Bem away for 24 hours and until 4pm and just had a chance to catch up.
It goes easier when you scroll Sanchez, Rex Anger (well named), JC (he’s simply gone insane), Lizzie (I thought she left) and very few others …

And you are perfectly free to do so.

There are far more satisfying concepts to be discussing while we’re on this planet, peoples.

Like why “Brunettes are the Best”, especially when they’re 17 YO “influencers” reading a script attempting to explain why the dumbocrats have sent the price of “gas” through the roof.

Yeah no. 🙁

The leftwits’ best chance at avoiding electoral annihilation in November is getting and properly keeping the young and very young onside.

Social media is quick, easy and the concept of the short, sharp punchy and colourful meme (being a USMC psych warfare concept from the 1960s) to get your point across plays well on TikTok.

The problem being is,as we know, that most young folks are led by the heart, not the head. And the attention spans are plummeting. So a well-crafted 20 second propaganda piece that says WussiaWussiaWussia in bright colours and a boppy soundtrack works better than 2 to 5 minutes of the same lady explaining on YouTube, the massive raft of economy-crashing policy changes Sniffy Joe’s handlers imposed from Day One of his Presidency.

(I like the latter- Conservative chicks look and sound far cluier than their lefty counterparts. But I am a little biased…)

Stabbing injuries soar as police vow to stamp out gang attacks
Erin Pearson
By Erin Pearson
March 18, 2022 — 7.47pm

The Alfred hospital’s data shows a 50 per cent rise in people being treated there for life-threatening stab wounds this summer.

A police officer says carrying knives is now an accepted method of protection for young people, with some feeling they have to “arm up” as a result of suburban gangs.

Hospital data shows serious stabbings are on the rise in Victoria as the state grapples with an emerging knife culture among teenagers and young adults.

The state’s major trauma hospital, The Alfred, says the number of patients it treated with life-threatening stab wounds rose 50 per cent this summer compared to the previous year. And one of its top surgeons fears the severity of injuries is getting worse.

One police officer says carrying knives has become an accepted method of protection among some young people. A growing number of teenagers are telling police they feel they need to “arm up” to protect themselves from knife-wielding suburban gangs.

The concerns have prompted youth workers to create an anti-knife education campaign led by stabbing victims, who will speak to youngsters about the dangers of carrying blades.

Knife attacks in Melbourne at the weekend left two young people dead and a string of others seriously injured.

Just months ago, youth advocates raised the alarm, saying they feared bloodshed on Melbourne streets and that children as young as 10 were carrying knives for protection.

On Thursday, senior police said they were doing all they could to dismantle gangs, revealing five were disbanded last year and more than 500 gang members were arrested as part of a widespread crackdown.

But a police officer, speaking anonymously because they are not authorised to speak to the press, said violent crime involving knives and young people had never been worse nor more brutal.

In the Australia I grew up in, a knife was seen as a cowards weapon, and if you pulled one, in a fight, you were likely to have it rammed up your clacker to teach you a few manners…

re Japanese intentions for Australia: It’s ‘alternative history’ fiction but John Hooker’s ‘Bush Soldiers’, which imagines a small cadre of Diggers hitting an occupied Broken Hill and making off into the scrub, is a decent read.

Read it about 30 years ago and the image, from the final chapters, of the dead dog on the chain remains.

Reporting back on my attempted comments in The Australian. As I told Gab, Winston, I kept it fairly mild re acceptance of transgender individuals because I didn’t want the Oz to use that to slam the comment. Might as well have gone for broke, because the following two comments were rejected out of hand, immediately. Some graduate of a school of journalism I once knew hard at work I expect.

A change in the current testosterone level requirement will not alter the fact that even with newer rules about transgender competitors women will still have to compete against a male’s broad frame, narrower pelvis, greater musculature and more capacious heart and lungs. These all develop in males during puberty and continue into early adulthood to grow and change.

Men who ‘feel’ they are women are not actually women. They should be treated with courtesy as per their desires where it is simply a matter of social acceptance of their personal choice. But we need to be able to say, without censorship, that trans women are not born women in a physiological sense and they should not compete in physical events with born women.

Bern, btw, I saw your comment re me ‘dishing it out but not taking it’. I think that’s the sort of comment (and me making an angry response about it) that Dover wants to avoid, which is what my comment about ‘rules’ agreed with; the Cat is about the only place where a comment such as the transgender one above can be published. If Dover were to impose a twitter-type censorship of that or other substantive matters then we would have cause to complain and leave – which is all that I said. I also said I did not think Dover would ever do such a thing.

The man in that swimming contest above, as well as looking overpoweringly male, also has male genitals. Female swimmers have complained that his penis is on display in the female change rooms.
But because of the blanket ban on discussing or complaining about transgenderism in sport, these women are being cowed into accepting that they will no longer win first place in most competitions.

The bigger issue with Jackson is she continually rules in favour of corporations.
The socially “progressive” rulings are cover

Bern, yet those socially “progressive” rulings potentially will do just as much, if not more, harm to individuals, their families and the communities in which they live.
(And not suggesting that you do not agree).

While a person in a position of authority should not make decisions only from the perspective of their individual beliefs – for in this “modern” diverse world they represent many “voices,” individual beliefs, whether they be from formal religious tenets or originate from a personal frame of reference, do in fact inform the person, and for good or ill.

The fact that this nominee has, according to Hawley, sought to weaken what are reasonable sentences/controls for sexual predators says something about her individual moral attitude about many things, not least of which seems to be her legal demeanour to ignore the huge risk that weak custodial sentences of perpetrators have on the safety of the weakest among us.

If her lack of any moral standard to protect children is being used simply as a cover for her support of corporations in legal matters it is doubly shocking. She would be close in behaviour to a latter day Caesar of the worst kind – I’m thinking of the Christians and the lions.

I don’t think the best way out of this ‘cultural’ mode is to ‘educate’ the relevant yoof.

I think making it hurt them in some way to be found carrying a knife would be far more effective.
Prison for those old and bad enough, night time curfew for others with threat of prison and what used to be called borstal (boys home) for those breaking curfew, parental payment of fines, removal of Centrelink benefits, a stint in the army reserve (sorry, army, to do that to you) etc. All would be significant ways of ‘changing the culture’.

From the Oz this morning by Shari Markson. It’s not just all rumour; here are Kitching’s own views:

Senator Kimberley Kitching wrote about the need to stop bullying and make parliament a safer workplace in a letter penned after she was hauled into Kristina Keneally’s office and dumped from Labor’s tactics committee. In the letter, Kitching – who died of a suspected heart attack on March 10 – said the Labor caucus should reflect on the difference between the “entirely normal contest of political rivals or rival ideas and what could reasonably be characterised as a campaign of bullying”.

“Standards in workplaces have changed and we should all think about the application of those standards to ensure a safe workplace for everyone here,” she wrote.

She finalised the seven-page letter and printed it out to deliver by hand to Senator Keneally – deputy leader of the opposition in the Senate – on June 21, 2021.

BRAD NORINGTON
Kitching had been hauled into a closed-door meeting the week before with Keneally where she was wrongly accused of disloyalty and siding with Liberal minister Linda Reynolds over the Brittany Higgins allegations. Instead of delivering the document, Kitching chose to have a one-on-one meeting with Richard Marles to present her case as outlined in her letter.

That meeting took place the next day, June 22, at 3.30pm in his office. “She felt Richard was the most senior person in the leadership group and in the Right (faction) who could protect her from this,” a source close to her told The Weekend Australian.

Kitching raised with Marles how she was being frozen out by the Senate leadership team and spoke about being unfairly dumped from the tactics committee – a senior group that meets daily to decide on question time strategy.

Marles has come under pressure this week over what action he took – if any – after Kitching raised her concerns with him, as first revealed by The Australian on Wednesday. Marles has refused to address the questions, citing respect for Kitching and her family ahead of her funeral on Monday. Kitching’s letter has been provided to The Weekend Australian by those close to her after a week in which senior Labor figures sought to dismiss any suggestion she was subject to unfair treatment by Penny Wong and Keneally. Friends say Kitching was subject to a pattern of hostile behaviour by senior Labor figures that resulted in her being frozen out and ostracised. Wong on Friday said she apologised to Senator Kitching after saying during a heated meeting that she wouldn’t understand the climate change emergency because she didn’t have children. Kitching had been unable to have children.

Kitching’s letter provided a detailed rebuttal to claims she warned Reynolds, the then defence minister, about the Higgins affair.

In the letter, she wrote that there was “obviously, generally, a fine line between the entirely normal contest of political rivals or rival ideas and what could be reasonably characterised as a campaign of bullying.

“That’s something I think all senators should reflect on, within our caucus and beyond it.

“Standards in workplaces have changed and we should all think about the application of those standards to ensure a safe workplace for everyone here.”

Kitching calls for a “fair, transparent process” for dealing with matters like hers and says it should be a matter of discussion at Labor caucus.

“While Senator Reynolds’ claims are easily dispensed with, as I have demonstrated, that might not always be the case in these situations, so a fair, transparent process for dealing with these matters is probably welcome and prudent,” she wrote.

“Outlining how you think this might work going forward might be usefully discussed at a Senate caucus meeting.”

Kitching noted that she frequently heard “lurid things” Wong had said about her and others.

In the context of disputing the credibility of Reynolds’ claims that Kitching had pre-warned her about the Higgins saga, Kitching writes that there are often scurrilous rumours that turn out to be lies. “Obviously enough, if we were to accept as fact every claim made about us by Liberals, there would be no-one left in the caucus,” she wrote.

“Shameful silence is a killer in communities ” Janet AlbrechtsenFollow @jkalbrechtsen

11:00PM March 18, 2022
65 Comments

After the jury’s unanimous verdict last week finding Zachary Rolfe not guilty of murdering Kumanjayi Arnold Walker, Warlpiri elder Ned Jampijinpa Hargraves asked: “When are we going to get justice?”

“When?” he cried, in front of a media pack.

Justice in the eyes of Walker’s family and many in his community means putting a young white policeman in jail, irrespective of his innocence. They want answers for their boy’s death. The easiest one is to blame a white cop, ignoring that Walker was a troubled and violent man who savagely bashed his girlfriend, attacked a policeman with an axe, used a pair of scissors as a dagger to stab Rolfe and was threatening to stab Rolfe’s partner Adam Eberl before he was shot.

The family’s grief is understandable. Harder to digest are kneejerk and stubbornly blind reactions from community groups, from legal bodies, from elite elders, and from sections of the media. Not to mention the silence from high profile women who almost daily use their media platforms to condemn violence against certain kinds of women. They have not said a word about the violent abuse suffered by Walker’s teenage girlfriend.

Justice has many sides. While the jury delivered a unanimous decision about the circumstances leading to Walker’s death, what about the circumstances of his life? Who cares about the injustice that turned a baby into a violent and deeply troubled young boy named Arnold Walker?

As The Australian reported this week, this is a story about a little boy whose mother was a “sniffer” and drank heavily while pregnant, a boy given away and reared in different homes where he was surrounded by alcohol abuse and domestic violence, shunted from place to place only to endure more dysfunction.

At 15 months old, Walker was suffering from various infections, nits and scabies. At 11, he was breaking into properties. By 13, he was drinking and taking drugs, inhaling petrol, paint, and deodorant. He had no real home.

There will be a shot at justice when Indigenous babies can avoid Walker’s fate. That will only happen when Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australia alike wakes up to the epidemic of dysfunction and violence in some Indigenous communities. When we demand that it be addressed by all levels of society: government, civil society, and by the communities where violence and abuse hides and thrives behind walls of silence.

There will also be a shot at justice for Indigenous girls when they can avoid the fate of Walker’s girlfriend, Rickisha Robertson. Walker was barely 15 when he started bashing the teenage Rickisha. But no one has uttered a word about the injustice to a young girl who was regularly and brutally bashed by Walker.

The Australian detailed that horrifying story this week too. It started when Robertson was 14. Walker beat her with a piece of steel. He punched her, kicked her, in her face and to her body. He bit her face. He choked her, holding her neck with two hands, lifting her off the ground. Not once or twice. But regularly. Not alone. It happened in front of others in the small Yuendumu community.

“It was really hard that he was assaulting me but he always said: ‘I forgive you’,” Robertson told The Australian in an interview.

“I’m the one who was getting in his way,” she said.

Who cares about the ingrained injustice where an abused young Indigenous girl blames herself for being bashed? If white feminists can’t condemn this, what is their point?

Alas, on Indigenous matters, we prefer to obsess about the safe, the symbolic moves. Australians got behind Kevin Rudd’s symbolic apology in parliament. That must have made plenty of white people feel better.

Now we’re obsessing about a constitutional race-based voice for Indigenous people, another device for elites to chat and debate and complain. That will make us feel better too. Look, we will say, we are doing something.

And then we can carry on in studied ignorance while more babies are neglected and abused and grow into men like Walker. And we will continue to run scared from racial discrimination claims so that Indigenous children are not removed from dire neglect and abuse.

After the verdict, Indigenous man Warren Williams demanded that Indigenous people be “recognised as true owners of this land. We need to have control of our lives. We have our own yapa system in our culture, in our law.”

Who cares about the ingrained injustice where an abused young Indigenous girl blames herself for being bashed? If white feminists can’t condemn this, what is their point?.

For how long will land rights be the focus of Indigenous elders while young Indigenous girls suffer horrific violence? Where is the call for justice for Rickisha Robertson from those in the Yuendumu community who are demanding justice for Walker?

After the verdict this week, another elder said that the community is deeply disappointed with the trial: “I can’t with honesty say that it’s been fair … this is not the last you will hear from Kumanjayi Walker’s family.”

Yes, we need to hear more. When will we hear elders condemn men in their own community, men like Walker, who repeatedly abused a teenage girl?

Nurses who worked and lived in the Yuendumu community faced constant and horrific violence too? Perpetrators were not prosecuted. Instead, the nurses were evacuated from the Indigenous community for their safety.

From Medscape – a long article with many case studies of transitioning regret and inability to get help in detransitioning. Also a recognition that many young people become obsessed with online sites pushing transitioning in the first place, in a form of psychological mindsetting. Slowly being recognised as an issue of great and under-reported significance.

Doctors Have Failed Them, Say Those With Transgender Regret

In a unique Zoom conference, a number of detransitioners enumerated the ways they said the medical establishment initially failed them when they transitioned to the opposite gender, and again, when they decided to go back to their natal gender.

The forum was convened on what was dubbed #DetransitionAwarenessDay by Genspect, a parent-based organization that seeks to put the brakes on medical transitions for children and adolescents. The group has doubts about the gender-affirming care model supported by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and other medical groups.

“Affirmative” medical care is defined as treatment with puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones for those with gender dysphoria to transition to the opposite sex and is often followed by gender reassignment surgery. However, there is growing concern among many doctors and other healthcare professionals as to whether this is, in fact, the best way to proceed for those under aged 18, in particular, with several countries pulling back on medical treatment and instead emphasizing psychotherapy first.

The purpose of the second annual Genspect meeting, held March 12, was to shed light on the experiences of individuals who have detransitioned — those that identified as transgender and transitioned, but then decided to end their medical transition. People logged on from all over the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Chile, and Brazil, among other countries.

“This is a minority within a minority,” said Genspect advisor Stella O’Malley, adding that the first meeting in 2021 was held because “too many people were dismissing the stories of the detransitioners.” O’Malley is a psychotherapist, a clinical advisor to the Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine, and a founding member of the International Association of Therapists for Desisters and Detransitioners.

“It’s become blindingly obvious over the last year that…’detrans’ is a huge part of the trans phenomenon,” said O’Malley, adding that detransitioners have been “undermined and dismissed.”

Laura Edwards-Leeper, PhD (@DrLauraEL), a prominent gender therapist who has recently expressed concern regarding adequate gatekeeping when treating youth with gender dysphoria, agreed.

She tweeted: “You simply can’t call yourself a legit gender provider if you don’t believe that detransitioners exist. As part of the informed consent process for transitioning, it is unethical to not discuss this possibility with young people.” Edwards-Leeper is professor emeritus in the School of Graduate Psychology at Pacific University in Hillsboro, Oregon.
