I’m still trying to work out how I could have stopped my family being inoculated. I was the very last one.
– let down their car tyres
– threaten them
– tie them down
– manipulate and guilt trip them
– refuse to ever see them again/disinherit them

Move to a different country, get a new family. Australian’s are scared and compliant sheep.

Tomorrow it’s plant shopping. I have a list of tropical nurseries in and around Darwin, but have to make sure what I buy can tolerate down to 8F (possibly higher in the shadehouse).

Looking at orchids, bromeliads, begonias, palms and ixoras, amongst others. I snuck two collapsible crates into the back of the car before we left. Always Be Prepared. ?

Don’t be tempted by a lipstick palm, they won’t grow anywhere south of Darwin or Cairns, unless you have a temperature controlled conservatory.

I’m aware of the alluring lipstick palm. I have seen a couple growing at Coffs, but that’s really marginal.

I’m thinking more about some of the smaller, clumping varieties. I have managed to grow foxtails and fishtails at my old Sydney houses, despite frost, and I have a couple of foxtails in my present garden. What the sand lacks in nutrient, it makes up in latent heat.

Also going to look at heliconias.

Human nature is full of riddles; . . . one of those riddles is: how is it that people who have been crushed by the sheer weight of slavery and cast to the bottom of the pit can nevertheless find strength in themselves to rise up and free themselves first in spirit and then in body while those who soar unhampered over the peaks of freedom suddenly lose the taste of freedom, lose the will to defend it, and, hopelessly confused and lost, almost begin to crave slavery?’

What a completely apt description of western society today! It is a conundrum I can’t possibly understand.

Russian Navy’s oldest submarine to reenter service after repairs (12 May)

The Russian Navy is working to complete repairs to the Alrosa this week, sending it to the Bay of Kilen for final tests to ensure there are no faults with the design before it reenters the Black Sea fleet, according to Russian officials. Crew members are also expected to complete tests before being given the green light to man the Soviet-era submarine.

The submarine was built shortly before the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991 as part of the experimental Project 877, a training ship class that began in the 1970s. After the Soviet Union collapsed, the Alrosa became Russia’s only combat-fit submarine to be used in the Black Sea.

The ship was designed to move via waterjet engines rather than by propeller propulsion to ensure stealth as it traveled underwater, earning the nickname “black holes” worldwide.

They can’t get ships or subs through the Bosphorus since Turkey has closed it to naval vessels, so you can see why they might be keen to get this one back into service. Not sure the submariners would be so keen though.

Roberts-Smith’s friend denies weapons planted on Afghans’ bodies to conceal murders
By Michaela Whitbourn
May 12, 2022 — 1.10pm

A friend and former comrade of war veteran Ben Roberts-Smith has denied soldiers in their patrol planted objects on the bodies of Afghan prisoners to disguise unlawful killings as legitimate battlefield encounters.

The former Special Air Service Soldier, dubbed Person 11, was called by Roberts-Smith’s lawyers to give evidence in the decorated former soldier’s defamation case against The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Canberra Times.

He has rejected allegations he shot a handcuffed Afghan prisoner in the village of Darwan in 2012 after Roberts-Smith, his patrol commander, kicked the man off a cliff. The rules of engagement that bound the SAS provided that prisoners could not be killed.

Person 11, whose identity cannot be revealed for national security reasons, has also rejected an allegation his patrol planted a radio on the Afghan man’s body to make him appear to be a Taliban “spotter” relaying the movements of coalition forces to insurgents.

Person 11 and Roberts-Smith have told the Federal Court the man was a legitimate target acting suspiciously in a cornfield before they made the decision to shoot at him.

Afghan witnesses called by the newspapers to give evidence in the case have said the man was a farmer called Ali Jan who was not connected to the Taliban, while a former soldier dubbed Person 4 told the court the man was unarmed and handcuffed at the time he was kicked off a cliff and shot.

Under cross-examination by the newspapers’ barrister, Nicholas Owens, SC, on Thursday, Person 11 was asked whether either Roberts-Smith or another soldier dubbed Person 35 told soldiers in a training exercise that “throwdown weapons” could be placed on Afghans’ bodies and photographed as evidence they were killed in battle.

“I disagree with that, Mr Owens,” Person 11 said.

“It is correct, isn’t it, that in 2012 you understood that at least one meaning of the word throwdown was a weapon or item that the SAS carried so it could be placed onto the body of a dead Afghan killed in unlawful or unclear circumstances so that the body would appear to have been legitimately engaged?” Owens asked.

“No, Mr Owens,” Person 11 replied.

“It’s the fact, isn’t it, that in 2012 members of your patrol carried weapons and other items with them to place them on the body of dead Afghans so they could be photographed?” Owens asked.

“That’s not true, Mr Owens,” Person 11 said. He said it was “ridiculous to think” that soldiers who were already carrying 30 to 40 kilograms of equipment would weigh themselves down with other objects.

“In 2012 your patrol used throwdowns not just to avoid scrutiny from Afghan officials in relation to legitimate kills but to conceal illegitimate kills as well,” Owens suggested.

“I reject that, Mr Owens,” Person 11 said.

Roberts-Smith is suing the newspapers for defamation over a series of stories in 2018 that he says portray him as a war criminal who was involved in the unlawful killing of Afghan prisoners. He has told the court any killings were carried out lawfully in the heat of battle.

The newspapers are seeking to rely on a defence of truth and allege Roberts-Smith was involved in six unlawful killings, including the execution of the man at Darwan.

Earlier on Thursday, Person 11 was asked about other alleged killings involving Roberts-Smith. He said he did not see Roberts-Smith direct an Afghan soldier, via an interpreter, to get one of his men to shoot an Afghan prisoner.

He also did not remember a mission during which Roberts-Smith allegedly shot an adolescent, and was not aware of him killing anyone during that mission.

The trial continues.

I’m still trying to work out how I could have stopped my family being inoculated.

You couldn’t. None of us could.

My despair is that most of my immediate family initially agreed with our decision. Daughter, who rarely agrees with anything I say, nevertheless was initially persuaded by her naturopath who was appalled by the vaccines. But she eventually succumbed in order to enjoy her lifestyle. Grandaughter was afraid she would have been banned from school (she was right), and grandson was absolutely opposed to the jab (he has a great bullshit detector), but then found he would be banned from the pub! Originally, the only really compliant one was son-in-law, who works in a very senior position in a very large corporation which mandated the vaccine from the beginning. But, in any case, being a corporate being, he agreed with their stance.

As a result, all of them are double vaccinated. Fortunately, only daughter and son-in-law consented to boosters. Maybe the grandchildren, with youth further cellular development, can expel the spike from their bodies. You can only hope.

monty facetiously and dishonestly asked about the wage equilibrium.

The equilibrium itself doesn’t matter. It can change. Some markets operate in states of dynamic equilibria or disequilibria. What matters is if the market is never permitted to achieve equilibrium.

The market has not been able to clear for decades. This is evidenced by the unemployment rate(s).

When you add in discouraged workers, non marginal attachments and the participation rate to the unemployment rate – it is significantly above a frictional unemployment rate.

Wage regulation and occupational licensing are the primary root causes of this devestating inequity; welfare traps also incentivise unemployment.

The beneficiaries of such regulations are unions as diverse as the AMA to the PSA and SDA or even the CFMMEU.

Sorry Delta but that was the point I was making, if your objection included ‘experimental gene therapy that might kill me’ then the tyranny argument seems to have played second fiddle ie if you didn’t think it was ‘untested experimental gene therapy’ you might well have been vaccinated.

I Don’t Know If I Would’ve Survived Childhood Without Alcoholism

“The first time I got drunk it was a revelation,” Blair shared in an excerpt obtained by the magazine. “I always liked Passover. As I took small sips of the Manischewitz I was allowed throughout the seder a light flooded through me, filling me up with the warmth of God. But the year I was seven, when we basically had Manischewitz on tap and no one was paying attention to my consumption level, I put it together: the feeling was not God but fermentation.”

It is good when people don’t go straight for the off the shelf posture with regards to these things. When the answer to “why did you do it” is along the lines of “because I wanted to” rather than some social worker coached response.

Greens make wild election promise on Australia’s border security
Courtney GouldNCA NewsWire
Thu, 12 May 2022 4:56PM

Australia’s border law enforcement agency would be broken up under a proposal by the Greens to abolish Border Force.

The bold plan would see the agency’s responsibilities handed to a re-established customs agency, police and the military.

Unveiling his suite of immigration policies standing outside a pre-poll booth in Melbourne on Thursday, leader Adam Bandt and spokesman Nick McKim said the party wanted to push for a “more compassionate framework for refugees”.

Additionally, the Greens would capitalise on a hung parliament to push to end offshore detention and boat turnbacks.

It would also establish a royal commission into offshore detention.

The proposal could result in a messy negotiation with Labor, which has vowed to scrap temporary protection visas, but supports boat turnbacks and offshore detention.

“It will mean that refugees no longer get treated as pawns; we will treat them as we should, that is, as human beings treated with compassion, with dignity and respect,” Senator McKim said.

“Those things, of course, are core Australian values. For too long we’ve treated refugees differently than we treat other humans and that has to end.”

The Greens will also campaign for a lift in Australia’s humanitarian intake from 50,000 places a year, up from 13,755.

A new agency called the Australian Maritime Service would be established to protect our coastlines, oceans, environment and economic activity. It would also search and rescue people in trouble in Australia’s waters.

Top Ender, I have done a control F search for your travel insurance query and see that it is for the US. We always take medical insurance for trips to the US, and it is not too expensive, as we self-insure a for always for loss of luggage, delayed and missed flights etc. I have high blood pressure and now since breaking my foot a stupid DVT which should not be recurrent, but they will charge for it. Hairy has numerous serious co-morbidites to do with heart, DVT’s, cancer etc, and his rate is always higher than mine even though I am ten years older.

It is essential to have such insurance for the US, as you know, and fairly important for other places too as airlines may insist on it especially after Covid; some require full Covid insurance and we haven’t tested out the cost of this yet for our US trip in October. However, we have not taken out medical insurance for the UK trip, as we don’t intend flying out of Britain this time, and the NHS will cover emergencies by arrangement with Medicare, and also, we are both British passport holders.

In the past we have also taken a high upfront co-payment for medical insurance, because we are really only worried about the major issues and emergencies – for instance in Alaska we were told it would be $180K to medically fly anyone down to Seattle for major treatment before any other costs were even incurred. Hence good insurance makes sense there. For smaller amounts, for example, doctor’s surgery visits that come under the co-payment amount we just pay up. Like car insurance.

I can’t recall the name of the company we use – it is one of the cheap ones that advertise and if the small print suits us then we use them. We have platinum credit cards and Amex, but haven’t even investigated the ‘travel insurance’ on these, as we have been told it is layered with many conditions. Too much bother and leaves you open to various failures in cover.

Russia’s economy has plunged into its worst crisis for almost three decades as the country is battered by Western sanctions, a leaked copy of the Kremlin’s own forecasts shows.

The Russian finance ministry is predicting a 12 per cent collapse in GDP this year, the biggest contraction since 1994 when it was shifting towards capitalism under Boris Yeltsin, the first post-Soviet president.

Rennick doing the hard yards to tell us what we were injected with.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANzK3HTQvvs

The mRNA integrity of the Pfizer jab varied between 55% and 81%, and the efficacy tends to vary in line with that.
TGA honcho reckons no evidence of long-lasting spike, while studies from overseas (via McCullough) are finding it a year after vaccination (but doesn’t say if that is in people who never had covid).

You know the leading theory on how Omicron mutated is that an alpha strain crossed the species barrier (more like a species speedbump, LOL) into *mice* and then many months later crossed back, and the time it spent in mice mellowed it. So we could have had an initial quarantine and research period, deployed the Ivermectin for treatment, told Gates to sod off and not funded a single vaccine, waited for 18months, and the mice would have saved us anyway.
Instead we’ve had vaccines which cause a year-long hazard of clotting when the batch *is* efficacious, and causes a false sense of security when the mRNA is degraded to low integrity in the other batches.
The word “disaster” just doesn’t seem enough.

Way back when, I had a manager, who had been an officer in the British Army. I learned a lot from him, but the chief skill was to cultivate an atmosphere of icy politeness, when dealing with fools.

The Memsahib and I are at a certain Perth hospital, She has an appointment, and wants to know where I can wait for her. The clerk at the reception desk was less then helpful.

“And you are?”

“Defacto husband of thirty five years.”

“Hospital regulations state that you’ll have to wait on the ground floor. The lift is over there.”

“Allow me to point out, that there is a sign on the wall, designating a waiting room. I do presume that that is where people can wait for those having a consultation?’

“Hospital regulations state that you’ll have to wait on the ground floor. The lift is over there.”

“Most certainly, but allow me to commend to you, the old proverb that “Regulations are for the guidance of wise men, and the blind obedience of fools..”

How did is work it out.

If musk fell under a bus, I estimate the stock would fall to 35.
54.20 – 35 = 19.20

54.20 – 45 = 9.2

9.20/ 19.20 = 48% it doesn’t go through. I think my odds math is correct.

And, in diamond news:

An egg-sized white diamond called The Rock, billed as the largest of its kind to go up for auction, sold on Wednesday for more than 21.6 million Swiss francs ($31.5 million).
Key points:

The amount paid for The Rock was at the lower end of the estimated range
An unspecified buyer purchased the diamond
At the same auction, a 205.1 carat diamond sold for $20.7 million

The 228-carat pear-shaped G-Colour stone, with its platinum pendant mounting, has a gross weight of 61.3 grams and dimensions of 5.4 centimetres by 3.1 centimetres — making it about the size of a medium hen’s egg.

G-Colour is not the highest grade, but fourth on the letter rung below the top-grade D-Colour diamonds.

The price, which included fees, is considered at the low end of the expected range — the pre-auction estimate was between 19 million and 30 million francs.

An unspecified private buyer acquired The Rock.

Hmmm – looks like the billionaire class are pulling their horns in a bit.

Then again:

Also going under the hammer on Wednesday was the “Red Cross” diamond, a 205.1-carat fancy yellow stone, which fetched nearly 14.2 million francs ($20.7 million), double the pre-sale estimate.

From the pictures, the latter is much more attractive.

The Hun editorial yesterday is quite a piece of logic wizardry.

Starting with a story of a new beaut vaccine from the Doherty institute that’s a catch all for covid, heading on to the record breaking covid infections and deaths currently, praising our worlds best vaccination rate and finally telling the reader that vaccines have allowed us to return to near normal life.

An editor with long covid brain fog.

The FDA closed a large infant formula plant as a “precaution” after several infants suffered illness and/or death – but the bacteria that did the harm was not found in the product. Incompetence or another piece of the left’s disintegration agendum?

From what I have read, it sounds like a variation of our own Slug-gate. Maybe a competitor, or someone in the swamp who had it in for them. Anyway, it has become so serious that Biden is meeting with manufacturers about it on Thursday (US time).

In a country as large and diverse – in a good way – as the US, significant shortages of baby formula takes some doing.

There is a shortage of baby formula in the United States. Several supermarkets have run out of baby food. The out-of-stock rate is over 40%. How does America plan to feed its babies?
WION

Illegal migrants first to get ‘pallets’ of hard-to-find baby formula

The nationwide shortage of baby formula that has sent mothers desperately rushing from store to store has evaded one lucky group: illegal immigrants detained by Border Patrol.

According to videos posted by a Florida lawmaker, the Biden administration has been shipping “pallets” of baby formula to migrant holding facilities.

“They are sending pallets, pallets of baby formula to the border,” said Republican Rep. Kat Cammack in one of two online postings yesterday. “Meanwhile, in our own district at home, we cannot find baby formula,” she added, holding a photo of empty shelves where the formula would be.

Cammack said that a border agent sent her photographs of the deliveries, and she posted one online.

“They’re receiving pallets and more pallets of baby formula at the border,” she said holding one of the photos showing both Advantage brand formula and Gogo Squeez applesauce. “This was taken at Ursula processing facility [in McAllen, Texas] where thousands are being housed and processed and then released,” said Cammack.

She said the agent told her: “‘Kat, you would not believe the shipment I just brought in.’ He has been a border patrol agent for 30 years and he has never seen anything quite like this. He is a grandfather and he is saying that his own children can’t get baby formula.”

Kat Cammack
@Kat_Cammack

The first photo is from this morning at the Ursula Processing Center at the U.S. border. Shelves and pallets packed with baby formula.

The second is from a shelf right here at home. Formula is scarce.

This is what America last looks like.

I’ve never seen anyone say this but it fits the philosophy of the green progressives. They’ve been making abortion a religious sacrament, spewing propaganda that having babies destroys the planet and pushing puberty blockers onto young girls and boys. So why not make it hard for mothers by artificially restricting baby formula?

The baby formula crisis in the US is a perfect example of the left green precautionary principle coupled to social media mummy scares and public agencies (FDA) reacting to reputation risk rather than science.
Companies have no choice but to recall product under this pressure. Tests for bacteria in factories should go hand in hand with tests for the same in the households that the unfortunate infants lived.
Many deadly strains of bacteria are common in the general community but only become a problem when a vector for infection is open.
Chooks and ducks commonly carry salmonella but not after proper storage and cooking.

It brings something else to mind – bricks. Remember when the brilliant experts decided to lockdown brickworks as well as the rest of manufacturing during the Delta b/s? (Not aluminium, thank goodness – that would have wrecked the works). There is now a huge delay in brick manufacture which is affecting the building industry. Closing down a brickworks isn’t as simple as the Mongs (tee hee) think, the start up is the killer.

Martin Geddes makes Struth’s point.

Beyond Babylon
The struggle against persecution to establish a new society

To only provide is to be “all farmer, and no soldier”; that’s not good enough when the Babylonian enemy defines society as an eternal holy war. The end state of Babylon is a slave master class and a slave class; transhumanism is only the latest edition. We have to actively protect one another when Babylon turns up and persecutes those who do the right thing on behalf of all humanity.

For Babylon always descends into a culture of human sacrifice: that’s the inevitable end state of promoting pride and self-interest. This moral catastrophe begins when we assume it’s someone else’s job to make a sacrifice in order for our own conscience to be clear. Getting beyond Babylon is a process that makes doing the wrong thing ever more costly, and doing the right thing ever less painful.

The first step is to look after the dissidents and defectors, because others will observe their fate, and follow (or not) depending on how they are treated. That’s not something that the Scientific Materialists or Conservatish Christinots are willing to do, for they are just two pillars that keep Babylon running. If you aren’t being persecuted by Babylon for resisting their culture of “sacrifice of others for benefit to self”, then you’re probably not doing it right…

The weirdest thing is seeing people out here in the mulga wearing masks. Do they imagine covid is spread by marsupials and gum trees?

One on the Kakadu sunset tour amazed me so much I laughed out loud, causing a big pinch from the Beloved. An asian woman with a silky contrivance hanging from her ears and across her face like something from a harem. Utterly useless in any medical sense, but a differentiation from the rest of her party who wore the conventional sort.

And the Beloved actually made someone cry the other day. He said to another mask wearer that all the masking precautions were bullshit. When challenged by “but think of the dead”, he replied “but think of the ruined”. Boo hoo.

Comment on Michael Smith News – Tony Abbott’s video message on Katherine Deves

seeker of truth said…

Further info on Trevor Sofield, the man who tried to speak to ScoMo He also advised Fiji as to how better to attract Chinese tourists –

“…On the flipside, things that received the biggest amount of negative feedbacks and were deemed to be the greatest barriers in Fiji for Chinese tourists were food and the language barrier.

After making his recommendations and analyses on the Chinese visitor market, Australian tourism professor Trevor Sofield on Thursday revealed the results of his snapshot exit survey which he conducted on a total of 115 mainland tourists.

Seventy-six per cent of those surveyed said the lack of Chinese language was the worst part of their trip to Fiji, followed closely by no Chinese food (72 per cent).

Other complaints around the 50 per cent mark were no or expensive internet/wifi access, lack of items in room and hotel/resort/restaurant service too slow.

Other negativities included not enough activities at night, airport procedures too slow, shopping not good, having the same food at the hotel everyday, inadequate car hire and local transport.
Un-metered taxis, too many mosquitoes and too soft beds also made the list.

According to Dr Sofield, Chinese sensitivities have to be paid attention to and understood to begin with, to be able to have a better hold of such situations and avoid disappointments.

He said the language barrier was an obvious hiccup in the plan and if not addressed, could potentially lead to disappointing outcomes.

“The lack of signage, instructions and mandarin-speaking personnel, while inconvenient for the traveller, could also be seen in a more insulting light, to the individual and even more grave, to China,” he said.

Dr Sofield gave the example of Maldives, which began targeting the Chinese traveller after their tourism industry began feeling the effects of the global financial crisis.

From less than 2000 visitors from China in 2008 to 64,000 the following year, and in September this year, had passed the 130,000 mark, expecting to cross 180,000 visitors by the year’s end….”

https://fijisun.com.fj/2011/11/11/survey-shows-language-food-need/

I’d say Mr Sofield is a bit of a suck up to China.

No doubt the daigu have been at work all the time, calli, including before the shortages. But, this seems to be about a confluence of supply chain and labour issues due to COVID policies, with a bit of panic buying thrown in.

Coming up to the mid-terms, explaining why the shortage of baby food is due to Vladimir Putin doesn’t look like a winning strategy.

Brilliant Satire Contrasts National Priorities of Joe Biden

When the satire hits the central nerve of accuracy….

Starving American Babies Disguise Selves As Ukrainian Soldiers In Hopes Of Getting $40 Billion In Federal Aid

KYIV—This Wednesday, reports poured in that thousands of babies have been smuggling themselves into Ukraine dressed as Ukrainian soldiers. The refugee infants say they are seeking leftovers from the federal aid Biden has sent to the war-torn country.

“Waah waah waaaaah!” Baby translators at the border were able to render one newborn’s helpless wails into English for reporters. “This baby says he’s a battle-hardened Ukrainian commando and he wants some formula.”

Other babies at the border concurred, with the oldest baby speaking for the group through a baby translator. “We trust our leaders to prioritize aid distribution well, as they did with billions to promote worldwide gender equity, billions in weapons as a going-away present for the Taliban in Afghanistan, or this breathtaking act of generosity amid America’s most severe recession in years.”

The baby spokesperson admitted that the choice to leave America was difficult, but that they knew it was the right choice. “It was hard to leave our families, but when Biden made it clear that Ukraine was the place to go for help, we didn’t ask questions!”

At publishing time, Biden celebrated that U.S. families now rid of burdensome babies could afford to contribute more in taxes to repay trillions for “Build Back Better” infrastructure spending. When asked about helping babies directly, he said “Best I can do is federal funding for abortion.”

Meanwhile – Senator Rand Paul Blocks Fast-Track Senate Vote for $40 Billion Additional Ukraine Funding

Senator Rand Paul has blocked a fast-track senate vote on the additional $40 billion funding package created by Joe Biden and House Democrats. Both Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell approved a fast-track vote; however, senator Rand Paul (KY) stood defiant against their effort.

Despite the high-profile pressure from the two Senate leaders, Rand Paul refused to move and that means the Senate will have to take procedural steps to overcome his objection, which could take several days. “My oath of office is the US constitution not to any foreign nation and no matter how sympathetic the cause, my oath of office is to the national security of the United States of America,” Paul said in his remarks before objecting to moving to swift passage of the bill. “We cannot save Ukraine by dooming the US economy.” WATCH:

The $40 billion supplemental spending bill for Ukraine is more than the total military budget of Russia. The combined Ukraine aid packages now exceed $60 billion, more than the entire budget for the U.S. Dept of Homeland Security including border protection.

Rand Paul is on the right side of history with his position, and the overwhelming majority of Americans agree with him. However, the opinion of the people is irrelevant to the Senate. Even democrat Senator Chuck Schumer seemed to admit this point when he said Rand Paul’s position “was not the opinion of the overwhelming majority here,” meaning in the senate. Schumer would have used other terms if he thought the American people agreed with him. They don’t, and he knows it.
