The matter of pardons has been covered here and I forgot who mentioned it.
Bunter can’t be granted a catch-all Alex Acosta/Jeffrey Epstein style immunity, circa 2008.
He can only be given a Presidential pardon for convictions already on the books. So, the tell will be when Bunter’s lawyers start applying for expedited hearings, and proposing fairly reasonable plea deals, knowing daddy is going to scrub each one.
Not a death threat, but it would be funny if Bunter lodges a plea deal to do, say, three years, and Dementia Joe buys the farm at the very minute the conviction papers are being stamped.
In any case, I am sure the very untidy Bunter has a trail of skeletons behind him that a competent prosecutor will be able to slam dunk him on even if daddy signs him out on the current stuff.

Kamala Harris Is Still a Dangerous Authoritarian
By DAN MCLAUGHLIN
July 22, 2024 6:17 PM
We should not write off the menace of a Kamala Harris presidency simply because she has proven herself shallow and inept as a vice president.
Which Kamala Harris will run for president? We’ve seen two different versions of Harris. It would be premature to dismiss either, but we also should not let one obscure the risk of the other.
On the one hand, there’s the Harris we saw as California attorney general, a senator, and a presidential candidate. That Harris was a dangerous authoritarian with an unlimited appetite for power who displayed contempt for the Constitution and no regard for the rights, dignity, faith, or reputations of anyone in her way.
On the other hand, there’s the Harris we have seen as vice president: bluntly, an idiot. ThatHarris is a figure of fun and hardly seems in danger of accomplishing anything. She’s been endlessly compared to the Julia Louis-Dreyfus character on Veep, with her speeches full of empty cliches and time-filling blather. She has hemorrhagedstaff. The Biden White House never assigns her anything but hopelessly lost causes and impossible tasks while endlesslyleaking about the low regard in which she is held.
These two pictures are not necessarily inconsistent. Power hunger is not limited to the smart, the competent, or the eloquent. Incompetence is not limited to the meek. Disregard for America’s Constitution, laws, and basic civics can proceed as much from ignorance as from malice. Harris, raised in the progressive hothouse of the San Francisco Bay Area, is reflexive rather than considered because she has never really had to engage with opposing ideas, win the support of people who disagree with her, or pay a political price for disregarding their rights. The Threat to the Courts
My most specific fear of Harris from the early days of her presidential bid has been her support for adding to the number of justices to pack the Supreme Court. I have previouslydiscussed at length why Court-packing for the purely ideological/partisan purposes of changing the Court’s decisions is the single gravest threat to our constitutional system among anything done or proposed in American politics over the past decade. It is a crossing of the Rubicon that would, in a single stroke, destroy the Supreme Court as a guardian of the rule of written law, reducing it to a banana-republic appendage of whoever happened to be in power at any particular time.
The instinct of Harris and other progressives in this direction has thus far been restrained by three factors. One is the Democrats’ tenuous majority in the Senate, which includes two institutionalists unwilling to break the filibuster to impose radical systemic change. Both (Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema) are retiring, and Sinema may be replaced by an arch-progressive. The second is Republican control of the House, which presently hangs by a thread. The third is the last remnants of Biden’s own sense of institutionalism, which has crumbled time and again when pressed by his party’s radicals. In 2020, after Biden criticized Court-packing during the primaries, he and Harris both refused to commit themselves on the issue in the fall. They got away with this, although the issue played badly for Democrats in multiple Senate races. That’s why the progressives have worked so hard in the interim on creating a smoke screen of “ethics” complaints in order to lay the groundwork for claiming that they are saving rather than trashing the judiciary. The end goal, however, is the same.
Just last weekend, Biden caved further and told the Congressional Progressive Caucus that he was about to roll out a plan aimed at “limiting the Court” that appears to entail removing some of its current members in order to change its decisions. It remains to be seen whether Harris pushes the same plan, or even a more radical one — and, in either event, what the details are. But her past advocacy for this step is, by itself, absolutely disqualifying in an American presidential candidate. It marks her as an enemy of the rule of law and of our Constitution. The Heavy Hand
Court-packing is hardly the only way in which Harris is not only terrible on just about every public-policy issue under the sun but also dangerously authoritarian and contemptuous of the essential norms that have allowed our system of constitutional democracy to survive this long. There is no question that Harris is inclined to use every lever of power available to circumvent Congress and bring the machinery of government down on anyone who stands in the way of her agenda. A sample:
Harris pledged to issue a gun ban by presidential executive fiat; when Biden objected that the Constitution might be an obstacle to that, she laughed out loud at the idea of the Constitution as an obstacle.
In 2017, Harris opposed Justice Neil Gorsuch’s confirmation on the grounds that he was too concerned with the law to serve on the Supreme Court, sayingthat he “valued legalisms over real lives.”
As California attorney general, Harris used her office’s criminal-enforcement powers to go after David Daleiden for exposing Planned Parenthood’s involvement in illegal fetal-tissue trafficking, including raiding his apartment. Then, working hand in glove with Planned Parenthood, she lobbied for the legislature to empower her successor to prosecute Daleiden for undercover journalism. Many of Harris’s charges against Daleiden were later thrown out in court. This is a blatant assault on free speech and a free press. Long after Harris left California, Daleiden is still fighting the legal assault against him.
Harris also weaponized her office as California attorney general to pursue Americans for Prosperity and other groups over their dissent from left-wing climate orthodoxy. Harris’s effort to force nonprofits to disclose their donor lists was later found to violate the First Amendment, but not before a court found that Harris’s office “systematically failed to maintain the confidentiality” of those records. Of course, intimidating the donors out of giving was the point. Her position was so extreme, and so favorable to foreign tyrants such as Xi Jinping, that it was denounced by a massive cross-ideological spectrum of amicus groups including the Biden administration itself and resulted in a Supreme Court rebuke that specifically cited the misconduct of Harris’s office. Liberals were appalled at how badly the case went.
Harris ran on rewriting immigration law by presidential executive fiat, a platform David French aptly characterized at the time as “Why run for president when you can run for queen?” Of course, the Biden m.o. of trying to rule by executive order would only accelerate with Harris as president.
Harris pledged another executive fiat on prescription drugs: “I’ll give Congress 100 days to send legislation to my desk to stop Big Pharma from raking in massive profits at the expense of Americans. If Congress won’t act, I will.”
Harris demanded, with no basis whatsoever in the Constitution, that states be required to “pre-clear” changes to their abortion laws through the federal executive branch.
Harris has publicly embraced on multiple occasions “my dear friend” Al Sharpton, the most toxic figure in American political life, responsible for inciting murder, riot, arson, and antisemitic pogroms, leading a hoax rape accusation against innocent men, and tax evasion, among other things.
During the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, Harris ran with the most scurrilous smears against him, reading into the Congressional Record the ludicrous and since-discredited gang-rape charge peddled by Michael Avenatti. Harris tried to get Kavanaugh impeached from the D.C. Circuit. Truth was beside the point; Kavanaugh was in the way.
Remember when people professed to be shocked by “lock her up” because Americans aren’t supposed to advocate jailing their political opponents? Harris said during her campaign that she would have “no choice” but to criminally prosecute Trump if elected.
Harris frequently defended her hard-line stances as attorney general by claiming that she was bound to defend the law, but she refused to defend the popularly enacted Proposition 8 (barring same-sex marriage) in court.
Similarly, when political violence erupts on her own side, Harris plays a different tune. During the George Floyd riots, she supported a fund to bail out rioters, making it more difficult for order to be restored and exacerbating the violence, the thwarting of government business, and destruction of property of innocent people.
The overall picture of Harris’s record is one that ought to alarm anyone who believes in limited constitutional government and individual liberty. As David Harsanyi concluded: “There is no power Harris has held that she hasn’t abused.” The fact that much of this passes for mainstream thought in her party makes this worse, not better. Our system has a strong immune system against threats of the sort that Donald Trump has presented; it has a very weak immune system against threats of the sort Harris presents. Virtually every abuse of power she champions would have a battery of institutions — the press, the academy, the bar — lining up to support her.
This is before we even address ways in which Harris is dangerous in more irresponsible ways. For example, during the 2020 vice-presidential debate, Harris baselessly raised alarms about the safety of Covid vaccines solely on the grounds that they had been developed under the Trump administration: “If Donald Trump tells us to take it, I’m not taking it.” She’s also been a supporter of race-based reparations, a deeply illiberal idea. Veep Veep
Harris has spent most of the past four years as vice president serving up word salads and doing other dead-end ceremonial jobs, so she has had far fewer opportunities to add to her rap sheet of dangerous statements and positions. But the signs are still there. In 2022, she claimed that America does not have “free and fair elections” and hired a communications director who had recently claimed that the 2000 election was stolen. At one point, she floated using executive orders to unilaterally take over state elections.
On political prosecutions, Harris has remained consistent in office as vice president. She constantly touts the abusive criminal charges against Donald Trump; as to Alvin Bragg’s case premised upon the theory that Trump stole the 2016 election, Harris crowed of the verdict, “cheaters don’t like getting caught and being held accountable.” Meanwhile, she blasted special counsel Robert Hur (inaccurately, as we all now know) for his description of Biden’s memory issues: “The way that the president’s demeanor in that report was characterized could not be more wrong on the facts and clearly politically motivated.”
Harris has also signaled her support for pro-Hamas protesters “who have mobilized against the destruction of Gaza. . . . They are showing exactly what the human emotion should be, as a response to Gaza.” As Noah Rothman details, Harris is seen by the radicals as an ally.
Kamala Harris is a menace to the American system. Her advancement to the presidency would be a terrifying prospect for liberty and law.

Pro-Palestine activists claim Curtin University banned display of ‘from the river to the sea’ slogan on campus
Pro-Palestine student activists who set up a protest camp at Curtin University claim they have been sent “intimidating” emails threatening them with disciplinary action if they display the political slogan “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”.
Members of Students for Palestine WA who organised the encampment in May said they had received emails warning them the slogan was banned from campus because of its “potential to be offensive and to cause distress to members of the university community”.
They were also reportedly told putting up posters outside of approved notice boards was not allowed, that they must not harass people, and that they were on notice that breaking such by-laws may lead to student discipline.
Curtin’s email to activists referred to a banner bearing the slogan “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” alongside the university’s name.
“The university does not endorse the actions of Students for Palestine WA or the statements being made on the banner and does not give you permission to use our name in this context,” it said. “Display of the banner (or any publication, poster or leaflet which includes the phrase …) is not permitted on university lands.”
Student activist Ella Marchionda claimed the emails were a “blatant attack on free speech clearly directed at Palestine activists who were involved in last semester’s Gaza encampment”.
While the phrase “from the river to the sea” is widely considered to be anti-semitic, Ms Marchionda said it was used by supporters of Palestine to call for equality and an end to apartheid and repression across the region of historic Palestine.
“So it is an outrage that the university is banning its use,” she said.

No fair, this process is wrong! (cry more)
She doesn’t have support of the party! (she really does, most importantly she has a majority of delegates so end of discussion)
Biden hasn’t endorsed her yet! (he has a history of waiting until very late in the process)

I’m not sure the Liars have ever held a vote without knowing the result beforehand. In the 80s I remember being held on the Tom Price footy oval for days until Hawkey arrived and we could go back to work. Think I might have gone to Onslow for a few days.
If Harris polls even worse than Biden how does that help down ballot races?
I think that is very likely and so someone like Michelle gets the guernsey a month before the election. No time to expose her “lack” of experience, shallowness, or manhood. We all know that Obama is the shadow puppeteer behind Biden.
If that fails the “scary” scenario [yes tinfoil hat conspiracy dreaming] is that they will simply shoot Kamala before the election and – if George Floyd BLM riots are a guide – the country will melt down, it will be too unsafe for elections to be held and the powers that be will “appoint” (not Trump coz unity and building bridges) an establishment business as usual Prez.

Greens call for Anthony Albanese to take more refugees from GazaJoe Kelly
5 minutes ago
0 comments The Greens have attacked Labor for doing too little to bring Palestinians to Australia amid the Middle East conflict and dismissed as “dog whistling” the concerns about whether those fleeing the war-torn territory might pose security risks. The minor party is pushing for an increase in the size of the humanitarian intake – set at 20,000 refugee and humanitarian visas a year – and has rejected the link between the housing crisis and the post-Covid migration boom.
As part of a series exploring the Greens’ policy platform, the minor party’s immigration spokesman, David Shoebridge, told The Australian that there was “no question that the Albanese government has failed to meet the moment when it comes to accepting people fleeing the genocide in Gaza”.
“Barely 2000 Palestinians have been able to find temporary refuge in Australia from that appalling genocide. Australia should and must do better,” he said.
“And that includes (a) revised humanitarian intake and a clear humanitarian visa pathway.
“I don’t think anyone could look at the level of destruction that we’ve seen in Gaza and think that Australia’s response is in any way adequate.”
Senator Shoebridge also took aim at the Coalition for raising concerns about whether those granted visas to come to Australia from Gaza and the West Bank had been subjected to property security checks.
“There’s appalling dog whistling from the Coalition, acquainting anyone who is Palestinian as a security risk,” he said.
“It’s not a worthy response from a party that is posturing to be the alternative government.”
Officials from the Department of Home Affairs told a parliamentary committee at the end of May that 2686 visas had been granted to Palestinians since the October 7 massacre, while there had been a total of 1044 arrivals.

I’m not going to underestimate Harris, it’s perfectly possible that the cackling and inane comments is studied behaviour to encourage underestimation.
Her family background suggests a level of intelligence.
I’ve also seen African Americans reject her claims to be ‘black’.
Unlike Obama who grew up middle class white but who married someone with a genuine African American background Harris with a Jamaican and Indian background has never experienced ‘what it’s like’ and she married a white man.

Yes, but a contingent election occurs after the election is held and there is no candidate with a constitutionally prescribed majority.

Don’t you think the term ‘word salad’ for a Kamala speech is insulting to actual salad? That is at least nourishing food, especially if fortified with appropriate protein supplements, like steak.
The only reason you shouldn’t underestimate Kamal Toe is because of the cheat margin otherwise she would be dead in the water.
Look, she went to Howard University for her law degree which is where rich blacks send their kids unable to even make it through to an ivy league with a racial quota tailwind. Comrade Montgomery,
Could you nominate nine numbers you think will not be drawn in this coming Saturdays’ Tattslotto superdraw?
What if the Trump campaign suddenly pivoted, and targeted the Demoncratic machine, rather than Kamala herself? Such a move would surely blunt the Demons’ main message, which is ‘We’re NOT Trump.’ What if the Republicans took this further and empathised with Kamala? Think about this for a moment, and consider the intent behind the tactic.

Can you imagine the parallel universe where Killary won in 2016, replaced RPG on SCOTUS, won a second term and maybe ended up with a 6-3 feral left court.
Along comes Trump with another tilt in 2024 and says, “I think 15 judges is a good number”.
FMD.
The purple hairs would go off.
My perfect karma scenario is where Trump gets elected and, before the inauguration, a feral left judge is killed after a secret service cock-up. The murderer is a Mexican fentanyl dealer who was re-admitted to the country n 2022 after having his record wiped.
It would be sad.
But Donald would get another pick.
It will be interesting to see if Harris campaigns explicitly on court packing. That must happen to reverse its current descent into fascism.
Presidential immunity is a ridiculous concept in the American context. It is incompatible with the way their system works, balanced with veto powers. If the president has the ability to ignore all vetoes due to his personal immunity, the democratic system doesn’t work any more and they devolve back to a monarchy.
Biden already put up a trial balloon about SCOTUS term limits, without much blowback. I expect a few more tentative stories along those lines now that Harris is in charge.

I remember being in year 10 high school being employed as a dishwasher at a restaraunt. $3 bucks per hour. I would do garlic bread as an aside along with entrees…easy stuff in between stacking the washer.
One particular night, the place was packed with the joint hosting a Night of Opera.
The chefs were flat out getting out all the mains. 160+ people from memory.
Head Chef said start on desserts! I did about 80 servings before the Chefs took over after doing all the mains. Before that happend, one bloke walked into the kitchen and saw it was me. Smiles all round.
Head Chef said my plates were works of art. I just served up and didn’t cook anything. My garnishes were cool.
After that, it was back to a stack high bunch of plates and cutlery for the dishwasher.

Radical preachers and extremist organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir have attacked Australia’s democracy and The Muslim Vote campaign, calling it a “shirk” and an insult to Allah, at sermons in southwest Sydney, the geographical heart of a community-led Muslim political movement.
Abu Ousayd, also known as Wissam Haddad, and Hizb ut-Tahrir’s Australian branch took to pulpits in Sydney’s Canterbury-Bankstown area on Friday to call Muslims in parliament “apostates” and order their followers to boycott elections.
They also criticised the Muslim Vote’s leadership for its historical deradicalisation efforts and current political participation, with Mr Ousayd signalling he wanted an alternative route to power where Muslims could make sharia the dominant form of law in Australia.
“The system is always going to fail if it is not Allah’s,” Mr Ousayd said.
“We want to get to a position where Muslims have power (so that) we can implement more of the (way) in sharia.”
Prominent Hizb ut-Tahrir member Wassim Doureihi told his own audience on Friday that it was “not conspiratorial” to suggest that mainstream leaders who led counter-extremist efforts during the height of ISIS – an effort he criticised – were democracy’s biggest supporters.
At Hizb ut-Tahrir’s headquarters in the electorate of Workplace Relations Minister Tony Burke, Mr Doureihi slammed politicians as “criminals in suits” and called Muslim senator Fatima Payman the “white man’s Orientalist fantasy”.
“(The senator’s) experience has shown us that engaging in the political process is not an option for (the community),” he said, claiming Muslims would be at an “inevitable loss” if they took part.
Hizb ut-Tahrir is recognised as a terrorist organisation in Britain and Germany, although the Albanese government has resisted calls to do the same in Australia.
It comes amid – and stands in contrast to – The Muslim Vote, a community campaign spearheaded by respected Sheik Wesam Charkawi to oust Labor ministers across southwest Sydney and elect pro-Palestine independent candidates.
Senator Payman is not associated with any group or political alliance, including The Muslim Vote, and has previously said she would be an independent voice for Western Australia as a crossbencher after abandoning Labor over Palestine.

Presidential immunity may or may not be essential in the Westminster system, but it is ameliorated by the ability for the democratically elected parliament to remove the prime minister if they lose the confidence of the house with a simple majority. No such guardrail exists for the US system, unless you count the 25th amendment which requires much larger numbers than just a majority.
Introducing presidential immunity to America is highly irresponsible, unconstitutional and dangerous. Packing the court to reverse the decision would be the right thing to do.

Gotta hand it to the ABC to bullshit this hard in an otherwise fairly typical Conservatives Pounce article:
Harris’s big laugh and sometimes quirky statements are also being exploited by Republicans.
That ain’t a big laugh and they aren’t quirky statements; it’s a grating cackle and they’re tedious, monotonous, hackneyed statements.
As she rallied campaign staff in Wilmington, Delaware, in the newly rebranded Kamala HQ, the vice-president gave a taste of what that could look like.
She reflected on how in her role as courtroom prosecutor she “took on perpetrators of all kinds”.
“Predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain,” she said.
“So hear me when I say I know Donald Trump’s type.”
Well, Kamala certainly took on many types to get where she is. In many types of ways. I think we all know her type.
Remember yet another viral moment from the 2020 campaign, when Harris admonished vice-president Mike Pence during a debate, telling him, “I’m speaking”?
President Karen, anyone?
Already, more than $US230 million ($346 million) has been raised for Harris in the first 24 hours, according to her campaign team.
It was the largest single day of campaign fundraising of any candidate in US history.
What’s the bet a very big chunk of this money was “raised for Harris” by simply changing the names of the accounts it is stored in?
Voters were bored with the re-run of the 2020 race.
No-one’s tuning out now.
Why would they? It’s even more of a slow motion trainwreck with Kamala at the top of the ticket.

Tim Ballard – ‘The Sound of Freedom.’
I believe there was some pushback against Tim Ballard, but I’m not aware of the details. In this interview at the Republican NC, however, he states that approximately 200,000 unaccompanied minors crossed the U.S. southern border during the last two years and are now unaccounted for. Underage s£x tourists now don’t have to leave the U.S. to, well, I’m not prepared to even type it. Ballard puts another perspective on the ‘poor immigrants seeking a better life’ narrative.
Democracy took a devastating hit on Sunday when President Biden withdrew from the presidential race. Along the way, he got it wrong. It isn’t Donald Trump who is an existential threat to our democracy. It’s Barack Obama.
In the old-school way of Chicago backroom politics, Mr. Obama was the conductor of the band that successfully orchestrated the removal of the presidential candidate chosen by more than 14 million Democratic primary voters—to be replaced by someone he and the party bosses choose instead. It’s classic ward-boss tactics.
Presidential immunity may or may not be essential in the Westminster system, but it is ameliorated by the ability for the democratically elected parliament to remove the prime minister if they lose the confidence of the house with a simple majority. Excellent article cited by Indolent about female aggression tactics – well worth a read:
Don’t take this to mean that women are not aggressive; they are. Their strategies, however, are frequently more cunning than men’s, and invisible not just to their more guileless victims but even to themselves. They’re masters of the covert psyop. Social exclusion—keeping out people whom the in-group deems deplorable—is a preferred tactic, as described by popular “mean girl” ethnographers like Tina Fey and Rosalind Wiseman, the latter the author of Queen Bees and Wannabes.
and
It’s striking how often the female protesters, whose compassion for Gazans brought them to the fray, divert attention to their own distress. At UCLA, protesters banned bananas because a woman participant claimed a “potentially fatal” banana allergy. When counterprotesters mocked her by waving bananas around, a female supporter compared them to “settlers waving machine guns.” (A fatal allergy to bananas appears almost unknown, and in any case, you would have to eat one to trigger it.) Or look at the TikTok feed of Barnard freshman Marie Adele Grosso. In one posting, she sobs as she recounts the story of her arrest. “Even as a kid, I’ve never hit or harmed an animal or other human in my life,” she says, sniffling and wiping her eyes. “The lack of care on our campuses is abhorrent.” In another clip, she says in her whispery voice, “I very rarely get angry, but I’m furious.” She continues in this vein, as she—and I wish I were making this up—applies concealer, mascara, lipstick, and a finishing spray to her face. Those unfamiliar with TikTok should know that cosmetic tutorials are immensely popular on social media. If creators attract enough followers, companies will send them free samples and perhaps even offer partnership deals. No doubt the Ayatollah would be horrified to have deemed this capitalist decadence on the “right side of history,” even if the makeup aficionado is an anti-Israel ally.
————————————————
In rich Western societies where physical strength and the ability to earn money no longer give men much of an advantage, the rise of female psychological warfare has left the blokes flatfooted.
As a wymminses, I have seen these tactics all my life, and daresay that other Kittehs concur. I think that the Karens are over-reaching, not least because not all women are like this, and many of us detest this bullshit.
But you boys need to understand what you are up against.

Electric bikes are going to become a huge issue. I see teenagers without helmets on the road at dangerous speeds. They are also dangerous on footpaths because of possible collisions with pedestrians. Electric bikes are rapidly replacing bicycles. The latter is good exercise now being displaced by something dangerous and little better than being sedentary.

Impeachment is impractical, since the Republican Party is now a personality cult who would never help to convict their own leader even if he were guilty of treason, let alone murder.
There was a question from the bench during Trump vs US about this specific scenario, and Trump’s lawyer answered that yes, their theory was that SCOTUS should give the president immunity for such an act. And so the court ruled.

GHOST RIDER | WHO IS JUNIOR? “THE CRAZY CART RIDE”
Vetoes are a power wielded by the president, not something used against him.
As usual, Zatara, you have NFI.
Under the American system, veto powers also accrue to the Senate and the House as wholes when they decide to send bills to committee instead of voting on them, and individual Congresspeople when they filibuster a bill. Partisan traditions like the Hastert Rule are also vetoes.
SCOTUS has now swept that all away. Presidents can do what they like. The executive can now ignore Congress and its laws entirely because there is no way to impeach the President, due to partisan polarisation, and there is no other remaining legal mechanism.
db and others may protest that there are still guardrails but… no, there aren’t. Not for Trump, at least. If elected, he would have enough votes in Congress to prevent impeachment no matter if he sold out the country to Putin for a handful of beans.
I don’t know if Harris has the guts to do it, but if she did reform SCOTUS it would be good for America and the world.
Still, if anyone thinks that presidential immunity encompasses murdering a rival, they are probably not a serious person.
Actually, a president does have immunity in murdering a rival. Perhaps not a domestic political rival. Trump gave the go ahead to kill the Iranian thug.
And please, you do not get to define who, where or when someone calls out fascism. There is a clear definition for what fascism is.
I became more sensible when two friends were killed and a nurse told me that if you want to meet motorcyclists go to the paraplegic ward.
Went to see the Doctor (lady GP) more than a few years ago and somehow the subject of motorbikes came up:
‘I was never allowed to own a motor bike.’
‘Me Mum: ‘You are not having a motor bike, you will kill yourself.’
‘Left school, started work and lived with my Grandparents.’ ‘Me Gran: ‘You are not having a motor bike, you will kill yourself.’
‘Joined the Army, thought about a motor bike, ended up getting married.’ Still thinking about a bike.’
‘Mrs Beertruk ;’You are not getting a motor bike, you will kill yourself.’
GP:
‘Yes…my husband is not allowed to have one either and he will never have one.’
‘I call them ‘mobile organ donors and/or temporary Australians.’
So, to get the motor bike ‘thang’ out of my system:
Sister and Brother in Law owned about 4,500 acres on the Tenterfield side of Bonshaw so I would ride the farm bikes or the four wheelers helping him round up annd move sheep and cattle. And ride the four wheeler down to the Dumaresq River to go fishing. Caught some bloody good Murray Cod out of it over the years. Fun times.

Of course he had to catch his food or die starving, Usain Bolt does it for fun and money.
Still very impressive
—————————
IF you think Usain Bolt is a fast runner, consider an Aboriginal man who was chasing kangaroos or waterbirds barefoot on a lake’s edge in south-western NSW about 20,000 years ago.
Footprints he left in the mud reveal he was sprinting at 37 kilometres an hour, and still accelerating.
While this is less than the 42 kilometre an hour peak that Bolt, now the world’s fastest man, reaches in his 100-metre race, the Jamaican has the advantage of spiked shoes, a special track, a strict training regime, and money and glory to spur him on.
Bolt was also selected from a pool of the millions of men alive today, says Peter McAllister, author of a new book,”Manthropology, the Science of the Inadequate Modern Male”.
Yet the ancient NSW athlete was one of only about 150,000 Aboriginal men on the continent then, and running on soft mud, so ‘‘it seems likely there were many prehistoric Australian males who could, if they trained, have regularly clocked 45 kilometres per hour and taken out every Olympic sprint in which they competed’’, he says.
The Australian palaeoanthropologist is out to ‘‘puncture some pretensions’’ and make the case that all is not well with modern males, that ‘‘as a class we are, in fact, the sorriest cohort of masculine “Homo sapiens” to ever walk the planet.’’

One day Leo Tolstoy was standing on the platform of the Tula station when a courier train stopped there.
A gentleman jumps out of the first class carriage and hurriedly runs to the buffet. Following him, a lady appears on the platform of the carriage and shouts after him: “George! George!” George, sensing the buffet, hears nothing.
“Old man, would you please run and bring back that gentleman over there…” the lady turns to Tolstoy. “I’ll give you a penny…”
Tolstoy goes to buffet, returns George to the lady and receives a penny. At that moment the bystanders on the platform suddenly whispered: “Look: Tolstoy!”
The lady became extremely interested: “Where? Where?”. They point her to the old man. She instantly jumps to the platform and approaches him: “Count, for God’s sake, forgive me! I’m so ashamed…” Then she asks to return the penny.
“Well, no, I won’t give up a penny…” Tolstoy laughed. “This may be the only penny I honestly earned…”
Then the third bell rings, and the completely embarrassed lady hastily disappears into the carriage.

TRUMP II A SLAM DUNK, ACTION PACKED HIT OF A SEQUEL
VINCE – SORRENTI 24 Jul 2024
What a blockbuster!
Rarely can we say that a sequel is as good as the original but fans worldwide are voting with their eyeballs.
It’s the number one ticket on every news bulletin around the planet and has every other storyline battling for distant second place. The Trump franchise has scored a slam dunk.
The 2016 surprise hit Make America Great Again took the world by storm. What an outrageous storyline! A billionaire developer/reality TV star, decides to run for President of the United States.
He has a chequered history, a blustering style and little support from his party. He takes on a Democrat candidate who is a former First Lady and a shoo-in for the presidency.
The central character is a brilliant construction. He is a street-smart egomaniac with a comb-over hairdo who is more entertainer than politician. Catchcries at mass rallies like “Build A Wall” and “America First” are seen as a joke by some and a rallying call by others. He slices and dices his way through the primaries, becomes the Republican nominee and stuns the world by winning key states in the 2016 election to become President. It was a hell of a ride and a rollicking show.
As with so many franchises however, the sequel was a let-down.
2020’s Stolen saw Trump return as the central character who after four years of presidency appears jaded.
His media enemies are determined to undermine him.
He chops and changes his inner circle to deflect responsibility and a global pandemic exposes weaknesses in his decision-making. Still with the fanatical support of his base he mounts a robust campaign for re-election against an ageing journeyman in Joe Biden, only to narrowly lose.
The closing scenes, where an angry mob storms the Capital after Trump declares the election fraudulent, left a bitter taste in the mouths of audiences universally. This was the “Luke, I’m your father” moment.
Would the franchise recover?
Absolutely, 2024’s Bullet For Democracy has it all. Trump is back to his rambunctious best as the outsider against a hilariously ageing Biden who stumbles up stairs, forgets names, and gibbers nonsensically through a debate (Chauncy Gardner eat your heart out!). The producers have pulled out all the stops with Trump not only surviving a criminal felony charge but an assassination attempt. In true melodramatic form the former President survives with just a flesh wound before crying: “I took a bullet for democracy” at the Republican Convention.
This is entertainment gold.
There’s a cameo from Hollywood A-lister George Clooney before a new character takes centre stage, Kamala Harris. The guffawing new Democratic candidate throws a spanner into the campaign with an ending you WILL NOT BELIEVE.
Pass the popcorn, because this is entertainment gold.

Senator Linda Reynolds wants Brittany Higgins to pay the cost of her medical bills, claiming the “intense questioning” she faced in the wake of allegations her former staffer was raped in Parliament House exacerbated a previously undiagnosed cardiac condition.
The Western Australian Senator has claimed in documents filed in her defamation case against Ms Higgins and her husband David Sharaz that Ms Higgins’ actions were the catalyst for the condition worsening and causing her to end up in hospital.

In documents released by the WA Supreme Court, Senator Reynolds amended her statement of claim against her former staffer to allege she had suffered physical and mental harm as a result of Ms Higgins’ actions.

Senator Reynolds claims in the court documents these events led to her suffering “severe anxiety and severe heart pains” before she was hospitalised on February 23, 2021.

The polls are already pumping up for Harris.
As Sean Spicer warned on Bolt last night, the Trump campaign must not get too cocky. And Trump needs to apply a bit of discipline, just as he did during the debate.
To win, every Republican voter needs to turn out, as well as remain vigilant at the booths.
In We Used To Be A Proper Country news, Aboriginal re-naming is coming to the Margaret River Region- aka Shire of Augusta-Margaret River plus the City Of Busselton (itself once more logically known as the Shire Of Busselton, also provisionally known as the Cape Naturaliste region and for a few giddy months Cape City)- and that two-shire portman toe has been known as the Cape To Cape Region, but’s that’s in the forgettery now.
It’s a dual renaming, which means lotsa signwriter work to change the Margaret River Library to Nala Brainy Mia, “Our Learning Home” (Margaret River Regional Library and Yarning Hub), change the theatre to Nala JabberJabber Mia “Our Yarning Home” (Disney Films on High Rotation, occasional wildlife crisis piece).
The whole joint will be renamed Wadandi Boodja, verbatim Aboriginal Tribe Country. The tribe/tribes/armed standoff family groups were once the Nyoongar- which got dropped when it was realised that calling a group of people “People”, which then dug through the history books to promote “Bibblemen” until it was realised “We don’t chuck spears and pray for food anymore, we’re Bible Men” was not the Yarn they were looking for, which was briefly the Andalap People, Anda being a fierce warrior ancestor of these er calm and peaceful demigods. Wadandi was for a long time Wardandi, until it became apparent that it might have been cadged from the concept of Wardens.
The reader might realize that all of these neologisms are constructed in English grammar, ie person-gerund-noun, and specific-general- the fact that English is almost globally unique in this grammar, just about every other language will speak general then specific, is totally a coincidental coincidence… which is miraculously recurring in all 350 native languages…
Margaret River was always going to be a sucker for this swindle. Well, since the 70’s anyway, when some wankers thought “hey land is cheap and it’s a flat run to the city/wheatbelt” and the cows started disappearing.

In documents released by the WA Supreme Court, Senator Reynolds amended her statement of claim against her former staffer to allege she had suffered physical and mental harm as a result of Ms Higgins’ actions.
Absolutely beautiful. Mastery of the art of the extended middle finger. The Power Exuders still think that running carefully crafted sob stories – which, incidentally, no-one is buying – on X-Twatter is the way to win a court case. The “I’ll have to sell the Chateau” cri du coeur was meant to beat Reynolds into submission. Instead she drops a few more bills on the doormat. Cop that. It would be simply magnificent if Reynolds wins and repeats the phrase “lying cow” (which ScoMo made her recant) on the steps of the court.

I think Cheatle turned up to yesterday’s hearing confident that she could just stonewall and her interlocutors would divide on party lines.
The media narrative would then be about the misogyny of redneck Republicans.
The fact that Dimocrats laced up the steel capped boots and gave her a kicking as well must have come as something of a surprise. Not as big a surprise as having your ear shot off, but a surprise nonetheless.
One of the best questions to illustrate the f-ck you stonewalling tactic was when she was asked if there were USSS personnel on the roof used by Crooks to fire the shots. Something everyone who has watched the footage knows the answer to.
She couldn’t say and took it on notice.
It would be simply magnificent if Reynolds wins and repeats the phrase “lying cow” (which ScoMo made her recant) on the steps of the court.
Which reminds me, a lot of this steaming pile dog shit which has become a volcanic steaming pile of dog shit was caused by Scumbag’s ineptness and lily-livered cowardice.

Why did the Dimocrats give Cheatle a belting in the Congressional hearing, when they would normally defend the indefensible for a party hack?
Firstly, I suspect some of the older hands have noticed a perceptible drop in USSS competence, which puts them at risk.
Secondly, they know Cheatle is a Dr Jill sponsor child. This is a f-ck you to the Dowager on her way out the door.

Secret Service advises Trump not to hold large outdoor rallies – reportHi, this is Helen Sullivan taking over the Guardian’s live US politics coverage.
The Washington Post is reporting that the Secret Service has “encouraged” Trump to stop holding large outdoor rallies or other large events outdoors. Citing unnamed people familiar with the matter, the Washington Post said: “For upcoming events, Trump’s team is scouting indoor venues, such as basketball arenas and other large spaces where thousands of people can fit, people familiar with the request said. The campaign is not currently planning any large outdoor events, a person close to Trump said.”

Needs of the Nation survey: Majority believe we’re a racist countryNatasha Bita

Young Australians are the keenest for an Indigenous treaty following the failure of the voice referendum last year, despite exclusive polling revealing three-quarters of Australians say the country is racist.
The nation remains divided over First Nations recognition, with 39 per cent of Australians wanting the federal government to consider a treaty with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, 38 per cent opposing a treaty and 23 per cent undecided.
Support wanes with age; young Australians are twice as likely as older Australians to back an Indigenous treaty.
In the wake of the voice referendum, an exclusive Needs of the Nation poll for The Australian, by The Growth Distillery, reveals 72 per cent of respondents describe Australians as racist.
The poll of 1042 people shows 17 per cent of people think the word “racist’’ describes Australia a lot, and 55 per cent a little.
Only 24 per cent of people feel “racist” is not a word that describes Australia at all – double the proportion in a similar survey of 1203 people by Newspoll for The Australian’s 50th anniversary in 2014, when 87 per cent of respondents felt that “racist’’ described Australians a lot or a little.
The 2024 polling shows that 57 per cent of 18 to 34-year-olds support a treaty, compared to 39 per cent of 35 to 49-year-olds and just 28 per cent of the over-50s.
Support is highest in remote areas, where 81 per cent of respondents back a treaty, compared to 41 per cent of city residents and 32 per cent of people in regional areas.
Wealthier households are most likely to support a treaty.

She has hemorrhaged staff. The Biden White House never assigns her anything but hopelessly lost causes and impossible tasks while endlessly leaking about the low regard in which she is held.
A sample:

The Greens have attacked Labor for doing too little to bring Palestinians to Australia amid the Middle East conflict and dismissed as “dog whistling” the concerns about whether those fleeing the war-torn territory might pose security risks.

Bwah ha ha ha ha.
They won’t say it out loud, but the Dimocrats would be furious with RPG for hanging on and handing Trump a pick.
Of course, they believed their own polling and thought it was going to be a grand feminist moment, with RPG resigning and handing Killary another lady pick.
But why take the risk of dying on Orange Hitler’s watch?
What is it with Dimocrats hanging on to office by their fungal encrusted fingernails?
It can’t just be the bribes.

‘You Got Alzheimer’s, Dementia?’: Lisa McClain Unsparingly Interrogates Secret Service Director

Zippy the Pinhead reckons natural justice is the President of the United States being authorised by the courts to shoot a rival on Fifth Avenue with full immunity.
You mean like the demorats did with Trump dickless; and had planned to do previously at Mara-Lago.

I’m guessing that Kamala’s massive staff turnover largely comes from that woeful hokey pokey of What Can Be – high right hand, pause and nod – Unburdened By What Has Bin – nodding again, left hand low. Around the fifth recital, I was near suicidal.
Seriously, she’s such a phony. When he serially lied about coal minin’, truck drivin’ and Corn Pop beatin’, Biden hid behind the unsaid dementia and a seriously nasty attack mode. Excellent article cited by Indolent about female aggression tactics – well worth a read:
https://www.city-journal.org/article/the-new-girl-disorder

Thanks. At 3.47 he blasts past a police van. Reminds me of crazier days. Great fun, huge risks. I became more sensible when two friends were killed and a nurse told me that if you want to meet motorcyclists go to the paraplegic ward.
Oh, and I tried to copy and paste from another comment, but it didn’t work.
So here is my attempt to copy a Monty absurdity that seems to be have been swallowed whole by some people here. He said:
Presidential immunity may or may not be essential in the Westminster system
and to my astonishment, nobody challenged him in the main comments (anything said in nested will probably not be read).
Presidents do not exist in the Westminster system. This is at the level of infants’ school in Pol Sci.
Sheesh!
a nurse told me that if you want to meet motorcyclists go to the paraplegic ward.
Yes sadly. Also the special gravel rash section most hospitals seem to acquire.
I wonder what the stats are now in those cities which allow scooters. Here in Budapest they have subscribed to the idea scooters are not pursued for offences, so you see people two up at speed down the middle of the road, mixing it with cars.

‘Left school, started work and lived with my Grandparents.’
‘Me Gran: ‘You are not having a motor bike, you will kill yourself.’
‘Joined the Army, thought about a motor bike, ended up getting married.’
Still thinking about a bike.’
Fun times.
This is art at its best, painting a hand, specially an old one.
True or not?
Who cares.

VINCE – SORRENTI
24 Jul 2024
Four and half stars.

Breaking news that the press doesn’t seem interested in covering:
Seriously. Not a joke. It’s a freaking miracle.
Waiting with bated breath for the wonders of the munted moron’s talking points. The excitement has my heart racing.

Even more repulsive are the lefties on X, coruscating hate and contempt for Senator Reynolds.
Cheatle is a midwit, fully up to date with rainbow flag memes… and carrying coleman coolers full of tickets on herself.
In other words, a perfect patsy.
Will be easily replaced by another NPC. She’s probably asking for a lifelong security detail for herself right now because Online Threats.

And ill pre-emptively deny that this means any further attempt on Trumps life is his own fault…
The Dems turned on Cheatle out of self preservation.
If the US SS did that to Trump, they can do that to them.
