We in the west are in serious trouble; demographics, Cloward Piven shifts, destruction of the family, high taxes, unaffordable property, unsustainable public debt.

You are a damned fool if you think Putin is going to save the west. He is literally ruining his own country and destroying another for his own vain ambitions. Nothing more or noble.

He started the war, he started undermining Ukrainian sovereignty in 2008 and he can stop right now.

A much praised journalist like Hedley Thomas or Kate McClymont would be thrown off a bridge in Russia.

The amount of ridiculous propaganda posted here is absurd. No doubt the Ukraine and NATO establishment have their own embedded sources and we should question our officials; why take Putin’s word at face value?

It’s utterly bizarre.

Did any of that help Vietnam?

It stopped communist (Russian backed) expansion.

Democratic countries won strategically at the conclusion of the war and briefly the US beat the North Vietnamese, which is why they signed the accords.

compared to Zelensky, Thieu was an honest operator.

How can you possibly quantify this at all?

It is the simple logistics of operating weapons systems, that are unfamiliar and unsuitable to the theatre, (Marders, Bradleys, 105mm howitzers), that will spell the end for the puppet Zelensky’s regime.

I posted this yesterday. Yes, Serge is pro-Russian. But his analysis is very matter of fact. Nothing like the breathless OTT rubbish coming from the MSM and Euro sources. RTWT .

https://bigserge.substack.com/p/russo-ukrainian-war-the-world-blood

British officials, in particular, have been highly vocal in recent weeks insisting that Bakhmut has little to no operational value.

The truth is the literal opposite of this story: Bakhmut is an operationally critical keystone position in the Ukrainian defense, and Russia has transformed it into a death pit which compels the Ukrainians to sacrifice exorbitant numbers of men in order to hold the position as long as possible. In fact, the insistence that Bakhmut is not operationally significant is mildly insulting to the audience, both because a quick glance at a map clearly shows it at the heart of the regional road network, and because Ukraine has thrown a huge number of units into the front there.

Of course things go wrong, there are setbacks and Russians are famous for fkg up. But, I don’t doubt Ukraine’s ability to do the same and worse. But what I really cannot trust is any western related propaganda. So, it’s what’s happening on the ground that matters from reliable sources.

Looks like the big offensive may have begun;

eugyppius: a plague chronicle

We are witnessing an unprecedented, comprehensive failure of policy, medicine and science. The world will never be the same.

Germany, “standing atop a billion-dollar mountain of masks” purchased by the panicked Merkel government in 2020, begins to “thermally reprocess” (i.e., incinerate) the rapidly expiring surplus
States, meanwhile, balking at storage costs, beg the federal government to take back the unwanted oversupply.

From Welt:

Authorities have come up with a term that sounds at least halfway sane. They’re calling it “thermal reprocessing.”

Four federal states now claim to have thermally reprocessed – or, in plain language, to have incinerated – a total of 17.25 million expired Corona masks.

Baden-Württemberg has destroyed 6.1 million masks, Saxony 5.5 million, North Rhine-Westphalia 5 million, and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 656,000 …

The Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) in Berlin has also “thermally recycled” masks in recent months. The number so far is “less than one million units,” a spokesperson said … The destroyed masks were purchased during the peak of the pandemic, and have exceeded their expiration date …

The federal and state governments are currently standing atop a billion-dollar mountain of masks. According to information provided by the Ministry of Health in September, there are a total of 3.7 billion masks in the federal inventory … The federal states have have an additional 180 million Corona masks at their disposal …

The states want to burn even more masks, but for the moment they’re not allowed, because much of the surplus in their possession is technically federal property. Thus they’ve begun begging the government to take the masks back:

Everything about Corona is such a multifaceted ridiculous farce

J.K. Rowling shows off some Scottish politicians in front of banners reading, ‘Decapitate TERFs’

If you’re a regular Twitchy reader, you probably know by now that TERF stands for “trans-exclusionary radical feminist,” and it’s meant to be a derogatory term for a feminist who doesn’t include trans women in her struggle.

J.K. Rowling was branded a TERF after standing with a woman who was fired for her tweets alleging that you can’t change your sex, and she’s since gone on to do some TERF-like things, like opening a female-only sexual violence center for women trying to get away from biological males for a bit.

We’re not sure who these politicians are, but Rowling shows photos of them in a crowd holding signs reading “Decapitate TERFS” and “I Eat TERFs and Tories.”

JC,

My PRIMARY consideration regarding this war is that it ends quickly without some form of nuclear exchange. This is paramount for me.

But to your question. I don’t believe Russia wants control of Ukraine. They want to retain Crimea, the southern corridor to it and the Donbas region. That’s the settlement I think they want. Ukraine has been a corrupt shithole for many decades. Like some Latam corrupt semi failed state. https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/lseih/2020/07/01/there-is-no-ukraine-fact-checking-the-kremlins-version-of-ukrainian-history/

“Ukraine is not even a state”

Surkov is not the first Russian official to make such a claim. The notion that Ukraine is not a country in its own right, but a historical part of Russia, appears to be deeply ingrained in the minds of many in the Russian leadership. Already long before the Ukraine crisis, at an April 2008 NATO summit in Bucharest, Vladimir Putin reportedly claimed that “Ukraine is not even a state! What is Ukraine? A part of its territory is [in] Eastern Europe, but a[nother] part, a considerable one, was a gift from us!” In his March 18, 2014 speech marking the annexation of Crimea, Putin declared that Russians and Ukrainians “are one people. Kiev is the mother of Russian cities. Ancient Rus’ is our common source and we cannot live without each other.” Since then, Putin has repeated similar claims on many occasions. As recently as February 2020, he once again stated in an interview that Ukrainians and Russians “are one and the same people”, and he insinuated that Ukrainian national identity had emerged as a product of foreign interference. Similarly, Russia’s then-Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev told a perplexed apparatchik in April 2016 that there has been “no state” in Ukraine, neither before nor after the 2014 crisis.

Russia had absolutely no problem getting to Crimea after it was annexed.

Now, they do. Funny how they signed treaties with a non-existent state!

I think the Bakhmut offensive is due to two things: first that Putin is putting pressure on the RGS for results and second that that particular zone is the best one for logistical support. The only tactic which has worked for the Russians is the WW1 massed-artillery one. So they’ve concentrated an enormous number of artillery tubes in that area and are pounding the defenders on a narrow frontage. The logistical issue is that artillery ammunition is heavy, and keeping supply up to the guns is tough work – especially as Russian doctrine doesn’t use palletization. The shells have to literally be carried around by guys, something that Trent Telenko covered early on.

A problem is that the Ukrainians have been good at finding and destroying stockpiles within range of their artillery. That has forced the Russians to deliver ammunition in a just-in-time manner, so they can’t build a big stockpile then draw from it in an offensive. Which is why they need good logistics, such as the road and rail capacity from Donetsk. That isn’t something they could do elsewhere.

Then there’s the availability of ammunition. There’ve been increasing indications that at least Wagner is getting large amounts of artillery ammunition from the North Koreans. Which is fine, but it strongly suggests that the Russian indigenous production capability can’t keep up. So if the supply from Pyongyang dries up the offensive may well peter out. The other thing about the ammunition is that a lot of it, possibly nearly all of it, seems to be contact fused. When a contact fused shell lands it penetrates the dirt then explodes upwards. Thus you see the moonscape-like overhead photos of those areas, because of the contact fused shells. Proximity fused shells don’t produce those sorts of shell-holes. And you need proximity fuses to suppress infantry – to keep them in their strong points and not in the trenches, where they can shoot at assaulting Russian infantry and armour.

On the other hand Ukraine has an incentive to defend a dump like Bakhmut because the force multiplication of serious fortifications can be as much as 10:1. Which bleeds the Russians…although the cost to the Ukrainians is high also.

The Ukrainians are however using this type of defensive tactic: inviting Russia to assault prepared defensive lines, then once the Russians commit too much to the offensive they’ve been hitting soft spots far from the conflagration zone. They’ve done that with success four times: north of Kiev, west of Chernigov, east and south of Kharkov and in the Kherson zone. The Kherson one was a little different in that the Russians were defending the area but got squeezed in supply over the river, which meant they had to pull back or risk a mass surrender of out-of-supply units.

Overall the tactical stuff is fascinating, but at a terrible cost of blood not seen since the Somme. Like the Somme there seems to be a Russian view that if only they can just break through the Ukrainian line they will break out with mobile units and win. The French and the Germans kept trying that on the Western Front in 1916, and it never happened – until there was a technological and doctrinal step change, which Monash employed decisively. Right now that sort of step change doesn’t seem likely, so this bloody debacle seems like it’ll go on and on until both sides are totally exhausted.

Err…what? How did it stop communist expansion? The end of the Vietnam war and the fall of Saigon actually added impetus to the Soviet Union’s desire to expand communism and for the remainder of the 1970s, they didn’t do too badly. There was communist expansion in Asia, Central and South America and Africa, particularly Angola. Whilst they weren’t always successful, many innocents died. The Soviets helped destabilise the Shah in Iran. Oh and I have a distinct recollection of the Soviet Union invading Afghanistan in 1979 to help prop up the communist regime there, a communist regime that had seized power in a bloody coup in 1978.

In FMD news:

Indigenous cricket star Ashleigh Gardner has called out the decision to schedule an Australian women’s international on January 26.

Australia’s women’s cricket team is playing Pakistan in a three-match T20 International series, starting on Tuesday

The second match in Hobart has been scheduled to take place on Thursday January 26, a decision that “doesn’t sit well” with Gardner, the reigning Belinda Clark medallist.

“As a proud Muruwari woman and reflecting on what Jan 26 means to me and my people it is a day of hurt and a day of mourning,” she wrote on Twitter.

“My culture is something I hold close to my heart and something I’m always so proud to speak about whenever asked.

“I also am fortunate enough to play cricket for a living which is something I dreamt of as a kid.

“Unfortunately this year the Australian women’s cricket team has been scheduled to play a game on the 26th of Jan which certainly doesn’t sit well with me as an individual but also all the people I’m representing.”

Gardner said she will take the field and play on January 26, which the all-rounder described as a “day of mourning” that marked the “beginning of genocide, massacres and dispossession”.

“As a national team we have a platform to raise awareness about certain issues and I’m using this platform to hopefully help educate others on a journey to learn about the longest living culture in the world,” Gardner said.

“For those who don’t have a good understanding of what that day means it was the beginning of genocide, massacres and dispossession.

“When I take the field for this game I will certainly be reflecting and thinking about all of my ancestors and peoples lives who changed from this day.”

Cricket Australia has not scheduled any Big Bash League games on January 26 this year and won’t refer to the day as Australia Day in any marketing or publicity of the women’s T20 game in Hobart on Thursday.

Australia wrapped up a 3-0 clean sweep of the ODI series against Pakistan on Saturday, as Beth Mooney scored her third ODI century with a career-best 133.

Darling, if you don’t want to play, piss off and give someone else a go who would relish the opportunity to represent her country, the country you hate.
And the national side is not a platform to do anything except play.

Perhaps but you could also apply the “crimping” to the Americans. After the US exited Vietnam, they suffered a malaise which hindered American foreign policy until Reagan. This applied particularly in Iran when riots and revolution erupted in 1978. The USA buckled under Carter and refused to back the Shah. That was a huge mistake.

How Ukraine is “trolling” the West for advanced main battle tanks

It is no secret that the Ukrainians want more tanks from the West to push the Russian invaders out of their country. But the West has been reluctant to send any advanced main battle tanks to Kyiv. So, the Ukrainian military is resulting in some psychological operations to influence Western audiences and put pressure on their governments to send tanks.

This is how Ukraine is “trolling” Germany, France, and the U.S. to get more tanks.

‘Trolling’ straight out of the 1980s

In a series of videos straight out of a 1980s B-movie, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has been trolling the West to get more main battle tanks.

Kyiv has released three videos, each about one NATO main battle tank that could help its fight against Russia.

The first video released on January 12 jokingly tried to define the term tank so as to make it easier for Western countries to decide if they can send some to Ukraine. The video was aimed at the U.S. and it not-so-subtly requested the M1 Abrams tank, one of the most capable main battle tanks in the world.

“Western countries are so worried about sending tanks to Ukraine, they’re arguing about what is and isn’t a ‘tank.’ We offer our humble suggestion,” the Ukrainians tweeted.

The second video went out on January 18 and was aimed at France, asking for the Leclerc main battle tank.

Although France hasn’t said anything about sending Leclerc tanks to Ukraine, French President Emmanuel Macron did announce that his country would be sending a number of AMX-10RC tank destroyers.

“Western nations wax philosophical about what is and is not a ‘tank.’ And so do we, bien sûr,” the Ukrainians tweeted.

Finally, the third video was released a day later, on January 19, and undoubtedly targeted Ukraine’s largest “opponent” when it comes to security assistance: Germany.

Calling the tank “Leopard 2A4 Luxury Executive Sedan,” Ukraine made the case why Germany should either send or let other willing countries provide the tank to Ukraine. NATO members sit on a fleet of around 2,000 Leopard 2s. Poland has announced a package of 14 Leopard 2s to Ukraine, and Finland is keen too. But both countries, or indeed any other, can’t do anything until Germany gives them re-export permission. Berlin, on its end, will only do so only if the U.S. provides M1 Abrams to Kyiv.

“We appreciate there’s still a bit of angst about sending tanks to Ukraine. We’re here to help,” the Ukrainians tweeted.

The video ends with a call to action in German and English: “Release the Leopards.”

This applied particularly in Iran when riots and revolution erupted in 1978. The USA buckled under Carter and refused to back the Shah. That was a huge mistake.

That was a massive screw up, and from what I’ve read it wouldn’t have taken much for a very different outcome. Vale the country that used to be capable and trusted to operate F-14’s.

People also seem to forget Soviet communist agitation and expansion in Southern Africa in the mid to late 1970s which is why the US and the UK were loathe to isolate South Africa at the time. When Portugal pulled out of Angola in 1975 (like they did in East Timor), civil war erupted because a power struggle ensued between between the communist People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), funded and armed by the Soviet Union and Cuba and the anti-communist National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), funded by the USA and South Africa.

It was a dreadful civil war which went on for decades

Because… the WEF has managed to get itself appointed as an “official advisor” to the UN.

The UN has its Agendas 21 and 30, which just happen to reflect the destructive shit that the WEF is pushing. Climate change, covid/pandemics/”vaccinations”, removal of animal protein from our diets, restriction of movement, destruction of agriculture and fisheries, outlawing natural remedies and useful vitamin supplements, control of information and free speech… the lot.

That’s why we need to care what the WEF says. Don’t think they don’t mean every word of what they intend to enforce on the rest of us; they absolutely do mean to do it – if we let them.

Without considering past grievances and determining who instigated the conflict, if Russia is aligning closely with China, would it be preferable for Russia to gain control of Ukraine , or for Ukraine to maintain its independence and align itself as a Western ally?

I would not like Russia to control Ukraine including cities like Odessa. However unless NATO sends in its own troops (i.e. US armed forces) then that is the probable future for Ukraine. I don’t think there is the political will in Washington or in European capitals to puts boots on the ground.

I agree Russia is in debt to the China to a large degree. How it will show this gratitude is problematic.

The best solution for Ukraine now is for some land sharing agreement. The longer the conflict goes on the less likely that a functioning Ukraine will emerge. Who would want to live in the Ukraine?

Quite so, and perhaps we should ask an ordinary Sri Lankan what they think of the UN and WEF. I suspect many Sri Lankans would have some advice to us about the UN and the WEF. After all, they were forced into adopting “green” agriculture by a government intent on implementing green UN and WEF policies. And what ensued? Utter disaster, crop failures, hunger, riots, government collapse. I suspect that the average Sri Lankan, on hearing someone say “I still can’t understand why anyone cares what the WEF says”, would politely respond by saying “I think you had better wake up and care what the WEF is doing, they are exerting a very sinister and unhealthy influence over governments and we here in Sri Lanka experienced firsthand the sinister consequences of WEF ideology and policies – which were crop failures, starvation, riots and societal collapse“….oh and I suspect many European farmers have now woken up and care about the WEF is doing, just ask Dutch farmers.

That’s why we need to care what the WEF says. Don’t think they don’t mean every word of what they intend to enforce on the rest of us; they absolutely do mean to do it – if we let them.”

Kolomoisky’s political star is also fading fast. Earlier in his presidency, Zelensky was having to prove that he wasn’t simply a puppet controlled by the powerful Dnepropetrovsk oligarch. Now, Kolomoisky has reportedly been stripped of his Ukrainian citizenship, and is entirely dependent on the president’s goodwill: he is sanctioned by the United States and under investigation in both Israel, where he also holds citizenship, and Russia, leaving him with few options.

Technically, Kolomoisky may have lost his citizenship for having a second nationality, which is forbidden by Ukrainian law. In practice, however, that law is hardly ever enforced. It’s more likely that the Ukrainian leadership simply decided to use the opportunity to strip Kolomoisky of his influence and send a warning to other Ukrainian oligarchs in doing so.

Regarding the tall tale from last evening of a tradie “working for food”.
Let’s assume that there were, in fact, restrictions on building work at the time of this fabled event.
So, we are to believe that, not only did the said tradie grossly undervalue his work by accepting a scabby pub meal in return for his labour, but he took the risk of a yuuuge fine for a “don’t look at the use-by” Chicken Parma and chips?
Sure.
Most tradies I know are extremely canny when it comes to making a quid. For example, very few builders will go fixed price without disclaimers on a reno, because they don’t know what they will find when they un-zip the place and have a look at it’s innards.
The point is, if by doing the work, he was at risk of a monster fine (whether he was paid in gold or peanut shells or chicken parmas) why would any rational person do it?
Most I know would work for cash, thinking that, if they get caught after 4-5 days work they will still be in front.
So, let’s go to the fact check:-
False.

$100 billion for Ukraine – and 10% for the ‘big guy’?

Let’s focus down on President Zelensky. According to a report in the Guardian it has been said that Zelensky is under the influence of the Ukrainian billionaire Igor Kolomoisky whose TV channel aired Zelensky’s television sitcom, “Servant of the People,” where a school teacher upset about his country’s corruption accidentally runs for president and wins. It is alleged that during Zelensky’s real presidential campaign, Kolomoisky transferred $41 million to offshore firms belonging to Zelensky and his circle, including Film Heritage. It should be noted that in March of 2021 Kolomoisky was banned from entering the U.S. due to his “significant corruption.” It is also stated that besides financial support given to Zelensky during the 2019 election, Kolomoisky provided Zelensky with a car, his personal lawyer to be campaign adviser and proceeded to promote the candidacy on several media outlets he owned.

A Forbes magazine article reported that Kolomoisky had interest in obtaining a steel plant so he sent “hundreds of hired rowdies armed with baseball bats, iron bars, gas and rubber-bullet pistols and chainsaws [to] forcibly [take] over” the plant. In addition it was said that Kolomoisky put a shark in a tank in his office and “was not averse to shoving the head of a visitor in it as a reminder never to cross him.” It is also fascinating to note that according to the New York Post, part of Kolomoisky’s financial empire is Burisma Holdings, which is the Ukrainian energy company that employed Hunter Biden as a board member for $50,000 per month.

“Forbes magazine currently places Zelensky’s net worth at between $20 and $30 million,” which is far more than he could have earned as a simple TV performer and comedian. It is interesting to note that Zelensky allegedly owns lavish properties in central London, Italy and Miami Beach to which he could retire if forced to flee Ukraine.

I am sure that it is just coincidental, but once Zelensky was elected as president “he removed Kolomoisky’s opponents, the Prosecutor General, the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, and his own prime minister, who tried to regulate Kolomoisky’s control of a state-owned electricity company.”

https://grrrgraphics.com/zelensky-you-are-no-churchill/

Churchill would despise Zelensky for what he is: A little puppet con man who is ripping off US taxpayers for the benefit of the globalist rulers as well as for himself and his cronies running Ukraine.

The problem there is Ukraine isn’t a democracy—especially not now. NATO and the CIA made sure of that when they removed Ukraine’s lawfully-elected president, Viktor Yanukovych, in 2014. Turns out Yanukovych wanted closer ties with Ukraine’s traditional ally, Russia. Nope, the globalists couldn’t have that, so they had Zelensky, a comedian who once played the piano with his penis, installed to run their money-laundering whorehouse, complete with the installation of bioweapons labs. Corruption ran rampant and Hunter Biden got his paychecks from Burisma, and Joe the ‘big guy’ got his 10 percent.

Zelensky soon began his campaign of genocide by bombing Russians in the Donbas region to the east. Yes, he WANTED a war with Russia. Or I should say his globalist masters wanted the war. Over 100 billion unaccountable dollars has since flowed into Ukraine and many are getting fabulous amounts of money in kickbacks. Our Military Industrial Complex certainly is happy—they have a new war with which to enrich themselves.

Pandora Papers Reveal Offshore Holdings of Ukrainian President and his Inner Circle

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rode to power on pledges to clean up the Eastern European country, but the Pandora Papers reveal he and his close circle were the beneficiaries of a network of offshore companies, including some that owned expensive London property.

The revelations come from documents in the Pandora Papers, millions of files from 14 offshore service providers leaked to the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and shared with partners around the world including OCCRP.

The documents show that Zelensky and his partners in a television production company, Kvartal 95, set up a network of offshore firms dating back to at least 2012, the year the company began making regular content for TV stations owned by Ihor Kolomoisky, an oligarch dogged by allegations of multi-billion-dollar fraud. The offshores were also used by Zelensky associates to purchase and own three prime properties in the center of London.

The documents also show that just before he was elected, he gifted his stake in a key offshore company, the British Virgin Islands-registered Maltex Multicapital Corp., to his business partner — soon to be his top presidential aide. And in spite of giving up his shares, the documents show that an arrangement was soon made that would allow the offshore to keep paying dividends to a company that now belongs to his wife.

They quite OPENLY declare their benefactors. This is quite ethical.

Can you disprove the data they discuss? No.

Sure they put their own spin on it, but it is very clear:

Putin blew up his own country in a botched attempt to restart the Russian Empire in the Rus’ Princes homeland, which is now ruined even more so than Russia.

Why anyone wants to defend this, apart from “at least Putin doesn’t like the transgender ideology” is beyond me.

Putin can’t save us and he hates the west. It’s up to use to rebuild, if at all.

No longer tacitly but here goes – For Putin to continue to beat Biden until Trump/Republican candidate takes over and then said personage will peacefully stop the war by cutting loose the Zelensky puppet.

just moved on AAP wire:

Federal opposition Leader Peter Dutton says any proposed Indigenous Voice to parliament needs to address racial inequalities and improve reconciliation.

But Mr Dutton stopped short of officially endorsing the need for a Voice, saying there needs to be tangible action first.

“It’s not so much in my mind whether or not there’s a Voice, it’s whether there’s action from the government,” he told Sky News.

“I want an outcome that’s going to bring an end to the violence, the sexual assaults on children taking place in Alice Springs at the moment.

“Their voice is not being heard now.”

The opposition leader said the Prime Minister has the numbers in the lower house and in the Senate with the support of the Greens but did not want to pass any legislation on the issue.

“He could introduce his model of the Voice and demonstrate how it could work to help those children to bring an end to that violence,” he said.

“I just want to know when the action is going to start.

“I want a model that is going to help those kids enjoy the life that I would expect my kids to enjoy in a capital city.”

Treasurer Jim Chalmers hit back, saying Mr Dutton was looking for division, not the detail.

He said the voice would give First Nations communities the ability to have a say on issues that affect their lives.

“The voice is a massive opportunity for this country to move forward together in a spirit of unity and respect,” he said.

“There is a lot of detail out there already from the working group and there’ll be more detail provided between now and the referendum.”

Dr Chalmers also took aim at the opposition leader’s ambivalence.

“Peter Dutton has had multiple opportunities now to tell us whether he’s still stuck in the past, or whether he supports the Uluru statement from the heart,” he said.

“He’s a very similar kind of leader to Tony Abbott and Scott Morrison. Three peas in a pod.

“They all practice this kind of divisive and destructive brand of politics.”

Caught the early train to Naples, I’d forgotten the details of the trip from when I last was here, five years ago? Perhaps we caught a vft. This time I recognised Vesuvius but it has a good cover of snow, which I’m sure it didn’t last time. My host told me the metro station I wanted was on line 2 but on checking it was definitely on line 1, so there was a bit of toing and froing around Piazza Garibaldi. The station complex is modern and well organised, much like Termini. I bought my metro ticket in one of the automatic machines in the Galleria, there was a funny fellow who must have known one of the machines was faulty, he swooped in a couple of times to collect his winnings. The metro is a long way underground and the escalators at my destination stop have an amazing mosaic in shades of blue over them, lots of people taking selfies with them as background. Outside though it was raining, then raining harder. My host’s map didn’t say which direction to go in and was too small on the screen to see street names, so I used google, against her advise, and got there easily enough. The streets in the old part of Naples are a narrow cobbled grid overlooked by ancient four or five storey buildings with barely enough rooms for one way cars and motor cyclists who do what they like. It’s very picturesque even in the pouring rain. I’m staying on the third floor of a former palazzo in a very nice studio apartment at right angles to my host’s own apartment, the parqueted entry of which extends into the lobby of my space has subfloor heating, very cosy. The palazzo entrance has not one but two Latin inscribed marble plaques inserted in the wall.

Had lunch at a cheap and cheerful pizzeria , then visited one of those cavernous supermarkets, a tiny entrance then other sections hidden around corners as they borrow space from the building next door.
Rain wouldn’t stop and my shoes and socks were wet along with the rest of me, so I had a quiet afternoon, okay I slept, and then spent the evening reading The Snack Thief by Andrea Camilleri, which is set in an imaginary town in Sicily, where I am going next. Struggling still to adjust to European time. Today will be the day.
There is a church 110 metres from me where hopefully I can go to mass this morning otherwise I will venture further afield. Sadly, the weather doesn’t look like it’s going to improve. I’m going to try for a day trip to Vesuvius as missed that last time, otherwise I will hunt down those enclosed streets someone posted a story about a few months ago.
A persistent drip on my roof tells me it’s still raining.

Welsh – obvious repeated joke from Family Guy.
Balkans – riffing on the “Macedonia is Greek, Serbian, Macedonian…” slogan you’d hear in Australia in the early 1990s. Albania – well, …
Ireland – baiting proddies like Roger and Bons. Or nicely mocking Lizzie (some didn’t, so I stopped too).
(Look. Northern Ireland is doomed, but well, so is Ireland).
The Scots – believe in beheading and eating rich and famous children’s authors.
England – they had a King, called Steve.

Now, obviously it’s a Trojan Horse, but pointing that out before the General Public have worked it out for themselves turns the debate into a Liberal versus Labor squabble where voters take sides based on Party loyalty rather than what’s best for the Country.

Beloved Sydney street personality Danny Lim will make a run to become an MP in parliament’s upper house at March’s state election, revealing he was prompted to throw his hat in the ring after his arrest and subsequent injuries late last year.

Mr Lim, who is a mainstay of the city’s busy streets, was injured at Town Hall’s QVB in November after he was arrested by police officers before suffering head injuries and taken to hospital.

He was wearing a sandwich board reading ‘SMILE CVN’T! WHY CVN’T?’ when security guards then called the police.

Vision from the incident allegedly depicted Lim thrown to the ground by officers, which left him with a bloody head and a stay in hospital.

The 78-year-old said he was motivated to run as an independent for NSW’s Legislative Council after the incident because he “still had work to do”….

Mr Lim said he’d – among others – campaign for “openness, transparency, accountability and morality” in state politics, as well as a raft of progressive policies, including: free dental care for disadvantaged Australians, more affordable housing, a basic living wage, funding for ICAC, and legalise cannabis.

No better that the ‘Banksters’ in the West. FMD

‘Banksters’

Yes of course, and well named as it ryhmes with Gangsters. Like Goldman Sucks and all those other Banking crooks. HSBC who launder so much money that their heads spin in the washing machines.

Go back to 2008/2009 and you you will see what they did. Shareholders lost their money as did many others. Not one Bankster was put in the slammer for being a crook. You live in an Ivory Tower.

The Russians are not going to lose anything.

The Ukrainian Clown and Puppet will just melt away and live life on the hog with his ill gotten loot. He is not a Leader. He is leading Ukraine to destruction.

duncanm – yep,I doubt we’re even close to a representative sample, but I just cannot see how it can get over the mathematical hurdle for a referendum. As others have noted, the Liars have a terrible track record at this stuff.

I do not keep screenshots and don’t know how to search back for more than a day, you have to take my word for it, or not as you please, I wouldn’t have mentioned it if it wasn’t true.
But be it as it may, here we are.

No great drama, we are just pixels on a forum, trust and respect lost here is dust in the wind.

That’s because it was legal, you idiot, and Congress for example passed the stupid TARP Bill on 3 October, 2008.

Excluding or including retirements, the American public voted Congress back in with an incumbency rate over 92%.

JC at 3:14.

Even though the Driller claimed the tradie had money in the bank, he was scrounging for food 8 days later. Such a bullshitter, and like everything else, he’s terrible at it.

Yeah, the transparent bullshit is almost an insult.
Look, the epic drama “Indians shitting through the floor of the Kenworth and dropping the odd turd at the Hay truck-stop” is hard to toss.
But the “tradies working for parma and chips” story is giving it a run for it’s money.
