Seems to me in comparison to the Victorian outbreak in mid 2020 neither delta nor omicron have cut a similar swathe through nursing home populations.
And I’m pretty sure you can find the treatment protocols for those sick enough to be admitted to hospital, online.

The real question is in NSW what kind of treatment are omicron punters getting?

Quite sensibly they are not being given any treatment for COVID.

That’s because they ARE NOT DYING FROM COVID.

They are dying from cancer, cardiac, sepsis, pneumonia, dementia, parkinsons, i.e. all the diseases that carry off the elderly. So no point treating them for Covid.

A young guy (15/16 – lean & active/healthy) who works part-time at the local IGA store came down with COVID about 2 weeks ago. Diagnosed by tests and the doctor who came to see him.

He was given no treatment by the quack. The kid was quite sick. Is this appropriate?

I had something similar around the same time – mild headaches for a few days, felt a bit unwell & one day I woke up and thought I’d gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson (aches & pains incredible).

Punchline is I’m 68 & unvaccinated, the kid is 15/16 and vaccinated.

As always, the question is “from” or “with”, and how many were suffering from co-morbidities? Sad for those families as always, but not an excuse or reason to push the enjabbenating of anyone, let alone children (and soon infants as well), or the third, fourth or fifth round for the already jabbed with an obviously ineffective substance (if it’s meant to be eradicating a virus.) That any of this farce is continuing is, well worse than farcical.

Frigates sink us further into risk of expensive duds BEN PACKHAMFollow @bennpackham

18 minutes ago January 31, 2022
No Comments

Australia has done it again, buying an unproven defence design and creating innumerable further problems by modifying it to meet our own requirements.

The classified “Engineering Team Assessment” of the $45bn Hunter-class frigate program, revealed by The Australian, should be a wake-up call to the government – without urgent political intervention, the frigates risk becoming expensive duds.

The report should also be a warning of the high risks of selecting a British-designed nuclear submarine.

The British government and its privatised defence giant, BAE Systems, claimed its Type-26 frigate was the most advanced submarine-hunting ship on the market.

But unlike its Italian and Spanish competitors, the British option existed only as an immature design, not a completed ship.

Defence and federal cabinet ministers somehow swallowed the BAE line that the huge risks of buying a “first of class” vessel would be mitigated by the delivery of the first Type-26 for the Royal Navy ahead of the initial Hunter-class vessel.

But the British vessel is running well behind schedule, and Australia’s mandated design changes have caused flow-on problems throughout the vessel.

The additions of a US AEGIS combat system and Australian-designed CEAFAR radar have increased the frigates’ designed weight so much that the hull has had to be enlarged and redesigned.

The extra weight means the ships will be slower than envisaged, have a shorter range, and draw so much power that commanders will have to decide whether to prioritise the radar or propulsion system.

There are also stark warnings over the ship’s radar and noise signatures, and risks to crew members in the event of floods and fires.

Staggeringly, the report reveals Defence has left itself with little contractual leverage to force the company to shoulder these risks and fix the problems at its own expense.

Taxpayers now face a drawn-out design and construction process, with escalating costs and delays, and no guarantees that the ships will do what they’re supposed to.

Unfortunately, the new AUKUS partnership between Australia, Britain and the US makes it all but impossible for the Morrison government to cancel the contract as it did with the French Attack-class subs.

An Albanese government might feel freer to revisit the decision to go with the British design.

Either way, Peter Dutton or his Labor successor will have to personally take charge of efforts to get the frigate program back on track.

familiar with is “Shah-den-froy-deh”. Maybe that’s the Bavarian dialect pronunciation as most of my exposure to spoken German is in Bayern and Austria.

Apparently I speak an old fashioned German, heavens I still use subjunctive when speaking (my oma DID start teaching me 60 years ago) and people have difficulty with my accent which is said to be from somewhere around Hannover/Hamburg ( hardly surprising as mum and oma were from Hamburg, the only Hamburgerism I have is that I use neh (very soft E) instead of nein).

I’ve been wondering how many of those even have “covid” of any variety. We know the PCR and RA tests are unreliable, handing out false positives like scattering confetti. Donald J Trump

If the Vice President (Mike Pence) had “absolutely no right” to change the Presidential Election results in the Senate, despite fraud and many other irregularities, how come the Democrats and RINO Republicans, like Wacky Susan Collins, are desperately trying to pass legislation that will not allow the Vice President to change the results of the election? Actually, what they are saying, is that Mike Pence did have the right to change the outcome, and they now want to take that right away. Unfortunately, he didn’t exercise that power, he could have overturned the Election!

Onto Code Brown for Victoria. Just last Friday I finally got my much needed surgery in a large, Regional Victorian Private Hospital. This hospital typically performs 25 – 30 major elective surgeries as day (hip replacements and the like) plus a smaller theatre which does a bunch of day surgeries. On Friday I finally got my surgery (Cat 1). How many other operations conducted by this hospital Friday? Three. I was in until Sunday afternoon, I didn’t see or hear another patient in my wing. I know there was another patient somewhere because the nurse referred to having to attend to them, but there were none of the normal noises or any evidence of an active hospital. Caroadks empty, no deliveries or workers coming and going, barely anything to indicate it was a functioning hospital. I was lucky, I finally got the surgery I needed after 18 months, yet so many Victorians are still suffering whilst this, just one of many regional hospitals, sit idle. It’s bloody outrageous.

The French that thought dynamited the old port buildings in 1943 and replacing were evil AND stupid.

I walked around Le Panier it was okay if you like endless steps and what dogs leave, actually quite charming and currently in the process of gentrification. Someone who’d been evicted into social housing had posted notices of disgruntlement around the place.
I wanted to go to the church of the Accuell but all that is left of that 11th century church is the tower, thanks French Revolutionaries!

I bussed up to Notre Dame de Garde, thought it was windy in le panier, oops.
The doors to the basilica were closed, you had to go back down to the crypt and enter via the internal stairs, they actually drew up the drawbridge after I arrived (was also a fortress) because wind.
Amazing views of Marseille and the interior of the basilica is superb, at least now I’ve seen chateau d’if which the Navette office the bus drove past tells me is ferme.

$45bn Hunter-class frigates slow, unsafe: Defence

Ben Packham
Foreign Affairs and Defence Correspondent
@bennpackham

Australia’s new $45bn Hunter-class frigates will be “substantially” slower, have a shorter range than originally intended, and could be vulnerable to detection by enemy vessels, a classified Defence Department report reveals.

The Defence “Engineering Team Assessment” of the frigates program, undertaken last November, warns the ships could also be less safe for crews, with the potential for sailors to become trapped below deck by floodwaters in “credible damage conditions”.

The 36-page report sets out an array of serious problems with the “immature” British design, which is being substantially modified to meet Australian requirements, and warns that the government’s contract with shipbuilder BAE Systems provides “very limited means … to influence contractor performance”.

BAE won the contract in 2018 to build nine anti-submarine frigates in Adelaide to replace the Anzac-class fleet, with the first ship due to enter service in 2033.

The company claimed its design was the most advanced and stealthy on offer. But unlike its competitors, Spain’s Navantia and Italy’s Fincantieri, BAE’s design was an unproven one.

Taxpayers could now face a drawn-out design and construction process – with escalating costs and delays – like those that dogged other recent Defence projects including the recently dumped French submarine program.

The report, seen by The Australian, is scathing in its criticism of the British contractor, which will be responsible for building the nation‘s nuclear submarines if Australia goes with the UK’s Astute-class boat.

It blasts slow feedback and “confusing and incoherent” provision of data by BAE, and says the company’s design process “does not adhere to normal system engineering practice”.

The report says Australian defence companies are being passed over, with BAE claiming local industry content requirements are “a complicating factor for system design maturity”.

The document, marked “sensitive”, warns that the inclusion of a US combat system and Australian-designed CEAFAR2 radar have pushed the ships’ “space, weight, power and cooling margins” to their limits, posing “significant potential risk”.

The proposed ships are now “substantially heavier” than BAE’s original Type-26 frigate design, which has also faced delays and design headaches, requiring a modified hull to accommodate the additional weight and design changes.

The report warns that the changes have caused serious design issues that have cascaded through the program, driving up electrical power consumption with “a negative impact on speed and range”, and causing problems with the cooling of the vessel’s combat system.

“The overall power demand of the Hunter-class frigate still exceeds its generating capacity … and is exacerbated in tropical and antarctic environmental conditions,” it says. “Vessel maximum speed at start of life will be substantially lower than comparable RAN surface combatants.”.

The report adds that the heavier-than-anticipated ship will face “increased fuel consumption and running costs, particularly in the 17-18 knots range”.

The shortfall in the vessel’s available power will force commanders to decide whether to “prioritise power allocation to either the CEAFAR2 Radar or the propulsion system depending on the ship’s operational requirements”, the authors warn.

The “System Design Review Exit” report says the ship’s mast design could increase its radar cross-section, and the additional thrust required from its propellers could breach the contract’s “underwater radiated noise” requirements, making the vessels more vulnerable to the submarines they are supposed to hunt.

The Defence engineering team says it has “low confidence” that the vessels will meet Royal Australian Navy weight-margin standards, leaving the first three ships potentially “unable to respond to technological surprise with future capability upgrades”.

It also warns that the new design of the ship’s topside mast is so immature that there is a risk it could destabilise the vessel “past the point where a feasible ship design is possible”.

The modified design’s additional displacement and draught have called into question previous assessments – based on the Type-26 – of its seakeeping performance. The need to fit in additional power and cooling equipment is reportedly degrading “the overall liveability of the ship‘s habitable space”, while the document warns of design compromises in the provision of fixed firefighting systems.

Last July, Defence Minister Peter Dutton approved a delay in commencement of construction on the first boat, from December 2022 to June 2024, but the report says this deadline is now tight.

It warns more schedule delays are expected, and there is a “very high risk” that increasing supply chain costs will “threaten project viability”.

BAE Systems is relying on its global supply chain, minimising risks associated with using unfamiliar Australian suppliers that would otherwise fall to the company, the report says.

The report predated the recent replacement of BAE Systems Australia chief executive Gabby Costigan, who will head the company’s global business development, by former chief technology officer Ben Hudson.

A Defence spokeswoman said the document was an internal management tool that provided a snapshot of program risks at a point in time, and solutions to the problems were “well underway”.

Chief of Navy Mike Noonan said he was “absolutely confident” that the Hunter-class frigates would be “a world-leading warship with state-of-the-art anti-submarine capabilities”.

Australian Strategic Policy Institute executive director Peter Jennings said the government should call “time out” on the program to ask “is this the right way to go?” He said Defence was “losing the confidence of government” because “it just doesn’t seem to be able to deliver”.

Australian Industry and Defence Network chief executive Brent Clark said delays in the Hunter-class program left BAE without a reasonable excuse to prioritise its foreign supply chain over Australian companies.

“Given our current strategic environment, the Australian government should be ensuring that an Australian capability is created by this and other defence programs,” Mr Clark said.

Under the revised timetable, the first ship will not be completed until 2031 and will enter service in 2033. The final frigate is scheduled to enter service in 2044.

The latest round of EF88 Austeyr rifle acquisitions between 2017 and 2020, the LAND 121 Landrover and Mog replacement projects, LAND 400 Phase 1 in 2020-22 (The new recce cars for Armour) and the original M1A1 Abrams acquisition in 2007.

Granted, the new MAN trucks have had issues with axle loading and road permits, and the Abrams have never really been properly resourced (and it seems we are not keeping and having refurbished the original 59 gun tanks when the 75 new ones arrive in the next 2-3 years), and we have yet to see what shenanigans will accompany the full entry into service of the Boxer recce car. But they all seem to have been put together quickly and mostly in time and on-budget.

The RFSV variants given to the Light Cavalry and Norforce, Pilbara Regiment and Far North Queensland Regiment are probably the best.

All ex-Army Perenties have a pretty bombproof little 4cyl Isuzu motor in them, but the RFSV gets a turbo, power steering and tend not to be quite as flogged out as any of the GS and FFR variants.

Yeah, I had been looking for one of the radio/recon ones with power steering.

In the end it was the availability of aftermarket support that won out.
Also the fact that the 1HZ cruiser engine will probably outlive me.

The news Church Militant has broken over the last week is beyond terrifying.

In short, it appears that a massive international web of intrigue surrounding COVID has been in the works for years, and what is emerging now is that Pope Francis’ Vatican is a major player in the worldwide conspiracy.

The list of players and organizations involved is nothing less than frightening — and spans the globe: Klaus Schwab’s World Economic Forum (based in Geneva, Switzerland), Xi Jinping (based in Beijing), Albert Bourla’s Pfizer Pharmaceuticals (based in New York) and Pope Francis’ Vatican (in Rome).

And, of course, there’s the China-Vatican accord linking Pope Francis to Xi Jinping. The story involves the funneling of billions of dollars from Beijing to Rome — confirmed now by two independent sources.

The first of those sources is Dr. Francesco Galietti, founder and CEO of Policy Sonar — a Rome-based public policy institute that analyzes how political changes affect world economic markets. He tracks fortunes in zero–hedge fund markets. He was the first, in the course of his work, to uncover billions of dollars moving from Beijing to the Vatican — a discovery Church Militant first informed you about coming up on two years ago.

The second independent (and unrelated) source is exiled dissident Guo Wengui, who has accused the Vatican of receiving $1.6 billion every year since 2014 in bribes from the Chinese Communist Party. He says Beijing is paying the Vatican “to shut up about China’s religious policies.” And noteworthy — even to this day, the Vatican has never denied the very public allegations.

Before the COVID-19 international campaign of fear, top mainstream media like The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times hailed Wengui as a celebrity tycoon. Of course, Beijing has branded Wengui an attention-seeking criminal.

Italians are starting to vociferously turn against the Church.Gab
That Vatican–China relationship, twice corroborated independently, stretches back to years before the pandemic exploded on the world (out of a Chinese lab in Wuhan).

However, given the emergence of the Wuhan virus, another dynamic appears to have taken shape as well (dovetailing with the already-cozy preexisting relationship). Pope Francis has been one of the leading figures on the world stage pushing vaccines like crazy. And when news emerged recently by reporter Ed Pentin (and doubled down on by Church Militant’s Rome correspondent Jules Gomes) that Pope Francis had met secretly — not once, but twice — with Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, alarms went off.

Given the close relationship between The Vatican and Beijing, Bourla meeting with the pope twice was immediately viewed as extremely suspicious, especially given that the Vatican refuses to acknowledge it ever occurred.

But, as they say, there’s more.

A so-called Catholic media group called Aleteia is going after anyone in the Church who opposes Pope Pfizer and the pro-vaccine messaging. Aleteia, with close connections to Magnificat Magazine (as well as the Vatican Communications Department and the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization), leads a newly formed consortium of roughly 30 pro-vaccine publications.

The main job of that far-flung consortium is to squash any rebellion to the Vatican’s pro-vaccine narrative. They’ve formed what’s called the International Catholic Media Consortium on COVID-19 vaccines and collected their efforts in a website, fallaciously called catholicfactchecking.com. Where did the money come from for all of that? Google. Google set up a $3 million fund to get so-called independent media sites to fight what they call COVID “misinformation.” Aleteia and its consortium partners were awarded a portion of those millions to conduct their “fact-checking” and slam any voice in the Catholic world telling you the truth about the COVID tyranny.

In an eyebrow-raising revelation, Aleteia’s group has on its self-described “scientific board” three members of the Pontifical Academy for Life (raising all kinds of ethical questions about an obvious conflict of interest). The Vatican backs the vaccine, so just how objective could an outfit be when “fact-checking” about the vaccine when it has close ties with the Vatican? And, spiritually speaking, how can a group touting itself as “Catholic” be taking money from an outfit like Google to shoot down other Catholics opposed to these abortion-tainted death-and-side-effect-causing jabs?

But Google isn’t the only outfit shoveling big bucks the Aleteia consortium’s way. So, too, are Goerge Soros and Bill Gates. Aleteia’s consortium consists of various groups that have received over $50 million from the anti-Catholic Soros and Bill Gates.

The people who fund Aleteia are the same people who are killing off Dr. Malone and others from social media.Gab
It’s all one stinking pot of Devil’s brew, concocted to shoot down any resistance from faithful Catholics — especially faithful Catholics in the media, and especially if those outfits, like Church Militant, conduct interviews with the likes of Dr. Robert Malone (inventor of the mRNA technology).

The people who fund Aleteia and its partners are the exact same people who are killing off Dr. Malone and others from social media and giant tech for telling the truth about COVID.

There are multiple things to be disturbed by here: China secretly funneling billions to the Vatican, secret meetings between the pope and the CEO of the most crooked pharmaceutical company on the planet, and all of this being conducted under the auspices of the global-reset agenda engineered by Klaus Schwab and his World Economic Forum.

But perhaps most troublesome is this: Despite Francis’ constant going on about being on the side of the poor and wanting a “poor Church” (which seems a little difficult to accomplish while communists are handing you billions and billions of dollars in hush money), Francis is doing the exact opposite, positioning himself and the Church actually against the little man.

In major cities all around the world, hundreds of thousands — millions — of people have taken to the streets to oppose the COVID tyranny. They are being persecuted by governments who enjoy the backing of these very people in these globalist outfits. Already, in Italy, Italians are starting to vociferously turn against the Church, rightly understanding the leadership cares nothing for them. Francis will be dead soon enough. But the damage he has done, setting the Church against the poor and putting the Church on the wrong side of history, will long outlast him.

Billions may buy you influence and access at the table of the wealthy, but it can’t buy you a single soul.

Someone’s gone strangely quiet. Probably still gloating over her upticks.
She comes in, fires up, and goes back to the bunker to stoke her righteousness.
And she’ll be back with some innocuous observation, till she needs another shot of upticks.

And now I’m going to do the final verboten, and say I’m off to bed.
Big day tomorrow. I am having a shingles vaxx.
Bit trepidatious but I think it is wise at my age.

Back when it was all happening, we were all following the Fitzgerald inquiry and waiting for the bit where he got to the involvement of the police in the drug business.

Strangely enough, the inquiry stopped without touching police/drugs.

We could do with a few re-visits to Gilbert & Sullivan – the current all men are bastards theme reminds me so much of Princess Ida where the princess was betrothed to Prince Hilarion but she’d decided to eschew all men in favour of a cloistered life in Castle Adamant. Hilarity ensues when Prince Hilarion and his two mates dress up as women to join the Women of Adamant — at this link there are a couple of quite funny videos with the three blokes dressed as women reminiscent of the two nongs who were on Dr Phil with Matt Walsh a couple of weeks ago.

Spooner’s toon is really sad. Littlest granddaughter starts school this week to the regime of RATS and masks. There is no need for them, just moronic government dictat.

On the rapid weight loss – it will slow down. He’s on a meal replacement for two out of three, so ULC for the present. He’ll drop it down to one in a few weeks. Like so many people (including me) he put on a heap last year. A combination of inactivity and a sense of hopelessness does that to some people.

No need for Affirmation Upticks. I’ve often wondered where all these agreeing people come from – I must be saying something wrong if everyone agrees with me here. No one ever does IRL! 😀

This campaign manipulated the public into acquiescing to measures with catastrophic second-order effects but little epidemiological value. Now that the damage has been done, the old arbiters of truth and morality will not get back the trust or credibility they’ve squandered.
