All hail from Budapest, capital city of sensible Hungary. Our river cruiser hosts us on board for one night, and then tomorrow into an Airbnb for two days.

Did a city walk around. No graffiti; happy guide; no weirdo’s on the streets either. In Victory Square they have two life-size statues: George Bush and Ronald Reagan, both placed there by a citizenry grateful for US efforts in getting them out from under the Communist boot.

We used to, see the pic. It is not exactly neat and tidy but did the job.
From records, they could pour up to 15 tons in one go.

Then there was Perry engineering in Adelaide that was gutted by repeated sales and mergers.
And finally by lack of orders.

But we still have a few like Hofmann Engineering Pty. Ltd. Since 1969 still going strong in Perth.

They have a large gear cutter, going out to 15 meters diameter and with a face width of 2.5 metres.

There are more mysteries under the sun.

Why did they build it and who paid for it?

We were lead to believe that the Tibetans were poor people eking out a subsistence living herding yaks and drinking tea with yak butter.
————————–

The Himalayan towers, also known as the stone towers of Tibet, are structures found primarily in the Kham and Amdo regions of eastern Tibet.

They’re estimated to have been constructed between the 14th and 15th centuries and attributed to local Tibetan communities.
The exact purpose of these towers is still debated, with theories ranging from their use as defense structures, status symbols, storage facilities, or even watchtowers for trade routes.

They are typically found in clusters within valleys, strategically positioned to oversee vast areas.
They are built using dry-stone masonry, a technique involving the stacking of stones without the use of mortar. The towers vary in height, typically ranging from 20 to 60 meters, and are characterized by their square, star, pentagonal, or octagonal bases.

The structures taper as they rise, with multiple levels often connected by narrow, winding staircases.

Postcard.
I liked Dublin a little better today, skirted the city centre and walked through and along a couple of the parks. Lots of artists plying their wares along the railings and I’ve picked out one I liked and taken her card for when I circle back to Dublin.
Visited the National Gallery, not cover to cover, two and a half hours was enough.
They have a lot of great works including Irish arts and craft period stained glass, all enhanced with decent panels of information about each artist, their style and the subject matter.
I particularly liked the late 19th early 20th century stuff, especially those works that gave some sense of Irish history and how people lived.
There was a beautiful picture of a young priest saying mass inside a family home, a practice rooted in the penal laws.

On July 21, 2024, President Joe Biden announced his decision not to seek re-election and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for the presidential election. This decision was met with a variety of reactions. Speaker Johnson called for Biden’s resignation, suggesting that if Biden is unfit to run, he is unfit to serve. Former President Donald Trump expressed confidence in defeating Harris, while Hillary Clinton endorsed Harris as the Democratic nominee. The announcement has stirred significant discussion and speculation about the future of the Democratic party and the upcoming presidential election.

It will take a while for the truth to shake out about what the American public thinks of what happened. Australian voters tend not to like palace intrigues with cynical back room shenanigans resulting in toppled leaders, it’s not nearly as common over there so it’s an unknown quantity.

Speaking of voting irregularities, Gateway Pundit yesterday had an article by a data analyst which basically says the Dems are already preparing the ground for another 2020 – ish set of voter frauds. He says the numbers of dodgy registrations will allow another run of fake ballots to swing the key states, and that Republicans should not just cruise to November 5 thinking they have it in the bag.
I don’t know how many of you watched the full Mike Lindell symposium after the 2020 election, but the data analysis there was right on the money.

Only a month ago, prior to the disastrous ‘great debate’, prior to the bullet last week that nearly bumped off Trump in a Pennsylvania field, we were told, actually we were lectured to, that Biden’s mental acuity and cognitive health was A+++, in fact we were assured that Biden’s mental acuity was sizzling!

We were sneeringly told that our eyes and ears deceive us, that any debate around Old Joe’s apparent mental decline was a hoax, a right-wing conspiracy, actually it was a ‘far-right conspiracy’, brandied about by far-right media outlets such as Fox News.

The gaslighting, the lying, the deceit, the duplicity, and the outright fraud has been obvious, well it’s been obvious for over four years now but that’s the culture we now live in, if we see and hear something, we’re told by our betters that we didn’t see it, we didn’t hear it. Just two night ago we were told here on these pages by our own Nazi that Biden can ‘govern’.

And now I wake up to the news that Biden’s withdrawn from the race and he’s endorsing Cackling Kamala. Kamala Harris, whose only real political achievement over the last four decades was giving Willie Brown head jobs.

May God help us.

As for Old Joe, he was always the devious old dope from Delaware. And his legacy……

A bleeding border
Afghanistan
Ukraine
October 7 and Gaza
Iran on the march
A stagnant economy
A corrupt DoJ, too busy going after President Trump than rounding up illegals

I could go on, you get the message. And how Xi and Putin are laughing. I don’t blame for laughing, I’d laugh if I were them.

But remember this, we were right all along.

Bolta on the Wong Chap in today’s Tele:

IT SHOULD BE SORRY DAY FOR WRONG-AGAIN PENNY WONG

Andrew Bolt
22 Jul 2024

Foreign Minister Penny Wong should apologise for helping to turn Nasser Mashni into Mr Palestine, now that he’s told us what he really thinks of us.

Wong posted a picture of herself with Mashni, president of the Australian Palestinian Advocacy Network, saying she’d offered him her “deepest condolences … following the devastating explosion at the Gaza City Hospital”.

At the time, Foreign Minister Wong had been implying that the hospital had been attacked by Israel.

It had in fact been hit by a malfunctioning terrorist rocket.

Federal Labor MP Ged Kearney should say sorry, too, for also posting pictures of herself with Mashni, as if endorsing the poison he’s spreading here, especially among radical Aboriginals.

I’ve warned for months against Mashni, son of a “refugee” who came here falsely claiming to be a Christian fleeing persecution in Muslim Lebanon, but was actually an extremist so close to the Islamist Hamas terrorist group that a message from Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was read at his funeral.

Now I read reports of Mashni’s outburst this month, on an online panel for Ecosocialism 2024 alongside former Palestinian militant Leila Khaled.

Mashni called Khaled a hero, although she’d been jailed for helping to hijack two planes – in 1969 and 1970 – and taking passengers hostage.

Worse was how Mashni praised her, by vilifying Australia for denying her a visa to be here in person. “Our hero Leila was denied the opportunity to come here,” Mashni declared, “because this settler colonial, this racist country denied her a visa.”

It’s not the first time Mashni has expressed a seeming contempt for Australia.

He regularly speaks at anti-Israel protests in Melbourne, of course, where at one such event said he’d objected “for years” to Palestinians flying the Australian flag: “That is the colonisers’ flag. It does not belong here.”

Who does not belong here? The flag, or Mashni?

Mashni has explained his agenda on his 3CR radio show: “Israel is the domino. Israel falls over … the world is a far better place once we destroy Western imperialist control of the world.”

Mashni says Aboriginals face the same enemy as Palestinians.

It’s colonialism; Israel and Australia “are both western European settle colony constructs”.

He’s therefore formed alliances with race-baiting Senator Lidia Thorpe and the extremist Warriors of the Aboriginal Resistance, selling badges of the Aboriginal and Palestinian flags intertwined.

Imagine just for a moment the hell we’d face if some Aboriginals decided they should “resist” Australian “colonialism” the way Palestinian extremists “resist” Israel.

No, Israel’s fight really is our fight, but not quite like Mashni means. It’s a fight for Western civilisation against barbarians, tribalists and terrorism.

Step one would be for Wong to apologise for giving Mashni the credibility he does not deserve.

And that we can’t afford.

Israel falls over … the world is a far better place once we destroy Western imperialist control of the world.”

And replace it with what?
I am happy with ‘Western imperialist control’ over anything this idiot wants.

Had to be close enough for the steal to work. It was getting too difficult to bridge the gap with Biden. With Kamala and some well manipulated polling they can make it look like she’s neck and neck with Trump, or a bit behind. Then when she gets a narrow win they can say that was a surprisingly good turnout because she’s a historic first black woman candidate.

We’ll see what Jill and Hunter accepted as the payoff, or if they go for revenge instead. The latter is possible since Jill and Kamala detest each other

Moment masked vandal takes aim at pavement LGBT flag with spray gun (21 Jul)

The Met Police is investigating and undertaking house-to-house enquiries to try and track down the brazen vandal.

The Metropolitan Police is hunting down a masked vandal that painted over three Pride flags outside an east London train station in the early hours of Friday morning.

The vandal, dressed in a green hooded jacket, dark tracksuit bottoms, wore a white face mask to disguise their identity.

Armed with a roller, they painted over the LGBT flags outside Forest Gate station. The incident follows previous episodes on June 23 and 26 that saw the painted flags damaged.

Weird how they seem to be less concerned about all those people vandalizing synagogues with paint lately.

Journalists ignorant of Israel’s history

Chris Mitchell The Australian 21 July, 2024

More than nine months into Israel’s war in Gaza, much of the world’s media still has not understood Gazan civilians are the deliberate victims of Hamas’s tactics and continue to report without scepticism everything coming from journalists inside the city, who are largely Hamas members or sympathisers.

Of course the death toll of 40,000 Palestinians* – 2 per cent of Gaza’s population – is far too high. So too is the destruction of hospitals, schools, mosques and private homes.

Yet journalists have known for decades that Hamas fights all its Gaza campaigns from tunnels deliberately hidden under civilian facilities. The more tragic the circumstances of the dead the better for the terrorist death cult to boost support in the West.

Former IDF spokesman Peter Lerner told Patricia Karvelas on RN Breakfast last Wednesday that the IDF had killed or captured 14,000 fighters. Yet in much of the Arab and Iranian media the war is covered as if Hamas is winning. Odd, since the IDF has lost 350 soldiers.

The calculation in the Islamic world is about damage to the image of Israel. It is a foolish misreading of Israeli public opinion, military power and economic strength. As this column argued on June 16: “Much of the media, many university leaders and some of our politicians … (are) allowing themselves to be used in an Iranian-sponsored propaganda war to entrench Islamic fundamentalism.”

Closer to the truth about Hamas’s prospects was former Palestinian Authority Minister for Prisoners’ Affairs Ashraf Al-Ajrami, who wrote in the Palestinian daily newspaper Al-Ayyam on July 3 that Hamas was deluded. He argued October 7 would not liberate Palestinians “but cause them harm that will last for generations’’.

Hamas would precipitate “a new Nakba greater than that of 1948”. While Israel was undoubtedly being damaged by the global peace movement it was not going to collapse and the real price for Hamas’s ill-considered actions on October 7 would be paid by Palestinian civilians for years to come.

It’s not the sort of analysis you hear on the ABC or read in The Guardian. But such reassessments are being published in the northern hemisphere, even by the BBC.

On July 4 BBC online published a story by Middle East correspondent Lucy Williamson and Gaza correspondent Rushdi Aboualouf: ‘Hamas faces growing public dissent as Gaza war erodes support’.

“Open criticism of Hamas has been growing in Gaza, both on the streets and online. Some have publicly criticised Hamas for hiding hostages in apartments near a busy marketplace or firing rockets from civilian areas,” they wrote.

They quote one resident saying, “They ask what the 7 October attacks were for – some say they were a gift to Israel.”

The New York Times is also being forced to examine Hamas’s tactics.

In a piece published by the Times on July 13 and republished by the SMH and Age on July 15, the NYT examined Hamas’s use of civilians and civilian sites as cover. The Times story – “Hamas’s tactics explain why Israel has been forced to strike so much civilian infrastructure, kill so many Palestinians and detain so many civilians” – could have run any time since the war started, as many such pieces did here.

Yet most of the coverage in the West remains one-sided. Think of all the over-hyped warnings about famine in Gaza in March and April when the UN’s own aid dashboard – published in this column online on April 7 – showed the IDF was letting through more aid trucks daily than before the war. Did your preferred news source report early this month new official aid data confirming there never was a famine?

If much of the world’s media have failed to come to terms with Hamas’s tactical aims in Gaza, none seem to have understood the wider strategic aims of Hamas’s supporters – Iran, Qatar and Turkey. All seek a return to former imperial glory and all want to exclude non-Muslims from the Middle East. All are profoundly anti-Semitic governments.

Western dupes schooled in identity politics side with Palestinians they imagine are indigenous to the area between the river and the sea. They lack historical background.

Islam is a religion, not an ethnicity, and a recent religion to boot. Jews, direct descendants of the original Canaanite inhabitants of the area, are an ethno-religious grouping.

The forebears of many of today’s Palestinians came to the Levant as part of the Arab conquests after the birth of Islam in 610 AD. These conquests also took much of northern Africa, but no one would claim such Arabs were ethnic Africans.

Many other ethnic groups, neither Jewish nor Islamic, have been driven out of the Middle East since World War 1 as Muslim intolerance surged. Think of the hundred of thousands of Kurds killed, the Christan Assyrians driven from the region, the persecution of Maronite and Yazidi Christians in Lebanon and Iraq or the pogroms against Copts in Egypt. Most of those groups live peacefully within Israel and vote there.

The UN lists characteristics of indigeneity. Self-identification is number one. Jews self-identify as indigenous to Israel. Some Palestinians do but they also self-identify as Arab. Yet Arabs are not indigenous to the area.

Jews speak Hebrew, the same language used by the Israelite descendants of the original Canaanites. They called themselves Jews in ancient times. Many Palestinians migrated in the 19th and 20th centuries from Egypt, including the late PLO chief Yasser Arafat. Many prominent Palestinian family names indicate their origins: al-Masri (Egypt), al-Husseini (Arabia), al-Kurd (Kurdish).

Almost all the major cities of Israel have Jewish names that predate by many centuries the birth of Mohammed. The only Arab-founded city in all of Israel, Gaza and the West Bank is Ramle, the original administrative centre under Arab Islamic rule, not Jerusalem. Even modern Ramallah was built on top of an ancient Jewish town that predates Islam.

But it’s more than just ahistorical delusions by activist Palestinian supporters.

Much of the Western left recoils at the imperial ambitions of Vladimir Putin in Ukraine but seems unaware Arab, Turkish and Persian leaders have been working to restore past imperial glories.

Fathom Journal in June published “Imperial rollback in the Middle East: A necessity for regional peace”. The author, Olga Kirschbaum-Shirazki, Canadian academic and co-founder of the Tel Aviv Review of Books, asks why so many who see the end of the German, Hungarian, Spanish, Portuguese and Soviet empires as positives are blind to imperial aspirations in the Islamic world.

She argues the Mullahs in Iran seek a return to Persian glory, Turkey’s President Erdogan imagines a new Ottoman era and some Arab states – think Qatar’s funding of Hamas – hope for a return to former Arab glories. All want the Islamic world free of other religions.

“Palestinian maximalism is an extension, under a different name, of the Arab imperialism present in all post World War 1 states, which claimed that where Arab Muslims are a significant part of the population, they should rule,” Kirschbaum-Shirazki writes.

Of course Gaza is a tragedy. But more journalists need to understand the fundamentalist groups and regimes backing Hamas are not concerned with improving life on the Arab street, let alone peace with Israel.

*I’d suggest a critical review of the claimed 40 000 civilian death toll.

Re Leak’s cartoon this morning, Dim Chalmers has reassigned responsibility for the collection of national “well being” statistics to the ABS after Treasury used out of date figures this year.

ABS won’t issue a report until 2026.

Which is all a bit academic, as most Australians know their living standards are getting worse. What they don’t realise – being natural optimists – is just how much worse they will get under Chalmer’s economic mismanagement.

Not entirely surprising Kamala got the nod. No one else would want to run since their first tilt at the Oval Office will be a defeat.

Kamala, on the other hand, seems to have delusions as to her own genius (she thinks those inextricable tangles of words she utters are brilliant), but also the benefit that might come with the right running mate – if they are popular…

I’m distressed that Biden wasn’t buoyed by my ringing endorsement last night. It was heartfelt encouragement to continue on.

I never thought for one minute that he was cognitively impaired, let alone senile. No Sir!

Like the world’s politicians (including Albo) who have actually seen and talked to him, I believed he was a-okay. That’s because they’re all utterly trustworthy and would never ever tell lies about such a worthy US president.

Today, I’m a shocked and broken woman. Kamala may be smart, but she’ll never be as smart as Biden. It now remains for the Party to endorse her. Biden, that poor man so brutally ousted, must have his preference upheld.

She’s their only hope!

What do Stokely Carmichael, Harry Belafonte, Colin Powell, Sidney Poitier and Busta Rhymes have in common? And how are Beyoncé, Ava DuVernay, Barack Obama and Kamala Harris alike?

The Energy Transition Ain’t Happening: Hydrogen In Australia – there was a reply from a site where it was claimed:

The USN was investigating the ability to remove CO2 from seawater via a membrane. Sea water has 140 times the amount of CO2 than air, and with the nuclear reactor aboard their carriers, they could make jet fuel.

It’s somewhere in this collection but I’ve gotten confused in the process and only have these links.

We will need liquid hydrocarbon fuels indefinitely for airplanes, probably for ships, heavy construction equipment, farm equipment, and heavy freight too large for trains, and maybe for long-distance auto travel.

Fortunately, liquid hydrocarbon fuels can be made from CO2 plus hydrogen using the Fischer-Tropsch process.

Hydrogen can be extracted from seawater using the copper-chlorine thermochemical process at an energy cost of 532 kJ/mol (about 0.079 MWh/T). One step of the process needs heat at about 1000o Fahrenheit (530o Celsius), almost exactly the core temperature of a nuclear power reactor.

The concentration of CO2 in seawater is 140 times greater than in the atmosphere. Removing CO2 from seawater exploits the oceans’ enormous surface area to remove it indirectly from the atmosphere.

Perhaps you or anyone else with some science background could look further and see what he’s on about?

A couple of observations following the announcement that illegitimate illiterate innumerate incompetent syphilitic pedophilic ol’ geriatric imbecile (but enough about his good points) won’t contest the next US election (just as I predicted, many moons ago).

The fact the dumbocrats even considered that stupid evil ol’ bastard was some sort of viable candidate up until the fallout from the grate debate is undeniable evidence of the utter contempt in which they hold the electorate.

To replace him with that staggeringly stupid cackling incoherent kamel (who sucked a whole lot o’ cock to get where she is) is an even bigger insult. Not to mention that she’s electoral poison, as the dumbocrats will discover in November.

At this rate Fatty Trump will win in a Reaganesque ’84 style thumping – the dumbocrats won’t even be able to mount a credible steal attempt.

William uses NDIS funding to see sex workers. He says before that, isolation left him in ‘absolute despair’

Since he was very young, William says he has been shunned and degraded because he effectively has no arms.

William grew up isolated — his school years particularly tough, enduring “12 years of torture” where he faced daily verbal abuse from students and even teachers.

“When you’re abused every single day of your life by strangers, by people you have to go to school with … when that happens to you, you become very isolated,” William said.

As a young man, cut off from touch and intimacy, William said he was in “absolute despair”, and his isolation led to times of feeling suicidal and admission to a psychiatric hospital.

Now he is a professional with a mortgage “and everything else that most people would expect living a life”: he also engages sex workers using funding provided by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Wh-wh-whaaaa?

If he wants to visit knock shops, why the hell can’t he pay for it out of the money he earns as a “professional”? Why does he have to use his NDIS funds for it? I thought the debate around using NDIS money to pay for hookers was absolutely absurd, but this guy takes the biscuit. He apparently makes his own money but still insists on using his NDIS slush fund (which is evidently what it is) to pay for his vices.

With that said, the same goes also for people who can’t work and are on a disability pension. This is what that money is for (or whatever else they choose to spend it on – none of anyone else’s business, really). However, their NDIS grant money is not their money as such, in that they are not free to spend it on whatever they please. It is to be spent solely on supports that enable them to lead normal lives. That may mean NDIS money has purchased a particular type of transport that allows them to independently make their way to the brothel. It may mean NDIS money has purchased some kind of communication device that allows them to state whatever services they require when they get there. However, when it comes to paying the actual escort – no, they need to spend their own money for that.

What next – NDIS money is to be spent on lotto? The pokies? A weekend at the high roller’s table at Crown? Why not? Why can’t they have normal lives like you and I?

CrowdStrike IT Outage Explained by a Windows Developer

One very interesting comment –

While this is technically what crashed machines it isn’t the worst part.

CS Falcon has a way to control the staging of updates across your environment. businesses who don’t want to go out of business have a N-1 or greater staging policy and only test systems get the latest updates immediately. My work for example has a test group at N staging, a small group of noncritical systems at N-1, and the rest of our computers at N-2.

This broken update IGNORED our staging policies and went to ALL machine at the same time. CS informed us after our business was brought down that this is by design and some updates bypass policies.

So in the end, CS caused untold millions of dollars in damages not just because they pushed a bad update, but because they pushed an update that ignored their customers’ staging policies which would have prevented this type of widespread damage. Unbelievable.

Begs the question – why and was it deliberate. It sounds as though they can shut down these systems at will.

Biden will not resign the presidency. Apart from many very good political reasons, there are several showstopping practical reasons:

  1. Harris becomes President but Congress has to approve her VP pick, which will not happen.
  2. Lacking a VP, the GOP House will be able to steal the election with fake electors because MJ has no morals or shame.
  3. Even if that scenario doesn’t play out, Harris would be limited to one full term.

I don’t have the URL but there was a US company which reckoned they had a tested process to do this at a price competitive with delivering jet fuel on board from conventional sources.
Removing CO2 from the sea to make hydrocarbon fuels, which gets replaced by CO2 from the air, is carbon neutral, if you worry about that sort of thing. It means all existing fuel infrastructure and distribution as well as the vehicles that use it are already in place. Forget hydrogen, batteries etc which are all silly attempts at carbon neutrality.

My neighnour who knows everyone and everything local was discussing a building site around the corner. They are putting up a dozen or so townhouses.

The most notable aspect of the site is the two dollybirds who are propped up by stop/go signs. There is no need for traffic control, the street has virtually no traffic and a double width bike path removes any chance of traffic conflict.

Annualised, they earn more than a graduate engineer. But of course their salary cannot be annualised because they take time off to attend their Associate Diploma in IR Studies or whatever fake course, plus there is surfing trips, visits to Mum etc.

But this is an excellent situation: job sharing; more employer funded union site training, and fees. It is a wonder that they don’t work from home.

He claims that the builder told him that he would never be able to start a job if he introduced driver initiated stop lights for traffic control.

On a darker note he claimed that the Council is complicit, and that the young ladies may not have been selected exclusively on the basis of merit and next in the queue priority. Uncles rule OK.

Coles sells cheap mince and bread, which my Cafe birdies love. Woolies by contrast loves to sniff unicorn farts.

‘A pleasure’: EV utes to service Woolies supermarkets in Sydney’s west (21 Jul)

A fleet of Australian-made electric vehicles will service supermarket stores across western Sydney amid a push to revitalise motor manufacturing in Australia.

Nine electric utes developed and manufactured in the city’s west by Queensland-based ACE-EV Group will operate trolley pick-up at Woolworth’s stores. …

Woolworths 360 Facilities Director Jane Frewan said earlier this year the supermarket had “jumped at opportunity” for new trolley service.

“We were inspired by the innovative technologies we saw from Gregory McGarvie and his team at ACE EV Group,” Ms Frewan said.

Glad that you are so happy and inspired Ms Frewan, but I will not be shopping in your supermarkets. GWGB.

(This is from the Tele, and is weirdly unpaywalled. It’s a mystery.)

I think we will hear a lot of mischaracterisation of Trump- Vance as isolationist.
Which they aren’t.
They are for intervention on American terms and in American’s interests.
They are also characterised as being against trade.
They aren’t. They are for trade to be more in American terms.
And in both cases, willing to follow through with threats if other states don’t play the game.

The power of global markets is awesome.
I’m not sure any one part of it can stand up against it.
I remember going into a car wreckers yard I had in past years used. There were almost no cars in the yard.
They parted them out as soon as they came in.
Global supply chains changed that business completely.
It’s a global market. You can buy a second hand bit from any car anywhere in the world from any other part of the world and it arrives in the mail at your door.
Wreckers don’t keep many cars whole in the yard waiting for a customer to come to the door so they can send a kid out the back and wrench it off the car,
They break the cars down and put them up online to a whole world full of customers.
The parts don’t have to sit so long.
It is a much bigger change than it seems on the surface.
It means that anything in your country no longer really belongs to that country. There isn’t an Australian car parts market anymore. It a global market.
Then there was the covid times.
And masks were being smurfed from stores and sent to China. Just because goods have been landed in your country doesn’t mean they are going to be used by your citizens. The same happened to the baby formula for some time before the cov.
A bigger market has to be more efficient because there are so, so many more buyers and sellers.

 2) Patsy for real shooter who was likely in the building adjacent. Given all the other convenient security lapses and indirect evidence others knew (eg stock market activity), I favour the latter.

One audio analysis I saw yesterday had two shots after the first that were at about the same measured interval (the second pro shooter), followed by five that sounded fairly wild, fired as fast as possible (the patsy), followed by one more shot that likely was the one that killed the patsy.
I’m with Flying Duk on this one.

The ABC engages in more dishonest blame-shifting:

Joe Biden, meanwhile, just couldn’t catch a break.

His disastrous debate performance was deeply disappointing to his backers.

To millions of Americans who tuned in that night, it was shocking.

For those who’ve been paying attention Joe Biden’s verbal stumbles and jumbled thoughts are part and parcel of his public appearances.

In that sense there was some truth in the excuse he stubbornly held onto for so long that it was just “a bad night”.

When all is said and done, Biden’s inner circle will have to ask themselves whether they too readily accepted that the president increasingly wasn’t quite making sense and chose to shrug it off as just Joe being Joe.

No, Joe’s inner circle knew full well he was mentally incapacitated but ran a Weekend at Bernie’s presidency, with total (and necessary) complicity of media scoundrels like this hack. They almost pulled it off as well.

Presumably this hack counts herself as one of “those who have been paying attention”. Did she report that Biden’s “verbal stumbles and jumbled thoughts” couldn’t be “[shrugged off] as Joe being Joe”, which is what a journalist (cf. stenographer) would do? Hell no! Far easier to run with the pack and smugly report way too long after the fact something that has been obvious to those who have genuinely been paying attention – that Joe has been mentally incapacitated and unfit for office since before his first term commenced. That would have been a real story. But no, it’s Biden’s inner circle’s fault.

Although if you accept this, you must also accept that this dopey broad doesn’t have eyes, ears or a brain that would allow her to deduce something so obvious.

Alternatively, she could have knowingly been covering for Biden just like the rest of her morally degenerate ilk until they were no longer able to plausibly deny reality.

What an idiot!! Harris would not be restricted to one term. For one who thinks he knows a lot about politics you just proved you know stuff all.

If that were true how do you explain Lyndon Johnson going for a second term only to withdraw for “personal reasons”.

The Vice President can serve out the previous President’s term and 2 further terms provided he/she has served less than half the predecessor’s term. In the case of LBJ he served just about 12 months of JFK’s four year term.

Monty gives himself another upper cut.

They are for intervention on American terms and in American’s interests.

As the US always has been, at least until George H. W. Bush imprudently (to be charitable) embarked on his vision of a new world order, which his son later doubled down on.

But that doesn’t preclude a review of how AUKUS fits into those interests if a future American president has a more restrained view of foreign policy.

And we don’t have a Plan B.

“We were inspired by the innovative technologies we saw from Gregory McGarvie and his team at ACE EV Group,” Ms Frewan said.

Interestingly, this is a re-release of a release released more than a year ago:

Federal politicians Chris Bowen (Minister for Energy & Climate Change) and Ed Husic (Industry and Science) were keen to take the trolley collectors for a spin.

With word saladry that Kamala herself would be proud of:

“The ACE Transformer TC was designed then assembled by ACE EV Group, incorporating sophisticated product technology with advanced design features, each recognised as important, for low-cost transport, low air pollution, and improved delivery services which lift productivity levels.”

Which appears to be Pollywaffle for Winnah!!!

Sadly, the international roll out of Australia’s Supermarket Trolly SuperPower has been stymied by Evil Murdoch and the Climate Deniers:

He [ACE EV Chair, MD, owner, Greg McGarvie ] highlights the key challenges to EV adoption and the role media, especially NewsCorp, needs to play: “Media have an important role with electric vehicles to reflect the science truthfully. To do otherwise is hazardous to humanity and our grandchildren’s future. Alternate truths and opinions passed as fact do no good for community trust and understanding.

“To meet their targets, NewsCorp will need a sustained flushing out of climate deniers and commentators, currently still on platforms contributing to distortions and mistruths about the risks of climate change and the benefits of renewables and electric vehicles.”

A sustained flushing of distortions and mistruths about renewables and EV’s.

There’s a message in there for all of us.

And we don’t have a Plan B.

Isn’t that on us?

The US security guarantee is a mirage. Sure, it is there when we don’t need it, but if we ever do, well…we’ll sure wish we had a Plan B. Fact is that when the US can’t defend us without incurring a certain level of losses (which is likely far lower than what might be expected, given the amount we have paid in blood and treasure to maintain the arrangement over the decades), it won’t.

Furthermore, the circumstances in which we might need to rely upon the US security guarantee are likely to be the same circumstances that preclude the US from performing its obligations to us. This is eminently foreseeable, yet we persist with the fantasy that we can rely on a great power on the other side of a vast ocean to be the ultimate guarantor of our security.

We haven’t learnt anything since 1941, it seems.

California Governor Gavin Newsom endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic presidential nomination shortly after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race. Harris has received endorsements from various political figures and organizations, including former presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s voters PAC, which shifted its support to Harris. Other notable endorsements for Harris include those from President Biden, former Presidents Bill and Hillary Clinton, and several senators and governors. The endorsements highlight a significant consolidation of support behind Harris within the Democratic Party.

I cannot believe Cackling Harris, the Queen of the Head Job, can make much if any political headways in middle America. The old Sniffer could, which is why he was anointed back in 2020.

This doesn’t mean I think Trump/Vance will win. Whilst I hope they win, such is the Demonrat Industrial Cheating complex that it’s very possible the Demonrats can cheat their way to electoral victory.

M0nty: “Harris endorsements are rolling out faster than they can be tweeted.”

Of course – she out-smarted herself this time.
Now the Dem candidacy is a poison pill, all the other Dems who want to be prez can say “I support Kamala!” and avoid being a losing candidate and therefore unlikely to be selected again.
The presidency is pretty much already gone now and they all know it.
So now, Kamala’s “advantage” of being the “next in line” is a disadvantage but she can’t really avoid it and come back at a later date like the others can.
The real question is: how many house and senate candidates will want someone else – anyone else! – to help bolster their own chances, and will the DNC force any change? I doubt they can manage it, given the kerfuffle if they ousted the cackler-in-chief, together with other potential candidates now refusing to play.

Ungrit your teeth and unclench your sphincters, people: Rachel Madcow is on the case!

She has discovered that JD Vance co-founded a company called Narya, a name chosen from The Lord of the Rings – that well known haunt of the ‘far right’.

Take the name, Narya. It is something to do with elves, right? But what else do you notice? If you take the initial ‘N’ and move it to the end of the word you get ‘Aryan’.

Let us forget for the moment that Tolkien was a philologist and invented who languages with their own rules because he would instinctively expect a connection between languages, histories, and cultures. Nah, he was looking for ways to sneak in words like ‘Aryan’.

Let us also forget Tolkien’s famous correspondence with Goebbels where he denounces the bigotry and racism of the Nazi regime.

Nup. The Madcow has found JF Vance out.

Hmph. He probably thought he would get away with it too, but no one gets past MSNPC.
