I’ve mentioned a few things, I think, like whether they are themselves being belligerent, whether its disrupting the thread, whether its been going on for days, etc. It’s not an algorithm, its a judgement call.

Okay, work that view into your positions on Rosie and Liz. Both have defended themselves with equal aplomb, yet you’ve chosen to ignore Rosie’s position vs Liz. And please don’t even pretend the attacks on Liz have been less belligerent than that Queensland redneck’s and the way he went after her. There’s no comparison. And as for disrupting a thread… Struphid isn’t?

Dot:

People likely wouldn’t use fentanyl if safer alternatives were cheaper and legal. Controlling supply in the end just makes hospital care more onerous on users and taxpayers.

Fentanyl use is primarily because Codeine has been made to difficult to get legally.
The rules have been made by people who are not yet old enough to have a lifetime of wear and tear on their bodies, yet believe they are old enough and wise enough to make other peoples health decisions for them.
Great decision O Wise & Trusted Ones!

Larry Fink is Blackrock’s CEO. Rather than listen to his sustainable babble it might be better to look at what Blackrock is actually invested in… and it isn’t sustainables.

Zat, I can see what the finkmeister is trying to do. He won’t singularly inhibit his own firm and management team by instructing them to go all woke. Fink is attempting to make all of corp America woke so it won’t restrict his own firm in any way. There’s a putrid level of logic there.

From “The Age” – I know, I know…

We did a poll, and here is who you want on the $5 note
By Jordan McCarthy
September 14, 2022 — 3.53pm

From Bluey to Mr Squiggle, the responses to our poll of who should be the new face of the $5 note were diverse, to say the least. However, King Charles III and Uncle Jack Charles were the most common names to pop up.

The traditionalists believed the monarchy deserved to remain on our five-dollar note, and the recently crowned King Charles III was popular with readers like Jason.

“King Charles III has a rightful place on the note, we have not become a republic, so he is our head of state, like it or not,” he said.

Keeping Queen Elizabeth II on the note was also a popular option with many readers, including Luke, who cited the impact she has had on Australia over the past 70 years.

“Keep Elizabeth II permanently, as an acknowledgment of her contribution to Australian life and government,” he said.

There were even those who suggested keeping Elizabeth II purely to save the hassle of changing the note.

Prominent Aussies were also popular options, with many believing it was time to part ways with the royal family and foreigners in place of a local legend.

Those to receive a handful of votes included Kylie Minogue and Steve Irwin, but the overwhelming response was for a First Nations Australian to grace our purple bill.

Uncle Jack Charles and Uncle Archie Roach were the most popular choices to join Ngarrindjeri writer and inventor David Unaipon, who graces our $50 note, as an Indigenous representative on our cash.

Uncle Jack Charles, 2016’s Victorian Senior of the Year, sadly died earlier this week. He was a renowned stage and screen actor and advocate who was known for his work mentoring incarcerated Indigenous youth. He was a popular choice for the note with readers like Michael C.

“Jack Charles – he personifies the plight of the First Nations people and the ability to rise above the extended blight cast at him to reflect a persona capable of reflecting all Australians,” he said.

Gunditjmara and Bundjalong elder Uncle Archie Roach, who also died recently, was an iconic singer-songwriter and campaigner for Aboriginal Australian rights.

Beloved sports stars such as Don Bradman and Shane Warne also garnered a handful of votes, but they didn’t reach the lofty numbers of the royals or Indigenous elders.

The next most popular person was… no person at all: Native animals such as the kangaroo and koala received a solid number of votes in their favour.

Flora and landmarks, such as Uluru, were also popular suggestions for adorning the new $5 note.

Which option is most likely to become a reality? Does anyone even use cash anymore? Time will tell.

JC, there is certainly some agenda there and that one sounds reasonable. I just found that letter of his to be BS and hypocritical. This line for instance:

Most stakeholders – from shareholders, to employees, to customers, to communities, and regulators – now expect companies to play a role in decarbonizing the global economy.

Most stakeholders? How the hell does he know? He knows what pressure groups tell him and at best is basing his shtick on that.

Two of his major holdings are Exxon and Chevron and they certainly aren’t getting out of the fossil fuel business, no matter what their PR depts might say.

Drivers warned EV charging will be 98% more difficult in 2031 than it is today

Within the next 10 years, the ratio of electric vehicles will get worse rather than better, according to a new report released by GoCompare. The study also revealed the best and the worst places to own an EV in the next 10 years.

Experts believe that the number of electric cars will almost double in the near future, but the charging network will not be able to follow suit.

The news comes despite the 2030 ban on new petrol and diesel car sales looming ever closer.

Last year, there were 266 electric vehicles (EVs) to each public charger in the UK, but the insurance comparison site says this will rise to 527 cars per charger by 2031.

This means that charger availability will be almost half of what it was in 2021.

The main reason for this is the fact that the rate of new charger installations won’t be fast enough to keep up with the uptake of EVs over the next decade.

Despite more charger installations, the number of EVs purchased will outweigh the rate new charging units are fit.

The search for a charger could be particularly difficult in some parts of south England.

Luton, for example, will have only one charger available for every 10,956 cars – the worst projected ratio of EVs per rapid charger in the UK.

A major reason why charger availability is likely to be so low is that the uptake of EVs is set to soar over the next 10 years.

The number of registered EVs in the UK will skyrocket to 7.9 million by 2031 – a 509 percent increase from 2021.

This is almost twice as many as GoCompare’s initial prediction. Last year, the comparison site estimated that the 2031 figure would be just 3.8 million, but now that more accurate data is available, it has found that demand is rising more rapidly than first thought.

“They refuse to comply because this normally works – not many people can quickly marshal up a legal team that can go toe-to-toe with the demonic hosts that large media networks can conjure up from chthonic realms. Add to this that j’ismists are a particularly poisonous and vindictive breed of hydra with multiple heads in Twatter, fakebook, new stories where they can repeatedly bring up the old claim and phrase it as if any judgement in their favour really addresses the substance of the accusation etc.”

Quite so ML. Just look at what Nine has done with BRS. Also, this is why Craig McLachlan spectacularly dropped his defamation case against Nine earlier this year. These media outlets pull out everything to destroy a person’s character and livelihood, they have very deep pockets. I’m very glad Laming pursued this. He’s done us all a favour.

We ate so much food, and drank so much wine at an Agritourismo yesterday that we went without dinner. Boy, can those Croatians eat!

This morning I have tried the “black pig”, a type of gamey prosciutto. Yikes, is it strong! The Beloved foolishly picked up a couple of snags – turned out to be black pudding. He manfully ate a few bites then gave up. I bet he tries the haggis when we finally get to Scotland.

Just thinking it out loud (well, in type), these texts of Zach Rolfe.

Presumably these texts will be meant to establish that he is raaaacist and therefore his raaaacism infects how he conducted himself as a police officer.

But, in that case, just present evidence of these raaaaacist actions as a police officer.

What if he really had gripes with Aborigines, but it never affected his work and he, in his duties, conducted himself properly and professionally? How could they matter if he does not have a history of targeting Aborigines?

I am not Zach. I have no insight into his mind or heart. But I would posit the possibility he has had run ins with violent miscreants before, in the course of which he may have been injured even if not to the point of it being debilitating – but bloody hurt. Especially if he has to bottle up his anger to maintain professional composure. Well, that energy has to go somewhere, and if he fritters it away in texts rather than storing it up for a heart attack or a psychotic break, then fine.

Everyone has a store of jokes that are ‘inappropriate’, but they have a role. Some might be to add a roguish veneer when hanging out with the lads, some might be about ridiculing a particularly annoying person by playing on a stereotype (like SHY and hysterical women, or Uber drivers and the unscrupulous business ethics of Indians – or the lazy entitlement of white Australians – shit, where to start there? Postcodes that start with ‘2’?) – and maybe to vent after yet another drug-fucked hoodlum scores a (luckily) glancing blow to your skull with a crowbar while screaming that you are a ‘white cunt’.

Only a lefty, or a grub lawyer, would think every passing thought is done under oath.

Kamala Harris On NBC: We’re Only A Legitimate Democracy If Democrats Are In Power

There is no logical end to Kamala and every other Democrat leader’s thought process other than: Only we can run things legitimately.

Democrats and their fangirls in the national media pretend they have this thoughtful, nuanced view about where the country is right now, but it really boils down to: None of America’s institutions or political processes are lawful nor legitimate unless we’re the ones controlling them.

Elections, Supreme Court decisions, legislation signed into law, “norms,” etc. All of it holds meaning so dear to their hearts.*

Except when Republicans are in power, in which case it’s all fraudulent.

That dynamic was reinforced in virtually everything Vice President Kamala Harris said during an interview that aired Sunday with NBC’s Chuck Todd. She said the Senate filibuster rule should be discarded for Democrat priorities, but believed it should be maintained for everything else. Roll the tape…

Rising yuan-ruble trade for oil a threat to dollar dominance and next step towards internationalizing China’s currency.

Earlier this year (February?) Dover kindly posted an article I wrote named ‘ The Putin Gambit – Part 2’. That post examined the financial fortifications Russia had been making since 2014. In part I wrote: “This currency shift partly stems from agreement between Russia and China where the two countries agreed an initial currency swap deal worth 150 billion yuan ($24.5 billion) back in 2014. The deal has been substantially extended and rejigged but it now allows each country’s central bank to gain access to the other’s currency (in addition to some other currencies) without trading via the US dollar.

Then in 2016 the Russian alternative to the SWIFT financial transfer scheme arrived. Named the System for Transfer of Financial Messages (SPFS) it is similar to SWIFT in terms of technology and infrastructure. Undoubtedly a minnow by comparison to SWIFT but that isn’t the point. Russia’s banks are all connected and if Russia is cut off from SWIFT, they will transition to the intra- and interbank messaging which now includes the Chinese banks and those of a few other countries.
Further, Russian banks are all well advanced with introducing blockchain and using it in international payments and have been doing so since 2017.

Which brings us to international trade……..”

At first pass it may be befuddling why the western intelligence services didn’t connect the dots since 2014. Arrogance? Asleep at the wheel? Russia and China were becoming chummier and chummier and it wasn’t as if China had been a solid pro-western asset (Uyghurs, South & East China Seas, Hong Kong etc). And the blossoming Russia/China relationship and growing interdependence was on full public display. But in fact, it was deeply alarming to western intelligence.

From President Xi’s perspective, he is convinced that China’s ‘moment in time’ is fast approaching and that a resurgent east will soon dominate a declining west – and this belief is shared by Putin. The sanctions imposed on Russia have a clear sub-text to China lest it have any thoughts about Taiwan. However, if China were to invade Taiwan the sanctions imposed on China would result in the global economy screeching to a halt and how long could the west maintain the pressure?

But in any event we should recognise what is really happening: China has cemented a reliable and uninterruptable supply of energy, minerals and other resources it will use to achieve its destiny. It cannot allow itself to be reliant on the west which includes ring-fencing its financial and economic health. By happy coincidence, China’s huge neighbour has mineral resources in abundance and what’s more, is deeply offended at decades-long western efforts to suppress and isolate it with various sanctions (even before the invasion) and has repeatedly acted to cauterize or contain the Russian military via NATO. It is also longing to get into the economic bed with a large and powerful partner.

IMO, the West recognised (if belatedly) the implications of a Russian/Chinese alliance and as offensive as the Russian invasion of Ukraine may be, it serves a purpose in that there is a far bigger issue at stake. Namely, that western governments have determined that Russia must be substantially diminished so that its alliance with China is of far less value which correspondingly inhibits China’s global plans. In addition, a poor Russian outcome in the war must see Putin and his political party replaced with a leader* who are more accommodating of the western doctrine and who will choke off specific supplies to China, or at a minimum, doesn’t fully engage. China might (just might) be containable by itself but there is no chance as it feeds on inexhaustible raw material supplies from Russia, and unassailable finances.

Far fetched? Too many John le Carre books? Maybe I am way off but it is undeniable that there are always wheels within wheels when we examine geopolitics and, the biggest game in town is a China/Russia alliance.

(* remember Navalny?. There was a glimmer of hope but that was snuffed out. Welcome to the big league Alexei).

Interesting; Tucker reports in Chicago black criminal gangs are operating with impunity with police directed now to arrest several gangs of blacks driving around and committing armed robberies. The same thing is happening in other demorat cities.

I’m pretty sure the mid terms are gone. They won’t be held. The demorats are going to continue to provoke a response from the general population and will enact martial law when even the slightest fightback such as some poor bastard shooting a black assailant occurs. it’s only a small step from what they are already doing.

Here we’ll have enough to worry about with blackouts, food shortages and chunk warships in Sydney harbour. Plus pile ons.

Enough with all this free-and-easy identity bs. I pinkie swear that I truly rooly was a librarian for the last three years of my teaching life. And I loved it!

A teacher librarian, I took every class from kindy to year 12, keeping them up to date with current affairs (from a bipartisan perspective*,) assisting seniors with their SACE requirements and fostering a love of language and books. Such a pleasure and a privilege to be part of the education of those young lives.

*We were allowed to do that in those days: present both sides of a policy or situation. I’m just happy that I retired while teaching was still an honourable profession.

Oprah hints at Sussexes’ chance of reconciliation with the royal family
By Keiran Southern
The Times
An hour ago September 14, 2022
2 Comments

American chat-show host Oprah Winfrey has said the Queen’s death could offer the Duke and Duchess of Sussex a chance to be reconciled with their family.

Winfrey conducted an infamous television interview with the couple in March 2021 that ruptured relations with Buckingham Palace.

Meghan Markle claimed that an unnamed member of the royal family had raised “concerns” about how dark her son Archie’s skin would be and said she felt abandoned while struggling with suicidal thoughts.

Since moving to Montecito, California, the pair has continued to comment on life as former working members of the royal family. Prince Harry is expected to release a memoir this year.

Hostilities have appeared to thaw in the days since the Queen’s death, with the Prince of Wales inviting his brother and sister-in-law to greet well-wishers with him and the Princess of Wales outside Windsor Castle.

“All families come together for a common ceremony, the ritual of, you know, burying your dead; there’s an opportunity for peacemaking … And hopefully, there will be that,” Winfrey, 68, told US showbiz television show Extra.

In a separate interview with her friend Gayle King, Winfrey appeared reluctant to discuss the royal family further.

“I do not get into people’s family matters,” she said.

“Everybody who has experienced some challenges in their families with in-laws or brothers or sisters knows how difficult those challenges can be.

“I’m sure for the royal family it’s no different.”

Some commentators have speculated that the US public may be growing bored with the Sussexes, who have signed multimillion-dollar deals with Spotify and Netflix.

Royal biographer Tom Bower told the Palace Confidential podcast in July: “I think they have to realign their image. In any case, they are burning their royal status pretty fast now. I think they will, in the end, have to give that up because it won’t wash.”

Harry ‘Snapper’ Organs, on the trail of Doug and Dinsdale:

The Piranhas realized they had gone too far and that the hunt was on. They went into hiding. I decided on a subtle approach, viz some form of disguise, as the old helmet and boots are a bit of a giveaway. Luckily my years with Bristol Rep. stood me in good stead, as I assumed a bewildering variety of disguises.

I tracked them to Cardiff, posing as the Reverend Smiler Egret. Hearing they’d gone back to London, I assumed the identity of a pork butcher, Brian Stoats. On my arrival in London, I discovered they had returned to Cardiff, I followed as Gloucester from ‘King Lear’.

Acting on a hunch I spent several months in Buenos Aires as Blind Pew, returning through the Panama Canal as Ratty, in ‘Toad of Toad Hall’.

Back in Cardiff, I relived my triumph as Sancho Panza in ‘Man of la Mancha’ which the ‘Bristol Evening Post’ described as ‘a glittering performance of rare perception’, although the ‘Bath Chronicle’ was less than enthusiastic. In fact it gave me a right panning.

Today I watched the ABC Four Corners hit job on Qantas first aired a couple of weeks ago.

As someone who wrote about airlines for a living for 25 years, I found it was nothing more or less than a square-up by the left’s government propaganda unit on behalf of unions still smarting from Alan Joyce’s 2011 decision to ground the entire Qantas fleet to kneecap unions’ attempt to forestall management’s drive to turn the airline into a lean, profitable entity facing an onslaught of low-cost competition from aggressive full-service raiders like Emirates, which undercuts QF business class fares by 50% or more.

Union hacks like Steve Purvinas, federal secretary of the Australian Licensed Engineers association cut off at the knees by Alan Joyce is 2011, featured prominently in the ABC’s hit job on the national carrier, backed by anti-business academics who sounded like communist revolutionaries and health bureaucrats fretting that the airline’s management didn’t buy government Kung Flu hysteria after 2020.

That is why the Australian left regards the ABC as an irreplaceable propaganda asset.

“‘Dr’ Jill Jill Biden Thinks It’s Un-American To Oppose Porn in School Libraries”

Of course she would think this, this is the woman who probably turned a blind eye to her creepy pervert of a husband showering with their daughter. Anyway, as for porn, it’s already in American schools. The always excellent Powerline had a piece a few days ago by John Hinderaker called “Corruption in Public Schools”, and how a book called “Gender Queer” is currently found in Minnesota public schools.

https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2022/09/corruption-in-the-public-schools.php

As you can see, if you click on the link and glimpse some of the book’s pictures, “Gender Queer” ain’t the Karma Sutra. What’s clear is that the American public school system, long fragile, has collapsed.

I try and be optimistic about the future, particularly the future of the US, and men like Ron DeSantis give me hope but if American children attending public schools in the US are reading such putrid filth, my hopes fade. Get the children, get them young and groom them. Foucault is laughing.

Oh and I reckon Putin wouldn’t allow such “instructional” books in Russian school libraries. Russian kids are probably still learning quaint things like reading, writing and maths. Golly gosh, how utterly reactionary.

Vince: At first yeah”

That is an essential background to “Sancho! My armor!”

which is why I prefer Putin to the new American establishment.

There is a third option.

It’s important to note that a regime change in Russia would achieve far less that a regime change in the US. A regime change in the US could achieve a level of freedom that isn’t forthcoming in Russia.

Researchers generate fusion at 100 million Kelvin for 20 seconds (Phys.org, 8 Sep)

Wind and solar are also “free”, but it’s the capture and generation of it that costs money. Regular nuclear is also free, but isn’t. Fusion needed to be made cheaper than all alternatives to succeed.

IMO, the West recognised (if belatedly) the implications of a Russian/Chinese alliance and as offensive as the Russian invasion of Ukraine may be, it serves a purpose in that there is a far bigger issue at stake.

There has been very little, if any, public discussion about the Russian economic talk-fest recently in eastern Russia, and the accompanying joint Russian and Chinese war games.

Of particular importance was the involvement of the Indian military in these Russian war games. India participated with China at Russia’s request; I’d think it impossible for China and India to jointly cooperate on anything at any time given their mutual hatred, but there you go, Chinese and Indian military joining together with Russia for their war games.

Who’d have thunk it?

Presidential EO 13818 and 13848 confirmed that the target of these orders was Joe Biden and foreign interference in American elections.

These orders had sunset clauses and if a legitimate administration was in charge of the Whitehouse then they would have expired.

These orders have been renewed under the illegitimate Biden administration.

That doesn’t make any sense.

Further detail on Mr. Dorante-Day, from the abovementioned piece:

A British-born Aussie

Strike one.

who believes he is the lovechild of King Charles III and Queen consort Camilla has said it is a ‘kick in the face’ to see William named as the Prince of Wales.

And:

Both of Mr Dorante-Day’s adoptive grandparents had worked for the Queen and Prince Philip in one of their royal households and he claims his adoptive grandmother told him he was the son of Charles and Camilla.

Which is exactly what you’d say to a precocious little mong to get him off your case, and to give him something to do for the next 50 years. Strike two.

Mr Dorante-Day’s case alleges King Charles and Queen consort Camilla began their close relationship in 1965, a year before his birth certificate says he was born.

Except:

But his timeline of events contradicts official records that say the new King and Camilla met each other five years after Mr Dorante-Day’s birth.

Strike three.

Mr Dorante-Day insists that Camilla kept him until he was eight months old, hiding him from the world with the help of the royal family and protection officers, and claims to have been told it was a condition of the adoption that his names Simon and Charles were not changed.

However by eight months he was growing too big to hide and it was arranged for the daughter of a royal household staff member – Mr Dorante-Day’s adoptive grandmother – to take him under her care.

So several thousand of the world’s best dirt journos, right there in Fleet Street, along with their open chequebooks somehow missed that Prince Charles porked some minor royal, and which resulted in a child subject to super-secrecy provisions, and they missed it for over 50 years while not one of the hundreds of royal staffers leaked that there was a rogue baby at large in somebody’s palace.

This really is world-class grifting.

For me, as an energy wonk, this is the most significant missing element of public discussion on this whole horrific fuckup.

Putin’s Russia is in the process of becoming owned by China (and to a lesser extent, India). Heavily discounted energy exports is the win-win-win loss leader for Vlad the Invader.

Looking beyond the next couple of European winters, it’s also the Russian future.

Well done Kremlin chaps. Hope (for all our sakes) that most Russians are happy to see themselves as an Asian client state when prices calm down.

(And fuck you, NATO strategic geniuses, for missing this inevitability.)
