The absolute moral collapse of the UK in full sight-
If you protest against the government trampling your God given rights, you will be filmed, police will arrive at your house, you will be physically assaulted and arrested.

However, if you are prepared to shoot, stab, blow up, strangle, drown or burn up Russians…. well the UK government will support you.
Why don’t you go Liz?

Angouleme cathedral got banged around a bit in the war of religion, survived being a temple of reason during the terror and got Romanesque renovated in the mid nineteenth century, some Gothic chapels removed and still a little controversial.
Inside is very white, very light and very cold.
There was a couple of those outdoor restaurants heaters on, I left the areas for the regulars and they clustered.
A couple of the African ladies got a blessing during distribution of the Eucharist with the chalice placed on their head, a novelty to me.

A perfect way to highlight just how fucked up and CORRUPT the Ukraine is.

A Jewish leader, one that survived Nazis, in charge of a battalion of neo Nazis fighting for Ukraine.

Wrap your head around this and you may find out there more to this than meets the eye.

Obviously I’m not saying nor have I said that ALL Ukrainians are goose stepping Hitler loving idiots.

The Ukraine does have a legacy of working WITH the Nazis during the Second World War though.

Which included the industrialised murder of Jews, gypsies, poles and other Slavic people.

‘I wish I could share more, but for now I can say it’s pretty obvious to many that something is off with #Putin’, the Republican Senator for Florida wrote…

He has also warned Putin’s inner circle may ‘soon have to decide whether to go along with new orders that will make them internationally wanted war criminals for the rest of their lives.’

Certainly not if your own forces are a fraction the size of what the US can muster in the same timeframe, cannot reliably call on the same logistics, lack recent corporate experience of actual brigade- and division-scale combined arms warfare against a near-peer opponent willing to match wits and forces directly and were not anticipating local opposition to be quite as fierce.

The airborne coup-de-mains attempted against Kiev and Kharkov could have gone completely differently, and the fait accompli Russia wanted to present to everybody would be all but secure by now.

Despite the “Ghost of Kiev” being exposed by fact-checkers as a video game fake, the Ukrainian government has decided to claim the non-existent hero.

However, one video which got nearly 5million views and spawned the rumours has been thoroughly debunked as a clip from the 2008 videogame Digital Combat Simulator, with a Reuters Fact Check concluding: ‘A vertical video shared online does not show a Ukrainian fighter jet shooting down a Russian plane, but comes from the videogame DCS.’

Despite this, Kyiv is now openly promoting claims that the unnamed pilot exists, in an apparent bid to rally the besieged nation behind an urban hero and fuel support for Ukraine’s war effort.

Posting a 38 second video on Sunday, the government’s official Twitter account said: ‘People call him the Ghost of Kyiv. And rightly so – this UAF ace dominates the skies over our capital and country, and has already become a nightmare for invading Russian aircrafts.’

The Ukrainians are also bullshit artists and shouldn’t be believed about anything.

I’m not convinced. Putin is not nearly as dependent on the patronage of the Russian money elite as many Western commentators seem to think.

And the other thing is that the West has lots of assets in Russia, as well. Our leaders are probably more beholden to our billionaires and corporate giants than Putin is to Russia’s.

We really have thrown everything we’ve got at Russia that isn’t a literal weapon. There’s nothing left. Russia has plenty it could still do to us if it chose to.

Ukraine agrees to hold talks with Russia in Belarus – Moscow

Ukraine agrees to hold talks with Russia in Belarus – Moscow
Russia said on Sunday that, after some back-and-forth, Ukraine agreed to dispatch a team to Belarus for talks to end the Russian military campaign in the country.

Kiev “confirmed” the planned talks in Gomel Region, which is close to the borders of both Russia and Ukraine, Russian chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky told reporters.

Medinsky, an aide to President Vladimir Putin and former culture minister, added that the parties are now deciding on the logistics and the exact location of the summit, with “maximum security” for the Ukrainians.

“We guarantee that the travel route will be 100% safe. We will be waiting for the Ukrainian delegation,” Russian chief negotiator said.

The Russian team arrived in Gomel on Sunday, where it said talks were planned with the Ukrainians. Kiev later said it wanted to negotiate on “neutral ground,” arguing that Russian troops were using Belarusian territory to stage attacks on Ukraine. Minsk, however, denied that its forces were participating in the Russian operation.

Moscow attacked its neighbor this week, arguing that it was defending the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, which broke off from the eastern part of Ukraine shortly after the 2014 coup in Kiev. Ukraine said the move was an act of unprovoked aggression.

How do we know that the Russians are going soft in Ukraine rather than being pinned down by plucky little Ukrainian resistance fighters? Look at what Russia isn’t doing. It isn’t cutting communications. It isn’t shutting down the internet or the phone networks. It isn’t disrupting commerce. It isn’t cutting the power supply, the gas supply, the water supply.

Ya know the battle space in which Russia blows everyone else out of the water, quite literally? Artillery. If Russia intended to crush Ukraine as dumbarse Western commentators (ie. virtually all of them, even those that really ought to know better) assume they want to, Russian artillery would have turned a bunch of Ukrainian cities into giant piles of concrete powder by now. And those much-ballyhooed alleged Ukrainian resistance fighters with their AKs wouldn’t be able to do a damn thing about it.

In related feedback, bought a carton from local licensed roadhouse- they have been in a grey area re shutting mudbloods out of bottle-o’s, because they do takeaway food and do not have discrete entry or till for booze. Girl behind the counter sez they have been run off their feet, to the point of buying emergency pallets from BWS/Dan Murphy distribution chain. Reckons that’s why the bottle-o ban was revoked- Colesworth was feeling the pain of collapsing sales from their bottleshops which were in the same shopping centres as supermarkets- usually sharing loading bays and fridges- but couldn’t sell vino to unjabbed shoppers, who would usually scoot their trolleys straight next door and put drinkies on top of their groceries on the way to the free covered all-day parking.
She’d reckon the unjabbed are one in eight adults-she’s not shy of asking.

Angouleme museum is housed in the former bishop’s palace behind the cathedral, also dates back to the 12th century though other than in the vaulted ground floor you can’t tell on the inside.
The Charente region has a wealth of prehistoric fossils and artefacts, molluscs, dinosaurs, aurochs, antelopes, bison, elephant bits and many other animals you tend to associate with Africa, mostly recovered from caves where it seems hyenas and humans once took turns to inhabit. Doesn’t look like much influence by Rome, or it was Asterix country, or I missed that bit of the museum.
A lot of people in the last century and a half have obviously had a lot of fun digging up stuff.
The Beaux Arts section was mostly about René Goscinny with lots of original works from Asterix, lucky Luke, Nicolas eyc.
He did the artwork for some children’s books while living in New York at the end of the war, he also hung around with the guy that started MAD.
I think the information card said he moved there from Argentina with his mother after his father died, before heading for France.
Angouleme is unesco world heritage comic capital, or something.

Von der Leyen: RT & Sputnik ‘Will No Longer Be Able to Spread Their Lies to Sow Division in EU’
1 hour ago (Updated: 24 minutes ago)

Von der Leyen also said that the European Union is going to finance the purchase and delivery of weapons and other equipment to Ukraine.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has slammed Russian media outlets RT and Sputnik and suggested banning them in the European Union.

On Sunday, she declared that the EU will close its airspace to Russian aircraft and is seeking to ban Russian state-owned media in the bloc.

“In another unprecedented step, we will ban in the EU the Kremlin’s media machine. The state-owned Russia Today and Sputnik, as well as their subsidiaries, will no longer be able to spread their lies to justify Putin’s war and to sow division in our union,” she said.

In response, Sputnik suggested that the EU might as well ban the Internet.

“We advise the European Union to not stop at half measures and just ban the Internet outright,” the news agency retorted.

Von der Leyen also said the EU is going to finance the purchase and delivery of weapons and other equipment to Ukraine and is hitting Russia’s ally Belarus with sanctions over the ongoing fighting in Ukraine.

“This is a watershed moment for our Union,” she said in a statement.

Moscow launched a “military operation” in Ukraine after the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics’ authorities asked for assistance to defend themselves against attacks by Ukrainian troops.

Moscow’s actions have been condemned by the United States, Japan, and several European countries, which have imposed economic sanctions against Russia as a result.

What Did Putin Mean by ‘Denazification’ of Ukraine and Why is It so Important?

For years, Russia has been calling on Western nations to investigate cases of human rights abuse, illegal killings, and war crimes committed by the Ukrainian authorities that came to power after the 2014 coup. Moscow pointed out that many of them were committed by neo-Nazis against Russians or Russian-speaking people.

When Russian President Vladimir Putin was announcing the start of a special operation to protect the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) on 24 February, he described the goals as “demilitarising and denazifying” Ukraine. His spokesman later elaborated that “denazifying” means that Russia is planning to free Ukraine from neo-Nazis, their supporters, and their ideology.

Moscow has repeatedly warned foreign nations about neo-Nazis taking control of Ukraine following the West-backed coup in 2014. However, Western nations chose to ignore the human rights violations committed by the Kiev regime.

What were these crimes?

Putin Assures Israel’s Bennett Russia Ready to Talk to Ukraine, Says Kiev Showing ‘Inconsistency’

Russia summoned Israel’s ambassador to Moscow on Friday to ask why Tel Aviv “supports neo-Nazis” in Kiev after Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid blasted the Russian military operation in Ukraine as a ‘grave violation of the international order’.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has assured Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett that Moscow remains open to talks with Kiev, but informed him that Ukraine’s leaders have shown “inconsistency” on the matter.

“It was noted that the Russian delegation is situated in the Belarusian city of Gomel and is ready for negotiations with representatives from Kiev, who, showing inconsistency, have not yet taken advantage of this opportunity,” the Kremlin said in a statement summarising a phone call between Putin and Bennett that took place Sunday.

“In turn, Naftali Bennett offered Israel’s services as an intermediary in order to suspend hostilities,” the Kremlin said.

Duncanm, your bee is likely a mud wasp. Native and don’t cause problems except for the rotten nests they build. You can leave the nest and let it hatch or gouge it out. If you get it out you’ll see a few small chambers, each containing a spider and a wasp larvae. The spiders are alive but the mother wasp injects them with something that makes them sort of hibernate. Then the baby wasps eat them alive as they grow, eventually the (now) full grown wasps tunnel their way out of the mud. You’ll know when this happens as the nest will start buzzing, it’s very annoying.

Peace Talks Possible Between Russia and Ukraine, as Magnificently Defiant Zelenskyy Stands atop The Alamo of Kyiv Taking Selfies
February 27, 2022 | Sundance | 74 Comments

The propaganda pouring out of Ukraine from the U.S. State Department and the taxpayer funded Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) is, in a modern scale, historic.

In their collective effort to make #Ukraine the modern image of The Alamo (where the last stand to defend all mankind is taking place), the corporate media, state dept and NGO’s are utilizing their Hollywood directed #BringBackOurGirls and #KonySurrender techniques in the extreme.

Pay no attention to the absence of any war fighting actually taking place; meaning the lack of actual fighting shooting and stuff in a modern era where everyone has cell phone cameras; and instead focus your attention to the ‘story telling.’

After all, the White House was very clear that the winner of this contest to defend all humanity from the Russian villain Vladimir Putin, would depend on who could tell a “better story.”

Thus, you do not need to see shooting or actual war type stuff. Instead, the contest to save the planet is boiled down to who can take a better selfie.

As Deputy National Security Advisor Daleep Singh stated last week, the U.S. government has rallied the collective west to defeat Russia using the cultural weapon of social likeability. Vladimir Putin is getting pummeled.

It’s all a grand pantomime folks. All of it. Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the newest Michael Avenatti.

Trade Group: No, Stoli, Smirnoff Are Not Russian Vodka Imports (27 Feb)

While social media has been abuzz of Americans boycotting Russian vodka and pouring out their Stoli and Smirnoff bottles amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a trade group spokesman noted Sunday these brands are not imported from Russia.

Stolichnaya, aka Stoli, is distilled in Latvia, while Smirnoff is fully owned by Diageo, with no ties to Russia, and the Smirnoff consumed in the U.S. is made in Plainfield, Illinois, according to the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States.

Perhaps I’m overestimating this, but yesterday I went shopping. Not for meat, because I won a gigantic meat tray at a pub on Friday*.

I needed cheese, and specifically cheese slices. Went to the dairy bit, and found Cheer cheese absolutely everywhere. Or so it seemed, because every other brand was gone, or almost so. It’s not a supply issue, because the Colesworth empire has been fully stocked for a couple of weeks now.

Every other type of cheese was conspicuous by its absence. A (small) win for the good guys. The NT News:

AN Alice Springs man who rendered first aid to his neighbour who had been stabbed has beaten several gun charges he faced in the aftermath.

Last April, police charged 28-year-old Ron Sterry with five weapons offences after officers arrived at the scene of the stabbing and found he was in possession of a number of guns.

This bloke was at home, minding his own business when his next door neighbour was stabbed on his front lawn by some random fuckwit. The crook, allegedly, was still in the area loudly indicating an intent to return and finish the job.

Earlier this month a judge found Mr Sterry’s actions were not disproportionate or unreasonable, with the outcome being celebrated by shooters as a victory against “over the top” gun laws in the Territory.

In the dead of night on April 6, Mr Sterry had heard a commotion and grabbed his loaded 1917 Eddystone rifle and a bayonet for protection and went to help his wounded neighbour while another called emergency services. The weapons were not used that night.

Over the course of 10 months, the five charges laid against Mr Sterry were whittled down to just one, with the other four being dismissed.

On February 11, Mr Sterry was sentenced for carrying the bayonet in public.

This will be due to the bayonet’s technical status as a prohibited weapon or somesuch. He probably didn’t have an antique weapon permit, or whatever it is.

He was put on a six-month good behaviour bond and charged a levy of $150 [for having the bayonet out in public]. No conviction was recorded and the judge issued an order to guarantee Mr Sterry could get his guns back, despite an automatic ban in place under the NT’s gun laws.

There’s a picture in the NT News of Mr Sterry, still in the clothes he wore to court (suit – including waistcoast – and tie, but without the jacket), holding his 1917 rifle, and beaming for the camera.

Beautiful. Well done sir, both at the time and for sticking it out.

University of Queensland infectious diseases specialist Paul Griffin says vaccination protects against long COVID.
Dr Griffin said for a long time the “jury was out” but the evidence was building that vaccines do protect people from the long-term effects of the virus as well.

“Increasingly it does appear that vaccines do reduce your chance of getting all forms of this infection, including the long-term manifestations that we’ve come to know as long COVID,” he said.

Conversely, the NT News is also running this attempt at influencing:

A UKRAINIAN woman living in Darwin has called for Territorian support and is sharing her story to shine a light on the gravity of what is occurring on the other side of the globe.

Since Russia began to invade her homeland Ukraine, Yuliia Shchedrovska has felt hopelessness and despair as she watches the atrocities unfold from abroad.

The atrocities. Uh huh. She has concerns about Mum:

“What I’m really worried about is that she just cannot get out, there’s nobody that could come and get her and she has not got a driver’s license,” Ms Shchedrovska said.

“Everything is shut and there are sirens going off all of the time.”

That she knows this is happening, and that Mum hasn’t been turned into paste underneath a building reassembled by 155mm high explosive sort of goes against the whole ‘atrocity’ thing. Have a go at this from the piece’s ‘author’, somebody called Floss Adams:

With sheer will and grit, the proud Ukrainian is fighting her fears and banding together with 18 other Ukrainians living in Darwin, in bid to start a movement of support from Territorians.

Yep. Got it. Sheer will. 18.

And then, finally, in a move obviously lost on Adams and her subbies:

“I’m asking everyone who can help, please, donate to the official portal that was created by the National Bank of Ukraine in support of the Ukrainian Army.”

Aaaaand there we go.

Or, perhaps more accurately, the WEF is merely a cool kids’ club for the very, very rich and the very well connected, rather than the Nuffy-bait murdergenociders bodily fluid-polluters and folks-who-would-be-King we’ve been shoutily ‘led’ to believe by certain folks for the last 2 years.

And membership means nothing in the face of one’s own personal political agendas…

The stupid…it burns.

I’d say this type of goose is the type so caught up on blogs like this he has neither the time nor the inclination to read the WEF’s own websites and it’s stated aims, also stated by it’s head…on video…many times…, those aims purely socialist control of the globe.
His disciples, many like the PM of Norway, a twenty something little chicky babe still out clubbing…mysteriously get placed in positions of power and influence all over the globe, and even use the same “build back better” language…….
Trudeau, Ahern, Johnson, Greg Hunt, Macron, were nobodies when they graduated.
They only became well connected because of the WEF….
This level of ignorance after the last two years must be described as denialism, not many people are that thick.
Even choo choo man.

Here on this blog, we also have someone else, so incredibly timid and without the slightest thought toward civic responsibility, as to take a jab from criminals, a jab not cleared or tested, while reports flooded in of it killing and injuring thousands, to fight of a virus 99.8 percent of people survive without needing.
True insanity.
He then get his good nazi pass, (until the booster is required and then the next), to stroll down and grab a double latte with all the other good Nazis. He has been a nightly abusive smart arse of little substance for the last 10 to 15 years I’ve known of, including now calling me insane and declares he fears I have terrorist tendancies.
He buys left wing “punch a Nazi” fucktards lunch and being a little fellow, feels big here.
My little wog mate is full of shit.
Now, I haven’t changed , ….and haven’t needed to,… my stance on this whole Kungflu coup, because I did some research at the start. It’s not rocket science, but you have to WANT to know.
The biggest insanity, if the truth be known, and the greatest danger to us all, much more dangerous than one little bread van in the imaginations of a silly old urban wog, is the self delusion and denialism so rampant these days, in so many.
I expect hatred to be directed at those still dealing with reality, from people who now have to contemplate what they have done, and chosen to put it all in the forgettory…..
I expect small men with big mouths to call those dealing with reality “terrorists” and “insane”, but we who have not changed, and not submitted, are also able to see the anger they have for themselves as they spew their vile, and we feel nothing but pity.
Yet the truth must be spoken loudly, proudly and often, so if they don’t like hearing it, fuck off and go and watch Reality TV.

Regardless of one’s feelings about Putin and what he’s doing, given what’s ensued in Ukraine since 2014 it can be argued that this military activity was inevitable. There was one US president who might have stepped up to help Ukraine, Donald J Trump but he’s no longer president, in no small part due to the Machiavellian machinations of Ukrainian ministers and operatives who assisted Clinton and the Demonrats with their Wussia hoax against Trump.

Elders the first to speak to Yoorrook commission
Miki Perkins
By Miki Perkins
February 28, 2022 — 12.15am

Aboriginal elders will be the first people to present their stories and evidence to the state’s truth-telling commission on the many impacts of colonialism, racism and injustice on Indigenous Victorians.

The Yoorrook Justice Commission, formerly named Yoo-rrook, will announce on Monday that elders will be the first to speak to commissioners at “yarning circles” on Country across Victoria over the next three months, as part of a dialogue that will culminate in the commission’s interim report, due to be released in June.

Commissioners will visit significant historical and cultural sites with elders to discuss which matters should be the priority for the inquiry, and have one-on-one meetings with elders.

The five-person commission was due to commence public hearings in July last year but postponed them several times. Commissioners blamed COVID-19 restrictions for delays to the listening tour of regional areas to accept submissions from Aboriginal elders and organisations

In January, the chief executive officer of the truth-telling commission, Josh Smith, and his office director, Alexandra Krummel, resigned, allegedly amid infighting between administrators and commissioners.

The commission now has an interim CEO, Elly Patira, who will guide the process for the next three months.

Professor Eleanor Bourke, the chair of the Yoorrook Justice Commission, said the voices of elders would be at the centre of the truth-telling commission and will ensure it is guided by, and grounded in, their cultural authority.

“Elders voices are paramount,” Professor Bourke said. “Their voices will underpin truth and justice for First Peoples. By prioritising elders first, Yoorrook will ensure their stories and truths are captured and included as evidence in its final recommendations.”

Elders will be given the option of having their stories included in the official public record of the impact of colonisation in Victoria.

The Yoorrook commission has released a tight timetable of meetings ahead of the release of its interim report in June.

Commencing in March, there will be three phases of community engagement, Yoorrook’s formal launch on March 24, and meetings and formal hearings with elders from the end of April.

The first dedicated truth-telling and justice commission of its kind in Australia, it will examine systemic injustice experienced by Aboriginal communities in Victoria since European colonisation and is considered integral to the state’s treaty process. The $58 million commission was set up in partnership between the First People’s Assembly and the Andrews government.

Learn some Woiwurrung words for everyday use

Wurundjeri woman Mandy Nicholson explains the meaning of some of the most common Woiwurrung words.

Contributions from traditional owners and First Nations people will be invited in the second half of 2022, and from the broader community after that. Further details of the support available to people participating in process, will be announced after the official launch in late March.

Seriously?

While I am delving into diagnosis of the recently turned psychotics, we again can use Notafan as a classic example.
Her approach differs somewhat to me little wog mate’s approach but it’s born from the same cause.
Self loathing.
The almost minute by minute reporting in on her holiday and flaunting it is an overcompensation as she desperately tries , (and fails miserably), to pretend she is quite happy with her reactions to all of this.
You see, she knows right from wrong, but being stubborn and unable to admit she lost the plot to fear propaganda and straight out lies, has decided, in much the same way as a fat person pretends they are happy with their weight, to just go with it, indeed to celebrate it.

Like a suicidal gay overcompensating by dancing, smiling and waving on a float in a Sydney parade.
It’s called living a lie.
A lot of that going on.
Even poor Knuckle dragger’s last response to me was incoherent emotion nonsense.

They are all, like JC, responding in ways people avoiding the truth respond.

That’s why, before I even came back here, upon hearing of the Russian invasion, I knew it would be received with almost joy by many here, and will be all that is talked about now.
Those you call insane, know why.
But worse than that, because we know why, we know these types will focus on the Ukraine war as a way to forget the last two years here, and what has happened……and what they did, …but the danger is….it plays straight into the hands of those still doing it to us.
We need to be focussing on what our own tyrants are doing while you watch the Ukraine to sooth your self loathing and try to forget your own situations.

Checking some of the social media this morning the couple of things that stand out are apparently the Ukrainians are sharing a video of a captured Russian major being tortured as a moral booster. Oh joy. Bet that doesn’t get covered in the mainstream if it’s true.
Mariupol surrounded and the Azov battalion is digging in, using civilians as shields. There’s also a video allegedly showing them shooting civilians trying to flee the city.

Lots of talk and pictures/videos of Russian convoy breakdowns or ambushes. Russia claiming there were requests for negotiations and then the Ukrainian delegation didn’t show.

So, really no concrete information on anything. Guess we’ll be waiting for the clarity of hindsight. Assuming no glow in the dark scenario.

This is the neo-Nazi militia that the Western press was fawning over as they trained babushkas to fire weapons a week or so ago. If they regard civilians as combatants then that report is not beyond the realm of credibility.

Soon we’ll likely be supplying them with arms.

The IGA supermarket model is fundamentally different from the Colesworths model. Our local IGA was owned for years by two old Italian guys who sold it when they retired. They sold it to the guy who owned the one in hipster central, Leederville which operated 24/7 sort of as a foodie 7-11. Now it is practically unrecognisable.

The worst thing about Colesworths is the lack of variety in each product line. If you’re lucky they might carry the No 1 and 2 seller, if manufacturers are prepared to bend over and get screwed by Colesworths trading terms.

IGA I used to frequent was a great mini market in size, run by young Italian guys. Stacked floor to ceiling with more variety than a small colesworth. Local kids had a job there to suit uni classes. The kids restocked the shelves all day and night trying to keep up with trade. I’m glad ALDI came along to stuff up colesworth ripping us off for years buniness plan. Neighbours had coles shares for which they got a 5% I think discount. Then when coles discontinued the discount they went to ALDI. Coles missed out all round.

“Where does a wise man hide a leaf? In the forest. But what does he do if there is no forest? He grows a forest to hide it in.”

? G K Chesterton, The Innocence of Father Brown

I have a conspiracy theory for you to think about. Imagine you, the great and good in what passes, these days, for Western Civilisation had made a total pigs breakfast of a response to a manufactured virus, quickly decaying in virulence and, at its earliest and worst, only serious for those already in God’s waiting room.

As a consequence, Big Pharma has been hoovering up public money – and the giant credit card bill yet to be paid – citizens have been terrified, locked down, fed dangerous and (at best useless) drugs, set one against the other; beyond COVID, health services have effectively been reduced to a trickle and preventative care has almost completely collapsed – a giant health care disaster set to unfold – and the economy has not only been shot to bits, it has been twisted so that giant international corporations (Amazon, EBay etc etc etc) have barely been affected while SMEs have gone t9 the wall like jet-propelled lemmings…

Well, you get the picture.

Eventually, the day of reckoning looms. Eventually the great and the good realise that they will not be able to hide the “rubble” for much longer.

Where do you hide social and economic destruction on such a scale?

A: inside a new World War …

You really can never be cynical enough.

Our Nazis are better than their Nazis! We must overcome the Nazi gap before it’s too late!

Daniel Greenfield has a couple of good blog posts today.

Ukraine, Russia, and the Problem of Propaganda (27 Feb)

Suffice it to say that pretty much everything you hear from one side or the other is partly wrong, but has some truth to it. For example, there are indeed Nazis on both sides, whether it’s Ukraine’s Azov battalion or elements of Russia’s Wagner group. Likewise, Ukraine is incredibly corrupt, but Russia is even more incredibly corrupt. Some of our own special interests have ties to Ukrainian business interests, others have ties to Russian business interests. There’s a lot of money to be made in both places. Just ask the Clintons.

Can Putin Win? (27 Feb)

Whatever the outcome of the war, the one thing Putin has done is burn up the proceeds of the extensive influence campaign that Russia has waged for over a decade. After spending a fortune, building media outlets like RT and Sputnik and enlisting propagandists and influencers, many on the left who in the wake of the Iraq War somehow became convinced that Russia was actually opposed to imperialism and international wars, he cashed it all in in order to invade Ukraine. It doesn’t look like it was a very good investment.

Both are entertaining and intelligent observations. It fits with “old man in a hurry syndrome” ( (c) Winston).

No. Donbas is one thing, but Kiev is quite another.

But the Americans and NATO have badly mismanaged relations with Russia since 1991. That’s not to justify Putin’s actions, but to put them in context, as you suggest.

Roger, I reckon you’re on the money there. It’s like most of the world still sees Russia as the Soviet Union 30 years after it’s dead and buried. Modern Russia is not.
Not saying it’s a great place to live, or not corrupt etc. however I think they as a country have been trying to be taken seriously as having a place at the table and been constantly rebuffed. It’s only reinforced the cultural paranoia and at this point any chance of building a workable relationship with the west is gone.

I suspect Trump wanted an attempt at building a good relationship, but the politics of it was rendered impossible and has pushed Russia into building one with China instead. There’s so many could have beens, but a compete lack of statesmen to have seen them succeed.
