That specifically tells you how much is done in local currencies. 20%
You appear to be very expert in this. Can you please explain how any of those BRICS currencies would be accumulated without convertibility on the free market?
You’re basically peddling a story which is no more than hope and cope.
The last bit is funny. These countries are going to massively sell down their US dollar reserves to buy what exactly – the Iranian Rial? The rubble? The Yuan?
If so, explain how any accumulated reserves could be liquidated without seeking permission?
It’s not the countries that run balance of payments deficits that have to worry. it would those running surpluses. In which BRICS currency are they going to he held? Ethiopia?

Yes I did. I’m just finding it hard to believe that a potential decline in the use of the USD in global trade doesn’t diminish its value somewhat for the reasons outlined. Further, why would countries with surpluses park it in USD if the value of the USD is falling?
Not sure what this will to power thingy is about though.
Well, I’ve watched the Madison Square Garden videos of Trump’s ralley there today and they have been fabulous. He’s on a huge roll.

So you’re changing the subject. Righto,
Since 2020, the assumption behind this idea is that there will be a decline in the use of the dollar. However, I posted an article a few weeks ago indicating that the use of the dollar has actually increased—not decreased.
There was a slight decline in the use of the euro and also a slight dip for the yuan.
Consequently, you’re basically relying on hope and cope.
Don’t walk away from the question I asked you about this. Every single one of the BRICS currencies has a restricted capital account—i.e., a roach motel.
The Europeans had high hopes for the euro, but it didn’t pan out. Now, you’re touting that bald frog idiot who’s eagerly implying the dollar’s downfall. Yet, neither you nor anyone else getting giddy over this has explained how the BRICS nations will manage their reserves.
By the way, there have been times when the dollar was very weak—and yet, here we are, with the dollar still preeminent.
Looking back thread I see I could have stayed on the Cat and picked up a lot of what I’ve seen today.

“It’s not as clear-cut as you think. China has sold about $1 trillion in dollar reserves over the past few years, and it has had a negligible impact on the dollar, the U.S. bond market, and general sentiment toward the U.S. dollar.
It’s one thing to hope the dollar falls off its perch, but it’s also important to be to cope with the likely possibility that it doesn’t.
The dollar will eventually fall away for something else, but not even in my kid’s lifetime.

New Zealand’s indigenous treaty has failed Maori, future deputy PM saysPaul Garvey

The New Zealand minister leading the dismantling of many of the nation’s dedicated Maori initiatives and the restructure of its public service says New Zealand’s 50-year indigenous treaty experiment has failed to deliver better outcomes for the Maori people.
New Zealand Minister for Regulation David Seymour – who in May will become deputy prime minister under the agreement struck last year to form government between Christopher Luxon’s National Party, Winston Peters’ New Zealand First and Mr Seymour’s ACT – told The Australian the greater significance attached to the Treaty of Waitangi since the 1970s had proved “inherently divisive” and had not succeeded in improving the way of life for Maori.
The Treaty of Waitangi, signed in 1840 by British Captain William Hobson and Maori chiefs when the British Crown was establishing colonies in New Zealand, has in recent decades seen Maori perspectives offered greater consideration in a wide array of public policy matters.
But the Luxon government has looked to reverse that trend since coming to power in late 2023. Most notably, it moved to disband the Maori Health Authority, triggering protests across the country as the government was accused of dismantling Maori rights.
Mr Seymour said his government’s efforts were focused on correcting the “inherently divisive” interpretation of principles under the treaty.
“One thing that is clear is that we haven’t made major progress in improving outcomes for Maori by going down that divisive path,” he said.
“Even if you were someone who said, ‘Okay, I don’t like dividing people by race, but I think it might be worth it if it works out’, well, the answer is it hasn’t.”
Mr Seymour’s comments come amid ongoing debate in Australia about a potential Indigenous treaty, with former Greens senator Lidia Thorpe last week calling for a treaty during her protest in front of King Charles. The Uluru Statement from the Heart called for the Indigenous voice to be followed by a treaty, and many Indigenous leaders still want the government to pursue the next stage despite last year’s defeat of the voice referendum.
Mr Seymour said Australia’s rejection of the voice showed Australians intuitively understood the risks of ascribing rights based on race.
“As soon as you say people could have different political rights based on their ancestry, then you go to a very bad place. New Zealand’s been on that path for 50 years,” Mr Seymour said.
“I am, dare I say, the main person who is either brave or stupid enough to try and reverse that.”
Lidia Thorpe was unavailable for comment.

Not at all. I’m wondering how this new system will work prospectively. As to your example of the EU, how does the experience of the EU/ euro have anything to tell us here given the fact that EU trade as a proportion of global trade has declined over those years.
I don’t know. They will park their surpluses in a variety of currencies in and out of BRICS, incl. USD as well as in gold or the like. We are going to find out.
I don’t now if Jacques is bald.
Now can you answer how a potential decline in the use of the USD in global trade doesn’t diminish its value?

Your question is hypothetical, and in my view, it’s unlikely the dollar will lose its standing in the foreseeable future.

Nearly half of teachers reported sexual harassment from boys in class, in a survey of 1012 teachers conducted by Collective Shout, a charity that campaigns against the sexualisation of children and objectification of girls.
Teenage boys in years 9 and 10 were responsible for most of the harmful sexual behaviours, Collective Shout warns in its first report on the sexual harassment of teachers.
Teachers said male students had propositioned them for sex, threatened them with rape, mimicked sex acts, asked for nude photos or sexually moaned, groaned or grunted at them in class.

Oh, but there is. You don’t want to answer, how a potential decline in the use of the USD in global trade doesn’t diminish its value, because it may incriminate your overall argument.

There’s nothing to dodge, as there’s no point in dealing with hypotheticals. India has not fully bought into this thing. That was the point.
That’s just sad. Cheap point scoring is just sad.
Your problem is that you’ve now appear to have shifted to full-blown statism, and it seems the only difference between your views and those on the left is that you believe your version of statism is superior. But, at the end of the day, it’s still statism.
The point you fail to grasp is that America’s capital markets grew organically. Everything—from private equity to the depth of the bond and public equity markets—evolved naturally, even reserve status and the use of the dollar to service trade flows. You seem to believe that a bunch of statists can now create markets and trade blocs that will rival a system developed from the ground up. Hope and cope.

What is the Woke Right?
Summary: In the podcast episode titled “What is the Woke Right?” James Lindsay discusses the emergence of a radical Right-wing movement, which he describes as the “woke right.” He draws parallels between the woke left and this new phenomenon on the right, explaining how both groups claim to have uncovered hidden truths about society that the mainstream narratives obscure. The woke right, according to Lindsay, is a diffuse coalition that contains elements ranging from paleo-conservatism to more extreme factions that harbor dangerous ideologies, including anti-Semitic views and proto-fascist sentiments. He emphasizes the importance of recognizing this movement’s impact on the conservative landscape and cautions against its divisive nature. ### Key Points by Sections: **Introduction** – James Lindsay welcomes listeners and introduces the topic of the “woke right.” – He contrasts the “woke left” with the lesser-known “woke right,” suggesting a need for clear terminology. **Characteristics of the Woke Right** – The ambiguous but present existence of a radical right-wing coalition. – The difficulty in naming such movements, paralleling past debates on the terminology for the left. – The “woke right” engages in revisionist history and skepticism towards mainstream narratives, including American institutions. **Influential Figures and Movements** – Mention of Tucker Carlson as a representative of paleo-conservatism with traditionalist views and skepticism towards Israel and the state apparatus. – The emergence of the “America First” movement under Nick Fuentes, which includes extremist views, anti-Semitism, and historical inaccuracies. – Awareness of a broader range of ideologies among the “woke right,” from paleo-conservatism to proto-fascism. **Philosophical Underpinnings** – Discussion of Carl Schmitt’s ideas, including the “Unbound executive” and “friend-enemy distinction,” which resonate with some factions of the woke right. – Differing views on liberalism, and skepticism towards it as part of their ideological framework. – Analysis of how members of the woke right perceive themselves as having “woke up” to the true nature of society, echoing the sentiments of the woke left. **Critique of Epistemology** – Critique of the epistemological framework among the woke right, leading to a self-serving narrative that claims hidden truths. – Highlighting the parallels between the woke left’s and right’s claims to knowledge and authority over mainstream narratives. – The suggestion that the emphasis on what is hidden from view affects their understanding of truth and validity. **Warning Against Division** – Lindsay warns that the “woke right” is actively infiltrating and fracturing the conservative movement. – Urges vigilance against divisive tactics and ideologies that can undermine the broader conservative cause. – A call to action to recognize and resist this phenomenon before it solidifies further. **Conclusion** – A final warning about the rapid rise of the “woke right” and its potential impact on conservatism and the political landscape. – Encouragement for listeners to be more discerning and courageous in addressing the issues raised. Lindsay emphasizes the urgency of awareness and action against the divisive and radical elements within the conservative movement that he identifies as the woke right.

Please read Brendan O’Neill’s superb piece in today’s Oz as to why banning Candace Owens from this country is a very bad idea.
I think Owens is a moron, a stark raving idiot but banning her? You’ve got to be joking.
Last night I had a dispute with a friend over this. She told me banning Owens was a good thing, I disagreed vehemently for the reasons Brendan writes about in today’s Oz. I told her the Owens ban is just this Jew hating government engaging in selective pieties, a government that has largely remained silent about the explosion in Jew hatred since October 2023.
Despite my explanations, my friend could not understand why the ban is a bad idea, so I asked her the following…..
Firstly, why haven’t the hate clerics in Western Sydney been banned?
Why do those clerics, who’ve said far worse than Owens, remain free to spew their hate and walk the streets that we walk?
Why has the NSWaffen police refused to charge them?
Why haven’t any of them been hauled before our numerous ‘human rights organisation’, organisations that will happily go after any ordinary Australian for suspected speech violations?
I reiterated to her that Owens, for all her faults, for all her idiocies, has never incited violence, she has never said ‘go kill the Jews’, whereas more than one Western Sydney Muslim cleric is on record, is on film, as stating to his followers to go ‘kill the Jews’.
I asked her, why haven’t those who screamed and screeched ‘gas the Jews’, ‘f*ck the Jews’ and ‘where’s the Jews’ on Monday night 9 October 2023 been arrested and charged?
I asked her, why are the Jew hating festivals on our city streets allowed to happen, week after week, where you will hear and see images and words far more offensive and far more dangerous than anything Owens spews?
Why? So many questions and not many answers.
I then said to her, and I think she then began to understand, that this is all cheap politics from a rabid Jew hating government. I asked her ‘who defines ‘far-right’? I told her that many on the left would regard you and me as far-right, they think our speech is extreme and they would happily silence us today.
And finally I said to her, don’t worry, this government will use this Owens ban as a dangerous precedent, and moving forward they will seek to ban those who you and I might want to listen to, men and women who, of course, aren’t morons like Owens but whose speech the left doesn’t like or approve of, such as…..
Douglas Murray
Melanie Phillips
Brendan O’Neill
Gad Saad
Ben Shapiro
Nigel Farage
Ayaan Hirsi Ali
to name just a few.
My friend said, ‘but there’s nothing wrong with those people, to which I responded, ‘of course there’s nothing wrong with them or what they say but that doesn’t matter, they will be banned from entering this country for ‘Islamophobia‘.
Only then did she get the message.
The Owns ban allows Burke to point and say, look what I did! It gives him a fig leaf to cower behind.
Kabuki.
Oh, and it gives Jew hating “fwee speech advocates” another line of hatred – the nassssty Jews made Candace go away.
It’s all a win for Burke and co.

Now with lots of fancy pictures and superlatives, the very same sheets are $120 a set, and that’s across multiple buyers.
So there’s your inflation problem – to me it looks like price fixing and gouging.
No added value, just added price. Like the appliance manufacturers who sold the brand name, closed down production lines and import shit.

The Thin Blue Line: University Professors Are Approaching Near Unanimity As A Democratic Lock (29 Oct)
Increasingly the legal profession is becoming totally captured by the Left. Soon just about all judges will be leftists. And we know that leftist bar associations have been forcing anyone out who has the temerity to represent a righty like Trump, Bannon or Guiliani.
Read this and weep:
A council worker who broke her arm and injured her knee when she tripped over a puppy fence during a coffee break while working from home has won a workers compensation claim.
According to a ruling handed down in the South Australian Employment Tribunal, the City of Charles Sturt employee had erected a temporary 60-centimetre metal pet fence across the doorway to her sunroom, where her home office was set-up, to allow her to babysit a colleague’s puppy while working from home on September 19, 2022.
The fence had been put in place to keep the puppy away from her pet rabbit.
The employee, who was permitted to work from home from time to time with prior notice, tripped and fell when she got up to make a cup of coffee between 9am and 9:30am, after starting work at 8.30am.
She suffered a humerus fracture and injured her right knee when she landed on her right side.
She made the claim against the Local Government Association Workers Compensation Scheme.
No wonder workers’ comp rates are through the roof. This is ridiculous.
If she’d been working at the office there would have been no puppy fence, as it is clearly a trip hazard. For that matter, there would be no puppy either.
It wasn’t even her dog! She volunteered to mind someone else’s dog.
That scheme had better appeal this quick smart, or they will soon be paying for slip and falls in the kitchen where the employee didn’t clean up a floor spill, to pick a random example.
That’s almost as good as the dirty canbra bitch suing the commonwealth for rough sex while away for ‘work’.
Musk’s likely ascendance into government reminds me a lot of Robert McNamara.
Candace used to be a regular on Tucker Carlson’s show, and was reliably conservative. Has she had a head injury?
Of course the current Labor/Green/Teal mob would ban her for being conservative if they had no other peg to hand their marxist hat on.

I’m sorry, your dodging the question because admitting that the value of X would decline typically if there are fewer trades involving X. You can’t admit that without also admitting that if fewer trades are using USD than all things being equal the value of the USD should also diminish.
Its neither cheap nor point scoring. You could have just answered the question and then raised an objection on the grounds that not all things are equal.

Kamala’s campaign is adrift in a sea of trouble, her statements resembling a large floating island of complete rubbish. The straw that they are clinging to is this off-colour joke.
It says a lot about the complicit media that it is getting such a repeated run. They are so disturbed by the success of his rallies to date, particularly the Madison Square Garden one, that they are amplifying a joke into a scandal.

Sort of incredible how people have forgotten that the leading proponent of GW alarmism since the 1980s has been the USG, US MSM, etc. Setting that aside, the principal means by which the US has stuffed Europe has been by setting it against Russia. And since the cheap gas has stopped, German industry has been floundering. The worst of it is that they are so pathetic, politically, they have, over the last decade or more, offered little to no resistance nor sought ways of mitigating the disaster before them.
Two things, firstly, I’m not anti-American, I’m anti-GAE. Secondly, I’m feel no need to disguise my criticisms of US policy in partisan garb. Often, the dumb, impractical, or reprehensible things done by the USG are bipartisan.

It looks straightforward, given that her home was the place where she was working. She was thus injured in the course of her employment. Taking a break for refreshment is accepted as incidental to her job. It doesn’t matter that the work was doing did not contribute it’s simply a temporal relationship.
There might have been a question whether her erecting the fence materially contributed to her injury. Being only careless won’t suffice.
Thus is a consequence of allowing work from home.
—————————————————————————-
AFAIK people working from home have to comply with OHS requirements – employers are supposed to check this before granting permission to WFH.
The puppy fence was a temporary structure presumably only recently erected.
My point above was that neither puppy or fence would be permitted to block a walkway in her office for OHS reasons. Unless her employer approved it, it should be on her.
I was still at school when Time magazine was going on about CO2. Geography Teacher photocopied article for us.
The lies from the demorats are coming thick and fast: I’m waiting for some leftoid to claim Trump is an alien. In the meantime here is whoopi claiming:
Whoopi Goldberg Claims Trump Will Dismantle Interracial Marriages, Redistribute White Spouses
Whoopi won’t have to worry: she is a seriously ugly woman even for a demorat. Only a blind, deaf guy would be married to her.
Olde Germanic proverb…
‘Never put all your eggs in one basket.’
They were warned at the time when they started decommissioning the nuclear reactors, as I recall.
Yep.
The simple way to resolve this is to issue voluminous OHS guidelines to those wishing to work from home.
Get them to sign that they fully understand the requirements and accept that they are the person responsible for maintaining a safe workplace.
Don’t sign up, return to the office.

So what you are saying is awk has better reasoning skills than Elbow, Chris Bowen or Hamarse?
Something I just thought of – if Trump wins, Kamala’s going to have to preside over his certification in Congress. Just like Biden had to in 2016 (although he wasn’t the losing candidate in the election then like, say, Gore was back in 2001). This will have never happened before – the President and VP from the same administration will have both presided over the certification of the same President. From the opposing party. And Trump, no less! She’ll be certifying Hitler, who just beat her. Watching her do that would definitely be worth the price of admission. I wonder if she’ll be able to do it. Maybe she’ll do a Hillary and phone in sick. Perhaps try and get Tampon Tim to do it? Or maybe she’ll just get drunk off her arse and do it. Well, she’d be drunk off her arse anyway – that’s pretty much the default, it seems. Let’s see.

The majority of discussion concerning Trump’s accession relates to the ME and how he will deal with Iran.
Far more consequential will be how he deals with the EU maniacs. The apalling Merkel is no longer there with her smug arrogance, and even if she still controls von der Leyen, both of their world views are increasingly irrelevant to Europeans.
So as Trump unleashes US wealth and the EU continues to implode economically it is arguable that Europeans will no
longer tolerate mandated and expensive anti-Americanism.
Starmer is an accident, not a movement. He is incredibly stupid and will not be able to resist grandstanding by attacking Trump. When Brits realise the extent to which this Stalinist bullshit is damaging their welfare and values, Starmer will be gone.

I have one team member who works from home two days per week. She’s got a lot to juggle being back in the workforce after having kids. And, she’s an absolute star; always kicking goals for the team (despite working early to late with a few breaks for school runs). She comes in on those days if absolutely needed.
Just because your Stocklands, Dexus, Mirvacs, Goodmans and Charter Halls etc… want everyone back in the city so they can push up their rents is not a good enough excuse for me to have to let my best team member go.
(And yes, I’ve dealt with the heads or many of these companies and I know their couldn’t give a shit attitude).
These companies used to wield a lot of power but the world is changing, and choice is a huge driver now. I know two middle Execs in the mining industry who deal with engineers and they’ve said: By letting some of them work from home, they end up working an extra couple of hours a day that would normally be spent in traffic.
Anyway, I couldn’t care less if she, or anyone. decided to work out of their 1.5m x 1.5m dunny, as long as they’re performing.

From The Oz. Fatty Clive is right…
Billionaire Clive Palmer has called for Qantas to abolish its controversial invitation-only Chairman’s Lounge saying it’s a “disgraceful perk used to reward or punish politicians”.
Mr Palmer’s own membership for the Chairman’s Lounge was rescinded in 2014, after he used his Senate power to block a bill seeking to end Qantas’ foreign ownership restrictions.
“At the time Alan Joyce was lobbying all sides of government, looking to sell off Qantas to his Irish private equity mates,” said Mr Palmer.
“Politicians were more interested in a free lunch than the interests of Australians.”
His demands follow fresh controversy about The Chairman’s Lounge in the wake of a new book by journalist Joe Aston.
Mr Palmer said the lounge proved that Australian politicians could be bought cheaply.
“The Chairman’s Lounge was used to reward or punish politicians based on vested interests,” he said.
“If the Qantas chairman is serious about restoring the airline’s reputation, he needs to abolish the Chairman’s Lounge.”
Virgin Australia has its own version of the Chairman’s Lounge, known as Beyond, which is also an invitation only lounge.
I remember how, after Cardinal George Pell wrongful conviction back in 2019, Qantas were very quick to dump him from its Chairman’s Lounge membership.
However in April 2020, when the HC upheld Pell’s appeal, and squashed his conviction 7-0, I fail to recall Qantas rushing to reinstate George Pell’s Chairman’s Lounge membership.
Bowen has come out to defend upgrade Albo. He’s in more trouble than I thought.
There seems to me to be a major difference between the far left and the far right.
A distinction that I have never heard anyone make.
That is: fascist regimes, while as capable of the same extreme depths of atrocity as communism, frequently, eventually self correct.
Whereas the communist regimes are often irreversible without external intervention.
North Korea seems locked in an eternal hell. Communist parties remain in power unopposed in China, Vietnam and the collapse in Eastern Europe was only after tremendous external pressure from the Cold War.
Whereas in Spain the Nationalists did not long outlive Franco.
Same is true in South America.
The fascists seem more like the the dictators from the classical world, temporarily both taking advantage of a situation, and stopping the leftist faction in their tracks for the life of the dictator.
How Woke Culture is Crippling Society with Professor Gad Saad
Summary In the episode “How Woke Culture is Crippling Society,” Jillian Michaels hosts Professor Gad Saad to discuss the impact of “woke culture” and its implications on reason, science, and societal norms. Saad elaborates on his concept of “suicidal empathy,” which critiques the way empathy is often leveraged to overlook objective truths, leading to irrational decision-making and negative societal outcomes. The conversation also touches on pressing issues like gender identity, immigration, and the importance of maintaining a balance between empathy and rationality. — ### Key Points **Introduction and Context** – Gad Saad discusses the consequences of extreme progressive ideology. – The theme of “woke culture” and its impact on society is introduced. – Mention of Saad’s books, particularly “The Parasitic Mind” and the upcoming “Suicidal Empathy.” **The Parasitic Mind** – Saad explains “The Parasitic Mind” and the concept of “ideological brainworms” that distort thinking. – He argues these ideas, which originated in academia, have spread throughout society. – Saad offers “mind vaccines” as tools to combat these distorted ideologies. **War on Reason, Science, and Logic** – Saad states there’s a rising war against reason and logic in society. – He compares ideologies to cancer, arguing they start with noble objectives but deviate into irrational justifications. – Example: Radical feminism’s claim that gender differences are socially constructed. **Consequentialism vs Deontology** – Discussion on the difference between consequentialist ethics (permitting lies for ‘greater good’) and deontological ethics (truth as a foundational principle). – Saad emphasizes the importance of not sacrificing truth, reason, and logic for social objectives. **Emotionally Driven Politics** – Discussion on how politically driven emotions can cloud rational decision-making. – Saad criticizes emotional appeals in politics and the consequences of appointing leaders based on emotion rather than rationale. – He draws parallels with past historical figures and movements that utilized emotional manipulation. **Empathy and Disregulated Emotions** – Saad introduces “suicidal empathy,” which misapplies empathy leading to societal chaos. – Challenges the audience to consider the consequences of prioritizing one group’s rights over others. – He discusses the evolutionary roots of empathy and its role in human social interactions. **Critical Thinking and Political Engagement** – Saad urges listeners to cultivate critical thinking skills and diversify sources of information. – He emphasizes the need to recognize biases in media narratives and political discourse. – The conversation concludes with calls for voters to think critically before making decisions in elections. **Recommendations for Further Reading** – Saad suggests his other books for further insight, particularly “The Consuming Instinct” and “The Sad Truth About Happiness,” while encouraging pre-orders for “Suicidal Empathy.” **Closing Remarks** – Michaels expresses gratitude for Saad’s insights and the importance of addressing current societal issues rationally. – A reminder for listeners to stay informed and engage critically with prevailing cultural narratives.
