That’s not what some here are suggesting, though. They’re suggesting that “schools” (i.e., teachers) have the capacity to turn kids into raving queers.

Kindergartners are more susceptible. Treet one as special the rest want the same. In late teens early adulthood they ave a pre existing mental health issue.

I had that on my wall as well, however I had ’emergency,’ not ‘crisis.’
Army Aviation always operates on ‘crisis management.’

This was “civvie street.” The brother in law of the owner of the company was my superior. He would walk into my office, at lunchtime Friday, throw some files on my desk, and tell me to “sort this lot out, will you?” He would then depart, to spend the afternoon with his mistress…..I got to sort out his “little cockups.”

I recall our boy coming home and laughing about a white teacher telling the class that he was a recovering racist and that, as a way of assuaging his guilt, he decided to live among blacks in Harlem. He told us how the other boys were sniggering about it after class.

Here’s something else that hasn’t changed in forty years.
I’ll bet a couple of kids earnestly asked him every day how the struggle was going, and was he gaining traction and acceptance among the black community.
Not because they gave a shit, but because it got them out of maths/English/whatever for another day while he rolled around in his sackcloth and ashes.

    Question to veterans.
Why would you put a digger you thought was your worst bloke on the gun before going out on patrol?

Sergeant Locke is unable to answer that question, for he was killed in action later that same year.
If the whingeing ..er.. testimony, of Person One is to be believed, Corporal Roberts-Smith had made it plain long before hand that were it up to him, Person One would be RTU’d in a heartbeat.

I’m still dirty on your whole early hominids weren’t good feminists thing,

Err? I’m sorry, but me no comprehendo. I’ve always run a mile from uni feminism, not my scene. There’s not a lot of feminism in evolutionary biology, which is my general schtick, although what it means to be female is intrinsically interesting if, like me, you were born to be the distaff side.

And JC, I’m not the sort of person who bears grudges. I simply can’t see the point of it.
Forgiveness has always been a foundational moral strength of Christianity. It makes civilized life possible and was a major ethical advance for humankind.

‘Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us’
I always say it like that, with the arcane grammar, for added tone and seriousness.
But anyone who wants to forgive me of anything can say it in any way they like. 🙂

Aussies on death row granted clemency

Two Australian citizens who faced the death penalty in Vietnam have been granted clemency after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese made representations to his Vietnamese counterpart during his visit.

So Albo can plead on behalf of this prisoner but says nothing about the jailed journalist in China. Could it be because he considers himself equal to his Vietnamese counterparts but a supplicant to the CCP ones?

It’s not up to you to decide the response those deadbeats deserve. As for forgiveness: only God can decide that. It’s not up to us mere mortals.

“I lived in the same house as this young person for 16/18/20 years and nothing of what they have become reflects the values I tried to impart.”

I doubt any parent would think or say that. They are more likely to think their child would have been far worse off without their input. If you are only part of the input, that would be a reasonable view. And no parent is the whole input, because peers, media, a child’s nature and culture in general also has a go, as well as the other parent who is not always on the same page.

That hasn’t been my experience at all, JC. I have received and also given out a lot of forgiveness.

It helps sooth the forgiver as well as the forgivee. And what goes around comes around. Karma.

Sure, but if men are rational animals, they are obliged to care and to learn these things. Of course, deciding not to know would be a privation of the good, and thus evil.

    rational men ?
the Russian reds were rational as were the whites
    and the Maoists
    and the Aztecs
    and the Babylonians
    and the Maoris
    and the Japanese

seems to me that what is ‘good’ is not obviously godly nor even innate

    …depends

thou shalt not murder except when necessary
thou shalt not steal except when necessary
    etc

also seems that learning just the right things at any given time is all it takes to makes you not evil

I doubt any parent would think or say that.

Well, that is precisely what they are saying when a child displays an unwanted attribute and they cast around blaming school/mates/the ex/teachers/whatever.
They had zero input or influence.
    It’s all down to others.
None of their behaviour, actions or words could have had the slightest impact on triggering this unwanted attribute in the child.
As I say, I’ve heard it countless times where kids have got into drugs and/or criminal activity.
    Always someone else’s fault.

“Hmmm. The apple don’t fall far …”.

Often true. Can be due to genetic likenesses, which certainly exist and have a place, or cultural ambits, which one might think of as where the apple tree is growing. It’s also hard to see the source of heat when you’re standing in the kitchen feeling hot.

I’m prepared to bet that at least three quarters of parents of children who turn trans are likely to be halfway down the road of living out the tenets of cultural leftism, with its associated excuse-making tendencies and lack of serious time structuring and with little sense of any higher purpose in their lives. Their kids are not socialised into getting up in the morning and sorting out their own lives. They have dependency issues. Their peers are lefties and they are, parents and children, all subject to influence due to emotional neediness. Call it the soft underbelly of modern life.

That said, these parents don’t deserve what trans ideology serves up. No-one does.

They had zero input or influence.

Perhaps it can feel like that, but it’s never true. It’s a question of whether the parent/s can sort out the good from the bad influences they may have had. Even parental absence is a form of influence. My experience in counselling is that most parents do feel a lot of personal guilt when a child goes off the rails. It’s something I feel in my own life too and I’m very prepared to examine how and where things went wrong. And know from the love I have for my family, that is returned, where things went right.

Well, that’s what I am saying.
Good or bad, a parent certainly has some influence, no matter how minor, over the attributes exhibited by the child.
If they then say, “Oh, well, it is all nature, no nurture”, fine.
But if that is the case, don’t then go blamimg teachers, the ex, the milkman, whoever.

Perhaps optimistically I think the trans thing is now facing a mounting backlash. I knew that would happen in sports and it appears to be spreading.

There are some very worrying trends in the younger generations. It isn’t just the trans issue, there is also anxiety and depression, and doctors are alarmed at the increasing rates of bowel cancer, obesity, diabetes, stroke and cardiovascular diseases in the under 40’s. That trend is now at least a decade old. I must stop reading.

While I’m here … that comment about non-functional dicks in FtM. I had this terrible thought. Some doctor somewhere is probably planning to start harvesting male cadaver genitalia for transplant purposes.

Gee, whats the odds of China (the globes biggest emitter) being owed money from the USA/West??
    https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/jun/05/climate-change-carbon-budget-emissions-payment-usa-uk-germany

Rich industrialised countries responsible for excessive levels of greenhouse gas emissions could be liable to pay $170tn in climate reparations by 2050 to ensure targets to curtail climate breakdown are met, a new study calculates.

The proposed compensation, which amounts to almost $6tn annually, would be paid to historically low-polluting developing countries that must transition away from fossil fuels despite not having yet used their “fair share” of the global carbon budget, according to the analysis published in the journal Nature Sustainability.

“Climate change reflects clear patterns of atmospheric colonisation,” said Jason Hickel, co-author and professor at the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. “Responsibility for excess emissions is largely held by the wealthy classes [within nations] who have very high consumption and who wield disproportionate power over production and national policy. They are the ones who must bear the costs of compensation.”

I think its obvious that universities must be defunded and their staff sold for body parts and rendered down to blood and bone.
    For justice.
    And decolinisation!!
