heard the shock waves from the shells just above his canopy. Turned out the shock waves were blocking the air flow to the engine so they arranged an electric circuit to reduce the fuel flow to match while the trigger was pulled.

Thanks Rick.
It reminds me of wayback when Anne said on Sinc’s blog that it’s not the virus we should be worried about, but the vaccine.

Spike proteins found to be able to enter cell nuclei and……

…. and interfere with DNA repair and predispose you to cancer. Again, this jibes with Dr. Shankara Chetty’s conclusion that the spike protein is itself a pathogen which exacerbates any comorbidity you may have and thus increases your risk of cancer and other illnesses. He literally calls it poison which will take effect in such diverse ways over varying periods that it will be hard to identify as the actual cause, even though it is.

Bon great driving cd Pete Townsend White City.

Oh yes. I have it. Rabz’s link doesn’t do justice to Give Blood. The CD version turned up high is like having your brain minced with Japanese Masamune swords. I have the CD somewhere.

On the subject …

Pinball Wizard (1969)

Best sound quality version I could find, but still like playing a pinball machine in a swamp. Grr. Deserves better! I loved pinball at uni, put lots of 20c pieces into the things. Sometimes you could get in the zone, and crack free games and more free games. It was addictive.

Speaking of Balwyn Calling … reminded me of my wild & woolly days that included hanging with my skiing mates at Channel 7 during tapings of Shirls Neighbourhood.

This was the first clip that popped up. It’s from the year my first born arrived and it includes Happy Hammond, in who’s arms I sang when I was still a crippled kid.

Two generations and decent chunk of one long life, represented in one little video clip 🙂 –

Newspoll: Coalition claws back primary support from right-wing parties

The Coalition has clawed back support among conservative voters as the leadership contest between Scott Morrison and Anthony Albanese narrows to its tightest margin since March last year.

An exclusive Newspoll commissioned by The Australian shows the Coalition recovering from its worst slump since the last election, with a two-point lift in the primary vote to 37 per cent. However, it still trails Labor, which remains on an unchanged primary vote of 38 per cent.

The last time the Coalition was ahead of Labor on this critical measure was in June.

The gains for the Liberal and Nationals parties have come at the expense of minor right-wing parties including Pauline Hanson’s One Nation. PHON fell a point to 2 per cent while support for other minor parties also slipped a point from a post-election high of 13 per cent in the previous two polls.

Support for the Greens was unchanged at 11 per cent.

The shift in the conservative vote in the past three weeks has resulted in a slight two-party-preferred improvement for the Coalition, which now trails Labor 47-53 per cent – up from 46-54 per cent. The previous poll, which saw the Coalition primary vote fall to its lowest level in three years – 35 per cent – was conducted at the height of internal ructions prior to Mr Morrison flying out to Glasgow to address the COP26 climate change summit.

Indeed, Bruce. Nothing beats blasting your favourite tunes on your home or car stereo. The latter especially. 🙂
