That settles it then.

Nurse turtlehead, just so we’re clear. Only yesterday you vowed that you didn’t want to speak to a “prick” like me. I’m guessing that after a day that great deal’s off. Or perhaps speaking about me is fine?

You’re such a passive aggressive old woman. You really can’t over the fact that I just don’t like you and have zero respect, but then rejection came to you at an early age and hence the meandering from grovelling to anger. Can’t you just go away and stop the obsession with me? Statistically, you have a finite time on this earth, go and enjoy it instead of trying to convince people that you’re a big thinker always seeming angry at the world.

Ozzie, the COVID bullshit appears to have completely screwed up the world. So many things just don’t work anymore. You phone a call centre and the idiot on the other end is home with a kid screaming or dog barking in the background. Everything’s rooted. Incompetence rules, from the US president to the current Ausssie PM down.

I have to agree. I feel sorry for all the enterprises I see where the proprietors are desperately trying to establish normalcy – but find constant obstacles in staff and supply shortages. It must be very demoralising – especially when facing escalating operating costs from pre-pandemic levels.

While the economically prosperous world may have been inevitably facing a cynical downturn, I cannot but believe that the pandemic and the criminal way it was managed by governments will cause a greater downturn than would otherwise have eventuated.

According to NATO, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was in response to NATO moves eastward.

Rather than make a settled treaty with Russia, NATO was intent on provoking armed conflict with Russia. at US bidding.

Well, Ukraine is certainly now getting that. Ukraine should have a good hard look at what has become of former allies of US aggression. They won’t of course, while rivers of OPM are flowing through Kiev.

Indigenous activist behind Cheer Cheese campaign Stephen Hagan seeks $500k in Daily Mail suit

By NICHOLAS FINCH

A prominent Indigenous academic behind the campaign to rename Cheer Cheese has made good on a promise to sue the Daily Mail for racial vilification, after they allegedly falsely implied he would actively campaign to rename Paul’s ‘Smarter White’ milk.

Stephen Hagan, a former lecturer at The University of Queensland, is seeking $500,000 in damages from the Daily Mail, following an article which he claims “represented a deliberate distortion of the truth” by inferring he was offended by the milk.

Dr Hagan initially took his complaint to the Australian Human Rights Commission, seeking compensation from both the Daily Mail and Nine’s Today Show, who also reported the comments.

But after Nine apologised and provided a private settlement, Dr Hagan took action against the Daily Mail in the human rights division of the Federal Court.

In his application, Dr Hagan alleged the Daily Mail article falsely implied he was personally insulted by the ‘Smarter White’ milk brand, and said the article was written “to create a story where there was none, based on (his) race”.

Dr Hagan has previously led a successful campaign to change the name of Cheer Cheese from a racial slur.

The article included an interview with Opposition Indigenous Affairs spokeswoman Jacinta Price, who called the idea of renaming the milk “ridiculous”.

Dr Hagan has alleged Senator Price’s comments were included to “insult and humiliate him” and “incite readers against him” on the basis of his race.

But the Daily Mail has demanded the case be dismissed and Dr Hagan pay all costs.

The publisher’s defence filed to court claims Dr Hagan told a journalist about “conversations with people who did not buy Paul’s Smarter White Milk because the inference of ‘white’ and the connotation that white people are smart.”

“During the interview, (Dr Hagan) informed (the journalist) that he had not taken action in relation to the name of the milk, but if enough people brought it to (his) attention, he would be happy to write a letter to Pauls asking them to consider changing the name of the milk,” the defence reads.

However Dr Hagan denies this, saying he told the journalist explicitly he was “not offended by the name and had no intention of pursuing a campaign to change the name of Paul’s ‘Smarter White’ milk.”

He said the Daily Mail’s article “offended, insulted and humiliated” him, and “trivialised” his genuine concern and “race-based concern” with the Cheer Cheese campaign.

The article followed a post made by former NSW One Nation Leader Mark Latham, who commented that he was “surprised the mob haven’t cancelled (Paul’s Smarter White) milk”.

The headline of the Daily Mail article, which is no longer available online, said Dr Hagan, after forcing Cheer Cheese’s old brand from the shelves, “now wants Pauls to consider scrapping ‘Smarter White’ milk brand – because it’s offensive to Aboriginals”.

Dr Hagan has previously led several social justice campaigns across Australia, including the removal of the N-slur from a sign in the Toowoomba Sports Ground.

The matter is due for its first court hearing on October 9.

All of these had very positive evidence and support.

Then in the Labor landslide that gave us McClown, Rick was turfed from State Parliament.

“Prominent Indigenous campaigner for the voice to parliament, Marcia Langton, has accused no voters of opposing the referendum because of “base racism” or “sheer stupidity” at a forum in Bunbury, Western Australia.”

Be prepared for an almighty revolt of the elites against ordinary working and middle class Australians. This Voice is our Brexit, it is our November 2016. If (and I suspect it will) the referendum goes down the drain, then the anger of the elites towards the plebs will be palpable. We will be made to pay for our wilful disobedience. This anger, this fury is already gaining traction. I’m reminded of the Erinyes from ancient Greek mythology, they were female deities who resided in Erebus, and they took vengeance on men. Marcia Langton is one of our own Erinyes, a woman who resides in a dark place, possessed and fuelled by hate, bile, spite, division, and loathing towards those of us who dare to disagree with her.

I was reminded again today of this smug elitist disdain in my confrontation with the YES spruiker (wearing a teal coloured t-shirt). You see, he doesn’t give a rat’s arse about indigenous men, women and children, his spruiking in Sydney’s Wentworth, perhaps the wealthiest electorate in the country, is all about making him feel good, it’s got nothing to do with improving the lives of the indigenous in dysfunctional communities. But it’s also something more sinister, it’s about control, about keeping people in their place. And if the rednecks refuse to kowtow to the elites of Wentworth, then they’re “racists”, they’re “dumb”. We’ve seen this time and time again, after Brexit, after November 2016. There’s an ideological war going on, and it’ time ordinary people started fighting this war.

I came to the conclusion a while back that whilst Karl Marx didn’t get much right, he did get one thing right, which is that most societal and ideological conflict IS class driven. It’s just that Marx would be very surprised to see how his philosophy has been turned around and upside down in the 21st century. It isn’t the working class revolting against the elites, no, no, no, it’s the elites revolting against the uppity ordinary, the aspirational poor, the downtrodden. Perhaps it’s always been like that, I don’t know but one thing I do know is that this “Voice” is a cudgel for the elites to bash us with, regardless of whether it gets up or not, we will forever be smeared as dumb and racist. And all I say to the likes of Erinyes Langton is…

Sticks and stones may break my bones
But your words, your insults and your smears shall never hurt me.

It’s interesting that so many senior representatives (Noel, Albo, Marcia, yes, that’s you lot for a start!) of the “Yes” camp think it’s ok to lambast those who disagree with you, label them all manner of things and make threats upon them. (no more welcome to country .. do they seriously think we want or enjoy that crap?)

If you are trying to get everyone along to your way of thinking, it seems an odd thing to do, to me anyway.

Are they just so used to getting their own way by bad temper and shouting people down perhaps?

Stamping their feet and holding their breath till they get their own way even?

None of them appear to have any talent for negotiating at all, it’s all threats and shouting the moment they don’t get exactly what they want. Albo is no different either, but he has the advantage of the taxpayer’s purse.

Reconcilliation is a wasted word these days, there is no 2 way street, it’s all one way with zero responsibility or accountability. Noel even says, his people are horrified of responsibility.

The behaviour of the the “Yes” mob reinfoces why we should vote “No”.

*I see Noel is now telling everyone Tasmanians, that once the Voice is in, they can do whatever they like, even having 1,500 delegates would not trouble him. Thanks for sharing … mate.

Richard Marles made a good point in Parliament today. He said that the LNP had two “conceits” (ie claims of competence) – Defence & the Economy. He then went on to criticise their claims of achievement in both.

Given the complete stuff-up of the economy under Morrison & Frydenberg in the Covid years, and the failure of successive LNP governments to scour Defence of bureaucratic rubbish…..he has a point.

Does Marcia Langton’s dismissal of No case signal the death knell of the Indigenous voice?
dennis shanahan

Will Marcia Langton’s dismissal of the referendum No case as either “base racism or sheer stupidity” be the Indigenous voice’s campaign death knell as was Hillary Clinton’s dismissal of Donald Trump’s supporters as a “basket of deplorables” in her US Presidential election campaign?

Will it be seen as Mark Latham’s aggressive handshake of a much older John Howard during the dying days of the 2004 election campaign?

It is too early judge, just as the full extent of Clinton’s gaffe was not recognised until later, but, as the Yes campaign for the Indigenous Voice to Parliament flounders, loses momentum and is given up for being lost there cannot have been a worse intervention.

Indigenous Australians Minister Linda Burney has called on everyone involved in the referendum to act respectfully after the Opposition demanded she condemn reported comments Voice backer Marcia Langton made in Bunbury.

The Minister said there was “no room for racism of any kind in this country”.

Deputy Liberal leader Sussan Ley asked Ms Burney in Question Time about comments made at an Edith Cowan University forum in Bunbury at the weekend, where Professor Langton spoke about people planning on voting no in the Indigenous Voice to Parliament referendum.

Bit late for that, isn’t it, Linda? That’s what Ms Langton thinks of “NO” voters?

If President Trump has any sense at all, he’ll pull all US forces and equipment out of Europe – including all the pre positioned equipment/fuel/ammo – the lot. And told the Europeans they were on their own.

This would certainly be the most conducive measure for peace on the Continent.

I don’t make this recommendation lightly, DB. At the moment, Europe is behaving like a front bar urger, standing behind the US, trying to make it look like they are being held back by the US.
Perhaps if the puny NATO partners had to actually do something without their big brother to shield them, a bit of sanity would prevail. I know if I was in Birmingham, Berlin or Prague, on the 6 PM bus home, I’d be more concerned with the idiots in my own government than with what Moscow is doing.

One thing that might relate this to the detransitioning video I put here earlier is recall how one in particular of those polite and middle class young women detransitioning commented on how testosterone was making her feel suddenly extremely violent and out of control? Putting the wrong sex hormones into a human body during teenage and early adult years, when things are still settling down, can cause all sorts of emotional sways. I felt sorry for this girl and the strange ideologies she obviously trying to live out. I’ve got a solution, Marcia. Stop paying sit-down money. Close down the funding of fake aborigines. We save $39bn which is manifestly being wasted, and by requiring everyone to work for a living, we shut down the places where all the bad stuff happens.

You’re constantly trying to find an excuse for Russia while showing no respect for the opposing viewpoint.

These nations who want membership in NATO or the EU were utterly terrified of an unruly future Russia. It’s not so much that the US sought to weaken Russia; rather, nations that had been under the Soviet jackboot wished to never again experience it. The US was neither here nor there in this, but the pressure from the Western European countries and those nations seeking to break free of their shotgun marriage to Russia would all have had an effect on US policy.

You simply won’t acknowledge the intense resentment these individuals felt toward the Soviet jackboot.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently shared a video with her followers on Instagram that disputes the crippling inflation Americans are struggling with and suggesting it’s just propaganda.

AOC and others on the far left can’t admit that inflation is a real problem because that would be admitting a failure of Joe Biden and the Democrats.

In AOC’s district, where many people are struggling just like other Americans all over the country, some are starting to question her sanity.

Oops, that’s unfortunate…

Multiple vehicles destroyed after electric car’s lithium-ion battery sparks carpark fire at Sydney Airport (Sky News, 12 Sep)

A fire sparked by a lithium-ion battery has destroyed several vehicles, including a luxury car at Sydney Airport.

Fire crews were called to a carpark on Airport Drive in Mascot at about 8.30pm on Monday after flames had ravaged five vehicles.

The fire initially engulfed a luxury electric vehicle before spreading to four other cars.

That “luxury electric vehicle” sounds awfully like it has to be a Tesla. Cats with more car-fu than I can probably tell from the photos. Whoever insured it is going to be unhappy, having to also cough up for four other vehicles.

We settled on a 40-50 berth boat, but still managed to attract a complete dickhead.

Next day he went into full 14 year old show off mode, very loudly asking the Captain if it was OK to dive off the upper deck.

I came to the conclusion a while back that whilst Karl Marx didn’t get much right, he did get one thing right, which is that most societal and ideological conflict IS class driven. It’s just that Marx would be very surprised to see how his philosophy has been turned around and upside down in the 21st century.

Spot on, Cassie.

However, Marxism is a top-down revolution where the ruling elite screws the working class and therefore doesn’t work in a democracy — only in bloody autocratic purges of dissident plebs.

For example, two of the Marxists driving the Yes campaign spent today trying to get the October 14 Yes vote below 30%.

Marcia Langton — backed up by federal blackfellas minister Linda Burnley — is a clueless Marxist academic who thinks it’s clever to accuse a majority of Australians of “racism” and “stupidity”.

Graham Richardson needs to come out of retirement and clean out the ALP’s current surfeit of hopeless political incompetents who don’t know how Australian democracy works.

Excuse? NATO enlargement as a Russian redline was acknowledged since the early 90s by everyone. It’s literally a Who’s Who of the foreign policy establishment. It’s hardly an excuse to recognize that moving eastwards would antagonize the Russians and that at some point this would likely lead to a confrontation.

This highlights exactly my point in what I initially said. Again, you offer no views on how these people living under the Soviet boot felt about it all. It’s all how Russia feelz.

Nonsense, JC. Re 1, those nations weren’t scared of Russia in the 90s or 00s. They wanted to relitigate not only their Soviet era grievances but also their Imperial era grievances through NATO. Re 2, Merkel and Sarkozy were opposed to Bush’s invitation to Georgia and Ukraine in 2008.

I never suggested they were afraid of Russia, either in the immediate aftermath of the breakup or in the near future, because of Russia’s weak state, but they damn well were worried about the medium term and longer. Otherwise, why join NATO and the EU. They didn’t have a gun to their heads, Soviet style, and were told to join or else. They applied and did so hurriedly.

If you’re injecting people with grievances into an institution they are going to pervert whatever purposes it otherwise might legitimately have in the direction of their grievances. And here we are.

Oh, please, Russia is grievance central. In fact, all of Europe is. However, that doesn’t mean those former Soviet satellites didn’t have a point. Of course they did.

Midnight Oil to produce Yes ads

Peter Garrett says his band Midnight Oil has “put aside a shoe full of loose change” to place ads for the voice yes campaign to appeal to older male voters.

The former Labor politician and activist, who supports the referendum, said he is concerned about the way the debate has been progressing.

“We probably want to play some ads on Triple M-type FM rock radio stations to appeal to males over 50, who don’t want to vote for the voice,” he said at the Property Council’s annual conference in Adelaide.

“It’s not only them now, as you will have seen from the latest polling, who are becoming more reluctant about supporting the voice. I think there’s a broader discussion there.”

However, he said the band is not issuing a “political manifesto from the stage”.

“We respect people, and they can take it however they wish,” Mr Garrett said,

She woz taken out of context youse guys! James Morrow reporting on Vinegar Tits:

Professor Marcia Langton has been forced to deny accusing No voters in the upcoming Voice to Parliament referendum of “base racism” and “sheer stupidity”.

She has instead claimed she was talking about the tactics of the No campaign, and not its supporters, after comments she made at an open forum were reported.

“Every time the No cases raise their arguments, if you start pulling it apart you get down to base racism — I’m sorry to say that’s where it lands — or sheer stupidity,” Professor Langton was reported to have said at the event at WA’s Edith Cowan University.

“If you look at any reputable fact-checker, every one of them says the No case is substantially false. They are lying to you.”

The comments, which were first picked up by the Bunbury Herald, were quickly highlighted by the No campaign as evidence of the divisiveness of those advocating for the referendum.

Speaking on the floor of parliament, Deputy Opposition Leader Sussan Ley said the comments were “a window into the psyche of the Yes campaign and it’s a window into the psyche of a modern Labor Party”.

“They refuse to accept that everyday Australians do not like what they see when it comes to the Voice.”

Shadow Indigenous Australians Minister Jacinta Nampijinpa Price said the comments illustrated “the mindset and agenda of the Aboriginal activists pushing the divisive voice”.

“Whichever way the referendum goes, the result looks like it will be extremely close and any suggestion No voters who are unpersuaded by their proposed voice are siding with racism or stupidity is highly offensive to at least half the country,” she said.

Indigenous advocate and prominent No campaigner Warren Mundine said: “They (the No camp) haven’t learnt their lesson that you don’t win people over by abusing people and threatening them.”

However Prof Langton denied calling No voters “racist and stupid” and said her reported remarks were specifically in response to questions about the tactics of anti-Voice campaigners and compensation claims, not Australians who were considering voting now.

“I am not a racist and I don’t believe that the majority of Australians are racist,” she said.

“I do believe the No campaigners are using racist tactics.”

Ms Langton said her comments were not in relation to voters.

Asked at the forum if all Aboriginal people would be paid compensation if the Yes vote won, Ms Langton said the argument being used was based on racism.

“Every time the No case raises one of their arguments, if you start pulling it apart, you get down to base racism … or just sheer stupidity,” she said in Bunbury.

The controversy came just days after Noel Pearson, one of the chief advocates for the Voice who has previously come under fire himself for negative comments about No campaigners, attempted to encourage Voice supporters to try a different approach.

“There’s a great swag of Australians who still are undecided or soft in their No or soft in their Yes,” Mr Pearson told ABC Radio Tuesday, adding that opponents needed to be treated with “respect”.

Treated with respect says Mr Pearson. The no campaign are using racisty racist tactics, which remain unexplained. Could it just be as Ley, Price and Mundine say about this Voice, which is shit on steroids?
Pearson and Langton have lost all respect in this debate and should no longer be heard. Or as I said earlier, keep going because it’s free advertising for the no campaign and shines a light on the real frauds.

It’s popular amongst certain pretentious Aussie (and Cat) travellers to abhor the observed behaviour of fellow Aussie travellers.
Mainly, this stupid stems from the little Aussie traveller actually recognising fellow Aussies and being holier than thou about their almost inevitablly reasonable but national behaviour. If occasional Cat travellers want to be truely disturbed by travelling companions:

And, please, don’t talk about the Chinks on the ski fields.

Swedes on beaches anywhere – taking over.

In the many years that I have spent living overseas, The only time I was disturbed by Aussies was the Munich beer pissup. And, their reaction was a n appropriate counter to the closed shop nature of that event.

When transparency is on par of looking through mud in a beer bottle. Herald Sun:

The independent watchdog on politicians’ expenses has revealed the Defence Department has blocked it from accessing documents detailing Defence Minister Richard Marles’ VIP flights and the details of every other minister flying on RAAF planes for nearly two years.

The failure to provide the passenger and flight details means the Independent Parliamentary Expenses Authority is currently unable to recover funds from the offices of MPs who use the VIPs to ferry electorate staff and family across the country.

News.com.au revealed last month that Mr Marles had spent over $3.6 million on VIP flights but was refusing to say where he travelled or who was on board, citing security concerns.

While it was known that the Defence Department had paused the provision of the information including passenger manifests to IPEA pending a security review last year, the Albanese Government has recently spruiked the fact that the provision of the data would now resume to boost “transparency.”

In fact, the Albanese Government’s own talking points to Labor MPs, leaked to the news.com.au, states the following under the heading “transparency.”

“The Albanese Government is absolutely committed to transparency,’’ the talking points state.

“Appropriate oversight and transparency measures will be put in place, including the provision of manifests to the Independent Parliamentary Expenses Authority.”

Over a fortnight ago, the Defence Department also released a statement insisting that the SPA Guidelines had been updated to “reflect the outcomes of the security review while also ensuring accountability in reporting.”

“Defence will provide passenger manifests to the Independent Parliamentary Expenses Authority (IPEA) who conduct assurance activities and audits relating to all work expenses, travel expenses and travel allowances claimed by parliamentarians and their staff,’’ a spokesman said.

But when news.com.au lodged freedom of information requests with the Independent Parliamentary Expenses Authority over those documents, the watchdog promptly advised the documents did not exist.

“IPEA undertakes budget allocation and recovery action based on information provided by the Department of Defence,’’ a spokesperson said.

“As of 12 September 2023, IPEA has not received any new details of Special Purpose Aircraft flights. The most recent information relates to 2021. Discussions with the Department of Defence relating to the Special Purpose Aircraft are ongoing and further questions are best directed to them.”

Skip to 8:09 to get a hint of how the pressures on workers arise; through unrestrained corporate competition. Whether you see this as ultracapitalism or some more socialised fascism depends on whether it occurs with the knowledge or encouragement of the State. A case of splitting hairs, perhaps.

Someone here the other day was wondering how Apple has 20% of phone market share but 90% of the phone profits. Preventing international customers from paying for mental health maintenance of Chinese assembly workers is surely part of the answer.

Terry McCrann has a few unpleasant things to say about the PM’s housing plan.

PM Anthony Albanese’s housing plan will waste $10bn and make the housing shortage worse
TERRY MCCRANN

It’s an infallible rule of thumb that if the Greens are in favour of something, it will have outcomes somewhere between disastrous and catastrophic and always exactly counter-productive.

You can take it to the bank that this will be the case with the Labor-Green plan to splurge $10bn of taxpayer money to purportedly “deliver” – note, not actually build – 30,000 so-called “social and affordable” rental homes over the next five years.

Yes, the $10bn might get those specific 30,000 homes built; but even that is highly dubious given how hopeless governments are in actually delivering anything tangible.
But irrespective, the number would be but a drop in the vast housing supply shortage ocean – as AMP economist Shane Oliver precisely nailed it Tuesday.

Just put that number next to the 1.2m homes that Labor is already committed to – supposedly – getting built over that same “next five years”.

It’s an utterly insignificant addition to what was in itself from the get-go a fantasy figure anyway.

If indeed it’s even supposed to be an addition.

There is zero, nil, nada chance of that 1.2m getting built, so there’s even less chance of 1.23m getting built.
And remember, we have the critical shortage of both rental and new homes-to-buy right now.

That’s right now, before the government floods the country and especially Melbourne and Sydney with up to another 2m migrants over that “next five years”.

It’s all very well to keep piling on the target number. Why stop at 1.2m; why not 1.5m?

But as Oliver, and indeed countless others, keep pointing out, the real problem is the massive shortage of both materials and labour.

It’s a problem exacerbated by the concurrent massive spending on infrastructure – demanding much the same materials and much the same workers.

Furthermore, it’s not just simply that even if you deliver the 30,000 homes – just 6000 a year, spread right across the country: gee, how’d you like to be standing in that queue – it would make four-fifths of five-eighths of copulating all difference to the massive housing shortage.

Worse, it would actually increase the shortage; and – as if it was precisely designed to taunt people needing social housing and even conventional low and middle-income home-seekers – make it harder and more expensive to get a home.

It takes a particular combination of stupidity and, I have to say, deliberate malevolence, on the part of the prime minister and his government, to keep fuelling the flames of the housing and rental shortages with the massive, now utterly out-of-control, immigration, and also actually pouring more fuel into the concurrent explosion in building costs.

We are going to make the housing shortages even worse, especially for the needy and the vulnerable. and make housing, both rental and buying, more unaffordable for pretty much everyone.

Then add on the crazy, similarly out-of-control, minister for destroying our energy supply, Chris Bowen, forcing up the prices of energy into your rented or purchased home: if of course you were lucky enough to get into one.

Next time you visit Australia, prime minister, please, step forward and take a bow.

Today we went to the castle, which was rebuilt not so long ago. They demolished the WWII bunker for the 1970 expo which is a pity. Much about the Winter Summer wars of 1615, I think those clans feature in the Samurai detective novels by Laura Joh Rowland, I’ll have to read some more about the winners and losers.
Still stinking hot, though brief respite when it bucketed down early afternoon. Walked past the concert hall/stadium, apparently a K pop group are in town, 7 good looking boys affected a sort of Duran Duran Beatles cross over look, lots of girls waiting around in matching outfits with large face cut outs of their favourite boy bander.
I also noticed quite a few boy girl couples affecting matching outfits this evening, must be a thing
And despite what we’ve been lead to believe there are quite a few blondes in Japan.
Also ate ramen, fortunately with a bib.
