Incoherent Rambler:

Will all those who do not fall under the political or medical safety umbrella of indemnity who said: “it is safe and effective” find themselves in the ambulance chasers sights?

Damn fine question there, IR.

Turnbull, in 2007, here in Wentworth, was the only Liberal to have a swing to him. There was no swing to Spewhouse.

Sure, but I’m commenting in response to your original comment.

And your comment was that about 10 days out from the 24/11/2007 Poll, Rose Jackson, as Newhouse’s campaign Manager, made comments reported by the ABC and others, that many Wentworth residents found objectionable.

Do you concede that Jackson’s comments lost votes for Newhouse?

Bruce, you can make a decent electric guitar out of just about anything

Roger – This is his six vids:

1. A Jack Daniels whisky barrel guitar
2. A vintage oil can guitar
3. A National
4. A straight acoustic
5. A three string shovel guitar, as in: made from a shovel.
6. A Fender

That’s me looking at the pics. I know as much about guitars as I do cars, which is not much. But it’s a fine range of interesting guitars.

I had a stepmother give me an acoustic as a birthday present once, it was a fine gift. I was 13. But we didn’t have a radio in the house. I didn’t know what music was, except in high school Music classes. We used to sing Beatles songs with me not knowing who the Beatles were, since we never had any radio music. I’m sad I never did the beastie justice. I learned “E”. Nothing else…

Still looking for a cherry red one, although I did recently see a beautiful Cherry Red 2013 Epiphone Les Paul tribute. Very reasonably priced as well.

Cherry red is very nice.

I saw a Gibson Les Paul in a pawn shop recently, but it was black. Nothing against black guitars, but…

Aesthetics are important as you have to feel you want to pick up the guitar and play it.

Those Tributes have period specced Gibson pickups & wiring iirc so they’re a good alternative if the neck is good, which they tend to be.

That’s it. He’s done. Cooked.

I know I spruiked him 12 or 18 months back, but that was before he got mentally and permanently scarred by repeated bonce knocks (the Hun):

Will Pucovski’s cricketing future is in further doubt after suffering yet another concussion during warm-ups for Victoria in Adelaide.

The batting prodigy was in his first Sheffield Shield match back after missing the vast majority of the season with a head knock suffered at the start of the summer. The repeated and innocuous nature of the concussions he is suffering is becoming a major worry for the 24-year-old one-Test player.

Withdrew from the match and flew home immediately. The smallest knock now triggers symptoms associated with far more severe concussion events. It’s shit for him and shit for cricket, but a line can be put through him for good now.

I don’t believe there’s much of a message for Morrison from the by-election results. By-elections are always precarious for an incumbent government and this government here in this state is now twelve years old. In Willoughby, Gladys was a very, very popular member and her forced retirement angered many residents. Tim James, who’s won Willoughby narrowly, was up against a strong independent.

Whilst they retained the seat, there was virtually no swing to Labor in Strathfield.

I think Perrottet should just dispense with all the Covid porn……..the restrictions, the mandates and the masks. I think he’d see his popularity surge. The problem with so many politicians is that they’re beholden to unelected bureaucrats….and this is the problem, not just in this country but across the western world.

Animal rights activists Peta demand any new landlord of Britain’s oldest pub Ye Olde Fighting Cocks change its name to The Happy Hens and launch an all-vegan menu

Proposal came after landlord Christo Tofalli announced he was leaving the pub
He said this was down to financial difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic
PETA said the current name ‘calls to mind the violence and cruelty of a hideous blood sport that has been outlawed in the UK for more than a century
The group suggested Ye Olde Clever Cocks as a new name, as well as The Cheery Chooks and The Happy Hens – much to the displeasure of locals

Quite so. Once we entered into an Eisteddfod! Serious stuff. In Grafton, two hours away by bus. Our school had a folk bunch, which included me, and we also had a rock band. There were only three acts in our section. Us wet folkish people, them rockish people and someone from another school that I can’t remember. I think they may’ve been a classical orchestra of about two dozen kids. It was an eclectic grouping of “everything else not otherwise grouped”.

Us folk bunch came last out of the three. Can’t recall what we sang. I’m not sure where our rock band came, they were heavily influenced by Skyhooks at the time and threw Cheezles into the crowd (who, being a bunch of bored high schoolers, had no idea what was going on). They did better than us. It was the times.

The government mandates are tuning people into radicals. It’s 100% the fascist overlords fault.

The overlord’s only control is through ultimately the threat and/or implementation of violence.

They are in the wrong. Mandated medical procedures are indefensible.

To give an idea of crowd numbers I think it was about 5km of marchers packed fairly tightly over 4 to 5 lanes of traffic (there were also plenty of stragglers and a second wave came later). The distance from new parliament house to Commonwealth park is around 2.5k and there would have *easily* been enough for two lots of this.

100k bare minimum. 300k is probably optimistic but I don’t know the size of the second wave.

Something else I should add to the mystery of the $11k power bill – in WA, if you have a Commonwealth healthcare concession card (which this woman no doubt does), you get a $45 credit per two-monthly billing cycle PLUS a dependent child rebate of around $25 per kid. So this woman starts every billing cycle over $200 in the green. Tell me again how you run up an $11k power bill? Something doesn’t seem right.

She wasn’t aware the IMED pump she was attached to in ICU was beeping and I cottoned on pretty quick.

I didn’t know many guys in my Ecoms year. One year before the Easter break I asked one guy what he was doing? “Playing footy” “Oh, who for?” “The Eagles”. Turns out it was Paul Peos who later gained notoriety as a player manager, though never quite on a Ricky Nixon scale. I think I just went down south for a surf as usual.

No floristry discussions, I’m afraid. Lady Keno spat in my face as well.

Rockdoctor at 9.16:

Speaking of the things, K.D. how did you go with dropping the tank of fuel?

I texted the diesel mech in the family, reckons a third of a tank you are better to drop it and refill. If it is in the fuel lines will need a purge.

I haven’t done anything with it RD. Because I drove the fucking thing for 20 minutes after putting the (ahem) in the wrong (ahem) it has to be in the lines, especially as the tank was almost dry when I put it in.

I’m resigned to towing it on Monday and having the full purge done. The insurance punters told me to go fuck myself as well, which I expected.

To be fair Bartlett was already a Perthonality before he was poached by 60 Minutes which was already off its highs. He didn’t get put in a cupboard though.

Strap me in.

The suicide reduction is interesting. DOT will understand this, most won’t so don’t bother. ECT is extremely effective for otherwise treatment resistant depression. The response is rapid. I used to think ECT was simply about massive electron donation but that would lead to massive reductive stress. So one day I looked for BDNF implications and sure enough ECT markedly boosted BDNF concentrations. In an animal model of depression a BDNF infusion into the hippocampus rapidly reduced depressive like behaviors. The hippocampus is known to shrink in some cases of depression and also the major recipient of new neurons from the dentate gyrus, one of two regions in the CNS that produce new neurons. That’s important because BDNF promotes neurite outgrowth and has remarkable neuroprotective properties. The loss of neurogenesis and neurite outgrowth happens with depression and insufficient BDNF. The only way to boost BDNF is exercise.

The ECT response then is the opposite of what I originally thought. ECT drives a hormetic response thereby initiating transcription of BDNF. Perhaps, unfortunately my analysis has too much of the availability heuristic about it so I remain skeptical. The follow up to this which I will do at some point in my lazy life is the immunologic implications of ECT and subsequent BDNF. Oh look …

The only, and I mean only way for 60 Fuckups to regain its credibility is to hire a dodgy lawyer who’s only just been released from jail as a producer, and then gin up a ‘Where is Peter Falconio’ segment with spooky music and dark hints about people knowing who the real killer is.
