Was anyone else having problems site-wise last after 11pm?

Dover – Everything was working properly for me* up until just before 11pm, which was the last comment I made on Rabz’ radio show before wandering off. Been all good for me today.

(* Had a 500 error early on in Rabz’s thread, but I think that may be Aksimet spam control related as I was able to get around it.)

Plant Based Sausage Rolls

I suspect that’s all sausage rolls. Bought a sausage roll from Vietnamese bakery last week to try it: they do nice pies, so I though the sausage rolls might be nice too. Noooo…I would be wrong. Pastry-wrapped cardboard.

Herb Elliott, John Landy, Ron Clarke, Craig Mottram and now Ollie Hoare.

I watched it live and luckily had it recording too.
2 grandkids were having a sleepover at my place – I wouldn’t let them go home this morning until they watched the 1500m replay. It’s such an important milestone (pardon the pun) in Australia’s sporting history.
I also replayed the 4x100m relay to show them how team-mates support each other when supreme endeavour goes pear shaped.

Unprecedented! China’s chip moguls arrested in rush/The Shocking Corruption of state-owned chip fund
China Insights

This photo has recently become an Internet sensation in China because the six people depicted are the top players in China’s chip industry, and now they are all in big trouble. In the past few days, several senior executives of the organization behind the semiconductor industry in mainland China have been taken away by the CCP’s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and investigation.
This storm suggests that Xi Jinping, the current CCP leader, can no longer endure the corruption permeating the industry, and is trying to launch an anti-corruption campaign against influential figures to save China’s chip industry.
But if the fundamental problems in the system are not solved, the anti-corruption campaign, no matter how long it lasts, will not be able to solve the complex problem of China’s chip bottleneck.

FFS, if you don’t like meat, don’t eat it, but don’t be a vegan because you think it makes you holy.

PS: I was a vegetarian for two years as a twentysomething because I didn’t want to kill animals.

I now regard vegetarians as political radicals who hate nature, humanity, themselves, human civilisation and everything it has produced, including science and knowledge.

But especially the animals they pretend to care about. Vegetarians and vegans hate animals.

Plus they’re anemic because they’re denying their emaciated bodies the nutrients they need.

I know of some that become vegetarians to lose weight and also as an aid to digestion, they don’t enjoy being costive and have a morbid fear of dying like Elvis. Girls especially.

Amazing how many vegans recoil from pets and yet profess to be into saving the environment. Again, girls especially.

Not claiming to be any saint in regard to these matters, either. I’ve been happy to dish out the abuse when I felt it was warranted.

But this is seriously becoming ridiculous. Enuff.

Not quite.
In my opinion the primary issue is the attempt to dox someone and their family members.
A dog act.
People may have missed it first time around.
OK.
But, once the issue came to light since, it seems the condemnation has been somewhat muted.
The test will be if (or when) Glycolax turns up again, either under that handle, or his original screen name.

Yep. That’s because they hate animals, even though they pretend to love them.

Vegans wouldn’t know animal husbandry if it jumped up and bit them on the ovaries/balls.

If you love animals, you work in industries than look after them.

In the West veganism and vegetarianism are simply food cloaks for hard-left ideologues. It’s a label for them. I’ll be honest, I loathe vegans. Almost all of them are rabid far-left progressive extremists. When I’m introduced to one, I always know where they live and who they vote for, ninety-nine percent of the time they live in suburbs like Newtown, Marrickville, and other inner-west areas and they vote Green. I’ve never met a healthy vegan….not once….not ever…they’re always pale, weak and sickly looking. I remember when a friend’s son became a vegan at sixteen, twelve years later he’s a far-left activist who’s been arrested several times.

As for vegetarianism, I don’t like militant vegetarians however the vegetarians I know aren’t militant, they’re not sanctimonious and they don’t preach. Most I know still eat eggs and diary. Personally I love eating meat and try to eat red meat twice a week, I always feel good after eating red meat. I love offal and cheap cuts which involve slow slow cooking. We evolved to eat meat.

Aging from an Older Mate

Two guys grow-up together, but after college one moves to Georgia and the other to Texas. They agree to meet every ten years in Florida to play golf.

At age 32 they meet, finish their round of golf, and head for lunch.

“Where you wanna go?”

“Hooters.”

“Why Hooters?”

“They have those servers with big boobs, tight shorts, and gorgeous legs.”

“You’re on.”

At age 42, they meet and play golf again.

“Where you wanna go for lunch?”

“Hooters.”

“Again? Why?”

“They have a cold beer, big screen TVs, and side action on the games.”

“OK.”

At age 52 they meet and play again. “So where you wanna go for lunch?”

“Hooters.

“Why?”

“The food is pretty good and there’s plenty of parking.”

“OK.”

At age 62 they meet again.

After a round of golf, one says, “Where you wanna go?”

“Hooters.”

“Why?”

“Wings are half price and the food isn’t too spicy.”

“Good choice”

At age 72 they meet again.

Once again, after a round of golf, one says, “Where shall we go for lunch?”

“Hooters.”

“Why?”

“They have six handicapped parking spaces right by the door and they have senior discounts.”

“Great choice.”

At age 82 they meet and play again. “Where should we go for lunch?”

“Hooters.”

“Why?”

“Because we’ve never been there before.”

“Okay, let’s give it a try.”

Indeed. A classic example of leftist “I know best”, never mind what a black indigenous woman thinks, the white ALP hack knows best. Perhaps it’s time the rhetoric so beloved by progressive scum was thrown back at them, and Linda Scott is called out for her smug white privilege and she and others of her ilk, who love to casually dismiss the real lived experience of a black woman like Jacinta Price, is called a “racist”…..after all, they love to throw that word around with gay abandon.

Been looking at some old family photographs. Huge family. Uncles and Aunts and cousins. Hundreds of them. Looking at the photos and trying to work out “who is who” when they were younger. How they smiled as children is amazing.

What struck me is a photo from the 1960’s. A heap of younger children all well dressed, ranging in age from about 4-12. I could spot a couple of my sisters in it. Primary school age. Everyone looked so absolutely happy. Big smiles.

What terrifies me is that nowadays, those same kids can be “groomed” by some weirdo teacher wanting to put a “drag queen” in front of them. For equality and equity.

In a sane world, blokes would punch the fuck out of these arseholes. FMD.

About Xi Pooh Bear having the top 6 chip maker senior executives arrested is show only. Corruption is all the way through the system. Corruption is usually incompetence much like the APS. Don’t promote those that can do your job better. Stand on the head of the next guy to make oneself taller so to speak is par for the course. Shifting alliances is how Pooh Bear got there and how he will be removed. Isn’t he supposed to be Premier for life. That life may look like ending sooner than he first thought. Its easy being a leader when things are going well, soon changes though. People involved in corruption tend to make sure things happen to keep the gravy flowing. Incompetents in power are narcissists and don’t know what to do when things go wrong except blame everyone else. I came across one recently on a small scale but adequately demonstates incompetence. Department Head wants accountant for an SES branch head on the basis they wear the same brand of shirt and discuss clothing apparel. The job required some specialist knowhow unknown by said accountant. I kid you not. The Head was overruled by the others on the panel and wanted to know how he got on the short-list.

1964/5 at Kings Cross was interesting. When we moved in Ted Noffs Wayside Chapel had only just opened and was recognisable only by the cardboard sign out the front. We knew where it was because we parked our car nearby.
The picture theatre just down the road from us was continuous, day and night. You could come in anytime, sit on director type seating and smoke if you wished, butts on the floor. This venue later became Surf City.
Drag nightclub Les Girls was very close to where we lived. We would see them often at the shop in Roslyn St.

Jacinta Price accuses Sun-Herald columnist Peter FitzSimons of being ‘aggressive’ and ‘rude’ to her during an interview

Sophie Elsworth
Media Writer
7 minutes ago August 7, 2022

Jacinta Nampijinpa Price has accused newspaper columnist and author Peter FitzSimons of being aggressive and rude to her during an interview, alleging he accused her of “giving racists a voice”.

The newly elected Country Liberal Party senator took to Facebook on Sunday to level the claims at FitzSimons after his interview with her ran in Nine’s Sun-Herald newspaper.

The social media post read in part: “I don’t know if I’d do another interview with the bloke again. He accused me of giving racists a voice but that wasn’t printed.”

Senator Price, a Warlpiri woman who has been vocal about her concerns over Labor’s proposed Indigenous voice to parliament, told The Australian FitzSimons was “condescending and rude” towards her – a claim FitzSimons denied.

Senator Price said her conversation with FitzSimons “was like talking to a brick wall” and she was left “insulted”.

The phone interview was conducted on Thursday afternoon and Senator Price said while it started off “quite well”, the columnist soon became “aggressive”.

“I’m not a wilting violet but he’s a very aggressive bloke, his interview style is very bloody aggressive, he doesn’t need to launch in,” she said.

“Accusing me of somehow giving power to racists because the issues I raise are confronting – he loses the point completely.

“I said to him, ‘Get down from the bloody ivory tower and come out to one of my communities’.”

When contacted by The Australian on Sunday night, FitzSimons said Senator Price’s claims were “complete and utter … nonsense”, and described their interview, which lasted for an hour, as a “professional exchange”.

“Every single word recorded, as I told her,” FitzSimons said in a text message to The Australian.

“Not even a raised voice. And she approved the entire final result.

“This is not remotely a matter of interpretation. Friendly interview, nice text exchange at its conclusion.”

Senator Price said while she did not regret the interview, she was shocked by FitzSimons’ ignorance on Indigenous issues.

“I was really taken aback and I was exhausted by the energy it took having to defend myself. I was made to feel as though what I was trying to do is wrong and my voice is not as legitimate as those who purport to suffer from 250 years of colonisation,” Senator Price said.

FitzSimons’ interview covered colonisation, reconciliation, the voice to parliament, and the Indigenous politician’s own upbringing.

WHAT ARE THEY HIDING? Fences At Maricopa County Elections Department Are Reportedly Being Covered Up So People Cannot See! – STILL COUNTING 2 Days After Election.

The Gateway Pundit reported that Maricopa County is still counting the ballots two days after the shady primary election. We also reported on the massive fraud concerns and voting irregularities that occurred.
The counting stopped shortly after Kari Lake took the lead statewide, and the State and Fake News Media are refusing to call the race.

Strikes me there’s three distinct types of Australians with Aboriginal heritage, and they have three different broad outcomes.
The first is the top-of-the-pyramid Marxists. The Professor Langtons, the Director Thorntons, the Senator Thorpes, the R&B artist Adam Briggses, the visual artist Adam Douglas Hills, the MP Burneys. All done real good in Australia either by effort or gift, almost all have pulled that maneouvre where they spurn their country as actually racist and vicious, which elevates their success all the more as being against satanic odds, and they largely call for the dissolution of the culture in which they’ve triumphed and its replacement by a world of their own design wherein they are the rulers. This is the utopia of The Voice, reparations, First Nationses, Treaty, Welcome To Country… and these people are the most powerful lobbyists for this sinister revolution. These people are usually the ones who boast about “walking between two worlds”, but have no doubt that they are largely massively comfortable and spend their whole existence in what can only be described as a world of European plenty.
The second is the average Australians, who live, work, study, save, move house, have kids, fall out with their second cousins, buy a new car when they get old, like any other Australians- it’s just that these have ancestors who were Aboriginal. No-one should really be too worried about these peeps, because they are us. Their interaction with the mechanisms of the Australian civil state- Local, State and Federal government- police, courts, banks, schools, health- are just the same as everyone else. (There is probably a distortion with the multitude of Aboriginal-targeted companies, commissions, scholarships and such which they might interact with, but I’ll leave that consideration out).
The third group (third of my speculation, no value judgement) is people who are genuinely stuck in traditional communities, which can be broadly described as stone-age superstitious male gentocracies. (When I say “they” I’m not trying to dismiss the individual suffering of every soul, but I mean the modal presentation of lots of tragic single lives which are forming a pattern too grisly to ignore). They can access the European luxuries of alchohol, drugs and porn with no temperance; they have inherited the violence of payback, wife beating, infanticide and yet we Australians must uphold the human rights of the victims; they are let down by illiteracy and innumeracy, which means that their mental processes are forever stuck in square one through the progress of court proceedings, money spending, school.

It’s apparent to me that Voice, Treaty, First Nations, Reparations only serve the interests of the first group, the aircon Aboriginals. ( Can’t bring myself to type “*bb*s. Funny isn’t it? I want to signal my disdain for people who want to claim the cred of victimhood, but I hate that word because I’ve heard it in my hometown as a sledge).
Voice doesn’t do anything for the second group, the Everyday Average Aboriginals, because they are doing quite alright, and demonstrating the primacy of a Enlightenment country by making their own decisions.
Voice will do bugger all for the last group. The only thing that will lift the misery of the Australians who are still trapped with no safety, no agency, no education and no responsibility is the continued ingress of the Enlightenment, and as aggressive as it needs to be.

For the firearms afficionados here, I give you the Dardick Tround:

The Dardick tround, or simply tround (triangular round), is a unique firearms cartridge developed by inventor David Dardick for use in his open-chamber firearms. Named for its convex triangular shape, the tround allowed the firearm’s chamber to be open on one side, removing the requirement for reciprocating motion when chambering and ejecting a cartridge.

Amazing engineering conceptualisation.

That’s the problem with price controls in feral countries.
If you don’t control the price of stuff they revolt and kill the pollies.
If you do control the price eventually you go bankrupt, they then revolt and kill the pollies.
If you lift the price to stop going bankrupt they then revolt and kill the pollies.
No wonder so many of those countries are military dictatorships.
That way if the people revolt the military kills all the people.
Which if you’re a pollie is better than the alternative.

Germany’s energy U-turn: Coal instead of gas

Berlin has realized it will never again import as much energy from Russia as before the Ukraine war. So the challenge is to wean Germany off its dependence on Russian energy sources, and quickly. The question is how.

Starting this week, German hard coal-fired power stations are restarting operations, which were being phased out because of the hugely detrimental climate impact on a world already ravaged by global warming. Germany’s goal had been to phase out all coal-generated electricity by 2038.

But now, the government is swallowing the bitter pill of allowing coal-fired power back onto the grid. It is hoped that this will replace the gas-fired electricity that currently makes up some 10% of Germany’s overall energy mix.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke of temporary emergency measures “imposed for a very short period of time that don’t take anything away from our climate targets.”

“What must not happen is that we slide into a global renaissance of fossil energy, and coal in particular,” the chancellor warned.

But at first glance, last year’s global data seems to suggest that is precisely what is happening: Never before has the world used so much coal to generate so much electricity. And the International Energy Agency (IEA) warns that the same pattern of high demand and high production will be repeated this year.

Finding other suppliers is not the problem, say German coal importers. These include sources in South Africa, Australia, the US, Colombia and Indonesia, says Bethe. But these various kinds of coal each have different characteristics and qualities, he explains. It’s important to see which mix is the best for the German power stations. And tests are underway.

More difficult perhaps, according to Bethe, are the transport routes for coal. The big sea ports like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Antwerp are all booked out. Inland shipping routes taking coal by ship or train from the big ports to the power stations are at their limit. This is also in part due to Germany’s shortage of skilled labor.

Brown coal comeback as well?

Nice to see Australian mid distance running making a bit of a comeback with Oliver Hoare and Peter Bol winning medals at the Commonwealth games. It is always a bit of a lottery with mid-distance running but the quality and consistency of performances in the mens and womens at Tokyo, the last world championships and the current commonwealth games shows we are getting back. It also shows that you don’t have to be African to win Olympic and world titles. Norway’s Ingerbretson and the UK’s Wightman in the 1500m for men are the current Olympic and world champions.

All we need is someone to pop in the 400m. There are a couple of young kids in the juniors so let us hope.

Why Beijing MISJUDGE the US? Xi Jinping is likely heavily criticized for major diplomatic failure
China Insights

The diplomatic failure has also made the Communist Party Leader Xi Jinping even more defensive. At the Beidaihe summit that is now underway, Xi is likely to come under heavy criticism from his opponents within the party. So why has Beijing engaged in a series of foolish acts? What are the consequences for Taiwan after Pelosi’s departure?

I think you are a bit unfair here, for some, it may not make any difference, but for others, it can and will.
We are running a mid-size business in a regional town, whatever my political views are, if disclosed, it would alienate at least 40% of our customers, going by the voting trend.

Granted, the Cat is not exactly the Age or the NYT but still, you’d be surprised how far-reaching gossip can be.

For the firearms afficionados here, I give you the Dardick Tround

Winston – that’s fascinating, never heard of it before.

Now for the next trick: combine it with MetalStorm technology. You could have an electric detonation round and a motorized rotating cylinder. Fed by magazine at bottom right, fired at top, discharged at bottom left in a continual cycle like a gatling gun. But being electric the rate of fire would be huge.

I had shares in MS once; did not work out. US military politics killed them.

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2022/aug/08/i-will-continue-killing-foreigners-soldier-who-shot-dead-unarmed-australians-treated-as-returning-hero-by-taliban
Hekmatullah, the rogue Afghan soldier who killed three unarmed Australian diggers in Afghanistan a decade ago, is living in a luxury home in the capital Kabul, treated as a “returning hero” by the Taliban who released him from prison.

He has said he does not regret killing Australian soldiers, and has vowed he would again kill Australians, or anyone who opposes the Taliban.

“If I am released I will continue killing foreigners,” Hekmatullah told an official of the former Afghan government when his release was being negotiated.

“I will continue killing Australians and I will kill you as well because you are a puppet of foreigners,” he said.

A former senior official in the democratically elected government of Afghanistan – overthrown in August 2021 – has confirmed to the Guardian Hekmatullah’s return to Afghanistan.

“He was welcomed back to Kabul as a hero … with a house, car, guards, an amnesty for his crimes, his expenses are being paid for. He is being treated as a hero.”

But hey, lets spend 100 million or so on the SAS investigations…

Hekmatullah fled the base into the Baluchi valley and was designated a “high-value” target for the Australian SAS in Afghanistan within 24 hours. He was the sole target of a controversial SAS mission to the village of Darwan in Uruzgan province on 11 September 2012, based on – ultimately flawed – intelligence he was hiding in the village.

The mission was the subject of extensive evidence presented during the long-running defamation trial brought by the former SAS corporal Ben Roberts-Smith, who denies all wrongdoing in relation to an allegation he participated in the murder of an Afghan national during that mission.

Two other Australian SAS soldiers have also been accused of unlawfully killing Afghan nationals during the raid – allegations they deny.

Top Gun has overtaken Titanic at the box office.

Saw Bullet Train yesterday. If you like your graphic violence with a twist of humour then recommended. Train full of assassins trying to get a briefcase full of money. Brad Pitt is the hired retriever and he is trying to change his ways due to ongoing therapy. Who does the briefcase belong to and why is it on the train. Good fight scenes. Particularly liked the pair of brothers one of whom likes discussing Thomas the tank engine characters to analyse people. Couple of surprise cameos and there is a snake involved in the proceedings. Most well known Japanase actor is the one who trained Tom Cruise in Last Samurai. Not giving anything away but that might mean he is fairly good with a sword.

US Senate has just passed a spending bill which amongst other things, doubles the size of their IRS by spending an extra $45 billion. The expenditure is to enable the IRS to collect more tax.Given the numbers, everyone will be in the gun.
As we follow the US as night follows day, expect some bowdlerized version of this in our budget.

They made great tool boxes – to the best of my knowledge, they were being sold as “surplus” after 1945.

Most of the older tool and equipment boxes on the farm are surplus ammo can’s of one description or another. Very well built and they were cheap.

I doubt any of these cans were ever returned from a combat area due to the shipping cost and amount of air you end up shipping back.
