Look at the plethora of parasites we are forced to pay for who’s effects on society at large are almost entirely negative.

That odious Jew hating whackerdemic on $800,000, the Langton’s and other professional blackfellahs, and the enormous number of whining agitators who’s only modest request is we completely dismantle society to chase rainbows and unicorn farts.

Entire industries of grievance paying people 6 figures gained by stealing from people on 5 figures.

Bloomberg Flubs Data For Bombshell Report That Only 6% Of New Corporate Hires Are White (29 Dec)

Bloomberg publish a (visually) clever statistical analysis of the triumph of DEI that explains the “flub”. The 6% is based on the Top 100 companies who are obliged to report DEI – so very for from representing the US population.

The statistics are however highly revealing:

Asians are massively over-represented in the professions and managerial demographics;

Blacks and Hispanics massively over-represented in the peon demographic.

And, separately reported, women of all shades are not benefiting from DEI.

Safe to conclude that as social engineering policies go, DEI is a far cup on stilts. Perhaps not a surprise that companies are unwinding.

Also Bruce:

DEI at work. I said yesterday that was the reason the white guy with straight As couldn’t get a job.

Not sure who the white guy with straight A’s was, but I’d guess there’s just a possibility that there is a back story behind his apparent unemployment.

My Mum had two favourite shops, Sportscraft and Spotlight.

Today I met a friend and we went fabric and button shopping at Spotlight Bondi Junction. Whilst enjoyable, it wasn’t the same as going with Mum. I would normally go to Spotlight with Mum and whilst I would get lost in the craft and knitting section, Mum would spend ages in the Manchester section and she’d walk out with sheets and towels that she’d put into a cupboard when home and then forget about.

I miss my Mum.

This is what Vivek said which sparked the bullshit controversy led by fringe loons like Big Boobs Loomer and the grubs of the MSM who have lied about Trump for 10 years. Every word Vivek says is right and describes what is wrong and self indulgent about the West:

(14) Vivek Ramaswamy on X: “The reason top tech companies often hire foreign-born & first-generation engineers over “native” Americans isn’t because of an innate American IQ deficit (a lazy & wrong explanation). A key part of it comes down to the c-word: culture. Tough questions demand tough answers & if” / X

The reason top tech companies often hire foreign-born & first-generation engineers over “native” Americans isn’t because of an innate American IQ deficit (a lazy & wrong explanation). A key part of it comes down to the c-word: culture. Tough questions demand tough answers & if we’re really serious about fixing the problem, we have to confront the TRUTH:

Our American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long (at least since the 90s and likely longer). That doesn’t start in college, it starts YOUNG.

A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers.

A culture that venerates Cory from “Boy Meets World,” or Zach & Slater over Screech in “Saved by the Bell,” or ‘Stefan’ over Steve Urkel in “Family Matters,” will not produce the best engineers.

(Fact: I know *multiple* sets of immigrant parents in the 90s who actively limited how much their kids could watch those TV shows precisely because they promoted mediocrity…and their kids went on to become wildly successful STEM graduates).

More movies like Whiplash, fewer reruns of “Friends.” More math tutoring, fewer sleepovers. More weekend science competitions, fewer Saturday morning cartoons. More books, less TV. More creating, less “chillin.” More extracurriculars, less “hanging out at the mall.”

Most normal American parents look skeptically at “those kinds of parents.” More normal American kids view such “those kinds of kids” with scorn. If you grow up aspiring to normalcy, normalcy is what you will achieve.

Now close your eyes & visualize which families you knew in the 90s (or even now) who raise their kids according to one model versus the other. Be brutally honest.

“Normalcy” doesn’t cut it in a hyper-competitive global market for technical talent. And if we pretend like it does, we’ll have our asses handed to us by China.

This can be our Sputnik moment. We’ve awaken from slumber before & we can do it again. Trump’s election hopefully marks the beginning of a new golden era in America, but only if our culture fully wakes up. A culture that once again prioritizes achievement over normalcy; excellence over mediocrity; nerdiness over conformity; hard work over laziness.

That’s the work we have cut out for us, rather than wallowing in victimhood & just wishing (or legislating) alternative hiring practices into existence. I’m confident we can do it. https://abs-0.twimg.com/emoji/v2/svg/1f1fa-1f1f8.svg https://abs-0.twimg.com/emoji/v2/svg/1f1fa-1f1f8.svg

Yep. Labor are phuckwits but you knew that, picking up the thread left by previous comments:

The Victorian Labor Party have been slammed after launching a personal attack on Liberal Leader Peter Dutton and his wife Kirilly on social media, referring to him as a “monster” partner

Of course, when questions were asked about the Sprog of Luigi being granted membership of the Chairman’s Lounge, Luigi hit the phones to editors with the plaintive cry to “leave family out of it”.
There is a world of difference between asking how a relative of a PM might be granted privileges not available to others, and attacking the spouse of a public figure who has not sought the limelight or done anything questionable.
I hope Dutton warns Luigi that, if they keep throwing shit, there will be a return of serve.

Time for a trip to Sportscraft, Cassie. For yourself.
They’ve been having great sales recently at Rose Bay. Enjoy.

Mum and I used to always to go to Sportscraft Double Bay. After we’d shopped at Sportscraft, we go to Cafe 21 for lunch and or coffee and pancakes. Mum had been dining at 21 since the early 1960s, not long after it opened. It’s a hub of Jewish Sydney, very Hungarian, it serves Vienna schnitzels, Hungarian pancakes, shopped liver, matza ball soup and so on. It’s an institution. I haven’t been to 21 since Mum passed away, I’m almost scared.

Sportscraft closed the Double Bay store midyear. Mum was quite upset, I now think it was an omen.

Lizzie, when you’re back, let’s go to Sportscraft Rose Bay and then we can head back down the hill to to Cafe 21 in Double Bay.

I think Dutton has already handled this with great aplomb…..unlike the idiot Morrison.

The Oz is reporting……

With the election due to be called within months, and possibly as soon as the end of January, Opposition Leader vowed his campaign would be clean and would not target family members such as the Prime Minister’s fiancee Jodie Haydon.

“I can assure you the Liberal Party I lead will not be targeting Jodie Haydon,” the Opposition Leader said in a statement.

“I respect and like Jodie but she is not an elected official and will not be the subject of humiliation, attack ads or public smear by the Liberal Party.

“I would ask the PM to equally respect my wife.”

A spokesperson for the Prime Minister said later: “When the tweet was drawn to his attention, the Prime Minister demanded it be taken down. Families should be off limits.”

Nice, very nice Mr Dutton.

I really think Rohit Sharma’s time is up as both skipper and player, which is a shame because he’s been at the top of the tree for years. The only question is who to give the captain’s hat to, and the only real candidate is KL Rahul.

Kohli should be gonski, but he won’t because he’s such a deity that he’ll get to choose when he goes – which I think will be at the end of the Sydney Test and series, unless he wants to finish in India.

I mentioned this story yesterday but this version from Sky News is worthwhile because of the serve Duniam gives to Albo and Bowen:

Jonathon Duniam tears into Labor’s green energy ‘zealotry’ after $2b offshore wind proposal application gets withdrawn (30 Dec)

German company Skyborn Renewables and Australis Energy withdrew their application for the almost $2b South Australian offshore wind farm known as the Kingston project this month without explanation, according to The Australian.

The dwindling output of wind projects sparked outcry from shadow environment minister Jonathon Duniam who lambasted Labor’s green energy approach.

“What is it gonna take for these people to drop their relentless zealotry?” Mr Duniam told Sky News on Monday evening.

“They’re wedded to green ideology, which is not achieving any of the things they promised or said that it would or any of the things that we actually need which is a lower set of power prices across the country and a functioning economy.

“They’re doing everything they can to stop it and… (Energy Minister) Chris Bowen has no idea what he’s doing and the government is all at sea on these kinds of issues.”

He highlighted high power prices that continue to plague Aussies struggling with cost-of-living woes and the difficulties the nation faces in bolstering energy supply.

He goes on a fair bit more, which I won’t put up for reasons of length. But nice barbs Mr Duniam! I didn’t realize the cancelled wind farm was an offshore one, which suggests the companies pulled out because it wasn’t going to be economic.

Rain due today in our valley. Thank the Lord. NPWS has sent in choppers with water & our bushfire in the adjacent range, which burst into our lives two days ago, appears to have to have submitted somewhat. Hopefully even a small amount of rain may render it less dangerous. Even so, the fire started (lightening? Bush walkers?) in an area with difficult access & no access for machinery. It is virtually impossible to be sure that no hot spots remain.

Next week we are having a community meeting to discuss attention to the containment lines that have become overgrown since our last big fire 5 years ago.

The Trump and E. Jean Carroll case illustrates a couple of things – firstly that a Manhattan jury will find a ham sandwich guilty if it’s not a leftist one.
Secondly, and much more importantly, there’s the repeat pattern of allegations of sexual misbehaviour, calculated to smear in the eyes of the religious right. They used it against Clarence Thomas, they used it against Kavanah. They have used it against Trump.
And again, the media, which should be on the side of truth and real justice, are players.

Someone else also got the same degree with first class honours after years of many hours of forced piano practice, regular beatings, and constant pressure, and is quite gloomy and anxious and never plays the piano .

THE LAW FIRM WILLKIE FARR & GALLAGHER’S POLITICALLY MOTIVATED LAWFARE AGAINST MAYOR RUDY GIULIANI

Why is @WillkieFarr’s Michael Gottlieb—a former law partner of Hunter Biden who worked on business matters surrounding the crooked Ukrainian energy company Burisma that paid the Biden’s MILLIONS OF DOLLARS—continuing the politically motivated lawfare against Mayor
@RudyGiuliani and President Trump’s supporters?

It seems that Michael Gottlieb is pursuing a political vendetta against Mayor Rudy Giuliani on behalf of the Biden Family, and the law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher is using its massive resources in support of this mission.

Is Willkie Farr & Gallagher proud of what their attorneys are doing here?

Kash Patel on The Deep State and Who’s REALLY Been Running the Country

In the BlazeTV video, Kash Patel discusses the concept of the “Deep State” and its influence on key political events in the U.S., suggesting that a network of coordinated individuals and institutions, rather than elected officials, are exerting significant control. Patel argues that the response to Hunter Biden’s laptop scandal, the DNC server hack, and Russiagate are all indicative of this deep-seated coordination aimed at shaping narratives in favor of certain political interests. He highlights the roles of key figures from the Obama administration, such as Susan Rice and Jake Sullivan, in continuing to influence the Democratic Party and the Biden administration. Patel also criticizes individuals like Andrew McCabe and Kevin Clinesmith for their roles in perpetuating the so-called double standards of justice, emphasizing how they moved from government positions to media and private sectors. The discussion ties together elements of government, media, and private legal firms as part of this overarching network that aims to suppress certain information while advancing specific narratives. The conversation also touches on the strategic importance of targeting officials like Christopher Wray and Merrick Garland, who allegedly facilitate these operations, rather than solely focusing on President Biden.

Oh oh, super Christmas oops.

Folks down the street set up their car fridge in the laundry to store all of the Christmas day fare to ensure consistent cooling and to declutter the main fridge. Seafood, the joint, the ham and the drinks.

Early Christmas morning the hostess opened the fridge to extract the ham for glazing and was instantly and violently ill. A visiting daughter had mistakenly turned off the fridge at the wall believing that it was on by mistake.

Speaking to them on Boxing Day they soon recovered from the shock, assigned the incident to the family lore and got out the barbie. The fridge contents were buried.

I had actually knocked on their door in the forlorn hope that they might take half of our ham that was well in excess of our needs. Gratefully accepted.

2024 WAS A GREAT YEAR TO SHOOT YOUR BOOT

TIM BLAIR
31 Dec 2024

Feet are made for walking – except during 2024, when feet worldwide copped an extraordinary amount of self-inflicted gunfire.

From Canberra courtrooms to the White House in Washington, and from the Paris Olympics to Sydney radio studios, all manner of colourful types just couldn’t wait to pull the trigger.

Let’s run through this year’s list of foot-shootin’ fools, beginning with …

PRIME MINISTER
ANTHONY ALBANESE

No matter at who or what Albo takes aim, his attempts at a bull’s eye always end up with a bullet lodged somewhere between toes and ankle.

That $4.3m Central Coast mansion purchase, for example, would have been a terrific deal – except during a devastating housing crisis.

And Albo’s luxurious treatment from his Qantas mates sure was sweet – until contrasted with the cost of living agony suffered by ordinary Aussies.

The PM’s promise of $275 in electricity savings isn’t looking too good either. No matter which way you examine it, the prime ministerial foot is permanently perforated.

KYLE SANDILANDS & JACKIE O

The classic form of the old shot-in-foot is – according to Dictionary.com – to “foolishly harm one’s own cause”.

In which case, step on up, Kyle and Jackie O. The then top-rating toilet-tongued Sydney duo began 2024 by arrogantly predicting that by year’s end they’d also be Melbourne’s No.1 breakfast team.

“I don’t think it’ll be straight away,” Kyle said in March. “I don’t think it’ll be immediate, but by the end of the year, yes.”

No. Not only did The Kyle and Jackie O Show tank down south, but by the year’s final ratings survey it had even fallen to second place in Sydney.

Any more predictions, Kyle?

US PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN

This was a big one. A historic one. A mega one. Even a MAGA one.

“Donald Trump lost two debates to me in 2020. Since then, he hasn’t shown up for a debate,” US President Joe Biden declared in May.

“Now he’s acting like he wants to debate me again. Well, make my day, pal. I’ll even do it twice.”

Sadly for Joe, he wouldn’t. Despite his powerfully-worded debate challenge, Biden’s solitary debate performance was such a disaster that he was forced by his own party to abandon a second debate and pull out of the presidential race.

Following Trump’s easy election win, Biden further damaged his own reputation by granting a pardon to scandal-prone son Hunter – after vowing to never do such a thing. Bye-bye, Biden.

LISA WILKINSON

At one point during her successful defence against Bruce Lehrmann’s defamation lawsuit, media veteran and very-serious-taker-of-self Lisa Wilkinson took icy exception to lawyer Matthew Richardson’s view of her work.

“Please,” Wilkinson responded, “don’t make me sound like a cheap tabloid journalist, Mr Richardson.”

Oh dear. What a terrible, shameful slur. Except, of course, that Wilkinson’s entire very rewarding career has been firmly in the tabloid oeuvre.

Dolly magazine? Tabloid. Cleo magazine? Tabloid. Nine’s Today show? Tabloid. The Project? Tabloid as hell, but without being popular.

Mr Richardson, SC, may proceed.

AMBASSADOR TO THE US KEVIN RUDD

Considering the amount of times ex-prime minister Kevin Rudd has pointed projectiles at his pretty little pedal pushers, it’s a wonder the little fella has any feet left at all.

But he does, and Rudd must have felt confident about keeping them when he launched into Donald Trump with a series of brutal attacks written prior to Trump’s re-election.

Trump was, Rudd claimed, a “traitor to the west”, a “problem for the world” and “the most destructive president in history”.

“He drags America and democracy through the mud,” Rudd went on. “He thrives on fomenting, not healing, division.”

In his own attempt at healing, Rudd deleted that abuse from social media. But here’s the thing about shot feet: you can’t unshoot them.

FORMER LIBERAL STAFFER BRUCE LEHRMANN

Australia’s legal case of the decade initially ended with the abandonment in 2022 of Bruce Lehrmann’s trial for allegedly raping his fellow federal Liberal staffer Brittany Higgins.

Lehrmann pleaded not guilty in that trial, which collapsed due to a juror’s illicit private research. The DPP then dropped the charge. Then followed Lehrmann’s own legal pursuit of Lisa Wilkinson and her employer, Network Ten, for allegedly defaming him.

Fortune on this occasion did not favour the 29-year-old, who not only lost the case and copped more than $2m in legal costs but who was also found by Justice Michael Lee to have on the civil standard of balance of probabilities “raped Ms Higgins”.

Justice Lee’s summary was a perfect version in legalese of a foot-shooting: “Having escaped the lion’s den, Mr Lehrmann made the mistake of coming back for his hat.”

Lehrmann is currently appealing the defamation finding.

HEZBOLLAH

In most cases, to shoot oneself in the foot is metaphorical. But Lebanese terrorist gang Hezbollah almost went literal in 2024, when a plan to use pagers was brought undone by Israeli remote explosives technology.

Israel’s plan, dubbed Operation Grim Beeper, caused thousands of Hezbollah operatives to shoot themselves in all sorts of painful and sometimes fatal places. The odd foot may have been involved. Roll on 2025, and further feet defeats.

An article in the Worst Australian warns of the hiccups coming for the mining industry in WA, you know the one that pays all those royalties for polliecritters to pee up against walls.

WA miners could be on the hook for substantially larger royalty payments to Aboriginal groups as new Native Title agreements loom large.

A raft of mining leases across the State that pre-date the Native Title Act (1993) are set to expire over the coming years and the Native Title negotiation provisions embedded in those leases have recently blindsided some resources companies.

Mining leases in WA generally have a term of 21 years with a built-in right to one renewal for an additional 21 years.Without coverage of a Native Title agreement miners will be forced to negotiate with Aboriginal groups, which likely includes new royalty payment terms, in order to get a second mining lease renewal and subsequently keep their mining tenure.

This is according to the WA Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety, which recently issued a note to mining companies.

“The Native Title Act requires the future Act process to be followed wherever native title exists, is claimed to exist, or may exist, to ensure the validity of the proposed action,” DEMIRS said.

“A mining lease cannot be renewed under s78(2) of the Mining Act until all future act requirements are met. Mining lease holders are encouraged to proactively engage with native title parties to secure the necessary consent well ahead of the renewal deadlines.

“Evidence demonstrating the future Act requirements of the Native Title Act have been met is required before a second renewal can be determined. If consent has been sought but not yet granted, your supporting information should include details such as the required consent authority and any evidence of ongoing discussions.”

The WA Government has reportedly written to Federal counterparts requesting a change of the right-to-negotiate Native Title provisions.

Longstanding iron ore operations in the Pilbara and gold mines in the Goldfields could be hard hit by the trigger of the provisions.

Miners in WA are also facing heritage protection challenges.

Bellevue Gold has been whacked by a claim from a Traditional Owner that covers an area near Leinster in the northern Goldfields known as Lake Miranda, which borders its namesake newly producing mine.

The application was revealed in August, just days before Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek’s contentious move to grant a Section 10 order over part of Regis Resources’ planned McPhillamys mine in NSW.

Section 10 challenges are usually lodged to seek protection or preserve areas of cultural heritage value.

Regis has sought to contest the decision — which has vexed the mining industry — in Federal Court, claiming it has effectively sunk the $1 billion project.

Many of the Pilbara iron ore mines will be affected along with iconic gold mines like Gwalia and the Super Pit. I have read that GMD have done a deal with the Watarra mob for all their mines which include Gwalia, but the same Wattara mob were involved in an attempr to get $1.4 mill from a junior explorer to convert leases to Mining leases, so we can guess that GMD were violated in a similar manner.
Meanwhile the streets of our little bush town still have the same social issues that all this compensation to the so called traditional owners was supposed to heal.

Feet are made for walking – except during 2024, when feet worldwide copped an extraordinary amount of self-inflicted gunfire.

Heh, and here’s another perfect example. It’s always fascinating to watch a really Grade A woke megadisaster unfolding in slow motion:

Disney’s Latest ‘Snow White’ Trailer Suffers Another Massive Dislike Ratio: ‘My Children Will Not Watch This’ (30 Dec)

It isn’t just potential audience members who are slamming the video teasers, either. In November, a former Disney “Imagineer” proclaimed the movie “unwatchable,” for its execrable visual effects.

The backlash to the film started early in 2023 when images were released of the film’s concept of the seven dwarf characters which showed a multiracial group of actors, only one of whom was a dwarf.

But that kerfuffle was minor compared to the hate stirred by the film’s star, Rachel Zegler, who has made a long series of outrageous statements ripping the original film as misogynistic, insisting the new film will be woke and feminist, ripping Donald Trump voters as racists, and spouting off about her hatred for Zionists and her support for Hamas-led Palestinians.

Not only did Zegler attack President-elect Donald Trump and his 76.8 million voters, she went a step farther and even wished harm to come to them and said, “may you never know peace” in an angry series off post-election Instagram stories posts.

“I find myself speechless in the midst of this. Another four years of hatred, leaning us towards a world I do not want to live in,” she began, later adding: “May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace.”

Zegler claimed that those who voted for Trump are part of a “deep, deep sickness in this country.” She added: “there is no help, no counsel, in any of them.”

She later tried to apologize for her comments. [As Blair says you can’t unshoot your foot…]

In another example of her controversial behavior, Zegler inflamed fans in August by declaring “Free Palestine” on social media while promoting the new trailer for the big-budget movie.

All of this bodes ill for Disney’s film which has reportedly already cost north of $400 million in production costs thanks to retooling and reshooting to head off controversies. It would mean that this movie will have to make more than $600 million to begin to break even upon its release, a prospect that seems highly unlikely.

Disney should deep six it, that at least would spare them even more bad headlines and all the promotional costs.

No.
You don’t want governments funding anything.
You don’t want them running or funding education in particular. Research also.
Government funding comes with a bunch of ideological requirements. At the moment these are all orientated towards identity and climate.
Also, the sort of people who seek out government funding are the very worst sort who should not be artificially maintained in their positions when otherwise they would hopefully fail and leave. I give you the example of failed teachers who are given a lifeline to join the department and oversee the system they are incapable of operating within.
It also creates an entire ecosystem of brown nosers and people whose entire modus operandi is to network themselves into safe funded positions.
Burn it all down.
People need to pay for their own children’s education, and if they don’t value education no amount of government funding will make up for the shortfall of enthusiasm within the home.
Likewise with research. If no one wants to research something, then it probably wasn’t a profitable line of research.
Governments in the 21st century have one task: to f*ck off and leave people alone unless they are committing a crime.
No one good wants your help. Just piss off.

Seems it’s a piece of Noongar folklore that, when Rottnest Island served as a prison for Aborigines, during the term of one Henry Vincent as superintendent of the prison, a guillotine was set up on the jetty, and an Aboriginal prisoner would sometimes be beheaded when a transport of new prisoners arrived. The new prisoners would be responsible for burying the body.

As Thomas points out, there is only one flaw….Vincent’s term as superintendent of the prison ended in 1867, and there was no Rottnest jetty until 1906…. (Page 306.)

Monster Who Brutally Murdered Two Female Bankers Makes New Insane Demand After Biden Commutes His Death Sentence

Joe Biden decided to prioritize child killers and murderers on his way out the door by commuting the death sentences of 37 of the 40 men on federal death row.

Among the monsters and murderers on Biden’s list of commutations is career criminal Brandon Council. In 2019, Brandon Council was convicted of the brutal double murders of bank workers Donna Major and Katie Skeen during a 2017 robbery.

Surveillance video from murders shows Council walking into CresCom Bank in Conway, South Carolina, briefly speaking to Major before he pulls out a gun and shoots her multiple times. He then opened fire on Kathryn Skeen.

Major Bat Guano!

Harmful fungus in bat feces used to fertilize marijuana plants found to have killed two growers (MedXpress, 30 Dec)

A team of medical professionals and infectious disease researchers at the University of Rochester, in New York, has found that two men who were growing their own marijuana plants died after contracting fungal lung infections that led to pneumonia. In their paper published in the journal Open Forum Infectious Diseases, the group describes the symptoms in the two unrelated cases and their diagnosis and issues a warning to marijuana growers about using bat guano as a fertilizer.

In recent years, several states in the U.S. have legalized the recreational use of marijuana—some (such as New York) have also made it legal to grow the plant. Such legalization has led to a growing market for marijuana-associated products. One such product is bat guano, which has been touted as being the best kind of fertilizer for growing the plant because of its high levels of phosphorus and nitrogen.

In this new case, the team in Rochester found that both patients had used bat guano to fertilize their marijuana garden. Unbeknownst to them, their fertilizer was harboring a type of fungus called Histoplasma capsulatum.

Both of the patients were male, one aged 59, the other 64. One of them had collected some bat poop he had found in his attic, the other bought a bag online. Both apparently inhaled the spores as they were fertilizing their marijuana plants.

They probably weren’t preverts, but they surely were Darwin Award recipients. Bats are choc full of nasties, especially flying foxes.

Your afternoon read over coffee or a NYE beverage.

Comments appear to be positive. However, whilst there could be positive aspects of decisions being made by residents, it seems to me that financially it is taxpayers money just being recycled, unless those who are paying house rent are employed by private (non-government related) enterprise. I can’t see how they can be economically independent particularly with restricted tourist access. Moreover, many skilled workers and supplies will need to be externally sourced. Great partnership with Barker College though.

I’m optimistically sceptical.

Gunyangara town lease a model for economic independence

The first Aboriginal community in the Northern Territory to take control of its own town lease is being touted as a model for economic independence and potentially individual home ownership.

Gunyangara in the northeast Arnhem Land reached a milestone this month when its 300 residents collectively made the final repayment on a $2m commonwealth loan, three years ahead of schedule. The coastal community – situated on Gumatj land – reached a historic 99-year lease arrangement in 2017, signing a town lease agreement that makes its residents – not the government nor the Northern Land Council – the decision-makers about how land is used in Gunyangara.

This has had a simplifying effect. It has also meant things get done faster. While Aboriginal communities in other jurisdictions have battled bureaucracy for years to secure tender for projects, Gunyungara has established its own school, built its own houses, opened a timber mill that employs residents and used rents from the houses to employ a town maintenance crew of four locals.

From the initial $2m advance payment from the commonwealth, the people built a residential complex of four units for elderly women then used land use payments from the township – a sort of rent to repay that loan in full within seven years.

Gumatj leader Djawa Yunupingu said the historic lease arrangement – the first of its kind here when it was signed in 2017 – provided security of tenure over local land so the community and its residents could “live in the modern world”.

“It allows us to focus on local priorities and get straight to the point with land-use issues,” Mr Yunupingu said. “It puts decision-making in our hands, and we can act with purpose because we want to see our town and our people prosper on their own land.

“Every block of land in Gunyangara is now leased, and we’ve created an environment that supports increased economic and community development.”

While this was the first NT township lease on Aboriginal land to be controlled by traditional owners, two others have followed – the Mirarr people of Jabaru now control their own lease as do the people of Groote Eylandt.

Gumatj leaders say they want to help their people to continue to build their economic independence, creating the environment for individual home ownership.

The Northern Land Council at first opposed Gunyangara’s proposal but ultimately supported it.

Indigenous Australians Minister Malarndirri McCarthy said the Albanese government was committed to working in genuine partnership with NT land councils, traditional owners, local communities and the executive director of township leasing so that traditional owners could make their own decisions about meeting social, cultural and economic needs.

“The Township Leasing Model is a practical way of empowering traditional owners to take control of local decision-making about the use of their land and generating business development opportunities through secure tenure that doesn’t compromise Aboriginal ownership of the land,” Senator McCarthy said.

“This kind of outcome at Gunyangara only happens with the building of relationships between land councils and traditional owners, and I congratulate everyone involved.”

Opposition Indigenous affairs spokeswoman Jacinta Nampijinpa Price said she believed Gunyangara was a blueprint. “I have long advocated for systems of dealing with land that reduce the need for Indigenous Australians to depend on the government,” the NT senator said.

“Leases like this play a vital role in providing the opportunity for Indigenous Australians to be homeowners on their land.

“Keeping Indigenous Australians locked out of home ownership is akin to keeping them in socialist enclaves; it is no way to empower a person to stand on their own two feet. There is significant benefit in leases being controlled by traditional owners through smaller corporations as opposed to vesting power in a few large land councils.

“There are many other changes needed with respect to native title and land rights legislation in Australia, however these leases are a helpful tool towards economic independence.

“Indigenous Australians in regional and remote communities are often our most marginalised, therefore implementing these kinds of leases across the country would go a long way to empowering our most vulnerable.”

The people of Gunyangara run the township through the small Aboriginal corporation they control, Ngarrariyal.

Land use payments go to Ngarrariyal for community benefit, which has so far included grants to the community’s junior school Dhupuma Barker. The school, formed in a partnership with the prestigious Barker College in Sydney, has had strong early academic results.

The community’s next project is a building at the local sports oval for recreation activities, indoor sport and meetings. It will also be a cyclone shelter if needed.

The agreement that gave Gunyangara people control over their township was 10 years in the making. There were early talks between Mal Brough, Indigenous affairs minister in the Howard government, and famed Gumatj clan leader known in death by his last name Yunupingu.

The proposal languished until 2014, when then prime minister Tony Abbott visited Gunyangara and talked with Yunupingu. The Coalition then changed the NT land rights act to allow traditional owners to control leases over their own townships.

ironically, i’m actually all for people being able to make their own choices about drugs and not needing the approval of the state to decide what pharma they want to take. a free market of free choice would be great.

but this is not that.

this is the worst of both worlds, a total lack of testing with a total lack of liability given a false patina of science and trust by agencies like FDA and CDC who have not only so egregiously failed in their duties but actually inverted them going to great lengths to mislead the public and cover the tracks of pharma harm.

It’s worse than pissing up a wall. NT and the rest of the 3rd nations grift is a fundamental attack on our democracy by basically useless and undeserving bastards who wallow in the guilt and gutlessness of our pollies, especially the fuking faux conservatives. The whole 3rd nations edifice is a testimony to self loathing and cowardice by our institutions. I don’t know how but Trump has to rid the US of these corrupt judges, AGs and other demorat bureaucrats. From the article:

The jury decided that E. Jean Carroll did not prove Trump raped her.
However, the jury said E. Jean Carroll proved Trump sexually abused her when he ‘inserted fingers into her vagina.’
In a separate defamation case brought by E. Jean Carroll, In January 2024, Trump was ordered to pay $83.3 million in damages to Carroll.

The defamation was based on Trump saying he was not his type. From the comments:

Victorian Liberals ‘lucky’ to have Moira Deeming says UK feminist activist Kellie-Jay Keen

British activist Kellie-Jay Keen says the Victorian Liberal Party is lucky to have Moira Deeming back in the fold and has called on newly elected leader Brad Battin to give her a role of “influence”.

Asked whether Mr Battin should appoint Mrs Deeming to the role of shadow minister for women or provide her with any other shadow ministry portfolios, Ms Keen told The Australian: “The Liberal Party are lucky to have Moira Deeming. Any role where she has an influence would send a message to the electorate that the Liberal Party is willing to stand up for the rights of women and children.”

UK-based Ms Keen, also known as Posie Parker, is behind the “Let Women Speak” movement, which protests what it sees as infringements upon women’s and children’s rights by transgender activists.

On Tuesday, Mrs Deeming told The Australian she would accept any decision the leadership team made about the shadow ministry and would continue to work hard for her constituents.

“My view is that wherever I am on the chessboard, I’m grateful to be in play, and I will do my best to help,” she said.

Ms Keen, alongside Mrs Deeming, helped organise the Melbourne rally in March 2023 that was gatecrashed by neo-Nazis.

In the fallout, Mrs Deeming was expelled from the Victorian Liberal partyroom and successfully sued the party’s then-leader John Pesutto for defamation over his portrayal of her as a Nazi sympathiser.

On Friday, Mrs Deeming was readmitted to the parliamentary Liberal Party at the same meeting in which Mr Pesutto was ousted by Mr Battin as leader of the party.

The leadership spill followed Mr Pesutto’s crushing loss to Mrs Deeming in the Federal Court and his subsequent vote preventing her readmission to the partyroom one week earlier.

Mr Battin is expected to announce his shadow cabinet in early January.

Ms Keen said that globally, people were “desperate” for politicians with conviction.

“… they almost don’t care the specifics of what those individuals stand for as long as they stand for something,” she said.

“We’re all fed up of meaningless platitudes and sound bites.”

Following the rally last year, Ms Keen and Melbourne-based activist Angela Jones joined Mrs Deeming in suing Mr Pesutto, alleging he defamed them by suggesting they were linked to far-right extremist groups and neo-Nazis.

Ms Keen and Ms Jones settled their matters out of court in May, resulting in Mr Pesutto issuing an apology to the two for “any hurt, distress or harm that has occurred” as a result of his comments being “misunderstood as conveying” that he believed them to be neo-Nazis or members of neo-Nazi groups.

It has been interesting to see what goes down on X (TAFKAT – ‘the app formerly known as Twatter’)

Labor is flooding the place with songs of praise for Albo and Dim, and how all these international acronyms like WEF and IMF say they are doing a bang up job. Near instantaneous responses each time go straight to the fact that real income has been sliding back and consumers have faced 7 quarters of consumer recession.

then there are the ones that demonise Dutton – silly images of him overlaid with some slogan. I could as easily post a picture of a balloon and claim that the Ideal Gas Constant is 12.3.

I think Labor is running scared and don’t realise they are making it obvious.

A bit of special forces news.

Israel raids Iranian missile facility in Syria in covert operation (JPost, 30 Dec)

Israel conducted a commando raid on an underground Iranian missile production facility near the city of Maysaf in Syria in early September, the Jerusalem Post learned in later September, but was only allowed to confirm now after KAN News was permitted to publicize the IDF officially taking credit late Sunday.

The raid targeted two significant sites, which were the Syrian defense industry’s Scientific Studies and Research Center and the underground missile production facility run by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.

The operation occurred approximately 200 kilometers from Israeli territory and was deemed urgent to prevent the facility from reaching full production capacity.

Two hundred km inside Syria! Sadly the story is light on detail, but it sounds like it must’ve been successful. Hopefully the whole tale eventually comes out.

i mention this not because I assume everyone is a Trekkie (I’m not) but because it marks another step in the retreat from woke-ism. It is being done so future films can do things without needing to be consistent with all the guff introduced in Discovery.

Finally studios are thinking about making money by attracting fans – rather than losing money by calling fans names.

About this time of the week my TikTok feed gets flooded with NFL related content.
I do like it as the NFL shows a lot of highlights quickly which is better than watching hours of ESPN packaged highlights.

This weekend it’s been a little different.
A Washington player proposed to his gal post them winning Sunday night football.
Oh boy, anyone who says TwitterX is full of hate hasn’t seen some of the TikTok content.
Women of a certain demographic posting what you can only call extreme hate towards the both of them.

The player is black.
His bird is white.
And the women hate posting are not happy he’s not marrying a sister.
It’s like they have zero self awareness ie potential employers may see their posts at some time in the future.
Totally unhinged.

Walking along a quiet leafy street in Paddington today I had an verbal altercation with a pro-Palestine Jewish woman. Approaching her on the footpath I could see she was wearing a ‘Star of David’ or, as we say in Hebrew, a ‘Magen David’ (which means ‘Shield of David’).

As I walked past I said to her…..’nice Magen David‘ to which she responded….

Free Palestine.

Shocked, I swivelled my head and said…

Why would you say that?

To which she responded….

Because it is a human rights issue

I responded…..

What about the human rights of the hostages, still kept in Gazan tunnels?’

She responded…..

That’s Israel’s fault, Hamas has offered to release ALL the hostages

By now I was gobsmacked, and so I said to her…….

You’re a Jew hating Jew

to which she unleashed on me….

F*ck off filthy c*nt

to which I replied…..

You progressives are so tolerant, and yes I do have a c*nt but it isn’t filthy, it’s nice and clean.

This enraged her more, I could see her aggression rising, and she continued to scream at me….

you’re a filthy c*nt, you’re a filthy c*nt, you’re filthy c*nt

Smiling, I yelled back…..

Get help

I then walked off.

If you’ll permit a little self-indulgent pride in my beloved eldest son – he just phoned me as is currently driving to his station at Vaucluse (Sydney) where he will be until about 2 am.

For the last four days, he has been one of the large team of tech-heads setting up the extensive network of cameras, sound etc etc for tonight’s NYE fireworks in Sydney. (BTW, this is his second job, not his primary source of income.) The camera he is responsible for tonight is about 5 km from the bridge and its $250k lens can zoom out wide to see from the buildings in the city to the north shore or zoom in to focus on the flags on the bridge – amazing.

He reckons it will be his camera that will be used for the finale tonight.

There will be a domestic version of the show and a slightly different international version that their ABC will be transmitting from about 7.30 pm EDST.

Enjoy, and raise a glass to all the under-rated tech-heads of this world.

Prime ministers, archbishops, academics, editors and public broadcasters are all in the business of exaggerating the colonial sins of their own countries against noble (not-so-very) savages – from Vancouver to London to Sydney. Why?
Throughout the English-speaking world elites are falling over themselves to believe the very worst of their own countries.
Let’s consider Canada. In May 2021 an Indian band in Kamloops, British Columbia claimed ground-penetrating radar had discovered “soil disturbances” that evidenced unmarked graves containing the remains of 215 “missing children” in land associated with an Indian Residential School.
The media quickly sexed up the story into one of “mass graves”, with all its connotation of murderous atrocity. On May 30 the Toronto Globe and Mail published an article under the title “The discovery of a mass gravesite at a former residential school in Kamloops is just the tip of the iceberg”. In it, Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond, professor of law at the University of British Columbia, wrote: “It is horrific. But it is not shocking. In fact, it is the opposite – a too-common unearthing of the legacy, and enduring reality, of colonialism in Canada.”
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ordered Canadian flags to be flown at half-mast on all federal buildings to honour the murdered children. Because the Kamloops school had been run by a Roman Catholic religious order, some zealous citizens took to burning and vandalising churches, 85 of them to date. The dreadful tale was eagerly broadcast worldwide by Al Jazeera.
Yet, more than three years later, not a single set of remains of a murdered Indian child in an unmarked grave has been found either in Kamloops or elsewhere in Canada. Indeed, not a single attempt to disinter an alleged grave has been made.

Judging by the evidence collected by Chris Champion and Tom Flanagan in their best-selling book, Grave Error: How the Media Misled us (and the Truth about the Residential Schools), it looks increasingly probable that the Kamloops story, and the ones that followed it, are myths.

I’ve just taken delivery of this book. In the light of the “Stolen Generations”, it’s making interesting reading!

I won’t mention the guillotine on Rottnest!

Australia’s equivalent is the extraordinary career of Bruce Pascoe’s Dark Emu. Published in 2014, this argues that Aboriginal people, far from being primitive nomads, developed the first egalitarian society, invented democratic government, eschewed “imperial warfare”, pioneered complex fishing technology, and were sophisticated agriculturalists. Such was the morally superior civilisation that white colonisers trashed in their greed, racist contempt and relentless violence.

Dark Emu was named Book of the Year and received the Indigenous Writers’ Prize in the 2016 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards. It has sold more than 360,000 copies and has been made the subject of an ABC documentary.
And yet, while enthusiastically praised for challenging conventional views about Aboriginal culture and popularising the topic, it has been widely criticised for being factually untrue. While not a professional academic, Peter O’Brien has forensically dismantled it in Bitter Harvest: The Illusion of Aboriginal Agriculture in Bruce Pascoe’s Dark Emu, systematically exposing the many gaps between claim and evidence.
And in Farmers or Hunter Gatherers? The Dark Emu Debate, eminent anthropologist Peter Sutton and archaeologist Keryn Walshe, while vigorously rejecting the description of Aboriginal culture as “primitive”, nevertheless dismiss Pascoe’s claims for Aboriginal agriculture and aquaculture, and expose his editing of primary sources to make them appear to support his thesis. Reviewers have described their book variously as “rigorously researched”, “masterful”, and “measured”.

In his 40s, Jaiswal was trapped plumb by Starc. Again, umpire Wilson said no. The DRS tech on review showed 75% of the pill hitting the stumps. Amazingly, the tech said it was umpire’s call so the not out decision stood.

Jaiswal was gifted over 40 runs by the tech. Now he’s neck-deep in tandoori-flavoured tears.
