Canada has implemented new restrictions on agriculture, under the banner of fighting climate change. Farmers argue this would be similar to the same fertilizer ban implemented in the Netherlands, which is predicted to force many farms out of business. And similar to the Netherlands, protests in Canada are already brewing. Crossroads with JOSHUA PHILIPP

NZ is trying the same scam, now that we have a communist fed, no doubt we are next cab off the rank

It’s not about taxing boomers more.
If you tax income earners less, they spend & invest more.
If you tax unproductive assets more, the capital becomes a lot more productive.
This is where the real wealth gap is generated.
Not some household earning 400k.
Sure they’re part of the 1-2%.
It’s not about that anymore.
It’s about tax laws that benefit the top 0.5% & few others.

Free range chickens must nervously look at the sky for predatory hawks all the time.
We always know when an eagle or a hawk is circling – the chooks dash into their chicken coop!
How they know – when their heads are always down pecking at grass, insects etc – I can’t imagine.

One giveaway are squawks from magpies and even noisy miners who will give chase to the predators in their domains.

People might be beginning to rankle at governments farming out decisions to others rather than think (and take responsibility) themselves.

We might as well vote in the ‘experts’ and do away with politicians altogether.

If they don’t want to take on responsibility, they should stay on the backbench.

Not at all. I haven’t viewed Russia as an enemy since 1991. I don’t see any real ‘Western’ interest involved in what is a regional conflict between two powers that were united a generation ago.

Ditto Dover. I visited Russia during the glasnost/perestoika upheaval.

It was a real thrill as our plane approached “mother Russia”, and the commonality of our cultural heritage was clear in the treasures the communist regime amazingly preserved – the Armoury of the Kremlin, with the faberge treasures etc, the magical palace of Catherine the Great and the treasures of the Hermitage in Petersburg. But I also loved almost all the ordinary Russians I met – big hearted people who knew by the 1980s that they had been deceived by past regimes.

I am not attempting to erase the atrocities that occurred by Russians upon Russians. The Soviet experiment is a lesson to us all. But they are not an evil people. The debacle occurring in Ukraine is a geopolitical struggle in which there are no angels at the highest level on either side.

You’d think the might’ve learned something from their own history, but no. Progs never learn, they just edit out the history bits they don’t like.

The plant diseases that delivered the potato famine are not gone and still evolving.

These imbeciles who think you can cut back agriculture to accomodate climate change have no concept that weather, pest and disease shocks are a certainty in given production zones most years.

It takes a decade to breed resistance into plants and quick fixes like chemicals are also subject to resistance pressure.

Put enough cost and risk into production and you will have a disaster in a year when multiple failures coincide. Better dead than fed to save the world.

A disturbing little side note on monkeypox.

A new research paper on 528 monkeypox cases in 16 countries lays out that 98% of the people infected were gay or bisexual men, 75% of them were white, and 41% had HIV. No women were among the cases, and 95% of cases were thought to be linked to sexual transmission.

It appears that blokes who have AIDs are not only rooting a lot of other chaps, but doing so without taking precautions.

I don’t find it disturbing at all. It is to be expected. Just one of the reasons I think homos should not be in positions of power. They have no control whatsoever. Poor decision makers.

Why do homosexuals need constant validation of their existence?
Because they know there is something wrong with their lifestyle (see monkeypox man anove) and getting everyone to ‘valididate’ them will somehow make it right?

Apparently if we don’t validate them we are responsible for the mental illness and suicide that often accompanies homosexuality, particulary among the young.

..
Under this logic, the UK should immediately invade half the world.
Empire is over.
Either you support the rights of independent nations to exist with border integrity or you don’t.
If Russia wanted some Ukrainian territory it could have negotiated with Ukraine for it and paid them the going price for such if Ukraine agreed. The going price being that which Ukraine was willing to sell for.
That’s called the rule of law. Which if it is to exist for us must also exist between nation states.

Reducing sugar consumption to achieve climate and sustainability goals (25 Jul)

Reducing sugar consumption would have important benefits in the fight against climate change, as well as in the recovery from the health and economic crises associated with the coronavirus pandemic. This is the conclusion of a study by the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (ICTA-UAB) that analyses the potential climate and sustainability co-benefits of reducing sugar consumption through redirecting existing sugar cropland to alternative uses.

Achieving this reduction in sugar consumption would likely involve a similar approach that has helped the EU considerably reduce its tobacco consumption over the past decades: education and policies aimed at behavioral change, with a serious role for taxation.

Okaaay, not eating sugar will fight climate change and save us from heinous bat crud. And it’s as bad as tobacco. Sure. Believe it implicitly. At least they didn’t say it’s racist, sexist and homophobic too.

If Australia was at war with NZ tomorrow, I would support Australia. Australia is my home.

I ask this in all seriousness, Arky.
Hundreds of thousands of Russian POWs were repatriated after WW2, straight into the Gulag system simply on the rational that they were traitors, based on the fact that they allowed themselves to be taken alive.

Do you think it was a good idea for them to fight for ‘Mother Russia’ simply because it was their ‘home’? Was it to their benefit, or detriment? Did their system deserve their patriotic allegiance?

A country is more than just the dirt it sits on. My patriotism is not blind, nor is it unconditional.

One might argue about the lesser of two evils when conflict breaks out, but that is to be judged on a case by case basis. After what I’ve seen here in the last three years, I’d not longer swear to defend Australia against all enemies (as dictated by our politicians). I might very well find myself fighting ‘Tories’.

If you tax unproductive assets more, the capital becomes a lot more productive.

The government, in its infinite magnitude has gone hell for leather in the other direction.

A: Because they are flogbags and mongs who dont understand anything.

B: Because inflating land values pulls the lever on rates & stamp duty which keeps the insatiable money hungry maws of the States a little under control. Plus loads of “scarcity” prices for every block they magnanimously allow to be ‘released” being worth so much more.

C: Both.

Its not so much favorable treatment of real estate as they have chosen to stab the crap out of everything else making housing the safest most value holding asset you can own.

Your choices are.
a: Start a business, with a 50% chance of failing and losing your stake, and have the pleasure of monkeypox carriers wanting to secrete their various rules/regulations all over it while taxing you for their “services”.

b: Buy property, pay rates, have it appreciate in value.

A country is more than just the dirt it sits on. My patriotism is not blind, nor is it unconditional.

Apart from the fact that I was born here, as were my children and pretty much all of my family…my patriotism is conditional on a simple fact.

I have been pretty much everywhere on this planet. And this is the best place by a country mile. It has its faults, naturally, but it is the best.

If people’s background is Methodist or similar they might assume drinking, gambling or even dancing are forbidden in Christianity.
I had an ex Methodist neighbour who said so anyhow.
I had the opportunity to chat to an Anabaptist from a particularly obscure sect while travelling recently. He was very shocked to hear we were going to 6pm mass on Saturday and then to the pub.
I laughed and said we were just going to have dinner, with maybe a glass of wine.
We ended up at the RSL instead so managed an evening of real debauchery, drinking and gambling.
He said he wasn’t even allowed to watch TV, though I’m not sure which bible verse covered that prohibition.

Five Libs not to vote for next time:

A call for parliamentarians to mask up against Covid-19 has been largely ignored by the Coalition on the first sitting day.

Prior to the commencement of the 47th parliament, the presiding officers had told MPs, Senators and staffers the use of face masks was “strongly encouraged”.

There was no mask mandate but the directive was clear. If you could not socially distance, cover up.
But come Tuesday morning when MPs and Senators filed into their relevant chambers, a stark difference was clear.

In the House, all Labor and Greens MPs were masked – except when at the despatch box or being sworn in.

But many of the Coalition chose not to wear one.

Darren Chester, Andrew Gee, Karen Andrews, Rowan Ramsey and former Speaker Andrew Wallace were the only Coalition MPs to cover up.

Pressies generally have a high view of the scriptures, which I respect, but they’ll do exegetical somersaults to try and prove that Jesus didn’t intend that wine to be used in communion.

As for the Methodists, many would have no doubt have been shocked to learn that John Wesley was a regular ale drinker all his life. He warned only against consuming “spiritous liquors”, namely gin, the abuse of which was, of course, a grave social problem at the time.

If the Voice representatives are elected by Aborginals will it be on the same election cycle as Federal elections ?

You can guarantee those so elected are going to be more on the left side of politics than the right. If they can delay legislation to consider the consequences for Aboriginals (pretty much most legislation would affect them) then it can hinder the work of the elected parliament. If a Coalition Govt is in power you can guarantee the Voice will do more to hinder their policies than if it were Labor.

Under no circumstances can this be let through.

When it was painted it would have been seen as a terrible thing. The size, colours and shape of the conflagration as depicted would have filled hearts with a sense of appalling destruction.

Now if they went up today that same painting would be able to manifest a sublime warmth and sense of peace. The only thing you would worry about is whether they were able to lock the doors quickly enough.

From the Telegraph….I clearly remember V’landys putting the boot into Israel Folau back in 2019 and stating that Folau had no future in league. This Manly fiasco is blowing up in the faces of V’landys and co and all I can say is good.

“Speaking at the league’s women in league launch on Tuesday, NRL boss Peter V’landys said:

“One of the things I love about Australia is we have this freedom. We don’t live in Russia.

“It doesn’t matter who you are, we are treated equally. We’re not going to back away from that, but at the same time we respect the players’ position.

“Our policy, and it doesn’t matter who you are, I hope they change their minds because that is the beauty of rugby league — it is the greatest game for all.

“In my view, we’re all the same. We should recognise that. However, I do respect the Manly players’ right to freedom.

“This is not a political issue. This is about human beings and respecting watch other. I heard this morning this is a political issue. I don’t believe this is a political issue. I believe it is human beings being human beings.””

1. This is not the moral or legal equivalent of what Israel Folau did. The one-time Wallaby aggressively used his platform to spew bigotry, and continued to do so despite being warned not to.*

o here is the next question, to the players themselves. What the hell is wrong with you blokes that you don’t get it? You are prepared to trash the entire Manly season on this issue alone? In a world where rugby league has led the sporting fraternity in making change, in making it clear that the game really is for all races, all genders, all sexualities, all religions you want to make a stand for …**
For what? Actually, while I’ve got you, can you explain it? And can we have a statement from the seven of you, to make clear your views, so we can all understand?
Your religion? I tell you nothing you don’t know when I say that it seems more than passing weird. Your jerseys, and the stadium you play in, are awash in alcohol and gambling advertisements – much of which pays for your salaries. On this, not a peep out of you, even though most with strong religious views take a dim view of both drinking and gambling.***

Equally, many of the players around you in the football world have had issues of domestic violence, of assaults, of criminal acts – all of which feature high in the list of sins. Still not a peep.****

So we have to ask. Does your religion countenance all of the above, but truly draw the line at showing support for the central idea that while some people are born with red hair and freckles, some with blond hair and vacant looks, some with black hair and darker skin, some are also born straight while others are born gay? That’s it! That is all that Manly wearing the rainbow jersey is saying. To put it in terms that might resonate, “We are all God’s little creatures, and we come in all shapes and sizes, all colours, all sexualities, so isn’t it all just wonderful!”
You are mostly from the wonderful Islander community, one that is beloved in the football community and wider still. Nevertheless, there really are shocking bigots who have attacked that community through nothing other than their own bigotry. How do you not get that your actions disgust most, but please many of the very same bigots who judge people on their race?****

It was put very well by the Kyle and Jackie O newsreader Brooklyn Ross, who is gay, on Tuesday morning.

“I’m not here to put hate on them,” he said. “We do Indigenous round. What if a group of white guys said, ‘Nah, I’m not playing this weekend.’ I want those players kicked out of [NRL]. We shouldn’t accept this.”

Your thoughts, gentlemen? What would you say if the white guys said that?*****

5. And so to the space cadets, who say the whole thing is the moral equivalent of the young Islamic woman who quietly declined to wear the GWS Pride jersey earlier this year. Why didn’t we go hard on her, put her on the front and back pages, nyah, nyah, nyah? (Add poorly spelt abuse, and mix.) Nup.******

As I wrote at the time: “It’s regrettable, disappointing and surprising – given that she is already progressive enough to break down the barriers to be the first Islamic woman to play in the AFLW – and to have played in the Pride round last year, albeit without personally wearing the jersey. But it ain’t remotely Folau in terms of impact, and not a thousandth of it in terms of newsworthiness.”

Ditto this.

Her declining to do so, as a sole operator, as a young woman living at home with devout parents and playing AFLW as an aside to her studies really is regrettable but 1/100 on the scale of impact and newsworthiness.

These blokes, seasoned professionals earning millions between them, and destroying the Manly season because of it, is a tad more impactful and newsworthy, yes?

* He made his statements in his church, it took you and an army of twatter dorks to amplify it to 747 status.
** Not being forced to celebrate cock smokers.
*** Person who hates Christans tries, as usual, to plumb the depths of their deep knowledge of SFA for a ‘gotcha’. its not new, big, or clever, its just being a anti-religious bigot.
**** Did I miss the “purple and black give the missus a slap” round?
***** This is basically “you niggers get back on our plantation where you belong” shit.
****** Yup, the cock that smokes knows its a 2 faced flogbag, so trys a ‘Oh well I did…a little bit.. once.. but now is worse!!!!

Interesting for Albo to be on the wrong side:

Radical climate activists have stormed Parliament House and sung a protested song on the steps of the foyer.

Dozens of young protesters from the Tomorrow Movement crammed on to the marble stairs early on Monday afternoon until police dragged them away.

‘Whose side are you on?’ they repeatedly belted out, appearing to ask politicians whether they represented the people or big business.

‘History will remember, which side are you on? Will you stand with us or the wealthy few?’ they continued.

The sudden, loud protest caused chaos just as police and security were preparing for the arrival of Governor-General David Hurley to open Parliament.

‘Police have stopped young people who have traveled to Canberra from sharing their stories in Parliament. Labor needs to listen to the community and deliver real solutions to climate, jobs and housing crisis,’ the group said.

‘History will remember you, Albo.

‘Our voices weren’t allowed in the building today. But will you listen to the young people who need so much more than weak targets? We need a real plan to address the climate, jobs and housing crisis.

Outside up to 100 more protesters were joined by Greens MPs to demand Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s government do more to tackle climate change.

Greens senator Jordan Steele-John and independents Monique Ryan and David Pocock spoke with the protesters, and Greens senator Peter Whish-Wilson made a speech in support.

Reality is sports are ‘inclusive’ without anyone having to wear any poxy pride shirt.
The crowd in the stadium aren’t segregated by race or religion and certainly not by sexual interests.
For sincere authentic Christians homosexual acts aren’t jumping out of the sin column, now or ever.

Sez it all.

Liberals: stop chasing the Left into the abyss
Rocco Loiacono

There is an old saying that my supervising partner said to me when, in a previous life, I was employed as a junior lawyer in a large national law firm: ‘It’s okay to make a mistake, just don’t make the same mistake twice.’

It’s a saying the Liberal party across the country would be well served to heed. The only problem is, as usual, such sage advice is being ignored, and to its peril. It seems there are none so blind as those that will not see.

The Liberals are now not only out of government federally, but in every state and territory bar two. In New South Wales they govern in minority, and face an election in March next year.

Since February of 2021, the Liberals have been decimated in Western Australia, South Australia, and federally. On each of those occasions, the Liberals tried to out-left the Left and went all-in with the #MeToo approach on ‘health advice’.

It did them no good.

To paraphrase the words of Lady Bracknell in Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of being Earnest: ‘To lose one election may be regarded as a misfortune: to lose more looks like carelessness.’ Yet the Victorian Liberals under Matthew Guy seem determined to stay in opposition by making the same mistakes.

Melbourne was the world’s most locked-down city over 2020 and 2021, yet, throughout all that time, the so-called conservatives in Victoria, just like their federal counterparts, refused to defend fundamental rights and freedoms. They refused even when a pregnant mother was arrested in her house in her pyjamas for posting on social media her opposition to lockdowns, when grandmothers were being harassed in parks, when people were being fired at with rubber bullets. I could go on. Nor do I recall the Liberals in Victoria at any time standing up for common sense against the extreme social agenda of the Andrews government.

Now, refusing to learn the lesson that the climate luvvies will never vote Liberal, and in the face of the worst energy crisis (and, as a result, the highest power prices) in the country, Matthew Guy has vowed to halve emissions by 2030, which goes even further than the federal Labor government’s reduction target.

Announcing a 50 per cent cut in emissions is, yet again, a classic case of trying to appeal to those who will never vote for the Coalition parties, all the while alienating their voting base even more.

The Western Australian Liberals went to the state election last year with more ambitious targets than WA Labor to close coal-fired power stations by 2025, and not offer any challenge to the ‘health advice’ at a time when Premier McGowan locked up 2.5 million people over one positive Covid test. The outcome? Premier Mark McGowan has a huge majority in both houses (the Libs hold only two seats in the lower house), which means he can do as he pleases, and that has included, among other things, ramming through legislation to extend the state of emergency until January 2023.

Victorians want to be rid of Andrews, but that can only be achieved if Matthew Guy learns the lessons of the past and forgets the nonsense that is focus group polling and offers true centre-right product differentiation, with properly thought-through, realistic and costed policies.

The Liberals in NSW, seemingly under the spell of Matt Kean, are sleepwalking toward defeat at the polls in March. But it’s not only Kean’s obsession with renewable energy that will spell trouble for Dominic Perrottet, but his government’s obsession with other Woke causes which, as Mark Latham pointed out as only Mark Latham can, has led to that state having the fastest falling school academic results in the world.

If the Liberals really want to learn some lessons and avoid making the same mistakes, they have a couple of examples they could follow.

First, there is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who, as James Allan wrote in these pages, is brave (in the proper sense of the word). He stood up against the public health know-alls and fear-porn press, refusing to stage a lockdown, and shunning mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and the demand for school closures. Guess what? With an older population, Florida outperformed New York and California on Covid criteria – meanwhile on all economy and freedom measures Florida is outperforming nearly every other state. And see how his popularity went up after he took on Disney’s wokeness and virtue signalling, in stark contrast to the Liberals in this country who, sheeplike, give in to cancel culture at every opportunity.

DeSantis is successful precisely because he does not cave in to the focus group approach to politics. Instead, he has values and is prepared, as John Howard did, to argue for them and convince voters of their benefits.

Second, there is outgoing UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who, in his final speech to the House of Commons as PM, seemed to suggest he had learned from his mistakes. In what could be the best-ever summary of core centre-right principles, this was his advice to his successor:

‘[S]tand up for freedom and democracy everywhere. Cut taxes and deregulate wherever you can to make this the best place to live and invest. Focus on the road ahead but always remember to check the rear-view mirror. And remember, above all, it’s not Twitter that counts, it’s the people that sent us here.’

When the Liberals look in the rear-view mirror they will see three electoral beatings because they forgot about their principles and the people that put them there. If they don’t learn the lesson that you can’t win an election by being a poor imitation of your opponents, since voters will go for the real thing every time, then they face many long years in the wilderness, to the detriment of this country’s prosperity and its democracy.

I knew the Pirate would weigh in before the Cocksmoker crowed thrice.

Err, so a “wrongdoing” is not measured by the gravity of the offence, but only if it is noticed?
If it is newsworthy?

Men pretending to be women and women pretending to be men has been the very mark of decadence and deviance since forever. Hell, the left has used the charge of ‘crossdresser’ to smear J Edgar Hoover constantly.

But in the last few years, a blink of an eye historically, progressives have decided that it is in fact a beautiful thing. Better than being straight. Better than a person with a penis thinking himself a man, and a person with ladyparts thinking they are a woman.

But it has only been very recent that they have had this attitude.

So it makes it all the more laughable, that posture of theirs where they sold and admonish people who did not change their minds in sync with these leftists. There is no question that it might be the left that has wandered into a strange terrain, no. And forget the possibility that maybe they are the ones who are out of sync – every lefty knows that everything they do is right merely by virtue of it being what they do.

Lenin, Mao, Stalin, Fidel, even Chavez, none of their heroes ever gave any hint of thinking this trans stuff was acceptable. As far as I know they never even talked about it. They certainly did not promote the cause. I wonder how they explain that?

From Daily Mail. Well done Dutton.

Two leaders, one mask: The photo that sums up Anthony Albanese and Peter Dutton’s very different views on Covid – as just seven Coalition MPs wear them in Parliament while ALL of Labor does
Anthony Albanese and Peter Dutton shook hands at a Canberra church service
The PM Mr Albanese wore a mask but opposition leader Mr Dutton did not
Labor has strongly advocated Australians wear masks indoors, but no mandate
Mr Dutton strongly opposes mandates and believes masks are a choice

Several things;
but mostly that a lot of people have no idea what VAERS is and that many many millions more got vaccinated in 2021 than in the decades before.
“Specifically, a report to VAERS does not mean that a vaccine caused an adverse event.”

I’m not sure of the hard & fast numbers rule but from memory I recall some debate during the lockdown(s) thugby fiasco regarding players having BAT FLU and the NRL coming out and saying that there has to be X amount ofrecognized , registered, 1st grade players per team not just throw in a reserve team.
I think Channel 9 was threatening breach of TV contract after some team listed lotz of players who had never played 1st grade as starters …..

Because I had Covid six weeks ago they graciously allowed that perhaps I wasn’t spreading the plague right now and granted an exemption, but only for three months from the date of my infection.
Having returned home I realised that I couldn’t justify handing over large sums of money to a business that discriminates in this illogical and unfair way. So will cancel. Pity as it is just around the corner and highly recommended.
