Caught out on the thread change.

Lizzie to Duk:

Well done Lizzie, you disagree with me and you state your reasons …. thats what this forum should be about – much better than simply thinking that labelling me antisemetic constitutes a robust rebuttal – the Duk takes you off his ‘reflexive accusers’ list, and back onto his ‘worth engaging with’ list.

JC Yes, most 1950s kids in Melbourne had that experience. The cafeteria in Myers was the high point of my experience on these infrequent shopping excursions. In more recent years I read that the cakeshop in Swanston Street, near Flinders Street, was the primary pick joint for lesbians. No reflection on your mum of course.
In the early 60s, I saw a lot of Swanston Street as a trammie on te lines that ran into the south-east.

A agree with Cohenites opinion it was a terrible decision.
Besanko is a follower of his faith.
I would have expected for him to see through all of this hit job.
I want to know if there is back ground to this – how it appears to the public.
Does his appointment to this case give it street cred.

Cheer up, Cassie. The human thirst for freedom won’t be defeated. We’re just going through a period where the advocates of tyranny and fascism are ascendant in the West and athiest wannabe gods are in fashion.

However decadent they become, they’ll never replace the real thing.

Australian Jewish Association’s strongest yet condemnation of Albanese Government
Wednesday, 13 December 2023

AJA statement:

The Australian Jewish Association strongly condemns the Albanese Government after it called for a ceasefire between Israel and the terrorist organisation, Hamas.

Through its actions and words, this Government has repeatedly demonstrated that it is no friend of Israel or the Australian Jewish Community. In a time of surging antisemitism, weak and cowardly leadership from the top, sends all the wrong messages.

The Albanese Government may get some praise from terrorist organisations and antisemitic groups but has made itself irrelevant internationally and will have zero impact on the war.

The Australian Jewish Association had warned before the last election of the risks associated with a Labor victory. Our worst fears have been confirmed. The Jewish community will never forget how our government abandoned us.

We note that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Foreign Minister Penny Wong still haven’t bothered to visit Israel to show solidarity following the horrific massacre of October 7. We thank Opposition Foreign Affairs Spokesman, Simon Birmingham, who is currently in Israel as well as the Opposition for demonstrating true leadership at this time.

As with the Nazis or ISIS, there must not be and will not be a ceasefire with Hamas. The only options are for their total surrender or complete annihilation and the return of the over 100 kidnapped Israelis.

With a government that is so weak on foreign policy, Australians will rightly be concerned about how they would handle national security issues in our region.

Robert Gregory, Chief Executive Officer, Australian Jewish Association

Javier Milei’s First Day in Office – Reduce the Size of Government

“Argentina’s new President, Javier Milei, is making headlines around the world for vowing to radically change Argentina’s failing political system. Milei campaigned on implementing a “chainsaw plan” that would swiftly cut useless bureaus that drain government resources with no or minimal benefit to the public. Milei stuck to his campaign promises and slashed the number of federal agencies from 18 to 9.

The reduction in the size of the government reflects Milei’s proactive approach and sets a precedent for the drastic measures he deems necessary to overcome Argentina’s economic challenges. The ministries that remain include Interior, Foreign Relations, Defense, Economy, Justice, Security, Health, and the recently created Ministry of Human Capital, which consolidates several previous ministries. Mileni cut agencies such as the Ministry of Women Genders and Diversity, which he believed existed as leftist pet projects.

Inflation is quickly rising close to 200%, and over 40% of the population lives below the poverty line. The nation’s net foreign currency reserves are estimated at negative -$10,000,0000. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and some private creditors expect a large payment by the end of January to the tune of $4 billion. “There is no money,” the new president said before Congress. “The outgoing government has left us on track towards hyperinflation,” Milei said. “We are going to do everything we can to avoid such a catastrophe.”

Milei rightfully believes that the country is close to collapsing. He has an unnerving task ahead of him as major changes are necessary to reverse years of policies that ruined a nation. Imagine choosing to allocate funds to a diversity panel while nearly half the country is food insecure. Reducing the size of government is a guaranteed way to cut expenses and useless regulations that do not benefit the people.”

Duk – On the insurgency thing I think the IDF has a better handle on such than anyone other than the Russians. And no one in the West can do the Russia thang (see: Chechnya).

What appears to be in train is what I’ve outlined previously. Destroy all opposition. Raze everything standing to rubble. Leave. Then let the ferals live in tents on a bare plain.

Not much you can do in a tent.

And that is how you defang an insurgency without doing the Russian option. Which also works, but only if you have the press on your side.

An insurgency only works if you are there to be insurgencied against. If you aren’t there they can’t do it to you. The key is for them to be left without a pot to piss in. In a tent.

Sally Crapp, the Melbourne mayor and the Liars are going what they possibly can to destroy the city. Over the lockdown, they reduced parking spaces by probably 30% and added empty looking bike lanes reducing streets to a single lane for cars. The parking signs are unintelligible, which means that if you’re lucky to take the only street parking space in the city, you will invariably get a fine for not reading the signs correctly.

I fail to understand how bike lanes encourage anyone to go out to dinner or shop in the CBD, no-one over 25 is going to cycle home at 11pm with a new dining suite. Hence the eating places and stores are closing down and moving out. How can they not see this?

The other day I made a remark about Chris Minns. I think it was Vicki who disagreed with me. I stand by my comment about Chris Minns being a pretty, vacuous and very useless puppet. He was an acceptable face for NSW Labor after a succession of disastrous NSW Labor leaders. That, combined with the fact that the NSW Liberals government was a tired twelve year old government, helped Labor win in March.

Minns does talk a good talk, but he does not walk that talk. He mutters condemnation of the Jew hatred running amok in this state however here’s the blunt truth, his government has directly contributed to this rampant Jew hatred, it started when the corpses scattered across southern Israel were still warm, with the disgraceful events on the steps of Sydney Opera House on the night of 9 October 2023.

Since then, it’s gotten progressively worse. Every week we have seen festivals of Jew hatred on our CBD streets, and what happens? Minns mutters some words but nothing happens, the Jew hatred continues.

Of course, a compliant media never holds Labor to account, federally or state. Meanwhile, NSW Labor are directly engaged in fomenting Jew hatred. The most recent example was last night at Waverley Council when the Liberals councillors put up a motion to condemn the Greens deputy leader, Mehreen Faruqi over her recent antisemitic stunt…BUT Labor and Greens councillors teamed up to remove any condemnation of the Greens.

So, there you have it. I’ll believe Chris Minns is sincere about Jew hatred when he takes steps to stop the Jew hatred that is running amok in his party, until then he just a good sweet talker.

I have often wondered whether Helen (pretty sure that was her name) is still on the land. She made me cry during the drought of 2017-9 when she lamented that an old cow had died just before the rains came. I really identified with that. I was desperate to keep our little herd alive & was distraught when our Ag supplier said he couldn’t get any more hay. As it turned out, we managed to get some big bales further afield. Ultimately, the rains came (big time!) & we didn’t lose an animal.

But my mind could somehow see the ragged old cows in Helen’s paddock.

I tend to agree, but the problem is, the West has made the ‘mistake’ of seeding a sizeable, and growing, Islamic population into their midst. They breed at higher rates than the domestic population, often aided by the welfare state, which means ‘leaving’ is no longer an option, the enemy is within the wire.

Vicki, no, you’re not naive, you’re hopeful, there’s nothing wrong with that, but I’m right about Chris Minns, he’s a pretty puppet, used by the left to win the election back in March. If he was serious about Jew hatred, he’d censure people in his own party and he has not done this.

But that’s fine, next time the left attack a conservative politician for the sin and folly of wearing a Nazi uniform to a fancy dress party in that conservative politician’s youth, the conservatives, instead of cowering and whimpering in the corner like they always do, instead of apologising like they always do, should instead grow a spine, stand up straight and point the finger back at Labor, the Greens and the left in general about the REAL NAZIS that infest the ALP and Greens.

On Monday night 2023, it wasn’t far-right lunatics that burnt an Israeli flag on the steps of the Sydney Opera House. On Monday night 2023, it wasn’t far-right lunatics that screamed, screeched and shouted “kill the Jews” and “gas the Jews” on the steps of the Sydney Opera House. No, it was a combination of Jew hating Muslims from Sydney’s western suburbs and Jew hating leftists, including the son of a current NSW Labor minister and a current staffer from Tania Plibersek’s office, a young man that Plibersek feebly made excuses for, saying he was “young” and had made a mistake.

Dr Duk – That’s moving the goal posts. I was answering you about how to deal with asymmetrical warfare.

The problem in Iraq and Afghanistan is the US stayed there. Us too, including your much persecuted self. If we’d all left there wouldn’t’ve been a problem. You have to be in range for a feral with an AK-47 to be a danger.

The better approach is to flatten everything then leave. If they don’t get the message the first time do it again. After a few repeats the head men decide that Friday isn’t an auspicious day to hijack an American Airlines jet. Or etc. They do rather dislike their stuff being MOABed.

In Afghanistan I’ve said a few times that what the US should’ve done is to build a reinforced concrete wall with watchtowers around every village in the country and give the head man a swag of AK’s and ammo and IR headpieces. That would’ve kept the Taliban from sneaking in after dark and doing what they did to insufficiently pious individuals.

But the US couldn’t do that since the regime in Kabul could not then control a thousand independent fortified villages who were armed to the teeth. But that’s what they should’ve done, since if the ordinary people could defy the Taliban there’d be no way a serious insurgency, not 9/11 style mass terrorism operation could be sustained.

The best answer to centralized fascist/theocratic government is decentralized armed-to-the-teeth local government, ie the Swiss model.

Unless it is on broadcast TV, only people who want to see the gore will see it.

I don’t think the choice is as clear cut as you make it.
(Language warning!)
Just reading a brief description saying that some women had been shot in both eye sockets was enough to conjure up a horrid image. I would not want to actually see that. Happy to invoke “chain of trust” principle and accept other people have seen the evidence – like it was secret intel or something.
The WW2 films of bodies being bulldozed into trenches wouldn’t have quite the same impact due to being grainy, B&W, and impersonal.
The other hazard is that it may be so unthinkably horrific that people will use that as the argument it is invented propaganda.

Perhaps this is merely why it should not be shown on broadcasts, but the chain-of-trust can be broadened by making it available for stream/download.

I don’t think the IDF are flattening everything though they are flattening everything they have linked to Hamasandco.

Rosie – It was mentioned this morning that between 58 and 71% (iirc) of northern Gaza has been functionally destroyed. Checking on the stories there’s a wide range of estimates about such things, but it’s clear the IDF is physically demolishing as much as they can. We had footage posted on the Cat of them taking down an undamaged building with a big backhoe a few weeks ago. Might even’ve been a tweet you linked, I can’t remember.

I would love that they could bulldoze every bit of building material into the Mediterranean Sea, but doing that for a city the size of Gaza is a very big logistical exercise. It will be interesting to see what compromise option they settle onto.

You have expanded on your thesis, but still have NOT come up with even the hint of a positive future strategy for the survival of the population of Israel in the future you envision. If it’s too hard, just say so

What part of ‘I dont see how Israel can survive, long term’ is unclear to you?… IMHO there is no ‘positive future’, I dont just believe its too hard, absent a reformation of Islam, I think its impossible.

You are still NOT addressing the survival of the Israeli people. If you are convinced that Israel as a nation is doomed, what happens to the current population? Are they expected, a la Goldfinger, to die? Or should there be a plan to move them elsewhere? Or have you decided that the whole non-Muslim world is doomed anyway, so the timing of the deaths is insignificant?

It is, to me, an essential follow on to your conclusion, yet you seem unwilling to address it. Why?

Can anyone explain to me why Channel Ten is defending the Lehrmann action?
They have that uber-idiot Llewellyn on tape admitting two critical things.
Identification of Lehrmann. I initially thought Ten might – just maybe – be able to build a defence around the fact that they specifically didn’t name Lehrmann.
However, today we here the tape of Llewellyn telling Britnah and Fatso Sharaz that it would be dead easy to figure out who it was. In fact, Ten added a critical snippet to The Perject report that Sam Maiden did not include in her report earlier in the day. That is, that the accused staffer “transferred with Reynolds from her previous portfolio”. The number of men who transferred with Reynolds? Precisely one … Lehrmann.
Reckless Disregard for Defamation Law. Again, Llewellyn is on tape telling the Exuding Power Couple not to worry about defamation because Lehrmann’s character would be tarnished by being labelled a rapist. Remember, there was no certainty a criminal complaint would be made or charges laid at this point. So how could Llewellyn be certain that Lehrmann’s reputation be tarnished? Unless he knew that Lehrmann’s name would make it’s way into the public domain.
In my opinion, Ten is screwed and I don’t know why they are pursuing it. It’s not as if they are doing it to placate their star recruit, Cane Toad.

Lisa Wilkinson faces uphill battle in quest for redemption

8:07PM December 13, 2023

If Lisa Wilkinson is hoping for redemption, she faces an uphill battle.

The TV presenter will step into the witness box on Thursday to testify in the defamation case Bruce Lehrmann has brought against her and Network 10.

After the disaster of her Logies speech, which humiliated her and delayed Lehrmann’s criminal trial for three months, this is Wilkinson’s moment.

It is also a pivotal moment in the defamation trial.

Wilkinson will not be trying to prove Lehrmann raped Brittany Higgins. That part of the trial – the truth defence – is over. And while each side has scored blows against the other, it’s fair to say there has been no knock-out punch.

If Justice Michael Lee, presiding over the trial, is unable to come to a firm conclusion over the truth of the claims, Wilkinson and her former colleagues at the network will have to rely on the defence of qualified privilege – that is, that they did everything in their power to act reasonably and fairly in preparing the program.

That defence has faced a strong challenge over the last two days as Lehrmann’s counsel, Matthew Richardson SC, has probed the conduct of Wilkinson’s producer, Angus Llewellyn.

On Tuesday, Llewellyn had trouble explaining why The Project team so readily accepted Higgins’ claims that photo of a bruise on her leg was evidence of the alleged rape.

On Wednesday the producer was under fire over the program’s dramatic opening statement that it was the story of a rape and “a young woman forced to choose between her career and the pursuit of justice”.

In an early part of Wilkinson’s interview, Higgins says Linda Reynolds and her chief of staff, Fiona Brown, had been supportive of her going to the police, but later in the interview claims she was told “we’re not going to stop you, but you just don’t have a job.”

Llewellyn denied Higgins’ account was “riddled with inconsistencies”.

But the most dangerous moments for Llewellyn came at the hands of Justice Lee himself.

When Richardson suggested there was no proof Higgins had been told she would lose her job, Llewellyn responded that “it’s murky, opaque territory”.

Justice Michael Lee interjected: “Are you saying that at the time the program was broadcast you had – to use your words – no proof of that allegation that she was being told that if she proceeded with police charges that she’d lose her job?

After several requests from the judge to answer the question, Llewellyn agreed he didn’t have proof.

Later the judge again interjected, over Llewellyn’s denial that Higgins’ fiance, David Sharaz, had a political agenda, despite saying the pair wanted to break the story in time for parliamentary sitting week and that his friend, Labor’s Katy Gallagher, would “probe” the issue in Question Time.

Richardson had asked Llewellyn: “You knew that Mr Sharaz intended to assist the then opposition in pursuing this story in parliament, correct?”

“Maybe,” Mr Llewellyn responded.

Justice Michael Lee interjected: “Is that a serious answer?” and went on to remind the witness he was giving sworn testimony.

Wilkinson will come under equally sharp scrutiny on Thursday over the session, in which she and Higgins war-gamed how to recruit prominent politicians and media figures who could help give momentum to their upcoming interview.

Wilkinson will certainly be asked about her comment: “I’ve so got Linda Reynolds in my sights now.”

She may also be asked about the tantalisingly headlined, but as yet unexplored, series of emails she exchanged with Sharaz headed “# MeToo Liberal Party Project Pitch”.

Llewellyn was asked several times whether he had told Wilkinson about developments in the lead-up to broadcast, including whether he had passed on information that contradicted Higgins’ claims that she had been unsupported by Reynolds’ chief of staff, Fiona Brown.

Lehrmann’s lawyers will seek to probe any discrepancies between the accounts of Wilkinson and her Channel 10 colleagues.

Wilkinson has hired her own legal team, headed by top defamation silk Sue Chrysanthou, to represent her in the proceedings, after dumping Ten’s lawyers in the apparent belief they would not adequately protect her interests.

On Thursday, Chrysanthou – after taking a back seat for much of the proceedings – will finally get to earn her fee

I think it’s a deliberate sop, a get-out-of-jail clause which does not detract from the immediate impact.
That’s why the make-believe birds in pixelcuties.com have extra limbs… but never extra nostrils

US seeks Australian help to protect ships in Red Sea as Middle East tensions soar

The US Navy has asked Australia to send a warship to the Red Sea as part of an expanded international task force, in response to growing attacks on shipping by Iran-backed militia that are threatening vital global sea lanes.

The move, under consideration by the Albanese government, would mark a major escalation in Australia’s response to the unfolding crisis in the Middle East and reflect fears the conflict could become a region-wide war.

Any Australian warship sent to the Red Sea in this crisis would be entering a hot war zone where it could easily find itself fired upon and forced to fire back amid a volatile and fast-changing security situation.

The US request came as the government toughened its stance on Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza by breaking from Washington and voting for a UN resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire despite the resolution failing to recognise Hamas’s role in the October 7 massacre of 1200 Israelis.

The move was criticised by Israel and by Jewish groups, with Israel’s ambassador to Australia Amir Maimon saying: “I find it difficult to understand how Australia can support Israel’s right to defend its people from terrorist aggression, while also voting in support of a ceasefire that will embolden Hamas and enable it to resume its attacks on Israelis.”

Good Lord. That’s not what the ADF is for.

The recruitment ads say it’s about women playing rugby at Duntroon and stuff.

I’m remembering the ad that proclaimed “MY Army gives me all the time I want with my children.”

Back in the days when the A.D.F. was a mildly alcoholic gang of heavily armed sex maniacs, one of the ouens put in for compassionate leave, because his wife was due to give birth, and he wanted to be there to support her.

He was told he had been present at the conception of said child, and that was enough….

Crash Craddock:

Cricket is mired in confusion and conflict and Usman Khawaja’s sanctioned shoes are the embodiment of the struggle.

On one hand players are allowed to take a knee to support the Black Lives Matter movement but when Khawaja wanted to wear boots with the message All Lives Matter he was deemed out of order.

Australia wouldn’t play Afghanistan in a series because of the way it treats women but was happy to play them in the World Cup.

Sometimes politics matters. Other times it doesn’t.

Khawaja was banned by Australia from wearing shoes which supported Palestinians trapped in the Gaza war.

In the end he didn’t need to wear them to get his point across. The publicity he received when they were spotted the previous day at training did the trick.

Had he felt truly committed to wearing them in a game he made a mistake by writing the messages early and taking the shoes to training.

Had he walked out to bat in the shoes on day one he would probably been fined but his message would have reached its widest audience.

In retrospect, Khawaja should have backed his cause by speaking publicly about it such was the sensitivity of the issue rather than let his skipper Pat Cummins face the cameras and negotiate some challenging terrain.

The backstory to Khawaja’s stance started long before anyone had ever heard of him as a cricketer. Khawaja always had deep-seated feelings about racial equality.

As a Pakistani-born, proudly Muslim immigrant to western Sydney, he had his own stories to tell about racism and inequality at school, in cricket and in life.

Nothing that should be compared to the atrocities in Gaza but experiences which nonetheless made him a passionate and unshackled voice on racial equality.

For many years he kept his most inner thoughts well away from public view but in the final stages of his career he has decided to let more water flow out of the dam.

If he feels strongly about something he will let the world know.

Australia often laments the lack of characters in sport and that athletes are taught to say nothing.

Khawaja is happy to break the mould but his price for being so bold this time was a dramatic 20 hour period when an angry ICC called Cricket Australia to reinforce their objection to his plan.

The long arm of the law closed in on Khawaja who had little option to abandon his plan, perhaps taking away the consolation of knowing that he still got his message across.

Yep he’s right. The message has been delivered so the Pakistani Prick doesn’t have to do fark all with his shoes. Damage is done.
Now what if there was a bloke in the side who had such strident views on Israel? A Star Of David emblazoned on the shoes?
I well remember a Jewish footy player, Sheezel for Norf Melbourne being celebrated with a flag being flown. Were a few callers into talk back radio voicing their disgust at the politicisation.
Can’t pick and choose the outrage Crash. One or the other.

If you are convinced that Israel as a nation is doomed, what happens to the current population? Are they expected, a la Goldfinger, to die? Or should there be a plan to move them elsewhere?

Start spreading the news … NY, NY.

And to be a bit less glib, does anyone doubt the USA would accept Israelis (Jews & others) if there was a need? It would probably increase the average IQ by several points for a start

I am trying, with no success, to get Dok Duk to answer the logical flow-on question after his statement that Israel has no secure long term future.

Astonishing they haven’t settled. What are their lawyers thinking telling them to keep going? These are the sorts of trials that could effectively end the career of a KC.

Nope. its standard practice: milk the mark for as much as possible, telling them they are winning, then switch stories at the last minute to ‘you need to settle this’.

I am trying, with no success, to get Dok Duk to answer the logical flow-on question after his statement that Israel has no secure long term future.

And you are refusing to accept my answer: I don’t have a solution for this that includes the survival of Israel – given they need to win *every* battle to survive, forever, in a world where they rely on western support, which is fading – at some point they lose and Israel goes away. The forces arrayed against them are simply too strong and too persistent. Why do you thing I am obliged to conjure up a solution that ignores that? At some point, IHMHO sooner rather than later, Israel loses its struggle for existence.

Israel has only existed as a nation since 1948, jews will persist after Israel doesn’t – unless they pull the Sampson option – it was ever thus.

You are still NOT addressing the survival of the Israeli people. If you are convinced that Israel as a nation is doomed, what happens to the current population?

Do I really have to spell it out? If Israel is overwhelmed, they either move or live as dhimmis or die.

Pop quiz: what happened to the Jewish population of Iran, Egypt, Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon etc etc after they became Islamic nations?

PS: I have worked in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait and Indonesia…
