OK out with it.
How can upticks be manipulated.
Those claiming they can be……show us how.
Or STFU.
I admit I do not know how to do it.
It seems to me that those upticks annoy the fuck out of the little gang of sneerers which includes JC, and no one else.
Funny that. …….now why would that be?

A rabbi, a priest, and an imam were walking down a deserted road when they stumbled upon a pot filled with gold coins. After a few moments they all agreed that, being men of God, they can’t take all the gold for themselves. They have to give something back to God. The Priest said “I’m going to draw a square on the ground and throw the pot high in the air. Whatever fells inside the square is mine to take, whatever fells outside is God’s”. Next the Imam said “I’m going to draw a circle on the ground and throw the pot high in the air. Whatever fells inside is God’s and whatever fell outside is mine to keep”. After a few seconds the Rabbi said “I’m going to draw an equilateral triangle on the ground, then I will throw the pot in the air. Whatever God keeps is his, whatever falls back is mine”.

JC,

No I don’t. You owe me an apology for pretending you understood what Fester said and now showing you have no clue. Man up Bush.

Oh I understand the theory about snowfall well enough, JC. Have done for at least 15yrs. Cold air contains very little moisture, it’s dry air.
I’d say Bruce was highlighting the last 25yr period because according to the screaming cultists, like monty, it’s “all happening now!!!”. When in fact nothing is happening now, at all.
Bruce was replying to monty at the time.

It’s also pointless going back to the start of that time series to make your argument as it proves nothing being only 50yrs. These cycles go for a lot longer than that.

You have a comprehension problem and are very prone to seeing what you want to see in an other’s comments, as demonstrated yesterday during the uptick debate.
It’s called confirmation bias.

Apparently the perfect film has just been released.
Or at least as perfect as anyone could make a movie “based on powerful true events”
about a Powerful Woman of Colour leading an army of Powerful Women of Colour
against evil Europeans who will take over all of Africa if they’re not stopped.
A film so perfect it was not only written, directed and produced by Powerful Women,
but wherever possible, every role behind the camera, except probably Janitorial Services,
was filled by a Powerful Woman.
Typically though, racists and misogynists have tried to undermine this perfect movie
by pointing out the Powerful WoC and her Powerful WoC army
were the slave kingdom of Dahomey’s Waffen SS.

I took a closer look at his chart when you had the first go at me and I found that his 50 year chart actually shows a drop in snowfall. This appears something you dismiss with a casual wave. He wrong from his own chart alone.

Yea, 50 years when we’re talking about AGW is better than 25 years which is what the cracker came up with to suggest Fatboy is wrong.

Yeah, replies are exceptionally handy when one wants to give someone a nickname, and then launch into them.

Nothing encourages “novel” comments like the ongoing abuse of anyone who ever makes one that you disagree with.

Arky at 12.59:

We need to remind ourselves often that many of the things that seem novel and concerning to us today, be they antifa riots or Russian expansionism, are repeats of things that occur time after time and in their current incarnations are simply the same things in new clothes.

100%.

There is nothing new under the sun. Nothing. The events of the past few years are essentially no different to any other part of human history, because human nature cannot be denied. Current events are not the final stage of a master plan by mysterious faceless men and centuries in the making, despite the shriekery emanating from some quarters. Chicken Littling and doomsday culting are also part of the human psyche.

In the 90s, acid rain and the ozone layer were going to wipe out humanity.
In the 80s, nuclear war was going to kill us all because the Soviets were going to die on their feet.
Counterculture in the 60s and 70s.
The 40s were unthinkable.

We live in the most affluent, peaceful time with the longest lifespans since we as a species dropped from the trees. That is absolutely undeniable. Life, for most of us, is not nasty, brutish and short any more.

In 1848 almost every country in Europe was racked with revolution. The simplicity of living with your family under the one roof in safety was a pipe dream as differing ideologies fought and killed in the streets. For millennia before that, and going back to the Bronze Age survival was entirely dependent on the armies carving paths to and from and over wherever your home was that year, and dependent on which empire was in ascendancy and/or subject to rebellion.

It’s the same today. The masks are different, and the ideologies involved are still a disguise for power grabs by powerful people. However, and in this country at least nobody today will have their home taken over by soldiers on their way to somewhere else, and have their food stocks emptied and family raped before they leave.

I’m not saying the last couple of years should be written off. They were shit, and premium quality shit at that. But it wasn’t new, and humans will continue to survive and – dare I say it – thrive.

But it seems that the richest and most powerful people in the world are working hard to redress that and drag us back to the dark ages. The world has always been multi-polar. What has changed is that there is now a real potential for technological enslavement never before even envisaged and certainly not possible. I don’t know. The most proximate and immediate threats to Europe are Globalists and their Green Kult. Epicenter Germany.

Bottom line: the greatest threat to Europe, a massive engine of the coming global famines, are Globalists and Germany. Globalists in the United States, Japan, Canada — all are massive contributors to the incredible death toll unfolding in 2023-24 and beyond.

That is certainly what the GAE want everyone to believe following the SCO meeting; and they think that reporting it as such will conjure this reality.

The Chinese reporting is trying its best to conjure this reality too. It’s all about Helmsman Xi’s Third (and subsequent) term running the Han Empire.

No Vaseline for the Poot: the Samarkand Declaration makes very clear who is giving and who is receiving. The Weird Echoes of ‘1984’ in Joe Biden’s 2022

I remember discussing “1984” in school. Now, we’re all living some of it.

The teacher was clearly leading us to see George Orwell’s 1949 masterpiece as a dire warning about what a society of doublespeak would be like. She said such doublespeak and erasure of the past was actually quite possible someday and these United States could become a dystopian society.

I had to look that up too – “denoting an imagined state or society where there is great suffering or injustice.” With the overpowering wisdom of a 16-year-old, I was quite skeptical. I probably chuckled.

Not anymore.

“War Is Peace. Freedom Is Slavery. Ignorance Is Strength.” (“1984”)

I noticed evidence of doublespeak during college in the 1960s. Lyndon Johnson declared the United States was winning the war in South Vietnam, so he needed to send thousands more young draftees to the beautifully awful battlefield of South Vietnam. I imagine Vladimir Putin is saying the same thing about Russia’s unprovoked and disastrous invasion of Ukraine these days.

But it wasn’t really until 2020, when enough voters in just the right places ignored the obvious signs of Joe Biden’s addled mind, that I became an enlisted believer.

In a campaign town hall designed to woo voters, he called one impertinent questioner a “dog-faced pony soldier.” That’s a nonsense phrase. But most of us could discern it wasn’t a compliment.

Another time, Biden asked an Iowa audience what they thought of Ohio’s infrastructure. You know how all those four-letter, flyover states tend to confuse Easterners.

Warren Harding, in 1920, was the last candidate to run a front-porch presidential campaign where voters, sometimes 6,000 in an afternoon, came to his home at 320 Mount Vernon Ave in Marion, Ohio to hear him call for a “return to normalcy” after the 1918 flu pandemic and World War I.

Radio and television, then chartered jets, changed all that, enabling candidates like Donald Trump to speak at three or four mass rallies in as many states on the same day.

Not Joe Biden. For unexplained reasons likely tied to health, he conducted much of the campaign from his Delaware basement with fake bookshelves as a Zoom backdrop. Then, in the White House, he built a fake Oval Office across the street from the real one, again absent explanation.

When he did come upstairs in Delaware, Biden’s campaign days usually wrapped by 10:30 or 11:00 in the morning.

It’s a beautiful thing, the destruction of words.”

Biden, who hasn’t grocery-shopped since he had real hair, declared that inflation of “one-tenth of one percent” didn’t worry him. What does worry Joe Biden, beyond cutting out early on Fridays for his beach house? Well, it sure worries a lot more of us who do not live with 24-hour servants in luxurious government housing. The actual latest year-over-year inflation was 8.3 percent. “Today’s data,” Biden boasted, “show more progress in bringing global inflation down in the U.S. economy.”

Tell Big Brother it’s not.

He spoke at a “celebration” of his falsely-named Inflation Reduction Act that will pump another $485 billion into the economy already overheated by some $5 trillion of new spending in just the 20 months since he began shaking hands with invisible friends publicly. Plus, likely another trillion to come in college-debt payouts financed by all taxpayers, regardless of education level.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi added the act is already “driving down costs for kitchen-table items for America’s working families” who’ve seen for themselves that on the contrary, prices for food items have jumped 11.4 percent, the most in 43 years.

Biden, the ignorant autocrat, also was pleased to point out that gas prices are down $1.30 over the summer. Apparently, he didn’t have time to admit that’s not quite half the increase since he took office and began his campaign to cripple the fossil fuel industry.

Kamala Harris, his vice-presidential salad chef, told a national TV audience “We have a secure border.” This, as government figures showed apprehensions of illegal crossers nearing two million this fiscal year, a new record with two months left.

“Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing.”

The Biden crowd continues to maintain its great economic progress. Its members simply deny that the two recent consecutive quarters of economic decline are a recession and its complicit media go along. In a classic example of 1984 doublespeak, Treasury Secy. Janet Yellen told NBC recently, “Even if that (GDP) number is negative, we are not in a recession.”

Here is some contradictory evidence:

From steady, consistent growth of 2.5% a year, stock market gains of nearly 35%, and low inflation averaging around 2% during the Trump years, we have descended to this economic hell, created by an incompetent president and his team that brags about his terrible performance.

Faced with that inflation and an incompetent president, the stock market has cratered in recent days, erasing trillions in family savings, investments, and dreams.

Biden falsely claims to be getting inflation under control. But that invisible tax has produced a 16 percent hike in electricity costs and 33 percent in natural gas prices and erased wage gains. Indeed, Bidenflation has actually cut wages by 3.4 percent in the last year.

Last week the American Institute for Economic Research warned:

The United States appears to be entering the same economic malaise of bloated bureaucracy, excessive taxation, and spiraling inflation that typified the Carter years….. Perhaps the most telling fact of all is that our elected officials and policymakers haven’t a clue how to reverse these trends. Indeed, they are still feeding them.

New Bureau of Labor Statistic figures reveal that on average last year, U.S. citizens paid $16,729 in taxes. That is $1,234 more than they spent on health care, food, and clothing combined.

“The choice for mankind lies between freedom and happiness. And for the great bulk of mankind, happiness is better.”

We’d like to think that such information will drive enough voters to face the dismal facts, rather than the Biden lies, distortions, and giveaways.

And that they will 1) turn out to vote on or before Nov.8, and 2) remove control of Congress from Democrats to paralyze their wanton spending. Republicans have at times been less than stalwart in opposition. But almost anything is better than the Pelosi/Schumer tag team bank-busters.

We’d like to think that. But here’s another actual stat, an ominous one that suggests that 1984 happiness with gimmes might just win out over the nation’s historical quest for freedoms. And perhaps the obviously addled Joe Biden is a sharper schemer than he appears.

Few people realize that last year, a majority of Americans – 57 percent – paid no federal income taxes. None. Zip. Nada. This generosity, enhanced by succeeding administrations and Congresses, means that 43 percent of Americans are paying the taxes for 100 percent.

Which also means the immense ongoing costs of servicing five or six trillion dollars in new debt alone – and Lord knows what other super spending sums Democrats could insert into future falsely-labeled legislation — has absolutely no effect on their wallets.

So, ominously, happiness could indeed seem better to a decisive many than freedom.

“That such a wavering, gutless, fence sitter with no morals could be leader of the Liberal Party astounds me.”

What took you so long? It was clear to me the Liberal Party was filled with wavering, gutless, spineless, supine fence sitters back in September 2015 and it’s been downhill ever since. And the National Party is no better, although it has one or two more decent characters, such as Canavan and Pitt. As for Beetroot Man, the less said the better….he was on PM Live a week or two ago, before the Queen’s passing, complaining how voters voted the way they did in May 2022, this was the same leader of the National Party who willingly signed his party up to net zero emissions in November 2021. A man with integrity would have advised his party room that it was a firm NO and if so, it was time to walk away from the Coalition, but no, instead he preferred the power, even whilst selling out his base. The voters got it right in May 2022.

And watch the Liberals continue to waver, continue to be gutless, continue to fence sit and continue to have no morals when it comes to the Voice.

If we starve, it would be deliberate.

We could literally eat feral animals like carp (YUCK!) if we had to but also native animals (kanagroo, murray cod) and so on.

There is no doubt several energy intensive processes for making sugars, proteins and fatty acids from other feedstocks like lumber, petrochemicals or simply water and air.

If there is a global cabal starting famines, they’d only kill people in the third world; I doubt their economies could be so tightly controlled unless they’re already in a crisis of sorts.

That such a wavering, gutless, fence sitter with no morals could be leader of the Liberal Party astounds me.

No, no, Barking Toad. Scott Morrison still IS the Stupid Fucking Liberal Party of Australia. The party doesn’t know who or what it is because of the ambiguity in its title.

Sir Robert Menzies was a great leader in a different era, but he wasn’t a deep thinker.

He wasn’t to know that, as he was becoming prime minister of Australia, Eric Blair, who used the pen name George Orwell, was writing his prophetic novels, 1984 and Animal Farm, about how fascist Big Government and his 1940s vision of Big Tech would eventually set out to crush human freedom.

Menzies should have known that liberalism, which naively imagines a thirst for change, would eventually be re-interpreted as a radical fanaticism to destroy whatever holds society together and that the fanatics would find their way into the Liberal Party of Australia.

The Liberal Party is now a party of fanatics and their polar opposites, rationalists cautious about sudden change, the latter reflecting the caution of the great Australian middle class.

Scott Morrison was the last gasp of the Turnbullian radicals, who hate the Australian middle class and want to destroy it via the latest anti-free market fad, Net Zero, which imagines a technological return to the backwardness of the 19th century — the exact opposite of “liberalism”.

Until I went to WA in 1980 I was apolitical. In those days WA was a fantastic place. The rise of Labor came about with the influx of Eastern Staters down on their luck and a chip on their shoulder. A bit like the exodus of blue states to red in the US, bringing their destructive politics with them. All I ever heard was how Ronnie was a second rate actor and incompetent. Somehow I saw some things that he’d written. They were not crazy like I was led to believe. Coupled with what I knew about the inner workings of the Labor Government having dealt with them and the generous nature of the Liberals at the time I realised I was a conservative even though I ended up voting for Hawke as the Federal Libs were a rabble. Naivety to the fore, not thinking State and Federal Labor were the same. Labor politics is the politic of envy. The more I read of Ronnie the more I find what a well rounded fellow he was. Not something expected in a politician.

At the end of the day, (in contrast to insurgencies) all industrial wars are dependent on the economic base that funds and supplies them. By that metric, Vlad is doing rather well: his traditional European enemies are all committing economic and energy suicide and his prices for gas etc are up, the Ruble is stronger, and even the US is being dragged along.

Ukraine: The CIA’s 75-year-old Proxy

Joe Biden “is fueling the fire in the Ukraine.”

— Roger Waters of Pink Floyd

It takes a musical artist to cut through the morass of propaganda to educate American mainstream media (MSM) about the Russia-Ukraine crisis and the role of the United States in instigating that conflict for its own nefarious ends.

The MSM have constructed an undiluted narrative about “Putin’s War” that disguises America’s imperialist expansion into eastern Europe. It is utterly Orwellian in its effort to project onto Russia what the U.S. and its main imperial ally, the UK (which a British journalist deemed “America’s tugboat”), have been doing non-stop since 1945 — and indeed for centuries.

Looking back, the U.S. under Truman began the policy of turning enemies (Germany, Japan) into friends and friends (the important war-time alliance with the USSR) into enemies. The CIA, established in 1947, was the main clandestine instrument of this policy, working closely with the neo-Nazi Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) to carry out acts to sabotage, divide and destabilize the Soviet state.

The OUN, in particular the faction led by the German ally Stepan Bandera and his second in command, Yaroslav Stetsko, OUN-B, was a violently anti-semitic, anti-communist, and anti-Russian organization, which collaborated with the Nazi occupation and actively participated in the slaughter of millions of Poles, Ukrainian Jews, and ethnically Russian and Ukrainian communists in the region. Nonetheless, The Washington Post treated Stetsko as a national hero, a “lonely patriot.”

The OUN-German alliance in 1941 was backed by the leaders of the Ukrainian Orthodox and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic churches. The latter’s archbishop, Andrey Sheptytsky, penned a pastoral letter that declared: “We greet the victorious German Army as deliverer from the enemy. We render our obedient homage to the government which has been erected. We recognize Mr. Yaroslav Stetsko as Head of State … of the Ukraine.”

On the occasion of the German invasion of the Soviet Union, the OUN put up posters in the western Ukrainian city of Lvov that read: “Do not throw away your weapons now. Take them in your hands. Destroy the enemy….People! Know! Moscow, Poland, the Hungarians, the Jews are your enemies. Destroy them!…Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes! Glory to the Leader! [Bandera]”

Notably, this call for ethnic cleansing does not cite the Germans then occupying Ukraine, yet the fascist and neo-Nazi propagandists who are waging a war in the Donbas region today portray their forebearers as heroes for having defended Ukrainian nationalism from the Soviets and Germany. The Pentagon successfully pressed Congress to lift restrictions on training and providing military assistance to groups, such as the Azov Battalion, that are based on fascist or neo-Nazi ideology.

As in the past, U.S. foreign policy is prepared to accommodate such sectors within its circle of allies. On December 16, 2021, a draft resolution of the UN General Assembly was listed as “Combating glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fueling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance.”

It passed by a recorded vote of 130 in favor (mainly the Third World, constituting the large majority of the world’s population), 51 abstentions (mainly the EU, Australia, New Zealand and Canada), and two opposed, the two being Ukraine and the United States. The Western European countries that Hitler conquered and occupied would not condemn present-day manifestations of Nazism and fascism.

Harry Truman, infamously declared as a senator in 1940 in response to Operation Barbarossa that “If we see that Germany is winning, we ought to help Russia and if Russia is winning we ought to help Germany and that way let them kill as many as possible.” This showed what little regard he had for the Russian and other Soviet people — which became more evident when he became president.

Have not been paying to much attention here for past few weeks however
I note JC is very concerned about up ticking.

I can understand why he wants it to stop. For years he has been the most agressive poster here. He pursues vendettas like a hobby. I think it fair to say he has built up quite a significant number of people he has clashed with often over minor issues.

So when it comes to a disagreement involving him it is not surprising some will uptick to show their support either way. I often do this rather than join in the discussion which can often be a repeat of a previous one.

JC does not like the fact upticks reveal his support here is not as strong as he often likes to claim. No amount of feedback will ever change him.

So I am all for the uptick system.

I note JC was recently doxxed according to his many comments about it. I missed the actual incident. I don’t know if it was same person who doxxed him previously.

I do however think any doxxing of him is directly related to the agressive manner in which he posts here. Naturally he fails to recognise why it is him being doxxed.

If we were like Big Brother JC would be the first voted off the blog based on the anti fan club he has so methodically built up over years.

I took a closer look at his chart when you had the first go at me and I found that his 50 year chart actually shows a drop in snowfall. This appears something you dismiss with a casual wave. He wrong from his own chart alone. Yea, 50 years when we’re talking about AGW is better than 25 years.

If you read Plimer’s book (Green Murder is his latest) you will realise that temperature and CO2 measurements over a 25, 50 or even 500 year span are meaningless because the earths climatic cycles run to ‘geological time’ – ie millenia. The earths CO2 has been over 8000ppm in the past without runaway heating (so why worry about 450 ppm now) and yes the earth has been hotter (and colder) in the past. Indeed, for 70% of time, there has been no polar ice at all – so even if the planet is warming atm, so it should be, as its in a relatively cold phase currently.

Sadly, humans are easy prey to conmen and panics and ‘the madness of crowds’ and no amount of reason will change that.

Greens senator to attend anti-monarchy protest instead of Queen’s memorial

Greens senator Lidia Thorpe will snub the Queen’s memorial in Canberra on Thursday, breaking ranks with party leader Adam Bandt, who is attending the event.

With all federal MPs and senators invited to Parliament House, Senator Thorpe will instead be in Melbourne attending an Indigenous healing ceremony followed by an “abolish the monarchy” protest march.

The anti-monarchy protest march, organised by Warriors of the Aboriginal Resistance, is also aimed at raising awareness for Indigenous deaths in custody.

“On September 22, I’ll be mourning our ancestors and our old people who fought in the Frontier Wars and who died fighting for this country,” Senator Thorpe told The Australian.

“After a healing ceremony, I’ll be marching to protest over 500 deaths in custody since the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody. Treaty is the solution to the injustices we face, by bringing people together to end the war that started in 1788.”

Lydia Thorpe – 1/16th Aboriginal – took the oath of allegiance to the Queen to take her seat in the Senate…..Oh, and as for a Treaty, since when did a race conquered so utterly as the Australian Aborigine, have any say as to any Treaty?

Bill Maher yet again indicated that he has awakened, at least partially, from the Left’s enforced insanity on Friday when he declared that Critical Race Theory and transgender madness were going to drive people to vote for Donald Trump in 2024, even including people who are convinced that Trump is a “creep.”

The red-pilled Maher said, according to Fox News, “that left-wing propaganda is so predatory towards American school children, parents will be forced to vote for Trump, if he runs again.” He may be right. The Left has gone off the rails so resoundingly during the administration of Joe Biden’s handlers and has doubled and tripled and quadrupled down in its war on reality with such fanatical resolve, that there must be numerous Leftists around the country who realize how crazy the Democrats have gotten, and have had enough.

Farfetched? Not at all. Maher’s guest Julia Ioffe, who has impeccable credentials as a Leftist journalist (New York Times, Washington Post, Politico, MSNBC, PBS, you get the idea) said that even the negative aspects of Trump, whom every Leftist knows to be the focus of evil in the modern world, “weren’t bad enough for people to dissuade them for voting for him.”

Maher then explained that whether or not someone would actually do the last thing any bona fide Leftist could possibly contemplate doing, voting for Trump, “depends on what your priority [is].” He added: “To me, the two biggest issues are democracy and the environment. Those are my two big – one and two.” However, he was aware that others had different priorities: “But I don’t have kids,” Maher went on. “I know people who say, ‘I have kids, and I don’t like it when they come home and say, uh, they divided the class today into oppressors and oppressed. And if I change my sex, I don’t have to tell my parents.’ There’s s— like that going on.”

Yes, there is. Maher, according to Fox, then referred to “critical race theory and gender theory finding its way into public school lesson plans.” All this, he said, was making people believe that Trump represented the lesser of two evils. Maher said that it “makes me people go, ‘You know, I agree, Donald Trump is a creep. He is everything wrong that can be stuffed into one man, but I have these other considerations.’ That’s all.”

Maher also had strong words for Leftists who refused to consider the possibility that what he was saying was true: “And that’s why you seem like you have such contempt for half the country. I don’t think that’s going to get us where we need to go.” Speaking about the deep political divisions in the country today, he asked: “I think we’ve crossed this line and now the question is, how do we walk it back? How do we walk it back from, ‘I hate you so much that I can’t live with you?’ And we have to live with each other. This is not an apartment where we can put the tape down the middle of it. We have to find a way.”

We do, but the Left is indefatigably committed to the proposition that supporters of Trump are “insurrectionists” who represent a grave threat to “our democracy.” Leftists likewise believe that their opponents are bigoted and hateful for being skeptical about the possibility that men can become women and vice versa, and for daring to think that the massive numbers of people crossing the Southern border every day means that the border is open when it is, Kamala Harris tells us, completely secure. They just can’t see why Republicans aren’t grateful that Old Joe Biden has worked so hard to lower gas prices.

In other words, Leftists have completely departed from reality and from a rational assessment of the contemporary scene. While Maher is correct that we have to live with them, it’s like having to live in a house with an insane person: one must always be on guard, for one never knows what the insane one is going to do, or how much damage he is going to cause.

It is at least refreshing that a committed Leftist such as Maher can show signs of waking up from the insanity and deciding that he doesn’t want to along with it any longer. Maybe others will follow. We can hope.

Dumb Asphalt: Biden Starts Handing Out Grants to Rid Us of Racist Highways

Joe Biden has now officially taken his overcompensation for being an old white guy to the next level by handing out the first federal grants to dismantle our nation’s racist highways.

That is not a typo.

Rather than devoting federal resources to improving our national infrastructure, Biden is wasting millions to address the problem of “racist roads.” What makes a road racist? I’m just the messenger here, but according to MSNBC, so-called “racist roads” being targeted by Biden were “designed to facilitate white flight and deprive black communities of housing and commercial opportunities.”

Fellow white dude Pete Buttigieg, who occasionally makes appearances pretending to be the Transportation Secretary, confirmed that $104.6 million in federal funds from last year’s bipartisan infrastructure bill will be used to dismantle Interstate 375 in Detroit.

And the world will once again be a better place. Hallelujah, can I get an amen?

“This stretch of I-375 cuts like a gash through the neighborhood, one of many examples I have seen in communities across the country where a piece of infrastructure has become a barrier,” Buttigieg told the Associated Press. “With these funds, we’re now partnering with the state and the community to transform it into a road that will connect rather than divide.”

According to the Associated Press, “Detroit’s project would create a slower-speed boulevard that aims to improve safety by removing a steep curve and adding LED lighting, while removing 15 old bridges and two stormwater runoff pump stations and building out wider sidewalks, protected bike lanes and pedestrian crossings.”

Racism: solved.

It’s true that Putin is enjoying the high oil price, and pouring it back into the war. But he’s not achieving much with all that artillery, and he is running out of warm bodies above the ground.

It appears Kherson is where the action is at the moment. The Russians sank a bunch of railroad cars to attempt to cross the Dnieper River. Things getting a bit desperate for the Russkies.

DeSantis: There Were More Corporate Journalists In Martha’s Vineyard Today Than Have Ever Gone To The Southern Border

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis spoke Friday morning on the national uproar about his state government flying about 50 illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard:

GOV. RON DESANTIS:

I also was a little bit perplexed when I heard that the president is scrambling to get his cabinet together to try to address the fact that we have governors who are helping to relocate illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities.

He didn’t scramble to get his cabinet together when we had millions of people illegally poouring across the southern border. He didn’t scramble to get his cabinet together when you had 53 migrants die in some trailer in Texas because they were neglected by the federal government. He didn’t scramble to get his cabinet together when we had Americans that were victimized by criminal aliens that he let across the border. He didn’t scramble to get his cabinet together when we hit record fentanyl deaths, when that fentanyl is coming across his open border.

It is only when we had 50 illegal aliens end up in a very wealthy, rich sanctuary enclave that he decides to scramble on this. I think what we are doing is using every tool at our disposal to insulate the state of Florida from the negative ramifications of his reckless border policies.

And yes, that involves helping with transport. It involves suing on catch-and-release, which we have done. It involves making sure that contractors are held accountable if they’re involved facilitating this into our state. We have a state-wide grand jury looking into different types of practices that may be going on in the state and exacerbating the problem.

At the end of the day, this is a massive policy failure by the president. A massive and intentional policy that is causing a huge amount of damage all across the country, and it is all rooted in a failure to take care that the laws are faithfully executed and to fulfill his oath of office.

Instead of scrambling and worrying about a bunch of rich people and having 50, and by the way, they already bussed them out, they’re gone. They said they want everyone and nobody is illegal – and they’re gone within 48 hours. Why not actually look at what’s going on?

There were more Acela corporate journalists in Martha’s Vineyard today than have ever gone down to the Southern border to look at what’s going on. Why don’t you go down there and look at what those communities have to deal with every day.

Ukraine conflict could last until 2030 – Orban

Kiev could lose up to half of its territory, Hungarian PM reportedly said

The Ukraine conflict could last until 2030 and the West is to blame for making it global rather than local in nature, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said, according to US state-run broadcaster Radio Free Europe (RFE/RL).

Orban was reportedly speaking a week ago at a closed-door event involving his ruling Fidesz party, details of which are now being leaked to the media.

The Hungarian leader allegedly told his supporters that he believed Ukraine may end up losing between one third and one half of its territory due to the conflict with Russia, RFE/RL reported on Friday, citing participants of the meeting in the village of Kotcse on September 10.

The fighting between Moscow and Kiev – which is being helped by the US, EU and some other countries – could continue until 2030, Orban reportedly warned. The crisis in Ukraine started as a local conflict but the involvement of the West has turned it into a global affair, the prime minister said.

According to the report, Orban again lashed out at EU sanctions imposed on Russia over its military operation in Ukraine, saying the bloc had shot itself in the foot with those curbs.

The energy crisis, which occurred as a result of those restrictions, could force 40% of European industry to shut down this winter, he reportedly added.

In his speech, the Hungarian leader also allegedly revealed that European leaders are expected to decide on prolonging the sanctions for another six months later in autumn, insisting that an attempt should be made to prevent that extension.

The way things are going now, the eurozone and the EU itself could cease to exist by 2030, Orban was quoted as saying.

Hungary has remained relatively neutral since the outbreak of fighting in Ukraine in late February. It has refused to send arms to Kiev and consistently criticized EU sanctions on Moscow. Budapest, which is heavily dependent on Russian energy, was also able to negotiate an exemption for itself from the bloc-wide ban on Russian oil.

Who is Raymond J. Dearie, the special master in Trump case?

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who is presiding over the Trump documents case, granted Trump’s request for a special master and directed both his legal team and the Justice Department to provide a list of contenders for the job. Dearie was the only individual both sides agreed upon.

The longtime judge is now tasked with examining the more than 11,000 documents the FBI seized by Nov. 30.

Here are five things to know about Dearie.

1. Dearie is a former Reagan nominee
2. Served on the FISA court, ruled in Carter Page case
3. Justice Department says Dearie has ‘substantial judicial experience,’ but raises potential concern

The Justice Department did, however, raise one potential concern regarding Dearie serving as special master. Limits exist on how much outside work federal judges are permitted to take part in, as well as compensation they can receive. For senior status judges, however, those constraints are fewer, according to Bloomberg.

“The government’s understanding is that Judge Dearie currently remains on ‘senior active’ status,” the Justice Department wrote in its filing. “If this Court were to select Judge Dearie as the special master, the government would defer to the Court and Judge Dearie to determine whether the special master role would constitute outside employment and what rules and/or restrictions, if any, would apply to his serving in this capacity.”

Judge Cannon did not address that concern in her filing announcing Dearie’s appointment as special master.

4. The mob, al-Qaeda and the Duchess of York
5. Previously called for reforming federal sentencing laws

Brisbane, AUSTRALIA – SEP 1, 2022
UPDATED: SEP 1, 2022 1 September 2022. Inkstone Kitchen and Bar, Daydream Island. There haven’t been many of the almost 10,000 beers that I have struggled to get through but this “Italian” Premium Pale Lager really tested my perseverance. I did manage to get through it but it took me a while, the flavour was jus t too sweet, but not sweet in a good way. Another premium international beer that is not even brewed in its country of origin, I find that really misleading and deceiving, even though it it stated in the fine print on the label. When wondering what “Nastro Azzuro” means I thought surely it must be Italian for nasty alcohol but as it turns out it means blue ribbon, there is nothing blue ribbon about this beer. For a brewery that has been around since 1864 I would have thought that they would have this brewing thing down pat, and they probably do or at least did until the brewery become part of an international beer conglomerate. At 5.1% ABV this beer is thin and watery in the mouth and has a flavour that almost makes you gag. The aroma is no better than the flavour, wet straw and smelly socks come to mind.

From above

Few people realize that last year, a majority of Americans – 57 percent – paid no federal income taxes. None. Zip. Nada. This generosity, enhanced by succeeding administrations and Congresses, means that 43 percent of Americans are paying the taxes for 100 percent.

Does anyone know what those statistics would be for Australia?

Not offhand, but the solution (here and in the US) is for the federal government to stick to its Constitutional responsibilities, and leave the state governments to stick to theirs.

One method of doing this here would be for the income taxing powers be completely turned over to the states, and GST revenue to the Commonwealth. Everyone who buys anything subject to GST or excise would then contribute to Commonwealth funding.

The Commonwealth would fund its responsibilites (predominantly defence, foreign relations and quarantine) from excise and GST. The states could set the level of income tax each felt appropriate to fund policing, health, education, infrastructure et al).

With no Commonwealth funding available, the states should soon learn that waste all comes back to bite them.

Then it shouldn’t be a problem selling your car”. The following weekend, the blonde made the trip to the mechanic. The child ran back to his father and said “You lied to me!” His father replied “No, your mum was talking about her side of the family”.

Western political leaders are pretending this is not a collective intention.

Scroll down to the Image Build Back Better – sums up the above perfectly

That was “Woof” as in the noise a dog makes.
Not “Woof” as in the noise you make if you light a match near an open petrol can.

Inflating a possibility is the food of conspiracy nuts.

I call it ‘raising spectres’

it is indeed gas-lighting
and long the happy practice of the personality disordered
for them it is a means to an end
and the real tell is dressing up the dog-act in a pretty dress

Anyone who cares about the number of upticks is insecure IMHO.

Given the gas shortage in Europe are they going to revisit the pipeline from Israel via Greece which the US isn’t supporting for some unknown reason?
BTW if I read the word “uptick ” again in here I will fair dinkum spew up.

It is hard to differentiate between the two as to which is more arrogant but it appears that smart people in Germany didn’t see any problems with handing Russia, a nominal and actual Western rival, the power over their energy supply.

In the early 2000’s – just as Energiewendt was hitting its straps and Putin started to sort out the Russian energy oligarchs, who were then selling gas at clearance prices – I worked on a project to develop CSG in Germany.

I have fond memories of arrogant pricks from government and power companies chuckling at the naivety as our project team explained the advantages of having control of your own resources.

Thank you for your insights, gentlemen. I think you’ll find we have that matter well under control…

The gas is still there.

It is worth noting that nearly all the AGW
trend charts begin in the early 70’s.
This was a notably cold period in the world.

The 70’s were freaking cold. The creek regularly had ice all across it. A job was smashing the ice on the dogs water bowls. We slept in our pyjamas with tracksuits over the top. We all had chillblains on our toes. The frosts were so good we had a sled to drag each other around on it.

There’s only one thing worse than breaking up reinforced cement.
That’s finding your reward for doing this is Peroni beer.

Red label Peroni is ok, not the blue label stuff. Mind you 99% of Aussie beer is crap.

if I read the word “uptick ” again in here I will fair dinkum spew up.

I think it began as a way of making the blog more efficient, in that one could express agreement with another poster – as I just did in regard to dot’s post about Putin’s imperialism – without adding needlessly to the thread. I don’t think people should become obsessed with it; arguments & comments stand on their merits, not the number of ticks they receive.

You weren’t breaking up cement ( reinforced or unreinforced)
You were breaking up concrete .
Hire a demo saw and cut it into squares
