Trust the Science: Study Links Left-Wing Politics to Lower Testosterone
These days, testosterone therapy is all the rage. As its popularity increases, might we subsequently see a right-wing swell? As suggested by science, it could occur.
As reported by the National Pulse, a hormonal investigation has unearthed an interesting find: If you raise a man’s testosterone levels, he becomes more politically conservative.
The study – Testosterone Administration Induces A Red Shift in Democrats – was published on November 14th, 2021 by Professor Paul Zak, the Director of the Center for Neuroeconomics Studies at Claremont Graduate University.
“His research has made a substantial impact in explaining the variation in human social behaviors and has been cited by other scholars over 18,000 times placing in the top 0.3% of all scholars,” explains his professional biography.
Through the 2012 election season, 136 voting-age males were studied. And sure enough, there was a link between man juice and polling-booth persuasion.
As pointed out by the paper, it works on weaklings:
Our results demonstrate that testosterone induces a “red shift” among weakly-affiliated Democrats.
For the experiment, some participants were given a placebo while others received the real thing. Over time, their politics were tracked.
When weakly affiliated Democrats received additional testosterone, the strength of their party fell by 12 percent and they reported 45 percent warmer feelings towards Republican candidates for president.
On top of that, the most ardent Democrats were shown to be the least Arnold Schwarzenegger-ish:
Before the testosterone treatment, we found that weakly affiliated Democrats had 19 percent higher basal testosterone than those who identified strongly with the party,” the study continues, reiterating the correlation between individuals with lower testoreone having left-wing political beliefs.
Bottom line, as stated by the study:
Our findings provide evidence that neuroactive hormones affect political preferences.

Here’s the Woman Who Launched the FBI Ransacking of Mar-a-Lago
Donald Trump is the victim of a political hit job by the Biden Department of Justice. He didn’t commit any actual law violations as stipulated in the Mar-a-Lago search warrant. Federal officials fought to keep the affidavit providing probable cause for the FBI’s August 8 raid under seal. Still, a judge, the same one who signed off on the search, Bruce Reinhart, disagreed and ordered parts of the document to be released after a redaction process. That means a sea of blacked-out pages, so what’s the point? The best part regarding the reasoning behind keeping the core of the affidavit under wraps is to protect Donald Trump. Nothing is creepier than when the government says, “this is for your protection.”
With every development regarding this federal ransacking, two things remain unchanged. It looks increasingly clear that the Trump legal team was cooperating with federal officials regarding the documents in question, so the obstruction of justice allegation gets weaker by the day.
Second, where is the crime that precipitated this search of Trump’s home because recent updates only make it seem like the Justice Department cobbled together statutes that aren’t criminal to justify this ransacking?
The latest development in this legal fiasco is Acting Archivist Debra Steidel Wall’s role in the document retrieval, where she seems to be one of the leading figures who triggered the FBI raid. As Tom Elliott of Grabien clipped, Trump honored this woman during his presidency, which he cited as a failure on the former president’s part for not draining the swamp (via WaPo):
Let’s circle back to what Mike Davis, ex-law clerk to Justice Neil Gorsuch, has said about this case. The president can declassify anything he wants, the regulations regarding classification do not apply to the office of the presidency, and the fact that Trump took documents that are considered highly sensitive is, in effect, a declassifying act. What isn’t marginalized is that Trump declassified troves of documents relating to Crossfire Hurricane. Then federal agents busted down the doors of Mar-a-Lago looking for more classified materials, including reported nuclear secrets, which everyone knew was an exaggeration. We know more about the people who lit the fuse for this heinous act of DOJ overreach.
The Morning Briefing: Village Idiot Biden Puts Another Nail in America’s Coffin
Top O’ the Briefing
Happy Thursday, dear Kruiser Morning Briefing friends. Truckmuffin Lane just hasn’t been the same since Mrs. Hooper stopped knitting Arbor Day sweaters for the cheese shop customers.
President Wrecking Ball is at it again.
Fatalism doesn’t really look good on me but I swear that the commies who run Joe Biden’s brain are beginning to convince me that they might just be able to destroy this great Republic before Christmas this year.
Biden and his squad of professional constitutional assassins delivered the Big Pander yesterday, promising to magically “POOF!” $300 billion in student loan debt into the ether. Democrats and their flying monkeys in the mainstream media positively erupted with euphemisms in an attempt to describe the move as anything but what it is: the screwing of one class of people to buy a few votes from another.
Words like “cancel” and “forgive” were thrown around like beads at Mardi Gras to sugarcoat another hemorrhaging of money that this country doesn’t have. Here was my personal favorite:
In case you’re wondering how mainstream media bias subtly works, note the unflinching use of the word “erase” here.
“Erase,” you say! It’s just gone now, no worries, move along, nothing to see here.
Once again, American leftists are sending the message that, if you play nice with them electorally, you won’t be facing any consequences for your actions.
Like, ever.
When not making direct assaults on the Constitution — Granny Boxwine said last year that Biden doesn’t have the authority to do this — Democrats are working feverishly to unravel the fabric of society.
The Democrats’ contempt for working-class Americans is on full display now. They want to destroy industries and livelihoods in the name of Climate Church justice. That’s what the Inflation Reduction Act boondoggle is really about.
Now the Dems have just told these same Americans that it’s up to them to fund frat parties.
Worst of all, they’re willing to lie (“Forgive.” “Cancel.” “Erase.”) to aid in their efforts to stick it to the little guy.
The only thing that has been erased here is the Democrats’ last vestige of credibility whenever they express concern for the plight of working Americans.
Well said, Makka!

RACISM AT THE NEW YORK TIMES
One popular theory about the left’s obsession with racism is that they are the largest practitioners of it themselves.
To wit, this report from National Public Radio:
People of color at ‘New York Times’ get lower ratings in job reviews, union says
An analysis of comprehensive data for roughly 1,000 The New York Times employees conducted by members of the union that represents its newsroom found that Black and Latino staffers are far less likely than their white peers to receive strong job ratings.
There are financial consequences to job ratings because they influence the size of employee bonuses, the NewsGuild union says. But staffers tell NPR the differential is even more important because it indicates an underlying systemic problem that the paper is failing to address. It is demoralizing, they say, and contributes to the premature departure of some colleagues. . .
“Being Hispanic reduced the odds of receiving a high score by about 60%, and being Black cut the chances of high scores by nearly 50%,” says the report from the NewsGuild chapter representing employees of The New York Times. The study, shared before its release with NPR News, reflects data stretching back to 2018, when a new rating system was put in place.

Get Trump!” Damn the Constitution
by Alan M. Dershowitz
August 24, 2022
. Many of my friends on the left fear [Trumpism] as much as many on the right feared communism in the 1950s. And they may have a point. But not enough of a point to destroy a century of progress in civil liberties, free speech, due process, and the rule of law.
. Articles are now frequently appearing in the mainstream media demanding compromises with important rights in the name of “Getting Trump.”
. My former colleague Laurence Tribe, who taught constitutional law for half a century, now seems willing to weaponize the Constitution to serve his partisan end of “Getting Trump.” Incredibly, he has advocated prosecuting Trump for the “attempted murder” of then Vice President Mike Pence. To do so would require retroactively and unconstitutionally expanding the law of attempts to fit Trump’s ill-advised actions and inactions with regard to Pence. But apparently that doesn’t matter to Tribe and his followers, who care more about achieving their “noble” ends than they do about the ignoble means they are willing to employ.
. The ACLU, which has long objected to the overuse of search warrants instead of subpoenas, is silent about the search of Mar-a-Lago. As long as the goal is to get Trump, anything goes including hypocrisy, inconstancy and unconstitutionality.
. I would give everyone “the benefit of law,” but not only “for my own safety’s sake,” but for the sake of future generations. Once the Constitution and civil liberties are “cut down,” it is difficult to regrow them and the “winds that would blow them” might prevent us from “standing upright” against new tyrannies from the extreme left and right.
. This important right [to vote ] should not be taken away by unconstitutional means, even if the result were to be the unlikely re-election of Trump. That is the price of democracy.
Today the fear is Trumpism. Many of my friends on the left fear it as much as many on the right feared communism in the 1950s. And they may have a point. But not enough of a point to destroy a century of progress in civil liberties, free speech, due process, and the rule of law. Articles are now frequently appearing in the mainstream media demanding compromises with important rights in the name of “Getting Trump.” Sam Harris essentially said he was willing to break democracy to save democracy. His dangerous words speak for the actions of many on the hard left. My former colleague Laurence Tribe, who taught constitutional law for half a century, now seems willing to weaponize the Constitution to serve his partisan end of “Getting Trump.”
A scene from the film “A Man for All Seasons” well illustrates the current debate:
William Roper: “So, now you give the Devil the benefit of law!”
Sir Thomas More: “Yes! What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil?”
William Roper: “Yes, I’d cut down every law in England to do that!”
Sir Thomas More: “Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned ’round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country is planted thick with laws, from coast to coast, Man’s laws, not God’s! And if you cut them down, and you’re just the man to do it, do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I’d give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety’s sake!”
Today on the left, there are more Ropers than Mores. Today’s devil is Trump, and today’s Ropers are willing to “cut a great road through the law to get after [today’s] devil.” Like More, I would give everyone “the benefit of law,” but not only “for my own safety’s sake,” but for the sake of future generations.
Once the Constitution and civil liberties are “cut down,” it is difficult to regrow them and the “winds that would blow them” might prevent us from “standing upright” against new tyrannies from the extreme left and right.

Iran Prepares to Take Out Israel – Right after Iran Deal Is Signed
by Khaled Abu Toameh
August 24, 2022
. The mullahs appear convinced that once the Biden administration capitulates completely to their demands for reviving the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, they will be able to step up their already significant efforts to eliminate Israel and export their Islamic Revolution to Arab and Islamic countries. Iran already occupies four Arab countries: Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and Iraq.
. Iran’s mullahs appear to be so confident that the Biden administration has turned its back on its Arab allies in the Middle East that they are issuing direct threats not only against Israel, but also against any Arab country that dares to cooperate with the Israelis.
. Meanwhile, the mullahs are busy trying to open a new battlefront against Israel, this time in the West Bank.
. The mullahs appear to be so emboldened by the Biden administration’s weakness that they are now openly talking about using the West Bank as a launching pad to attack Israel and kill Jews.
. Under pressure from the Iranian regime, Hamas and Islamic Jihad representatives held a meeting in the Gaza Strip earlier this week to discuss ways of stepping up the “resistance” against Israel.
. In an attempt to appease their masters in Tehran, Hamas and Islamic Jihad issued a joint statement after the meeting in which they pledged to step up the “armed struggle” against Israel “until the liberation [of all of Palestine],” a euphemism for the destruction of Israel

Kim Kardashian beats Hillary Clinton in a legal knowledge contest
Kardashian beat the Yale Law grad in a legal trivia quiz 11-4
Kim Kardashian schooled Hillary Clinton in a test of legal knowledge in an episode of Clinton’s upcoming Apple TV+ documentary series, according to a recent interview with People magazine.
The former secretary of state went toe-to-toe with Kardashian, the reality TV star and criminal justice reform advocate, in a pop quiz on criminal law issues like use of deadly force and self-defense. Kardashian, who last year passed the baby bar exam after completing her first year in a law apprenticeship program, beat the Yale Law graduate 11-4. Clinton described the loss as “heartbreaking,” in the interview with People.
The contest was filmed for an episode of “Gutsy,” a new Apple TV+ series hosted and executive produced by Clinton and her daughter, Chelsea, based on their book, “The Book of Gutsy Women.”
Chelsea Clinton, who played quizmaster for the legal trivia matchup, told People she thinks her mom could have had the upper hand if the former first lady had faster “reaction time” hitting the buzzer when she knew an answer to a question.

The Future for Australia under Labor.Greens as shown by Canada
Canadian ‘climate ministry’ will have arms storage and detention rooms – media
The facility for Trudeau’s new climate cops includes a massive firearms storage space and interrogation rooms
A Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) facility under construction in Winnipeg includes a sizable firearms storage room, as well as multiple evidence rooms and interrogation rooms, according to CounterSignal. The outlet, which claims to have received a leaked copy of the architectural plans as drawn up by a Winnipeg firm, published a snapshot showing some of the more disturbing labels on Tuesday.
The sprawling 50,000 square-foot building also encases biological labs, media relations offices, a weather forecasting station, and – perhaps most disturbing, given the implications – facilities for housing hundreds of people, including “enforcement officers” working for the ECCC.
The “enforcement officers” are essentially climate police, endowed with equivalent authority by the 2019 Impact Assessment Act, which purports to be legislation aiming to reduce the impact of energy, farming and other large projects on indigenous communities and the environment. They may enter any property without a warrant in order to verify compliance with the IAA, taking photos, accessing computers, phones and other devices, giving orders to anyone operating machinery, or even demanding the premises be vacated and future access prohibited.
According to a job posting on Indeed.com, Canada is currently hiring these “enforcement officers” to enforce pollution regulations. They are given a secret security clearance and restricted weapons, which they carry – along with handcuffs – into whatever environmental conditions Ottawa calls for them to inspect.
ECCC agents were spotted earlier this week on private farmland in Saskatchewan, where they claimed to be taking water samples in order to measure nitrate levels. Premier Scott Moe demanded to know what the agency planned to use the samples for and why it was being done without the permission and knowledge of the farmers.
Many farmers fear the PM could follow in the footsteps of his counterpart in the Netherlands, whose planned restrictions on fertilizer usage threaten to put the majority of Dutch farmers off their land. In 2020, Trudeau announced plans to reduce fertilizer emissions by 30% over the next 10 years, which will not only reduce crop yields and make it impossible to continue growing food, but, fertilizer industry advocates say, won’t even lower carbon emissions.
It doesn’t look good.

Fond Memories of Avalon Surf Club dance that ran on Saturday nights
Little Pattie and Col Joye Concert at Nui Dat Vietnam War – 18 Aug 1966
Surf music gave a lot of bands their start and established some successful careers, notably that of the 14-year-old Maroubra schoolgirl, Pattie Amphlett, who recorded as ‘Little Pattie’. Her hits included ‘He’s My Blonde-Headed, Stompie Wompie, Real Gone Surfer Boy’ (1963) and ‘Stompin’ at Maroubra’ (1963).
https://aso.gov.au/titles/sponsored-films/king-of-the-surf/clip1/
The Stomp, the actual dance itself (if you could call it a dance), had been invented six months earlier at the Avalon Surf Club dance that ran on Saturday nights for a while. The Sunsets were the band, and a bunch of us surfers were stuffing around there one night, all of us being lousy jivers or quicksteppers. The two stomps with the left foot, followed by two with the right, was delightfully do-able for us uncouth mongrels.
I can’t recall who actually put it together first, but it was definitely our crew of derros, at Avalon, in late ’62. I do recall the feeling as, pumped up with adrenalin and beer, we grabbed girls and showed them the move, and watched how quickly they caught on. The girls then made it elegant – well, as elegant as the Stomp could be – by adding slow rotations and some body swaying. The boys in the band noticed, and between songs they revved the crowd up on the new dance.
In a couple of weeks, the Avalon Stomp had a name, and crew from all over Sydney started to get into the new craze. Radio station 2UW had just gone a hundred per cent Top Forty, and they gave the Avalon Stomp a plug here and there.

Radical Gender Theory Comes to the Heartland
A Missouri school district promotes the idea that “gender is a universe.”
Springfield Public Schools, the largest public school district in Missouri, has adopted a radical gender-theory training program that encourages teachers to believe that “gender is a universe” and to affirm sexual identities such as “non-binary,” “pansexual,” and “polyamorous.”
Last year, I reported on Springfield Public Schools’ critical race theory training program, which required teachers to locate themselves on an “oppression matrix” and watch a video of “George Floyd’s last words.” But according to new documents obtained by the Southeastern Legal Foundation as part of a civil rights lawsuit, the district’s left-wing training program was not limited to racial ideology: administrators were simultaneously promoting the principles of radical gender theory to school employees.
The training program followed the basic narrative of academic-style gender theory: Western societies have created a “heteronormative” system that marginalizes racial and sexual minorities. To start, presenters led district employees in a “land acknowledgement” censuring white settlers for conquering North America. “As we begin our training, we want to acknowledge and honor the Native and Indigenous Peoples whose land we currently gather on. Springfield Public Schools is built on ancestral territory of the Osage, Delaware and Kickapoo Nations and Peoples,” the statement read. “In doing social justice work, it is important we acknowledge the dark history and violence against Native and Indigenous People across the world. In this work, we are committed to promoting, supporting and affirming all communities, especially those that are marginalized.”
Next, Springfield Public Schools told administrators and teachers that they must understand their “privileges” and identify their position within the “cycles of oppression.” In a “matching game,” the district provides a basic glossary for critical theory, explaining that some groups—i.e., straight, white, cisgender men—have “power” and “privilege” over others based on the categories of “race,” “gender,” “identity,” and “sexual orientation.” Teachers are then asked to classify themselves on a “social identities” wheel and account for their race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status. All of these social hierarchies contribute to the “cycles of oppression,” which are reinforced by institutions and result in “anger, dehumanization, guilt, collusion, ignorance, self-hatred, stress, lack of reality . . . [and] internalization of patterns of power.”
Finally, the presentation zeroed in on the principles of radical gender theory. Administrators claimed that people are given a “biological sex assigned at birth,” which often conflicts with their “gender identity” and “gender expression.” Teachers are asked to recognize and affirm identities such as “non-binary,” “gender non-conforming,” “drag queen,” “pansexual,” and “polyamorous,” which is described as having “[ethical], honest, and consensual non-monogamous relationships (i.e. relationships that may include multiple partners).” These teachers are also expected to use the “preferred gender pronouns” of their students. As part of the presentation, administrators shared a video featuring “genderqueer” and “nonbinary” children, titled “Why Gender Pronouns Matter,” which claims that “gender is a universe,” that some children “don’t have a gender,” and that “misgendering a trans person is an act of violence.” “My identity, although you can’t see it, still needs to be validated,” says one of the “non-binary” children in the video.
Let’s cut to the chase…what are his pronouns?
California air regulators are expected Thursday to issue stringent rules to ban the sale of new gasoline cars by 2035 and set interim targets to phase the cars out.
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) will vote on the measure Thursday afternoon, board member Daniel Sperling told CNN. Sperling added he was “99.9%” confident the measure would pass. If it does, it would be one of the first such bans worldwide. It also could have major implications for the US car market, given how large California’s economy is.
“This is monumental,” Sperling said. “This is the most important thing that CARB has done in the last 30 years. It’s important not just for California, but it’s important for the country and the world.”
The board’s new rules also would set interim quotas for zero-emission vehicles, focusing on new models. Starting in 2026, 35% of new cars, SUVs and small pickups sold in California would be required to be zero-emission vehicles. That quota would increase each year, expected to reach 51% of all new car sales in 2028, 68% in 2030 and 100% in 2035. The quotas also would allow 20% of zero-emission cars sold to be plug-in hybrids. The rules would not impact used vehicles and allow those vehicles to stay on the roads.
So, sometime tomorrow (our time) we should hear about the next step in a long campaign to marginalise and eventually eliminate ICE passenger vehicles.

It also discouraged people from coming if their “sole purpose” was to meet someone to “pick up”.
Club 77 in Darlinghurst, in Sydney’s inner east, gave staring as an example of an action that would be in contravention of its new safety and harassment policy.
In an Instagram post from earlier this month, the club said “safety officers” in pink vests would enforce the staring rules.

I think (?) i’ve worked out the cross-dressing, hooker, daddy of kid who never got abused by Pell’s case is:
-He is going to claim that it is irrelevant that his son said he was never abused
-The cross-dressing DADDY had to endure the court case and doleful stories while considering his own son, who as a friend of J, could have suffered the same fate, despite saying opposite,
-We will never know if he suffered the same fate or not
-But it was likely that J did endure abuse
-Ergo: Cross-dressing DADDY still went through pain for what happened to J by inference of his dead son.
There’s no other way I can string a case together other than by inference. Either way that GayBC are going to gobble this up every. single. day.

I had trouble paying the automatic recharge on my Vodafone account because some idiot had changed the security status on an Australia Post debit card. I had the same problem with Amazon Kindle, so it had to be the card.
I changed the card, and both recovered, in particular the Vodafone recharge went through. But I was being choked, and the bit rate meant I had trouble refreshing the Çat pages. And every other site I went to. Vodafone does this when they think you haven’t paid, it’s happened in the past.
So I called Vodafone and bitched about being choked. I got onto a technical support chick, obviously a foreigner but with a cute voice and accent. She took a while to understand what I was talking about, and assured me that they didn’t have any capacity to choke anyone. She took off three minutes to see what was happening, and returned to tell me there was an upgrade of my local tower going on and it might last until the end of this month. She promised to call me back after the upgrade was complete.
As soon as the call was over, the choking had stopped. Service as normal. Bit rate back to usual 4G+.
So she had lied to me about their capacity to choke, and they had fixed it, but wouldn’t admit to it. Why, oh why couldn’t they tell the truth?

Reporting in from Democrat heartland New York on the mask situation. They have disappeared everywhere – except once so far. Nothing asked in airports including Los Angeles and JFK. You see signs here and there in NY at shop entrances but they appear to be awaiting takedown. Public transport has the occasional sign or announcement but it’s not enforced. About 10% of people on transport wearing them – almost none elsewhere.
In one place, ironically at the Statue of Liberty, we were told they were necessary. The bloke at the ticket counter said they were and offered to sell us two for a dollar. I told him we’ll cancel the ticket to see what happened – he gave them to me. But inside the airport-security style shed before you get on the ferry – much enforcement with signs and staff telling you they had to be put on. Once through security everyone took them off in the lines for the Statue ferry, and they were never seen again.

Yes, I do. US55-60 K a year and around 18K for lodging. Total is around 80 to 85 ish K per year. Give the kid 20K for spending money and you’re looking at US$100,000 plus per year. This is basically for a private university like NYU or say Yale etc. Most kids go to state university or community colleges which are a lot less. But above is what the elite private schools charge.

JC, the American Colleges are a patronage system that has been overtaken by the left. There is a lot to be loved, but a lot to be desired. It seems to me that Americans have convinced themselves that having a “piece of paper” from a particular College is going to “open doors” (which it does), regardless of how stupid you are. It seems Americans are prepared to pay massive amounts of money for their “ticket to the middle class” and “respectability”.
I suspect that every wealthy family in Americas kids have been to a “top notch” College and graduated. Statistically, it’s improbable they deserved it, but “money talks”. The sad thing is that they have roped the middle class into believing that they can’t be successful without getting that “piece of paper”.
I guess it’s a “cultural thing” between America and Australia. As a kid, you pretty much had no choice. Your family could either afford to send you to University if you had the brains, or they couldn’t. End result was that you worked for someone else until you learnt enough to work for yourself. That was the situation, no questions asked.
Until recently, I’ve never heard anyone ask “So, where did you go to University”? It’s a sad day when people start asking that shit as though it’s a marker of worth. Very Americanesq.
Having recently looked at the sacrifices Americans are willing to pay for getting that “piece of paper”, it’s just absolutely bizarre.

The more I read up about the American education system, the stranger it gets.
As an ex-finance broker, it’s a bit weird trying to figure out how a student can rack up a debt that takes 20 years to pay off? Where’s the security?
Yes, I get that the “Government (people)” guarantees the debt, but on what basis? It’s not as if they are providing “bricks and mortar” security you can “sell up” as the lender and get your dosh back?
Are these people then “human mortgages” that the Government can hold for the next 20 plus years of their lives via taxation and compulsion to repay? Sounds more like slavery (or indentured labour) than education.
And what of the colleges promoting enrolments? Sounds more like a car salesman putting a 18 year old plumbing apprentice in a Porche he can’t afford and in a car he can’t handle. Never mind, all the Sheliahs will love him when he drives up with his “piece of paper”.
Sounds like a rort to me.
The more I read up about the American education system, the stranger it gets.
Ya gotta read the sub-plotting. As in Hawke saying everyone should go on to year 12, and Julia Gillard urging everyone to send their kids to university.
Therefore you get more chance to indoctrinate them into the Marxist way of the political class. Tradies are too busy earning a living, and also they’re into the equation of the “more I work the more money I get so I can buy more beers, a nice car and a nice house”. All of these things are not what the true socialist wants for the mob. (Of course, they want it for themselves).
All of these things are not what the true socialist wants for the mob. (Of course, they want it for themselves).

And a rort it is. Junior had a journalism professor who spent a semester getting the class to explore ways in which W. might have orchestrated the WTC’s destruction. Total loony, and the kids had to go along with it or risk getting an F.
As to journalism, he learnt a lot more in three years over here working for 3AW — and they paid him, instead of vice versa.
I much prefer the “Australian Model” (bar a few exceptions).
The main exception being courses that lead to nowhere. If your kid wants to go into anything related to Social Science, the Arts, and so on . Yeah, I’m sure they are really talented, but they should be on social media, not at University.
Second exception is standards. Just don’t let any fucker in there. Top 20% of students regardless of money or influence.
Thirdly is that International students should be on separate campuses.
Having said that, the existing Australian University system is pretty good (compared to the US). Our kids are getting a “Austudy allowance” instead of the dole. It keeps them out of our houses for a few years, and they learn to be more independent. It’s a good “boot camp” for them.
They have to pay their “Hex Debt” when they start earning enough. Fair enough.
My only suggestion to improve the system is that parents/relatives are able to “help out” by reducing their taxable income via a contribution to their child’s University Education.
In other words, it’s a tax deductible against a Hex debt. In short, parents wanting to help their kids out “in the long run” rather than waiting for the “reading of the will”.
Sure, the little bastards can ring you up wanting money for “this and that” (mainly food and goons), but when they get older they might appreciate they haven’t got a debt hanging over their head.

If a kid attends a prestige school and I mean Ivy League or even almost Ivy League, the doors pretty much open for the kid to at least get the first job at a first class outfit. It’s these colleges and universities where the most prestigious American firms go to recruit. I reckon, it’s viewed like an IQ test.
