He went on to say that a heap of documents were declassified at the end of the former administration but the national archives are refusing to release them.

They contradict the ever-so-precious “narrative”?

The Raid: Difference Between Trump and Clinton

What kind of evidence was the FBI looking for yesterday? Classified material.

So, now, conservatives and Trump supporters are enraged, while liberals and leftists on social media – specifically Twitter – are saying that we are hypocrites, since, after all, we have been shouting “lock her up” ever since it was acknowledged by this very same FBI that Hillary Clinton commissioned an unsecured server to be built in her Chappaqua, NY home and allowed classified material to be routed through it so that anyone, anywhere could have access to it.

Same crime, right? Probably not.

Consider these things. Assuming that Trump did have allegedly classified material in his possession, when did he acquire it? It had to be sometime before Inauguration Day 2021, meaning when he was still the POTUS.

And guess what! Any sitting POTUS has the intrinsic authority to declassify any classified material.

That’s right.

Therefore, I’m guessing that Trump declassified any previously classified material that may have been in his possession in 2022.

Authority. And Power. That’s what separates these cases. He had [sic] it and she didn’t.

But I’m just speculating – which, in itself, has damn near become a crime.

The NSA oughta to stop snooping on civilians.

Making it military explicitly will make it so.

It once was explicitly so, and all “incidental” collection of material involving US citizens had to be isolated and “masked”. That only lasts until a suitably venal administration sets up an “unmasking” procedure based on warrants from a special court. Warrants that an FBI lawyer corrupted, by altering base documentation.

Sound familiar?

As for “military explicitly”, I give you General “Thoroughly Modern” Milley. Do you think that he would have resisted, as the then head of the NSA did?

All of the above, but compliance on PT is about 50/50. Far less masks in the mornings, before peak hour. More in the afternoon when ‘Authorised Officers’ are out of bed.

Hillary Clinton Flaunts Her Democrat Privilege, Peddles ‘But Her Emails’ Swag the Day After Mar-a-Lago Raid

Damn, it’s good to be a Democrat! The very day after news broke of a blatantly partisan FBI raid on the home of former President Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton rubbed the furious nation’s face in her Lefty privilege.

Clinton — or whoever runs her Twitter account — thought today was a good day to pimp her swag celebrating that time DOJ let her skate after she destroyed 33,000 emails. This, even though the emails were under subpoena, and hundreds of them contained classified material that then-Secretary of State Clinton had improperly handled. Yet she suffered no legal consequences for her obvious crime.

However, Donald Trump has been accused of removing classified material from the White House — a flimsy pretext at best — and has now had his home raided and his personal safe broken into by the establishment’s weaponized FBI.

America woke up furious today. But Clinton saw an opportunity:

“Every ‘But her emails’ hat or shirt sold helps @onwardtogether [Hillary’s current slush fund for promoting hard-Left politics] partners defend democracy, build a progressive bench, and fight for our values. Just saying!” tweeted the failed presidential candidate, or the minions running her account:

Apologies to my editor, but the cast-iron t*ts on this b*tch are simply unbelievable. I guess she never got over her butthurt from 2016.

TODAY’S ENERGY TUTORIAL

I’ve discovered a wonderful energy data tool, ElectricityMaps.com, that offers interactive real-time and historical maps of electricity production and consumption around the world (insofar as data exist, which it doesn’t for China and other key places). Check it out for yourself.

I want to draw a contrast between “green energy” Germany and France as of this morning (though use the time-slide in the lower left hand corner of the site and you’ll see that today’s contrast goes back years). As you will see, France has a much lower carbon-intensity (the amount of energy per unit of economic activity) than Germany, which boasts more “renewable” power than France. Gee—I wonder why that is? Nuclear power you say? A thing to remember as we emulate Germany rather than France in our “net-zero” mania.

While the Swamp pleasures itself, the US’s external enemies capitalise on the real-time failure of the Republic:

US partisan struggle further escalates, ‘political system more dysfunctional’ as Trump’s Mar-a-Lago searched by FBI
[Global Times]

CCP slanted and misunderstands the rough-and-tumble of Western politics, but a surprisingly accurate summation of the shit going down.

As always, Global Times quotes experts:

Lü said most Republicans decided to ally themselves with Trump long ago due to the irreplaceable and unshakable political influence and high popularity that Trump holds among conservative American voters, adding that they will try their best to voice their support to the former president and criticize the Biden administration and Democrats.

“Democrats, especially Biden, needs to be aware that they are not clean, and it’s a pretty sure bet the Republicans will take over the House after the midterm election, so Biden will have a difficult second half of his term, and he also needs to take the risk of revenge from the Republicans.”

Biden gets a semi-official sneering, but the CCP line is all about the US dysfunction. An anonymous ‘expert’ opines:

Americans will keep having a dysfunctional country caused by endless partisan struggle, he said, adding that “With the worsening political environment, if US lawmakers one day physically fight with each other in the Capitol Hill, I won’t be surprised.”

Giving comfort to your enemies, writ large…

never underestimate government and elites abilities to cock up repeatedly.

Well, it costs them nothing when they make a mistake (no normal person is so cavalier with their own limited resources), they have no fear for their reputations (they only sniff each others’ farts, and the MSM wants to join them in their rarified but methane drenched atmosphere so they make the clownfish look like sharks), and their performances are policed by their peers (and none of them will be too severe in their criticism of someone upon whose forgiveness they might rely upon later).

Add to this is that they simply have neither the experience to formulate and manage a plan, nor the temperament to give it the ongoing attention implementing it requires. When things start to go off the rails they get bored. And they can always put things off to next time because resources are ever replenished at the cost to the anonymous taxpayer.

For all their shared traits of arrogance, misanthropy, susceptibility to delusions of grandeur, need to be play the hero etc, it is possible that the only difference between our elites and some of the worst tyrants in history is that the latter possess just a tiny fragment more staying power.

Re Trump/De Santis in 2024. This reply is from Prof James Allan when I posed the same question to him.

The President and the Vice President can’t be from the same State. So that is a roadblock to this scenario. I can’t see DeSantis leaving Florida, as he’s the Governor. And do you see a man like Trump leaving?

Fact check: an oversimplification.
There’s no Constitutional bar on the President and VP being from the same state.
But there is a rule that Electoral College delegates from a state can’t vote for both a President and a VP from their own state.
So if Trump and De Santis ran while both were residents of Florida, the 29 Florida delegates couldn’t vote for both of them. In a close race that could be a real problem.
So practically it won’t happen. Trump/De Santis won’t occur unless one of them changes residency. Probably politically easier for Trump, but query whether he’d do it.

Must be a Lot of Cross Dressers in the American FBI

FBI searched Melania’s wardrobe, spent hours in Trump’s private office during Mar-a-Lago raid

By Miranda Devine

FBI agents scoured Melania Trump’s wardrobe and spent several hours combing through Donald Trump’s private office, breaking open his safe and rifling through drawers when they raided the former First Family’s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida Monday morning.

The Post has learned that the search warrant used by the FBI to enter the palatial Palm Beach property focused solely on presidential records and evidence of classified information being stored there.

A source close to the former president expressed concern that FBI agents or DOJ lawyers conducting the search could have “planted stuff” because they would not allow Trump’s attorneys inside the 128-room building to observe the operation, which lasted more than nine hours.

The raid by over 30 plain clothes agents from the Southern District of Florida and the FBI’s Washington Field Office extended through the Trump family’s entire 3,000-square-foot private quarters, as well as to a separate office and safe, and a locked basement storage room in which 15 cardboard boxes of material from the White House were stored.

Feds arrived at 9 a.m. and didn’t leave until 6:30 p.m.

An eyewitness to the raid said all of the boxes were confiscated by federal agents Monday, but it is unknown if anything else was taken as no itemized list of items was provided by the FBI.

The boxes contain documents and mementos from Trump’s presidency, reportedly including letters from Barack Obama and Kim Jong Un, and other correspondence with world leaders.

A legal source said that the boxes had been packed up by the General Services Administration and shipped to Mar-a-Lago when Trump left office in January 2020.

Trump’s attorneys, led by Evan Corcoran, had been cooperating fully with federal authorities on the return of the documents to the National Archives and Records Administration, according to sources.

The demeanor of the three DOJ lawyers who accompanied the FBI was described by one eyewitness as “arrogant,” and they repeatedly told Trump representatives: “We have full access to everything. We can go everywhere.”

From the Comments

– Apparently – the FBI raided Melania’s wardrobe as Biden had asked them to snatch a few undergarments for Hunter to play with. To be continued,

Rep. Scott Perry says FBI seized his cell phone — one day after Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home raided

Staunch Donald Trump ally Rep. Scott Perry said FBI agents stopped him and seized his cell phone one day after the federal agency raided the former president’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

Perry, a Republican from Pennsylvania, told Fox News that while traveling with his family on Tuesday, three FBI agents approached him, issued him a warrant and demanded he hand over his phone.

“They made no attempt to contact my lawyer, who would have made arrangements for them to have my phone if that was their wish,” he said in a statement to the news outlet.

“I’m outraged — though not surprised — that the FBI under the direction of Merrick Garland’s DOJ, would seize the phone of a sitting Member of Congress.

“My phone contains info about my legislative and political activities, and personal/private discussions with my wife, family, constituents, and friends. None of this is the government’s business.”

The five-term congressman added, “as with President Trump last night, DOJ chose this unnecessary and aggressive action instead of simply contacting my attorneys.”

New IIHS Side-Impact Crash Test Shows Troubling Sedan, Wagon Results

The Subaru Outback got the top score of Good, while several sedans didn’t do as well, which the safety group said was partly because of ride height.

Only the 2022 Subaru Outback (pictured above) was given the top score of Good, while the Chevrolet Malibu, Nissan Altima, and Toyota Camry were all rated Poor in the new test. Subaru’s four-door sedan, the Legacy, was not included in this batch of testing.

IIHS announced in November 2019 that it would change its side-impact test to better reflect real-world crashes where a tall SUV or a pickup truck hits a smaller vehicle. IIHS said that the side-impact test it was using had been in place since 2003, and automakers had designed their vehicles to pass it. This meant that customers could not distinguish which vehicles performed better in a crash. IIHS believes its updated test will force similar changes on the auto industry in the future.

The FBI’s Dangerous Trump Search

Merrick Garland is taking the U.S. down a perilous path.

By WSJ The Editorial Board

Monday’s unannounced Federal Bureau of Investigation search of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home isn’t a moment for anyone to cheer. The Justice Department is unleashing political furies it can’t control and may not understand, and the risks for the department and the country are as great as they are for Mr. Trump.

As everyone knows by now, an FBI law-enforcement action of this kind against a former American President is unprecedented. Monday’s search needed a judicial warrant in service of probable cause in a criminal probe. The Justice Department has provided few details beyond what has been leaked to reporters, so it is hard to judge what the FBI was looking for.

The media leaks say the search is related to potential mishandling of classified documents or violations of the Presidential Records Act. If that is true, then the raid looks like prosecutorial overkill and a bad mistake. Document disputes are typically settled in negotiation, and that is how Mr. Trump’s disagreement with the National Archives had been proceeding.

Mr. Trump has already returned 15 boxes of documents, but the National Archives wants to know if the former President retained classified material he shouldn’t have. This is what appears to have triggered the FBI search, but it’s far from clear why this couldn’t be settled cooperatively, or at most with a subpoena.

Didn’t someone at Justice point out that a search in this case would draw comparisons to Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of classified information before her 2016 presidential campaign? She was never prosecuted, as Mr. Trump was quick to point out. Unless Mr. Trump’s offense involves a serious risk to national security, half of America may see the Trump search as an example of unequal justice.

This may not be the full FBI story. Multiple media reports suggest that Justice has opened a grand jury probe into the events of Jan. 6, 2021, and Mr. Trump may be a target of that investigation. The House committee investigating Jan. 6 has been cheering for a prosecution, and the political and media pressure is intense on Attorney General Merrick Garland to indict Mr. Trump. The FBI search may be a fishing expedition to find evidence related to Jan. 6.

On the public evidence so far, a Jan. 6 indictment would be a legal stretch. Political responsibility isn’t the same as criminal liability. In our view, the evidence would have to show that Mr. Trump was criminally complicit in that day’s violence at the Capitol.

Given its inherently political nature, the burden of proof is especially high for indicting a former President, all the more so for an Administration of the opposition party. The evidence had better be overwhelming—not merely enough to convince a 12-person jury in the District of Columbia, but enough to convince a majority of the American public.

Then there is the fraught history between Mr. Trump and the FBI and Justice. The Russia collusion probe was a fiasco of FBI abuse of process and public deception. Current FBI director Christopher Wray was Mr. Trump’s choice to succeed the disastrous James Comey, but the bureau still has a serious credibility problem.

That the Mar-a-Lago raid occurred only about 90 days from a national election also increases the political suspicion. Democrats want to keep Mr. Trump front and center in the midterm campaign, which is why the Jan. 6 committee is continuing into the autumn.

Anyone who thinks an indictment and trial of Mr. Trump would go smoothly is in for a rude surprise. Millions of his supporters will see this as vindication of his charges against the “deep state,” and who knows how they will respond. Has Mr. Garland considered all of this?

Worse in the long term is the precedent being set and the payback it is likely to inspire. Once the Rubicon of prosecuting a former President has been crossed—especially if the alleged offense and evidence are less than compelling—every future President will be a target. William Barr, Mr. Trump’s second AG, wisely resisted pressure to indict political actors without a very strong case. The next Republican AG will not be as scrupulous.

Democrats may also be wrong in their calculation about how a prosecution would affect Mr. Trump’s future. The FBI search alone makes it more likely that Mr. Trump will run again for President, if only to vindicate himself. He will run as a martyr, and even Republicans who want to turn the page on the former President may be repelled by what they see as a political prosecution.

All of this risks compounding the baleful pattern of the last six years. Mr. Trump is accused of violating political norms—sometimes fairly, sometimes not—and the left violates norms in response. Polarization increases, and public faith in institutions and the peaceful settlement of political difference erodes further.

The FBI search on Mr. Trump suggests that Mr. Garland may be committed to pursuing and indicting Mr. Trump. If so, he is taking the country on a perilous road. There is much ruin in a nation, but no one should want to test the limits of that ruin in America.

From the Comments

– Now that the FBI has physically departed, Mar-A-Lago should be thoroughly searched for surveillance equipment.

Indigenous leaders have slammed Coles for using the Acknowledgment of Country on its shopping receipts.

It comes just days after Channel 9’s The Block made the decision to show an Acknowledgement of Country before the new season premiere on Sunday night.

And:

Wurundjeri elder Ian Hunter told the Herald Sun Coles using the Acknowledgement of Country on its receipts was “unnecessary”.

“For it to have more meaning it would be better for Coles to localise the message on receipts for specific areas, for example Coles in Darebin could acknowledge the Woiwurrung people,” he said.

“The Acknowledgement of Country shouldn’t be taken lightly … I’m getting fed up with this, it’s a real overreach.”

I completely agree with Mr Hunter when he says the WTC shouldn’t be taken lightly.

It shouldn’t be taken at all. Of course, there may be the matter of missing WTC payments for people like Mr Hunter to consider, so it’s probably no wonder he’s upset.

Three papers highlight results of record 1.3 megajoule yield experiment (9 Aug)

After decades of inertial confinement fusion research, a yield of more than 1.3 megajoules (MJ) was achieved at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s (LLNL’s) National Ignition Facility (NIF) for the first time on Aug. 8, 2021

More than 1,000 authors are included in one of the Physical Review Letters paper[s] to recognize and acknowledge the many individuals who have worked over many decades to enable this significant advance.

“The record shot was a major scientific advance in fusion research, which establishes that fusion ignition in the lab is possible at NIF,” said Omar Hurricane, chief scientist for LLNL’s inertial confinement fusion program.

I think it’s cool that a paper on fusion was authored by a thousand scientists led by a Dr Hurricane.

Wokeness’ in the military is worse than many of us realize

Thomas Spoehr, a retired lieutenant general who served 36 years in the United States Army, is now the director of the Center for National Defense at the Heritage Foundation. In that capacity, he gave a speech at Hillsdale College’s Washington, D.C. campus about the rise of the leftist “woke” mentality in the American military

It’s no exaggeration to say the military is overwhelmed with wokeness. Spoehr has example after example:

. Forcing all combat units to accept women, even though study after study reveals that doing so damages combat readiness.
. Opening the military to so-called “transgender” people, who have major mental health issues (including a high suicide risk) and extremely expensive physical health requirements.
. Allowing people with HIV to serve despite the risk of cross-infection in bloody environments.
. Lowering physical fitness standards for men to accommodate women.
. Changing longstanding military titles, under which people proudly served, essentially degrading institutional pride.
. Teaching troops (including at the academies) that America is a fatally flawed, deeply racist country that is irreparably damaged because of toxic whiteness.
. Training troops to believe that capitalism is inherently racist.
. Mandating “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” offices across the military.
. Destroying the military’s equipment readiness by chasing the climate chimera.

Meanwhile, as Spoehr is careful to point out, China is going full speed ahead with an old-fashioned military that has massive amounts of equipment and is filled with men who are being trained not to hate themselves and their country, but to kill the enemy. As China increases military spending, we’re decreasing military spending.

The complete Sovietization of the Democrat party

The thorough weaponization and politicization of each of our law enforcement institutions is now undeniable; the left has crossed Caesar’s Rubicon.

The Democrats are so determined to destroy Trump, they are willing to reveal their true colors: They are all Stalinist communists now.

Every Democrat voted against prohibiting China from buying U.S. farmland. Every Democrat voted against a ban on selling our strategic oil reserves to China; Biden has nearly emptied our strategic reserves. Every Democrat voted against a bill stating ythat pregnancy is unique to biological females. Every Democrat is on board the for the sexualization of very young children, the authorization of pornography in elementary school libraries and the pharmaceutical and surgical intervention of gender transition even for children under twelve. Democrat-run states seek to mandate gender-identity education for young children. Biden has made his support of gender transition abundantly clear. They all support unrestricted abortion up to and just after birth; they are in favor of infanticide.

Every Democrat has voted against protecting those who refuse the COVID vaccine. They voted against stopping the government from monitoring and prosecuting the unvaccinated. The Democrats approve of the DOJ labeling parents who attend school board meetings as domestic terrorists. The Democrats all signed onto the entirely Clinton-fabricated Russia hoax. In short, the American Democrat party is in favor of the destruction of any and all traditional Judeo-Christian American values. As President Trump remarked the other day, prayer in school is banned but drag queens are de rigeur. Our newest Supreme Court justice cannot define the word “woman” because she and her ilk insist men can become pregnant. Our left has gone the way of Orwell’s 1984, of Arthur Koestler’s Darkness at Noon. Our world is upside down.

With the obvious exceptions of the too few good Republicans in Congress ( Jim Jordan, Ron Johnson, Matt Gaetz, MTG, Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, Thomas Massie, John Kennedy, Tom Cotton), most of them are squishes, RINOs without a spine, Kevin McCarthy in particular.

What has the Republican leadership done to stop the horrific abuse of the January 6 prisoners? Nothing.

Glenn Diesen: As the tide turns in Ukraine, is the US preparing to throw Zelensky under the bus?

With Kiev’s defenses unraveling, the narrative surrounding the country’s leader has suddenly changed in Western media

In a display of support, the US has protected Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky from any criticism ever since Russia attacked Ukraine in February. As it becomes evident the war has been lost, someone will have to take the fall, and it appears that Washington is preparing to throw the leader in Kiev to the wolves.

The beginning of the end

The US proxy war against Russia was beneficial for Washington as long as there was a stalemate that was draining Moscow’s military, economic and human resources, even threatening to demote Russia from the rank of a great power. For example, Congressman Dan Crenshaw justified his support for the process by arguing that “investing in the destruction of our adversary’s military without losing a single American troop strikes me as a good idea.”

After more than five months of grinding down the Ukrainian military, the entire frontline is cracking. By punching through the heavily fortified defenses in Maryinka, Peski, Avdeevka, it appears that Moscow has sealed the fate of Donbass. As the fighting moves out of heavily populated industrial areas to a more open landscape, the territorial advancements of Russia will likely intensify. Furthermore, sanctions have backfired terribly on the West, causing a political crisis.

Setting the stage for the end of Zelensky?

It has been a remarkably difficult month, so far, for Zelensky in the Western media, which had previously withheld all criticism. New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, closely linked to the White House, reported that “there is deep mistrust between the White House and President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine – considerably more than has been reported.” Friedman also detailed Washington’s growing concerns about Ukrainian corruption and mismanagement, a topic that has been denounced as Russian propaganda since February. This is the same media that until recently repeated every line from Zelensky, including labeling the mass surrender in Mariupol as an “evacuation.” No more.

Sky News, a very anti-Russian news agency, also aired a segment with the title “Zelensky ‘not all he’s portrayed as’ by Western media.” An anchor accused Zelensky of dismantling Ukrainian democracy by seizing control of the national media, banning political opposition parties, and arresting the opposition leader. All true, but previously taboo.

Piling on, Amnesty International thereafter reported that Ukraine has been breaking the rules of war and international humanitarian law by establishing military positions in heavily populated residential areas, schools, and hospitals. It later partially backed down after a Twitter onslaught from pro-Kiev media figures, but stood by its overall findings.

The National Review speculates that the White House is quietly distancing itself from Zelensky to prepare a narrative to explain the shift from an uncompromising position to accepting concessions. It thus predicts that the Biden narrative will be “We did everything we could to help the Ukrainians defend themselves, but in the end, they were too incompetent, too corrupt, and too beset by infighting.”

Such a scapegoating would follow the precedents set in Iraq and Afghanistan, where the inadequacy and ineptitude of the protectorate were blamed for the failure.

Schweizer: Paul Pelosi, Jr. Consulting ‘Very Reminiscent’ of Hunter Biden

Breitbart News senior contributor and Government Accountability Institute president Peter Schweizer said Monday night on FNC’s “Jesse Watters Primetime” that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) son Paul Pelosi, Jr. is consulting in a way that is “very reminiscent” of Hunter Biden’s business dealings.

Schweizer said, “This is a particularly cynical and galling move by the Pelosis. First of all, as you pointed out, Paul Pelosi Sr., Nancy’s husband, has been under scrutiny for insider trading issues the stock trades. He has to, of course, disclose his finances because he is the spouse of Nancy Pelosi. Your adult children do not need to disclose their financial transactions. So, it seems like they switched attention to their son’s commercial activities.”

He added, “To put even a tighter note on this, Jesse, look at what is happening here. Nancy Pelosi is flying to the Asian Pacific region as the entire region is nervous and scared about the looming threat posed by China.

You have got the Speaker of the House coming in with a couple of other Democrats. They certainly want to have her good favor, and all of a sudden, her son is along for the trip. He is not a foreign policy adviser. He has no background, looking for business deals. This is what you call leverage. This is the sort of stuff you would expect from the Mafia, where you kind of create a demand for your own services. The kind of services that Paul Pelosi Jr. is offering are very reminiscent of Hunter Biden’s, by the way. They are vague. They are consulting are offering advisory services. They don’t actually have some product they are trying to sell.

It’s particularly a galling and cynical move. I applaud you for covering this because the rest of the mainstream media is totally ignoring this story.”

Welcome to the Third World
The FBI really better have something “pulverizing” on Trump, because otherwise we’ve just witnessed one of the dumbest moves in the history of politics

More speculation for me.
Was this a move by the Hiden’s to try and keep members of the Hiden family out of jail? Bunter Hiden and Demented’s brother appear to be real live crooks. Of course, Demented was also in on it. The Hidens soft underbelly is Ukraine and the shit they pulled with China. Maybe their concern was they have to remove the potential of Trump retaking the Oval Office as his administration would appoint special counsel.

And then there’s this in Devine’s piece, which means the 3D chess playing Trump theory is bullshit.

An eyewitness to the raid said all of the boxes were confiscated by federal agents Monday, but it is unknown if anything else was taken as no itemized list of items was provided by the FBI.
Donald Trump arrives at Trump Tower in NYC Tuesday night.

Now the likelihood is that the FBI will plant stuff in the stash.

it would be a terrible look for an alleged campaigner for black and wymminses rights.

It is likely he never realised it was happening – the man is pretty dim – but his claim to fight for the rights of women and Aborigines is merely camouflage to make it look like he is fighting for a principle: Fighting for all women and all Aborigines.

The reality underneath is that he was only ever fighting for the rights of particular women (progressive) and certain Aborigines (urban fauxboriginals). It would never have crossed his tiny mind that being a housewife could be a worthy vocation for a woman and should not be derided as a laughable relic from a retarded age, or that Aborigines who just want as peaceful a life as their white peers should be allowed to do so.

But if he articulated his true goals the rebuttals would immediately coalesce – and it would be hard.

So he claims we need more women CEO’s and judges “for all women”, and more land councils and political patronage “for all Aborigines”.

President Trump has already returned 15 boxes of documents, but the National Archives wants to know if the former President retained classified material he shouldn’t have. This is what appears to have triggered the FBI search, but it’s far from clear why this couldn’t be settled cooperatively, or at most with a subpoena.

Just what were they hoping to find as they searched through Melania’s knickers?

While I haven’t had much time for the Australian media during the Covid years, I have been today pleasantly surprised by the solid and critical stance the press corps took when questioning the Chinese ambassador at the ABC Australian Press Club telecast. They took no prisoners and held him to account for the belligerence of China against Taiwan after the visit of Nancy Pelosi.

In turn, the Chinese ambassador did not bother to disguise the reality of their intention of reclaiming Taiwan by force.

Compulsive viewing.

Normally we assume maintaining chain of custody is considered important to vouchsafe reliability of evidence.

But in the case of the boxes carried out of Trump’s residence it would seem more to guarantee the FBI’s ability to fabricate any case it wants. There is no one who check what they have been up to.

It lays bare the unfairness of a system where the government coming after a citizen has not only greater resources, but additional rights.

Aboriginal leader’s harrowing account of rising violence just THREE WEEKS after Albanese Government patted themselves on the back for axing ‘race-based’ ban on alcohol in remote indigenous communities

Ban on alcohol in Northern Territory Indigenous communities expired in July

The end of a ‘race-based policy’ which saw alcohol banned in indigenous communities for 15 years has resulted in an immediate spike in violence and booze related injuries.

In the first 48 hours after the Albanese Government lifted the ban on July 17, Alice Springs Police recorded 54 domestic-violence incidents with Aboriginal health advocates claiming ‘things have not settled’ in the three weeks since the restrictions were lifted.

I don’t much like our chances of surviving a yellow onslaught.

It wouldn’t be especially difficult to make Australia a much harder target than it currently is. We need to be able to defend ourselves, by ourselves, and do away with the psychological need for a great power security guarantee that has afflicted Australian defence planning since the nation’s birth.

This would require some political vision and courage, and a sizeable medium-long term investment. The utter lack of the first two attributes means it won’t happen in a planned, staged, orderly transition – events we have no control over will force it upon us. And there will be a years-long capability gap over the interim.

Alternatively, we could make China our new protector.

Cop on the cancellation of the Batgirl movie after a $70 meg bonfire of studio cash.
Some extracts:-

It seems fanciful that a film with as much going for it as Batgirl – an Afro-Latina-led movie, directed by filmmakers of Moroccan descent, and starring a transgender Asian woman (Ivory Aquino), not to mention one that brings back Keaton’s Batman, arguably the greatest iteration of the Dark Knight – would have fallen prey to an impending box-office flop

Ticked all the boxes.
What could have gone wrong?

Above all, the commitment to diversity this film was leading would have generated a ton of positive buzz regardless of its success or failure at the box office, assuring audiences that Warner Bros. is committed to diversity – not fuelling the Hollywood myth that films led by women and people of colour won’t make any money.

Myth?
I think the problem is “shit movies lose money”.

Batgirl’s filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah … issued a joint statement expressing their disappointment …
“As directors, it is critical that our work be shown to audiences, and while the film was far from finished, we wish that fans all over the world would have had the opportunity to see and embrace the final film themselves. Maybe one day they will insha’Allah.”

insha’Allah.
Nice touch.
And the conclusion:-

This financially-driven approach will continue to hinder any success garnered or desired by the DC Universe – and in turn, Warner Bros. – should it continue to operate with a ‘get rich quick’ scheme.

Riiight.
So when actors, writers and directors are living it up burning millions of OPM it is “respect our art, man!”
When the long suffering studio turns off the cash spigot suddenly money is the root of all evil.
It’s just a few studio suits getting between the “artists” and an adoring audience.

This is why I like Mark Latham……

Mark Latham staff did not participate in bullying and sexual misconduct probe

One MP’s office did not participate in the highly-anticipated review into bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct in the Macquarie St bear pit due to drop it’s findings on Friday.

EXCLUSIVE: Mark Latham’s staff did not take part in a parliament-wide review into sexual harassment, bullying and misconduct, which he said was “a waste of money” and because getting offended “is a choice”.

The review led by Elizabeth Broderick is expected to hand down bombshell findings on Friday and Mr Latham said staff needed to know better than to “sook”, “dob” or write complaints.

The findings are expected to be disturbing and come shortly after Premier Dominic Perrottet dumped Fair Trading Minister Eleni Petinos after allegations and a complaint of bullying.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal Mr Latham responded to the committee’s request for interviews and told them his office will not be participating after a conversation with his staff.

“I had a talk with my staff about it and no one had any problems … I told the committee that sent the memo that we wouldn‘t be participating. That was a decision of the office and we don’t feel any recommendations will be relevant to the work we do,” he said.

“Our office didn‘t participate … We haven’t had any big turnover of staff, we don’t find this to be toxic workplace.”

The One Nation MP, who has previously worked as a staffer for Gough Whitlam, said political staff should not be offended by occasional outbursts.

“I worked with (Gough) Whitlam who was volcanic in his eruptions. His body would tremble with rage, but then he’d come up to you and say ‘How are you going?’ and give you a hug. A mature worker would realise that’s how he lets off steam,” he said.

“How would the political greats of the past cope in this environment … You just have to understand this is a man working hard for the public good and sometimes the pressure stumbles over and as a staffer you need to realise that. Don‘t go sook about it, don’t go racing off to dob someone in, writing letters.

“Offence is a choice … I chose to never be offended and I would recommend that to staffers today.”

Mr Latham said he expected the review to find Macquarie St was a “toxic workplace” but felt it was because the review was looking to “find problems to fix”.

“I’m sure the findings will be that it’s a toxic workplace … but I don’t see it myself.”

Trump Attorneys Spill the Beans on Issues With FBI Raid, Warrant

Trump attorney Alina Habba appeared on Fox News with Jesse Watters. She said that they had been cooperating with the National Archives over the records and that this was completely “unconstitutional.” “Our country should be terrified—I am terrified,” Habba exclaimed. She said the FBI went in when he wasn’t even there, and then told his attorneys to leave, that they couldn’t watch or be there. “That doesn’t sound good to me,” she declared.

Habba said the agents came in wearing backpacks, and she was concerned that they could have planted things since they were trying to get the attorneys out of there. Habba said she believed this was all part of the effort to try to take Trump down, and that people were “working in tandem” with other efforts.

Watters asked about the warrant, and Habba said the attorneys on the ground weren’t given the warrant during the raid — they were only allowed to look at it.

Now, here’s Trump attorney Christina Bobb on Real America’s Voice. She was the attorney who was on site. She explains that they initially wouldn’t even let her see the warrant, but then did; they were reluctant to let them have it. It’s not clear from what she says if they ultimately were able to obtain it at some point. She also explained that the probable cause for the warrant was sealed, so that they can’t even know what it was unless they go to court to find out.

She confirmed that it was due to the Presidential Records Act, which the host indicated has never been prosecuted–one of the many reasons this “rationale” to seize documents from Trump’s home is ridiculous. She said they also were looking for classified documents. “The irony of both…is it is the president [Trump] himself who gets to decide what is a presidential record. So, why they get to redefine that is unclear and why they get to search, why that’s even in a warrant, it doesn’t really make any sense,” she said. “The same thing with any potential classified information.”

What is ridiculous about all this is how opposed this is to how they treated Hillary Clinton, whose home was never raided, who was never gone after for getting rid of her emails or having classified documents on her private server.

Bobb explained to RSBN how this was completely unprecedented to pursue a former president this way — that Hillary Clinton even took furniture and other items from the White House when the Clintons left, and she just got an email to return things.

On top of what the attorneys said, as I noted in my Trump family reaction story, the FBI also wanted the Mar-a-Lago security cameras shut off while they were conducting their raid. Why? The only thing one can think is that they didn’t want the camera to catch something that they were doing.
