Just how corrupt is Victoria under Chairman Dan?

VicPol alone had racked up quite a record by 2019:

Victoria Police’s achievements have been little short of breathtaking, and not in a good way.

They hover uncomfortably between traffic fascism (as noted), bungling incompetence (take your pick), going missing in action (Christine Nixon and the 2009 deadly fires), cloying political correctness and virtue signalling (electric cars, African gangs), the politicised selective non-pursuit of credibly accused suspects of crime (Julia Gillard, Bruce Wilson, Bill Shorten), accusations that the place is leaking like a sieve (Stuart Bateson), the financial harassment of figures on the right (Dave Pellowe, Lauren Southern, Stefan Molyneux and Milo Yiannopoulos), rampant sexual harassment (unearthed by the Victorian Human Rights Commission), the truly egregious corruption of due legal process (Lawyer X), internet trolling (the sacked senior officer Brett Guerin) and rabid anti-Catholicism (Cardinal Pell).

https://quadrant.org.au/opinion/qed/2019/08/ashtons-circus-victorias-blue-clowns/

And that doesn’t even include the red shirts scandal:

The secret police files from late 2018, the contents of which have been confirmed by three whistleblowers, reveal that detectives were directed by high-ranking officers to make sure that 16 named members of Parliament “not be arrested, photographed, searched if they are interviewed”.

The files also stated the intervention by senior police was to remain a secret.

https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/amp.theage.com.au/politics/victoria/police-were-prevented-from-arresting-labor-mps-over-red-shirts-rort-documents-20211111-p5984j.html

All that, bear in mind, was pre-covid.

Twostix,

our filthy politicians also had a practise run with the horse community in 2007/08 when they polarised us with the the so-called terror of Equine Influenza. It too was touted as a deadly disease that would wipeout all the horses in Oz if we didn’t jump onboard with their bio security protocols. A wonder vaccine was also touted at the time.
[…]

I remember it well.

It wasn’t the first time I got on the wrong side of the narrative pushers by using what I learned from animal husbandry & medicine & the [human] medical industries to explain the ‘sense’ behind so many new controls being forced on us, that didn’t make real world sense.

It’s ground hog day with many here and covid.
Well established that vaccines do not always prevail in boosting immune systems in the frail aged or otherwise seriously health compromised.

All I was pointing out that Singapore’s stats were fairly normal and nothing to run around with hair on fire about.

According to political engineers who are tasked with pushing the COVID-19 narrative, the bureaucrats who determine U.S. health policy have not yet decided on how many booster shots will be needed to keep a person’s “vaccinated status” compliant.

That’s because definitionally, as it doesn’t make you immune, it’s not a vaccine, so you can never be ‘compliant’ for more than a few months.

People really need to internalise this stuff, they aren’t joking, they see a world in which you line up for ‘jabs’ whenever your phone beeps at you, or you are banned from life. Thousands and thousands of ‘professors of epidemiology’, and public health officials and WHO x,y and z, are unveiling the utopian disease outbreak free society that they’ve been working on for the last 20 years, and you’re in it.

Rosie – Singapore has 85% vaccination coverage of the whole population. Which means well into the nineties for the age 18 and up demographic, probably high nineties.

Yet they’re having a big spike of cases.

ScoMo wants 95% coverage here. The Singapore data shows that that will not prevent a massive spike in infections. And since pollies here go nuts over a single positive test result they will be inclined to go full jackboot totalitarian. It’s inevitable.

The virus isn’t the problem. The problem is politicians, medical nazis and the horde of terrified ignorant people they’ve gaslit and frightened the socks off of.

That’s what the Singapore data means.

I now have a fleet of bridges to sell anyone who still believes that this signature count reflects the numbers of those who actually got through to sign & those who tried but were prevented by ‘bugs’, ‘glitches’ and the sudden terror that the Andrews Govt would ‘punish’ those who did get on the signature List –

E-petition Number 402

Title
Reject the Public Health and Wellbeing Amendment (Pandemic Management) Bill 2021

Grievance
The Petition of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Council that the community opposes the Andrews Government’s Public Health and Wellbeing Amendment (Pandemic Management) Bill 2021.

The Bill hands enormous power to the Premier of Victoria, possibly perpetuating a pandemic dictatorship. It is undemocratic and a complete tyrannical overreach of political power. It inhibits proper Parliamentary scrutiny, transparency and potentially impacts scheduled state elections.

The Andrews Government has not consulted with the public on its powers.

The community specifically objects to the Bill granting the Premier wide sweeping powers to declare a pandemic despite low case numbers in the state of Victoria and potentially in the absence of cases, issuing pandemic orders for a period of time without the support of state parliament, and having the power to apply pandemic orders to classes of persons who can be identified by their characteristics or attributes, including but not limited to race, gender, religious, political belief or activity.

Action
The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council reject the flawed Public Health and Wellbeing Amendment (Pandemic Management) Bill 2021.

Calling the Cat’s Dr Kildares and Ben Caseys!

I’ve been reading this report from last year which found astonishing results when ivermectin was introduced to COVID infected cells

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0166354220302011?via%3Dihub

It was attacked without mercy, as per here, with the charge being that the lab dose was way, way too much for any human to endure.

Here’s part of what the disputed paper says:

To further determine the effectiveness of ivemectin, cells infected with SARS-CoV-2 were treated with serial dilutions of ivermectin 2 h post infection and supernatant and cell pellets collected for real-time RT-PCR at 48 h (Fig. 1C/D). As above, a >5000 reduction in viral RNA was observed in both supernatant and cell pellets from samples treated with 5 ?M ivermectin at 48 h, equating to a 99.98% reduction in viral RNA in these samples.

This what I don’t get: ‘5 ?M’ is 5 millionths of what I thought was a metre.

How do you measure dosage in metres, or does 5 ?M represent some other measurement?

And what does this suggest would be the dosage for a human?

The paper’s critics, the quoted by the SMH, are both tied to Big Pharma, according to their bios, which may be something, or it may be neither here nor there.

Are the critics right in terms of dosage?

Learned opinions most welcome.

But that isn’t the, bloody, point! It’s Christmas and the kids do need something off Grandad & in my world anyone under 8 gets toys not clothing or money …
The other 4 are easy to deal with .. 3 are old enuf for cash and sort themselves out whilst the younger one (3) her Mum always knows what she’d like .. never a problem .. LOL!

Does this say what I think it says?

A fourth shot of something that isn’t “resilient to new strains” will be “needed” until the “resilient” jab is developed?

Areff – I take that to be five micro molal. Molal is moles per litre. Ivermectin is a big molecule, the molecular weight is 875 g/mole, so five micromolal would be 4.4 mg/L. If you take a human to be about 1 kg/L that would mean 220 mg for a 50 kg person, which is smaller than a standard 300 mg asprin tablet.

I defer to those who know what dosages of ivermectin are used in the standard treatment therapy, I can’t recall off the top of my head how much it was.

We don’t go to an orthopaedic surgeon for an opinion on a brain tumour, or a podiatrist for a recommendation on asthma treatment even though he may call himself a “doctor”.

So why is it legitimate for the media to go to a specialist on hospital hygiene for her opinion on vaccines and quote her words as if they were gospel?

The Australasian Epidemiologists’ Association needs to exercise some discipline among its members who speak publicly on subjects concerning which which they have no demonstrated special competency.

I wonder what the northern hemisphere would do if the seasons ‘swapped sides’ and they had summer Christmases?

Of course, the trees are all leafy and green so the snow couldn’t settle under the trees. I’m not sure if snow damages blossom on fruit trees. I don’t suppose it did our potato plants a lot of good. But it was lovely to look at.

Heston Russell takes aim at Australia’s Afghan departure and public release of Brereton Report
Sarah Ison
The West Australian
Mon, 15 November 2021 9:25AM
Comments

Former Special Forces soldier Heston Russell says future inquiries into alleged war crimes need to pass through “a legal process” before being made public.

The high-profile veteran told a senate committing investigating Australia’s involvement in Afghanistan that the Brereton Report – which alleged 39 Afghan prisoners and citizens were unlawfully killed by Australian soldiers – had caused significant damage to veterans and Australia’s national security.

“The question this committee must address is ‘was the public release of the Brereton Report worth the instability, reputational damage, mental health suffering and national security cost it has and continues to incur?’,” Mr Russell said.

“Or could and should all future such inquiries actually pass through our legal processes before reaching the public square?

“Where is the support and protection of our veterans here and now?”

Calls to veteran support service Open Arms doubled in the days following the release of the Brereton Report in November last year, with concerns about the mental health impact of the inquiry raised by advocates.

Mr Russell said trust needed to be restored in Government processes after being broken by the public release of the Brereton Report.

It comes as the the Australian Federal Police confirmed it was not seeking any more witnesses for their inquiry into the alleged war crimes, for which they may prosecute individuals.

“(The investigations) are still ongoing and nearing completion and we are not seeking anymore witnesses,” AFP deputy commissioner of investigations Ian McCartney said.

Mr Russell also slammed the Government for its “monumental failure” in allowing Australia’s legacy in Afghanistan to become “one of abandonment”.

“The simple fact that the Australian public and media will have to ask if our time in Afghanistan… was worth it, is the most monumental failing of successive Australian Governments,” he said.

Mr Russell said the lack of support for Afghans still stuck in the Taliban-controlled nation was shameful and had caused significant stress on them and their families.

He raised the case of a woman Erina Arya, who had fled to Australia years earlier and was still trying to get her family out of Afghanistan.

In emails to the Departments of Defence and Foreign Affairs seen by the West Australian, Ms Arya says she lost her twins to miscarriage because of the stress of the situation.

Mr Russell said volunteer run organisations had been supporting Ms Arya, whose plight was being otherwise “neglected” by the Government.

Friedeggburger may well think it overreach not because a political leader in a Democracy has no business with such absolute power but because he has not built a strong enough case in the media. Already you can see people on the streets who are not afraid. Totally wrong time.

Further he will be appalled by the failure to understand Nazism was a political offshoot of conservatism, individualism, capitalism, national pride – all things he is adamantly opposed to.

Re: the unexplained surge in hospitalisations & emergency cases:

I can assure everyone that it is the case in two Sydney hospitals at least. As some will have read, my grandson needed to undergo serious urgent surgery on 10th November. I will not name the hospitals (he is still being treated & is in a bad way), but after being told after 3 days waiting & being “bumped” by life threatened cases, he was told by the staff of the first hospital to go home & await further instructions.

Not surprisingly, the family went into action mode and was able to get him admitted to another hospital the next day. But again, patients needing immediate surgery kept “bumping” him down the order. Last night, on the 5th day after his injury, he was operated on for 3 and a half hours – an intricate operation. I cannot tell you how much this boy suffered in the interim.

I am not blaming the doctors on call- most of them are working 7 days a week at the moment. The doctors at the hospital where he was eventually treated, in particular, did all that they could do.

But what is going on???? Everyone seems tight-lipped to me. A surgeon friend (in another state) said “Oh, it’s COVID causing the cases”. Don’t know what she means by this – is it a back-log of elective surgery? Surely this would not explain why he was put down the list continually. Is it a shortage of nurses – theatre staff in particular? It can’t be CV infections, since the authorities are saying that the vaccines are working!

Or is it a rush of varied and perplexing emergencies which some nurses have apparently described as “the like of which they have never seen”? It couldn’t be vaccination connected, could it?

He really ought to consider though that the Nazis were not just bad for the Holocaust. They were bad for a bunch of reasons, not least of which was their brazen lying to their own people to manipulate them, their intolerance of dissent, their disregard for individual rights, their policing of thought, their curtailing of freedom of movement and of association, their efforts to dominate and control the economy, their readiness to unleash the whole coercive apparatus of the state to target individuals, and so on.

Posters and placards and protests can go pretty far, can even be confrontational (the government gives taxpayer money to ‘artists’ who say art is nothing else but that), they can even be counterproductive. (Socialist Alliance and Greens placards actually put people off when they see them on the TV.)

But if you want to make the point about a totalitarian government what other imagery do we have available to us? As it is people don’t fully grasp that communists have been every bit as brutal and bloodthirsty on their own populations as the Nazis because no one tells them.

Pointless harking back to the reigns of Caligula or Nero, or the French Reign of Terror, will also fail for the same lack of common knowledge, plus the fact that they were actually more targeted against the elites than hoi polloi. Moreover the Nazis (and Communists) used technology to pry into the the tiniest space where they might dare whisper discontent, and Karens informers to spy and report on their neighbours.

Frankly, but for the Holocaust bit, the Nazis are obvious candidates. And the fact that they are such good illustrations of a terrible point ought to give the likes of Friedeggburger, Dan Andrews, and the lot of them pause as to what they are doing.

But the retards probably tell themselves “So over the top. Besides, I don’t speak a word of German!”

So 55 cases of myocarditis is about 1 in 8182.

Again echos of 2009 / Swine Flu:

Pandemrix was found to be associated with narcolepsy from observational studies, increasing the risk of narcolepsy by 5-14 times in children and 2-7 times in adults. The increased risk of narcolepsy due to vaccination in children and adolescents was around 1 incident per 18,400 doses.
Target: Pandemic H1N1/09 virus

The increased risk of narcolepsy due to vaccination in children and adolescents was around 1 incident per 18,400 doses.

1 / 18,400 children were given Narcolepsy by GSK’s rushed through Swine Flu ‘vaccine’ under the same modified ‘Pandemic’ rules that dropped the standards for vaccines that we’re under now. And Pandremix was a ‘traditional‘ vaccine and all. Fortunately it was limited in its roll out and voluntary so it ‘only’ ruined the lives of a thousand young people that are known.

These people are evil you know, they’re quite prepared to kill and maim children, no worries at all.

Greatest maritime mystery about to be solved after 80 years

By Tim Barlass
November 15, 2021

The biggest mystery in Australian maritime history is on the cusp of being solved through a DNA breakthrough with an announcement expected this week.

A positive match for DNA has been made for the “Unknown Sailor”, the only sailor recovered from HMAS Sydney sunk off the West Australian coast with the loss of 645 lives during the Second World War.

The Australian War Memorial describes it as “the most grievous loss suffered by the Royal Australian Navy”.

The German cruiser Kormoran enticed the Sydney into close range where she was able to overwhelm her with gunfire and torpedoes. The Sydney fought back to ensure the raider’s destruction before limping slowly away to her own fate. Next Friday will be the 80th anniversary of the sinking on November 19, 1941.

The only body ever found from Sydney was washed ashore almost three months later on February 6, 1942, in a Carley float off Christmas Island and has always been referred to as the “Unknown Sailor”.

He was buried with military honours on Christmas Island but the remains were exhumed in 2006 and bone and dental samples taken before reinterment at the war cemetery in Geraldton, north of Perth. Since then, exhaustive checks have been made over 15 years with relatives of crew members asked to provide DNA samples.

Ahead of the anniversary a source who cannot be named, told the Herald, “A DNA result has shown a positive match. There is DNA which matches the Unknown Sailor.”

Asked to comment on progress in identifying the sailor, a spokeswoman for the Department of Defence said: “The announcement regarding your inquiry is imminent.” Defence did not provide any further details other than to say the announcement was due in about a week, which would tie in with the anniversary on Friday.

JC, you haven’t explained anything there. You’re looking at the UK chart but you don’t explain why excess deaths are trending higher in second half of 2021 than 2020. You also haven’t addressed the difference in US all cause deaths for US seniors (65+) in the chart above the UK chart.

Explain? I can try to explain the observation. There are two major up moves in excess death rates. There are then two major drops and subsequently two moves slowly heading towards the average. That is appears reasonable.

You cannot make comparisons between two countries without first telling us the data is comparable and standardised.

For many if not the greater majority of those cases the myocarditis is a secondary pathology arising from the primary pathology. I’m not going to waste my time trying to establish the incidence in otherwise healthy individuals but I speculate it will be much lower.

Oh but look a preprint arguing for increased myocarditis is already being savaged by the wolves …

Myocarditis – even mild – probably will take years off a kids life. The rate of pericarditis is MUCH higher. There are 507 Myocarditis and 1281 cases in DAEN for pericarditis from mRNA vaxxes specifically to 1 Nov…. these would be after diagnosis by (and lodged by) MDs.

Given the ATAGI policy is to send the vax injured home with a Panadol, then I’d bet that these numbers are SEVERELY undercounted. There are thousands of others for chest pain (2855), heart palpitations (1505), chest discomfort (1242) etc … and hundreds more with variations on that. And then prob a multiplier of no reports

Another conspiracy theory officially confirmed:

Covid-19 testing company faces privacy probe over plan to sell swabs carrying customer DNA

A large Covid-19 testing company in the UK is being investigated by the country’s privacy watchdog over plans to sell swabs containing customers’ DNA for medical research.

Cignpost Diagnostics, a government-approved testing provider, has delivered up to three million tests at a cost of between £35 ($64) and £120 ($220) each since it was founded in June last year, The Sunday Times reported.

Cignpost, which trades as Express Test, said it intended to analyse the samples to “learn more about human health”, develop drugs and products or to sell information to third parties, according to company documents.

Conspiracy theory you ask?

Henry Palaszczuk, father of Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has been linked to Singapore-registered and China-tied Gene Technology Alliance Foundation (GTA).

GTA’s whole genome sequencing technology can detect 3 billion base-pairs covering all genes of the human body, and users will get a detailed test results (including 84 precision medications, 202 diseases risks, 89 trait genes, 4011 single gene diseases; food intolerance, drug intolerance, nutrient metabolism, trace element absorption; high incidence of tumor risk, family genetic risk; risk of genetic mutation) to take targeted preventive measures for health risks.

Hon. Henry Palaszczuk started as the chairman of the GTA Foundation back in 2019 and has been responsible for the overall management and major decision making at GTA. Mr. Edvard Moser is the vice chairman of the GTA Foundation, who is in charge of genetic technology, stem cell technology research and applications at GTA. He won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2014. On September 22nd back in 2019 , GTA Gene Data Storage and Application Summit was grandly opened in Chaohu city of Anhui province

All stored data will be stored in the GTA in encrypted way and can be accessed by the user as they wish. GTA will also leverage genetic technology to analyze the whole-genome phenotype data stored by users, so that provide massive data support for institutions such as precision pharmaceuticals, precision medicine, scientific research, and health management, etc. Gene Technology Alliance has been working hard is believed to have already distributed genetic data storage and application services on a global scale.

‘It’s a horrible thing to see people destroying their careers,’ Chris Kenny just said on Sky to S.A. Lib Senator Alex Antic regarding Liam Jones’ decision to retire from footy because of his refusal to be jabbed.

What planet is this bloke on?

As in so many other cases around the country, Jones’ career is being destroyed not by him but by others. For Jones, it’s due to the actions of his employer, the Carlton Football Club, the governing body, the AFL and because of the mandatory vaccination dictates of the Victorian Govt.

At least Antic pointed out that many, many Australians are in the same boat and that both Craig Kelly and Pauline Hanson respectively have before the House and the Senate legislation that would ban mandatory vaccination and vaccine passports.

What it does confirm 100% is that the PCR test also gathers your DNA. Again the Cat was ‘way ahead of the curve. It was obvious last year as all the Greek letters started to be used up that herd immunity for this critter wasn’t going to happen. It’s like the flu, for which they’re endlessly guacamoling the hundred or more circulating mutated strains.

All Of A Sudden The CDC Has Stopped Talking About Herd Immunity (14 Nov)

In case you haven’t noticed, the CDC no longer looks as concerned with herd immunity as it once did.

In what should come as no surprise to anyone watching the Covid related narrative closely (or those who have been watching the herd immunity narrative from the get-go), the CDC has “set aside herd immunity as a national goal,” according to a new report from the LA Times.

What used to be a relatively simple concept has now turned into something “very complicated”, according to Dr. Jefferson Jones, a medical officer on the CDC’s COVID-19 Epidemiology Task Force.

That’s OK guys, just donate some more money to the Democrats. Joe is sure to fix it for you.

John of Mel – Here’s a report from NBC, which is pretty lefty.

One U.S. intel agency believes Covid probably emerged from lab accident in China (28 Aug)

Another one from WaPo points out that the Wuhan lab took their database offline on Sept. 12, 2019. So something happened and they were in damage control. Which fits what we know about the military games and Wuhan city outbreak in late 2019.

New congressional report says covid-19 likely emerged in Wuhan months earlier than originally thought (2 Aug)

The trouble is the Lefty MSM are dancing around the subject with weasel words since they are frantically trying to stick to whatever the latest lefty talking points are supposed to be, so none of them are doing headlines which conclusively say it came from the lab. The righty press, what little there is, have been, but they don’t appear to be what you need.

THERE are two new cases of Covid-19 in the Northern Territory.

The first case is a 43-year-old Aboriginal male who lives with seven others in the Robinson River community, which is about 800km from Katherine.

On November 9 he returned a negative result but a test he took on November 13 came back positive on Monday.

Chief Minister Michael Gunner said the man had probably been infectious since November 10.

The second positive case is a 30-year-old Aboriginal female who is a household contact of the man.

It is believed she has been infectious since November 11.

The Greater Katherine region and the Robinson River community will go in to a 72-hour lockdown from 6pm on Monday.

Radical Rent Control Measure Blows Up in St. Paul in Less Than a Week (12 Nov)

A radical rent control measures capping increases at 3% passed in St. Paul Minnesota. The payback was immediate.

The new ordinance doesn’t go into effect until May 2022. Nevertheless, several real estate companies with large projects in the works have already announced that they’re pulling their permit applications.

That includes Ryan Companies. Local NBC affiliate KARE 11 reports that the company pulled applications for three buildings in its proposed 3,800-unit Highland Bridge project. Other developers are singing a similar tune.

As a result of this Minneapolis-St Paul is going have the housing shortage from Hell, especially after all the BLM riots in the last year. The value of real estate will inevitably sky rocket as there will be more competition for what’s left, and this means that the rich will get richer and homes more unaffordable. John of Mel – Here you go.

Letter confirms Wuhan lab’s COVID-19 leak was funded by US taxpayers (NY Post, 4 Nov)

The origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 remains unclear, but recent revelations reinforce the likelihood that the true source was a lab leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

A letter from Lawrence Tabak, the National Institutes of Health’s principal deputy director, to Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) confirms that the NIH funded research at the WIV during 2018-2019 that manipulated a bat coronavirus called WIV1. Researchers at the institute grafted spike proteins from other coronaviruses onto WIV1 to see if the modified virus was capable of binding in a mouse that possessed the ACE2 receptors found in humans — the same receptor to which SARS-CoV-2 binds. The modified virus reproduced more rapidly and made infected humanized mice sicker than the unmodified virus.

And this one:

The Evidence Mounts (City-Journal, 1 Nov)

It covers the same letter. Then there’s the Chinese virologist lady who spilled the beans last year.

Chinese virologist claims COVID was made in lab — but US studies don’t agree (NY Post, 11 Sep)

I read her stuff at the time, it was very detailed and very compelling. If I remember correctly I think she’s now been disappeared, but I could be wrong about that. She’s certainly not out doing the rounds of cable TV though.

the CCP is extremely keen on western DNA as they have stated they are wanting viruses that only target certain races.

A podcast came up with a truly excellent comment today which suggests the fuckheads knew it came out of a lab.

Think back. The Chinese government was heavily criticized (condemned really) around the world, for opening up the wet markets too quickly. With everything to do with COVID though, they have been oppressively conservative to the extent of shutting 30,000 people in a theme park and welding down doors to apartments. Yet they were okay with the wet markets opening up, even though they led us to believe it may have started there.
Bullshit, it came out of the lab.

Okay.

Either Coronavirus has been around for yonks and is a nothing burger, OR the PCR tests are not reliable and are NOT a gold standard.

One or the other, champs.

https://theconversation.com/was-coronavirus-really-in-europe-in-march-2019-141582

They found evidence of the virus on January 15, 2020, 41 days before the first official case was declared on February 25, 2020. All the samples before this date were negative, except for a sample from March 12, 2019, which gave a positive result in their PCR test for coronavirus. PCR is the standard way of testing to see if someone currently has the disease.

PCR involves getting samples of saliva, mucus, frozen wastewater or whatever else the virus is thought to be lurking in, clearing all the unnecessary stuff out of the sample, then converting the RNA – which is a single strand of genetic material – into DNA (the famous double-stranded helix). The DNA is then “amplified” in successive cycles until key bits of genetic material that are known to only exist in a particular virus are plentiful enough to be detected with a fluorescent probe.

Not highly specific
In coronavirus testing, scientists typically screen for more than one gene. In this case, the researchers tested for three. They had a positive result for the March 2019 sample in one of the three genes tested – the RdRp gene. They screened for two regions of this gene and both were only detected around the 39th cycle of amplification. (PCR tests become less “specific” with increasing rounds of amplification. Scientists generally use 40 to 45 rounds of amplification.)

There are several explanations for this positive result. One is that SARS-CoV-2 is present in the sewage at a very low level. Another is that the test reaction was accidentally contaminated with SARS-CoV-2 in the laboratory. This sometimes happens in labs as positive samples are regularly being handled, and it can be difficult to prevent very small traces of positive sample contaminating others.
