I’m being rhetorical, but do people here really understand just how pervasive this gerbil warming bullshit is now? I was have a chat with the trader on the street earlier this morning. As we’re talking and sipping coffee, this lunatic randomly walks past and loudly says ..(paraphrasing) “look at all this petrol cars ruining the atmosphere. Go electric you arseholes”. He was yelling that out to cars waiting for the traffic lights. There’s no reasoning with these people and there are lots of them.

Rubio is an opportunist.
So is De Santis.
Cocaine Mitch is the best guy the Repubs have ever had.
It wasn’t that long ago, the Repubs only won the Senate once in a Generation, then lost it 2 years later.

McConnell spent hardly anything in AZ and NV but spent 9M in Alaska.
Trump endorsed Sarah Palin in the House and Kelly Tshibaka in the Senate.
Palin was well beaten and Tshibaka will likely lose in a Runoff.
It’s a battle for the Republican Party.
Since Trump was a Democrat until 2015, letting him win might turn out to be a dumb idea.

You underestimate the FSB

Russian administrators are being potted by insurgents in the occupied areas in the middle of a state of martial law. This is what plagued the Germans in Yugoslavia. Slavs. Slavs are the second best haters on Earth after muslims. About a thousand years of history are behind this mindset. Not going away overnight.

And the rest of Europe will be funneling light weapons to them all the while. Including AT missiles, which have been shown to be so effective and so portable. There is no way with Russia’s current political structure for them to control an existentially pissed-off Ukrainian population. Under communism it could be done, or under mature fascism, but Russia’s current half-arsed fascism isn’t going to do it. The totalitarianism is all in the top oligarch and political stratum, the ordinary people are too Westernized now. That’s why Putin has been leaning so heavily on the back country types like the Buryatis. Who aren’t happy either.

I’d never heard about this climate lockdown stuff before.

It will be in the form of restrictions and rations. Refining capacity is being wound down globally. Oil production and exploration is being regulated down to bare minimums. Eventually there will be diesel and petrol rationing. With big incentives of EV’s to offset the stick and save the planet. You could see mandatory garnisheeing of salaries to pay for the transition to cleaner energy.

That’s roughly where it’s headed.

Don Stuber wrote a piece saying his exited Trump support. Today, he revisits Trump and what an excellent piece it is.

Thank you, Donald Trump

Before I wrote, “Life after Trump,” I should have written this post thanking President Donald John Trump.

Allow me to correct this by quoting one of my dearest and now confused readers. To protect his identity, I will simply call him Mister Jones.

He wrote, “Trump gave us a conservative majority SCOTUS….tax cuts…..lowest unemployment in recorded history, especially for POC….Started no new military ‘conflicts’….Jerusalem embassy….world respect…USA out of climate accords….tough on China…. need I go on? Continue to Refresh the memory? Remind who brought us to the dance?

“Ungrateful bastards. ?Fetterman’s got a legit reason for memory loss.??.”

No presidential candidate was more hated, despised and ridiculed by the media. Lincoln comes closest but at least a few major newspapers had his back. Trump had no one. Not even Fox. Remember those dreadful Fox All-Star panels? Charles Krauthammer and Jonah Goldberg battled over who could smear him the best. It was the Fox version of The View with three men and a dame.

I said in my piece that The Donald kept Hillary from being president. He also kept Jeb! from being president. He’s like Murkowski’s brother from another mother.

Trump took the blows with humor. When Jeb! complained that he had insulted his mother and then praised her no end, Trump reported, “She should run.”

I still laugh at that one six years later.

I look at Trump’s accomplishments and think of cartoonist Bob Thaves line about Fred Astaire in his Frank and Ernest cartoon: “Sure he was great, but don’t forget that Ginger Rogers did everything he did backwards and in high heels.”

The high heels they slapped on President Trump were the Bobby Mueller investigation into a lie called Russiagate that really was about covering up Obama using the FBI to spy on Trump.

This was Watergate times a million and not one of our institutions it Washington did a thing to stop it or to hold that self-righteous communist accountable. Hillary should be in jail, sure. Her cellmate should be Obama.

The failure to cry foul is why Americans have no respect for the DC press, Chief Justice Roberts or Congress whether is run by Republicans or Democrats. Paul Ryan and His RINOs took a dive in 2018 just to spite him. Ryan cashed in as a lobbyist. We must end floor privileges for congressmen.

But I digress. Trump like Palin fought. Unlike Palin, he won. He killed Roe v. Wade through the Trump Triplets he put on the Supreme Court. They will also give Justice Clarence Thomas the votes he needs to strike down the insult to the Constitution we call affirmative action.

The embassy in Jerusalem is magnificent. His Abraham Accords brought peace and the formal recognition of Israel by five Muslim nations.

He kept us out of war. He tried to negotiate peace with Kim Jong Un. He kept us out of the Paris accord and TPP. He woke the world up to the threat of Red China.

But above all, President Trump took one for the team — Team MAGA. And by one I mean hundreds. The daily harassment, legal threats and flat-out lies would have broken a lesser man.

Critics say he has a large ego. Well, you need something to serve as a buffer from the constant attacks. Given that he helped save New York, built a billion-dollar empire, wrote best-sellers, had a top-ranked TV show and won the presidency on his first try for public office, I would say he earned bragging rights on many, many fronts.

Donald Trump indeed brought us to the dance.

Three gentlemen are golfing one sunny day. They come to a difficult par with a water trap just after the tee. The first golfer proceeds to hit his ball right into the water. To retrieve it, he simply approaches the body of water and extends his golf club. The water parts, he takes his next shot and it lands on the green.

The second golfer hits his ball towards the water, but rather than sink, the ball floats on top of the water. The golfer nonchalantly walks across the water and hits the ball onto the green.

The third golfer hits his ball directly into the water, where it quickly starts to sink. As the ball sinks, a fish grabs the ball in its mouth.

At that very moment, a hawk plucks the fish out of the water and begins to carry it aloft. As the bird soars higher, a bolt of lightning startles the bird, which then drops the fish into a nearby tree. When the fish hits a branch of the tree, the ball pops out, rolls down the trunk of the tree, across the green and right into the hole…

Moses turns to Jesus and says “You know, I really hate golfing with your Father”.

Fatty Trump has been one of the most significant public figures in my lifetime, if not the most significant.

The man is a legend. I was initially very sceptical of him and had little time for him before (or for a while after) he began his run for the Oval Office.

But he had this wonderful habit of annoying all the “right” people. His putdowns of the pygmies trying to stop him became the stuff of legend.

His demolition of poor li’l ol’ Jeb! being a classic case in point. So little effort, so much irreparable damage.

However, the Fatty Trumpism* movement is now a dinosaur thrashing around in a tar pit after the meteor has hit.

To have any hope of resurrection and reinvention, the USA must reject the current gerontocracy. Apart from Desantis though, I’m not sure who else can take on the dumbocrat kakistocracy – or if there’s even any point, given the blatant cheating now manifesting itself in their elections.

At the very least, Fatty Trump should run for the presidency again, but hopefully not destroy the Rethuglicans’ chances of winning, which he may do if he isn’t the successful candidate.

The Australian has up on its site a puff piece on an unsavoury homosexual activist by the name of Peter Tatchell. Tatchell is an Australian who has lived in the UK for decades and decades. Tatchell also has some highly questionable (and sinister) opinions. Anyway it’s a fawning piece about his (questionable) accomplishments. A few weeks ago Tatchell travelled to Qatar to protest the country’s treatment of LGBTQI+ individuals. Being a Muslim nation, it doesn’t tolerate LGBTQI+ ideology and Tatchell was arrested and deported. Anyway, the piece in the Oz is a disgrace and it omits a particular incident (and it’s not the only questionable incident Tatchell’s been involved in) so I wrote a comment as follows….

“Umm, this turgid puff piece tries to make Tatchell out to be a saint and hero. He is neither. Julie Bindel, the British lesbian feminist, nailed the real Tatchell last year in a piece in the online magazine Unherd, “Peter Tatchell is not a perfect man”.

I also note the curious omission of Tatchell’s infamous apologia for child-abuse. Why? Probably because it doesn’t fit the above hagiography. It is a fact that in 1997 Tatchell wrote a letter to the UK Guardian supporting a book called Dares to Speak. This book was a favourable exploration of child sexual abuse, and it stressed the “positive nature” of some adult male/boy child sexual relationships.

As Julie Bindel wrote, Peter Tatchell is not a perfect man, and the reality is that he is as far as you can get from being from a perfect man”

REJECTED.

I somehow think that if a right-wing or conservative politician or commentator, or a priest or rabbi, had once written a letter extolling a book which promoted the “positive nature of some adult male/boy child sexual relationships”, that person would not be the subject of a fawning piece in any newspaper.

Over that period I’ve been subjected to many months of home detention, made to wear a face nappee in public (which thankfully I largely resisted, even if it meant almost coming to blows with strangers in the street), subjected to obscene fascist coercion to take an untested utterly useless and ultimately extremely dangerous chemical cocktail, which resulted in me being treated like a diseased leper and denounced as a selfish murderer (and no, that is not hyperbowl). I’ve lost friends and will never willingly communicate with anyone I have the misfortune to be related to ever again.

How I managed to emerge with some semblance of sanity after being subjected to all that anti-scientific fact and evidence free hitlerist horseshit is almost verging on the miraculous.

Rose got off lightly. I only ever chipped about her willingness to don a face nappee when ordered to do so by that obscene deformed grotesque jug eared imbecile in Disasterstan.

Apologies for the self indulgence peoples.

Re Trump – what he has put with these last few years would have broken 99.9% of us.

I can’t imagine the frustration and rage he must feel given he was cheated out of the Presidency whilst nearly everyone in authority (including the judiciary and the MSM) have gone missing, ignored or ridiculed the absurdity of what happened in Nov’2020.

So I cut him some slack given his recent outbursts but he has to realise his time is done and he need to pass the baton on. Now given what’s happened to him plus his enormous go this would be extremely difficult.

He has to move to become the kingmaker not the king.

By Rose do you mean me Rabz?
If so how incredibly wrong you are.
I very very unwillingly wore a face mask only when I absolutely had to. I actually had a sticker on mine saying ‘Not Happy Dan’ I stopped wearing the sticker because it made my children nervous. But no I didn’t and don’t begrudge those who chose to wear them voluntarily, or in the scheme of things see masks as a big deal, being forced to wear one didn’t bother me half so much as the curfew, the limits on going outside, to not being allowed take my grandson to playgrounds (we did that on the sly too) , to not being able to attend mass, to be not tobe able to see family without sneaking through side fences, to not being free to comfort loved ones in hospital no matter how much we or they begged etc.
As I mentioned here many times in 2020/21 my family and I including my then 85 year old mother broke the covid ‘laws’ in a daily basis throughout 2020 and 2021.
I will always remember sitting with my daughter (20km outside my 5km limit) and new grandson at the beach maskless pretending to drink coffee fron empty cups while a group of eight police and military walked past on covid patrol.
It was extraordinarily stressful.
So no I did not ‘get off lightly’.

Useful article from the Brisbane Times today :
Why you won’t get another COVID shot this year, despite rising cases

One of the nation’s top advisers on vaccination says it is unlikely young people under 30 will be approved for fourth doses, as Australia turns its attention to antiviral access to tackle yet another Omicron wave. Former ATAGI co-chair and current member Professor Allen Cheng said the increased risk of myocarditis and the lack of notable benefit from additional boosters meant it was likely the recommended vaccine schedule for younger people would remain as is. Some are approaching a year since their booster shot.

“A 30-year-old who gets COVID is probably not going to get into any trouble with it as opposed to a 60 or 70-year-old,” the Monash University academic said. “If it has been a long time since [an older person] got their last dose then we start to worry. A 30-year-old with … three doses will be optimally protected.” Indicators including reported case numbers, the proportion of positive PCR tests and hospital numbers for COVID-19 all suggest another virus wave.

State chief health officers have encouraged people to check they are up-to-date with their vaccinations, wear masks in crowded areas and stay home when sick to reduce the spread. Some overseas jurisdictions have expanded their vaccine rollout, extending third and fourth doses to younger age groups, as well as administering fifth doses. In the US, the FDA has authorised both the Moderna and Pfizer bivalent boosters for individuals aged six and older, while the UK and Europe approved them for individuals aged 12 and up. Last week Canada approved the Pfizer booster for ages 12 and older and the Moderna booster for adults 18 and up. Singapore also approved the Moderna booster for 18 and above. Both are recommending people get their boosters every six months.
The Moderna bivalent shot is available as a booster in Australia but is not recommended above other shots.

However, Cheng said overseas approvals were “a pretty mixed bag”, noting Denmark has not yet given children a second dose. “We’re all looking at the same data and landing in slightly different places,” he said. “Vaccinations are beneficial and protective even for younger people but the more doses you get the less benefit you derive from them and then we start to worry about causing side effects.”

Speaking at a Senate estimates hearing last week, Dr Lucas de Toca, head of the federal Department of Health’s primary care response to COVID-19, said ATAGI was “continuously reviewing the evidence and emerging trends” of vaccine approval, but its advice was to focus on increasing coverage among groups eligible for third and fourth doses. “Based on the evidence we have, an older person who has remained up to date with their vaccinations still has good protection against severe disease, hospitalisation and death,” he said.

While uptake of fourth doses is close to 80 per cent among people aged 75 and older, department data shows it has been significantly lower in younger age groups: just 38 per cent of people aged 50 to 64 have received their fourth vaccine. Of people aged 30 to 49, who are permitted to receive the fourth shot although it is not “recommended” due to its unclear relative benefit, just 16 per cent have had four doses.

More than half (52 per cent) of young people aged 16 to 29 are yet to receive their recommended three doses. Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly told the hearing he was “very happy” with vaccine coverage, noting there was also strong hybrid immunity in the community, from previous infection and vaccination. He said the best way for vulnerable people to protect themselves against COVID-19 was to ensure they had a plan to receive antivirals quickly if they test positive. Professor Tony Cunningham, the co-director of Westmead Institute’s centre for virus research, said the preliminary evidence overseas was emerging Omicron strains were more evasive of antibody immunity than the BA.5 sub-variant, which was dominant during winter. “Obviously we have to encourage that group of people who are eligible but have not had a booster to do so,” he said, adding he personally believed Australia should prioritise the use of the Omicron bivalent vaccine, although ATAGI had not expressed this.
“But we also need to remember there is that hybrid immunity of people. The majority of people in Australia have had COVID in one of the three Omicron waves: one might argue that is the equivalent of having the bivalent vaccines.”

Associate Professor James Wood, an ATAGI member and mathematician at UNSW’s School of Population Health, agreed hybrid immunity would likely curb the severity of the new wave.
However, with recent serology surveys showing less than half of people aged over 65 have antibodies evidencing a prior infection, he said it was particularly important that older and vulnerable people were up-to-date with their vaccinations.

Again on this. This is likely a strategy by JH to corner the big projects as the big projects are .gov funded and they will weight their selection partially on gender quotas. So JH will offer top dollar to get the small number of women who what to work in the industry leaving fewer for other companies. Same in the large engineering firms. It’s got to the point now (for engineering firms) where some will pay a staff member $6k if they recommend a woman join their company and they do. They will only pay $3k if its man. Discrimination against men is increasing.

JC, I know you are not into tech so you don’t get this, but Musk has already killed Twitter. It is dead. The only chance for the company is if he sells it soon for about 20 cents in the dollar. Otherwise everyone loses their shirt.

Stop pretending you’re a tech expert, Fatboy. You were telling us 4G was it when we were all saying the NBN was an albatross. 4G was it and there would be nothing else on the horizon. 5G put paid to that stupid prediction.

Every enterprise past PayPal Musk has been involved with has been close to the brink. Here’s a piece in this weekend’s Barron’s talking about this very thing.

All the Times Elon Musk Warned His Companies Could Go Bankrupt

Elon Musk talks about bankruptcy more than you might think.

.

For a business magnate of Elon Musk’s standing and success, it might seem odd that he uses the word bankruptcy so frequently.

Musk on Thursday said he sold billions in Tesla TSLA +2.75% (ticker: TSLA) stock over the past few days to help stave off bankruptcy at Twitter, according to a report from the New York Times. Musk, Tesla , and Twitter didn’t respond to a request for comment about the report.

Twitter has been reeling since Musk took over, laid off staff, and introduced an $8 monthly fee for a “verified” blue check mark. Advertisers have paused spending on the platform, causing Musk to lament mounting revenue losses on Nov. 4.

About a week later came the report of Musk using the “B” word in a meeting with Twitter staff.

It isn’t the first time. Musk uses the word quite frequently. He has tweeted it several times in connection with one of his other companies—Tesla.

He pointed out in a 2018 tweet that Ford Motor F +2.26% (F) and Tesla are the only two large auto makers in U.S. history to avoid bankruptcy. Though that is an accomplishment, not a warning.

In 2020, Musk tweeted that Tesla was “3 days away” from bankruptcy in 2008.

The word isn’t restricted to his tweets. “I would have ended up owing money if Tesla went bankrupt [in 2008],” Musk told 60 Minutes Australia in 2015. He has said Tesla would “most likely fail” in other 60 Minutes interviews that recount the 2008 situation.

He also mentioned bankruptcy several times in a June interview with the Tesla Owners of Silicon Valley Club. That instance wasn’t talking about the 2008 cash crunch. “The super hard part for a car company is how to get revenue above costs so you don’t go bankrupt,” he told the club. Adding: “A car company is desperately trying to go bankrupt at any given time.”

Musk has told investors about bankruptcy directly, too. “We need to not go bankrupt, obviously, that’s important, because that will fail in our mission,” said Musk on the company’s second quarter 2020 earnings conference call. Tesla’s mission, according to Musk, is to put the world on a path toward sustainable energy.

Tesla and Twitter aren’t the only two companies to get Musk’s bankruptcy treatment. He said SpaceX, his rocket company, “narrowly escaped” bankruptcy in 2008, along with Tesla.

Musk has also pointed out how important access to capital is for companies that haven’t started generating free cash flow yet, like SpaceX.

“If a severe global recession were to dry up capital availability/liquidity while SpaceX was losing billions on Starlink & Starship, then bankruptcy, while still unlikely, is not impossible,” tweeted Musk in November 2021, adding a quote from former Intel INTC +2.25% (INTC) CEO Andy Grove: “Only the paranoid survive.”

Starlink is SpaceX’s space-based high-speed internet offering. Starship is a large rocket in development by the company. Both the upper and lower stages of the Starship launch system are fully reusable. Currently SpaceX only reuses the lower half of rockets.

That isn’t the only reference to bankruptcy Musk has made in connection with Starlink. “When asked what the goal of Starlink was a at space conference, I said not to go bankrupt,” tweeted Musk in October.

Other SpaceX executives have mentioned survival without using the “B” word. President Gwynne Shotwell recounted in a 2022 interview at Stanford University how close the company was to failure in 2008. Back then, SpaceX was still trying to reach orbit and then land its Falcon rocket upright so it could be reused. Three orbital test flights had failed.

She said Musk thought the company only had enough cash for four Falcon test flights. The fourth was successful. “Elon is a little more dramatic about that launch than I am,” said Shotwell at the time. “I figure we could get five” before running out of money.

If there is a lesson for investors in all of this, it is to remember that cash flow is very, very important for every business. And access to cash. They matter for small and large businesses alike.

Another lesson might be—don’t be surprised to hear about bankruptcy from Musk.

Tesla stock is down roughly 15% since Musk took over Twitter. The S&P 500 SPX +0.92% and Nasdaq Composite COMP +1.88% are up about 4% and 3%, respectively, over the same period.

Tesla stock started in the red on Friday, after the New York Times report. Shares are now up about 0.7%. The Nasdaq has added 1%.

Everyone has a different belief threshold. Or maybe in this case that should be doubt threshold.

For instance, a couple of days ago I linked a Spectator article that stated that a scientist had seen little machines in a magnified and accelerated vaxx sample. They were assembling and disassembling objects.

This was in the Spectator.

Let’s just say I found that claim doubtful. Others may believe it.

The Carrera is one of my great accidental treasures. That is, it was bought it at a bargain basement price and that model can no longer be bought new (just like the Strat 🙂 ).

Goils notice it as well. Watches are jewellery and I’ve always hated jewellery, which is why I didn’t wear a watch for many, many moons.

However, in the last few decades, belt buckles, cuff links and watches have been conveniently exempted from that exclusion.

This is presumably known otherwise as “pragmatism”.

Things are coming to a head in Kherson thankfully, so this little period where tankies can pretend that they might not lose will come to an end soon.
Tell me, monty, what do you think is happening in Kherson right now? Everything that I’m seeing indicates that UKR have made no headway since RUS gave a little ground and solidified its front three weeks ago. Since then, UKR have been unable to penetrate anywhere on that front and suffered considerable losses

..
And:

We are probably a 2-4 weeks away from a major battle south of Izyum. Russia is redeploying its 1st Guard Tank Army into the area. They are going to create a cauldron enveloping a third to half of the Ukrainian Army and once that is finished, they are likely to seek out the UKR in the field until it surrenders or is destroyed. I’m also convinced that the longer this goes the less RUS will return to UKR. Donbass is done, same Crimea. UKR will have nothing on the Sea of Azov. I’m inclined to think that Odesa is likely done too which will mean that the Black Sea is shut off from them as well. Morale in the Territorial Defence Units is also going to dive if RUS decisively wins the battle south of Izyum

I think a better term is self assembling structures. This isn’t a new tech or idea either, you can find plenty of examples of people experimenting with these types of compounds and materials.

Why would these sorts of materials be in a COVID 19 vaccine? Well, Pfizer are completely immoral, already having got caught running experimental medications in the third world and killing and maiming plenty as they went. Now if you were Pfizer, with you long history of immorality and incompetence, and Government exempted you from liability for your new COVID vaccine, what would you do?

Why, I’d run a mass trial on some of these new, but not yet useful compounds! I’m sure the proto Mengeles in Pfizer saw this as a once in a lifetime opportunity which was not to be missed!

Remember the Martian canals?

Absolutely. I think this also applies to Russia/Ukraine analysis on Twitter. In particular, if you look at Gray Connolly’s feed, he always maintained an air of “neutral” or “objective” analysis, but then you read down the main threads and notice he had an update every single time Russia took a village, or a corner of a hamlet, in Donbass, but only begrudgingly posted (if at all) after the large scale failures of Putin’s Kyiv, Kharkiv and Kherson campaigns. This is a pretty obvious tell for his real position. I’m sure there are some equivalent cases on here.
