Jordan Peterson (Twitter account) has picked up a thread which links to a video of ex BlackRock top executive (who apparently accumulated for them a $14 billion portfolio) – Edward Dowd – who is predicting that it will be the USA insurance companies that will unpick this scandal and bring Pfizer and co to grief.

One America and others are currently being hit with insurance claims for deaths and injuries caused, not by COVID, but by the vaccines. He is predicting that a case for fraud may be brought against them for not providing correct data from early trials. If such a scenario happens, global governments, including our own, may be able to escape the transfer of liability in the contracts they signed. Hope so – because those claims may be astronomical.

(Sorry haven’t got link to Dowd’s statement – but it is on the Peterson twitter feed).

Yet another promising book to emerge during this insane period is Gad Saad’s new book “The Parasitic Mind”. Apparently he argues that the insanity is the product of the Culture Wars.

Forty billion would barely touch the sides on the amount of battery storage which would be needed. Even getting enough batteries would be tough, since everyone else is chasing batteries but no one wants a lithium mine near them.

But the fireworks would be very entertaining, especially seeing how hot a battery could get in an Australian summer next time an el Nino comes along.

Another Grid Scale Battery Fire “Incident” (17 Feb)

The world’s largest lithium ion battery is down, again

The Moss Landing Energy Storage Facility Phase II set off fire alarms that activated a fault water suppression system, which – again – set off a cascading set of events that resulted in roughly ten battery packs melting down.

I’m surprised there are so few of these in the news, but then the MSM would probably prefer not to report such incidents.

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks the end goal was to seize crypto & everything leading up to this was just theatre as far as Castro’s kid is concerned.

I went down the crypto rabbit hole in 2015 after my last Afghan tour completed my red-pilling. I felt the need for private, non seizable, non censorable money. Bitcoin met that need. I now have 7 years of experience with it and it is a prime reason why I am now in a position to say NO to big government.

As an Aussie abroad, you can commit numerous faux pas and not even know it.

And get away with it. They’re very tolerant of Aussies over there.

But it’s real. You meet some, say, lower middle class types and get on well with them. Later you meet some upper middle class types and get on well with them. Then, somewhere, both lots meet you and there’s an element of awkwardness before they manage to get used to the situation.

Glasgow Times:

Covid data will not be published over concerns it’s misrepresented by anti-vaxxers

LOL

What does the data currently show?

13 out of the 104 people who died of Covid in Scotland in the week ending Feb. 4 were unvaccinated. In the 4 weeks ending Feb. 4, 61 of the 478 people were unvaccinated

almost 9 out of 10 of the people who die in Scotland are vaccinated, and the vast majority of those are boosted. And deaths remain stubbornly high, even though Omicron is far milder.

Myess wouldn’t want that to be “misrepresented”! Down the memory hole it goes.

To those who say that bankers are not particularly bright – there is certainly plenty of evidence for that – just look at the recent Royal Commission here. But that not even one Canadian bank had the brains and balls to say “we’re not violating our customers’ privacy and civil rights”, and then watch the money flow in from fleeing customers of the rest, is extraordinary.

I suppose that Canadian banking is like ours – up to its neck in government regulation, in return for protection from outside competition. Hence, mediocrities abound at senior levels, being the go along to get along types with good networking skills.

I can’t believe the stupidity of Canadian banks in going along with this banana republic stuff.

The Canadian Bankers Association said in a statement Wednesday:

“Banks in Canada follow all applicable laws and regulations in carrying out their operations, in keeping with their commitment to protect the integrity of Canada’s financial system”.

So, rules, orders, and Systemintegrität.

It’s actually considerably worse than herding Nazis into cattle trucks ‘ going somewhere’.

In a media briefing Wednesday, senior government officials said they are in ongoing discussions with financial institutions on the applications of the order.

Asked if financial institutions have been given guidance over which people involved should be targeted, the officials said it was up to the institutions to do their due diligence but it would make sense to first focus on key sources of funding since the intent of the order is to limit funding to the protests.

So, the banks themselves will be kicking doors in at 3am and chasing verboten account holders into the street with rubber truncheons.

To have financial accounts unfrozen, either because someone has stopped protesting or because of mistaken identity, officials said individuals would have to reach out to their financial institutions who would then validate the information and take necessary measures.

Necessary measures.

Surely the last two years have shown the government can outlaw anything, any behaviour, any object, any movement, and activity it likes.

Similar to gold and silver, what good is bitcoin if you can’t pay your mortgage with it? What good is it, if you can’t pay your electricity bill with it? The survivalist then goes on to say “well I can pay it to the farmer directly at least”, but which farmer will accept bitcoin for a cow? How does that farmer hold onto his land and cows if he is not in and a part of the system himself. And if he’s in the system, why would he risk his position to accept your terrorist finance money?

Au-contraire, as the vaccination wars have shown, most people who accept their place in the system turn away from the people who refuse. They must for their own mental well being, let alone financial and business!

Cargo Ship Full of Porsches, Bentleys, Audis, and VWs Is On Fire and Adrift in the Atlantic

I know of at least two car carriers from the Tesla plant which caught fire and burned after Teslas on them had battery fires. I wonder how many of those 4000 or so German cars were electric?

I think the Tesla car carrier fires were because of the bouncing around as the semi trailer drove on the highway from the plant. A ship crossing the Atlantic would also subject newly manufactured EV batteries to a lot of sideways and up-and-down forces.

The article makes no mention of EVs, although that’s raised in the comments.

But Bitcoin is still valued in fiat. This is why I’m not convinced. If fiat is ultimately worthless, then they only thing backing bitcoin value is power consumption & the mining electronics

Whilst our legacy currrencies (dollars etc) retain some (albeit fast evaporating) purchasing power, people will tend to ‘convert back’ to that fiat to make purchases, BTC (and gold etc) have value irrespective of that. Once fiat currencies fail (due to inflation, or govt interdiction), people rapidly learn the intrinsic value of BTC (or gold etc) itself and stop converting back to fiat.

In Venezuela or Zim, you swap your gold or btc directly for what you want – the merchant doesn’t price his stuff in Bolivars or Zim$.

The value of any assett (including BTC) is determined by what the next person will give you for it – BTC is not really ‘backed’ by the mining expenditure, although its an interesting mental exercise to realise that all of life is about energy expenditure (food, heat, shelter, transport ) and hence money really represents stored energy/work. As such, ALL money has to be a ‘proof of work’ system, which is why fiat fails, and BTC is backed by energy expenditure.

Just as they all followed each other into the race to see who could be the most draconian about COVID, they are now all following each other in the race to get out. Take Doug Ford, the allegedly conservative Premier of Ontario:

ntario Premier Doug Ford said on Tuesday that his government will accelerate its timetable for lifting coronavirus restrictions, reopening businesses, and terminating its vaccine passport system.

The world’s done with it, so let’s just move forward,” he said of the pandemic.

Like other Canadian politicians, Ford insisted his enthusiasm for lifting pandemic restrictions was not a result of the massive Freedom Convoy protests.

The Globe and Mail quoted Ford portraying himself as a longtime skeptic of harsh mandates who has been very quietly chomping at the bit to get rid of them:

In other words, the wind is changing and he’s changing with it.

Further down, the article reminds us that the slippery Ford actually supported Trudeau’s use of emergency powers against the truckers only days ago.

We see the same thing here, with our Premiers/Chief Ministers suddenly finding that COVID restrictions that only recently were saving us from disaster are now not needed.

But, to save face, they keep a few random ones, different in every jurisdiction, because ‘the science.’

What a farce, and what a tragedy. All the suffering that was inflicted over the past two years is now airbrushed from the picture.

They are not anti-vax. They are anti-mandate.

They are anti-‘government telling you what you have to put in your body’.

They are anti-‘companies telling you what medical procedures you must have when every other aspect of a person’s life, no matter how weird or fringe, must be protected and celebrated as special’.

Trust the ABC not to understand the ‘freedom’ bit.

But misrepresenting them by labelling them with what has traditionally been the preserve of the left – its sub-group that believes in magic and fairies and tarot cards and subtle-bodies and auras and chakras and other illusory constellations for the aimless to navigate their lives forever at sea – who believe vaccines are a conspiracy.

Yeah, you’d’ve thought he’d’ve learned something in the election campaign when he was smeared by everything the Left could come up with. The “Canadian Trump” was used often as I recall.

We’re getting this stupid stuff too from guys like Ted Cruz and Mike Pence lately. They have to be taught that no compromise and no Vichy behaviour is acceptable. I suspect Ford has guaranteed himself losing the next election and thereafter never being in office in an elected position ever again.

About those supply chain disruptions…

Cargo Ship Full of Porsches, Bentleys, Audis, and VWs Is On Fire and Adrift in the Atlantic

I wonder if there were any EVs on that ship.

Normally, a car carrier would be expected to have effective fire suppression systems to deal with an on-board fire in the cargo. It would be standard maritime risk-management. One of the very worst things that can happen on a ship is fire, so a LOT of attention is paid to fire suppression. There are rules governing how cargo and containers with dangerous goods are stored to minimise the risk of interaction and subsequent fire or other reactions.

We know that when one of these EV batteries lights up, you cannot stop it with normal measures. Is there a “safe” way to transport EVs, given their batteries are a very hot chemical reaction waiting to happen under the wrong circumstances? Are EVs usually shipped on regular car carriers? If so, I have to wonder if the stowage arrangements and onboard fire suppression systems on car carriers have been upgraded to manage that risk; and if they have, is the upgrade sufficient.

The loss of a ship and its cargo is no small thing in money terms. The insurance investigation is likely to be interesting.

Gin.

Gin o’clock used to be an uncomplicated time. As the sun went down you lazily filled a glass with a few ice cubes and added a nip or two or Gordon’s or Beefeater, topping it up with tonic water and a sliver of fresh lime.

A simple gin and tonic, powered by distinct notes of juniper and citrus, was the ideal, no fuss, and refreshing pre-dinner cocktail. One is always enough.

However, I regret to say gin etiquette has gone out the window. Distillers are messing with the recipe. I went on a gin hunt and spent two weeks sipping oddball concoctions infused with everything from Indian turmeric (Bombay Sapphire Sunset) to native Tasmanian botanicals (Quintessence) to pinot noir, (Eleven Bridges) shiraz (Four Pillars) and even rhubarb (Several). Yes rhubarb

A visitor from Amsterdam said the pink gin made it a more interesting snap on Instagram.

I suspect the La Plancheliere had been coloured by grape skins or pimped with a French rose to deliver a faint strawberry vibe. I didn’t mind La Plancheliere, although one critic gave it an unflattering review and said it tasted like bubblegum.

I thought Citadelle Gin smelled vaguely of Toowoomba violets and posh after shave. It had an agreeable taste. I liked it a lot.

From Sky News today. I haven’t tasted gin for decades, and if it’s now a choice between posh aftershave and bubblegum I’ll go for a cabernet instead.

And then telling everyone about it*, in the complete expectation that tsunamis of critical acclaim would ensue and that nobody would seize on that golden opportunity to take the piss.

Don’t be ridiculous, KD. You are meme-making. Taking Johanna’s truly evil cues again.

I commented on the amount of traffic from Vaucluse to the city during lockdown when I was driving some supplies to my son in Surry Hills, but more particularly, to check that he was OK. I joked that I had some toilet rolls on the seat to indicate the supplying situation if I was pinged for breaking lockdown. And that is all. The response is all yours and nothing to do with me.

From this we get your meme above. It’s all about Vaucluse, the Audi and me as ‘my lady bountiful’.
What utter rot. That’s exactly the same as Tim Nielson’s misrepresentation of my observation concerning a lady from a golf club freaking out about swearing. I observe, no more, and report on observations. From this – memes get set in motion in part by a vicious attacker over years, who has barrows to push, who should be pulled up for her bullying abuse.

No wonder I am disgusted with this place. And shouldn’t be here, I know, answering the myriad of stupid memes and incorrect statements being made about me. If I wasn’t dizzy in the head from Covid I’d be dizzy in the head from the sheer weight of nonsense flying around here, and which I am best out of. I see the crowing has already started by the woman in question. Best you all get on with it.

KD, I spent my childhod in a ‘nasty little fibro’, Housing Commission, still very much the same, in Champness Crescent, St. Mary’s. So much for the ‘meme’ you think I have about that. I went there recently; it is the one at the beginning of the Crescent, still looking very daggy although the garden is tidier and there’s now a carport and a better fence. Go visit some day. It’s improved since I lived the there, I am sure the bath is not tin, although Sainties itself is still pretty gross, worse because there are no middle class left there at all. You can’t go to the Mt. Druitt dump we moved to later, because the F4 runs over it now. I’ve also seen the insides of more public housing units in Sydney’s inner city than you have I’ve no doubt, helping out as much as I can. I’ve said I help there, but I don’t include it on my list of voluntary work that I do as requested by Farmer Gez – who seems a good bloke, btw. His heart is clearly in the right place. I do the public housing visits for my family and people my family say need help, and they surely do.

Your spin, KD, is just spin. And unworthy of you as an otherwise good person. Like many here.

its an interesting mental exercise to realise that all of life is about energy expenditure (food, heat, shelter, transport ) and hence money really represents stored energy/work. As such, ALL money has to be a ‘proof of work’ system, which is why fiat fails, and BTC is backed by energy expenditure.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Arthur C. Clarke once predicted that the kilowatt-hour would eventually become the universal unit of exchange. Dunno what random year in the next century or two he predicted, though.

KD must have been writing about a different one than what I thought of seeing his comment.
I immediately thought of the catalyst for Great Flounce I, which was Lizzie writing a lengthy, pointless screed detailing numerous acts of supposed altruism towards her relatives, and finishing by describing “Hairy” saying to her “I don’t know how they’d cope without you”.

In that instance too, “tsunamis of critical acclaim” failed to ensue and some commenters did “seize on that golden opportunity to take the piss”.

That resulted in the first of Lizzie’s now habitual declamations that she’d never again comment on the site, which are invariably followed by the ludicrous farce of yet another reappearance.

If you want proof that we now live in a demented pagan world, the piece I posted earlier about the Randwick Greens councillor and her demented statement about the death of the man at Little Bay by the shark is proof of this. The dominating narrative now is that it’s very mean to net sharks and to use drum lines in order to protect human life from shark attacks….because, because the the ocean is the domain of the shark. Human life doesn’t matter anymore….it has to take second place to some white pointer shark because the progressive mantra is that the life of a white pointer is more valuable than a human being. Since time immemorial human beings have undertaken brutal measures against animals, this was the key to our success and survival as a species. We would not have survived on land without measures such as tracking and killing wild animals so as to protect us.

But now…shark lives matter, human lives not so much.

THE PRICE OF A PERMANENT EMERGENCY
by Graham Shearer
2 . 16 . 22

The current protests against vaccine mandates in Canada reveal that government authority and legitimacy are more fragile than we ordinarily suppose. For in emergencies, it is not only governments who respond. The Canadians who are protesting vaccine restrictions also appeal to extraordinary circumstances to justify their actions. After Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau complained that the protesters “are trying to blockade our economy, our democracy, and our fellow citizens’ daily lives,” the Babylon Bee published an apt headline: “Trudeau Demands Protesters Stop Shutting Down City So That He Can Shut Down City.” Governments who claim that circumstances require extraordinary measures may find that their citizens also take extraordinary measures.

Looks like Bear was right. My work is not done – it’s beginning to look like painting the Harbour Bridge.

Note the typical and transparent pleas for sympathy “if I wasn’t dizzy in the head” etc with a built in get out clause for later use.

Your poor husband. How many times have you told him you are leaving to try to get your way? If the internet is any guide, it probably worked, and you can’t understand why it isn’t working here.

Like Knuckles, I remember the halcyon days when you boasted about your sex life, your perky tits, your diamonds, interspersed with Angela’s Ashes in Western Sydney. Oh, and the boasting about hubby No. 1’s University Medals while describing him as a cad and a bounder. Those were the days when you peddled a bit of soft porn for the old blokes who believed your lies about your age.

And, the selflessness for the less fortunate, which we were told about in excruciating detail. Cats and Kittehs were suitably chastened about their own lack of charity, which must be the case because they never mentioned it.

Details of dinners with The Highest in the Land were often mentioned, as were academic records from more than half a century ago, because this site is inhabited by stupes who need to be put in their place.

(BTW, I got 100/100 for Arithmetic in third class. I hope all Cats and Kittehs give this important fact the attention it deserves).

I won’t pick more than I have to at the scab called The Book. Suffice it to say that for a long time this fake told us she was writing a Very Important Book about King Arthur or something, and dined out on it for years and years. Some people fell for it and imagined that she is a true interlecshural and skolar.

The book never materialised.

Unfortunately for Putin all the lefty pollies, which presently is just about the whole lot of them, have rabid green-prog bases who think gas is the devil’s flatulence and want to replace it with cavorting unicorns on treadmills. So they really don’t mind Putin turning off the taps.

Consequently the gas price keeps rising and they do nothing…because that is exactly what their bonkers rank and file want. Very frustrating for a wannabe gas monopolist. Of course he could turn the taps back on again, but the price would go back down and he’d’ve gained nothing, except egg on his face.

Then there’re the rude knuckle dragging capitalists from across the ocean…

Russia claims Donbas genocide by Ukraine forces (17 Feb)

Meanwhile, Russia’s Investigative Committee claims that mass graves of hundreds of Russian-speaking civilians had been found in the Donbas region, and the Russian government is accusing Ukraine of genocide.

The Russian news agency RIA reported that Ukrainian forces were the first to open fire, when representatives of the “People’s Republic of Luhansk,” a group of rebels allegedly supported by the Russians, claimed that the Ukrainian army opened fire on them and used machine guns and grenades against them. “Ukraine’s military forces have grossly violated the ceasefire, using military weapons,” Maariv reported Luhansk representatives saying.

They have just made Morrison a liar. He said people are free to protest peacefully, it’s their democratic right, blah blah blah, and then uses his police force to punish them for protesting.

Is it “his” police force though?
I think KD posted here once that the AFP comprises two separate arms.
The “big picture” counter terrorism, international crime branch and the ACT local police branch.
I assume the latter ran the active protest stuff (although the former were probably there gathering intel on grudge Nazis).
Firstly, who is accountable for ACT policing and secondly, can we categorically say ScoMo was involved at a tactical level?

Cassie –
Running up against the same shite with respect to attacking birds (plovers) in my area. Now, I’m not one to begrudge the things a chance to reproduce, but when they’re still swooping in February with no nests or babies anywhere, attacking kids in their yards hundreds of meters away from any nest that’s existed in the last 20 years (and remember – no nests now), and swooping to make contact when they do, then it’s time to do something.

A few things:
Anyone with more than half a brain can see that the issue is too many plovers. They’ve got themselves all worked up because they’ve over-produced for the area in which they live.

They’re almost exclusively attacking small children and small dogs – and don’t give me that crap about them being worried about things of that size -the birds are left alone and the dogs are on leash.

Rang the council not expecting much, but got a promise that they’d send someone out to have a look. Said “look, if all you can do is put up signs, don’t bother”. So they sent someone out, he confirmed that, yes, there were an awful lot of plovers for the area, but that he couldn’t do anything because there were no nests to put signs up around.” fk me dead.

These people start with “oh, we just want to be nice to the animals”, but very rapidly turn it into “animals have more of a right to live than humans”.

PS: Bruce – don’t want to hear it. You’re part of the problem.

Sharks nets and drum lines save lives….so if the Greenies get their way (and they will) and nets and drum lines go, get ready for more fatal attacks

Cassie, Fred Pawle at the Oz (a lifelong surfer) has written several pieces on the phenomenal recent increase in human/large toothy fish “interactions” (many of which have been fatal) in coastal areas across the nation since greenfilth imbeciles started sabotaging protective measures such as nets and drum lines.

If you want to drive yourself into a fury of flabbergastedness, listen to one of those anti human greenfilth imbeciles try to explain away the inevitable increase in these “interactions” and how this is indeed, a good thing. Almost as infuriating as listening to one of the monumental morons talking about “our clean green (no) energy future”.

I can assure you that government CANNOT seize/ban/outlaw bitcoin – any stories to the contrary are false

Happy to be corrected and educated, but it was my understanding that:

Governments cannot seize BC, or any other cryptos but, unless you hold them in your hardware-encrypted USB or SDD, they can compel the crypto exchanges to hand over your ID, given and verified when you opened the account. You can fill-in the rest.

They can also ban and outlaw crypto use, as they’re in the process of doing. China and the US are already on that particular “journey”, the rest will follow.

Lastly, the SHA-256 encryption algorithm has always been a problem IMO. Mainly because it was created by the NSA and, although no backdoor has been found yet, no one can prove that the algorithm is NP-hard, ie. it’s only a matter of time before some autistic number theorist who can’t tie his shoe-laces finds an exploit, as has happened to various AESes, Diffie-Hellmann and even some RSA.

And who knows whether the NSA already has the processing power to break SHA by brute force? Not something they’d be publicising or boasting about.

It doesn’t matter

I’ll qualify that. Of course it matters. The truth always matters.

All this stuff is predicated on the perceived ignorance of the populace. The ABC drops an “it’s all okay, nothing to see here” piece with snippets of truth interspersed with assumptions and outright lies. What is a casual reader to do? It’s usually accepted because pulling it all apart is too taxing and time consuming.

And they are already primed to acceptance because it’s from a source they trust.

The AFP and the Commonwealth bureaucracy runs itself and is controlled by a “shadow” – for lack of a better word, class of self appointed elites that answer to each other first, their cultural apparatus (The ABC, Age, SMH, etc, etc), second and parliament third. Morrison and other elected representatives are lucky they’re allowed into the city, let alone into the government buildings let alone be involved in what’s going on outside of providing abstract “direction”.

In fact a few short months ago they weren’t allowed into the city.

Hopefully Australia will start to see what a nasty little captured termites nest their hugely neglected – in so far as aussies caring about it, capital city is. And having “the government” – I.e the the lower house in parliament, is only about 30% of what is necessary to control a country. You can have the parliament, but if the capital city is 95% communist, good luck getting anything done.

Same problem Trump had.

Great Flounce I, which was Lizzie writing a lengthy, pointless screed detailing numerous acts of supposed altruism towards her relatives, and finishing by describing “Hairy” saying to her “I don’t know how they’d cope without you”.

Fuck me dead and call me Covid, you certainly do know how to make things up, Tim Nielsen. Like the way you chased me through about five pages here demanding, demanding, demanding for me to ‘acknowledge’ something that I and every other epidemiologist could clearly see (although some insane anti-vaxxers couldn’t), which was the 82% of women in early pregnancy were not losing their babies due to the vaxx. And I am no fan of mRNA vaxxes, having a second quite damaged with synovitis after his second vaxx. I am however, a trained epidemiologist and being ‘demanded’ to see a problem which was clearly one of improper categorization, and then being called ‘beclowned’ for it, was beyond reason. You did that, Timothy Nielsen.

I can’t agree with your quote Timothy, as written, in fact I think this is another misrepresentation, but yes, I have posted stuff here about some problems I have had at times with rellies, and it is true that my husband has said some of them should learn to cope without me. I don’t seek acclaim for coping, but I thought it was ok to share problems here. Drug addiction has been one familial problem. Autism has been another, as it runs in my family. My latest worry – youngest grandson, nearly three, is not yet verbal. I am very worried about him, as a possible third autistic one in the family. Getting speech therapy with a mask on both him, poor little kid, and his instructor, is another Covid nightmare.

Statements like Timothy’s above get twisted into more memes about me and I get fed up and leave the Johana-induced bullshit here until I am enticed back by some, welcomed back strongly in fact on my 78th birthday, and I think that the nonsense of the memes will stop and that the attacks by Johanna will cease. It is clear now that they are encouraged and will never cease, and that I have been very mistaken about the goodwill on this site.

Mention social class and the world of many collapses into a set of ridiculous memes. It makes people very uncomfortable, as is well recognised by researchers, me included. It’s an interesting aspect of Australian life and maybe worth me writing something about sometime.
But not here although it is a treasure trove of case studies.

Their use as a means of crowd control can cause permanent damage to hearing and tinnitus. This is going well beyond tear gas.

Ukrainian agony – The concealed war (full English version by Mark Bartalmai)

Since mid-July 2014, our war correspondent team is still on site in the southeast of Ukraine – in the Donbass. We shot countless videos and scored over a thousand photos. The team of “Keep a close eye on by Mark Bartalmai” was the ONLY western and German team of journalists with the highest level of accreditation and therefore had access to many critical points in this civil war. Our materials are now being used in a documentary.

We made this documentary film from over 3 terabytes video that were filmed in several months on site.

It shows the different areas of the war in recounting episodes and individual stories – of civilians, soldiers and journalists. The focus is on the personal perspectives of each of the actors, supported by the recorded material, during and after the bombing of cities, battles and on people’s lives under war conditions in the middle of Europe.

The documentary is not an action movie. Rather, it lives from spoken word, by the voices of the people of the interviews and their impressions. Accompanied with sequences of events it draws a picture of the personal feelings of the participants – whether civilians, soldiers and journalists.

“Ukrainian Agony” is a silent film about the immense volume and violence of war. The propaganda has reached a new level of “quality”. Disinformation, concealment, half-truths up to outright lies are the “weapons” of certain Western media in this war – in an unprecedented degree.

Just looking at the Daily Telegraph today and they have an interactive map of Sydney shark deaths, going back over a century. Most of the attacks before nets were fatal and they didn’t happen in deep water. The last known fatality, in 1963, was a Balmoral beach and she was wading knee deep in water.

Off topic but amusing: Been watching Inventing Anna and enjoying it, especially the scene regarding the imposter’s troubles in Marrakesh, where she landed with a group of admirers who thought she’d be picking up the entire tab for their five-star pleasures that, in the end, the most gullible member of the crew had to pay for.

Well, later, one of Anna’s biggest and most trusting dupes is asked why she didn’t turn in the imposter/confidence trickster to police. She replies:

“I didn’t want a foreign woman arrested in Donald Trump’s America”

It’s just beautiful! There she is with freeloading mates in Marrakesh running up the room service bill, swooning to be in close proximity with serious money and revelling in their self-anointed elite status — and Donald Trump is perceived as the ultimate moral leper.

If it was used as a bullhorn and wasn’t used in ear-bleed mode, then so what?

“We had mustard gas, and could have used it on the crowd of peaceful protesters, but we didnt, so what”?

They deployed a device which can cause mass injury/disability and long term injury but didnt switch it on. Im not awfully comfortable with that.

except this device has a purpose other than injury — loud hailer.

Are you as uncomfortable at at live music concerts?

You wait till I do a flounce! It will be like the heat of a thousand suns. It will make Tunguska look like a gentle zephyr whispering over the Siberian steppes.

There’ll be no returning from that one for the interwebs will be fried on account of my extreme displeasure.

Meanwhile…I shall eat much…much popcorn.

Excellent article at Spiked about class and politics:

Leftists across the Western world have become so alienated from working-class people that when they see truckers taking to the streets their immediate thought is, ‘Oh fuck, the Nazis are back’. They essentially now fear working-class power. They think it is de facto fascistic. Demented anti-fascism is now one of many means through which these bourgeois posers peddle their class hatred.

We’ve known for some time that the left is morally lost, intellectually spent and in bed with the very elites it claims to rail against. But the truckers’ revolt could well be the final nail in the coffin – for any claim contemporary leftists might once have had to be on the side of workers. The left as we knew it is gone, and it isn’t coming back.

That is what the real class lines look like today.

Is it “his” police force though?

Yes. He is the Prime Minister who is supposedly responsible for the actions of his cabinet. His cabinet includes Karen Andrews, the minister responsible for the Australian Federal Police. The Australian Federal Police switched on their sonic toys.

Morrison is responsible for their actions, whether he personally authorised and sanctioned their actions is not a consideration. If some rogue officers decided to turn the accursed thing on without his foreknowledge and approval then he must apologies to those assembled in the crowd and discipline the perpetrators.

Speaking of class, there’s a new series out called ”The Gilded Age” from the creator of Downton Abbey.

Early days but doesn’t seem too bad; I can see Jane Austen influences.

Lot of it about since Powerline melted down yesterday after nearly two decades.

I could have been like you and taken 30 vaccines before you realized it was all bullshit.

I broke a nail once. Must have been because I was depressed about having both my legs torn off by a rogue shopping trolley.

Two months later I was coming to terms with the cost of having all my trousers and jeans adjusted and, lo and behold, the nail had grown back!

And that was without any of your crazy 5G-enabled nanobot infused vaccines!

She’ll be back, because to her nothing is worse than being ignored.

I am however, a trained epidemiologist and being ‘demanded’ to see a problem which was clearly one of improper categorization, and then being called ‘beclowned’ for it, was beyond reason.

Anyone who wants to know the truth about this can go to the 16 October 2021 Open Thread where Lizzie decided to prolong a stoush that had occurred on the 11 October thread.
Lizzie’s opening salvo on the 16 October thread, my “in case you’ve just tuned in” summary and Lizzie’s response to my summary (all between about 2pm to 4 pm 16/10) will be sufficient to enlighten the discerning about the general characteristics of the events.

Apropos of “misrepresentation”, though, I never “demanded” that Lizzie believe the 82%. I just pointed out that the 82% was derived by simple arithmetic from the very data that the authors of the paper in question had propounded, and that Lizzie’s prancing strutting preening denunciation of the “idiot commenters” etc. (i.e. those who had pointed out that simple arithmetical truth) totally failed to acknowledge that simple and incontrovertible truth, thus rendering her repeated dogmatic denunciations a spectacularly calamitous exercise in slapstick boffo self-beclownment.

I can’t agree with your quote Timothy, as written, in fact I think this is another misrepresentation,

Well, that’s not an outright denial, so it needn’t be a cause of further dispute when I stick to my story.
Actually we may be making slight progress. She’s not attempting to deny that such a performance would have been downmarket showboating.

If only there was another cheaper, more widely available device that could do the same thing without a switch going all the way to “long term physical injury”

Something like this. perhaps

And i dont attend concerts where the promoters promise they wont release the bees/ deliberately cause injury, unless they think its necessary.

The problem with the current LRAD accusations is that they are blown out of proportion.

Police took their weapons to these protests.
Were they ‘deployed’ ?
Is anyone upset?

Saying an LRAD was ‘deployed’ is over egging the situation.

Senator Thorpe has claimed Aus Govt purchase of aboriginal flag is “colonisation of our flag.”

What is the opposite of colonisation – like, when you decided to create a ‘flag’ in the first place.

Despite Pascoe’s assurances of indigenous space programs, quantum computers, genetic engineering, and ubiquitous agriculture, I believe they were vexillologically unsullied.
