  1. The only one I can suggest is Bundaberg.

And that would require a large chunk of the proposed $10bn going into local infrastructure.

Which would be better spent on the main project.

  2. Why is that? You wouldn’t want it at Bundaberg because of proximity to da Reef (holy to Gaia).

Yes, that would most likely be a problem. I’ll wait for Dio’s response though.

  4. Now I wouldn’t because the leadership at the highest levels does not have you back.

I’m not sure the leadership at the highest levels ever had their backs, Bear. Blokes like Birdwood at Gallipoli, Monash and Pompey Elliott on the Western Front, Vasey at Crete and Milne Bay and Arthur Key at Kokoda were not only once in a generation leaders, they were wartime leaders and promoted according to the situation at hand, rather than the shinybums.

    I’m looking at you, Lavarack.

The highest ranks in any organisation – not just the Army – will throw an expendable sacrifical lamb or two into the incinerator if it suits their agenda to do so, or more importantly if they get to say afterwards ‘Look at me, I solved the problem’.

I watched Angus Whatsisname and some other bedazzled Navy type before some Senate enquiry or other after Captain Blood ‘N’ Guts* Sneath refused to let her pussers march in the dark on Anzac Day morning a few years ago.

They actually complimented Sneath in front of the enquiry for bringing to light an ‘important safety issue’. Now – while this has nothing to do specifically with having the troops’ backs, it highlights their mindset. That is, the officers will say anything and do anything to make themselves look good.

*I forget who christened Sneath as Blood ‘N’ Guts, but it was on the ExCat and I loved it. Hat tip, you magnificent bastard.

Any large group of people, statistically, is strewn with dickheads.

But there are also achievers in there – and quite a few, otherwise the entire thing would burn to the ground.

I have no doubt the organisation is redolent with poofery compared to the one I was in (gawd) 30 years ago. All the young bloke needs to do is identify who is there to get the job done, who is there to be a posing fuckstick, and tag along with the former group. Three golden rules:

    1. Your mates are more important than you;
    2. The team is more important than you; and
2a. Don’t shoot holes in someone else’s tent.

  8. Sunday Talks, Petro Poroshenko Outlines the Importance of American Payments to Ukraine Politicians
    March 6, 2022 | Sundance | 132 Comments

It is very challenging to filter through the propaganda from western media surrounding Ukraine – this doesn’t help. Fox News host Maria Bartiromo hosts former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, the former installed Ukrainian division operator of the U.S. State Dept NATO laundry operation.

As President, it was Poroschenko’s corrupt government who were supported by Senator John McCain, Senator Lindsey Graham, Senator Amy Klobuchar, former U.S. Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch and the DC politicians who supported Joe and Hunter Biden using Ukraine for financial profit.

Under Poroschenko, Ukraine maintained its status as the number one donor to the Clinton foundation. It was this corrupt influence system that led to frustrated citizens selecting current President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with his promise of reforms (never happened).

Senators and DC officials from both parties participated in the Ukraine influence process. Part of those influence priorities was/is exploiting the financial opportunities within Ukraine while simultaneously protecting the background activity of Joe Biden and his family. This is where Senator John McCain and Senator Lindsey Graham were working with Marie Yovanovitch

You might also remember Marie Yovanovitch, George Kent and U.S. chargé d’affaires to Ukraine, Bill Taylor, testifying against President Trump in the ridiculous impeachment effort surrounding Ukraine.

During three separate interviews today, U.S Secretary of State Anthony Blinken told media that Poland was sending fighter planes to Ukraine, and the U.S. was in negotiations with Poland to replace them. The same assertion was made by U.S. Senator Marco Rubio.

However, the official Twitter account of the chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland calls those reports “fake news”:
    [at link below]
    (Source)

It’s bad enough when the media is spreading fake news, now we have the U.S. Secretary of State doing it.

That said, the original statements by Secretary Blinken didn’t pass the smell test. Now it looks like Tony Blinken was trying to provoke Poland to be the spark that ignited the NATO war against Russia. Stunning. This is a pretty big deal, but watch the media drop the issue as if it never happened.

He took Lae with the 7th Div, just before the 9th arrived.

I was just now checking the text as I thought it was Vasey, but turned out to be his subordinate, Brig Ken Eather:

A vivid description of the final spurt for Lae on 16th September was written at the time by the 2/25th’s leading company commander (Captain Butler):

Up at daylight and off again. “C” Company leading the Brigade this time. Men are a bit nervous again and went pretty steadily. Sick Japs along track kept holding things up and we expected to run into something at any moment. Then along the track and into the middle of us came a jeep crowded with Brigade HQ. Passed me and up to the leading platoon. The old Brig jumped out and started urging the troops to hurry along. The troops weren’t very impressed as they thought the Jap was in front. Finally the Brigadier, armed with a pistol, acted as leading scout, and the troops followed in column of route behind . . . . A brigadier is not an ideal section leader. …

Certainly not! At least one senior Russian general has been potted in the last week doing exactly that.

  28. Back in school we studied the lead up to WW2. I have been struck by the parallels between the events back then and the evolving situation in Ukraine-

-Treaty of Versailles breaking up Germany and the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1919 vs the breakup of the USSR in 1989

-Ethnic Germans isolated in Czechoslovakia following Versailles vs ethnic Russians isolated in the Donbas following the USSR collapse

-The 1939 German-Russian non aggression pact vs the 2001 Russian-Chinese Friendship Treaty, extended in 2021. Both designed to reduce threats from the east.

-Germany’s Anschluss with Austria in 1938 vs the Russian incorporation of the Crimea in 2014

-German annexation of the Sudetenland and then the rest of Czechoslovakia in 1938 vs the invasion of the Ukraine 2022

Perhaps the Western leaders think that the situations are sufficiently similar that a robust response (short of war) is needed to deter further Russian adventurism in order to avoid a repeat of the events that followed the Munich Agreement.

If history repeats then the next step would be for China and Russia to divide up one or more of the Stans (probably not Afghanistan unless the Chinese are feeling very lucky) between themselves.

no they know exactly what covid does because they created it. it’s particularly nasty virus. The chinese are all in on vengeance for the 100 years of humiliation that drives their paranoid policies. the virus wasn’t particularly designed to kill, but to maim. Unconditional Warfare even talks about the types of virus china is working on, for instance a virus that causes a loss of balance. So the chinks can laugh at westerners falling over and not able to stand up without help. this is the chinese mentality.

covid is a persistent toxin in the majority of people that are infected with it. It damages the immune system, it damages vascular and neurological systems. it damages fertility in both males and females. most of the damage flies under the radar and you only start noticing once its starts becoming difficult to reverse.

duh. why did they chose this? because it’s the toxic part of the virus and the theory is that giving people a modified spike protein would protect them from this bioweapon and future bioweapons based on S1. thats the theory, unfortunately they didn’t test the modified spike protein’s ability to stay modified and not toxic, nor the long term efficacy of the vaccine.

  40. Hundreds Held After New Zealand-Led Investigation Into Images of Child Abuse
An international collaboration resulted in the rescue of dozens of children and exposed a secret global network used to share material on sexual abuse.

Interpol’s headquarters in Lyon, France. The investigation began in New Zealand but brought together security agencies in various countries, including Interpol.
    By Natasha Frost
    March 3, 2022
A two-year investigation led by the authorities in New Zealand has resulted in the arrests of hundreds of people around the globe on charges of possessing and sharing child sexual abuse material, officials said on Wednesday. Dozens of children were moved out of harm’s way as a result, the authorities said.

The investigation, the largest of its kind led out of New Zealand, found a secret global networks that shared child sexual abuse images on a wide scale. In some cases, the pandemic provided cover for the illegal activity, as lockdowns kept children isolated at home and predators took to the web in search of victims, a British official said.

The investigation, called Operation H, involved 12 countries and began in 2019, after an unnamed online service provider reported that its platform was being used to share horrific images of child sexual abuse. About 90,000 accounts were linked to the activity.

That led to the discovery of 32 gigabytes of files, some of which included “sadistic acts of sexual abuse of infants and children,” according to a statement from the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation, known as Europol.

Since then, at least 836 cases have been opened internationally, with more than 100 suspects identified across the European Union alone. Those arrested included 47 people in Canada, 43 in New Zealand and hundreds in Britain. In Australia, the police charged 121 men with 1,248 total offenses.

“This operation will have an impact on the global networks that deal in the most horrific and damaging material, and we are extraordinarily proud of the effect it will have on children’s lives around the world,” said Tim Houston, who led the operation at the Department of Internal Affairs in New Zealand.

The distribution of these images could create significant additional harm, Mr. Houston added. “Many people who view material of this kind will go on to physically offend against children,” he said. “This is not a victimless crime; every time this material is viewed, that child is revictimized.”

Last year was the worst on record for the distribution of child sexual abuse images online, according to the Internet Watch Foundation, a charity based in England. In 2021, the foundation identified more than 250,000 instances of online images that featured children being sexually abused, an increase of almost 100,000, or nearly 70 percent, compared with images discovered in 2020.

The investigation began in New Zealand, but it brought together security agencies in Australia, Austria, Britain, Canada, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Slovenia, Spain and the United States. Interpol also joined the case.

The inquiry resulted in the rescue of 146 children around the world, including six in New Zealand and 79 in Britain. In Australia, 51 children across six states were moved to safety, including 23 in Queensland and 10 in South Australia.

In one case each in Austria and Hungary, the suspects were accused of abusing their own children, who were 6 and 8 years old. And in Spain, a suspect both possessed and disseminated material about child sexual exploitation while making covert sexual images of adults without their consent, officials said.

In some cases, those arrested on charges of possessing the material were later charged with more serious offenses. One unidentified offender in the South Island of New Zealand later admitted to “consuming child exploitation material for over 20 years as well as other forms of harmful material such as bestiality and torture bondage,” according to the New Zealand authorities.

The offender had traveled to Asia and paid families there to create images of their children being sexually abused for financial gain, the investigation found.

“Although the offender denied engaging in sexual exploitation while abroad, it is likely from the information obtained that they were a sex tourist,” a spokesman at the Department of Internal Affairs in New Zealand said.

In Britain, officers from the National Crime Agency arrested 450 people on charges of using the platform, and those detentions often brought additional charges.

“Much of this activity took place during the Covid-19 lockdowns, when the majority of young people were at home and offenders had more time to spend online targeting their victims,” said Sarah Blight, a spokeswoman for the agency.

The agency found a pattern of offenders working in “positions of trust,” including at kindergartens and primary schools, in health care professions, as religious clergy or within law enforcement. One suspect, who worked as a night support worker in a children’s home, had hundreds of indecent images of children on his phone, officials said.

Visa and Mastercard just stopped service in Russia so Vlad impaled himself on the Chinese systems. This means the Chinese will be able figure what Russians buy the most and tailer their own sanctions if the Russians have problems with them.

Russia will run to the west in few years. They’ll run not walk.

Putin will die or be replaced before long, but I’m not convinced there will be such thing as “Russia” once he’s out of the picture. They can’t hold it together.

  52. And some still insist on believing this one doesn’t take & tweak as her own, from everywhere, no matter how often her very own natural voice screeches the absurdity of entertaining such a thought –

“Not so not long ago, when Dot wrote off East Europeans as paedophiles and Cassie wrote off Ukrainians as Anti-Semites, racially vilifying whole Nations just so they could ‘excuse themselves’ racially vilifying someone they couldn’t beat with facts.”

LOL….go and take your pills slag heap.

A gutter mouth that arrogantly calls herself a “Princess”, choking on the delusion that they are too far above simply saying, ‘Sorry, I was wrong.’.

When you can’t, or worse, don’t want to, see through characters like that, you’re a sitting duck for top tier propagandists.

    No one will notice.

Well, no one will tell you they noticed.

  54. Ukraine’s Top Negotiator Says Kiev Open To ‘Non-NATO Models’

“We are ready to discuss some non-NATO models. For example, there could be direct guarantees by different countries like the US, China, UK, maybe Germany & France.”

First, second, third sign that there is no good will with the Ukrainian negotiators; they keep turning up to these serious, solemn meetings dressed as the thugs they are.

I haven’t see your previous prognostications, so I don’t know how accurate you are, but let me reassure you Russia has been there for a while and will be there long after you and me.
Putin may go or not, I predict not, but he is not Russia.

Your post reminds me of the quote ‘the report of my passing was premature’

LOL, You’re the one, slag heap, who’s labelled me a “princess”. You can’t even remember what you post you piece of rotting garbage. Oh and who’s the gutter mouth? Why it’s our very own “slag heap”….aka “ssr”…..a person who posts links links to Holocaust deniers, racists and anti-Semites and then refuses to take any responsibility when you’re called out for your posts. Anyone with an ounce of decency would apologise but not you, our very own slag heap called “ssr”, instead you just deflect any responsibility because you think you’re too far above simply saying “sorry, I was wrong to link to a Holocaust denier”.

BTW…slag heap…..the post you linked to a HOLOCAUST DENIER was deleted by the blog owner.

FUCK OFF you piece of garbage.

You know, ordinarily I’d say this is unknowable bullshit. After all, it’s The Star.

Vladimir Putin ‘dying in agony from terminal cancer’ and pics show his pain, say sources

For those who read such fiction, there is a Vince Flynn/Kyle Mills novel based on exactly that scenario. Title Red War IIRC. Brain cancer in the novel.
