Or more preposterous if various Sov Cits “accidentally” found themselves in Darlinghurst (clad in red shoes) around late March and stated:

Boambee, remember reading a book on the Vietnam War where a Qantas B707 carrying Troops was in its approach to Than Son Nhat but warned off by ATC to land from the opposite direction as there was a little firefight going on below the intended glide path. Woodstock was one of those things than American boomers said they went to but never did. They just played the records.

I don’t know why it is so overblown with mystique. There was so much happening in ‘69 it really was just a sideshow.

But, of course, those kids couldn’t pretend they went to the moon. So they pretended they wallowed topless in mud instead.

Sometimes the actual end of a decade is purely an artificial totally calendar-based phenomenon. But in hindsight “the 60’s” had a well defined ending. August 1969, Woodstock, was very 60’s, then December 1969 Altamont Speedway was almost an announcement “fasten your seatbelts for the 70’s”.

The right needs to understand that there is no peaceful coexistence with leftism: they are at war with you, your country, nature itself and the future. Every law they pass is an attempt to legislate you out of existence until the only paradigm that remains is one of their making. They are compelled to do this as a moral imperative and are unable to stop. This is why there is such an obvious lack of goodwill on their part; they push as hard as they can as fast as they can until they are stopped by circumstance, and not before. Even then, the respite is only until they regroup and figure out a new angle of attack.

Japan, Australia to sign defence deal

Exclusive
Joe Kelly
Canberra Bureau Chief

Japan will sign a landmark defence agreement with Australia this week, upgrading military co-operation, joint exercises and military deployments.

Hailed as a “pivotal moment” in Japanese-Australian relations by Scott Morrison, the new agreement will mark the beginning of a much closer defence relationship between Canberra and Tokyo, but was still being finalised late on Tuesday night.

Japanese and Australian sources were optimistic the deal would go ahead despite Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan being forced to cancel his trip amid the spiralling Omicron outbreak across the world.

The Reciprocal Access Agreement has been under negotiation since 2014 and is the first agreement of its kind that Japan is finalising with another nation, with Tokyo and Canberra moving to strengthen regional security amid a period of heightening strategic uncertainty and tensions in the Indo-Pacific fuelled by a more assertive Beijing.

Before it was cancelled, the trip was to have been the first bilateral visit made by Mr Kishida since he became prime minister in October and a symbol of the tightening relationship with Australia and shared commitment to democratic values, human rights, open markets and the rule of law.

Mr Morrison and Mr Kishida are scheduled to hold a virtual meeting to accompany the signing of the agreement, which will relax entry arrangements for foreign troops and military equipment, slashing red tape as the tempo of joint operations ticks up.

It will be seen in Tokyo as the most significant defence agreement after the US Status of Forces Agreement, signed in 1960, under which America maintains about 45,000 troops in Japan. Japan is also in negotiations for a similar arrangement with Britain, and France has expressed an interest in striking its own arrangement with Tokyo.

Japanese ambassador Yamagami Shingo told The Australian the agreement with Australia would open a “new chapter in our co-operation” and argued that Mr Kishida had established a strong rapport with Mr Morrison on the sidelines of the COP26 meeting in Glasgow late last year.

“We will increase joint exercises in terms of both number, quantity as well as quality,” Mr Yamagami told The Australian. “Already we have been conducting such joint exercises of Talisman Sabre, or Southern Jackaroo among our armies or Bushido Guardian between our air forces.

“There are various kinds of joint exercises already conducted between Australia and Japan. I do expect that number will increase significantly. But not only that, perhaps more importantly, we will upgrade the quality of our joint exercises.

“This will certainly increase our interoperability. Already discussions are being made to conduct air-to-air refuelling – that’s one of the most difficult operations between air forces. Things like this will open a new chapter in our co-operation.”

In an interview with The Australian, Mr Yamagami said Japan was “facing a security environment in which we have to address ever increasing difficulties in areas such as the South China Sea and the East China Sea or throughout the Indo Pacific region”.

The R.S.L. was unavailable for comment.

On the boundaries of the decades, this guy from Georgia, USA posits that they done perfectly align with the calender, thus:

2019 December 31:

_When will the Twenties begin?_

Everyone is looking back on the decade 2010-2019 (we never came up with a snappy name; the Teens?), and trying to sum it up and say how the next one will be different.

But I feel that we are not at a natural boundary in our national life. Whatever the Twenties will be like, either they already started (with a radical change in politics in 2016) or they won’t start until Trump’s present situation is cleared up, perhaps after the election.

I think the defining events for many decades are a few years off from the nominal boundary. For instance, 1962 was more like the Fifties than the Sixties, which actually, as a cultural era, spanned about 1964 to 1973.

[Note added later:] In retrospect, it’s obvious that the Twenties began with the coronavirus pandemic that swept through America in March of 2020. That was the defining event.

And earlier:

2005 January 1:

Happy new year! Actually, I yelled “Happy new year!” at the dinner table at 7 p.m. local time, which was midnight GMT. One might as well follow international standards…

We’re now halfway through the first decade of the 2000s (though not the first decade of the twenty-first century, which began in 2001).

And today I want to reflect on how we divide centuries up into decades: the Fifties, the Sixties, the Seventies, and so forth.

My thesis is that we make the divisions on the basis of cultural changes, not just the calendar. Think about the Sixties for a moment. Now think about 1962. Chances are, 1962 doesn’t fit your image of the Sixties nearly as well as, say, 1971 does. The cultural changes don’t occur exactly on multiples of 10 years.

Looking backward a bit…

The 21st Century obviously began, for Americans, on September 11, 2001. Many aspects of our life changed all at once on that day.

What about previous major transition, ushering in the Nineties? There’s no equally sharp event, but I think there’s a cluster of them: on the political front, the dissolution of the Soviet Union (December 1991), and in popular culture, public access to the Internet (1993) and the advent of the spam problem (1994). Those events made the Nineties into what we remember. Never mind that by this criterion, the Nineties lasted only about seven years.

Back to the Eighties… Again, there were two defining events. In politics and popular culture, the somewhat unexpected landslide election of Reagan in 1980 was the turning point. It changed the rules of politics; Reagan was criticized, not for tricking and outsmarting anyone, but for actually keeping his campaign promises.

The economy underwent a sudden shift; inflation diminished (by fits and starts), largely because people expected it to. And popular culture shifted: pessimism was out and materialism was in.

The other defining event of the 1980s was the widespread adoption of Kaypro and IBM personal computers in 1981 and 1982. For 1982 (I think), the personal computer was Time Magazine’s “machine of the year.” This may have had something to do with the shift in popular culture. When you’re dealing with computers, you can no longer pass off confusion as sophistication (which was a major 1970s theme). Either you make things work or you don’t. Computers introduced a healthy dose of objective reality into the popular Weltanschauung.

All right then, the Seventies. I contend that they didn’t actually begin until 1973-74 (end of the Vietnam War and resignation of Nixon). They were a strangely deprived period; with no Vietnam War to protest, people felt deprived of a cause. I remember someone trying to get me to become an anti-draft activist in 1980, at which time there was no draft and no compulsory registration… exactly what was he wanting to get rid of, then? In the Seventies it was fashionable to be confused.

How about the Sixties? Again, I don’t think they began on time. Certainly, 1960 or even 1962 belong more to the previous decade than to their own. I think the real transition was around 1963-64, with the assassination of Kennedy (preceded by major foreign policy crises), the Vietnam build-up, and, in popular culture, the Beatles’ 1964 American TV debut, followed by a sudden and radical change in the role of popular music in society.

The beginning of the Fifties is harder to pinpoint. There was certainly no major political change at the time. We think of the Fifties as a time of prosperity, optimism, and lively but silly and conformistic popular culture.

I think what ushered in the Fifties was television, and it reached different parts of the country at different times. Georgia got its first TV station in 1948; rural south Georgia, where my parents lived, got TV around 1954. And when it arrived, the impact of TV on people’s lives was powerful.

So the Fifties had a vague beginning. Not so the Forties, which started on December 7, 1941. Nor the Thirties, which obviously began with the 1929 stock market crash. American history before that is harder to carve up into decades, and indeed, the very ability to carve it up depends on mass communications which tend to impose changes everywhere at the same time.

And all of this applies only to the United States, of course. Other countries have different divisions, or none at all. When in England in the 1970s I was struck by the lack of perceived discontinuity between the Seventies, Sixties, and Fifties. The borders just weren’t as sharp. On the other hand, the beginning of the Thatcher Era was a dramatic change.

Having worked for a company that develops lateral flow test kits, the manufacturing cost per test is around $0.15 – 0.20. The only place you can make them for that price is in China.

If you made them in Australia, they’d have to sell for $50 per test rather than $10.

Not now possibly, but he was easy to talk to several years ago when he was running sideways on my street with the entourage unable to keep up. It was funny. I was sitting in my office, I heard a commotion and looked out the window. I saw a dude running up the street (sideways was later) and a bunch of guys talking loudly were following him. I thought it was a fight. I then saw them coming down the street and saw them repeat the same shit with the tall dude running sideways. It’s a pretty steep street so it was some effort and he had to be pretty fit. I walked out to the street and realized it was a tennis player but ha forgotten his name. I asked him if he was “that tennis ” player and he responded really nicely. We talked for a short while. Our niece who was doing her medical residency at the time and staying with us was standing on the landing besotted by the dude. He was very nice and polite.

Apropos of min’s post just prior to Tom’s very cool crop, and early morning speculation prior to a big day elsewhere:

The insular fuckwittery of the medical bureaucracy and AMA is beyond question. Take that as a given, an article of faith.

It is entirely possible that – from the mountain of anecdotal information at hand – a very significant percentage of nurses and GPs both in and out of hospitals are not only extremely sceptical of the rationale behind this entire shitshow, but are livid that nobody asked them about the logistical ramifications of what the whiteboard cowboys at Fat Kid Lunchbox HQ dreamed up for them.

Either they play the game – wear the space suits, dance for The Man and go along with the narrative, or your job and house is gone because that’s all they’ve ever trained for, or are remotely competent in.

The Tik Tokkers haven’t got time for Tok Tikking now because they’re busy dealing with several kilometres’ worth of enraged motorists who’ve queued for nine hours for a PCR test Gummint told them to have, and who have been turned away and told to start again tomorrow.

The ones in hospitals are flat tit-o-rama because quite a few of their colleagues have either been given the boot for non-vaxxing, or they’ve gone down with the coof cold so can’t turn up to work anyway, because Gummint spake thusly.

Statistically, the entire medical profession cannot all be cockheads.

I truly hope the non-cockhead cohort loudly and publicly bites its master during the imminent death throes of this entirely unnecessary panic.

One rule for us and no rules for the elite. After the shit ahoq Daniel Andrewes has put Victoria through for the past two years, even the sports jocks on radio are pissed off this morning with the farce that has become apparent in the past few hours.

Paywallian:

Novak Djokovic has been granted an exemption to compete in the 2022 Australian Open.

Following months of uncertainty over the defending champion’s vaccination status and whether he would compete for a 10th title, Djokovic has confirmed he will be in Melbourne for the slam which starts January 17.

On Instagram he wrote: “happy new year I’ve spent time with my loved ones and today I’m heading down under with an exemption permission. Let’s go 2022.”

A vaccine mandate is in place at tournaments this summer, including the Australian Open, but tournament director Craig Tiley on Sunday confirmed a number of players had been granted exemptions.

At that stage, Tiley said he was still unaware whether Djokovic would head to Melbourne or not – but foreshadowed an imminent announcement.

A spokesman for the Victorian government said the government had worked closely with Tennis Australia to set up an “independent and rigorous process” to assess requests for medical exemptions at the Australian Open.

“Any player who is granted a medical exemption will have gone through a two-stage, independent process to verify they have a genuine medical condition that meets the criteria for an exemption,” the spokesman said.

“Requests for a medical exemption are first made to Tennis Australia and they complete the first medical assessment.

“If approved by the independent panel set up by Tennis Australia, the application is then reviewed by the Independent Medical Exemption Review Panel (IMERP), which was established by the Victorian Department of Health.

“IMERP is made up of three highly qualified medical professionals, with expertise in cardiology, sports medicine and immunology.

“The personal information of any applicant is redacted to ensure the independence of the process.”

The final TA-organised charter flights are set to arrive in Australia this week.

Djokovic was a late withdrawal from Serbia’s ATP Cup team currently competing in Sydney.

Should he win a 10th title in Melbourne, Djokovic would edge ahead of Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal with a total of 21 grand slam trophies to his name.

For months speculation over Djokovic’s vaccination status has been rife. Well known for his anti-vax sentiments, the Serbian has refused to confirm if he has been immunised against Covid saying it was information for his knowledge only.

Once it was announced that all players contesting the Open would have to prove their vaccination status, Djokovic’s father accused organisers of “blackmail.”

Last month, Victorian Sports Minister Martin Pakula said that if Djokovic chose not to be vaccinated and was not accepted by the expert committee, he would not play in the Australian Open.

“In order to enter the tournament, he must have a good excuse to explain the reason for their non-vaccination,” Pakula said at the time.

“If people think that we have done this to try to give Djokovic a chance to play the tournament they are very wrong. Everyone who participates must be vaccinated or have a significant reason why they have not.

“It is not up to me, or the Prime Minister, or any other politician to determine whether or not he can play the tournament. It will be assessed by a committee of experts.”

It seems to me highly likely that the word has gone out to the very well paid and compliant doctors associated with various famous sporting organisations and their stars that Brian’s childhood asthma must be medically certified as ‘ongoing’ and that Felicity’s various sprains must be declared auto-immune sinovitis etc etc. Obviously, these atheletes cannot have a vaxx and thus must be exempted. The cardiology, sports medicine and immunology specialists who then lend their name, for a price, to this ‘committee work’ are thus sagely able to give the nod and please a number of political masters.

I guess that is one way of looking at it.

As much as I dislike Djokovic, I think the decision to allow him to compete has defeated the idiots who determine health regulations in this country.

I suspect that his considerable resources has allowed him to challenge the ban on actual immunological considerations. We know he had the most ferocious original Wuhan strain which will have given him immunity to further infection from Covid if you ascribe to the opinion of the world’s foremost immunologists. My guess is that he threatened them with legal action with huge repercussions for Victoria if he won .

I don’t understand why anyone would get ‘tested’ for wuflu. If you’re not sick there is no need, if you do have symptoms you’re told to stay home till you recover, so there’s no need to know if it’s wuflu. There seems to be no specific wuflu treatments as we’re not permitted Ivermectin etc so what’s the point in knowing why you have cold/flu symptoms? Plus the PCR test seems to be rather unreliable and really isn’t fit for the purpose. I have no idea of how accurate the RAT test is but what’s the point?

Except it has a meaning: the opposite of what its dictionary entry says. “Democracy” now means not the rule or sovereignty of the people but the fiat of elites and “experts.” When the people can be persuaded, duped, or bullied into ratifying expert insistence, so much the better. That extra pretense of legitimacy helps quiet and discredit dissent. When they can’t, no matter. The “right thing” will be done, come what may, and that too is “democratic” under the new meaning. The cloyingly disingenuous phrase “our democracy” really means “their oligarchy.” Reds are not included—except as subjects.

Police open criminal probe into U.K. vaccine rollout after medical dissenter’s legal challenge.
“You do not experiment on humans, and consent must be freely given without coercion and include a discussion about alternative treatments … and an individual’s material risk of developing covid-19 or actually coming to harm from it.” said English GP Dr. Sam White.

“Novak Djokovic has been granted an exemption to compete in the 2022 Australian Open.”

Righhhhhhhhht…….I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Quite honestly this news has left me speechless (something that doesn’t happen very often) but I shouldn’t be surprised. This hypocrisy has been going on for twenty months. Beginning with Scumbag Morrison right down to the vomit that makes up our MSM, we ordinary Australians have been gaslighted, we’ve been lied to, we’ve been spat upon, we’ve been shat upon, we’ve been smeared and we’ve been denigrated……if we dare question or criticise this whole Covid narrative and particularly the unholy trinity of lockdowns, vaccination and vaccine passports. But if you’re rich, if you’re famous, if you’re the world’s numero uno tennis player, you get a free pass……you get a vaccination exemption. This is now Australia in 2022. It’s beyond a parody. It’s worse than a two tier society……it’s so broken it’s not funny. I’m curious as to why these celebrities and tennis players are never denounced and smeared as far-right, anti-vaxxer, Nazi white supremacists. Why don’t I see Bill Shorten on television smearing these tennis players and celebrities as “Nazis”. Why don’t I see Daniel Andrews smearing this tennis player as “selfish”. Why? Because they’re not you and me, because they’re not ordinary Australians.

Since day one celebrities and those who are rich and famous have been given special exemptions. Not for them to quarantine in some dingy one bedroom Meriton unit in inner city Sydney or Melbourne. NO…NO….they’ve been given special allowance to quarantine in their mansions.

Being a lover of history, I used to wonder what it was like to live in societies on the edge of destruction and revolution, France in the late 1780s and St Petersburg in 1916. I now understand…..the anger I feel is palpable.

Having had major surgery a month ago, I wouldn’t have been allowed to have had that surgery without being double vaxxed, despite paying my Medicare levy and my private health insurance. And yet a Serbian tennis player by the name of Novak Djokovic is given special permission to fly into Melbourne and play tennis.

I think it’s time we spat back, I think it’s time we shat back.

Where’s the guillotine?

Media Follies Today

AW, two things about leftards:
1. They can’t believe there is anyone on earth who doesn’t think like them.
2. They think the reason that the US courts refused to hear cases about 2020 election fraud means that there wasn’t any.
Leftards are not only stupid and uneducated, they’re irrational and can’t be reasoned with.

Money for the media and prestige for politicians.

A huge amount of money is invested by networks in sport, whether it be the AO, Olympics, cricket…whatever. They are not going to shit in their money- making machine, neither are they going to call the others out because it will be tit for tat. Soooo…it remains the cash cow in the room and will stay that way until it runs out of money.

Will the compliant vaxxed complain? Possibly. Most likely they will shrug and turn their attention on the hapless sods who turn up to shop maskless.

I wouldn’t put Djokovic in it. Like Rickw, he wants to work without being vaxxed.

His work is simply more “essential” in the twisted minds of the media and our politicians, so he gets a pass.

If we argue that Djokovic should not have been allowed entry then we are affirming the COVID narrative, that we approve of mandates, etc.
A Plato’s cave scenario.
And I would think that that the sinisters of spring street could make mileage out of any ‘unfair’ backlash to Djokovic and so affirm their moral right to past and ongoing contemptible behaviour.
No, I’m glad that Djokovic is here. And vic state needs the tennis money.

Disappointed that Djokovic even applied for an exemption entry. I thought he had the right combination of principle and f-off money. He was looking onboard for one of the only two moral responses to the Batflu Fascism- nil participation.
Right now, I’d like to see him go on and win, despite the boo’ong Melbun manbun crowd which hated him all the way through his first AO win.
But I think that Cats should best forgive him as a man, and keep the focus on the real perpetrators of the farce, the hoops and the loopholes- the Lizard People.

Remind me-
before the jab mandate which they promised would never happen, there was the mask mandate which they said would never happen (fourteen days to flatten the curve, remember?).
I flew around a bit claiming a medical exemption, hardly raised any eyebrows, but was brought undone by this one fat lump of pommy bile, because he resented me for getting away with it.

I think you’re right enough.
Bern, Cassie, I think that you’re saying Djokovic should not qualify for entry under the current system, the system which is crippling the proles and which the powerful tear apart, and I’m with you there too.
Consolation, this is throwing more daylight upon the corrupting powers that be, and their appointments, exemptions, fast-tracks, fudges, obfuscation and buck-passing.

Novak Djokovic.
Australian Open tournament chief Craig Tiley explains:

“People this morning would wake up to that news [and I] would completely understand and emphasise with them being completely upset with that condition,”

“Really at the end of the day … not only was the process appropriately followed but the conditions in which any tennis player comes in – no matter who they are, conditions put on tennis and put on anyone coming into Australia by the Australian government.

“We’ve made that very clear from the beginning.”

So, pretty clearly, it’s The Science.
