When did this trend of calling Aboriginal “elders” “Uncle” and “Aunty” begin?

I know exactly how one aunty got the honorific… She is a blow in from the Central West and has absolutely no knowledge of the local people. Three of her blood nieces and nephews attended the school, and naturally called her Aunty (name deleted).

We got a new boss, and heard the rellies calling her Aunt, and he started calling her Aunty , and within a week the arse lickers were calling her Aunty and it spread through the rest of the staff.

‘Aunty + first name’ in many cultures tends to be an honorific when a younger generation refers to a woman who is a significant other of sorts or a woman who can not simply be addressed on a first-name – not a matter of blood relations at all. In Australia, the honorific was usually, ‘Mrs (or Miss) so and so’. Not so any more.

ZK2 I had been given the impression that the Indigenous families thought that the fees etc were met by the institution-college itself, eg, by Wesley in Melbourne, and not the state.

I’m posting from Western Australia – the families were under no doubt that fees were met by the State – there was no means testing, so even those students who’s fathers were gainfully employed had their fees met…

I’ve seen reviews of Brave, but haven’t used it much.

Brave search seems to work for general stuff, but isn’t very useful for news stories.

Unfortunately both Brave search and DDG do not display any of Tony Heller’s articles even if you force it to search realclimatescience.com. It just gives zero results.

I suspect that means both are using Bing and that Microsoft has blocked Heller on their servers.

Dunno how you get around that, but searching on his own site gets up his articles.

(There are only two actual search engines: Bing and Goolag, as most big websites block webspiders from anyone else, at least from Western search-hopeful sites.)

I will persevere with Brave search for general stuff at least since DDG should be punished.

I’ll add that Russian radar seems to have a problem with on-the-deck targets. A fair few cases of Ukrainian helicopters evading detection by flying below 10 metres altitude, including the two that struck the fuel depot inside Russia. I saw somewhere that the Neptune can reputedly fly at a minimum height of 3 metres (iirc), presuming the weather and sea condition allows it to.

Subject to whether or not Moskva was refitted in the last 10 years or so, we are seeing that major Soviet/Russian Federation surface combatants were even more vulnerable to sea-skimming cruise missile attack than NATO analysts first thought.

I also recall that the development of the MiG-29 and Su-27 in the late 80s and early 90s, was accompanied with much interest in their Look Down/Shoot Down capabilities. It was felt that the best advantage Western Aircraft had when penetrating a Soviet-provided Integrated Air Defence System at the time, was to fly down on the deck. And these two new fighters would go a ways towards closing this gap.

This was before Desert Storm, and the alternative of tearing ragged holes in the system by jamming and knocking out radars in massed strikes was perfected. And the back-and-forth of operations over Serbia and the like came about.

Sea skimming anti-ship missiles have been around for decades so I struggling to believe Russians lack the capacity to track those missiles. On land it is a different matter because of ground clutter and masking but the open sea offers no cover. Perhaps the Moskva lacked that radar capacity because such a strike in the Black Sea was never anticipated. The Neptune can fly very low but is also slow so even the radar guided machine guns should have been able to take them out. The drone decoy idea is interesting, perhaps it was jamming the Russian radar?

Sea skimming anti-ship missiles have been around for decades so I struggling to believe Russians lack the capacity to track those missiles.

I meant in terms of age and equipment/software sophistication, John H.

The threat of sub- and supersonic sea skimmers was a headscratcher since at least the late 1960s and early 1970s. The US naval program that culminated in the F-14 Tomcat, its AWG-9 radar and the AIM-54 Phoenix missile was a means of killing Russian cruise missile-launching bombers before they reached their launch envelopes. And the Oliver Hazard Perry class of frigates was designed at the other end as a second line of air defence, and ultimately a cheap sacrificial picquet ship that would hopefully catch any incoming missiles before they got the carriers or bigger fleet units.

The coming of the AEGIS radar system towards the very end of the Cold War and the development of the Phalanx CIWS filled in the gaps Western Navies had had up to that point, spurred and enhanced by the UK’s experience of the sinkings of HM Ships Glamorgan, Newcastle and Galahad by Argentinean Exocets in 1982.

Thus, Iraqi Silkworm cruise missiles were a source of concern by the time operations in the Persian Gulf in 1990-91 came about. And Aegis and its equivalents, combined with the Standard SAM and Phalanx CIWS have proven themselves as capable cruise missile killers over the last 30 years.

By comparison, the Soviets and their descendants have never really quite had the same experience or spurs to git gud, so to speak, with their missile countermeasures. It’s just not been the same threat to them.

To simplify it right down, I think that an Arleigh Burke or even Spruance in the Moskva’s position would probably have swatted the distraction/target designator drones and Neptunes well out from the danger zone, and not thought any more of it beyond the ammo expenditure.

Thanks Rex. That means every Russian ship is very vulnerable. The Russian navy can’t enter a modern warfare environment because even a penguin missile barrage could take them out.

That’s my take on it, too.

Since the threat of concerted cruise missile strike from hostile surface, air and coastal launches on an expeditionary naval force never really existed for Russia and its Soviet satellites (The Russian Navy has never really been a Blue Water force in the way the French, British, American and to a lesser extent, Spanish, Japanese and Portugese have), and its operations have almost always been long-ranged or close-in defensive patrols of home waters, while their ships have the same arrays of long-range and close-in defensive guns and missiles, they haven’t needed to defend against quite the same saturation missile strikes they can inflict on opposing navies.

I admit that the Moskva tooling about on its own, within Ukrainian coastal missile range is just tactically and strategically dumb, but it was designed for a relative few Harpoons lobbed at it from US Navy or Air Force strike fighters or maybe a submarine.

The systems on ships like the Kashin, Krivak and Moskva and so forth are probably far better at killing aircraft than incoming missiles, since that was the sole expected non-submarine threat. Their Granit SSMs comfortably outranged and outgunned anything a NATO surface combatant could fling at them, and a competently operated fleet could probably keep a single submarine safely at bay.

As I mentioned upthread the USS Mason (an Arleigh Burke) swatted 5 Silkworms in a salvo. That was off Yemen in 2016. They’d been targeted with two salvos of two missiles each in previous days.

UAE lost a big fast catamaran transport the day earlier I think – it was one of the ones built in Tassie. One Silkworm turned it into a burning wreck of twisted aluminium.

Silkworms aren’t great, but it was a real surprise attack, and supposedly in peacetime. Under Iranian orders of course.

Escalation of effort to probe Mason’s defences.

Unfortunately for the Houthi (maybe IRGC. Who knows?) launch crews, AEGIS radars and fire control systems were designed to network and integrate with each other in order to take out 20-30+ supersonic missiles striking at a carrier task group from all points of the compass more-or-less simultaneously.

So 5 subsonic ones coming from a previously identified land vector would be a relative cinch.

Is There Snake Venom in SARS-COV-2?
Drbeen says no. hour long still watching

He doesn’t address the conotoxin issue, nor properly address the snake venoms other than to say we produce some of the same proteins. Its entirely possible the virus triggers elevated quantities of these toxin in the victim, either through immune reaction or through interaction with other viruses or bacteria. This could entirely be a feature of this virus.

He admits conotoxins are not produced by the human body. where did the conotoxins come from, he can’t say. (methinks he has a channel to protect.)

There is no shortage of research into these, most of which is coincidentally classified
Conotoxins: Potential Weapons from the Sea
Potential methods of using of conotoxins in terrorism include contamination of food sources or aerial dispersal in a concentrated population area. The most likely method of dispersal would be as an aerosol [27]. Information on the inhalation effects of conotoxins is not available in the public domain. The onset of effects from inhaling conotoxins would probably be much faster than from cone snail stings assuming adequate absorption of the toxin in the lungs. Conotoxins are not volatile and need to be aerosolized. One barrier is creating the conotoxins as an aerosol is the developing the optimal particle size of 1 to 3 ?m [30].
——-
who would have thought to code the conotoxin into a cold viruses…

The U.S. Army has calculated the LD50 of CTxs to be as low as 5 ?g/kg

a virus isn’t going to deliver this much toxin however it still may cause localised paralysis.

I posted the paper that linked the GP120 HIV protein earlier
Interestingly there is a tweet showing the GP120 HIV proteins on the ccp virus are right at the corners of the spike protein. how convenient. GP120 is used by HIV to gain access to immune cells which it then damages, causing immune deficiency syndrome. Don’t know how real it is as I can’t find it now.

I think the best predictor of what is fake and what isn’t, is unless we can prove otherwise, to generally take the exact opposite views of the MSM narrative and fact checkers.

‘If women were in charge there’d be less violence’: Estonian PM

By George Grylls
The Times
6:04PM April 16, 2022
5 Comments

From her office in the medieval centre of Tallinn, about 200kms from the Russian border, Kaja Kallas explains why the invasion of Ukraine might never have happened if a woman was in charge of the Kremlin.

The Estonian prime minister is one of a new generation of female leaders in the region, along with her counterparts in Lithuania, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.

“When I see the pictures from Ukraine, I’m constantly thinking how sad it is that all the military equipment destroyed is not going to profit any economy or the wellbeing of any people,” she says. “Maybe it’s sexist, but I’m going to say it: if you have given birth to human life, taking away the life of another mother’s child is just so cruel.”

Kallas, a mother of one, explains how her feminist principles have been influenced by The Better Angels of Our Nature, a book by the Canadian psychologist Steven Pinker. “There is one chapter there about if there are female leaders, there is less violence. I absolutely agree.”

Kallas was born in Tallinn in 1977 when Estonia, now a country of 1.3 million people, was still part of the Soviet Union. Following the collapse of communism in eastern Europe, Estonia joined Nato and aligned itself closely with the West. Britain is now the lead partner in an international Nato presence in the country and Boris Johnson recently doubled to 1,650 the number of troops stationed at the Tapa army base, 70 miles from the Russian border.

In WW2, the Japanese pearlers who were based in Darwin, would go out to sea from Darwin and act in support of Japan by strategically placing their boats as a visual marker guiding the ememy planes onto Darwin to kill our people and destroy our property. Not as simple as saying “democracy” when your at war with a foreign power and you are unable to tell who is loyal.

As TE said – bollocks.

Did ‘Shaun’ really think that if true, this wouldn’t have noticed by the RAN, the US Navy and/or the air force elements of both countries and then blown out of the water?

That’s assuming the pearlers weren’t Cowra-ised first. And also that they were there in the first place.

Now this was reported by WaPo, not RT. So I think it’s credible. If you’re on the Ukraine train* – these are your comrades?

After he has suffered,
he will see the light of life and be satisfied;
by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.
Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,
and he will divide the spoils with the strong,
because he poured out his life unto death,

For he bore the sin of many,

Invading a neighbouring country because of Marxist and Tsarist land grabs.

You tell me what’s more shady.

“How dare the Ukes use psychological warfare on the Gopniks, they should instantly surrender and agree to all of Putin’s war aims, psych. warfare is despicable, unlike an invasion, which is only being fought against the globalists”

With a $250 budget, she said living in a share house had become a necessity rather than a choice: “There’s no way I could live by myself,” she said.

“I’m going to uni, I have a job, and I’m struggling to get by. I’m studying to be a teacher. That takes five years … you have to make so many compromises, lower your standard [of living] just to live somewhere, and you have to say thank you.”

Absolutely nothing there that’s different to students of fifty years ago re housing and rent. Possibly a shortage of dilapidated terraces around Chippendale and Redfern.

But what’s with the “and you have to say thank you”? Be grateful you’re in uni with the prospect of an excellent salary on leaving? Be thankful you have a roof over your head and food to eat?

Aborigial wedding ceremony…Spare me.
Nothing like that existed. Nothing.
Ever.
The reasoning they use the bullshit term”Aunty” is because in a language group you get to quite simply knock off anything with the right name group.
Nakamarras can only knock off Jundamarras for example, within the one tribe.
The wrong name will see you killed.
That’s why there were so many raids on their enemy camps to get women.
One male could have numerous women he could knock off, while the rest of the language group had none.
Then you have the young girls going to the elders first, like the best bits of food also did, because what is held up as the purest socialist society wasn’t fair and never progressed like all socialist societies.
There has never been a documented wedding ceremony anywhere, ever, it’s pure fabrication.
The term aunty comes from the fact that women from the same name all acted like mothers to the kids born into the same name……in other words the kids just were just tribally brought up and not the sole responsibility of just one parent which may help you understand the lack of overall individual parental responsibility they still exhibit for their children.

Or even how you’ll manage to find income as the screws tighten after boosters become mandatory (your prediction, BTW), and you need the “tick” to work at all.
I’d be happy to help with a way to allow you to continue your desire to live unjabbed – it should be your choice, and mine too.
Like I said, I have been doing what I can to fight this shit, but am running out of ideas – other than that some group effort in an area I haven’t considered might have more luck.
So I asked the self-declared bastion of freedom and self-determination for ideas and got… just say no. I asked how he plans to make sure this doesn’t happen again, and got… just sit it out.
Not that I blame you for not having a plan of attack – not whinging about that, how could I when I don’t have one? I just thought, since you seemed so determined and all, that you might have something other than “hide and hope they don’t notice me”. But apparently I was wrong about that.

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2022/apr/17/aec-alarmed-at-dangerous-voter-claims-spreading-before-australian-election

The AEC said it was monitoring growing misinformation claims spreading online around voter integrity. The AEC is concerned at this conversation being “imported” from America, following widespread baseless claims about voter fraud in Donald Trump’s 2020 presidential election loss.*

“While many of the posts simply encourage people to ‘bring a pen’ and ‘fill in a stat dec’, the inference often being made is that the counting process is somehow subject to manipulation. This is simply not the case,” an AEC spokesman told Guardian Australia.

* If thats what they sad, as opposed to gruinaid editorialising then our electoral system is open to some of the same abuses the US one was.

Would the AEC like vote harvesting, privately funded ‘drop boxes” for votes and other ‘fortifying” measures?

What could possibly drive people to not trust the spastic mongloids in government after 2 years of lockdowns, mandatory medical experimentation and still running never to be repealed emergency acts??

That was a block quote fail of mine Kneel.
Some of after “god bless you” were my words in answer to you.

Kneel, my “plan of attack” was not my plan.
it was what the right wing people of the world understood what needed to be done in the face of tyranny.
The most peaceful way is to disobey it.

Me mentioning this gave KD kittens.
Right at the start.

For a century of dawn services had past where , according to KD, people were using diggers to promote themselves and promote their own politics by turning up to them.
Well, when told we could not do this anymore by tyrants, disobeying those tyrants was, according to KD, a dispicable act of self promotion, and using diggers to promote oneself.
You can see how easily the Vicplod could have been brainwashed into firing on unarmed citizens.

However disobedience is still the peaceful key.
Are you going to have a booster?
Are you going to wear a mask?

We’ve had these arguments to death here.
By disobeying you lose somethings short term
By obeying you’ll lose everything including your life and the lives of others who have not submitted.

Sounds overdramatic, but is it?
No fucking way.
And that’s why we must call out the people here with no political conviction other than to want to belong to a club.
A club they don’t actually belong to.
Political conservatism and right wing convictions.
Their just here for the country club membership, as they see it.

Everyone on the conservative side of politics knows that if you took out the no hopers looking to differentiate themselves from the rabble by claiming membership of the percieved right wing conservative country club, you’d halve the conservative vote.
That’s why the common folk (which they are anyway) are so despised, like truck drivers.
Sanchos is an open book.

That’s why he’ll never give you his political take on what’s going on now.
Nor will any member of the little gang of sneerers.
Like Never Trumpers, they aren’t about promoting right wing policy, they are about who belongs in what club, and who are the officials.
In essence, like never trumpers they are left wing.

We used to see them give the game away by never thinking of the overall benefit a politician might bring, but whether he had manners, spoke well, and wore the right tie.
They never found anyone who came up to their standards and therefore could absolve themselves of any allegiences and carry on.
They’ll also talk as if observing everything from the sidelines as if nothing will effect them.

“That was a block quote fail of mine Kneel.
Some of after “god bless you” were my words in answer to you.”

OK – not what you initially said, and obviously what I took exception to, but OK, people make mistakes.

“… a person of right wing conviction…”

Right and left no longer has any meaning – it’s authoritarian vs libertarian, that is all.
The former keep increasing laws, rules, regulations etc.
The latter reduce same.
We have no (small “l”) libertarian party – certainly not LNP.
We need to reduce and restrict government power – period.
We need to make such power as they do have more local – closer to those it affects, and with many less voters to woo. More variations, sure – but you can vote with your feet, can’t you? Imagine that – free market, de-regulated government. Hey, if it’s good for everything else, why not government, eh?

I’ll guess that the outsiders will only be on today if they have agreed to push the globalist Liberal party and bag labor.
So it would be unwatchable.
When the MSM goes against Albo, and you accept that these big corporation media are globalist, then you know they are very happy with the job Sco Mo is doing.
That being a globalist tyrant who still won’t let the unjabbed leave the country PRIOR TO AN ELECTION.

There’s a great deal of money and other material benefits involved as well.

I disagree.
If the right are increasing laws, crushing freedom and increasing the size of gov, etc, they aren’t right wing.
But I would argue right and left wing still exist and it’s very important to make the left (which includes the Liberal party) own what is happening.
Because it isn’t the free market, free speech, individualist right doing it.

In Underlying Health Problems news:

Covid China: Elderly deaths contradict Shanghai figures

Dozens of elderly patients at a hospital in Shanghai have died after contracting Covid-19, but official government figures claim no deaths in the city have been caused by the disease since 2020.

The BBC has spoken to a hospital manager and had access to correspondence sent to relatives of patients who’ve died during the Omicron outbreak that is sweeping through China’s biggest city.

We’ve also had access to official documents that suggest at least 27 patients from a single hospital, who weren’t vaccinated, have died from what it called “underlying health problems”.

China not being straight up on WuFlu?
Well, bugger me down dead…

I’m roaring laughing at the federal government wymmymses bureaucrats who this week couldn’t say what a woman is because they’re terrified of accidentally transgressing the current leftard tribal definition, which now must include men who feel like wymmymses.

What a shit show. We pay their salaries and give them power over us. Disgraceful.

Where do capped mortgage rates and a 15% mining tax sit on the spectrum of “light touch” conservatism?

We need to make such power as they do have more local – closer to those it affects, and with many less voters to woo.

The history of Australia (by which I mean the nation established as a federation in 1901) has been a history of progressively greater centralisation of power in Canberra at the expense of the states. If there was one upside to the covid drama (apart from a pause in the population ponzi) it was the rediscovery of the remaining powers of state sovereignty, although the premiers wielded it for evil purposes (tongue only slightly in cheek there). If the momentum gained could be used to address the absurd vertical fiscal imbalance of our revenue system we might go some way to dismantling the Canberra leviathan and devolving power to state parliaments more answerable to their electorates (in theory anyway!). It’s not yet “live free or die” but it would be a huge step in the right direction. And probably for that reason our moribund state politicians will not pursue it.

Not for a few of them. Not that I think it matters either way – remember the golden rule, no votes in blackfella issues.

“I disagree.”

Fair enough. Somewhat nomenclatural I suppose… I certainly agree that the authoritarians are in charge on both left and right, hence my statement that left v right is no longer significant. And I think that pointing this out and making it the most significant difference has a better chance of changing that dominance. Maybe. Worth a try, I thought.

How do you* feel about a bill of rights? Not positive rights (ie, “citizens have the right to…”), but negative rights (ie “government shall not…”) in the constitution?

How do you* feel about reversing the “all not given to states is federal”, so that federal government has specified role and all else is state based, along with similar state and local?

For me, that would introduce some diversity and competition in government – a market for governance if you will. Probably a bit “messy”, but I think better overall. And it wouldn’t need to be “all or nothing” – happy to debate what goes where, and what exceptions might be beneficial. It would be a rather big set of changes after all…

* Not just Struth – everyone who cares to have a say.

Invading a neighbouring country because of Marxist and Tsarist land grabs.

Et tu, dot? This is your mouth-breather take? Dude. Stop watching TYT.

“How dare the Ukes use psychological warfare on the Gopniks, they should instantly surrender and agree to all of Putin’s war aims, psych. warfare is despicable, unlike an invasion, which is only being fought against the globalists”

“Also, borders and cultural homogeneity matter, globalists”

??? You’re not supposed to drink the bong water.

The “justification” for Russia to invade Ukraine makes as much sense as NATO declaring it has a right to annex Belarus and partition it out of existence.

Okay, glad you made that clear. Now why not engage with what I wrote. War is hell, that’s no secret. But there are degrees of fucked-upness that gives you some insight into the kinds of people you’re being asked to cry a river over.

And when the rather fucked-up converges with American-supplied technology…oh, wait a bit. That seems to happen all the time.

Twatter red pilling; going to issue lots of shares for reduced price, below Elon’s offer. But there is nothing to stop Elon buying these; stopping him is illegal unless they mandate the offer is for existing shareholders in proportion to heir existing holdings, except Elon, which is illegal. This is not a normal hostile takeover.

I understand why the Russkies did what they did. I’m not convinced it was the best solution. On the other hand, perhaps it was inevitable. The Nulands and McCains instilled some kind of insanity into the Ukrainian leadership class. When I read that Zelensky turned down Scholz’s suggestion to promise never to join NATO in return for whatever*, I realised how truly mental these people are.

*can’t remember, it was something that perhaps could have prevented war. Not really important what it was. Point is that the Ukrainian leadership was gunning for NATO membership, which is just bananas

RD at 8.25:

At the end of the day who are these fools. Dole isn’t meant to be pleasant. Part of the reason for the subsistance level is to encourage you to get a job. We could be like most of the world getting nothing or food stamps.

Pure entitlement, as mentioned earlier, and a belief that their expected standard of living – brought to that level by generations of working people – is the norm all the way around the planet.

I’m warming to the idea of food stamps. No tattoo stamps. No ice stamps. No smartphone stamps. No durry stamps. No Woodstock can stamps (sorry bespoke). No makeup stamps. No Uber stamps.

And – said food stamps should be in a coupon booklet headed:

The Australian Government is providing you with the necessities of life, until you can provide for yourself.
