You’ve touched on one of the issues I have with libertarians. They often push social liberties without responsibilities to wider society, before they’ll push economic liberties.
Telling people they will have to put up with some drug fucked loser leaching off the public purse, before telling them how they’re getting a tax cut and not paying for said loser, so to speak.
Fact of the matter is most of the people I deal with have an expectation that society is going to enforce at least some responsibility. Libertaians, to most of them, very much make an argument that boils down to the juvenile “but weed will be legal man!” type of thing.
Western insanity. When did the Russians ever give a fuck about their own people? All deaths in advance of Russian interests are considered worthwhile sacrifices, even though the sacrificees never had a say in their demise. Killian Russians does nought to advance success over Russia.

Unfortunately, you may have been misled.
Drug fucked losers already live off the public purse (as do many apparently “successful” people).
The sick thing is, alcoholics and gambling addicts are taxed anyway – the state is basically a mafia don.
The war on drugs is a colossal waste of money. If you had no ear on drugs, your private property would more secure from private AND public depredations.
Ideally, there would be no welfare state.
I am certain with students the welfare state is not necessary at all. It is literally money to get drunk and sleep around.
The proportion of genuinely needy can be better served by churches and other private charity, notwithstanding how much philanthropy increases when taxes are low (and they certainly are not now).
Welfare should be reformed. We should spend less. We should pay less tax. We shouldn’t have to explain why we have physical cash on ourselves either.
@ Bluey
I’m basically with you. However I sense a change amongst LDP members on where they should head. As I said before, we’ll see. Where else is there to go? The Libs are fucked, Pauline Hanson means well but is near the end of her career and the UAP (on the basis of what I saw at a demo in Strathfield) are a rabble.

So Maxwell’s successor as President of the Victorian Court of Appeal is another ‘former’ ALP member – in this case adviser and Crown Solicitor to Hulls, appointed to the bench by Hulls and to the Court of Appeal by Hennessy and Andrews.

UAP focused on freedom. I recall seeing in huge letters FREEDOM multiple times on the same billboard. It’s a word, meaningless in itself. People will gladly sacrifice freedom for security. We’ve been doing that for centuries. We pay taxes so we can have police and armed forces, we enforce restrictions in most areas of life. If the Lib Dems still think preaching freedom is a solution they are ignorant of history and don’t understand human behavior. The only people justified in crying for freedom are Daoist wanderers and that isn’t possible anymore.
Justice Emerton has form: appeared with Maxwell in one of his signature cases as a barrister against the Catholic bishops’ conference over abortion policy; overturned the local council’s decision to sack a perv from his job at a Geelong swimming pool (no worries, he wasn’t a priest or a rabbi).
And two corrections: she was Crown Counsel to Hulls, not Crown Solicitor, and appointed to the appeal court by Pakula – though if course Andrews calls the shots.

Leyonhjelm was good value, but foremost as essayist and writer. First met him here, in the Quadrant and in the Oz, back when I used to write for it myself. The floor of the chamber is a different kettle of fish, esp from sub-minor party opposition, but he had his moments, including when he called Dugong-Young a skanky ho (unwisely went to court tho). Although I was confronted with his stance on bikie freedom of association etc, it did make me harden up. I’m currently of the mind that’s on a level with decriminalizing some endemic drugs- although it’s important not to frustrate the teachings of our unconcious Anglicanish wowserism (ie as in-school libertine programs are wont to do), drugs and drug dealers are only handed power by the money which customers give them.
Libertarianism is an odd faith, essentially the creed of cutting the reins. There’s a liberty quote which goes Libertarianism is not a social, religious or economic belief- it’s simply a philosophy of government. You can have any personal faith which you choose, all you have to do is stop a government from forcing it upon others.
I’m not into the idea that aggressive expansionism is the only way forward for the LDP. That way lies LINOs, burnout, branch stacking… talking around the WA LDP, I reckon we’re still at the grassroots stage, and as such should look forward to a decade of word-of-mouth, barbecues and a branch culture something like town hall moot debates.
The usual haunts of candidates and sitting members is school fetes and fun runs- photo ops, babies and oldies, everything’s peachy. We’re instead going to target shire councils, chambers of commerce, industry expos. The number of LDP members who are under 50 and proactively in startups and small business was surprising, I doubt any other party would have as young a membership average.
Sorry, got off track-
LDP doesn’t need a flash Leader or zeitgeist cause- we’re not a religion looking for deliverance, or looking for a messiah.
We have a common enemy, the Lizard People. The Cathedral. The NWO. Marxism.
We need membership.

Can I suggest you put up a thread where people post ONCE (no cluttering it with amateur diagnoses), stating:-
.1 what hardware device they are using;
.2 what browser they are using;
.3 what problems they are experiencing (or simply state “no problems” if that is the case).
This may help diagnose the issue.
Not a bad idea but I don’t think the hardware is the issue. The webhost is interested in their IP address, browser, a screenshot of site, and time whenever this problem happens.

Pleased to see some optimism. Your remarks on getting local involvement and targeting local government resonate. Wish you, and the rest of us, luck. At this stage, word of mouth is all I have to offer. The education system is against us.
Libertarians tend to focus too much on abstract arguments and nuanced arguments about political philosophy. The lesson there is from publishers advising scientists writing books: every mathematical statement reduces your sales. When we talk about freedom tie it down to specific examples. For example, it is ridiculous that even air rifles require a license. It is absurd that to obtain a driving license you need to provide proof of 100 hours of tutored driving(or whatever the hours are). The only requirement to obtain a driving license should be passing the test. It is ridiculous that child care workers must have completed a formal course. We need to point out that so many of those mickey mouse industry courses benefit the course providers with healthy profits and do bugger all to prepare people for the job.
Ah, OK.
But a poll of whatever the three or four possible drivers (whatever they are) might help.
Get NFA to provide all the IP addresses!

David Leyonhjelm received some grief from the old Cat for supporting gay marriage. he was never ambiguous about it. Pretty much all else he was more doctrinaire rightwing than any Liberal.
What a breath of fresh air to hear a politician say that he would absolutely never vote in favor of a tax and actually mean it. He was great.
I read the other day about the US taking out Zwahiri in Kabul with a missile while he was on his balcony but not harming anyone else in the apartment.
Hmmm.
Sounds like bullshit.
Turns out they are using missiles without warheads, but with Thermomix blades which turn the target into steak tartare, but don’t damage a person two metres away.
The clean-up is a job for Mr Wolf, but.
The education system has been captured by Marxists, and all the creepy in loco parentis grasping that goes along with them.
A few crew were brainstorming about debating societies. I loved debating at school, mainly because it involved no prep, just winging it on brainpower alone- and a bit of war-gaming to anticipate counter-arguments. And, it got me off the boarding campus and away to meet girls. Having girls on the stage and audience really got a youngster over the heeby jeebies of blushing or avoiding sensitive subjects or taboo opinions, and quick, if you wanted to have any chance of advancement in the games.*
Todays schoolkids are wholly unprepared for that excercise- not only because wishy whashy concepts like “learnings” and “persuasive texts” have replaced the solid traditions of “education” and “essays”. But I don’t know how a political party could even be for example an impassive host for a interschool comp, it would tick someone off for sure.
*oui, c’est entendrement
It’s a majority in a majority of states (4 of 6) and a majority overall. Another advantage of the SSM plebiscite is that it had no detail attached, it simply advised parliamentarians who voted on subsequent legislation. This is not possible for a referendum change: you must spell out the detail at the time of the vote.
If Jacinta Price writes the “no” case, opposition will be high.
Safe drinking, sexual consent and Indigenous culture lessons have been made mandatory at an elite university.
Monash University students are being blocked from accessing learning materials or submitting assignments if they refuse or fail to finish the study modules on respectful relationships, Indigenous voices and academic integrity.
The National Union of Students criticised the learning lockout, warning it was unfair to block students from learning materials they were paying for as part of a degree. “If you pay fees for an education, you should have access to the resources to get your degree,’’ NUS president Georgie Beatty said on Wednesday.
The university requires all students, regardless of the degree they are studying, to complete compulsory modules on “Indigenous Australian Voices’’.
The module explains the Kulin nations people are the traditional owners of Melbourne. Students are taught about the “key events for Indigenous peoples since the arrival of the British in 1788’’, and practical ways to “be an agent of change’’ for Aboriginal people.
A university spokeswoman said students “will no longer be able to access their units on the learning management system until they complete the compulsory modules’’. “They will lose access to the content associated with the unit,’’ she said.
“Once they have completed the compulsory modules, they will regain access to the learning management system.’’
The spokeswoman said students could still access the university library and were able to sit exams and graduate, even if they failed to complete the modules.
“Incompletion of the module will not directly impact exam attendance or graduation,’’ she said.
“Students who complete their academic units will be eligible to sit exams and graduate, regardless of the completion status of compulsory modules.’’
But Ms Beatty said students could not study for their degree – be it an arts, science or engineering course – without accessing the online system, known as Moodle.
“If you can’t access Moodle, you can’t study,’’ she said.
“All the learning resources are centralised.’’
The university spokeswoman said students would not be taught about the federal government’s plan to hold a referendum to give Indigenous Australians a separate voice to federal parliament.
“This module has no connection to the federal government‘s Indigenous voice to parliament,’’ she said. “(It) was developed to provide students with an opportunity to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australia, and gain an important understanding of the rich and complex histories of First Nations Peoples and the lands on which we study, work and live. To date, more than 30,000 students have completed the module.”
Monash students are also required to complete online study modules about academic integrity, introduced in 2020, and Respect Now Always, introduced in 2019 after an Australian Human Rights Commission inquiry revealed a culture of sexual assault across university campuses. It found that half of all university students had been sexually harassed at least once in 2016, while one in 14 students was sexually assaulted at least once in 2015 or 2016.
The university’s respect training includes “safe alcohol consumption’’ and maintaining respectful relationships, which includes sexual consent.
Federal opposition education spokesman Alan Tudge said he supported training on respectful relationships, but questioned why all students were required to learn about Indigenous history.
“Why are modules on Indigenous perspectives compulsory at university when it is part of the school curriculum every year from prep to year 10?’’ he said.
“If it was aimed at international students, I could understand it, but even then I would hope that Australia’s liberal values are taught alongside lessons on our proud Indigenous heritage.”

A good problem with a referendum is, it would have to propose the exact wordage of the clause to be inserted.

Okay, about the states. What’s the second part of the sentence mean exactly – “a majority overall”.
Does that mean 4 of 6 states plus a popular majority?
So, to get it right, the plebiscite hasn’t bound us permanently with gay marriage and can be overturned by an act of parliament. Is that correct?
Thanks Dogs.

Don’t be too pessimistic. Patrick. Kids, at least those a bit older, do find interesting stuff on the web to read or listen to. Just because schools aren’t feeding them in the right way, doesn’t mean they minds are completely closed. They can and do access alternative ideas.

Orwell 101
“If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face — forever.”
Something that caught me by surprise was that Orwell’s anti-government stance arose because he was being monitored by the British secret service of the time. The general view that he was attacking communism and fascism in particular is tragically ironic because it masks his concern about how he was being treated in a purportedly free society.
Important point JC. The youngin’s are sourcing their information from much wider sources. There are people here who are always complaining about the stupidity and ignorance of the younger generation. I suggest they reflect on what they were thinking in their youth. I’ve done that, it’s cruel and unusual self inflicted punishment.

This is what finally puts an end to Australia
There is an ominous buzz in the new Australian Parliament — Albo and the Greens are planning to pass 40 new bills, quick smart.
Each bill will probably need 100 new regulations and 200 new inspectors, auditors, and enforcers plus many new taxes and fees. They will not deliver “Net Zero” — they are “Net Negative.” They will divert labor and capital from productive activities to bureaucracies and green energy speculators.
Where are the 40 old bills that Green-Albo will repeal to make room for these 40 wordy additions to Australia’s already overflowing legislative sewer?
We need a new political party dedicated solely to repeal of costly, destructive, and useless legislation.
Australia has thrived for over 200 years without Green-Albo’s forty new laws. So they can be safely rejected or repealed, and followed out the door by most of the legislation introduced under the baleful gaze of the Green Quad — Gillard, Rudd, Turnbull, and Morrison. A safe policy for the new Repeal Party is “Last in, First Out.”
Not only is it imperative to start the domestic repeal movement, but Australia also needs to back out of the international agreements swamp. Top priority here is to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement.
Probably the worst bill in Green-Albo’s legislative avalanche is “The Climate Change Bill.” This dreadful piece of legislation gives the government the ability to “ratchet up” green targets without new parliamentary approval but makes it difficult for future governments to ratchet back these targets. This will clutter rural Australia with imported solar panels and windmills and destroy forests and grasslands with spider-webs of roads and transmission lines. It will make blackouts more likely and destroy any heavy industry we have left. Filling our cities with electric cars will stress the electricity grid and add greatly to urban fire risks. And in 15 years (or after every cyclone), we will have an enormous problem trying to dispose of the worn out, non-degradable wind and solar generator debris.
Wind and solar are almost useless without big battery storage. But Turnbull’s Green Elephant, the Snowy 2 pumped hydro, is way behind in time and way ahead in costs.
Australia survived booms and busts, two World Wars, and the Great Depression only to see the Builder Generations outvoted by the Spoiled Brat generations — the Baby Boomers, the Millennials, Blockade Australia, and the Thunbergs.
Not only have Albo and the Green-Teals captured Australia’s Parliament, but they also dominate the schoolrooms, the education departments, and most of the media. Climate activism is encouraged in schools at the expense of maths, science, and engineering. The Builder Generations are depicted in education propaganda not as wise elders, but as “Cranky Uncles”.
No wonder we are cranky.
But Turnbull’s Green Elephant, the Snowy 2 pumped hydro, is way behind in time and way ahead in costs.
Energy policy: where parallel universes are set to collide
Rafe Champion
There are parallel universes in energy policy and they are about to collide.
In one universe, the governments of Australia and most of the Western world are committed to the flight from coal to renewable energy. In the other, we have already gone as far as we can go in that direction with existing storage technology.
The combination of wind droughts and the lack of feasible grid-scale battery storage makes the green energy transition impossible for the time being, despite what we are told.
Several times a year, there are periods with next to no wind across the whole of south-eastern Australia (the National Energy Market).
These ‘wind droughts’ can be described as icebergs in the path of the RE Titanic.
Very few people pay close attention to the wind apart from cyclists, sailors, and spin bowlers.
For many years, dedicated wind-watchers have sounded a warning about these ‘icebergs’, but the captain and passengers on the RE Titanic remain blissfully unaware of the approaching calamity.
The supply of wind is critical for wind power in the way that the water supply is required for irrigation, but the wind power industry has apparently been built without properly contemplating the impact of these wind droughts.
People have developed a false sense of security because when Australia had more than enough conventional power from coal and gas to back up the renewables grid, it did not matter whether the sun shone or the wind blew.
However, over the last two decades a large number of coal power stations have closed in south-eastern Australia, while most of those that remain are approaching the end of their working lives. Then there is Liddell in NSW, which is being phased out.
We have reached a critical tipping point.
If we lose more fossil fuel capacity from the grid, Australia’s power supply will fail every time there is not enough wind or solar power available to meet the peak demands at breakfast and dinnertime. The records show quite clearly that these renewable energy droughts happen often and there will not be enough power.
Pumped hydro is not a contender at the scale required because the major Snowy 2.0 scheme will only be a partial replacement for a single coal power station. Moreover, it comes with a massive financial and environmental cost.
Sometimes there is very little green like on the morning of May 27 last year.

The precise wording for a successful “yes” vote on The Voice:
For a referendum to be successful and the alteration to the constitution to be passed, a double majority vote must be achieved, which is:
* a majority of voters in a majority of states (at least four of the six states)
* a national majority of voters (an overall YES vote of more than a 50 per cent). (National Archives)
If the ALP, Labor, the Greens, the Teals and the SFLs all happily support “yes” for the referendum, of course the MSM will also throw its unqualified support behind “yes”.
It will be hard, but not impossible, to get a “no” case out to the voters.
However Lidia Thorpe’s Black Power salute may scupper the “yes” case before it gets started. If the SFLs use it to their advantage.
Read on to see Jonathan Green’ feeble attempt to critique Tony Abbott.
I think most of us emphatically reject the notion that we should be responsible for redressing the wrongs of the past, not committed by our ancestors, but most likely the ancestors of the people demanding redress.

Delaware’s Legislature used its emergency powers and the excuse of the pandemic to authorize no-excuse mail-in voting for 2020, but now, without bothering to lean on Covid as a crutch, the Democrat-controlled state legislature has passed a law providing for an unlimited right to vote by mail as well as authorizing same-day voter registration. A new lawsuit filed last week, however, seeks to have both laws declared unconstitutional under the Delaware constitution before this year’s midterm elections.

Libertarians have a bad image problem, as I said above. Mostly the exposure people have had in my circle has been the worst of the libertarian crowd, if they’re even aware of it. The classic Liberal party ideals of socially conservative etc. were popular for good reason, people don’t want an open slather society.
Unfortunately, religion has been supplanted by the state, so the social influence it had to temper something like libertarianism is gone. There needs to be a clear message of consequences and responsibilities, not just you’re free to do what you like before most people will consider it.
Think that makes it a bit clearer, dot’s reply makes me think my first try was read the wrong way.
This Telsa/Hertz relationship in the US makes a lot of sense.

Whilst Rogan is good I find most of his guests are either comedians or fighters and not into interested to listen. It’s been a while since he had on Dr’s McCullough and Malone or Alex Berenson. There have certainly been plenty of developments he could discuss with them. He has far less intersting guests than Pool and Megyn Kelly.
Some may have noted recent articles in Australia papers about “new” research indicating the virus came from the market and not the lab. One has been The Australian which is ironic because it was Sharri Markson who did so much reporting on the lab theory and published the book What really happened in Wuhan. New research is brought to you by the same people, including an Aussie, who very early on warned Fauci thought from a lab and then retracted a few days later. Megyn Kelly’s guest today will be Josh Rogan from Washington Post to debunk the new research.
The motive is clear. If the virus came from the market then all those researchers who are big buddies with their fellow scientists in Wuhan and Chinese CDC etc are not responsible due to their funding, collaboration, gain of function research etc.

Dot, the war is over.
Any wins against the blob in Australia will be merely pauses.
The battles were lost after the boomers let schools & universities become the breeding grounds for this hard green, cultural marxism.
Pauline Hanson has claimed the Indigenous Voice to Parliament would be ‘Australia’s version of apartheid’ in an extraordinary speech to the Senate.
The One Nation leader tripled-down on Wednesday on her strident opposition to voters being asked to enshrine the advisory body into the constitution.
The speech to a largely empty chamber while most were distracted by Greens leader Adam Bandt’s National Press Club address was just a week after she sensationally stormed out of the Senate during an acknowledgement of country.
‘The risk is very real that the sovereignty that all Australians have over their land and country will be handed to a racial minority,’ she said.
‘Why does this have to be in the constitution? What is the real ulterior motive? This can only be about power – creating a nation within a nation.
‘This can only be about taking power from whitefellas and giving it to blackfellas. This is Australia’s version of apartheid.
‘Are they prepared for the compensation or reparations which will be demanded when the High Court decides that traditional ownership means sovereign control?’
Senator Hanson, without missing a beat, moved on to another attack on the entire concept of acknowledgement of country speeches.
One is read at the start of Parliament every day, and she after her walkout complained they were now even delivered on airplanes.
‘Where will you stand, given that you acknowledge traditional ownership every day? Do you acknowledge that I, like millions of Australians, legally own my land and worked very hard for it?’ she said.
‘Do I have rights to my land, too? Can’t you acknowledge my connection to my land and my love for my country?’
Senator Hanson then attacked her most forceful critic, Greens senator Lidia Thorpe, who caused her own scene on Monday by raising her fist in a ‘black power’ gesture and called The Queen a ‘coloniser’ as she gave her oath of allegiance.
‘I note Lidia Thorpe’s racist interjection in the past when she told me to go back to where I came from,’ the One Nation MP continued.
‘She can rest assured that I did, indeed, go back to where I came from – back to Queensland, where I was born and where I raised my children, and where my parents and grandparents were born.
‘There is nowhere else for me to go. Australia is my home. Australia is our home – indigenous and non-indigenous alike.’

If you hoped the Mid Term elections might be relatively free of the vote rigging shenanigans from 2020, think again. The odd patterns are already showing up in the GOP primaries, where popular candidates are either going down or winning by tiny margins. In some cases so-called Secretaries of State are implicated, not mentioning all names, but see the linked article. The pattern is now being called the “Raffenberger Special”.
I written here before about why I left the LDP, when Dan started the oppression but then let the BLM protest go ahead I wrote to David L and suggested that he and Tim Q call a rally on the steps of Parliament the following weekend. He was horrified, his response was “Do you want me to break the law!”. I replied that was exactly what he should do, it would’ve really been a problem for Dan and arresting an MP at Parliament would really stir things up. Anyway David and the LDP took the low energy slow road and although they did a pretty good job opposing Dan (they were the opposition instead of the Libs), they were pretty low key and relaxed.
So when the federal election was in the offing I decided to change parties to somewhere more energetic, the only choices were PHON and UAP, I went UAP only because Craig Kelly went there and I thought he would temper Clive and also provide direction and leadership. He did both but the task was too much I think.
When the election was called the UAP,PHON and to a certain extent the LDP all campaigned on the Freedom message, this went down well at most public events but the enthusiasm was confined to a relatively small group of voters, those voters were very committed, but the general population really didn’t care about freedom and that’s a fact. I think that the three freedom parties got between 10 and 15% of the vote around the country (between them). So a significant figure but not nearly enough to succeed. The UAP greatly disappointed me when after having the slogan put the Libs and Labor last on the ticket, the went ahead and preferenced the Libs in quite a few Vic seats, ahead of PHON. Apparently this was done to get some preferences in Qld from the Libs, still trying to find out exactly what happened and why. Craig Kelly won’t respond to me nor Clive.
So after the election and some reflection I rejoined the LDP, I considered PHON however I believe that any party based around an individual rather than policy is going to struggle in the long term. If PHON drop Pauline as it’s name and put Latham as leader and was committed to a philosophy of those things that all of us here want, then I may have gone there.
Noe the LDP, the Vic election isn’t far off and the communication is terrible. I wasn’t made aware of a call for candidates and their selection seems to be a matter for the central committee rather than the membership. I have had no communication at all from Tim Q who is my local member for them. I offered to assist and do what I can to help but no response. I understand that tis is a busy time but the UAP was full on with communication and energy at this time in the federal election. The whole LDP seems to be a low energy organisation. I hate the idea of charismatic leaders and I don’t think they need one but they really need to get a leader who can speak well, attract attention and explain what and why their policies are good. David L seems to be a determined good man but he does come across as a little weird, way too low key and even slightly creepy. That is no good.
I’ll stick with the LDP for the time being as they are the best of the lot by a long way. but they can also be massively improved and I can’t see it happening the way they run at the moment. The Vic state election is a perfect situation for third parties to succeed, a crooked premier, a sycophantic useless opposition, the media is starting to turn on Andrews and the state of malaise. Problem is all of the freedom parties are playing it low key and there’s not long to go.

Pleased to see some optimism. Your remarks on getting local involvement and targeting local government resonate. Wish you, and the rest of us, luck. At this stage, word of mouth is all I have to offer. The education system is against us.
The Liars and rhe Slime use local government bath for “apprenticeships”, and because it is easier to gain power there. Then the whole “save the world” idea can be implemented a small area at a time, and scamming ratepayers funds for “green” and “hooman rites” campaigns is subject to lower levels of scrutiny.
A party with a policy to concentrate on “roads, rubbish, water and public toilets” could gain support, and push the parasites out before they grab control of a whole region.

Pretty much as you have stated it. SSM could be overturned by Parliament, and as AnAl is proposing for the “Voice” referendum, the detail would be established after the referendum, by Parliament, and therefore could be changed by Parliament.
As I wrote last evening, “When the corruption and nepotism become too grotesque to ignore, the Liars and the Lieborals will join together to abolish it, as they did with ATSIC. Even the referendum question proposed by AnAl has so little detail, that reducing the “Voice” to a single, sane, hand-picked person (Jacinta P?) could be achieved.”
I also added a bit later in the evening “Read the words of the change that AnAl is proposing to the Constitution. It says there shall be a voice, and it will advise the government, and a couple of other platitudes. What it does not do is specify the composition of the voice and how it is to operate, all that is to be set out in legislation.
Unless more details are put into the proposed amendment, then the “Voice” could be as little as one aboriginal, attached to the PS’s Department, or an ATSIC like empire of corruption and nepotism, depending entirely on the legislation, which, like the ATSIC legislation, can be changed by Parliament.”
What AnAl id proposing is to put the facade of a “Voice” in the Constitution, but allow Parliament to establish the detail. It is both a slimy approach, and also one that leaves a future government with some flexibility, if it has a majority in both Houses, or the corruption becomes too grotesque.
Format fail, the first para is also from JC.

Ukraine claims it needs $750 billion more to ‘Build Back Better’
Kiev economics school assessment is funded by USAID.
A new US-funded report out of Kiev assesses $108.3 billion in economic damages for Ukraine, but requests a 7x replenishment of $750 billion so that the country can “Build Back Better.”
As of August 1, 2022, the new update from the Ukrainian institution assesses $108.3 billion in economic damages from the war, roughly the equivalent of the country’s gross domestic product in 2020.
The study says Ukraine will need a bare minimum of $185 billion, almost twice the amount in damages, in order to repair the nation, citing what they refer to as the “Build Back Better principle.” The slogan was popularized by The World Economic Forum, and is used by governments to refer to their plans to impose digital tyranny and accomplish ESG-compliant objectives.
Ukraine is seeking the “modernization of assets that have not suffered damage and destruction,” the report adds That request will mark up the economic aid request to the tune of $750 billion dollars.
At the end of the report, we find that the robust damages assessment is not an independent effort. In fact, it is funded by the U.S. taxpayer, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
The “assessment” is just the latest document that advances the continuing global campaign to solicit funds for the rebuilding, reconstruction, and “modernization” of Ukraine, despite the fact that the war is ongoing. There has been a concerted effort in the D.C. lobbying and military contracting space to score massive funds for the “reconstruction” effort.
Meanwhile in D.C., Congress is beginning to whip the votes for a new funding round for Ukraine, yet very few lawmakers having any idea where the first $40 billion ended up.
On Monday, the White House authorized an additional $550 million in weaponry for Kiev.

Almost every member of Congress, Democrat or Republican, pays homage to the Big Green Lie. So do all the past and remaining Conservative candidates vying to be prime minister of the UK and every candidate currently vying for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada. So does virtually all of the mainstream press. The Big Green Lie—that carbon dioxide is a pollutant—is so pervasive that even those considered skeptics—including right-wing NGOs and pundits—generally adhere to the orthodoxy, differing not in their stated belief that CO2 is a pollutant but only in how calamitous a pollutant it is.
Because everyone now participates in the CO2-emissions-are-bad lie, the debate over climate policy hasn’t been over whether a CO2 problem exists but over how urgently CO2 needs to be addressed, and how it should be addressed. Do we have eight years left before Armageddon becomes inevitable or decades? Do we get off fossil fuels by building nuclear plants or wind turbines? Should we change our lifestyles to need less of everything? Or should we mitigate this evil—the view of those deemed climate minimalists—by shielding our continents from a rising of the oceans by enclosing them behind sea walls?

A legal clash pitting healthcare employees that opted out of the COVID-19 vaccine mandates for religious motivations against a sizable Midwestern integrated health system has been settled by the parties based on a $10.3 million negotiated agreement that now just simply needs execution by a federal judge. Billed by the plaintiff’s counsel as the first-class action lawsuit settlement against a private employer concerning the COVID-19 vaccine mandates, the conflict started when fourteen healthcare employees, including nurses, a pharmacy tech, and a senior application analyst filed a lawsuit last October against the defendant, NorthShore University HealthSystem. The employees were named anonymously in the litigation.

the obvious from the beginning according to stats out of UK that Ethnic “Coloured” were more likely to be Vitamin D deficiency
Association of Vitamin D Levels, Race/Ethnicity, and Clinical Characteristics With COVID-19 Test Results
Importance Deficient (ie, <20 ng/mL) or insufficient (ie, 20 to <30 ng/mL) 25-hydroxyvitamin D (also known as calcifediol) levels are more common in Black individuals than White individuals and are associated with increased coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) risk. Whether COVID-19 risk is associated with differences in vitamin D levels of 30 ng/mL or greater is not known.
Vitamin D concentrations and COVID-19 infection in UK Biobank
COVID-19 and low levels of vitamin D appear to disproportionately affect black and minority ethnic individuals. We aimed to establish whether blood 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) concentration was associated with COVID-19 risk, and whether it explained the higher incidence of COVID-19 in black and South Asian people.
Vitamin D deficiency unlikely to fully explain COVID-19’s effect on people of color
Almost every doctor who died from COVID-19 in the U.K. was a person of color.
To be clear, a referendum needs to pass two tests:-
.1 to have an absolute majority nationwide; and
.2 be passed in a majority of states (four).
So, a referendum could pass in WA, SA, Tasmania and Queensland but fail to secure a national majority if voted down in the most populous states (Victoria and NSW).
Conversely, a referendum could score a solid majority in NSW, Victoria and Queensland, sufficient to score a national majority of votes, but it would need a majority in one more state to succeed.
It’s consensus politics.
And lefties love consensus, right?

Poll: Most Voters Think Democrats Ran Economy ‘Straight Into the Ground’
A majority of likely voters believe Democrats are responsible for plunging the United States into a recession, a Rasmussen Reports poll released on Wednesday found.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said in late July that “Democrats inherited an economy that was primed for an historic comeback, and promptly ran it straight into the ground.” Out of 1,000 likely voters surveyed between July 28-31, 59 percent say they agree with McConnell’s statement and 35 percent disagree. The margin of sampling error is ± 3 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.

It does a tapas style of degustation, and was pretty good. A major hens’ party was in progress, reminding me of my birthday celebrations, and the staff did well to cope. Waitress had a mien and side-on profile like my own daughter at her age and so she got the tip in cash, well-deserved as she was running back and forth with the little plates all night.
These people work hard. In our Coff’s resort we spoke to the manager who was also bartending in the restaurant. He said chefs these days could name their price, and it was almost impossible to get staff, hence the cut-back on so many services. He didn’t see any relief coming from the low level of unemployment, where he saw a lot of general unemployability due to ingrained disabililty and addiction etc. He was all in favour of limited unskilled immigration to close the low-skills gap.
Heading up to Noosa for lunch now.
‘Don’t become the hunted’: Lilburn police give gas station safety tips
“These are target-rich environments (and) people are looking for a crime of opportunity. And one of the things that they’re looking for is risk versus reward if they can get in and out,” Johnson said in a phone call with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“Gas stations are like a community’s watering hole. Everyone has to go to them eventually,” Johnson said in the post.
Johnson offered tips for staying safe at the gas pumps:
“It’s important to remember to practice situational awareness when approaching any gas station. Circle around first and look for cars backed in with people watching. Don’t proceed until you feel the area is safe.”
“After exiting your vehicle, have you locked your car or truck? Do you have the ignition keys in your hand?”
“Have a plan for every step of your transaction. Get in and get out. Move with a purpose.”
“Make eye contact with those around you and let them know you see them. Have your ‘head on a swivel.’”
Johnson said if someone approaches and tries to take your vehicle, let them take it.
“It’s not worth your life to resist. They will get caught! Toss the keys in the opposite direction you plan to escape,” Johnson said in the post.
This manager also said that the low-skills gap could be improved by more backpackers, pension changes for older workers, and simple training for much younger ones at school or uni.
A useful tip for any escape to gain some time? Ladies, also your handbag. Gentlemen, your wallet.

From the US, don’t know about Oz
Google is adding a label to help searchers easily find businesses that self-identify as Asian-owned. Google’s addition of business attributes that highlight identity popped up first with tags for women-led businesses in 2018. Later that year, Google added labels to distinguish veteran-owned businesses on searches and Maps.
In July 2020, Google introduced its label to focus searches seeking Black-owned businesses, in September 2021, Google added a Latino-owned tag, and most recently in June, the company added LGBTQ-led businesses to the list. Asian-owned businesses will be identified by a red and orange flower.
Like we’ve seen with the other tags, now searchers can easily find Asian-owned businesses through a Google search and via Google Maps. Business owners who have already created a verified business listing with Google can add the label by opting in, and can also opt-out at any time.
“Liberal MP Bridget Archer has crossed the floor to support Labor’s 43 per cent emissions reductions bill, while fellow Liberal MP Warren Entsch has voted against the target despite speculation he was open-minded about a more ambitious target.
Debate is continuing, with several teal independents moving amendments including Goldstein MP Zoe Daniel and Kooying MP Monique Ryan representing Curtin MP Kate Chaney who is sick with Covid-19.”
You know, if the Liberal Party had any balls, which of course it doesn’t, it would and should expel Archer, but this is the same party that refuses to expel Malcolm Turnbull, a creep of the first order who campaigns against sitting Liberals. No wonder Labor is laughing.
Two letters in today’s Oz sum up a lot of feeling towards “the voice” etc…
No more tolerance for those activists who spurn our offers of goodwill and support
Thank you, Malcolm Price (Letters, 2/8). I also am an elderly Australian who has lived through decades of expressed goodwill towards our Aboriginal population. I fought under arms outside the wire in Vietnam with several young Aboriginal soldiers and there was no distinction in any form or substance whatsoever: typical of my association with such determined and principled men over my lifetime.
When I was a child in Kalgoorlie, Paul Hasluck brought a young Arunta girl to our house and our family supported her for several years while she was attending North Kalgoorlie Primary School and onwards. I assume these days she would be regarded as a child of “the Stolen Generation”?
I stand to honour tens of thousands of years of Aboriginal culture and I have happily accepted the enormous expenditure of taxpayers’ money on Indigenous affairs over the years, despite the ambivalent results.
Sadly, having viewed the footage of senator Lidia Thorpe in parliament (“Greens’ Queen gambit backfires”, 2/8), it has, for now and forever, sealed my contempt for those who have vehemently, consistently rejected the hand of positive support that has been extended to them in modern decades. They yet live blinded by their distorted view of history and wilfully reject the opportunities offered them by the great majority of Australians who have stood resolutely with the doors open for their advancement. A “voice” in parliament serves only to perpetuate the tragedy of the divide.
Welcome, Jacinta Price. We recognise your grace, courage and extraordinary wisdom.
Bob Lewis, Huddleston, SA
Janet Albrechtsen (“Libs left limp as voice poses legal nightmare”, 1/8) and Greg Sheridan (“Enshrined voice betrays ideals of liberalism”, 2/8) have both argued that the Liberals are in the process of dealing themselves out of debate on the voice referendum, while Tony Abbott (“Entrenching race in Constitution drives us further apart”, 3/8) reminds us of the insuperable objection that the voice would permanently divide us on the basis of race.
If I’m any judge of musings by opposition spokespeople, there will be an effective (if not entirely wholehearted) bipartisan stance on the referendum. This would be the gravest of errors. Constitutional sanction for an Aboriginal voice will be a legal nightmare, providing splendid ammunition to activist High Courts.
Our supine acceptance of years of pro forma but insidious welcomes to our own country, mandatory acknowledgment of putative elders, a variety of debased ceremonies torn from an ancient cultural milieu and, above all, perhaps, a flag representing a polity that never existed has done much to blind Australians to the long-term dangers of this outrageous proposal.
Despite the fact no other nation (Canada doesn’t count) has shown Australia’s willingness to make amends for its past treatment of the continent’s first inhabitants or displayed an equal readiness to commit resources to that end, the Aboriginal industry continues to mine an apparently inexhaustible seam of white guilt. Enough already!
The process in which we are engaged has more in common with an orgy of self-abasement than one of reconciliation.

Lefties love consensus as long as the consensus falls their way.
The classic lefty screech being “There was no ‘proper’ consultation”, which translates as “Our opinion was not accepted, even after we spent many hours screaming it out”.

Students at a Manhattan private school have revealed how they were forced to attend a drag queen performance earlier this year.
The pupils at Grace Church High School, an independent Episcopal school that costs $57,000 a year, were required to attend chapel on April 27 for the school’s Sixth Annual Pride Chapel event.
The event was sponsored by the school, the reverend as well as students and the faculty advisors for Spectrum, the school’s LGBTQ club.
This year, it featured a performance by Jesse Havea as the drag queen Brita Filter, who was filmed strutting down the aisles of the chapel in bright orange go-go boots and a high-hemmed blue babydoll dress.
‘I literally went to church to teach the children today,’ the performer captioned the TikTok video.
Havea then spoke with the students about drag and his pansexual identity, as students said they were forced to dance in the pews.
‘There was tons of social pressure to dance along and pretend like it was normal for sure,’ one unnamed student told The Post Millennial, ‘whether it be people tapping on shoulders and telling them to stand up or just a collective staring contest at whoever wasn’t totally participating.’
Another student said: ‘Immediately upon entering, there was a person handing out stickers with Pride flags on them unironically saying “take one or you’re homophobic.”‘
Video posted online by drag queen Brita Filter shows her strutting down the aisles of the Grace Church chapel in bright orange go-go boots and a high-hemmed blue babydoll dress
Students told The Post Millennial how Havea — as Brita Filter — entered the church through the back entrance following remarks by a chaplain and faculty members, one of whom introduced Havea as ‘the queen of New York.’
The performer then strutted down the aisle as I Will Survive played, and the students were forced to clap along.
One student even said that as Havea approached the altar, he was joined by other dancing students, some of whom were twerking along with the music.
‘I wondered, “Is this really happening in a chapel?”‘ the student asked.

Well said!
Yet rich public servants who once worked overseas can fight to have their generous super scheme re-calculated to include their o/s add ons.
Imagine – you get free housing while working o/s for DFAT and now you want the value of that free housing to be calculated into your super entitlements.
Double dipping writ large.
Some stupid judge or politician will agree and taxpayers will have to fund massively increased retirement benefits for public servants who already are sitting in clover.

No more tolerance for those activists who spurn our offers of goodwill and support
The font of goodwill expressed in the 1967 referendum 55 years ago has evaporated away by the greed of the so-called indigenous “leaders” of the last two or three decades, whose only response to that goodwill has been to screech “Gimme more”.
Further to the battery fires stories this morning, this one is fun.
Chevrolet Offers Bolt Owners Money If They Waive the Right to Sue (2 Aug, via Instapundit)
With the Chevrolet Bolt gradually losing its competitive edge as more all-electric vehicles take the field, and the car on the hook for a high-profile recall relating to battery fires, General Motors opted to reduce its price by six grand this year in a bid to make the 2023 model year more appetizing to consumers.
…
Introduced in July, the assumption was that GM would offer simple cash rebates to last year’s customers as a way to say it was sorry. But Bolt owners have started leaking to the press that the deal also includes a contract where beneficiaries would have to waive their right to sue General Motors (or any other involved company) in the event that the Bolt catches fire.
According to Jalopnik, those attempting to take advantage of the offer found themselves confronting a step in the process where they had to submit their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and were then required to agree to “forever waive and release all claims, damages, or causes of action” before continuing. So, if the car experiences a bout of thermal runaway and burns down your garage or some other catastrophic issue takes place, GM is legally protected.
Now that is cute: ‘here have some sorry money, but sign away all your rights if your car does a self-immolation because of our shonky engineering’.
I’m starting to see the new enlightened EV century to be a very popcornworthy one. And one with much exothermic fun to make my chemist’s heart glad. Just pity the poor crispy-fried owners.

“I Don’t Feel The Pain Of Inflation Anymore” Says Wealthy SF Fed Chair From Ivory Tower
San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly, who makes $422,900 per year – and scrambled out of dozens of investments last year shortly before the Fed finalized strict new limits on policymakers’ portfolios – just had her ‘Nancy Pelosi Ice Cream” moment, dropping a sidewalk-spattering turd from her ivory tower on the average struggling American.
During an interview with Reuters broadcast live on Twitter spaces, Daly said: “I don’t feel the pain of inflation anymore. I see prices rising but I have enough… I sometimes balk at the price of things, but I don’t find myself in a space where I have to make tradeoffs because I have enough, and many Americans have enough.”
Now, with all that said, describe what you think the President of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco would be like.

10 Promising Signs That The Insidious Mind-Control-Matrix The Elite Have Created Is Starting To Crumble
In order for any society to function effectively, there must be a high level of trust.
Unfortunately for the elite, we simply do not trust them anymore.
. Trust in our politicians has fallen to an all-time low.
. Trust in the media has fallen to an all-time low.
. Trust in our corporations has fallen to an all-time low.
. Trust in our health care system has fallen to an all-time low.
. Trust in our education system has fallen to an all-time low.
. Trust in the tech industry has fallen to an all-time low.
We no longer are buying into the crap that they keep shoveling our way.
And that is a really, really good thing.
Extremely Diverse Company…
Had public money shovelled in the door including guaranteed power purchase agreement at a fixed price of $178/MWh (!!!) . Siphoned capital off into another Maoneng project in breach of capital structure.
Chinese company ethics with Australian level graft and corruption. Nasty combination.
Corporate HR, for one.
And, of course, as advisers to every level of government, including local (where social planning is becoming a big thing).
This is the ‘long march’ in action.
