Daryl Maguire came across as a serious guy in his ICAC testimony.
He said he was $1.5mil in debt and he was looking to wipe that debt in a property deal and marry Gladys.
I’d say he dodged a bullet there.

Don’t get me wrong, I am happy that Gladys resigned, she didn’t meet the standard I expect of public officials. The problem I have is that Andrews has been through several obviously corrupt investigation and hasn’t even had to give evidence in public let alone have his private communications revealed.

If the double standard is allowed to stand for basically a lefty pretending to be a conservative, there is no chance a real conservative will be treated fairly.

Showing the type of leader and person she really is.

At the time of their introduction into the parliament, I wrote to her and received a reply. It seems she “could do nothing about it – it was not in any way under her control”. I responded that she could have the legislation pulled before it was introduced into the Legislative Assembly.

————————————

She supported the legislation:

“It’s important for [abortion] to be a decision for the woman and for the state not to cast judgment on the morality of that decision.”

Cervical cancer trust wants vaginas to be called ‘bonus holes’

Apparently, the UK-based Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust suggested back in 2020 that vaginas be referred to as “bonus holes” so as not to offend transgender people, but the term has gone viral on Twitter Thursday after someone posted a screenshot.

Yahoo News did a piece back in 2018 about the “outrage” over a safe-sex guide referring to vaginas as “front holes.” They say they’re not trying to erase women, but they’re going through government documents and changing the word “women” to “birthing person.”

I may not agree with everything GB did as a politician but despite the harsh judgements of some here I felt that she genuinely cared about people’s suffering and that she felt her hand was forced at times during the pandemic. She has a humanity about her which is entirely lacking in the chook in Queensland.

And she didn’t throw her guy under the bus either. Lucky for him she’s not like Amanda Stoker.

Gladys was unwise in her personal life but seems like she did not benefit from any “corruption”. When will Penny Wong and Katie Gallagher (plus Elbow) be investigated by the cool, shiny new NACC for their part in the conspiracy to pay 2.5M out to Higgins for the hit job on Lib government?

I subscribed one year I dunno maybe two decades ago because of a special deal. Thought I’d see what it was like. Nope, unreadable, even then. But I do have a nice world map of theirs stuck on my wall next to my desk here. It’s actually useful. And one called World Of Rivers is blue-tacked just above it for no other reason than eye candy. Gorgeous! I wish these magazines hadn’t all gone down the rabbit hole, I had many years of excellent reading from SciAm, The Economist, New Scientist and even Time. Now all are parrot cage liner.

As the largest state, NSW could have stood up for residents and all Australians by saying we will not countenance a two-tier society. But Gladys did not. Instead, she threatened the unvaccinated with not having any rights and freedoms and encouraged private business to keep us the pressure of ostracism. Thus creating and encouraging others in a two-tiered society.

In a few months time we will be voting on whether to give special rights to people with (some) aboriginal descent. Thus creating a two tiered society. This time, however, we’re being told that it won’t affect our rights. The only difference this time is that they need our votes to get it over the line.

Below is a link to one of her many press conferences telling residents of NSW that without the jabs they’d have no rights.

I take the points made by Cats here about how Gladys was deficient in ways that matter for a leader, both in Covid policy and also in probity re her lover.

But saying that the sleeze to whom she gave her heart ‘dodged a bullet’ is crazy when it is the other way round. Without him, and like it or not, Gladys may have gone to greater political heights Federally, as Steve Price opined last night in total opposition to Bolt’s slamming of her. The jury is all over the place on this one.

Most women have a level of sympathy for Gladys, as shown by surveys re her popularity. Here’s why: she was a dedicated career woman, conventionally rather absent when the pretty genes were being handed out, and yet pics of her with the sleeze show a young girl radiant in her first love, slightly simpering on the railway station and unbelievably happy. Women who have ever felt the same, with a true love, or who have even made similar mistakes themselves with a sleeze, can identify and sympathise.

Hunter and James Biden’s Former Business Partner, Tony Bobulinski, Was Ready, Willing, and Able to Testify Before the Sham Grand Jury “Investigating” Hunter.

Strangely, He Was Never Called to Give Testimony.

Tony Bobulinski, the former business partner, was open to testifying, and his attorney reached out to the office of Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss. Weiss did not return their calls, the sources said. Weiss’ decision not to bring Bobulinski is the latest indication that prosecutors investigating Hunter Biden may have avoided investigating allegations about his father, President Joe Biden.

Gladys also offered that ray of hope to a lot of women who hadn’t yet found Mr. Right as well as showing love can happen at any time. It was romantic, and women are romantic creatures. Like it or not. Men can be too, btw.

Apparently the ETU has fired a (hopefully lead) shot over Dan’s bows about duck hunting.

In another reminder that the Left always eats itself, the United Auto Workers are unimpressed by the Biden administration’s love and largesse to electric vehicles and their makers:

”The United Auto Workers (UAW), the largest auto industry union representing more than 400,000 working and middle class members, is withholding support for President Joe Biden over his administration’s “actively funding the race to the bottom” with a massive effort toward Electric Vehicles (EVs).

In an internal memo, UAW President Shawn Fain has said the union will not be endorsing Biden until major commitments are made to protect jobs and high wages for American auto workers — both of which have been threatened by the White House’s EV push.

“We want to see national leadership have our back on this before we make any commitments,” Fain wrote in the memo.

For years, Breitbart News has detailed how a publicly-funded transition from combustion engines to EVs has the potential to eliminate millions of American auto jobs and leave auto workers with drastically cut wages.

Likewise, Biden’s efforts to “decarbonize the economy,” with green energy mandates to drive up EV sales to ten times their current level by the next decade, could see China supplant Detroit, Michigan, as the auto industry’s center.”

——————————————————————————————————-

They do keep boasting about how there are fewer moving parts in EVs, how much simpler and cheaper they are to assemble, and so on.

What did they think the UAW was going to do? A seemingly permanent pillar of the Democrats is crumbling.

Greenie policies are increasingly separating unions from their traditional party affiliations. In Australia, the CFMEU is about to split, because the mining and related workers quite rightly believe that they are being sabotaged by the environmentalist leanings of those in affiliated unions who have nothing to lose.

In the US, truckdrivers are furious with the Biden administration, and loathe the ineffectual poove Pete Buttgeig. Every single act in their sector has made things worse for them.

The bond between unions and the Old Left is corroding fast.

They do keep boasting about how there are fewer moving parts in EVs, how much simpler and cheaper they are to assemble, and so on.

Pretty good article from CFACT:

The EV Kool-Aid acid Test (28 Jun)

In his 1968 book The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, author Tom Wolfe portrayed Ken Kesey as a man seeking to create a new religion. Kesey’s followers and peers — the “Merry Pranksters” – sought to create a new society based on psychedelic transcendence. Actually, it all started thanks to a CIA-sponsored drug study in which Kesey was given LSD.

Mary Barra, the CEO of General Motors, apparently finds driving an electric vehicle to be as thrilling as one of Kesey’s LSD trips. In a recent social media post, she announced, “Once you’ve experienced an [electric vehicle] and all it has to offer – the torque, handling, performance, capability – you’re in!”

The euphoria of EV zealots is rarely challenged directly by little things like facts – like the fact that the vast majority of people just do not want one. A recent Rasmussen survey found that 52 percent of American adults think EVs are not practical compared to just 25 percent who think otherwise; the rest are just not sure.

They may (arguably*) be simpler but they certainly aren’t cheaper, nor will they be so for decades due to lithium and other necessary metals. The story doesn’t add much that we don’t already know other than that some parking garages have banned then because of the fire risk. Otherwise a worthy article which I’ve added to my bookmarked EV link collection.

(* The battery is insanely complex and requires an extreme precision of manufacturing to avoid failure down the line. Even they they last only eight or ten years, whereas my humble Mazda 3 is going strong at 15. I had to replace the thermostat on it once, for a couple hundred bucks, that’s all.)

Article here:

Outgoing chief health officer Brett Sutton has been named as Victorian of the Year.

Professor Sutton, who this month resigned from the top job as chief health officer, was awarded the gong as part of the Victoria Day Council Awards ceremony at Melbourne Town Hall on Friday.

When presenting the award to Prof Sutton, former Labor premier John Brumby said the chief health officer had been a “trusted public face” during the pandemic.

Mr Brumby said Prof Sutton had shown great leadership during Covid, and Victoria’s handling of it had been “one of the best in the world”.

Prof Sutton said the award was an absolute privilege, but it was an award for all Victorians for meeting the “profound challenge” of the pandemic.

“It was an achievement of the people of Victoria,” he said.

He added “we did it together” and for that we are “richer and stronger”.

Pruf Sutton was appointed to the government role in 2019 and led the state through the Covid pandemic, issuing health advice to Victorians throughout several brutal lockdowns.

A press release sent to media prior to the announcement did not include any comments from Prof Sutton, which said there would be no one-on-one interviews with the winner.

“Unlike other years sadly there will no press conference prior to the awards and no one-on-ones with the winner due to time restraints,” the Victoria Day Council statement said.

Prof Sutton became the face of Victoria’s Covid recovery, working with Premier Daniel Andrews to lead the state through the tumultuous period.

He worked with the Premier to instil one of the world’s longest lockdowns, imposing some of the harshest Covid restrictions at the time.

Those restrictions, which included banning Melburnians from leaving their homes between the hours of 8pm and 5am, have been widely condemned and criticised in the post-pandemic years.

He was also responsible for overseeing strict travel restrictions, which saw Melburnians limited to travelling no more than five kilometres from their homes.

He also urged the Premier to order Victorians to limit outdoor exercise to one hour per day.

Prof Sutton, who recently acknowledged he held regrets over the handling of the Covid pandemic, will soon join the CSIRO as director of health and biosecurity.

Previous winners of the award include Kevin Sheedy and before that Neale Daniher, Susan Alberti, Mike Brady, Dr Alan Finkel, Judith Durham and Ron Barrassi.

Trustees of the Victoria Day Council choose the winner each year.

The trustees comprise some previous winners of the award.

The Council is separate from the Australia Day Council, which awards a Victorian Australian of the Year, which was received by paediatrician and co-founder of Health Awareness Society of Australia Dr Angraj Khillan in 2023.

Chairman of the Victoria Day Council, Mr Tony Cree, thanked Prof Sutton for his “contribution to the community”.

“The Victoria Day Council recognises people in the community that have gone above and beyond their contribution to the community within Victoria,” he said.

“On behalf of the Victoria Day Council, I thank them and congratulate them on their truly outstanding achievements and the great work they have done, I am thrilled they have been recognised in this way.”

Other award winners included Madeleine Butcher, who was named as Young Victorian of the Year.

The Victoria Day Award for the Arts went to the Castlemaine Art Museum, and the Victorian Women’s Trust was also recognised for their service.

Visy Industries was awarded as a Good Corporate Citizen.

Thep political contest these days is less between Left and Right, more between groups that can be described as “Anywheres/Somewheres”, “Cosmopolitans/Parochials”, or “Insiders/Outsiders”, and the first of each pair cares not at all for the middle and working classes. There is a great political re-alignment underway, and we can but hope that it leads to improvements in our political class.

Gladys also offered that ray of hope to a lot of women who hadn’t yet found Mr. Right as well as showing love can happen at any time. It was romantic

She allowed her position as premier to be used by a shonk because of her love, which she moved on from, once the sordid details of Dazza’s business activities came out. Incidentally, she didn’t stand by her man. So he ended up being not her true love.

Don’t forget that it was young women who fell in love with Hitler, and Mao

I don’t know how to answer that.

Gladys was the premier of NSW. Not some dizzy young thing. In fact it’s too close to how the Slapper was portrayed when her relationship with Wilson and that “union welfare fund” was revealed. Then, it was Julia was just “a young solicitor”. “It could happen to anyone”, they said. Even though she was a partner at S&G.

The fact is these women rose to the highest offices in the land.

When she became PM, she elevated Peter Slipper to Speaker. Nothing they won’t do.

Yes, they’re hypocrites. But what do you think happens to aged care residents who get covid now? They are not whisked off to some quarantine facility.

The constant lockdowns and being locked in her room and being unable to see family was very tough for my aged relative in aged care. Their obsessive attempts to keep covid out of these facilities and enforcing restrictions on anyone attempting to visit just leads to a lower quality of life for aged people in their last years. The sad fact is the most humane policy is to let covid and the flu go through these facilities, that is nature taking its course.

It’s impossible to underestimate what a slap in the face the award to Perfesser Sutton is to those of us who have seen the damage he has inflicted on the people of Victoria. The fact that he has secured a sinecure with the impossibly woke and increasingly irrelevant CSIRO is at least a fitting post for his dubious talents and one where we can hope that any damage he does is restricted to that organisation. The only other faint consolation is that the Victorian of the Year is an obscure and meaningless gong perfectly suited to a dropkick like him.

Have we entered the “unlucky” stage of Heinlein’s saying??

…“Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

“What we’re about to see is probably an average 25 per cent power price hike right across the eastern and southern states of Australia,” Mr Gibson said.

“And, in fact, in some cases people are getting much, much higher increases — 50, 80, even 100 per cent in some cases.

….
Ms McNamara is an entitled trougher flinging the price increases back in peoples faces..
..Sarah McNamara, the chief executive of industry lobby group the Australian Energy Council..
…Despite this, Ms McNamara urged consumers to shop around for the best offer, explaining that the exit of some retailers “doesn’t mean there aren’t any good deals out there at the moment”.

“And what we think is really important in an environment of rising prices is households and small businesses are making sure they’re on the best deal for their circumstances,” she said.

“And the easiest way to do that is to ring your retailer and just ask.”…

Mr Gibson to the gibbet
…”And some people, frankly, if they don’t switch plans and providers are going to pay $1,000 more than they have to next year for their energy bills.”…

“I see there is some schadenfreude on the matter of Gladys being pinged by ICAC for corruption, and I suppose it has a place. But it is not justice.”

I think we’ve reached the point where, because politicians are rarely, if ever, held to account for their decisions (quite the opposite; they usually do quite well after leaving office), the general public feels entitled to take whatever measure of justice is on offer, Cats not excluded.

As I wrote in response to this yesterday, if electors perceive that our politicians can’t be held to account, our system is becoming impervious to reform and public cynicism sooner or later reaches the point where the social contract is moot.

And all this is happening at a time when the average citizen’s liberties – such as they are in Australia absent a proper Bill of Rights – are under attack from the political caste.

Our democracy is headed into uncharted waters.

Supposed medical expert Dr. Peter Hotez is a repulsive turd-shaped pear.
Fitness entrepreneur AJ Cortes is here to talk about how our leaders are all fat and out of shape.
These healthcare oligarchs claim to be experts but are not.
They live in a world of academia and revel in their societal status.
People like Peter Hotez and Bill Gates propagate complete lies.
Becoming healthy is a process that forces a confrontation with reality and truth.
You are either strong, weak, fat, or skinny.
America is an increasingly lazy nation and obesity is at epidemic levels.
Many of the leaders in our country are fat and lazy old men.
Being ashamed of being fat, obese, and unhealthy is a good thing and can be used to motivate people to take better care of themselves.
We have normalized apathy, sin, and laziness.
We also live in a society where the sicker you are the more money gets paid to Big Pharma.

With Gladys all over twitter this morning, it got me thinking about what I see as a huge flaw in our legal system i.e. the ability to ruin someone’s life without a criminal conviction. With the exception of BRS, I make no judgement of to the examples below’s guilt or innocence. My point is, if they have committed a crime, get them before 12 of their peers and find them guilty before ruining their life.

First Gladys. She has been found to be a corrupt liar but has committed no crime. What? If she has committed no crime, then she should is innocent. If corruption isn’t a crime, then what is it? ICAC no doubt costs tens of millions, if not more, annually and they produce this garbage! It seems to me to be no more than a kangaroo court, full of pompous, vindictive legal types. End it now.

BRS. Yes, he brought it upon himself be suing Nine, but the outcome seems entirely unsatisfactory. A judge has found him to be (probably) guilty of murder as per the standard of that court. Yet, if he ever is charged over the same alleged offenses (and he hasn’t been after over 6 years of investigation), he has to be presumed innocent. Leaving aside how he could get a fair trial in such circumstances, what if he is found not guilty? Does Nine’s ‘truth’ defence and therefore the judgement stand?

Barry Cable. He was sued for the historical (1970s) grooming and rape of a 12 yr old girl. 4 other girls testified in his trial as witnesses, not claimants (or whatever accusers are called). Cable denied all wrongdoing. The judge found him guilty and fined him just under $1meg. Since then, the AFL has stripped him of his honours e.g. Legend status. I also recently read of a Scottish soccer player who had been found guilty in a civil court of rape, so had to leave Britain to pursue his career. He was signed to a Perth soccer club but was sacked due to complaints.

There is a reason for the standard of ‘beyond a reasonable doubt’, but it seems there is an easier and more profitable option for potentially vindictive complainants to ruin someone’s life.

This really ought to be broadcast far and wide.

Being asked to discriminate on any basis other than competence should considered a form of abuse.

But, hey! Let’s put it to the Australian people. We pay hefty taxes for, amongst other things, defence. We buy equipment worth anmounts orders of magnitude more than most of us will ever earn. The purpose of this is to protect us from those who would destroy our nation and place our people in the service of another people.

So, should we be putting the people best able to save us from that in the position to do so? Or should we use a team more likely to fail ability but more ‘diverse’.

How many people are happy with that trade off?

The top five leading causes of death in Australia and these are the latest figures. The figures for 2022 must be coming out soon as we are now half way through 2023 –

The top five causes of death accounted for 59,550 of all registered deaths in 2021, that’s 34.7% of the total or about one in three. All are related to our health.

Ischaemic heart diseases
Dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease
Cerebrovascular diseases (e.g. stroke)
Lung cancer
Chronic lower respiratory diseases

The ABS said there were 1,122 deaths due to COVID-19 – most associated with the Delta wave – making it the 34th leading cause of death in 2021.

So, what was all the fuss and cost to Society about you ‘Pollies’ and so called Health ‘egg spurts’?

My 21yo daughter wants to see Taylor Swift, so she got me and seven other family members as well as herself to sit on the Ticketek site this morning waiting for the Sydney show to open. Well we all sat there for 2+ hours and never got through once. One of her friends got through twice but the second time she couldn’t buy tickets as she had already bought four.

WOKE = RACISM = UNCONSTITUTIONALITY

“I previously wrote that WOKE is by no means establishing EQUALITY – it is creating racism which is unconstitutional. This entire agenda is total nonsense. Gays are now being discriminated against as part of this propaganda movement behind Transgenderism. When companies make targeted racial composition goals for their employees, they have to engage in discrimination to achieve those goals. That is discrimination not to hire a white person who is more qualified because, like the White House, which wants a black girl – not even a black man as its spokesperson to appear WOKE.

Biden promised to appoint a black woman to the Supreme Court regardless of her qualification. Even if a black man would be better, it did not matter – do not apply. I watched the prosecutions in New York with amazement. They would put a black kid on trial, and he would magically get a black judge and a nearly full black jury where they would select the older blacks who were prejudiced against the young blacks shooting up the neighborhood. The judge would hand out a harsh sentence for these young blacks he would view as ruining his reputation.

There was a Chinese slave ship that ran aground on Long Island. The Chinese defendant magically got the only Chinese Judge Chin. I saw a Jewish guy get the maximum sentence because the judge was Jewish and he even said that he had disgraced his school that the judge also went to.

This nonsense that appointing a black woman would somehow rule in favor of blacks is such propaganda it is amazing. One lawyer accused a prosecutor of selecting a racially charged jury and the prosecutor then said he would make sure that lawyer was stripped of his license to practice in NY city.

The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that race-conscious admission policies of Harvard College and the University of North Carolina violate the Constitution, bringing an end to affirmative action in higher education in a decision that will reverberate across campuses nationwide and corporate boardrooms. This is a wake-up call that WOKE is flat outright racial and unconstitutional. People who work hard and graduate at the top of their class find this insufficient. They will not be hired if they do not fit a racial quota for the company’s WOKE score. I am getting a lot of emails about this taking place already. This decision today will establish a critical precedent and unleash lawsuits against these WOKE companies who are engaging in racism to file some arbitrary score.

The court ruled 6-3 along ideological lines in the University of North Carolina case and 6-2 in the Harvard dispute. Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson recused herself. Chief Justice John Roberts authored the majority opinion, joined by Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett. Thomas read a concurring opinion from the bench. Justice Sonia Sotomayor also read her dissent aloud, the first time a dissenting justice has done so this term.

“The Harvard and UNC admissions programs cannot be reconciled with the guarantees of the Equal Protection Clause.” Satomayor’s dissent argued:

The Court concludes that Harvard’s and UNC’s policies are unconstitutional because they serve objectives that are insufficiently measurable, employ racial categories that are imprecise and overbroad, rely on racial stereotypes and disadvantage nonminority groups, and do not have an end point. ”

WOKE = RACISM = UNCONSTITUTIONALITY

Gabor – I was thinking more of things like climate rubbish, for which there’s abundant evidence that not much is happening. And that a man is not a woman and vice versa. But it is possible I could be fined half a million for saying such things in our new Orwellian age.

So do I tell truth to power or do as they want, which is to stay mum?

We’re already seeing Christians being thrown into jail for saying such things. This map I saw today was interesting:

Ireland Proposes ‘No Prayer Zones’ (27 Jun)

If they don’t believe in God what is prayer going to do? Harmless. So why make it illegal? If they do believe in God then they’re going to hell. Seems a pretty simple equation to me.

If you or Hairy have the time or inclination, read upon Black May, May 1943. In that month, 43 U-Boats were sunk, including one in which the son of Admiral Doenitz, Commander U-Boats, died.

Early in June, Doenitz recalled the U-Boats from the Atlantic, to re-consider tactics.

Not really.
The issue was that totally underqualified Blacks [such as Michelle Obama] were being accepted into the Ivies over qualified Whites.
That didn’t seem to matter until more recently, when hopelessly underqualified Blacks were being accepted in front of highly qualified [because they’d spent their entire lives swotting] children of East Asian Tiger Mothers.
The Ivies won’t change tack, so it’s up to the Ant Colony people to take them on in the Courts.

“First Gladys. She has been found to be a corrupt liar but has committed no crime. What?”

Not exactly; ICAC has recommended no criminal prosecution. But whether she has committed a crime for which there are reasonable grounds of conviction, the prosecution of which would be in the public interest, will be weighed up by the NSW ODPP in due course. To my mind the most questionable thing about the process thus far is the time ICAC took to reach its decision.

So ICAC has recommended no criminal prosecution of Gladys Berejiklian, but finds her “corrupt” — just like Ben Roberts-Smith is “guilty of war crimes” according to a weak little man on the Federal Court bench in a civil trial where criminal standards do not apply.

It’s not just America where double standards apply.

Now I can see that some men might rather welcome an end to the old-fashioned scenario whereby they find themselves held to account for the paternity of children born to girls with whom they just happen to have had sex. The actor Jude Law recently found himself in just this position, and unhesitatingly and ungallantly demanded a DNA test.
