Yes well Bruce, the GOP, as you say, have a lot of experience at undermining Senate appointments. As they are doing right now.

Monty – McConnell has been waving through Biden appointments with none of the 30 hours of “debate” that every single proposed Trump appointment candidate got – except the “acceptable” ones like Wray. They got waved through too. Which at the time was a tell.

The phone book must be indelibly inscribed into the brains of US Senators after those hundreds and hundreds of mandatory 30 hour debates McConnell caused to happen.

The FBI And DOJ Criminalizing Opposition To The Regime Is How The Republic Ends

Yep. One wonders when someone will say “let’s roll”.

People more likely to move to states that reflect political beliefs: Poll (9 Aug)

More than half of Democrats, 55%, said they would consider moving to a state that better reflects their political values, and just slightly below 58% of Republicans said the same, according to the poll.

This is similar to the Partition of India in 1947 when another fanatical religion also moved to their own areas. Kurt Schlichter is increasingly looking more like a prophet than a fiction novellist.

The useful idiots in commie russia, china, iran and everywhere else where dictatorships emerged thought that once they led the charge against the corrupt non-commies they would enjoy the gratitude of the new commie/muzzie overlords. Back when he did during Trump’s term, McConnell helped usher through reams and reams of judicial appointments – at the fastest rate since the Carter administration.

Correct, Monty.

But you are pointing to a squirrel, since the Republicans wanted to seed the judiciary with actual judges instead of Obama’s creatures (who’ve been creating havoc ever since). But what McConnell didn’t want is for the dirty unwashed knuckledragging base to get control of the Republican Party. The bugmen in control wanted to stay in control, so he undermined Trump at every possible occasion to maintain the elite-GOP control of the party.

The GOP elites did the same during the Tea Party era. Unfortunately for them the primary system is laying waste to their guys right now as Trump’s endorsed candidate knock off theirs in droves. That’s because as mentioned upthread Trump is actually representative of the Republican membership, unlike them. The base is pissed off bigly with the GOP insiders.

We have the problem here much worse, since the central presidium of the Liberal Party has control of preselection so that the base gets overridden each time they have the temerity to choose a representative. So consequently the Liberal Party is dying visibly as their voters exit stage right.

The American media and the Democratic Party know the Democrats can’t win a fair election in 2022 or 2024. So they have become agents for the unelected Deep State in the FBI, the Department of Justice and the Internal Revenue Service to harrass and hobble their political opponents.

It’s now the people — voters at the ballot box — versus the Deep State and the media.

Yeah Bruce, I’m not buying your thesis that McConnell is buddies with Biden now. McConnell has always been his own man, which sometimes rubs up wrong against Republicans who are trying to do something that would lessen his personal power – the one thing McConnell will never countenance.

Basically he’s a Littlefinger type, a powerbroker who is essentially in it for himself. That can tend to disappoint ideologues like yourself, who would sacrifice people like him for the cause. That doesn’t mean he’s chucked his lot in with the other side, just that he treats his own power base as more important than what you want.

<strong>Liberal Media Goes Bananas Over FBI Raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Residence

For liberal America, it’s time to pop open the champagne bottles. Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided Donald Trump’s residence at Mar-a-Lago this evening. Spencer wrote up the “siege” that’s taken place in Florida. FBI agents arrived unannounced and broke into the safe on the property. It was reportedly empty. The former president was not in the state; he’s in Trump Tower now. That’s another location that could be targeted within the coming days since it’s clear that the FBI has gone off the rails to prevent a duly elected president from running for office again. Trump’s 2024 plans are no secret, and it’s clear that this raid is the clearest example of the Department of Justice’s desperation in trying to derail a man from running for president again

Liberal media figures and activists cheered, of course. Some want to flash forward to the “perp walk.”

Due process of law is an alien concept to liberal America when it comes to people with whom they share a deep hatred. Michael Moore, Sunny Hostin, and the rest of this miserable camp were doing cartwheels.

Sophisticated models provide a roadmap for Southern Africa’s clean energy future (Phys.org, 8 Aug)

Researchers at UC Santa Barbara led an international team that analyzed the region’s resources and power grid. Using this data, they developed an energy portfolio that most effectively meets Southern Africa’s 2040 energy requirements, finding that wind and solar are the region’s most cost-effective options. What’s more, their model’s proposal effectively freezes greenhouse gas emissions at 2020 levels while doubling the amount of electricity the grid can produce.

First Photo: Agent With Machine Gun Photographed Outside Of Trump’s Palm Beach Resort Mar-a-Lago During FBI Raid

This was the scene outside the Palm Beach resort Mar-a-Lago owned by Donald Trump on Monday night soon after the former president revealed the FBI had launched a raid on his property.

The image, snapped by local media WPTV, show what appears to be a plain-clothed Secret Service agent with his weapon — an automatic machine gun — as he paraded outside the property.

An unmarked vehicle is also in the picture exiting Mar-a-Lago.

A source with knowledge of the circumstances of the raid said “whatever the FBI uncovered, it could ultimately lead to unsuspected new evidence in both of the investigations.”

“However, any decision to launch a raid like this is not ever made without the full consent of the nation’s top law enforcement official,” the insider told RadarOnline.com

“That is Attorney General Merrick Garland and in order for Garland to give the green light on a raid of this magnitude, he needs to be convinced that his deputies had enough evidence of the commission of a criminal offense,” the source added. “It’s not just Garland’s view, either. A judge would have had to view the search warrant request from the Department of Justice and issued the order to search for and seize property.”

David McCullough, bestselling author and renowned historian who won Pulitzer Prizes for his biographies of presidents John Adams and Harry Truman, has died at the age of 89.

McCullough died on Sunday at his home in Hingham, Massachusetts, surrounded by his five children, according to a Facebook page maintained by his publisher, Simon and Schuster.

McCullough was known for writing several deeply researched and popular works about important American figures and points in history such as the building of the Brooklyn Bridge and the first flight by the Wright Brothers.

“As an historian, he paints with words, giving us pictures of the American people that live, breathe, and above all, confront the fundamental issues of courage, achievement, and moral character,” the citation for his honorary degree from Yale University read, according to his biography on the Simon and Schuster website.

McCullough won a Pulitzer Prize in 1993 for Truman, a biography about the 33rd president of the United States and another Pulitzer in 2002 for John Adams, a biography about the second US president.

McCullough also earned National Book Awards for the The Path Between the Seas: The Creation of the Panama Canal and Mornings on Horseback.

In 2016, McCullough was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian award.

McCullough was born in Pittsburgh in 1933. He attended Yale University where he earned an English literature degree. After school, he moved to New York City and got a job with Sports Illustrated.

He married Rosalee Barnes in 1954 and the couple had five children. Rosalee Barnes McCullough died in June at the age of 89.

Trump confirms FBI ‘raided and occupied’ his Florida home, Mar-a-Lago

A source who was at Mar-a-Lago at the time of the FBI raid told The Post that it was “like the scene of a ‘Die Hard’ movie” as armored cars came screeching up to the Palm Beach resort Monday morning and “at least 100” FBI agents charged into Trump’s home.

“It was totally unexpected,” the source said. “The place was mostly closed today, so the only people there were close personal friends of Trump.

The staff were absolutely terrified.”

The former president was at Trump Tower in New York at the time of the raid, Post sources said.

Justice Department spokesperson Dena Iverson declined to comment on the search, including about whether Attorney General Merrick Garland had personally authorized the search.

Despite Trump’s potential law-breaking, several GOP lawmakers have lined up behind him to denounce the Justice Department and FBI’s unannounced search.

“I’ve seen enough,” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said in a statement. “The Department of Justice has reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization.”

He threatened to conduct “immediate oversight” of the department and “leave no stone unturned” if Republicans take back the House.

“Attorney General Garland, preserve your documents and clear your calendar.”

Right-wing Rep. Lauren Boebert also attacked the FBI, saying the GOP must set up a Select Committee to investigate the “politically-motivated” raid.

The #DepartmentOfInjustice has been weaponized against the American people,” she tweeted. “We’ve known this for awhile but they no longer are trying to hide it.”

– Millions of people walking into our country unchecked. A world power poisoning us everyday. People not having enough resources to fill their cars and pantries. Inflation eating away at our souls. We probably are about to go war. Crime out of control. Yet the most important thing to our government is a former president?

– This is so wrong. The government ignored the criminal behavior of the Biden’s that is evidenced on Hunter’s laptop – they also ignore how Hillary failed to safeguard confidential records on her personal server; but they make an unannounced raid on Trump’s home when he isn’t there. This should only galvanize the whole country against the democrats in order to prevent things from getting worse.

FBI claims it is to retrieve classified documents requested by the National Archives. Did anybody take the time to see if the evidence boxes the FBI brought with them were empty or did the FBI bring in the evidence they were going to “look” for?

– The FBI is providing distraction from the failing economy and inept handling of the DC Gov’t. by the Biden regime.
It further provides cover for the failure of the FBI to act on the Hunter Biden lap evidence and to examine the business deals of the son of Nancy, Paul Pelosi jr. who appears to be trading influence in his Asian business deals!

– 87,000 new IRS pencil pushers are not there to go after billionaires and millionaires, there’s only a few hundred of those in America.

The Internal Revenue Service currently has around 70,000 agents. The new bill the Dems have just put through Congress will giver the IRS another 80,000 agents. That is, the IRS’s ability to audit Americans is to be more than doubled.

The speculation in Washington is that 90% of the new resources will be used against Americans earning less than $US200,000 – in other words, to wage war on the American middle class.

The corrupt old Washington oligarchy is panicking. It is now at war with middle America.

It’s possible because 90% of the American media has given up its old job of being the public’s eyes and ears and is now the frontline defender of the old order. Whatever it takes – because Trump.

McCarthy vows to investigate Garland over Trump raid: ‘Preserve your documents’

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy publicly warned Attorney General Merrick Garland on Monday night that he faces an investigation over the FBI’s raid of former President Trump’s home if Republicans gain the majority in the November elections.

“Attorney General Garland: Preserve your documents and clear your calendar,” Mr. McCarthy said on Twitter. “When Republicans take back the House, we will conduct immediate oversight of this department, follow the facts, and leave no stone unturned.”

The California Republican said after the raid of Mr. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, “I’ve seen enough.”

“The Department of Justice has reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization,” he said.

Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel added that the raid shows why voters need to elect Republicans in the fall.

“Absolute power corrupts absolutely,” she said.

“Countless times we have examples of Democrats flouting the law and abusing power with no recourse. Democrats continually weaponize the bureaucracy against Republicans. This raid is outrageous. This abuse of power must stop and the only way to do that is to elect Republicans in November,” Ms. McDaniel said.

Dershowitz: DOJ Can’t Use Mar-a-Lago Evidence if FBI Raid Improper

Harvard Law School professor emeritus and noted criminal defense attorney Alan Dershowitz said Monday evening that the evidence seized by the FBI in a raid on former President Donald Trump’s home would be ruled out if the raid were improper.

After telling Newsmax the FBI raid appeared to be “misconduct,” absent further evidence, Dershowitz went on to explain:

I just hope this raid has a justification. If it doesn’t have a justification, the material seized in it will be suppressed. … The law is clear: you don’t engage in a raid unless you’ve exhausted all of the other remedies. … Raids are not a first recourse in America. They’re a last recourse. And so the government will have to show a court, eventually, that they exhausted all other possibilities or they had a reasonable basis for believing that the evidence would be destroyed if it was sought in the normal legal course of events, through subpoena.

Federal courts follow the exclusionary rule in criminal prosecutions, which is that evidence seized in violation of the Fourth Amendment must usually be excluded from a prosecution, even if it implicates the defendant in a crime. The FBI obtained a search warrant, whose validity is presumed, but which may, Dershowitz suggested, have been obtained on an improper basis.

If the FBI and the DOJ knew that the evidence seized from the raid on Mar-a-Lago Monday were likely to be suppressed, that would lend weight to the speculation that the purpose was political, rather than to pursue the truth in a criminal investigation.

Due process of law is an alien concept to liberal America when it comes to people with whom they share a deep hatred.

Mmyes, this from the movement that regularly chanted “LOCK HER UP” at rallies, and will no doubt do so again prior to the next election.

And when was “she” locked up? Never. When was her home raided to find those 30,000 emails for the National Archives? Never.

End of the Republic

With the FBI raid on Trump’s home, America has fallen into the abyss.

When the FBI raided Donald Trump’s home on Monday, a key aspect of what made the United States of America great and free has been lost, and likely cannot be recovered. John Adams and Thomas Jefferson detested one another for years before their eventual reconciliation, but neither one used the agencies of the U.S. government to hound, persecute or discredit the other. Other bitter political opponents throughout the history of the republic have never before used the government’s own mechanisms of justice to do injustice to their foes.

Joe Biden, Merrick Garland and their henchmen have brought America to a new phase of its history, and it is not likely to be one that is marked by respect for the rule of law or defense of the rights of individual citizens. Instead, we are entering an ugly age of authoritarianism, in which the brute force of the state is used to bend the people to the will of the tyrant.

Trump announced on Monday, “These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents. Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before. After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate.”

The 45th president is not given to understatement, but the FBI raid on his home is much more than just unnecessary and inappropriate. It is criminal. The FBI that was heavily involved in trying to frame and destroy Trump in the Russian Collusion hoax is now trying once again to destroy him, apparently by claiming that he improperly took classified material from the White House. They never cared when Hillary Clinton misused classified material on a grand scale; what is the difference? They’re also likely trying to find something to link him more firmly to the January 6 “insurrection” that never was. The Left’s January 6 narrative has been full of holes from the beginning: Trump told the demonstrators to proceed peacefully, the people who entered the Capitol had no weapons, and no one had sketched out any kind of plan to do what the Left continues to claim that Trump was trying to do all along, overthrow the government and rule as a dictator.

But Joe Biden’s handlers are desperately afraid that Trump will return to the White House on January 20, 2025 and that things will go harder for them next time than they did during his first term. They’re afraid that a vengeful Trump will do a genuine and thorough housecleaning of the desperately corrupt and compromised Washington bureaucracy, and that many of them will, quite justly, end up out of power, and some of them will, even more justly, end up in prison. So they’ve determined to pre-emptively do the same to Trump. If they can’t actually find anything to prosecute him for (and Lord knows they’ve tried, this is the most investigated and poked and prodded and scrutinized man in American history, and still those who hate him have nothing), then at very least they hope to taint Trump so completely in the eyes of the distracted and indifferent public that they will have a fighting chance in 2024.

This is banana republic stuff. This is the kind of thing that moved Woodrow Wilson to intervene militarily in Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua, explaining: “We are friends of constitutional government in America; we are more than its friends, we are its champions. I am going to teach the South American republics to elect good men.” Wilson was an authoritarian scoundrel and one of the worst presidents we have ever endured, but much as he hated Theodore Roosevelt and feared that he would be reelected to the presidency in 1920 (instead, Roosevelt died in 1919), Wilson never had rogue government agents raid Roosevelt’s home looking for something they could use to pin some crime on him.

Merrick Garland recently signaled that something like this was in the offing, when he emphasized that no one was above the law and anyone could be prosecuted. No one is above that law, that is, except Hillary Clinton, and Hunter Biden, and all the FBI officials who have been implicated in the Russian Collusion hoax, and all the other Leftists who have escaped and will continue to escape prosecution because they hold what the elites consider to be acceptable political opinions.

The two-tier justice system that aggressively prosecutes conservatives while turning a blind eye to Leftists who have committed similar or worse crimes is now out in the open. Trump did nothing, but the FBI will find some crime for which the Justice Department will prosecute him. Hillary Clinton and Hunter Biden did a great deal, but none of it matters to corrupt officials who share their worldview.

The lesson is clear: in America today, in the corrupt kleptocracy of Joe Biden, you have to have the right opinions. Then all doors will open for you and you can even break laws with impunity, and have no fear of prosecution. But if you dare to dissent from the opinions of the elites, prepare to be hounded by the new super-IRS and the weaponized FBI, and you’ll face raids, and prison, and who knows what else is coming.

Many conservatives are saying that this ensures Trump’s victory in 2024. But what makes them think that this corrupt regime will allow the man whom they fear and hate above all others return to the White House? It’s clear now. They will stop at nothing.

This is no longer a republic, except of the banana variety. It may be a republic again someday, but for now, the great American experiment is over. Born July 4, 1776 in Philadelphia, died August 8, 2022, in Mar-A-Lago, at the hands of Joe Biden, Merrick Garland, and Christopher Wray.

This is a provocation. They are trying to get a reaction that allows a further crackdown.

Don’t take the bait.

My overall sense of what happened at Mar-a-Lago is that this is a provocation.

If New York Times reporting is right — and they never err on the side of being soft on Trump — then this raid was over documents the National Archives thinks Trump should not have, or perhaps classified documents in his possession. That is not something the FBI raids major political candidates over — See, In Re Hillary Rodham Clinton.

This is a provocation. They are trying to get a reaction that allows a further crackdown. See, In Re J6.

It’s also a provocation to get Trump to declare his candidacy for President before the midterms. Democrats would love to turn 2022 into a referendum on Trump rather than the deliberate destruction of the national borders and inflation.

Would the FBI and DOJ do such a thing? Aren’t they “above” politics? The then FBI Director James Comey admitted to trying to set up the new President Trump by alerting him to the Steele Dossier, and then leaked the story of the briefing to CNN, which gave license to report on the false allegations in the dossier. So yes, the FBI and DOJ would do such a thing, and have done such a thing to Trump.

I flipped back and forth between CNN and MSNBC. At least when I watched, they were not engaging in the expected celebrations. There was a palpable dread that this could backfire against the Democrats. Bigly.

Why the growing number of vigilantes in response to youth crime in Townsville is worrying the Indigenous community

. Jennifer Board, a 22-year-old woman, was killed in a traffic accident after vigilantes went in pursuit of a stolen car
. Townsville has had a long history of issues with youth crime
. Some in the community believe police need more power, but Indigenous communities are worried over growing racial tensions

The operation is the Queensland Police Service’s response to a fatality last month, which has re-opened deep divisions in the community over the extent of youth crime and the seeming inability of authorities to bring it under control.

“It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for President in 2024, especially based on recent polls, and who will likewise do anything to stop Republicans and Conservatives in the upcoming Midterm Elections. Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries. Sadly, America has now become one of those Countries, corrupt at a level not seen before. They even broke into my safe! What is the difference between this and Watergate, where operatives broke into the Democrat National Committee? Here, in reverse, Democrats broke into the home of the 45th President of the United States,” he added.

As someone above said, it makes sense. Proper musicians (not rappers), especially those who are classically trained or at least can read music, are often also intuitive at mathematics. It is partly about being able to translate symbols into something else, I suppose.

Re the Trump raid, I am at a loss to understand what he is supposed to have done. US Presidents have a very different role to say, our PM. He or she is the supreme arbiter of what is and what is not ‘classified.’ Therefore, Trump cannot ever be prosecuted for possessing ‘classified’ documents from his Presidency, because he was the sole arbiter of their status while he was President, and had and has the right to read them and deal with them as he sees fit.

That doesn’t mean that he can spray military secrets around willy-nilly, but nobody is claiming that he did. Nobody is claiming anything concrete at all. Legally, it’s a nothingburger.

The Dimmocrats are in dangerous territory here. What if a future Republican President raided Obummer’s or Biden’s house? The shrieks would be heard on Pluto.

US politics are always far more noisy and strongly contested than ours, so it is prudent not to get over-excited about things that would be unthinkable here. But what with people trying to murder members of the Supreme Court and now this, it is safe to say that there is a titanic power struggle underway in the most powerful country in the West. The silent and conservative (but armed) citizenry have largely stayed out of it so far, but the Left is pushing its luck very hard.

The Democrats are desperate to win in November and they are taking the United States down the drain in order to forcefully impose their will, or should I say the Great Reset. On the approaching 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, The Democrats are toying with what will most likely end in a civil war and the destruction of the United States. Never in the entire history of the United States has a former president been indicted for any criminal conduct. This has not been because there was never such an incident. Most importantly, the historic precedent is that post-term indictment is NOT legally allowed.

The timeline seems to be:

– Trump takes reams of classified documents with him after he leaves the White House
– Biden takes office
– US govt (not sure which bit) asks Trump nicely for classified documents to be returned
– Trump refuses
– govt asks less nicely, more of a threat
– Trump sends 15 boxes of classified documents back
– FBI figures out (through a leak/mole?) that there are more classified documents at Mar-A-Lago
– FBI gets a warrant from a federal judge and raids Mar-A-Lago
– FBI secures those extra documents… and leaves everything else

I am not sure that there is a lot to this, to be fair, but there is probably more to this story than meets the eye. Garland has so far been extremely cautious, so much so that he has annoyed Democrats, so this move is a massive and sudden escalation. You would suspect there is a big charge sheet being compiled for multiple Trumpists, if not Trump himself.

This FBI.

In March 1971, the residential office of an FBI agent in Media, Pennsylvania was burgled by a group calling itself the Citizens’ Commission to Investigate the FBI. Numerous files were taken and distributed to a range of newspapers, including The Harvard Crimson. The files detailed the FBI’s extensive COINTELPRO program, which included investigations into lives of ordinary citizens—including a black student group at a Pennsylvania military college and the daughter of Congressman Henry S. Reuss of Wisconsin. The country was “jolted” by the revelations, which included assassinations of political activists, and the actions were denounced by members of the Congress, including House Majority Leader Hale Boggs. The phones of some members of the Congress, including Boggs, had allegedly been tapped.

Jones made some absolutely disgraceful allegations about Sandy Hook. However, in the US , it matters if there is no proof of malicious intent and the loon (Jones) believed what he said. How did they prove Jones didn’t believe his delusion? There’s no evidence Jones was acting dishonestly and malicioiusly and therefore should not have lost the case under American defamation laws. It was a politcal decision by the jury and should be overturned if it goes to appeal.

JC,
You might not have picked up on the bit where Jones said the kids were not actually killed and the whole thing was basically a false flag type event. He was saying, repeatedly, that the parents were lying.

Kelly interviewed Jones and then interviewed on of the parents who pointed out he had held the dead body of his son on the day of the shooting. One of Jones’s guys then picked up on that and said that could not have happened. Jones then, without any fact checking, carried on accusing the father about lying about holding his dead son. Imagine being a Dad and being told you did not hold your dead son’s body. It was that father that brought the recent case.

Not only that the parents received death threats and were accused of being actors.

Scum as far as I am concerned.

FBI raid on Trump compound stands in stark contrast to Clinton treatment years earlier

Legal experts question why FBI conducted raid and didn’t use subpoena, especially when Hillary Clinton’s lawyer got to hold classified materials in his safe.

The official word so far that the FBI raided Donald Trump’s compound at Mar-a-Lago looking for classified documents stands in sharp contrast to the way the bureau and Justice Department acted seven years ago when similar questions arose about Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email.

Back then in the summer of 2015, there was no raid of Mrs. Clinton’s home in Chappaqua, N.Y., where the server has been operated. In fact, the former secretary of state’s lawyer, David Kendall, was allowed to keep a thumb drive of the archive of her inbox — complete with classified materials — inside his office.

The FBI even approved a special safe for Kendall to use to store the classified materials. In the end, Mrs. Clinton faced no prosecution because then-FBI Director James Comey refused to send the matter to DOJ even though he declared her handling of classified emails as reckless.

The disparate handling of two cases involving famous figures led immediately to charges Monday night that the FBI was acting with a political double standard.

Conservative radio and TV host Mark Levin, former chief of staff to Reagan Attorney General Ed Meese, called the raid Monday on Trump’s home and office in Florida “an unprecedented act of state-sponsored lawlessness.”

“Millions have rightly lost faith in the DOJ, FBI, media, and Congress, and this is beyond anything I can ever recall,” he said in a tweet, adding the raid left the perception Joe Biden or his administration was seeking to harm the man who might run against him again in 2024.

“The Biden Administration raid on former President Trump’s Florida home is a bald attack on our republic. The Democrat Party is dragging us into the Third World,” Levin’s tweet added.

Esteemed Harvard law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz, a lifelong Democrat who voted for Biden but also defended Trump during impeachment, said the raid was an aberration, given that Trump wasn’t even in Florida. A grand jury subpoena, he said, would have been more appropriate.

Dershowitz said absent convincing proof that Trump was planning to destroy evidence, the Biden DOJ and FBI risked committing an abuse of power with the raid.

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley, another Democrat who also defended Trump during impeachment, agreed the raid raised serious questions.

“The question is why a subpoena would not suffice, particularly when the subject is not present at the location,” Turley tweeted. “Instead, a raid was ordered to scope up boxes of potential sensitive documents that were not reviewable at the scene.”

The raid was approved by the main Justice Department, involved a court-approved warrant and is part of an investigation in Washington D.C. into the former president’s handling of classified information, two sources told Just the News.

Eric Trump, the president’s son, confirmed the FBI told Trump’s staff they were searching for documents the National Archives believed were classified and missing. He said the FBI brought a safe cracker and cracked open a safe but found nothing. The younger Trump said the FBI removed boxes of documents without looking through them.

Turley said Eric Trump’s mention of the safe raised only more troubling questions. Citing sources that indicate that the “safe was opened by a safe cracker but was found empty,” he tweeted: “That only highlights questions of any evidence of direct involvement by Trump and any [intentional] effort at concealment.”

Any suggestions that criminal charges against Trump are forthcoming are vastly premature, Turley cautioned.

“We cannot assume that criminal charges are inevitable after such a raid,” he tweeted. “On MSNBC, a host said that the ‘orange jumpsuit may be coming.’ That is rather premature given history of prosecutions in this area and the absence of confirmed evidence.”

There have been some prosecutions under the Presidential Records Act of officials who removed official records or espionage charges for those who stole classified information. But those have been rare.

The most famous involved President Bill Clinton’s former National Security Advisor Sandy Berger, who removed sensitive documents from the National Archives by concealing them inside his clothing. He reached a plea deal that spared him prison time in favor of probation, a fine and community service.

Two sources, both briefed on the raid, told Just the News the agents who executed the search were from the Washington Field Office, the same office that FBI whistleblowers recently complained to Sen. Charles Grassley was involved in political meddling in investigations involving Trump and Hunter Biden. The former assistant agent in charge of that office was recently removed from his job.

The agents were seeking evidence related to whether Trump removed classified documents from the White House to his compound at Mar-a-Lago, the sources said. The National Archives recently lodged a complaint with the FBI regarding possible mishandling of documents, officials have previously confirmed. The sources said at least one other witness may have raised questions about presidential records at the Florida compound.

The sources also cautioned that while the records case was the stated pretext for the search, the agents might find evidence in the boxes they removed that could relate to other investigations the FBI is looking into, like the Jan. 6 Capitol riots.

“Agents have latitude to seize things that match the description of items being sought in the warrant that later turn out to be relevant to other cases,” one source cautioned.

Dershowitz said the danger of such a raid, if excessive, is that it could lead to a fishing expedition. “Unless there’s evidence that we’re not aware of, this is improper and it is misconduct,” he told Newsmax on Monday evening.

If abuses are later discovered, evidence can be suppressed under the Fourth Amendment, he added.

Not Raided by FBI: Bidens, Clintons, Russia Hoaxers, Black Lives Matter

The shocking raid Monday of former President Donald Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago, Florida, stood in stark contrast to the many Trump opponents that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has not raided despite public evidence of alleged misconduct.

They include:

Hunter Biden and Joe Biden: The FBI has been in possession of Hunter’s laptop since 2019, which contains evidence that Hunter used Joe’s position to conduct lucrative foreign business. He also cut his dad into deals and commingled their funds.

Hillary Clinton: Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton mishandled classified information on a private server she likely used to hide efforts to use her office to raise money for her family’s foundation. She was infamously excused by the FBI.

Marc Elias and the Russia hoaxers: Elias, a lawyer for Democrats, helped arrange the so-called Russia “dossier,” which was then used to launch fraudulent and abusive investigations of Trump and his campaign. He has never been brought to justice.

James Clapper and John Brennan: The “Statler and Waldorf” of deep-state cable pundits fueled the Russia hoax and then cited their intelligence credentials to claim, falsely, that Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation in 2020.

Adam Schiff: Schiff lied to the public about his role in instigating the first Trump impeachment, then used his committee’s report to spy on members of the committee and the president’s lawyer, and failed to appear before the Judiciary Committee.

Kamala Harris: As the country reeled from riots in the summer of 2020, then-Sen. Harris (D-CA) called on supporters to bail out rioters in Minneapolis, likely encouraging more violence. She also referred to law enforcement as a “paramilitary.”

Black Lives Matter: Amid evidence that the left-wing group has been abusing its charitable status, even liberal states issued warnings to the group. But though the movement’s scope is nationwide, the FBI or DOJ have yet to do anything about it.

James Comey and Andrew McCabe: Amid evidence that the former FBI director and deputy director, respectively, had leaked to the media, they were let off the hook by internal investigations and have enjoyed speaking fees and cable slots.

By contrast, Trump allies past and present — such as Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, Peter Navarro, and others — have been subjected to spectacular raids, often leaked to friendly media ahead of time, over relatively minor or unrelated allegations.

I am a huge fan of the first four albums, dropping off after. One of the things I admire is that they worked hard and made a shitload of money – and doing a 50 date tour of the US is not exactly lotus land.

I was reminded of this recently when I heard that the word ‘faggot’ had been removed from a Dire Straits song, Money for Nothing. Working class guys are no longer allowed to use it in relation to fluffy haired rich kids.

Firstly, this is a classic example of what I wrote above, everything in Monty’s limited adolescent world is defined by ideology, he doesn’t give a shit about truth or what is right and wrong.

Secondly, Dershowitz is a registered Democrat (and remains one) and voted for Hillary in 2016. He is NOT a Republican and is hardly far-right. He does care about the constitution and he defends Trump’s constitutional rights, this doesn’t mean he votes for Trump, but clearly in Monty the Moron’s adolescent world, Trump or any other person on the right doesn’t deserve any legal representation.

GO FOR IT.
