Smart thinking, Mr Election-Winning Powerhouse.

As political buffoons go, Chris Bowen is the buffoon’s buffoon.

He should count himself lucky that each time he stands to address the parliament, those opposite don’t break out in gufffawing ridicule.

They should.

The Libs should run an ad with a clip of Bowen saying if you don’t like our policies don’t vote for us. I think he said something like that in 2013 so it must still be easily accessible.

Humbly disagree with my learned fellow motorcats – a Toyota engine should not need heavier weight/“thicker” oil at 120,000 kms.
I suggest Toyota dealers would continue using the recommended oils at double or even triple that mileage.

Wow via Michael Smith, the road may be needed but the optics are horrible and swarmy Chisholm tries to throw it back at Rennick.

The road upgrade to Copacabana Beach had another $100mil allocated, NSW Government if Rennick is right is contributing nothing. Hmmm:

Catch of the Year news (the CM):

A Central Queensland mother of nine has been sentenced after she stole a man’s debit card and went on a spending spree with it.

Be still, my beating heart.

Belinda Jane Gambrill, 41, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court to one count of stealing and five counts of fraud.

The court heard that in May, Gambrill, who had previously been homeless

Where are these nine kids then?

was staying at a man’s house

Oh my lord. Reeks of ‘I believe we can come to some arrangement’.

and on parole

Ah geez.

when she stole his debit card from his wallet.

During a one-day spending spree at various stores, she racked up $105.50 worth of fraudulent purchases with the card including cigarettes, soft drink and scratch-its.

Gambrill had a 10-page criminal history.

Almost one page of criminal history per child.

‘But soft! What light in yonder window breaks? ‘Tis the east, and (Belinda Jane Gambrill) is the Sun. The brightness of her cheek doth shame the stars….’

From an ex car salesmans perspective (dad).

1: Its engine was cooked or buggered at one stage and its sat on blocks for a couple of years before a bodgy repair and sell job…
2: Stolen at some stage and recovered..
3: The odometer has been “black and deckered” backwards a few hundred thousand KM. (not easy to do on most cars now – highly illegal and usually leaves signs a mechanic can pick up)
4: Just a dog of a car.

Thanks FM; we did the govt search and was never stolen in any State nor in any accident.

My gut feel is it was used long distance quite a bit in SA (hence the saltwater damage underneath it which we got them to repair prior to sale) but they doctored the logbook and odo for sure methinks.

Apparently odo tampering is still easy? I see NSW have a register when you sell a car you have to put the odo in (and people can search it) legally. I don’t like big govt but not a bad idea

Chris Uhlmann’s show The Real Cost of Net Zero has been wanted for years, amazing that it had to be done by a lefty.
He is doing what so many haven’t done for the past decade or two. But he is still not telling it like it should be told.
Gas gets a big tick, but everything that gas does used to be done by coal.
If we accept that climate change/global warming is a problem, and that it is caused by CO2 then there may be a need for adjustment of our power generation system. But then it’s not gas but nuclear which is the answer.
There’s plenty of evidence that CO2 isn’t the issue, so we should keep going with coal.

I’m watching Chris Uhlmann’s program on Sky about the renewable power generation and what it is doing to us. The cause is quite simple, it is a vanity project for the rich and well off. In the meantime the poorest and most vulnerable will bear the brunt of the whole project. Once again, it’s all about class. The upper classes are pushing their new religion on the rest of us because they can.

The other thing is the insistence that wind and solar are free and it’s only the infrastructure that costs. Coal and gas are free as well, we own extensive deposits so wind and solar have no cost advantage at all. In fact wind and solar are far more expensive because of their geographical spread that requires far more infrastructure.

“Fighting two tier justice!” Nigel Farage in private prosecution of Manchester Airport cop attackers

ummary In this episode of “Dan Wootton Outspoken,” Nigel Farage and Richard Tice announce a private prosecution against men accused of attacking police officers at Manchester Airport, highlighting concerns over two-tier justice. The discussion revolves around the perceived lack of action from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) regarding the attackers, juxtaposed with rapid responses to other incidents, like arrests during riots. The themes of free speech suppression in the UK, the impact of political pressure on policing, and the public’s fear of expressing dissent are also explored. Rafe Heydel-Mankoo offers insights into these issues, emphasizing the importance of public trust in institutions. ### Key Points #### Announcement of Private Prosecution – **Background**: Farage and Tice’s prosecution relates to a serious attack on police officers at Manchester Airport. – **Incident Severity**: A female officer’s injury included a broken nose. – **Critique of Policing**: The effort is framed as a response to “two-tier policing” that has allegedly ignored this violent incident compared to prompt actions taken in other situations. #### Discussion on Two-Tier Justice – **Public Interest**: The speakers argue the case represents a significant public interest, meriting action when the CPS appears to be inactive. – **Political Pressure**: Rafe discusses how political motivations can lead to the judicial process moving at different speeds based on public sentiment, contrasting recent events with the Manchester attack. #### Free Speech and Political Climate – **Fear of Speaking Out**: There is a prevailing atmosphere of fear discouraging individuals, including journalists, from freely expressing opinions. – **Critique of Current Policies**: Discussion highlights how mass immigration and multiculturalism may be tied to a suppression of free speech. – **Systemic Issues**: Concerns are raised about a potential shift towards an authoritarian regime in the UK, impacting societal freedoms. #### Example Cases of Suppression – **Personal Accounts**: Instances are shared about how individuals have faced police action over their social media activity, illustrating a chilling effect on free speech. – **Cultural Commentary**: Participants reflect on how commentary about public figures can lead to harassment or even legal action. #### Broader Implications – **Societal Divide**: The conversation emphasizes growing divisions within society, particularly concerning the freedom to express varied opinions. – **Support for Mark Stein**: The segment concludes with an update on fundraising efforts for Mark Stein, reflecting community support against perceived state censorship and control. This episode underscores significant issues regarding justice, political accountability, and the state of free expression in contemporary Britain, signifying deep concerns among its commentators.

Which is basically doing nothing special.

So unlike the Egyptian pyramid builders the mark one eyeballs of all the plebs are going to undermine the climate religion fairly quickly. There are signs this is happening already.

But as with Akhenaten’s priests the climate druids aren’t going to go away without a fight.

Muslims face ‘bleak and dystopian’ climate in UK, says head of thinktank

Islamophobia has become “brutally divisive” in the UK and failure to challenge its root causes will lead to more racist riots, the head of the UK’s leading race equality thinktank has said.

Shabna Begum, who became the chief executive of the Runnymede Trust earlier this year, said the country was entering a new phase in how it talks about Muslims.

She added: “Politicians are engaging in a popularity contest and that popularity contest is measured by how far they are willing to bully and demonise Muslims. And that has become not just an acceptable kind of currency, but a way in which to earn your political stripes.”

Hard to know where this division has come from.

The other 64 million Brits apparently don’t face a bleak and dystopian future thanks to the 4 million Muslims owning the agenda and requiring Islam be fully respected by all Kaffirs.

Surrender now.

Hey Cats

a technical, car, legal (?) question…

We bought a 2017 Toyota Tarago in November 2021 for over $35K. It had 71,000 kms on it when we bought it. It now has 121,855 after three years; so, we’ve done about 50,000km in 3 years.

If it’s the 2.4 litre four cylinder the earlier ones needed the rings and pistons replaced, but as yours is the later model, 2017 should be past that time frame. Those cars should have been fixed by Toyota under recall, from memory.
If it’s the V6, those engines are bullet proof, except for an oil pipe at the back and an oil cooler hose at the front that can give way suddenly at around 170,000 Km and will leave you with a large puddle of oil under the car in some Toyota models.
All of which should again have been done under recall.
Check at the local Toyota dealer for any outstanding recalls on your vehicle. Can be done over the phone.
Otherwise ensure that the correct weight of oil is being used for Australia.
In North America they use the zero weight oil, which would exacerbate oil consumption in the warmer season.
Don’t go for a very heavier weight oil in order to try to fix the issue as you will not be getting oil through the galleries on start up and cause more problems. Use the heaviest grade that the car’s instruction manuel list for Australia, at the temperature range you are driving,
Oil consumption is caused by rings, piston and bore wear or a design/ manufacturing fault (in the case of the earlier cars).
Take advice from someone more informed of the legalities than me, but Toyota is generally much better than most manufacturers at fixing shit.
Stick with Toyota they are still the best manufacturer.

Since 2007, the European Union (EU) has donated over 19.7 billion euros to support programs, projects, and development goals connected to the Palestinians. Doctors worry about RFK Jr’s anti-Ozempic stance (and many of his other views)

People choose to eat junk food, not exercise, and rely on drugs to solve their problems. What he doesn’t understand is that for some people once they become obese there are changes at the cellular level which means they may never lose enough weight. That is one bariatric surgery works better than diet and now Ozempic is becoming very popular.

You said it was very unlikely that Israel had hit Iranian nuclear facilities. Bibi has begged to differ.

The decision to allow missiles to strike deep inside Russia is a response to North Korean troops being used as human waves.

Biden and Trump would have discussed this. It is part of making a deal.

The documentary by Chris Uhlmann was excellent. Exposed all the fluff about ruinables and the idiot talk of “wind and sun is free” that stupid Bowen sprouts.

But, as with all the sensible commentary, it fails to make the point of the false premise that carbon dioxide has anything to do with a constant changing climate apart from being plant food and an essential part of life on earth.

Human addition of carbon dioxide to the mix of climate variables is as much influence as a fart in a hurricane. But Uhlmann made the point that, if Australia shut down completely, it would make fcuk all difference to the global climate. Or the weather.

Bowen should be ripped to shreds over his insane dribble.

For some reason the acronym “NDIS” just popped into my head.

For every good reason Sancho, the rorting of the NDIS by newly confected self-serving ‘service’ providers, the appliance gougers and the providers of goat therapy is legion — of course it is, because it was designed, administered and funded by perkster bureaucracy.

The legislation was/is sloppy and rortable from the outset and the Scheme was created by bureaucrats in their own image.

Remember this the federal bureaucracy took over disability service provision from the states — the federal bureaucracy had NEVER provided a disability service to anyone in 113 years since federation. So little wonder it’s become a leviathanic travesty.

You really didn’t know that there is a legal ban on a nuclear industry here? Wow. Instigated by Whitlam and never contested thereafter. Poor Fellow My Country.

We have a reactor – Lucas Heights. It produces isotopes for medical use.

Is it operating illegally? No.

The legal ban on using nuclear to produce electricity then becomes more idiotic and dystopian. I recall all the “nuclear free zones” started in the 80’s during the dying days of the Cold War also the panic in the wake of Three Mile Island and then Chernobyl. I did not know it went back as far as the Whitless wrecking ball.

A quick Google tells me that it was the Howard government who legislated against nuclear 8n 1998. Thanks Coalition.

I’ve always thought the way round this is Jervis Bay, reopen the works that were started there for a Nuc Plant after the Feds change the law, over ride the Canberra City Council abomination in the process.

You would have to tie up the activist Federal and High Court with legislation also.

Ship all the materials in by sea so State Governments like NSW can all but squawk. Jervis Bay was set up so the ACT had a sea port and NSW’s jurisdiction extends 3 NM off their coast anyway.

Once it’s built and running too bad so sad. By then Bowen unicorn farts will be causing brown outs and load shedding of the grid after NSW closes its coal fired plants.

The ALP/Left just do and beg for forgiveness later or ride roughshod over with Parliament enacting laws. Time that was repaid.

They have 6 months of uneventful dry season weather to tweak with the radar on Harveys Range for the Townsville region. That’s after the disaster a few years back of moving it from Mt Stuart because of black spots to where it is now with even more different black spots and oversensitivity issues.

Hey but we will wait till cyclone season is on to tweak with it over the next 6 months and now the SST are high enough to spawn them, just monsoon missing. FMD.

————————

Pitcairn Island, home to around 50 people, is the only inhabited island in its South Pacific group, lying about 5,300 kilometers from New Zealand and 5,500 kilometers from South America.

Known as one of the world’s most remote settlements, its nearest inhabited neighbor is Mangareva in French Polynesia, located approximately 540 kilometers away.

As a British overseas territory, Pitcairn’s population largely descends from the HMS Bounty mutineers and their Tahitian companions who settled there in the 18th century.

The island sustains itself through a modest economy that includes craft-making, honey production, and limited tourism. Residents are self-sufficient but rely on quarterly supply shipments from New Zealand.

Pitcairn’s rugged landscape, with steep cliffs and valleys, contributes to its secluded, tranquil lifestyle. The island lacks an airport, with the only access being a two-day boat journey from Mangareva, underscoring the challenges and isolation of life in this unique setting.

In the thick of harvest for another year.
While at my Walgett job I “jumped the fence” to the neighbours’ place for a few days as we had run into green crop. The neighbour is a rather large operator (40,000acres of cereals alone) and I was working with four other harvesters and three chaser bins, including my own.
Somebody can do the calculations but here are the raw numbers for that pinprick on the map about a month ago.
5 class 8 headers @. 80lts/hr
3 chaser bin tractors @. 35lts/hr
7 road trains in the rotation @120km round trip @1lt/km (ave turn around of 2.5hrs)

You can get small solar appliances that will store enough electric power to charge your phone and computer. Mine is a light with a small solar panel on the top of it. You can charge it up with mains power and it will soal up solar power when in the sun. I also have a solar powered small radio, for emegencies too. Same thing – charge on mains and use solar when needed.

These things seemed useful for emergencies.

I did buy a small solar panel (about the size of a large open laptop computer) with a USB port attached – on a special at Coles for $25 – but I haven’t tried it out yet.

After so many years, I finally found out why American wait staff get so upset if you don’t leave a tip. The IRS assumes that a portion of their income comes from tips, calculated as a minimum percentage (I’m not sure of the exact number, but let’s say 20%). If you don’t tip, the shortfall effectively reduces their wage component due to the IRS assumption. In other words, for every dollar they earn, the IRS treats it as though they made $1.20. Tips are disclosed separately from the wage component. The IRS also has job categories where tips are assumed to be part of income.

I see Robert Kennedy wants to stop half or more of America getting hooked on Ozempic or derivates of it. Once you start this stuff you don’t stop. Whacko for big pharma.

as John H notes, Ozempic may have a place in cases of extreme obesity as the food habits and possibly celluar responses are so ingrained. Thee people are not going to change food habits much. So tackle the issue at the next generation, and at production sources.

Ozempic should never be used on children, imho, unless it is for intractable diabetes and even there I’m dubious. The fact that it slows digestion and can cause a form of digestive paralysis should be raising red flags everywhere. Do not do this to children. Certainly in cases of pre-diabetes and early type 2 then a change in dietary habits should be considered first.

The American diet is appalling, and Kennedy knows this. The problem has to be tackled at the societal level, re food production and food advertising. High sugar soda drinks and high carbohydrate meals could be put under critical scrutiny and loads of TV shows should do case studies to educate those in thrall to these food empires about their noxioius products. This doesn’t necessarily mean places like Makkas and Kentucky Fried are all wrong. It’s their buns and chips and sweet treats that do the most damage.

I’ve lost weight using Makkas and KF foods. Just ditch the buns and the chips. Eat the meat and salad in the burgers. Tasty and trims you. Makka’s chicken wraps are ok too.. You get two tasty pieces of crumbed fried chicken with lettuce and tomato. Eat those.and ditch the bready wraps. (My keto lunches for trips up and down the coast; I lost 1.5 kilos over the 4 days away making good keto choices at various restaurants and having scrambled egg with no toast breakfasts).

I am not in favour of taxing poor quality foods, see the cigarette tax here which shows how taxes complicate matters, as well as being authoritarian in the extreme. Change what is available to eat. Replace the seed oils used in processed and ‘fast’ foods with better altrnatives.

Most of all, teach portion control regardless of what it is you are eating. Start with restaurant servings. Charge more for high carbs like potato, pasta and bread products, and subsidise good quality meats for both home and restaurant consumption. Leave deserts as the treats they were meant to be – small in size and high in quality ingredients.

Produce more meat and get rid of the anti-meat greenies and purveyors of foods popular in meat-short countries such as lentil-driven India and pasta and rice cuisines with limited meat. Recognise humans can’t survive as well as the meat-eaters we are evolved to be by living on vegies alone. Meat consumption produces stronger and taller people (as long as they don’t do excess carbs and processed fats, which produce CHD).

Small changes incremental and cultural, can do a lot. Good luck to RFK.

In case I seem prescriptive about keto diets, I am not. They are useful for an initial and encouraging weight loss, but can and likely should be modified after a while. Eating meat, high quality carbs (but far less of them) and a savory breakfast rather than cereal can reduce glucose peaks and the ups and downs of glucose cravings between meals. A keto regime initially trains the palate to desire far fewer sweet treats. It’s suprising how quickly the desire for Tim Tams diminishes.

Oh, and you don’t have to ditch all of the Makka’s wrap or bun.
Half of it will do nicely if you’re truly hungry. 🙂

Eating meat, high quality carbs (but far less of them) and a savory breakfast rather than cereal can reduce glucose peaks and the ups and downs of glucose cravings between meals.

Why eat breakfast at all? Our hunter gatherer ancestors didn’t get up and go to the fridge, they went to work unfed, hunted all day and if they got lucky, consumed their catch that night. Time restricted eating gets you into ketosis faster, and ketosis is the key to the carnivore diet.

It’s not bread per se in the US that is the problem, it’s that it is laced with sugar. I found that out on a trip through the US mid-west some time ago. I could only eat continental bread rolls in restaurants and hotel breakfast rooms as these were the only ones not containing sugar.

The sweet taste was all wrong to me but it didn’t seem to bother the Americans. I found the same in Japan in most of their breads and rolls, they must have copied it from the Americans.

Agree – unless you can find specialist bread (eg rye) it is like eating cake. I found it particularly horrid when eating it with savouries, high protein fillings and salads, imagine eatinng these foods on cake and you’ll get the picture.

Not all American food is like this. There are plenty of regional cuisines and ethnic cuisines which are both healthy and delicious. But the mainstream diet is overloaded with sugar and fat, and the portions are huge. I hardly ever cleaned my plate in a restaurant.

the jig is up for wind and solar snake oil salesmen like Chris Bowen

Albo has been chumming up with China lately, but I bet he isn’t talking to them about climate stuff.

BRICS’ Kazan Declaration Trumps COP29 Climate Blather (18 Nov)

The Kazan declaration they signed builds upon their already strong economic and diplomatic ties under the BRICS framework established in 2009 and expanded since then. However, most mainstream media didn’t notice—or intentionally underreported—that the core BRICS countries – including India, China and Russia – have openly declared that their domestic energy needs and economic wellbeing will take precedence over international climate agreements like the Paris Accords and “net zero” initiatives.

Interestingly, powerful leaders from these BRICS countries—such as China’s Xi Jinping and India’s Narendra Modi—are absent this week from the ongoing COP29 – the U.N.’s annual climate gathering. … The mainstream media was silent as their “green” fantasy was disintegrating right in front of their eyes at Kazan.

Of course the BRICS won’t mind if Western countries commit climate seppuku, but they’re not dumb enough to do it themselves.

I’ve got one. I feel it doesn’t last quite as long as expected before going flat, but it could get you through a few hours of blackout. Ours would have been sufficient to get through the blackout we had from that big Melbourne storm earlier in the year (running 2×550-litre fridges) and nothing else until the power company texted that the lights would not come back on at 10 PM per Plan A but perhaps two days later. Perhaps it might give you 8 hours on a regular fridge is you don’t open it to much and a PC.

Some people can’t be helped, and their kids are taught to eat poorly. The only thing that saves them from a life of obesity are drugs to reduce appetite. That’s all there is. If Ozempic has side effects, those obviously need to be weighed against the benefits of avoiding a lifetime of obesity. Trade-offs matter.
Today, we went out for lunch in Williamsburg ,Crooklyn with some friends. At an adjacent table, there was a couple. The guy looked average-sized, but the girl? She was a fat f**.* How did she get there? Let me break it down for you.
She started with onion soup and two slices of bread. I figured she’d stop there, but no! A gigantic main course arrived, which she devoured without hesitation.
There’s no way RFK’s policies are ever going to change people like this.

Some people can’t be helped, and their kids are taught to eat poorly. The only thing that saves them from a life of obesity are drugs to reduce appetite.

The general societal problem is not that SOME people make bad choices, we all do. The issue is that those choices are not self correcting because we are insulated from the consequences by the welfare state. If we made obesity a personal problem by no longer backstopping the consequences (health costs, unemployability, poor productivity etc) we could stop worrying about it.

As Ashley Brilliant said ‘it could be that your sole purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others’?

Pitcairn’s population largely descends from the HMS Bounty mutineers and their Tahitian companions who settled there in the 18th century.

From memory….

When they were finally discovered about 25 years later there was only one mutineer left. All the others had died, mostly in violent ways.

Eventually the descendents petitioned Queen Victoria to let them go to Norfolk Island. They were allowed to, but some later returned to Pitcairn because they thought they had been promised all of Norfolk Island, and to be the boss/owners of it too..

And…the wreck of the Bounty is still off Pitcairn. although it was stripped and burnt onshore…

She started with onion soup and two slices of bread. I figured she’d stop there, but no! A gigantic main course arrived, which she devoured without hesitation.

There’s no way RFK’s policies are ever going to change people like this.

I remember travelling to the US in the era of “soup and/or salad” being provided as complementary sides with every meal.
We caused great consternation in one restaurant when we cancelled the soup/salad option (“but it’s free, sir”) and ordered a main each and a bottle of wine.
Much mumbling and pointing between the waiter and the maître d’. Eventually the head waiter comes over. “Just to confirm sir. No soup. No salad. Just one main course each … and a whole bottle of wine?”
“You got it, champ.”

I’m afraid they are. Potatos are pretty much ALL carbs. Of the 3 macronutrients, 100g of potato contains 23g of carbs, 3g of protein and 0.1g of fat. And worse still… even though they taste like crap unless you add fat or salt, when you eat them, their ‘complex’ carbs get chopped up into simple sugars – so you might as well have just eaten something nice n sweet instead.

Cringe moment Anthony Albanese HOLDS HANDS with Xi Jinping at centre of G20 leaders’ ‘family photo’

In Deep Working Relationship news:

Abronese was on the electric wireless yesterday denying that he spent the whole of his 20 minutes with Xi inside the barrel – and boasting about shirtfronting the Emperor on matters that Australia must disagree with.

According to Lu Wigi he gave quite a spray – as the Fin Review reports:

Albanese lays out his red line after Xi demands more access for China

Back in Rio, Mr Albanese pushed Mr Xi on security by raising China’s continuing support for Russia’s “immoral and illegal” invasion of Ukraine. He also reiterated Australia’s position in Taiwan, the usual issues of regional security, such as the South China Sea, and the plight of detained Australian citizen Yang Hengjun, who has been handed a suspended death sentence for espionage.

Zap! POW! Cop that, CCP dictator swine.

Mr Albanese said he received no response from Mr Xi on these issues.

Just a warning to be “careful”, or the lobsters get it…

During the G20 photoshoot, Xi must have been wondering who was the strange little gweilo urgently tugging at his sleeve…

WA senator Fatima Payman strikes up unlikely union with embattled CFMEUDan Jervis-BardyThe West Australian
Tue, 19 November 2024 9:52AM

Fatima Payman is set to front a pro-CFMEU rally in Melbourne alongside one of its sacked officials as the WA senator develops an unlikely union with the fellow Labor Party outcasts.
Senator Payman will also push for a Senate inquiry on Wednesday into the administrator charged with cleaning up the scandal-plagued construction union in another sign of the burgeoning alliance.
The ex-Labor senator and former union official has been publicly sympathetic to the embattled CFMEU over recent weeks, using this month’s Senate estimates to hammer Employment Minister Murray Watt about the use of member funds to cover the administration’s costs.
The line of questioning prompted Senator Watt to accuse Senator Payman of a secret “agenda”.
In a sign of her growing support for the union, The West can reveal Senator Payman is scheduled to speak at a pro-CFMEU public meeting in inner-city Melbourne on December 5.

Earlier, Calli was wondering about the legality of nuclear power in Australia.

The place of nuclear in the energy mix has been an issue for most of my working life in Australia – a complex web of stupidity, fear, ignorance, anti-US politics, and a hangover of the nuclear disarmament movement.

For wonks, this 2023 AEC paper succinctly describes the Arc of Nuclear Failure from Gorton onwards and the rise of performative anti-nuclear legislation:

Nuclear power for Australia: A potted history
In the 1990’s, the petroleum industry was pondering the implications of a future which had a spine of nukes on the east coast by 2020. This was built on the forecast retirement of coal (about now) and the emergence of the AGW scare (which, in 1995, was just starting to become an industry strategic issue).

As it turned out, John Howard completely shagged the politics of nuclear energy (perhaps deliberately) – and here we are.

An honourable mention should go to the unpleasant Grayndler Member for his 2006 contribution:

The then Opposition environment spokesman, Anthony Albanese (and now Prime Minister) labelled Howard’s nuclear policy as “Australia’s nightmare”.

At least the little beast has been consistent across his long and useless career.

“Political reasons” was horse trading to get the GST legislation passed by the senate cross bench. Despite the bruising election campaign which was basically a referendum on the GST.

At the time no doubt Howard, like Menzies back in the day, expected our then very cheap power to continue to be mainly generated by coal which of course is the second cheapest source of electricity behind dam based hydro.

Ladyboy news (the CM):

Controversial Schoolies escort Kay Manuel has taken it upon herself to put it out there on her terms – she was not born female, has filmed no X-rated content with Schoolies this year and Gold Coast is an escape from a “small town mindset”.

This is one of the OnlyFans people advertising an intent to root schoolies, and film it for her ‘platform’. A pommy chick planning to do the same thing went to Fiji for the same purpose after adverse publicity here, but is in the process of being deported after the Fiji people found out about it.

Perhaps the most important thing this person ‘forgot’ to mention during her advertising campaign was that she was, in fact, a dude.

In an exclusive interview this week, she admitted the numbers she previously provided about bed partners were a hyped publicity stunt, she had not yet filmed with any 2024 “barely legal” graduates, and any she filmed with last year when the whole controversy began were made aware of Ms Manuel’s gender transition.

A pack of lies, then. Unsurprising – if you can lie to yourself, you can lie to others.

Last week, Ms Manuel – who erected a billboard promoting herself in central Surfers to the 20,000 Schooles expected and hosted a nightclub “meet and greet” – defiantly told critics: “Take it up with the government. This is all legal.”

It’s legal to be a dickhead as well. Or a ranga. It doesn’t make it right.

Albanese defended the purpose of the bill at a press conference in Melbourne, explaining it addresses concerns of media organisations about misinformation such as promoting the injection of bleach as a Covid cure on social media.

Not immediately clear exactly who promoted the “injection of bleach as a Covid cure”. That actually sounds like an echo of Biden’s misinformation about the media’s disinformation about Trump’s 2020 comments.

Shirley that little scamp Albanese wasn’t misinforming anyone about that…

On Starmer, the Farmer’s Friend.

Mrs Faustus’s UK family includes a herd of farmers – from which I find my (admittedly limited) farming awareness and these observations:

A million pounds – Starmer’s threshold for the farm tax – currently buys you a modest house and ~50 acres of arable land;

50 acres is insufficient for any viable food production business – maybe rare breeds, heirloom garlic or other fashionable specialty produce.

Instead, think 200+ acres as an average to support one, or a couple of families and some on-farm workers.

In my experience these people work long, hard hours in a complicated and commercially risky occupation for fairly modest returns. (Although, being taciturn Derbyshire folk, they may be lying through their teeth, have well-stocked Trust Funds, and own secret Lamborghinis.)

In Dead Man Walking news:

Kevin Rudd has broken his silence on Donald Trump’s return to power, with Australia’s ambassador to the US declaring he is ready to work with him despite some of the President-elect’s allies questioning his position.

The former prime minister has been under fire for his criticism of Mr Trump prior to taking on the diplomatic post – including calling him a “village idiot” and a “traitor to the West” – in the wake of the Republican’s stunning victory over Vice President Kamala Harris.

But he brushed off any concerns in his first public appearance since the election, saying he and his team in Washington DC had been “working hard through the course of the last year to ensure that we were well prepared for this moment”.

“And the bottom line is, we’re ready,” Dr Rudd told the Sydney International Strategy Forum in a prerecorded video.

“The team here at the embassy and the government of Australia are ready to work closely with the new Trump administration to continue to realise the benefits of what is a very strong economic and security partnership.”

The ambassador did not comment on the furore over his attacks on Mr Trump, which was further fuelled by Lara Trump – the former president’s daughter-in-law and the Republican Party co-chair – questioning whether he could remain in his post.

Mr Trump’s White House deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino also reposted Dr Rudd’s congratulatory message to the former president on social media with an hourglass, suggesting his time was running out.

But the ambassador used his speech to urge the President-elect to maintain America’s close ties with Australia.

“Different leaders have come to the same conclusion. Our nations are bonded by the values we share, underpinned by the mutual respect for each other’s sovereignty and our respective national interests. American leadership remains indispensable,” Dr Rudd said.

“We live in a world of many challenges and we are clear that the region we want, the interests we have, and the values we share require and call for our two nations to work together. And that is what we will continue to do with President Trump and his incoming administration.”

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has promised Dr Rudd will remain in his post, with former leaders Tony Abbott, Scott Morrison and Malcolm Turnbull also supporting him.

And while Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has not backed calls from some Liberals for the ambassador to resign, he warned Mr Albanese’s “captain’s pick” to appoint the ex-Labor leader had put the government “in a difficult position”.

Dr Rudd only moved to delete his scathing social media posts about Mr Trump in the wake of his election victory.

In his speech at the United States Studies Centre’s forum in Sydney, the ambassador honed in on the benefits of the AUKUS pact to both Australia and the US, as he said the alliance was “critical to Australia’s national security”

Ray Dalio Reveals the Hard Truth About America’s Path Forward | Election Economy Reform & The Future

Tom Bilyeu

Summary In the video, Tom Bilyeu interviews Ray Dalio about the future of the American economy in light of recent political changes. Dalio outlines significant forces shaping the economy, emphasizing the need for internal and external reforms as the U.S. adopts an “America First” policy. He discusses the challenges of changing international dynamics, the likelihood of increased protectionism, the impact of technology, and the necessity of addressing social inequalities through education. Dalio stresses the importance of a bipartisan approach to reforms, highlighting the significant socio-economic issues that need attention in the wake of current political shifts. ### Key Points #### Introduction and Economic Forces 1. **Economy as a Chessboard**: Dalio likens the economy to a chessboard, where understanding the pieces’ positions helps predict future moves. 2. **Five Major Forces**: – Credit and debt cycles affecting buying power and economic output. – Internal political dynamics leading to potential disorder. – International relations and changing global orders. – Natural disasters and climate change’s impact. – Technological advancements that influence economic conditions. #### Political Dynamics and Future Reforms 3. **Changing Domestic Order**: The shift from a Democratic administration to a more right-wing populist government implies significant reforms. 4. **Industrial Policies**: Upcoming reforms will likely resemble a business model focused on efficiency and productivity rather than a pure free market. 5. **America First Policy**: A pivot towards national interests over international cooperation, leading to potential conflict with rising powers like China. #### Implications of Economic Policies 6. **Geopolitical Tensions**: Increased aggressiveness in foreign policy and potential for international confrontations. 7. **Technological Decoupling**: Development of distinct technological ecosystems (U.S. vs. China). 8. **Protectionism**: Expected increases in tariffs and deregulation to boost domestic industries could raise prices for consumers. #### Internal Socio-Economic Challenges 9. **Revenge of the Working Class**: Anger stemming from stagnant wages and diminished prospects could lead to societal unrest. 10. **Need for Bipartisan Support**: Major reforms will require broad consensus, including better education systems to equip future generations. #### Education and Social Safety Nets 11. **Focus on Education**: Dalio emphasizes the necessity for quality education to empower children and not lose a generation. 12. **Concerns about Displaced Workers**: The government must create strategies for those losing jobs in a reforming economy, lest they become disenfranchised. #### Final Thoughts on Economic Management 13. **Manhattan Project for the Economy**: A call for a collective effort to devise effective economic reforms that are equitable and progressive. 14. **Prioritization in Governance**: Immediate focus areas will include immigration, trade, technology, energy, and deregulation. 15. **Potential Risks**: Concerns about alienation of disadvantaged populations and lack of attention to social issues could lead to unrest. #### Conclusion 16. **Vision for the Future**: Emphasizing long-term reforms in governance, economy, and society, with hope for constructive changes that can improve the lives of many Americans.

“A question for discussion. What happens if the NY judge gaols Trump before inauguration?
State of emergency?Appeals?Total shit sandwich?”

Trump can appeal it in NY state, and he would be bailed until the appeal was heard.
If that doesn’t work, he can appeal federally, suggesting his constitutional rights have been violated (there is precedent that you can’t raise a misdemeanor to a felony on the basis that it affects the commission of another crime unless you also specify the other crime – something that they didn’t do in Trump’s trial).

Even if all that doesn’t work out and they want to gaol Trump anyway, then the USSS will have kittens over that – they would likely insist (and they have the power to do it too) that an entire wing of the prison is emptied and they can take full control of said wing, including who gets in and who doesn’t.

Everything just changed. For the first time in Climate Bureaucracy, Nuclear power can save the world too.Until today, only renewables had the Holy Sacred Power against Climate Change. But last night the UK and US signed a new agreement at COP29 to share “billions of pounds worth of nuclear research” in order to “decarbonize” the world.
They did this backflip in such a tearing rush, they didn’t even have time to phone the Prime Ministers they were offering this bonanza to. They accidentally listed all the countries they expected to sign up, only to find the Australian government is going to an election waving the anti-nuclear flag, while the opposition demons carry the pro-nuclear pennant. Oopsie indeed. The press release was reissued, but the Labor government in Australia are now trying to explain why nuclear power is great in submarines, but too expensive and slow for sites that don’t move and aren’t underwater. It’s entertaining.

Nuclear power is the product, Dutton is the salesman.

Thus far his sales pitch is uncertain, failing even to win over the QLD premier.

He’d better refine it by the election campaign because, in a “Look, over there!” strategy, Labor is going to make it the focus.

And if he doesn’t sell it convincingly it’s going to be off the agenda for a generation or so as we slip into energy poverty.

flyingduk

No, its actually the opposite … hunter gatherer humans evolved over millena with the combination of 1) ‘time restricted eating’ (they mainly ate in a short window – at night, consuming the proceeds of the days hunt 2) ‘regular fasts’ (when the hunt failed) and 3) low to very low carbohydrate intake (walk around the aussie bush and tell me what carbs you are going to eat).

These 3 factors kept their BSL low most of the time. The cause of T2DM is repeated insulin spikes as a result of consuming regular and excessive carbs. This makes the cells less sensitive to insulin, requiring increasing production of it which eventually burns the pancreas out.

When on a low carb diet, you really dont get hungry, and especially not in the mornings (I am 70h into a 5 day fast as i type). Breakfast (and especially breakfast cereals) were invented to have you consume carbs at the start of the day, setting you up for a return of hunger a few hours later – and another carb dose (cake/bun/bread/ biscuit) then again for lunch, then again mid afternoon, then at dinner ….. rinse and repeat and consume processed foods all across the day!

The modern, atheist, globalised world is a death cult, informed by the practices of the communist regimes we have spent 50 years attempting to integrate with Western societies through trade, academic and industrial cooperation:

A global shortage of organs has seen demand far outstrip the supply available through national transplantation programs in a number of countries, the report said. This is why instances of the so-called “transplant tourism” have increased two-fold over the past two decades, now accounting for over 10% of the world’s transplants, GRC said.

Among the biggest offenders is China, where ‘tourists’ and locals are being matched with organs at rates far quicker than elsewhere in the world.

“From 2000 onwards, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) leapt from a “follower” to a “leader” of worldwide transplantation technology,” GRC said. “Despite the absence of a voluntary donation system, the organ transplantation hospitals in the PRC tripled within four years, and transplantation surgery, previously conducted nearly exclusively with kidneys, expanded rapidly to surgeries involving hearts, lungs and livers.”

Though China already claims that two thirds of all organs used in transplants were obtained from death row prisoners – who China also says consented to the donations – GRC found that the numbers don’t add up and death sentences have been on the decline, while transplants continue to rise.

https://www.occrp.org/en/news/report-organ-transplant-tourism-rising-globally-china-no1-offender

However, experts suggest the regulatory change will not lead to transparency, bring an end to China’s transplant tourism business, or protect prisoners of conscience and ethnic groups from crimes in organ transplantation, including forced organ harvesting…

-Bioethics Today, 2024

Canada’s decriminalisation of assisted death has elicited significant ethical implications for the use of assisted death in healthcare contexts. Euthanasia by removal of vital organs (ERVO) is a theoretical extension of medically assisted death with an increased plausibility of implementation in light of the rapid expansion of assisted death eligibility laws and criteria in Canada. ERVO entails removing organs from a living patient under general anaesthesia as the mechanism of death. While ERVO is intended to maximise the viability of organs procured from the euthanised patient for donation to recipients, ending the lives of patient donors in this manner solely to benefit ill or dying recipient patients merits further ethical consideration. Specifically, the paper explores the application of personalist bioethics in determining whether the means of procuring organs through assisted death justifies the end of improving the lives of those who would benefit from receiving them. Further, by discussing the medical, social and ethical implications of ERVO, I will explicate a broader philosophical understanding of the influences of legalising assisted death on human dignity and conscience.

He used his “thuggism” to steamroll the Southport protests so expect he’ll dothe same if the farmers get beyond “celebrity” gatherings stage ….

After Southport & his broken promises on illegal migration and pensioner winter fuel discounts Starmer’s political credit rating must be negative or close to it. If the farmers can elicit public sympathy I don’t think he can afford to go up against them.

Farmers get a good hearing from the public when they arc up. No reason to expect any different in the UK.

That was my thought…but I’ve been away from the UK too long to make predictions with certainty.

Poms have a funny relationship with the “countryside”. From. my experience like Australians and the outback, few with any real experience but like to know it’s there.

Why would large funds be interested in buying British farms?

For the same reasons they are elsewhere.

Elsewhere is not everywhere.
British farming is a lifestyle choice. The average return on capital is .5%. In case you missed it that’s a point in front of the 5.

You’re peddling the idea that the British liars imposed the tax so funds can purchase farmland as a result of distressed sales due to death taxes. Did you think of this or did you read it somewhere?

What utter scum UK Labour are, claiming that farm theft is intended to pay for the NHS.

Even for Labour that is a lazy idiotic lie, but sure enough the communist BBC is using it to attack the farm movement.

Once again, the Conservatives are at fault. People were screaming at them to remove the TV levy, but of course the establishment like the BBC. They are a useful tool for repressing the lower orders.

Nuclear power is the product, Dutton is the salesman.

[…]

And if he doesn’t sell it convincingly it’s going to be off the agenda for a generation or so as we slip into energy poverty.

Thus far Dutton and O’Brien have stamped on every political landmine and lit every exploding cigar offered by the enemies of nuclear energy.

They have:

Issued an inconsistent and uncosted preliminary policy, with gaping technical holes;

Locked the politics onto one unproven technology, offered by one supplier* who has yet to get to the demonstration stage;

Kicked the battleground of detailed costed proposals into the long grass just in front of the election.

The US-UK COP29 proposal is something of a life belt. But it is unlikely to be much more than a political concept before the election.

On the other hand, Labor and technical friends will already have double-shotted the canons to try and sink whatever detail is provided.

If a minority Labor government gets up, that will likely be the end of debate for another 20 years. By which time we will envy Chad’s electricity system.

Dark days; little light.

* Inexplicably, given the Coalition policy contemplates conventional as well as SMR technology.

Was good to see Galloway support the protests as well.

Really?

The only place I’d like to see Galloway is on a platform retracting this.

Speaking following the swearing-in, Galloway made several remarks about the Israel-Hamas war and compared Israel’s military offensive in Gaza to the Nazis’ actions during the Holocaust.

I would prefer Nuclear over the renewables rubbish, but honestly my preference is to continue using beautiful Australian coal, with a tiny amount of gas for peaking etc. Coal has always been, and should remain, our energy King. All mainland hydro should be given over to the maximising of water for agriculture. If they can produce cheap sparks as well, fair enough.

British farmers are not like the French who can go feral. Starter has undoubtedly learned from the Canadian truckers strike. Expect debanking, increased and belligerent ministry of agriculture inspections, sudden foot and mouth outbreaks. It will get worse for the farmers.
