NEXT WIN: ENDING THE DEMENTED CLIMATE HOAX

TIM BLAIR
17 Dec 2024

Donald Trump is still a month away from being sworn in, but he’s already adding daily to what must be a world-record winning streak.

First, let’s once more review Trump’s astonishing election triumph, just for the fun of distressing our leftist friends.

Feel the joy! Former and future president Trump won the Electoral College count by 312 to 226. He won the popular vote by a margin of more than 2.2 million. He won every single crucial swing state.

Put those brilliant numbers aside and by any other measures this was an absolute election annihilation for Kamala Harris and her party of woke.

All 50 states plus Democrat-worshipping Washington DC swung in Trump’s direction relative to the outcome in 2020. Trump won last month’s election after surviving two literal assassination attempts, multiple political and financial assassination attempts by lawfare and almost hourly character assassination attempts by media.

Which he accomplished, by the way, without spending nearly as much as his cashed-up rival.

And the victories have continued with Trump’s cabinet picks and senior White House nominations. You can judge the worth of those decisions by the subsequent tonnage of lefty tears.

Trump’s latest win delivered a $US15m payout after he sued the American ABC News network and presenter George Stephanopoulos, who claimed in March that Trump had been found “liable for rape” in a sexual assault case.

Former Democrat staffer Stephanopoulos was wrong. Hilariously, Trump directed that ABC News pay that $15m towards construction of a “presidential foundation and museum”.

Even before he’s begun his second term, Trump’s media enemies are building his monument.
Beautiful.

Perhaps that monument will include a wing celebrating Trump’s demolition of weather mania. Temperature activists fear that Trump could chargrill the climate change cash cow.

“It’s so depressing,” one attendee at a US science conference told the Guardian last week. “Hopefully we will survive it all,” said another, obviously talking about funding rather than our planet. “We’ve been hearing a lot from scientists who are incredibly worried,” a climate lawyer whined to Politico.

Good. Panic means that the global cash-grab crowd is on the defensive – and maybe soon on the run.

Unlike most Australian conservatives, who are careful to not offend climate bullies, Trump stands up to them. Of particular interest to progress enthusiasts and jittery climate folk alike is a Trump speech from 2022, when he outlined his future administration’s philosophy on climate and energy.

“One of the most urgent tasks, not only for our movement but for our country, is to decisively defeat the climate hysteria hoax,” Trump, who hadn’t announced his 2024 election bid, told a Florida audience.

“These people are crazy … they’re radical climate people,” Trump continued, accurately. Then he got to the heart of the matter.

“The radical left’s fearmongering about climate and our future is no longer just scaring American youth,” he said. “It’s destroying America’s economy, weakening our society and eviscerating our middle class. It’s really hurting us.”

Everything that Trump said is also true of Australia. Our economy has been damaged by climate activism. Our society is intellectually and morally weakened. Our middle class is down and hurting.

The likes of Chris Bowen are peeling money out of our wages and taking affordable power out of our futures. Our federal climate munchkin could really do some damage before he’s thrown out.

Trump routinely identifies solutions as well as problems. “Conservative leaders, think tanks and intellectuals must be fearless in calling out the lunacy of what you’re seeing and what you’re being led into,” he said in that speech. “The world is not ending. Our future is not dying. We have to defeat the climate hoaxsters once and for all.”

Yes, yes and yes. Our local conservatives would be wise to embrace all of these mighty truths – and soon, before the moment passes.

Trump has created a movement that extends far beyond the US. This should embolden Liberals to take similar stands, or encourage moderates to bugger off to the teals or Greens where they belong.

Meanwhile, Trump is outlining his next climate vision. He’s planning to bypass stupid environmental regulations for major investors.

“Any person or company investing ONE BILLION DOLLARS, OR MORE, in the United States of America, will receive fully expedited approvals and permits, including, but?in no way limited to, all environmental approvals,” Trump posted last week on social media.

“GET READY TO ROCK!!!”

We could use some of that.

If only the LNP would grow a backbone and cull the LINOs…sigh…

Today’s Tele:

FRIENDLY WORDS AND LARGE CHEQUES WON’T EASE HATRED

ROBERT GREGORY
17 Dec 2024

Throwing money at anti-Semitism won’t make the problem go away.

Days after it was torched in a terrorist arson attack, Anthony Albanese arrived at the Adass Israel Synagogue in Melbourne, promising $32.5m for communal security.

After an anti-Semitic arson attack in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, the PM appeared at the Jewish Museum with a promise of $8.5m. But Labor’s splurge isn’t working.

The Jewish community is furious at this Labor government. We have spent 14 months asking Labor to take anti-Semitism seriously.

We don’t need the PM to show up at every anti-Semitic attack with his chequebook. We need his government to do what it can to stop the attacks from occurring.

We asked for a judicial inquiry into rampant anti-Semitism at universities. Labor refused. We asked the PM to rule out deals with the Greens, a party that peddles in anti-Jewish conspiracies. He refused.

Whether it’s rushed visas for Gazans or confronting radical preachers who spread anti-Jewish hate, Labor is deaf to the concerns of the Jewish community.

We asked the Albanese government to tone down its hateful rhetoric toward the Jewish state. Ministers responded by escalating their anti-Israel attacks. The foreign minister last week compared Israel unfavourably to Russia and China.

As the PM was heading to the Jewish Museum, audio leaked of him telling a Labor crowd: “Some people have got a bit upset. They’ll be more upset by Thursday.” Albanese was referring to the hurt his government caused by adopting yet another anti-Israel position at the UN.

NSW Jewish Board of Deputies President David Ossip told The Daily Telegraph: “I have only the greatest of respect for the office of Prime Minister and appreciate the donation to the Museum but I couldn’t bring myself to go and hear the Prime Minister talk about anti-Semitism whilst his government plots further policy moves against Israel.” Ossip received wide praise in the Jewish community.

Senior Rabbi Laibl Wolf implored communal organisations to refuse Labor’s funds until the government takes steps to confront anti-Semitism.

Rather than throwing money at the problem, Labor must commit to a serious inquiry into raging university anti-Semitism.

It must commit to carrying out adequate screening of immigrants from Gaza, to prevent importing hate.

And, very importantly, the Albanese Labor government must rule out any and all preference deals with the extremist and anti-Israel Greens.

Australia is burning. Jews are being targeted in arson attacks in multiple cities. This has become a major national political issue.

Ironically, in Labor’s desperation to maintain or win votes from anti-Israel communities, they are running the risk of costing themselves the next election.

Robert Gregory is CEO of the Australian Jewish Association

Why do the Jews allow people like Anal into places like the Jewish Museum? And why do they stand there while he pisses on the Jewish people?
Meet the bastard at the front door and tell him in front of his media lackeys he’s not welcome until he does something concrete about the Muslim problem.
Standing behind him while he signs the chequebook makes it look like the Jewish administrators are up for sale.

Softbank’s new $US100bill investment in the US is going to get the sceptics going and that’s justified.
The cliche is “will this fund another WeWork”.
That’s the talking point that every NPC on social media is posting.

The sceptics would be better off looking at the CHIPS act which is one of the biggest failures of the Biden administration.
This was meant to incentivise investment in semiconductors in the US with the aim of being 6% of global supply by 2030.
And then hopefully 30% plus by 2050.

Unfortunately, as at the end of the September quarter, less than 1% of the funds have been appropriated.

Meaning there is a real chance the Softbank investment over the next 4 years could be multiples of what the US taxpayer pumps into funding the CHIPS act.

Who said government intervention created value ?

Trump’s stunt at the Softbank announcement trying to get Masa to make it $US200bill should be seen for what it is, a stunt.
The IM for the $US100bill fund is already completed.

We must save democracy by destroying democracy!

Keir Starmer branded ‘dictator’ as he delays 2025 local elections (16 Dec)

Nigel Farage has torn into Prime Minister Keir Starmer after it emerged this morning some crucial local elections will now not be held next year.

It’s understood that some local elections will now no longer take place in May 2025 as originally scheduled, but instead be delayed until 2026 or 2027.

LBC has reported that the Government is looking to scrap elections in Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Lancashire and Sussex – all areas Reform would have been hoping to make big gains.

Nigel Farage erupted that cancelling elections “in some areas of the country where Reform are gaining momentum is the act of a desperate government.”

Yesterday Labour grandee Harriet Harman claimed that Mr Farage’s party is “not just a threat to individual parties, but a threat to democracy”.

Labour’s hypocrisy and lying is off scale. On the other hand the voters won’t be fooled by this wheeze and will be even more disgusted with them.

Second again judiciary fails the victims.

Judges want to pet hands then take discretion out of their hands and build bigger prisons. The results of throwing money and “understanding” is where we are at the moment.

Lia could start by reviewing sentencing guidelines. Can see why Darren Clark is frustrated, starting the change in sentencing guidelines day 1 would have been a step in the right direction.

Regrettably can say Chrisifulli has been no different, talked the talk but we’re yet to see the walk. Business as usual for the yoof so far.

Today’s Paywallion:

Fake history is flourishing across the West. Just consider these three cases
Nigel Biggar
Updated 32 minutes ago

Throughout the English-speaking world elites are falling over themselves to believe the very worst of their own countries.

Let’s consider Canada. In May 2021 an Indian band in Kamloops, British Columbia claimed ground-penetrating radar had discovered “soil disturbances” that evidenced unmarked graves containing the remains of 215 “missing children” in land associated with an Indian Residential School.

The media quickly sexed up the story into one of “mass graves”, with all its connotation of murderous atrocity. On May 30 the Toronto Globe and Mail published an article under the title “The discovery of a mass gravesite at a former residential school in Kamloops is just the tip of the iceberg”. In it, Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond, professor of law at the University of British Columbia, wrote: “It is horrific. But it is not shocking. In fact, it is the opposite – a too-common unearthing of the legacy, and enduring reality, of colonialism in Canada.”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ordered Canadian flags to be flown at half-mast on all federal buildings to honour the murdered children. Because the Kamloops school had been run by a Roman Catholic religious order, some zealous citizens took to burning and vandalising churches, 85 of them to date. The dreadful tale was eagerly broadcast worldwide by Al Jazeera.

Yet, more than three years later, not a single set of remains of a murdered Indian child in an unmarked grave has been found either in Kamloops or elsewhere in Canada. Indeed, not a single attempt to disinter an alleged grave has been made.

Judging by the evidence collected by Chris Champion and Tom Flanagan in their best-selling book, Grave Error: How the Media Misled us (and the Truth about the Residential Schools), it looks increasingly probable that the Kamloops story, and the ones that followed it, are myths.

Meanwhile, in Britain, the Church of England has committed itself to pour an initial £100m ($198.4m) of its assets into an investment fund for “black-led” businesses around the world. This was made “to address … past wrongs” in response to the discovery that the Queen Anne’s Bounty, a forerunner of the church’s endowment, had “links” with African chattel enslavement.

A document entitled Healing, Repair and Justice explains. “The immense wealth accrued by the church … has always been interwoven with the history of African chattel enslavement,” it tells us. “African chattel enslavement was central to the growth of the British economy of the 18th and 19th centuries and the nation’s wealth thereafter … The cruelty of a multinational white establishment … has continuing toxic consequences resulting from the denial of equal access to healthcare, education, employment, justice, and capital.” Every one of these claims, however, is either dubious or false. The Queen Anne’s Bounty was hardly involved in the evil of slave trading at all. Most economic historians reckon the contribution of slave trading and slavery to Britain’s economic development as somewhere between marginal and modest.

Slavery was perpetrated on black Africans by other black Africans long before it was perpetrated by white Europeans. And between abolition in 1834 and the present day multiple causes have intervened to complicate and diminish the effects of slavery.

Consonant with his church’s policy, then archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby preached a sermon in Christ Church Cathedral, Zanzibar on May 12, in which he criticised Christian missionaries for treating Africans as inferior and confessed that “we (British) must repent and look at what we did in Zanzibar”.

That is odd, since what the British did in Zanzibar during the second half of the 19th century was to force the sultan to end the slave trade. Indeed, the cathedral in which the archbishop was preaching was built over the former slave market.

And here’s what pioneering missionary David Livingstone wrote about black Africans in 1871: “I have no prejudice against (the Africans’) colour; indeed, anyone who lives long among them forgets that they are black and feels that they are just fellow men …. If a comparison were instituted, and Manyuema, taken at random, placed opposite say members of the Anthropological Society of London, clad like them in kilts of grass cloth, I should like to take my place among the Manyuema, on the principle of preferring the company of my betters.”

Australia’s equivalent is the extraordinary career of Bruce Pascoe’s Dark Emu. Published in 2014, this argues that Aboriginal people, far from being primitive nomads, developed the first egalitarian society, invented democratic government, eschewed “imperial warfare”, pioneered complex fishing technology, and were sophisticated agriculturalists. Such was the morally superior civilisation that white colonisers trashed in their greed, racist contempt and relentless violence.

Dark Emu was named Book of the Year and received the Indigenous Writers’ Prize in the 2016 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards. It has sold more than 360,000 copies and has been made the subject of an ABC documentary.

And yet, while enthusiastically praised for challenging conventional views about Aboriginal culture and popularising the topic, it has been widely criticised for being factually untrue. While not a professional academic, Peter O’Brien has forensically dismantled it in Bitter Harvest: The Illusion of Aboriginal Agriculture in Bruce Pascoe’s Dark Emu, systematically exposing the many gaps between claim and evidence.

And in Farmers or Hunter Gatherers? The Dark Emu Debate, eminent anthropologist Peter Sutton and archaeologist Keryn Walshe, while vigorously rejecting the description of Aboriginal culture as “primitive”, nevertheless dismiss Pascoe’s claims for Aboriginal agriculture and aquaculture, and expose his editing of primary sources to make them appear to support his thesis. Reviewers have described their book variously as “rigorously researched”, “masterful”, and “measured”.

So, prime ministers, archbishops, academics, editors and public broadcasters are all in the business of exaggerating the colonial sins of their own countries against noble (not-so-very) savages – from Vancouver to London to Sydney. Why?

The reasons are several, not least a well-meaning desire to raise respect for Indigenous cultures with a view to “healing” race relations. But that doesn’t explain the impatient brushing aside – even the aggressive suppression – of concerns about evidence and truth in the eager rush to irrational self-criticism.

One plausible explanation is the operation of a degenerate Christian sensibility. For Christians, the paradoxical mark of the genuinely righteous person is a profound awareness of their own unrighteousness. The saint is distinguished as the one who knows more deeply than others just what a sinner he really is.

There’s considerable virtue in this, of course, for it tempers self-righteousness with compassion for fellow sinners, forbidding the righteous to cast the unrighteous beyond the human pale.

Yet, like all virtue, it’s vulnerable to vice. For it can degenerate from genuine humility into a perverse bid for supreme self-righteousness, which exaggerates one’s sins and broadcasts the display of repentance: holier-than-thou because more-sinful-than-thou.

In The Tyranny of Guilt, French philosopher Pascal Bruckner captures this when he writes of contemporary, post-imperial Europe (and, by extension, the West): “This is the paternalism of the guilty conscience: seeing ourselves as the kings of infamy is still a way of staying on the crest of history.

“Since Freud we know that masochism is only a reversed sadism, a passion for domination turned against oneself. Europe is still messianic in a minor key … Barbarity is Europe’s great pride, which it acknowledges only in itself; it denies that others are barbarous, finding attenuating circumstances for them (which is a way of denying them all responsibility).”

In this display of virtue, the penitent hogs the stage: “By erecting lack of love for oneself into a leading principle, we lie to ourselves about ourselves and close ourselves to others … In Western self-hatred, the Other has no place. It is a narcissistic relationship in which the African, the Indian and Arab are brought in as extras.” Maybe Australia’s Aboriginal people, too.

Nigel Biggar is the regius professor emeritus of moral theology at the University of Oxford and author of the best-selling Colonialism: A Moral Reckoning.

Germany Headed for the Polls as Chancellor Olaf Scholz Loses Confidence Vote (16 Dec)

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz lost a vote of confidence in parliament on Monday thereby paving the way for early elections in the European Union’s most populous member and biggest economy on 23 February next year.

Scholz’s Social Democratic Party (SDP) is trailing heavily in opinion polls as the conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) under Friedrich Merz appears to be on course for a return to government.

Given the malaise that the red-green coalition has sunk Germany into I expect there will be baseball bats, lots of baseball bats.

It’s interesting to hear that some Druze villages in Syria, near the Israel Golan border, are asking to be annexed by Israel. The Druze know the reality that has emerged since the collapse of the Assad regime, and they would have zero illusions about the nature of the Sunni rebels who’ve taken now Syria.

The Druze communities across the Syrian and Israeli Golan are closely related but have been separated since 1967 and many families were divided. Druze and Alawism, the sect the Assad family belonged to, are closely related, both obscure branches of Shiism. The history of Shiism is a fascinating subject in itself.

The Assad regime, whilst awful, did protect religious minorities, be they Christians and obscure Muslim sects.

Question for QLD Cats connected to the Ezra Mam situation.
He was unlicensed & therefore uninsured when he collected the Uber.
Inside the Uber was the driver, plus two passengers (mother & daughter).

In NSW one of the three levy’s you are charged when you use Uber goes to insurance (the other two are the taxi bail out & “temporary” fuel levy) meaning that no matter who causes an accident the passengers are covered.

Is that the situation in QLD?
Or will the mother & daughter have to pursue Mam for damages?

Don’t use Uber or taxis that often either.

What I can tell you there is no taxi bail out like I have seen added to my fare in Sydney. Only added fee I have seen is the surcharge for credit cards.

As for victims, footy clubs up this way have friends in high places. When I was younger the Broncos used to run amok in the Flinders st Nightclub precinct. Assaults, sex pest behaviour you name it,, especially the married guys. Heard stories of payouts to keep quiet and wouldn’t be surprised if it actually was a thing.

We don’t have a big population here and are remote so its hard to keep things quiet.

I am not familiar with Qld law but in personal injury situations the compulsory government insurance would cover people with a right to recover against the uninsured person. They effectively assume any right of action would have in a similar way to the insurer under a contract of insurance.

If it is an EO Trump can simply reverse it. If they don’t show at the office, “you’re fired!”

Alternately, depending of the type and need for the job, they can simply get rid of the job.
Let’s face it, most (not all) public service jobs are a waste of resources.

the gentle lettuce leaf swishing that the judge gave Ezra Mam for drugs/unlicensed/injuring 3 folk in 2 other cars & leaving one a 4 years old girl with a broken hip .. $850 fine & 8 months driving ban …

Yeah well, at least the mamster didn’t quote any passages from the bible decrying various sinful activities. Which should be of some comfort for the mother and grievously injured kiddie.

What a joke.

not so long ago, actual numbers for the real wind turbine blade service life was fairly easy to find on the internet. Now try search for those numbers. It’s very difficult to find anything other than projected life of 25 years. All the numbers for financial return are based on those numbers which aren’t real. This is an excerpt from a paywalled article in the UK Telegraph.

Donald Trump may just have toppled Justin Trudeau’s government
The final nail in Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s political coffin may have been delivered on Monday morning. The person holding the metaphorical hammer? Chrystia Freeland, who had been one of the most respected and trusted ministers in the Liberal government.
Freeland has been a loyal foot soldier and political confidant for Trudeau for nine years. She’s held several senior cabinet positions, serving most recently as deputy prime minister and the country’s first female finance minister. Her influence over communications, economic strategy and policy-making has been so emphatic that she was dubbed the “minister of everything”.
As it turned out, being involved in everything meant nothing to this PM.
“On Friday, you told me you no longer want me to serve as your finance minister and offered me another position in the Cabinet,” Freeland wrote in a resignation letter released this morning. “Upon reflection, I have concluded that the only honest and viable path is for me to resign from the Cabinet. To be effective, a minister must speak on behalf of the Prime Minister and with his full confidence. In making your decision, you made clear that I no longer credibly enjoy that confidence and possess the authority that comes with it.”
This passage is pretty stunning. It’s even more so when combined with what she wrote further down.
“For the past number of weeks, you and I have found ourselves at odds about the best path forward for Canada,” she continued. This related to US president-elect Donald Trump’s impending 25 per cent tariffs on all Canadian goods. She believed that Canada should be “pushing back against ‘America First’ economic nationalism”. It would also mean working with provinces and territories to build a “true Team Canada response”.

So, despite unprecedented power and influence given to Elders past, present and emerging, the “organization” is burning money, all violence and crime is blooming, women and children most affected… and whiteman firewater is to blame.
The only solution is to take all money and alchohol away. It’s a return to traditional lifestyle too, innit?

The manner in which Aboriginal “elders” are treated as offenders is fundamental racist. In the past, racist policy worked against them, but for a few decades now, it favours them. Policy is enshrined in laws that restrict police investigation, and at the other end of the process require more lenient sentencing. In between, judges and magistrates exercise their discretionary powers favourably. The police are attacked when they seek to enforce the law.
There are countless examples.
The victims of these offenders are mainly defenceless Aboriginals. In their interests, as for the rest of us, one might hope that Dutton’s calling out the nonsense with flags, and some local councils jettisoning welcome events, gets a wrecking ball through all this crap.

AIs are now smearing righties with lies, and deleting them.

Ghosted By ChatGPT: How Jonathan Turley Was First Defamed & Then Deleted By AI (17 Dec)

Thus far, the ghosting is limited to ChatGPT sites, but the controversy highlights a novel political and legal question in the brave new world of AI.

My path toward cyber-erasure began with a bizarre and entirely fabricated account by ChatGPT.

As I wrote at the time, ChatGPT falsely reported that there had been a claim of sexual harassment against me (which there never was) based on something that supposedly happened on a 2018 trip with law students to Alaska (which never occurred), while I was on the faculty of Georgetown Law (where I have never taught).

In support of its false and defamatory claim, ChatGPT cited a Washington Post article that had never been written and quoted from a statement that had never been issued by the newspaper. The Washington Post investigated the false story and discovered that another AI program, “Microsoft’s Bing, which is powered by GPT-4, repeated the false claim about Turley.”…

Microsoft owns almost half of equity in OpenAI. Ironically, I previously criticized Microsoft founder and billionaire Bill Gates for his push to use artificial intelligence to combat not just “digital misinformation” but “political polarization.” Gates sees the unleashing of AI as a way to stop “various conspiracy theories” and prevent certain views from being “magnified by digital channels.” He added that AI can combat “political polarization” by checking “confirmation bias.”

We all know what Gates regards as misinformation: climate realism. So if Cats you get electronically disappeared by the AIs you will now know why.

Questionable Counting: Analysing the Death Toll from the Hamas-Run Ministry of Health in Gaza

It should be quite simple, compare the current year death statistics against that of previous years, that is deaths from all causes, the difference could then be attributed to the war. Sadly I expect Hamas have thought of that too and added a zero or two to all their current numbers.

Practices like these always end in disaster, the honest police and residents get discouraged and move away. With what’s left you get more concentrated injustice and eventually a failed state or a failed community. Equality for all is the only possible and viable way to go.

Today we begin the first day of the ‘O Antiphons’
in the Church’s liturgy in preparation for Christmas.

December 17 marks the beginning of the “O” Antiphons an ancient part of our liturgy, dating back to the fourth century, one for each day until Christmas Eve. These antiphons address Christ with seven magnificent Messianic titles, based on the Old Testament prophecies:

“O Wisdom From on High”;

“O Lord of the House of Israel”;

“O Root of Jesse’s Stem”;

“O Key of David”;

“O Radiant Dawn”;

“O King of the Nations”;

and “O Emmanuel.”

The verses of “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” are taken from the seven ancient antiphons.

The manner in which Aboriginal “elders” are treated as offenders is fundamental racist.

Its worse than that.
The biggest victims of these people are those they are closest too, and can victimise the most.
Leaving a violent turd in his “community” in the name of racial justice is compounding injustice to everyone.

Victims learn that police/courts are largely ineffective for long term help (they might turn up and take the offender away, but only for a few days)

And the kids learn that impunity can be theirs if they are just violent enough.

Another task for Dr Mutton (h/t Rabz) if he gets over the line in next year’s federal election:

Funding for the ABC and SBS will be decided for five years at a time, rather than three, under new laws federal Labor says will help prevent “political interference” within the broadcasters.

Communications Minister Michelle Rowland has also announced a lift in funding for the ABC worth more than $40 million a year from 2026-27.

The funding boost effectively addresses a shortfall created by a freeze on indexation, introduced and eventually lifted under the former Coalition government.

Labor is promising to legislate to ensure governments commit to five-year funding cycles with both the ABC and SBS in future, rather than the previous convention of three years.

Given the new laws need to be drafted and consulted on, it is unlikely they can be acted on before the next election.

Even though the ABC primarily represents the Greens, that means everything it does is designed to benefit the fleas that ride on Labor’s back in government — and that means supporting the flea host.

Rowland is attempting to insulate the ABC from any sort of budget oversight because its political orientation is so strongly pro-Labor.

Male Cannabis Users Seem to Show Less Cognitive Decline, Study Finds : ScienceAlert

A decades-long study of more than 5,000 men in Denmark has now uncovered “no significant harmful effects of cannabis use on age-related cognitive decline.”

The findings stand in contrast to what has been found for a history of tobacco or excessive alcohol use, both of which are associated with faster cognitive decline. While more research is needed, especially among heavy, continuous cannabis users, this initial data is a positive sign.

Prohibition is just another example of governments and bods working in collusion to stop some of us having a good time.

Incest and pedophilia were banned before governments came along.

If alcohol were released today it would be banned. It is a carcinogen, a leading cause of violence and family breakdowns. It strips B vitamins from the blood, damages the gut and brain. In the interests of society no-one should promote drinking alcohol.

That’s the problem with prohibition, so much of it is politically motivated than based on evidence. Cannabis was initially banned for the benefit of other producers, since then it has been demonized and most people believe the stories. They even go so far as reject as rubbish any studies challenging the historical narrative and uncritically accepting studies supporting that.

The numbers sound plausible to me. Given the claimed pop. prior to late 2023, the size of the area, and the damage to the built area and infrastructure, around 5% casualties doesn’t sound fantastical.

Completely flawed logic.
If you pass a site where there has been a controlled demolition of an apartment block, do you say, “Gee, 600 people lived in there. 20-30 people must have been killed in the demolition”.
Because that has what the IDF have been doing. If they suspect (or know) that the terrorists are using a building as a command post or weapons storage, they issue ample warning for civilians to GTF out then implode it.
And they have destroyed a lot of buildings to avoid them being used to pincer their advancing forces. But always doing their best to avoid civilian casualties.
Sure, there have been civilians caught up in it, but to swallow the Raghead Ministry of Troof’s numbers whole?
Don’t be Comical Ali.
It’s not a good look.

If there HAD been that many deaths, it would have been documented. The filthy murderers would NEVER have missed the opportunity to display thousands of bodies ready to be shoveled into trenches.

There have been many screaming funeral processions shown, but not one burial.

Josh Hazelwood has been getting attention from the Australian team physios. The Fox commentators reckon he’s not quite right.

In other words, he bullshitted his way through last week’s fitness tests and was always carrying an injury.

It’s a fool’s mission to take injured players into a footy grand final and you certainly can’t do it in Test cricket when it’s the world no.1 versus world no.2.

The great news is that Scott Boland will more than likely be back into the side for the Boxing Day test at the MCG where he took 6-7 against England in the 2021-22 Ashes series.

Poms not going well. Currently 8/234 in their second innings chasing another 424 runs to win…

That or bat for a day and a half for a draw.

So far they seem to’ve decided to go down in blazing glory. Not much defensive batting in evidence.

So, prime ministers, archbishops, academics, editors and public broadcasters are all in the business of exaggerating the colonial sins of their own countries against noble (not-so-very) savages – from Vancouver to London to Sydney. Why?

I think there’s a simpler explanation than those which Professor Biggar offers: cowardice.

Fear of the activists, certainly; but also fear of taking a principled stand based on facts rather than emotions and being ostracised from the circle of the great and the good for it.

Nah. Ideology. The common factor with all those people is they are woke progressives. The religion they profess has immutable doctrines, one being colonialism bad.

Nah. Ideology.

The problem I have with that explanation is that they can’t define the ideology/religion or enunciate its articles of faith in any detail.

Rather, it’s a set of unexamined ideas, attitudes and phrases they acquire, via observation and mimicry, in their rise to the top that function as a shibboleth to determine who is in and who is out.

Every single woke progressive adheres to the tenet colonialism bad. As they do thermageddon and gender is whatever you want it to be. They do not need to enunciate the tenets because they all know what they are.

Helped by heretics, like J K Rowling, who trespass on only one single tenet and get cast out with great fanfare.

Rowland is attempting to insulate the ABC from any sort of budget oversight because its political orientation is so strongly pro-Labor.

Tom, even if they manage to pass the law it can also be repealed by the next parliament that does not have the Greens casting the deciding vote. If Dutton campaigns on cutting ABC’s and the SBS funding he will get more votes than Labor and the Greens. Both of them are on the nose with voters over many issues and the greatest grudge they bear is over the economy.

Reducing funding to the low-rated ABC and SBS can be sold as being economically astute especially when you suggest they can show ads if they want more money. It needs to be pointed out to voters that it’s only fair all media can have what they earn, like everybody else.

Only a historic landslide could do it, and even then there’re so many squishes in the Liberal Party that I doubt it could be gotten through. Libs seem to be able to cross the floor without penalty to vote for their cherished sacred cows.

A loudly announced policy of no Lib or Nat talking to ABC or SBS journos would be about the best feasible option. Stonewall them and cut them dead.

https://abs-0.twimg.com/emoji/v2/svg/203c.svg China’s economy is experiencing its largest financial collapse since its 2002 emergence into the WTO. 10-yr Chinese govt bonds now yield 1.75% and 30-yr bonds are also below 2%. Banks are insolvent and leverage is 350% of ‘reported’ GDP. The first 14 trillion RMB fill a hole.

Bass has been negative on China for over a decade now. The look-back is a stock market there that has been treading water for over a decade, so in some ways, he’s been right. Where he’s been wrong is in underestimating the size of the credit expansion that’s been allowed. At 350% of GDP, that bucket, as he suggests, “is now filled with concrete”.

The desperate regime is attempting to avoid the damage of a balance sheet recession, by trying to create income through exporting its way out their problems. We’ll see, however the bond market at 1.75% isn’t a good indicator.

I also note that Pesutto gave a less than decisive response to to an interview on SBS when he was asked if he supported Dutton’s Energy Proposal which includes the introduction of nuclear as well as maintenance of other energy sources sufficient to stabilize the grid. Is Pesutto a snake in the grass when it comes to the climate change hoax and to the costly, damaging wind and solar debacle pursued by the Greens and Labor. Japan Airlines’ pushes ‘rental clothes’ to travelers at their destination ‘to reduce the weight of baggage & reduce carbon emissions’ (15 Dec)

The grim environmental effects of flying were weighing on Miho Moriya. “I love to travel but also felt guilty about using flights that produce CO2,” says the 40-year-old accountant based in Japan. So when her employer, Japanese trading house Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group Inc., held its annual entrepreneurship competition in 2019, she pitched an idea that could make a tiny dent: a clothing-rental service for travelers. Instead of flyers hauling luggage—the weight adding to a plane’s carbon emissions—they could borrow clothes on the ground.

The idea became Any Wear, Anywhere, part of a venture between Sumitomo and Japan Airlines Co. Travelers arriving in Japan can now rent clothing for as little as $31 for up to two weeks, delivered to their hotel.

That’s fifty bucks Aussie for only two weeks? You could walk into Kmart and get a serviceable set of threads for that, and they wouldn’t have cooties.

Guardian Essential poll: Albanese disapproval at 50% as majority say Australia on the wrong track | Essential poll | The Guardian

Anthony Albanese has finished 2024 with his popularity in the doldrums but there is some hope for Labor’s political revival in the new year, with more Australians seeing better days ahead.
Those are the results of the final Guardian Essential poll of the year, in which many respondents confirmed that 2024 had been worse than they expected and they are worse off than three years ago, underscoring the difficulty for the federal government leading into an election year.

The poll of 1,151 voters found that the prime minister’s net approval rating is now -11, with 50% disapproving of the job he is doing (up three points since November) and 39% approving (down three).

Albanese’s rating is a bit better in his home state of New South Wales (minus 3), but worse in Queensland (minus 21), where Labor won just five seats at the 2022 election, and Western Australia (minus 17), which helped deliver Labor majority government with the pickup of four seats.

From the Oz.

Premier announces new protest laws in anti-Semitism crackdown

Victoria’s Labor government will move to ban terrorist flags and symbols in public, ban face coverings at protests, and introduce legislation to curb protests at places of worship.

This follows a terrorist arson attack on a Melbourne synagogue last week.

Premier Jacinta Allan, announcing the crackdown, said “all racism is evil, hateful, and corrosive”.

“Anti-Semitism is racism and there are too many who want to qualify anti-Semitism or make excuses for it.”

“We will ban the flags and symbols of listed terrorist organisations in public,” she said.

“That includes Hamas, Hezbollah and several other groups including white nationalist extremists and radical, racist, right-wing groups.

“We will also ban the use of face masks and balaclavas at protests. We know they are being used to conceal identity and shield agitators from crowd control measures like capsicum spray. Facemasks are not a free pass to break the law.

“We are also going to ban the use of rope, chains, locks and other dangerous attachment devices that protesters used to cause maximum disruption and endanger others.”

She also outlined legislation to curb protest at places of worship.

“We will legislate to protect the right for people to gather and pray free from fear and harassment and intimidation from protesters,” she said.

“We will also legislate to thwart protests and disturbances at synagogues, temples, mosques, anywhere in Victoria where Victorians are simply undertaking their fundamental right of religious freedom.”

Apologies for any occasional mispelling of Mayotte, the island that was in the eye of the cyclone we avoided.

We are presently sailing into Muscat at the top of Oman very near the entrance to the Straits of Hormuz, through which passes a major part of the world’s oil from the Persian Gulf countries. We will be visiting three cities of the United Arab Emirates now in a criss-crossing of this gulf. The countries in this region like the Emirates, that have diversified their economies from dependence on oil riches into financial hubs now welcome much of the world’s wealth for investment and safe keeping in tax havens.

Will report back more later. Right now want to enjoy passing by snaggle toothed mountains in a seried range right down to the sea as we enter port, with ancient forts on entry peaks and on a higher peak slightly more set back an amazing white but huge eggform of an Islamic religious building within the cup of which sits half a white domed ‘egg’, intercut with arches and other filigree architecture. 52 C is the outside temperature at times here in Oman and always has been so. It’s only temperate today though, a pleasant 25 C. Winter season, which is dry, coming in soon.
The museum explained how loose white clothing (worn by the men traditionally) worked to ventilate the body and keep out excess hot air. Makes sense. Woman don’t wear white though, stay indoors and by tradition wear dark cloth that is often light in weave and embroidered.

Today western dress is also worn.

Residents of Syrian Golan villages, rebels transfer Assad weapons to IDF – report (JPost, 16 Dec)

Villagers and rebels in the Syrian Golan and around the buffer zone have been transferring weapons from the previous regime to the IDF to be taken to Israel, N12 revealed in exclusive footage on Monday.

The footage shows residents of Syrian villages and rebels loading trucks with hundreds of boxes of ammunition, mortars, bombs, and grenades and transferring them to the IDF.

Unthinkable even a month ago, they would’ve been arrested and tortured.

Major update after baby’s skull bashed in alleged violent home invasionAlexandra FeiamNewsWire
Tue, 17 December 2024 10:59AM

There has been a major update on the condition of a baby whose skull was fractured during a violent home invasion in Alice Springs.
Nicole Siguenza was home with her five children and holding her two-month-old daughter, Antonia, on Wednesday December 11 when two teenagers allegedly broke into her house on Bokhara St in Alice Springs.
It’s understood one of the teenagers searched the house while another threatened the woman with a metal object before striking her and the newborn, fracturing the baby’s skull.

The baby was rushed to Alice Springs Hospital with a fractured skull and brain bleed before being flown down to Adelaide for further medical treatment.
The teenagers involved in the alleged home invasion, aged 16 and 17, were apprehended by NT Police a short time later, with one placed under arrest and the other allegedly fleeing in a car.
Following a short vehicle pursuit with police, the second teenager was arrested.
Both have been charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, unlawfully cause serious harm, aggravated assault and theft.
Over the weekend, Antonia’s dad Marlon Siguenza flew to Adelaide to be with his wife and young daughter while their four children remain back in Alice Springs.
A week on from the horrific home invasion, Mr Siguenza shared a heartwarming update on the infant, whom he called a “little fighter”.
“The fracture itself that she received on the skull has gone in a couple of directions but the neurosurgeon is confident that over time she’ll make a great recovery because of her size and how young she is,” he said per the ABC.
Mr Siguenza added his daughter had been suffering seizures as a result of the fracture, though they hadn’t returned since Friday.
“(On Sunday) she smiled, reacted to sounds — it was wonderful to see,” he said.
While she’s “doing better”, there is still a long road to recovery for the two-month-old.
“She’s not in the clear just yet, but she is definitely taking steps forward, one at a time,” Mr Siguenza added.
Following the home invasion, a GoFundMe campaign was set up to support the family. It has since raised more than $50,000, more than doubling its initial $20,000 goal.

A study published by astronomers at the Max Planck Institute has concluded that, based on observations made by the Kepler space telescope, the occurrence rate of superflares from stars just like our sun may occur much more often than previously thought.

Well, yes, obviously.

Picking on Jews for all your ills is pointless and just rude.

Fearing Islam for no reason is also pointless and rude.

However, fearing islam because a large proportion of islamists will not condemn violence against the infidels is not a phobia of any description whatsoever – it is a fear well based in historical precedent and current events.

So minister, will you address this real fear? Will you put the fear of God into those who would kill and enslave us because we do not believe as they do? Or will you instead stick your head in the sand because you think it won;t happen on your watch, and it will be somebody else’s problem when it does happen?

No wonder they were reluctant to say anything about the shooter.

Shooter at Abundant Life Christian School in Wisconsin ID’d as 15-year-old Natalie ‘Samantha’ Rupnow (16 Dec)

An alleged manifesto espousing radical, hateful views is circulating online that social media accounts claim belonged to Rupnow – but Barnes said police have not yet been able to confirm that document.

“We haven’t been able to verify that it’s authentic, we’re certainly aware that it’s been posted,” he said, adding his department is working with the FBI to review some of the things written in the document.

FBI swatted her home today, and Madison is a “hot-bed of anti-Christian radicalism” apparently*. Starting to see a common thread here.

The Police Chief is copping grief for this statement. During a Monday night press conference, Madison Chief of Police Shon Barnes was asked about transgender rumors regarding the alleged shooter, and he suggested how “she or he or they may have wanted to identify” had nothing to do with the events that took place. I agree with his POV because he is dealing with the moment and the immediate aftermath. He is dealing with the carnage, grieving parents, traumatized students, media, clean-up, etc. At that particular stage it doesn’t matter what colour sex, gender, political bent or chosen identity the perp was. It’s irrelevant to his job.

Cats will recall when, during Trump’s first term, Trudeau designer and controller, the ‘widely respected’ Chrystia Freeland, often entered the US and partook in anti-Trump activities.

In most cases her outrages were under the cover of international events, but the commie hag was almost always off script and teamed up with the worst of the pussy hat frauds to cause trouble in someone else’s country. She also joined with catwalk dolly Merkel and the EU hate team to attack Trump at every opportunity.

What a pleasure it is to see Rainbow Sparkles rageing about Trump handing it back to Canada. “National soveriginity” apparently is important again.

As a slithering commie will not get what she deserves but it is a true joy watching her go down. Canada’s climb back will be traumatic.

Poilievre faces a much more difficult task than Trump. He must avoid the traps laid by the endless Human Rights gestapo, every professional body, corrupt police, communist provinces, rogue banks, US haters and terrorists imported by the Liberals. It is extraordinary that he remains so calm.

We are presently sailing into Muscat at the top of Oman very near the entrance to the Straits of Hormuz, through which passes a major part of the world’s oil from the Persian Gulf countries.

Lizzie, we love Oman! Years ago, on the recommendation of an airline pilot friend who travelled in his time off through Oman by car, we hired a Landcruiser in Muscat and drove down to Sur and back. The most adventurous was a late afternoon drive on a pretty average track into “The Empty Quarter” (aka the desert!) to a camp which accomodated tourists. Husband, who is used to outback conditions, nevertheless had, much to the enjoyment of the Omanis, great difficulty in negotiating the sand dune on which the camp was located. But it was an experience of a lifetime – especially watching sunset on the dune.

Our favourite Islamic country. They are “Ibadi” Muslims, as I recall, and are less doctrinaire than other Muslims, and very used to foreigners – no doubt because of their history as traders.

The trouble was centred on Bankstown, southwest Sydney, where 3,500 customers were affected and at 2pm the temperature had hit 37C.
An Ausgrid spokesperson said the cause had yet to be identified, but ‘there’s certainly a higher chance of it occurring on a day like today, when we have higher demand across the network’.
In neighbouring Condell Park, there were 1,900 customers without power.
And in Denistone, northwest Sydney, where it was also 37C, there were 1,200 sites without power.”

His assistant also d*ed in the blast. Kirillov is infamous for publishing data that claimed “Pentagon b*olabs in Ukraine were spreading biological weapons into Russia using bats and birds.” A Ukrainian court had sentenced Kirillov less than 24 hours before the blast for the use of banned chemical weapons during Russia’s invasion of the country. It is unknown if Ukrainian President Zelensky gave any ‘order’ to assass*nate Kirillov. President-Elect Donald Trump has pledged to work towards a peace deal with Russian President Putin and Ukrainian President Zelensky. This is a significant escalation of Russia-Ukrainian tensions ahead of Trump’s return to the White House.

IF there is a “missing” warhead and it is in “the wrong hands” it may end up in a nondescript shipping container, “somewhere”, in the US, probably on the eastern seaboard and in or near the “golden triangle” containing New York and Washington. Check out the number of shipping containers moved or present EACH DAY in those ports.

Bear in mind that these devices require regular inspection for “stability” and “primary’ function” (Pre detonation). HOWEVER, if one is partially degraded, it may just “fizzle”, with the core melting from the initial heat generated as the material goes “critical”.

The bad news is that in this process, there WILL be a pulse of invisible, but very nasty radiation, similar to that which is emitted from EVERY Nuke, just before detonation. When the nazis “tested” their first “devices”, they deliberately set them up to do just this; LOTS of radiation, a bit of a flash of visible light, but NO BIG BANG. Several hundred “prisoners” were the “crash-test dummies”. Their bodies were rounded up and burnt TWICE. and “disappeared”. The actual site is still there, in a forest on a German Military testing (conventional only) area. THIS is why the two bombs dropped on Japan, were detonated at height above their targets The radiation pulse started the process by “snap-frying” everything within a few thousand metres. (Note the post action photos of “Shadows” of people on still standing walls, etc.)

What might motivate such a horrendous “revisiting” of those two grim days is up for any amount of wild speculation..

Clue: Who would stand to benefit / take advantage of such a thing? See: “Enemies foreign and domestic”. as referred to in the US Pledge of allegiance and the Congressional Oath of Office.

Weak Ge-68 isotope source for PET scans. Would not be many of them in the container since the half life is 271 days and thus they have to be regularly replaced. Only a small unit as far as I can see, smaller than a ball point pen. Why it should be in a shipping container I have no idea.

From the looks of it, the amount is about what you’d get in five fire alarms.
In other words, there isn’t enough material to go critical. Unless you exploded a nuke on top of it.
These people would have the fire alarms travelling in a lead box a foot thick, preceded by a man carrying a red flag and a ‘woop woop’ siren, and in streets that had been cleared of all traffic.

School teaching is theoretically a very demanding job, and a very important one to get right. I admire those who take it seriously and do it conscientiously. Unfortunately it is controlled by educational types and the teacher’s union, people who have opted for being bureaucrats instead of good teachers. It being so much easier.

Which is why I left the classroom and kids I loved teaching for life away from the unionists, brown-nosers and suck-ups.

It also was clear by 1980 that pedagogical nonsense was replacing classroom management and direct instruction. I knew it wasn’t heading in any direction I wanted to go.

Yeah, yeah, teachers are an easy target, I get it. I have in times past made many similar comments about my past colleagues.
But in their defence reluctantly, I have to state that many people complaining about them wouldn’t last a week in the job, and many, many have a very unrealistic view of how their very own children behave at school.
I invite you to try it.
Go into a classroom and try to get and keep the attention of 25+ hormonal and immature human primate individuals long enough to teach them something.
Now try doing the same if you graduated from a university course with the lowest entry score anywhere or time in history, and you only have a sub 95 IQ.
It’s amazing they do as good as they do do.
Aircon?
You’re lucky your child’s teacher knows to turn it on it the first place and doesn’t just sit there like a frog in a pot. Or is able to trust the little monsters long enough to turn their attention momentarily to a thermostat at the risk of murder, rioting or arson.
Stop complaining.

The silence surrounding Molan’s sacking is frightening.
Who amongst the Jew haters engineered the coup.

There’s no anti-Semitic conspiracy. Molan had a show during a dead zone, it’s been axed. I hope they can find another role for her, meanwhile I suspect she’ll set up a Youtube channel. She’s already very popular overseas.

I don’t think there’s many, if any, Jew haters at Sky Oz. Sky’s the home of Sharri Markson, Andrew Bolt, Peta Credlin, Chris Kenny, Rowan Dean, James Macpherson, James Morrow and Rita Panahi, ALL vociferous supporters of Australian Jews and Israel. Sky produced the excellent Frydenberg documentary on Jew hatred in this country earlier this year, Ruperdink visited the torched synagogue last week with his Jewish wife and pledged $150K to it’s rebuilding. I know that the Murdoch family have given over $2million to fighting Jew hatred since October 7.

Erin was the host of a serious current affairs programme and her commentary was usually spot on. I have opined on this before.

The people responsible for their child’s worldview, attitude towards life, development of actual life skills, behavioural issues and their problem solving abilities – let alone their individual ethics and moral compasses are not the teachers.

They are the parents. Any attempt to deflect otherwise – to use just one example, ‘My child believes in climate change because the teacher said so’ – needs to re-evaluate what they have done, and how invested they are in their child’s future.

Hint: It is not outsourcing it to 23 year old uni graduates.

Well stated KD. We have to stop thinking that teachers should be moral guardians. It is an outrageous, sinister hubris not driven by teachers but by indoctrinated individuals in education departments so arrogant they believe it is their right to violate the rights of parents to raise their children according to their values.

Best Man never counted himself a gardener until a (long time gardener) church buddy issued a challenge: best layout, best variation, best results. And all at once, he’s found his green thumb.

Harvested to date: cucumbers, zucchinis, cabbages, leeks, mini flavour-bomb tomatoes, rhubarb, cherries, apricots, cucumbers, zucchinis, capsicum, pumpkins, spinach, herbs and did I mention cucumbers and zucchinis?

Coming up: almonds, peaches, parsnips, corn, nectarines, raspberries, apples-apples-apples, beans, snow peas, plums, beetroot, radishes, grown-up-tomatoes and cucumbers and zucchinis.

My man is a winner!

India need 21 runs, with one wicket in hand, to save their match.

Means Australia have to win last two tests to win back the Border Trophy

Not quite.
One-all after two.
If they draw this one they only need to win one more to take the series.
But the 7-11s have avoided the follow on, so Straya would have to get the last wicket, knock up a quick target, declare and try to bowl the Injuns out. But what is a tough target in these days of T-20?
Particularly seeing as how they’ve carried an injury prone bowler into the game and he’s blown up.
And I don’t think the weather will be great either.

Re the teaching discussion:

‘Multilevel classes’ aren’t equitable or excellent, say teachers. (13 Dec)

Mixing high-achieving, average and low-achieving students in the same class was a noble experiment, writes Ryan Normandin, a high school math and physics teacher in Newton, Massachusetts. But it’s not working in math, science and foreign language classes. Everyone learns less, he writes. The students who need the most support are doing the worst.

Ignore the headline, which is woke, and focus on the observation. In short we should go back to the old days of 4A, 4B and 4C, so that the poor teacher can actually teach to the ability of the class. That way the 4A’s can be mustang and the 4C’s can at least learn to read and write.

As somebody wrote above, any new law will be applied selectively.

I caught up with a cousin from Melbourne. Her understanding is that the two Jews in the shul when it was torched are lucky to be alive.

Lisa Wilkinson is finding out the hard way that you agree to costs before you start any litigation.
In writing so there is zero issues later.

Because she & Sue C’s firm couldn’t produce an executed cost agreement, Channel 10 are disputing everything.

She’s had an expensive week having to pick up all the costs (hers & Channel 10’s) for a federal court hearing related to the costs dispute with Channel 10.

Recently Lisa had a pay half of the costs for the external mediator.
And all her lawyers preparation & appearance fees for the mediation.

Bottom line, Channel 10 must hate her guts to haul her over the coals like this.
As Keating once said “I want to do you slowly”.

The common law is pretty clear.
No signed costs agreement, depending on how something turns out, it’s either the lawyers or client swinging in the wind.

Someone is clearly bankrolling the enduring mediocrity and unelectability of the disasterstan gliberals

Ahem, that would be the following rogues gallery:

Kroges, Kennotto, Ded Flailieu, “Hi Alan” Schlockdale and Denny Naptime.

Why they are doing this would be due to the fact that they no longer seek power, which at this stage would be little more than a poisoned chalice. The economy there is beyond resurrection, even with the inevitable taxpayer bailouts from other states – the allocation of which might be avoided if the gliberals win the next feral erection.

Anyway, time to turn off the “Grate Mass Debate” on Sky in the background, featuring Liz “Foghorn” Storer, Joe “I’m a labore shill” Hildebeast and some bimbo whose name I’m (thankfully) not aware of.

In which case, applying any new law selectively wouldn’t be of any benefit to them politically. For that benefit to accrue they need to be seen to follow through without discrimination. If an incident were to happen due to inconsistent application, they’d be doubly condemned.

Further, but in the jurisdiction of NSW, have the protests in the vicinity of the Great Synagogue had court permits issued? If so, that would make it difficult for anyone participating to be charged under existing laws as they have a legal right to be there. That raises questions about NSW police not challenging the permits more vigorously. This may be the problem Minns is attempting to get around with new laws. I won’t, however, give him much credit for that. This issue has been festering for more than 12 months.

Hell yes!
I helped at all three schools my son was at, and I miss being around children.
Because of distance, I only see my borrowed grandees around once a month.

Kids are too important to waste your time showing a crap teacher that they are crap.

Until it is literally bored out of them, children have an innate sense of who has their best interests in mind.

Muscat, Capital of Oman

Our sailout from Oman is at a tranquil dusk in a romantic blue haze of lights from the shore and the gathering night behind the snaggle-toothed mountain ranges that reach down to the sea in this ancient trading port. Oman is just before the Straits of Hormuz, a world-class hot spot for trouble as so much oil is transported this way from the inner Persian Gulf. Oman has Yemen as its southern neighbour and from what we know of Yemen the contrast could not be greater.

Oman is a seriously wealthy highly-organised and controlled country of five million, where three million are guest-type workers from elsewhere. The local Omanis do very well out of their benevolent dictatorship which began in 1970 with the revered and recently departed this life Sultan Qaboos who died in 2021 and his successor Sultan of the same family is now known as His Majesty, the King as well as Sultan. Prior to 1970 they had a ‘bad Sultan’ for about 40 years, who had Taliban-type proscriptions and set the country backwards fast. Sultan Qaboos changed all of that and Oman now goes from strength to strength in producing modern infrastructure and a diversifying economy, especially in Islamic services and investment. Another ‘great man in history’ story.

The place is rich, well-governed, full of beautiful perfumed gardens with highly curated flower-beds and small shaped trees, and many other bigger trees everywhere, watered with groundwater pumped up everywhere over the city, making a green oasis at the foot of these bald mountain ranges. In a four hour tour I did not spot one thing, large or even tiny, that could be called litter. The place is more spotless than Switzerland. Crime is low, and maybe Sharia law is used as a deterrence; laws are certainly applied if you run a red-light – there is a mandatory day or more in prison for that. Our tour bus was pulled over by police for some misdemeanor for which the driver, in full traditional workers’ loose garb, was responsible; two female policewomen in fatigue tops and pants and hijabs were in the car that pulled him over and booked him.

Our tour guide, dressed in traditional loose gown and turban headpiece as they all were, and as all civil servants including teachers should dress, was a mountain man who extolled to us the virtues of life in the deserts and mountains, urging us to try some of the 5-star resorts there for ‘your next visit’. The policewomen were an example of what he told us – that women can do any job here that is open to a man. Women are ‘free’ he says to dress as they wish and need not cover their heads. This applies I think far more to guest-workers than locals and the dress code is proudly adhered to in the public sector.

The country is run as a benevolent dictatorship, but there are ways in which people can be represented. The Sultan choses the Cabinet members who make decisions but they are acutely aware that localism rules here as in many Middle Eastern previously tribal countries. Therefore, each area can elect a representative to present complaints and suggestions to the Sultan and reps can meet the Sultan as a group or individually. Women can vote here and can also stand for election as area reps. Polygamy is permitted but within strict laws concerned fairness to all wives; I have one wife, says our guide because I have only one head for the headaches; and I tell my wife I have only one wife because I only have one heart, and it is hers.  He was a very charming and sophisticated man, so very proud of his country and its tolerant modernity, its major trading antecedents making it tolerant more than more isolated lands. It is also very expensive to maintain multiple wives and most men don’t do it.

The revered Sultan Qaboos has used his influence and money to create one of the grandest Islamic mosques of the modern world. I can do it no justice regarding its splendor and grandeur, with its twenty-ton two thousand light central chandelier under a high dome, surrounded by other smaller ones dotted all over the high ceilings, lighting up the largest woven Persian carpet in the world, in an area where 20,000 worshippers can stand bowed on State occasions, fewer if they worship on the floor. Women have a separate area beautifully ceilinged with the wood carving for which this city is famed, this lovely wood-turning technology stemming from the heritage of the ancient Portuguese forts and the ship-building industry that has existed for centuries in this trading nation.

Everything is very pin-perfect and gracious. We women had to wear conservative clothing for the mosque visit. One woman was having difficulty with a silk scarf she had with her and the guide attemped to help but seemed embarrassed to touch her. Let me help, I offered, and to my own amazement I triangled a beautiful hijab tied neatly at the back, tucking all of her blonde hair in under it. I had done the same earlier for myself with a cashmere stole, which was a bit warm. We were all glad to free up our hair when we came out of the mosque, shoes back on and socks ready for the wash, although I must say those floors were spotless.

I had to take care walking around all of the marbled gardens with sox on, and at the Sultan’s ceremonial and administrative palace (he lives elsewhere in splendour) which we visited later, for there were a number of large marble steps to negotiate without handrails, and I was mindful of Nancy Pelosi’s fate on such things. All of the older women, I noted, were taking extra care there and glad to put our shoes on our feet again, which helped.  This mosque struck us similar to the Western medieval cathedral building, or the Taj Mahal: the result of one man’s passion for religious glory, strongly supported by his people in that. The nearest thing the West has is Barcelona’s grand Famiglia cathedral, which has not been built with anything like the same speed. As we passed by the harbourfront drive our guide pointed to a small and smart liner anchored in the bay: the Sultan’s personal ship.

At the palace and the mosque, both set within the circle of large bald rocks that became mountains behind, with the most carefully tended gardens, Hairy and I were both conscious of a very peaceful and quiet ambiance, which was enjoyable and somewhat hard to leave. We had previously been shopping in a busy souk, and the general harassment level from the traders was something we were glad to escape. I did buy some trinkets for the grandchildren, and once that is seen then you are fair game for pashminas and other goods to be thrust at you from all sides. Louis Voutin, very cheap, very goodod, Modom. Yes, surely so, I nod as we pushed through back to the bus.

A visit also to the National Museum showed off with expensive flair the pride this Emirate country takes in its heritage of costume and armory. We could also take coffee there in another perfumed garden. The topiary everywhere was part clearly of the architectural effect, setting off the national architecture into a notable Emirati style. Building is strictly controlled in style, mostly white or more recently a dun colour, and flat roofed, and sold only the locals, not visitors. Taxation has recently been introduced under the new Sultan, who has less wherewithal to provide everything for free for all citizens as in past times. One gets hints of changes about which not all are happy. But dissent seems low in this ordered world.

There were no dress codes or requirements for women to hide our hair under a cover of any sort when we did a tour of the largest mosque in Casablanca. Only had to take off our shoes. Not that there were skimpy tops or short shorts among our group, mostly of a certain age.

Same for a mosque we visited in Cairo, Crossie. The Oman mosque in Muscat is the Islamic world’s pride and joy, and so they take special care of religious respect there. Police at the entrance refuse to admit all with infringements. Some Japanese women were told they could buy appropriate coverings at the nearby shop, which were actually quite attractive when on them. Only one man was pulled up, for wearing shorts, and emerged soon having purchased what looked like a white flowing nightshirt. Men do have it easier, of course, says Hairy, who refused to wear a long sleeved shirt as the other tourists did and kept to a polo t-shirt. He was still admitted.

It’s female flesh and hair showing that is their problem, he said from the start.

Nice. And the the difference in countries that are tolerant of differences in people who visit.
I wish it were the same all over the world, but unfortunately it isn’t.
Imagine the Middle East under the rule of this one man.

It certainly showed the best and most adaptive form of Islam and offered hope for a future of accommodation with the West rather than take-over.

Avi Yemeni reports as follows on the perfidious Victoriastan:

Jacinta Allan is back to her old tricks!

Victoria’s new mask ban was announced with the stated goal of stopping violent protesters from hiding their identities, but there’s a huge loophole that makes this crackdown almost useless.

The new law won’t stop left-wing extremists or radical Islamist protesters from continuing to hide behind medical masks and cultural or religious head coverings, which are all bizarrely exempt from the proposed restrictions.

That loophole was apparent from the moment I read the initial report.

This story about an NDIS recipient is bad news, but hardly surprising given what we know about the slipshod design and implementation of the program:

This isn’t the first time Mike’s family have lost contact with him after he’s been taken in by people his family had concerns about.

For most of last year, he was with different providers who kept him in a share house in Maidstone in Melbourne’s west, and drained his plan of $460,000 by billing the NDIS for support services.

At the same time, they were allegedly supplying him with drugs such as GHB and ice, as well as vapes, to keep him with them.

“That time was just an absolute nightmare,” Sarah said.
At that time, Mike was totally in control of his NDIS funds and who he chose to spend it with.

What attracted my attention is that this guy, who has an acquired brain injury and serious mental health problems, has a budget of $670k a year to look after him. That’s a lot of money, and no wonder the flies are swarming around the honeypot. What’s more, until recently, he was in charge of it.

How can we afford this? How many taxpayers who get up and go to work every day do it solely to support ‘Mike’ and the leeches that surround him?

Meanwhile, people who are not eligible for the NDIS are sleeping in their cars or under bridges because they can’t find or afford a home.

We have two-tier welfare in this country.

That sort of funding is unsustainable. If he needs that much care then he needs to be in a nursing home. At least those places are accredited and inspected regularly. You want to work in the NDIS industry, work in a nursing home.

Look at the photo of the pair of ‘new providers’ and the word ‘scam’ immediately pops into mind.

Thanks Johanna —

This story about an NDIS recipient is bad news, but hardly surprising given what we know about the slipshod design and implementation of the program:

this is outrageous but unsurprising and not an unusual story, given that many activist/advocates want to isolate people with disabilities from their families and friends (because supposedly families are the enemy) who give a crap about them —

Not everyone with a disability will be eligible for the NDIS it was meant for people who cannot in any way direct their lives, or undertake daily tasks/functions (I won’t go into details) without assistance and supervision.

The legislation has always been loosey goosey (after all it is Labor party legislation) and the design and administration has been created in the image of the bureacracy.

Skimming TheirABC this morning, came across this at the top of a story about domestic violence:

WARNING: This story contains detail that may be distressing for some readers.

Talk about content-free virtue-signalling.

What does it mean? Who is likely to be distressed? Why?

Leaving aside the whole question of ‘trigger warnings’ as a concept, how exactly is this supposed to help anyone? How does a prospective reader know if he or she is among the ‘some readers’ who might be distressed?

It’s embarrassing undergraduate activism, and paid for by us.

First domino is going down

The Committee on House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight Chairman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) released a second report on the events surrounding January 6 as well his investigation into the weaponized J6 Committee on Tuesday.

The timeline goes like this:
– Cassidy Hutchinson does 3 interviews with the J6 Committee
– Alyssa Farah connects Hutchinson with Liz Cheney and they start directly communicating, a blatant ethics violation.
– Liz Cheney convinces her to replace her lawyer with a liberal activist
– Hutchinson does her 4th interview in which she begins making all of her outlandish claims to the committee.
– Those claims turn out to be false.
– The J6 Committee deletes over one terabyte worth of data before the new GOP majority took over.

Basically, Liz Cheney committed criminal witness tampering in order to derail President Trump and she has been referred for criminal investigation for witness tampering.
