Rabz, I am well aware that this one is Usain Bolt v a Galapagos tortoise.
However, I played perfectly fair. At 2.49pm I referred readers to one of Lizzie’s posts, my subsequent post, and then Lizzie’s response to my post. I was perfectly willing to let her have the last word and let readers judge on the basis of that last comment by her. If she chooses to make further misrepresentations, surely I’m at least allowed to suggest that she back them up with verifiable references to the source material.

Yuendumu: First shot failed to stop armed teen Kumanjayi Walker, court told

Amos Aikman
Northern Correspondent
@amosaikman
An hour ago February 18, 2022

The first shot Zachary Rolfe fired into Kumanjayi Walker did not “incapacitate” the Aboriginal teenager, who retained control of an “edged weapon” capable of inflicting an injury that could cause death within minutes, a court has heard.

The expert evidence elicited from prosecution witnesses may become crucial in the defence of the young Northern Territory policeman.

The jury in Constable Rolfe’s murder trial has been repeatedly told about a police training maxim, “knife equals gun”.

Constable Rolfe shot Walker three times after the latter stabbed him with scissors during a botched attempted arrest in the troubled outback community of Yuendumu.

The jury has heard NT police officers are taught to draw their firearm if an offender produces anything “capable of penetrating … cutting, slashing or drawing blood”.

That could be a knife but could also be a pen, a credit card, some plastic or household keys.

They are taught to fire if necessary and to keep firing until the subject is “incapacitated”.

The term means no longer able to inflict harm on the officer or on another person.

Kerrie Sutherland, an emergency specialist formerly attached to Alice Springs Hospital, treated Constable Rolfe after the Yuendumu incident. She testified the puncture wound he received was “less than three millimetres” and did not require stitches.

She said he presented at the hospital alert, with a full range of motion to his shoulder and not exhibiting any signs of pain.

More from the article in the Oz. I’m wondering, irreverently, how Kerrie Walsh would have reacted if she had been stabbed with a pair of scissors…

When the police chief quit this week, Deans made a move to replace him with someone from out of town — without going through the proper process, without any competition for the position, and failing to even notify the city council.

There’s a new default question we have to ask any time these quick change artists go to work:
“Is the replacement a graduate of Schwab School?”

Are they the Eric Cartman of the WEF?
“Screw you guys, I’m coming from Schwaaab Schoool.”

Et cetera.

Was watching the teev tonight while they were breathlessly expounding on the Soviet/Ukraine war, with footage of troops from both sides obviously in real firing warfare, from individual firearms to heavy machine guns on armour. It looked like all hell had broken loose.

Just then I noticed one small detail … and even watched other footage to check. In every single one of those “live-firing” videos there were bloody great BFAs on the muzzle of the weapons! Obviously, that was footage from various exercises from who knows where or when.

If there IS a real shooting war, the media carry at least 50% of the blame!!

New restrictions are a-comin’ in the West:

Premier unveils restrictions to limit spread
From 6am Monday, the indoor mask mandate is also set to be extended to apply to the entire state.

At the same time ‘level one measures’ are due to come into effect for Perth

And here’s another restriction slapped onto the pile:

The Premier also revealed that, based on health advice, bottle shops would be removed from proof of vaccination requirements immediately.

“This is being done ahead of a review of other proof of vaccination and contact registration measures, given that we’re entering the next phase of the pandemic,” he said.

Um, what? There is a lot wrong with this right here. Firstly, the proof of vaxx requirements – according to McFuckface’s government – affects a tiny, insignificant proportion of the population. So what’s this all about? Why bother? Why is this restriction being lifted while others are being imposed? What’s so special about bottle shops? What the hell health advice is informing this decision? Why was the restriction put in place in the first instance, and why does “entering the next phase of the pandemic” mean it should be lifted? IMMEDIATELY?

This really doesn’t make sense, and I mean it doesn’t make sense using the state’s logic. It runs contra to everything McFuckface has pulled thus far.

Watching the nuke plant doco something I hadn’t thought of was the big economic boost for the local community during the construction phase. When I read about the cost of a nuke plant what I don’t read is this economic benefit to the local community. We need nuke plants and it would help if those advocating that incorporated that economic aspect into the picture.

Promise locals within 25kms free electricity.

Unvaccinated people allowed to enter bottle shops in WA as State reaches 95 per cent double-dose vaxxed

Claimed it was due to medical advice! LOL

Yeah, because the science says that buying groceries from Aldi is safe, but if the unvaccinated punter tries to also buy a bottle of wine, then he will be in danger or a danger to others.

No, I reckon this was all due to Gemma Tognini’s column in The West Australian from a couple of days ago, that utterly ridiculed McClown’s useless and spiteful policies.

OK, KD. You can win your bet. Before a new fred starts, which I won’t enter, I like to say:

I will answer firstly, Timothy Nielsen. Tim, I had seen internet comment on the spurious result that had tried to justify it in terms that showed the anti-vaxx commenters I saw (not your commenters) did not comprehend the arithmetic error and were trying to abstract it from the population comparison data. You simply refused to believe I had seen such a comment, but in fact the same thing is going on and people are still referring to the 82% figure and trying to justify it even though the demoninator has been replaced for that indice. Yes, there was a reporting error in the study, which confounded the indice for spontaneous abortion. I agreed on that and agreed with the NEJM and I also commented, along with Arky and Gilas, that the study (really just a cohort time defined report) was unclear in its denominator for spontaneous abortion and pretty lax in general. I said the NEJM recognised egg on the face over this preliminary report, and that was the end of it as far as I was concerned. That you have such a long and silly dragging out of this shows how very much to wish to diss me. Too bad.

And Pogria. I loved that movie about Florence. Who wouldn’t? If you see me at home in it singing a swansong, or hitting a high note of farewell, all so well and good. My voice under Covid would currently rival that poor deluded lady’s anyway. The latest Otello being sung at the Opera House looks pretty good. If I was around, and if we can get tickets, I’d review it here, as is my wont. But generally, I think it will be my won’t. As we’re on opera, we dropped our tickets to the Brisbane Ring Cycle though; too many cancellations and anyway, I don’t think I would much like it stripped of all of its powerful Scandinavian mythology, as they are intending to do. I didn’t know that when we booked.

And KD, hoist on his own petard. Sadly, we have not yet replaced the pebblecrete at our entrance so we are very shown up by the glorious sandstone and limestone next door. I guess we will do it soon now you’ve determined that it certainly lowers the tone. Strangely, we have managed to live with it for years so far. We can easily afford to change it, but the impetus to do so has been lacking.

Shame on us. 🙂

Bad luck Lizzie, new comments show up at the side bar so you couldn’t sneak this one in as the last word without being spotted.

Before a new fred starts, spurious – it started nine or ten hours before you posted this which I won’t enter, we’ll see.

I will answer firstly, Timothy Nielsen.

You’ve totally failed to answer me. You’ve spun all that bullshit before. I’ve totally and incontrovertibly proved with verbatim quotes and verifiable references from the original thread how you beclowned yourself by refusing to accept that the 82% was derived from the authors’ own 827, 700 and 104 figures, and then when you were confronted with the truth bomb that 104/(827-700)=82% having absolutely no answer except all the non sequiturs you’re still spinning. Every time you frantically concoct more retrospective irrelevant spin without being able to answer the actual proof of your self-beclownment you just make the truth more clear.
Sufficient proof of the actual nature of your self-beclownment is at at Timothy Neilsonsays:

Non sequiturs don’t cut it in response to that proof. If you had any contrary evidence from the relevant thread you have had plenty of chances to post it, but you haven’t.

That you have such a long and silly dragging out of this shows how very much to wish to diss me. Too bad.

Let’s re-roll the tape. Yes, the person who dragged this out of the distant past was none other than the multiple annual winning and still reigning Ms Lack Of Self-Awareness:

Fuck me dead and call me Covid, you certainly do know how to make things up, Tim Nielsen. Like the way you chased me through about five pages here demanding, demanding, demanding for me to ‘acknowledge’ something that I and every other epidemiologist could clearly see (although some insane anti-vaxxers couldn’t),

Please stay, who cares about the stupid study?
I see zero real world evidence of excess miscarriage because vaxxed.
Or people dropping like flies from the million and one diseases the vaxxed are supposed to be afflicted with.
According to the ‘real experts’ apparently 50 percent of the vaxxed were supposed to have died in 2021.
Still waiting for my ADE.
Taps foot.
