Bill Shorten has urged Australians to buy electric cars because petrol prices are so high, while blaming Scott Morrison for the unaffordability of EVs.
This year electricity price rises are going to be huge. Gas prices are humungous ($11.50/GJ according to AEMO just now) and thermal coal prices are at stratospheric heights I wouldn’t’ve believed possible a few years ago.
Maybe Kevin can talk to ScoMo and get him to OK a few gas fracking wells and new coal mines. Also to prevent closure of Eraring and Liddell. I’m sure he feels great pain for the suffering of ordinary people whenever they get their electricity and gas bills.
Tits is an arsehole; the seat of Hunter will change from the liars to PHON. The issue will be however if rub and tug wins the supply of electricity not its cost. My prediction is, if rub and tug wins he will collude with matt fucking kean to close Liddell and Eraring ahead of schedule and can the proposed new Kurri gas plant and power rationing will follow within 1 month of Liddell’s closure.

Yes Sanchez. If you’re looking for nursing care this place is fine- great even. If you’re looking for medical care the only real docs are taught at Ivy League and the two major universities in the UK. Anyone else, even for an ingrown toe nail, you’re taking your life in your hands.

I almost wonder if that was a deliberate hand grenade dropped down Albo’s pants.

I thought Melbourne and Sydney were meant to be ok. (Incidentally, the head of medicine at Cambridge is a Melbourne graduate.)
Also I still think you’re being harsh on the London teaching hospitals and the ancient Scottish universities. Lots of Melbourne and Sydney graduates go to the UK for clinical training or postgraduate studies and they don’t all end up at the Radcliffe or Addenbrookes.

The Australian system has undoubtedly taken its toll. A contemporary of mine who works in the hospital system told me that there are still a reasonable number of “professional” (in the true sense) doctors in our hospitals but the overall ambience is getting more and more public service.
And I did presume that you might not have refused treatment in the US from, say, someone from Johns Hopkins.

Religious Discrimination Bill Part 5/5 – Protestants can only ever be religious freedom losers

In the short term, Christians need to understand that the only political fix they can achieve in relation to their problems is to stop the rot: don’t make things worse.
Supporting the the Religious Discrimination Bill is the opposite of not making things worse.
But the real solution to this problem is to understand that there is only one Church any government can properly recognise as the true Christian religion: it is the Catholic Church.
Oh, and “pureblood”?
It’s trucker talk.
They say it into their CB cash-boxes.

AMSA have all docs nuts in a vice.
Doesn’t matter what they do, a government body can second guess them and make them dance for 8 months at a time
This is an excellent breakdown.
Batteries, they do not make electricity – they store electricity produced elsewhere, primarily by coal, uranium, natural gas-powered plants, or diesel-fueled generators. So, to say an EV is a zero-emission vehicle is not at all valid.
Also, since forty percent of the electricity generated in the U.S. is from coal-fired plants, it follows that forty percent of the EVs on the road are coal-powered, do you see?”
Einstein’s formula, E=MC2, tells us it takes the same amount of energy to move a five-thousand-pound gasoline-driven automobile a mile as it does an electric one. The only question again is what produces the power? To reiterate, it does not come from the battery; the battery is only the storage device, like a gas tank in a car.
There are two orders of batteries, rechargeable, and single-use. The most common single-use batteries are A, AA, AAA, C, D. 9V, and lantern types. Those dry-cell species use zinc, manganese, lithium, silver oxide, or zinc and carbon to store electricity chemically. Please note they all contain toxic, heavy metals.
Rechargeable batteries only differ in their internal materials, usually lithium-ion, nickel-metal oxide, and nickel-cadmium. The United States uses three billion of these two battery types a year, and most are not recycled; they end up in landfills. California is the only state which requires all batteries be recycled. If you throw your small, used batteries in the trash, here is what happens to them.
All batteries are self-discharging. That means even when not in use, they leak tiny amounts of energy. You have likely ruined a flashlight or two from an old, ruptured battery. When a battery runs down and can no longer power a toy or light, you think of it as dead; well, it is not. It continues to leak small amounts of electricity. As the chemicals inside it run out, pressure builds inside the battery’s metal casing, and eventually, it cracks. The metals left inside then ooze out. The ooze in your ruined flashlight is toxic, and so is the ooze that will inevitably leak from every battery in a landfill. All batteries eventually rupture; it just takes rechargeable batteries longer to end up in the landfill.
In addition to dry cell batteries, there are also wet cell ones used in automobiles, boats, and motorcycles. The good thing about those is, ninety percent of them are recycled. Unfortunately, we do not yet know how to recycle single-use ones properly.
But that is not half of it. For those of you excited about electric cars and a green revolution, I want you to take a closer look at batteries and also windmills and solar panels. These three technologies share what we call environmentally destructive production costs.
A typical EV battery weighs one thousand pounds, about the size of a travel trunk. It contains twenty-five pounds of lithium, sixty pounds of nickel, 44 pounds of manganese, 30 pounds cobalt, 200 pounds of copper, and 400 pounds of aluminum, steel, and plastic. Inside are over 6,000 individual lithium-ion cells.
It should concern you that all those toxic components come from mining. For instance, to manufacture each EV auto battery, you must process 25,000 pounds of brine for the lithium, 30,000 pounds of ore for the cobalt, 5,000 pounds of ore for the nickel, and 25,000 pounds of ore for copper. All told, you dig up 500,000 pounds of the earth’s crust for just – one – battery.”
Sixty-eight percent of the world’s cobalt, a significant part of a battery, comes from the Congo. Their mines have no pollution controls, and they employ children who die from handling this toxic material. Should we factor in these diseased kids as part of the cost of driving an electric car?”
I’d like to leave you with these thoughts. California is building the largest battery in the world near San Francisco, and they intend to power it from solar panels and windmills. They claim this is the ultimate in being ‘green,’ but it is not. This construction project is creating an environmental disaster. Let me tell you why.
The main problem with solar arrays is the chemicals needed to process silicate into the silicon used in the panels. To make pure enough silicon requires processing it with hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrogen fluoride, trichloroethane, and acetone. In addition, they also need gallium, arsenide, copper-indium-gallium- diselenide, and cadmium-telluride, which also are highly toxic. Silicon dust is a hazard to the workers, and the panels cannot be recycled.
Windmills are the ultimate in embedded costs and environmental destruction. Each weighs 1688 tons (the equivalent of 23 houses) and contains 1300 tons of concrete, 295 tons of steel, 48 tons of iron, 24 tons of fiberglass, and the hard to extract rare earths neodymium, praseodymium, and dysprosium. Each blade weighs 81,000 pounds and will last 15 to 20 years, at which time it must be replaced. We cannot recycle used blades.
There may be a place for these technologies, but you must look beyond the myth of zero emissions.
“Going Green” may sound like the Utopian ideal but when you look at the hidden and embedded costs realistically with an open mind, you can see that Going Green is more destructive to the Earth’s environment than meets the eye, for sure.

Sancho,
Some truck gearboxes are fully automatic, many are autos shift, but there are still a huge number of road ranger boxes out there. They come in all different configurations and numbers of gears.
At present we have an old Mack water cart with an 18 speed in it and like Duk said clutch to get going and stop, the rest is done by feel and sound. $00 rpm per gear and 200 rpm per split. Watch the tacho and keep listening and feel the click in the box.
Here in WA an HR license can be for an auto, a synchro box or a roadie. Obviously if you have the roadie licence you are presumed to be capable of the other two.
Out at Murrin Murrin the enormous triple road trains that haul on private roads have an 18 speed roadie in them. They haul 270 tonne of product and weigh around 400 tonnes all up.
They don’t make an auto that can handle that stress. Mistime it when starting off and even a roadie will go pop, which will earn the driver a window seat on the next plane out.
Make that 400 rpm. DUH!!
HERESY!!!
Its been a while but ours was a 13 spd and had 2 buttons on the stick. Unloaded, you only used every 3rd gear or so.

More than 1000 teachers have been dismissed and now in the process of being terminated by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) for simply enacting informed consent to a medical procedure without coercion. They declined to accept a trial drug (this position is 100% supported by The Vatican’s Holy See in writing) or refused to disclose their medical status in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Australian law).
The culture of silence and discriminatory practices within Catholic Education Melbourne and the cover-up’s that have taken, and continue to take place by the organisation, will be revealed in a forthcoming (uncensored) documentary exposing what is occurring behind closed doors.
The TCCAC-V Committee are in the process of enacting legal advice to reinstate and compensate the people who have suffered unimaginable pain and suffering through discrimination, workplace bullying, segregation, marginalisation, intimidation, psychological abuse, negligence, an absence of health and wellbeing support and a lifeline of support and assistance through communications.
This act of inhumane cruelty taken by the organisation will no longer be tolerated or covered up.

The Religious Discrimination Bill might have slipped from the front page a month ago but you need to understand what happened and the threat that still faces us.
Christian freedom in Australia was almost destroyed. And the Australian Christian Lobby, more than any other organisation, promoted this disaster. It continues to do so.
You should not donate to this organisation again. It continues to campaign for a Religious Discrimination Bill. But all it is doing is empowering the ‘Thought Police’.
I’m onto youse.
All this gearbox talk is just a National Party ruse to distract us from … what were we talking about again?

You sue your ethno-religious group until they agree to the terms of your political protest you want to make against a third party?
The nurses are a big part of the problem.
I’m losing sympathy for them – fast.
Quadrant magazine is calling Kumanjayi Walker “The Northern Territory’s own George Floyd.”
They’re correct.
They’re both career criminals who were killed at work through their own lack of diligence to OH&S.
Interesting.
Dunno, Sal. Tribal law in Western Australia goes like this. You throw stones at the ambulance, you break into the nurses houses, smash their car windscreens, the old men of the tribe take you into the bush, break both your legs and whistlecock you. They let the nurse know where you are, and it’s up to her to decide whether she arrives to collect you..
We used to own a holiday home in Lancelin. One evening, my mate and I were doing the dishes. What I can only describe as a ball (about half the size of a basketball) of pinkish-white light drifted past the window over the sink and then came back through the flywire (we stepped back, obviously) and over the sink. It sat there for maybe two seconds and then moved towards the water spout of the sink. It hit that and bzzzzt, it was suddenly gone.
We all saw it (four adults — all sober) and think it may have been some form of ball lightning.
Western Australia is very different to NT & Qld:
Y’all should secede.
I used to work in the back blocks of the Goldfields … I mean w-a-y out.
In a particular location one night, the locals had destroyed the nursing post and were intent on attacking the nurses’ quarters.
Nurses fled to the school compound. (No joke, it was fenced off behind cyclone wire and barbed wire topping.)
The principal (early 30s, about 6’5″ on the old scale), made sure everyone was safe in a central room, then went outside to “calm the mob”.
He spoke to them for a while and it all calmed down. He raised his arms and said, plans out, “OK people, just go home”.
As he did, a length of sharpened re-bar came over the fence and caught him below the armpit, skidded along his ribs, and passed through out his back.
And after he was treated in hospital in XXXXXXXXX he went back out there. One of his staff couldn’t take it anymore and had a complete nervous breakdown; we had to fly her out for treatment.
That’s just couple of the things I saw. And according to my mate in the Kimberley, it’s far, far, FAR worse now.
plans out = palms out FFS!
Hmmm.
I spent a lot of my working life in the Gascoyne, Pilbara and Goldfields regions of WA.
I learned very early in my working life to keep clear of the aboriginal “communities” and to keep engagement with locals to an absolute minimum.
The towns are filthy rubbish tips, a huge proportion of the people are shiftless lazy drunks/druggies who will steal anything not nailed down, even low value things like a coil of rope from your vehicle or just smash things for the fun of it.
I have had tens of thousands of dollars worth of damages done to my work Landcruisers, stolen antennae, spare tyres, jerrycans, tool kits, smashed windows, even lifesaver items like PLBs and first aid kits. They don’t care, if it’s reachable it’s stealable.
Many people have been horrified by the recent stories coming out about Arnold Walker (now at room temperature) his early life, his record of drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence, vandalism, and general thuggishness and are appalled that anyone could live like this in modern Australia or how a hell hole like Yuendumu hasn’t been bulldozed flat.
I’m not one of them. I have seen it all and worse.
This is what perpetuates the problem.
Rosie posted an article earlier, of an event in Yuendumu a couple of years prior to the Walker shooting. The manager of the swimming pool was murdered in his quarters, by a couple of locals who broke in while he was inside, stole stuff, smashed other stuff, & bashed him to death with one of the shovels they used to break in.
For as long as nurses/teachers/pool managers/other sheep just keep returning to their ransacked quarters, whilst nursing black eyes & bandaged ribs, nothing will change.
It is their own free choice.
The situation they are in would not happen at my place.
Blowhard alert.
Yeah but … on The Drum last Friday they had some ABC NT journalist who stated that the clinic was closed at the community and there needs to be an investigation into that. What rubbish, she must have known that the clinic was closed because lives and property were being threatened.
They want self-determination. Fine, give it to them good and hard. Let them sort out all the assholes in their community, let them stop their people being the FASD capital of the world, let them use their 60,000 years of woo to heal the sick and reinvigorate their communities.
I am so utterly over all this. Salvatore I’d love to think that your solution of abandoning them could be implemented but sadly the usual cries of racism would emerge and there are too many naïve people out there who think they can save the unredeemable assholes. The narrative is too controlled by activists and I cannot perceive how we can change that.

Like court jesters of a tyrant king, they’re babbling insanely in the deluded belief that they will joke their way out of the torture chamber they’re being dragged to for having failed miserably at their one job.
Thanks for pasting that Tinta.
I have a number of things to say about this stomach churning piece because quite honestly, after reading this, I feel physically sick. I should preface all of this by saying that the female of the species can be bitchy, nasty and toxic in ways males can never be. Women and girls isolating other women and girls who cross them or annoy them is standard female behaviour to attack females we don’t like. We’ve been doing it since we came down from trees. It’s in our DNA. I know all of this because I’m a woman, I’ve seen it and I’ve experienced it. Men might have a physical bust up between each other…..but the next day they can sit down and have a drink with each other. But we women, forgiving and forgetting the next day…….never.
Kimberley Kitching was one of the few Labor people I’d have crossed the road to talk to. She always struck me as intelligent, dignified and decent. I’m not saying she was perfect but then who is? What’s interesting is that former Labor MP Michael Danby is speaking up through Sharri Markson, I suspect Kitching’s untimely death might be a catalyst. Danby knows where the skeletons are….and he should out them all. One thing is clear, Danby knows that Wong is a loathsome and very nasty piece of work. Kitching also supported Nicolle Flint, whose real bullying experiences at the hand of some journalists and GetUp, union and Labor party activists have been conveniently ignored by the progressive MSM. Re. Flint, I have no doubts whatsoever that Wong, whilst probably not directly behind the disgraceful behaviour levelled at Flint (Wong would know how to keep her hands clean), certainly knew about it and either supported such measures or turned a blind eye to it.
It was clear to me from day one that the whole Higgins case, just like the Porter and Tudge cases, were ideological and political tools designed to smear, attack and bring down a Coalition government. The stench was obvious from the beginning in all these cases and yet the eternally stupid Morrison fell for all of them hook, line and sinker. Let’s hope and pray that justice prevails for the young man in the Higgins case, just as it prevailed for Zachary Rolfe and finally prevailed for George Pell…..because the whole thing stinks. I have no doubt Wong and Keneally were behind weaponising these allegations.
Thanks to Coalition stupidity we’re soon to be governed by these “Labor” people. Albanese, Gallagher, Wong and the unspeakable Keneally. The only hope is that, whilst Labor is elected, Keneally fails in her quest for the “safe” seat of Fowler because if the rumour is true and current Fairfield Mayor Frank Carbone runs, he’d win the seat easily. There is nobody more despicable in federal parliament (and yes, that’s saying something) than Eddie’s girl, Kristina Keneally. She has long been known to be a “mean bitch”……going back to her earliest days in state parliament, in fact that’s how she gained pre-selection against the existing Labor member Deirdre Grusovin. Keneally is a backstabbing, mean, nasty and vindictive woman.
It’s worth remembering that this toxic duo of Wong and Keneally initiated and led the senate censure against Bettina Arndt (a woman), a motion which the Liberals and National all happily supported. It was the ultimate act of bullying. I hope you’re proud Coalition senators. You reap what you sow. Anyone with a grain of decency would have walked away from supporting such a motion, instead all we got was cowardice from conservatives who should have known better. I’m looking at you Senator Stoker. I’ll be glad to see you gone.
Finally, when you hear the shallow words “girl power”…..all it means is “bitch power”, usually directed at other females or at the expense of other females.

I don’t know who first started the innuendo that the USA “has” biolabs in Ukraine, but it wasn’t Nuland no matter how many claim Nuland is their source.
If the USA has bioweapons labs in Ukraine, we are still waiting for a fact that confirms it.
Colonel Berka, Glenn Greenwald has unlocked all his columns on substack.
He has a range of videos up on YouTube.
His rumble channel has one additional one that he didn’t put on YouTube.
It’s all there.
If you’re being semantic about whether a US funded lab operated by Ukrainians isn’t a US lab, just say it.
Whack.
I LOVE that something so serious could be written so well as to make me literally (in the literal sense of the word 😉 ), Laugh Out Loud! 🙂
Nancy Pelosi Has Putin Strategery Figured Out, He is Trying to Bait Her into a NATO Attack
March 15, 2022 | Sundance | 6 Comments
Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, made it clear today that she has Russian President Vladimir Putin’s strategery all figured out.
According to her press conference remarks, Speaker Pelosi says the Russian president is trying to bait her into attacking his forces in Ukraine so that he can start World War III against her. Although, Pelosi did say she’s not a well experienced military strategist, but she knows his trickery and stuff. WATCH:

Fun fact.
In Oz, the TGA now requires influencers to be clear if they are being paid to promote a product.
Big fines if you don’t.
Can’t have an unsuspecting punter being sold on something now can we.
Also in Oz, influencers are not required to disclose whether they received taxpayer money to promote any part of the COVID narrative.
You know it makes sense.

This is very simple. The human brain cannot foresee long-term consequences until it is well into the late stages of teenagerdom, and only then if it has been appropriately trained.
If that inarguable concept is used as a platform, it can very safely be said that the transgender concept in people yet to reach adulthood is the result of one of only two things:
1. A severe mental illness requiring treatment and ongoing management by people who know what they’re doing, OR
2. A sustained and equally severe form of child abuse on the part of ‘parent/s’, sections of the medical profession and a developing entrenched industry reliant on government funding – in which case it should be treated in the same manner as other forms of child abuse and its proponents jailed.

The oligarchs in Russia & Ukraine stole their billions legally.
People just don’t get it.
The biggest thefts on the planet are all being done legally.
This has probably already been suggested by other commenters though I have not seen it so here goes ….
Formal annexation of the Donbas was supposed to be all that Putin got the US to do, Biden’s “minor incursion” flub was the tip-off. However, Putin saw that he was dealing with total imbeciles in the US administration and thought why not go for all of it. After all, he was unlikely to ever get another opportunity like the present.
What nobody expected was the Ukrainian resistance and here we are.
The $1.5trill Omnibus is legal.
It’s also theft.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi will not hand over video coverage and emails from Jan 6 per a FOIA request. Pelosi based her decision on “sovereign immunity.” Pelosi and Democrats know if they release the 14,000 hours of footage from security cameras on January 6 it will blow apart their narrative. So she is hiding it.
Rising Number of Illegal Immigrant Hardened Criminals Cross Into US
During President Obama’s last year in office, the number of illegal immigrants arrested at the border with a known criminal record was 12,842.
Under President Trump, the number steadily declined. His first year, 2018, the number was cut by one-third to 8,531. Even as Trump opponents and open-border advocates fought border enforcement initiatives, the number of convicted criminals crossing into the United States and getting arrested dropped about 2,000 per year, until it was down to 2,438 in 2020.
Then under President Biden’s relatively open-border policy, the number bumped back up to well past 10,000 in 2021. (10,763)
Which triple vaxxed AFL player(s) – because how else can you play in WA – will be the first to pull out on field complaining of “chest pains” and we’ll pretend it’s all just a remarkable coincidence?
Taking bets.
Well, the NT Gummint and the top rung of their jack department could have walked away from the Rolfe murder trial, taken their medicine and bunkered down for a bit with their traps shut.
But no.
Evidently they have now gone through every single one of the jobs this bloke went to in the three years prior to the shooting, looking to load him up with internal disciplinary charges in an effort to prevent him coming back to work, which he apparently wants to do.
On top of that, Chief Minister Michael Gunner has now alienated quite a few (read: everyone except hand-patters) by calling them ‘conspiracy nuts’ on the radio. The NT News, apropos of an interview with Gunner on Mix 104.9 up here:
Chalker, in a separate statement:
When it comes out that both Gunner and Chalker watched the body worn video – in isolation – together, and alongside several other top NT jacks and government figures on the morning after the shooting and making the decision there and then to have him moida-beefed (which is the extremely good mail) – it will be interesting.

at that point, I stopped reading.

Instead of linking to what I consider an apposite quote, I shall link to a film clip from A Man for All Seasons.
It is not Putin’s daughter or even the oligarchs that are calling themselves bad. It is a mob most of whom seem to have chosen a side based on what they have read in the paper rather than looking for facts. The people behind it (or their mongrel heirs) will do it to anyone – even you – with just the same blithe indifference should their eyes light upon you.
And this is why you should not be demanding politicians cut off the power to certain households – the left has more political clout than the right. These sorts of punishments for opinion will certainly be visited more on the right than on the left.

Kamala Harris did not say, “The United States stands firmly with the Ukrainian people in defense of the NATO Alliance.”
That’s just what you think you heard, apparently.

Ah hahaha.
Watching the teev. There is footage of what’s described as a ‘road rage’ brawl between two blokes during pick up time at a school.
Shirtless bloke puts a pole through a car window (which is down). Pole goes in and out of window. Arms are waved from outside and inside the car. Shirtless bloke kicks car. Note: shirtless bloke has Ben Cousins-style tattoo across his guts.
Bald fatter bloke (celtic partial sleeve tatts) emerges. Scuffle ensues across two lanes of traffic and back into median strip where it started. Multiple uppercuts in the style of ice hockey are thrown. Multiple haymakers, in the style of (aptly) schoolyards are thrown. Percentage of punches landed – 0. Jacks turn up.
Loads of mums and kids watching on. A terrible example set, particularly to the children.
Fighting angry. No transfer of weight. No balance maintained, and no other technique displayed. No serious injuries, and no apparent outcome.
Both parties should be sentenced to have their bad man tatts removed, and to only drive a Hyundai Getz, Mazda 1, Honda Jazz or Miata – all burnt pink – for the rest of their lives.
A shameful display.

FFS. The proposal is that those who want green electricity have the consequences of that decision visited on *them*, not on the rest of us who don’t share the delusion. People can sign up for green power. Just explain that they get a smart meter and get cut off first. How many will do it?
Do you really want the consequences foisted on the rest of us at the same time as on the green loons?

This says more about the perennial warmonger Lindsey Graham than it does about Biden.

Currently “green power” and “sustainable power” are marketing terms used in domestic supply contracts, which are voluntary commercial arrangements between a power retailer and consumer.
How would you propose to legislate and regulate these rules into a workable law?
Nancy Pelosi: The Speaker of the House who can’t speak
As a simple experiment:
• go to DuckDuckGo;
• enter us biolabs Ukraine in the search bar;
• set the custom search range to (say) 1/1/05 to 1/1/21;
• search
You will find thousands of references to US-funded biolabs, biological warfare preparations, and the like running back for years:
– date clustered around spasms in Russia/West politics;
– most posted on sites with names like redreveal, euvsdisinfo, darkinfo;
– many with identical displayed text clips (probably don’t click on the links).
Also:
– archival MSM articles;
– discussion sites, allegedly US-based exMil/Tea Party/conspiracy;
– Official US government links and statements on the CTR program.
This has been busily contested space for 15+ years; thickly populated by Russian trolls, nutters, enthusiasts, and government information/misinformation. Within it all, there is thoroughly documented detail of an extensive, worldwide, US-funded biolab presence running back to the 2005 Nunn-Lugar act.
Against all this I am amazed that:
a) the Biden Administration has fluffed around and played guiltily into the current troll-storm;
b) journalists get away with presenting this as ‘ breaking news’.
Pretty sure that ‘certain households’ means ‘not all of us’.
And you seem to be blind to the fact that they think our use of electricity has a negative effect and will therefore decide we must be forced to live with the consequences. They think normal folk are causing the planet to get hotter (no aircon for you!), causing droughts (restrictions on your water), and countless other things – I know there is a list out there which is at least a page long.
They also believe reliable energy sources cause floods. Do you think they would consider droughts and floods cancel out so they can leave that alone? Or that you should be punished for both?
Quite so ML.
Be careful what you wish for when you regulate to deprive people of the basics because of “the consequences of their choices”.
Isn’t that the crux of the anti-vax mandate argument?
In case it is not clear from my 9:11 post, full context is here (since you won’t find it scrolling), and my point is that if we do things like targetting green-nutters, they will have absolutely no compunction (or restraint) in doing so to us. And as we see the activists clout far outweighs the right, they will do more to us.
This is not an arena where we would win.
The Jo Nova article on the volcanic dust causing unusual rainfall is interesting. Seems plausible.
You could conclude cloud seeding works except that for cloud seeding to work on small scales you need clouds to begin with and because of the patchy nature of rainfall it is very difficult to tell if you have succeeded. This event was VERY large scale, combined with a weak La Nina. Now we need to organise another large volcano during an El Nino.
Why don’t I get liberal party talking point faxes?
Other than because I don’t have a fax machine.
School in Sydney lifts NAPLAN results using the old-fashioned way of students working hard and not being a pain in the arse:
“Not one child went backwards during Covid,’’ she said.

“They are very shy families and won’t come to speak to us, but they acknowledge that it’s quite a privilege to be in Australia and they want their children to succeed.
“They respect teachers and consider them to be almost up there with doctors. They’re incredibly grateful and appreciative of the learning their children get.’’

The bad news is that they are already doing it to us because our politicians with their focus groups etc are trying to appease them. The real point is to bring home to the pollies that appeasing green is all very well but when it comes to paying out or other consequences, the political support is really very low.

I went to the shops this morning. My ANZ credit card did not work and the message was not ‘declined’ but something else. Finished with ‘Refer’ which I expect means call the bank. So I used a debit card.
Slightly embarrassed I went to an ATM to get some cash (I like to keep a bit of cash on me) and it worked fine.
Next shop I said there was a problem with the credit card at the other place and I wanted to see if the problem was ongoing or beyond that first shop. Same message. So out comes the debit card. Declined!
Now I knew there was no fund shortage, nor had I made any unusual purchases (which I have seen used as a reason to block purchases).
So I get back home and call the bank. There they announce that there have been problems with cards and they apologised for the problem. That is all. No idea of when it might be resolved, no hint as to the cause or what you might expect to find you are unable to do. Nothing else.
I stayed on the line so I could speak to a person – or at least one of those facsimiles they maintain. Due to problems, the automated voice says, they cannot currently accept calls. One more useless apology, and disconnect.
